Kinda outdated
So this book is great if your playing before 1.16, but if your not it’s pretty outdated. The nether has some crazy changes, so the nether part is almost useless. BUT there are still some decent tips for the nether (one star back) and the end part is perfect (worth 2 stars) so overall pretty decent. Plus you can be filled with nostalgia by looking at the old zombie pigmen xD
Wonderful book!!! (a kid's review)
I am a huge Minecraft fan, and I think this book has all of the knowledge you would ever need to negotiate the strange terrain of the Nether and the End, as well as battle the local mobs. The book is full of well-done illustrations which explain everything. Overall, I think it is worth the money!
Extremely helpful with the core promise
The book is missing a lot since there has been so many updates since then but the information inside still remains relevant and helpful for getting to both the Nether and The End. It’s still a 5 stars for me because the contents still helps you to get the job done.
Good value.
My grandson was thrilled to receive this as a birthday gift. I don't know anything about Minecraft but my grand kids just love it. The book is well constructed and it was a really big hit with my grandchild.
Great
This book is awesome! I really like it, especially because of all of the build ideas. I would definitely recommend this to all ‘crafters who are fans of reading Minecraft books. Happy Minecrafting!

Great Little Guidebook on Minecraft Nether World
These Mojang Minecraft guidebooks are great. I have collected the whole hardback set so far as I have started playing Minecraft. I find them vary helpful in getting me to understand the basics of various aspects of the game. The layout of the book is pleasing to the eye and easy to read. Not too wordy, and with plenty of pictures and diagrams to help you get the most from it. The information contained is enough to get you understanding what the game is about and how its various mechanics work, without getting too bogged down in technicalities and descriptions. These would be ideal for young children, but also helpful to us older ones. They are also made vary well, with a good hard cover and thick pages.
Essential reading for minecraft fans
Again the same review, same opinion on this product Bought for my son, who loves this minecraft stuff :) he's really into it, and as much as I dislike the game, the guides are well written and well thought out, they inspire him to try and recreate, adapt and plan. He is good at reading but sometimes asks me how to spell things in game, or uses the book to copy words. I've got no clue, Lego was my thing when I was a young girl, as for games I'll stick to Dragon age and Deadpool :D
Perfect for any Minecraft fan
Bought the series of these books for my son's birthday so will do one review for all. He loves them and it has giving him so much more to do on Minecraft which is great. These books help understand the game and give inspiration whilst playing which is also great. If he ever puts them down I might have a read instead of him always talking about what he just read...but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Quality books at a fantastic price.
Buy this book right after you buy the Survival Guide.
The Nether and "The End" are hidden areas that require special crafting and accomplished mining. This book deals with those areas, so it could be considered the Advanced Minecraft Survival Guide. Buy this book right after you buy the Survival Guide. I play with my nephew and niece (both under 10) and they aspire to get to the Ender Dragon and voraciously read this book to learn how. The feeling of accomplishment when they reached the nether was a really awesome moment. And because of this book they know the have a lot more to discover!
What you need to know without spoilers
Just about everything you need to know about getting through this minecraft level without spoiling it for you.
Love these books
Love these books. Helps me play Minecraft and they encourage my kids to read. I'm sure there are more technical things to be done in Minecraft but for a beginner/ moderate player they are great.

Detailed advice for travellers in the Nether and the End
I've been to the Nether quite a few times in my journey through my particular world in Minecraft, but I would never have thought of growing a garden in it using wet sponges. That's just one of the useful suggestions in this guide to two of the rarest biomes in the game – the Nether and the End. The focus of this book is mainly on how to survive hostile mobs and the environment and what you can do and find there. It's part of a series of books, the first two of which focussed on the Minecraft Overworld, and (like those books), it is in hardback, with quality full colour pages, and packed with great advice and illustrations. The second part of the book was, for me, the most interesting because – in common with a lot of Minecraft players who get so caught up in crafting and shaping their Overworld – I haven't actually travelled to the End myself yet. I now have some useful advice for when I eventually do, because defeating the Ender Dragon looks like it could be tough. I now know that I can use exploding beds towards the end of the battle to help finish it off. There is also advice for what to do to avoid the wrath of Endermen and suggestions on the benefits of respawning the Ender Dragon once you have defeated it. Also, you can settle in the End if you want, and this book gives you some helpful tips on doing so.
An official tome from the maker of Minecraft with the high-quality production and contents you'd expect...
