I can’t wait to get started. I recently lost my husband of 58 years. I kept his shirts and am going to make quilts for kids and grandkids using these shirts as the basis of the quilts!

This book is packed with great patterns for most quilters. I bought it on the advise of a friend and am glad I have my own copy.

I love this quilt book because it has many house block quilt patterns ! So I will dip into this as soon as I finish up some other projects which I am working On.

I love her style and the use of scrapes. It doesn't hurt that Miss Rosie was her beloved lab, who I imagine was sitting in the quilting room on and off while Carrie worked!

I bought this book after seeing a quilt posted on a FB quilting site. The lady said she got the pattern from this book. It was not in here. Then after reading another review, someone said there were "tons of house patterns" in this book, which is what I wanted it for. Well, there are TWO , not tons. The patterns and quilts are beautiful but I believe you need to be an advanced quilter to do these quilts. I consider myself intermediate and I was overwhelmed just looking at the amount of fabrics to make one of these. Most you need at least 35 different fat quarters of different patterns. I've got a problem with this, as my local fabric store's fat quarters and fabric are not good quality. The quilt shop I go to wouldn't have that much of a variety of anything in one color scheme, then I'd have to get 1/4 yards cut for everything. I think this alone is just very off-putting. I don't believe I could even do any of these patterns very well, being at my intermediate level. Sending this book back.

One of the best pattern books I have ever bought. I bought this book to get the out of print pattern "Come On A My House". Every pattern is an instant classic. I plan to start with the pattern that I bought the book for and then continue on with mini versions of some of the others.

I absolutely love this book. I have several quilting books, but this one is really special. I would love to make every single quilt in this book. The quilts are beautifully designed and offer a quilter the chance to slow down and work on a very special quilt. I also enjoyed reading every part of this book. The author/designer is extremely talented and offers a wonderful perspective on the various aspects of quilting. In my opinion this is a must have for any quilter who appreciates scrap quilts.

The quilts in the book are beautiful- I bought it to make the Come On-a My House quilt. I’m an intermediate level quilter with about 40 years/ 30 or so quilts under my belt. I’m at the end of the cutting phase, and I must say the instructions in the book are a little unclear. I hope when it comes time to assemble the quilt, the pieces were cut accordingly! I’ve had terrific luck with Quilter’s World Magazine, where other complicated design instructions are easier to follow. I guess the jury is still out - I’ll follow up when I’ve assembled the quilt!

I've pieced & quilted for a number of decades, & also seem to collect Quilt books--I have more than I'd want to have to count. And I LOVE this book. She doesn't treat the reader as an idiot. Once she has carefully detailed how to make a given unit in one quilt paytern, she often gives somewhat less detailed instructions for it in later wuilts. I like this, it saves room to include more quilts & I've found I'm less annoyed when reading the book for pleasure, rather than only for making. I especially LOVE how she describes each element of a quilt at the bety beginning, in an exceefingly easy reading manner. How wide strips are in blocks, sizes of blocks, how mane HST in each block & their size(s), the dimensions of borders and some thoughts on her color placements. I usually read quilt books with a pen in hand, noting on the first page of each quilt the widths of syrips, sizes of HSTs & flying geese, etc. & etc. Exactly the information she supplies. Than you! She also suggests there ways to gently increase or decrease the size of each quilt. My only wish is that she hadn't used the over-lazy blirb in most quilt nooks -- saying a form of "Quilt as desired". We call it "quilting" afterall. So I deeply wish more authors would include suggestions, even patterns, for the actual Quilting!! It's so much easier to find ideas & directions for piecing quilts -- I think we do our art and craft, & especially beginners, a HUGE disservice by not including info, pictures, drawings/charts, etc for each and every piecing pattern in "Quilting" books! I'm not faulting this author, nor detracting anything at all from this lovely & wonderful book full of stars & houses & log cabins & all my favorite piecing themes! Only to hope her future books might join the three I've found that do include quilting designs with the piecing designs.

Detailed classic style quilts that really wow! Some of the quilts create a larger overall design based on the color choices in the blocks while others are simply a repetitive style. For the most part the fabrics featured are small classic or vintage style prints in keeping with the farmhouse look. Excellent piecing illustrations and directions. These quilts will surely be cherished by those who will get the pleasure of enjoying them.

I am beyond excited to own this book! The quilts are stunning! Carrie Nelson's talent for scrappy quilts and pattern instructions is, bar none, the best. Her patterns are easy to read and understand. Sheepishly, I must admit that I do own all of her patterns and books and have made countless quilts. I'll be one of the first in line to purchase her next book(s) or pattern(s). I definitely highly recommend if you're a quilter you need and should own this book.

A fabulous collection of quilts! Her designs are always high on my list. Several of these have been on my "to do" list for quite some time.. Especially Birdseye. I saw this beautiful Birdseye on display @ a quilt store in Holland, MI last summer and snapped the picture as I loved the use of Kim Diehl prints. I have quite of few of those same fabrics in my stash. Perfect prints for this timeless pattern. And I have a closet full more fabrics to tackle the rest of these beauties. :-)