This is an official tome by Mojang, the makers of Minecraft. The production qualities are high, with a hardback cover and quality paper. But it's what’s written on the paper inside that is particularly of interest. And that’s where this book really shines. I feel confident that the information shared is going to be correct - because of the official nature of the book. I take an interest in Minecraft because my children like to play it. I found this book accessible, as listening to them has given me a background understanding of what happens. This book isn’t for the complete beginner, but it gave me a greater insight into what my son and daughter talk about. I particularly like the ‘Mojang Stuff’ boxes, which give the reader a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of the game. I found the combination of high-quality photos and descriptive text evocative - especially when describing the Outer Islands and Cities that exist in the End, which are there for you to explore once you’ve defeated the Ender Dragon. It would never have occurred to me to make a permanent base of operations in this realm, but this book gives you advice on how to do just that.
When you are ready to try and explore the Nether and eventually the End - this is a useful guide
As with all of the other Mojang AB publications about Minecraft, this is full of fascinating information and tips for the novice - in this case being a novice to the Nether and the End, which for those of you who don't play Minecraft isn't something that you dive straight into when you first start playing the game. My children have been playing on and off for a number of years and have only recently decided that they want to explore the Nether. They had managed to get enough information from the internet to work out how to make a portal and all of the precursors to that - creating Obsidian and mining it etc. Once they created the portal, they were very excited but the first foray ended rather quickly as my daughter got completely lost and was unable to regain her bearings. The nether is quite a different place to the usual mMinecraft world and is full of fire, lava, and dangerous mobs. She is now ready to try again and so this book is very well timed. The book is fairly evenly split between the Nether and the End. My girls aren't quite ready for the End yet, but they are gleaning lots of useful information and tips from the section about the Nether already. The End is the ultimate challenge for any Minecrafter - where you might meet with the ender dragon - the ultimate boss. I think my girls will be acclimatising to the Nether for a while before they are ready to move on to face the End.
The is the end, my only friend, the end
Minecraft is such a massive open world, that it can simply overwhelm many new players used to the familiar structure and boundaries of conventional video games. What do I do? Pretty much anything you like is the answer. I don’t think these books are essential to getting on with the great game, but they’re enjoyable to read, attractively illustrated and you’re almost certain to learn something. This approximately A5 sized, hard back book with 79 pages is a dedicated Guide to: The Nether and The End. For my ten year old, The Nether and The End is a part of the game he was drawn to from an early stage. How do they learn about these things? Youtube and Twitch my friends. This book is divided up into two sections 1. The Nether and 2. The End. There are chapters within including Nether Portals, Nether Mobs, End Cities and the legendary Ender Dragon - Minecraft’s most deadly Mob. There is plenty of detail to be found in each section - for example Fighting the Ender Dragon is broken down into seven quite detailed stages. Once you’ve defeated the Dragon, the book goes on to tell you how to collect the Dragon’s Egg and how to Respawn the Dragon if you want to stock up on Dragon’s Breath for lingering potions. It’s a good quality, official Mojang guide book and almost certain to be appreciated by any Minecraft fan.
Really informative, even with a house full of other Minecraft books!
Matching the high quality of the other 'Minecraft Guide to' books, this is a compact hardback book that's gorgeously illustrated, packed with facts and insights that go far beyond anything you'd pick up from a casual play. Although we now have a house full of Minecraft books and the game has been a steady feature in the background for the past year, I found this Nether and the End guide was still fascinating for my 8-year-old son, who visits and understands that these places exist, and tells me that he once beat the Ender Dragon, but really I suspect his knowledge of these areas was limited to knowing they exist and knowing how to make a portal to enter them. The comprehensive nature of the book is really encouraging him to explore new areas of the game and regurgitate endless facts at me. I'd recommend this for anyone looking to learn more about the most difficult and least player-friendly areas of the game.
Guide to the Netherlands
To the hardcore minecrafter, this is apparently a useful guide to defeating the monsters you meet at the ultimate end of survival mode. So my sons tell me anyway. As a dad whose kids are rather often ensconced in an electronic mine somewhere, I would say this is forbiddingly insider mumbo jumbo! But it's pretty popular with its target audience. I can't help feeling it might take away a bit of the challenge/fun of defeating a wither or an ender dragon, since it gives you serious tips about how to do it. But for the minecraft nerds, I guess it's fascinating to know the chance of an ender dragon dropping an egg if you defeat it, and at what light levels the wither is most likely to spawn. If you know what I'm talking about, perhaps this book is for you! It's certainly well presented and arranged, and if you can't get enough of minecraft, you probably won't be disappointed. (Unless creative mode is your thing!)
Illuminating the Nether and the End
I have been playing Minecraft for more than a year and, having initially struggled with how to do things (online tutorials were the only resource I could find that explained things at the time), I now get it. Or at least I get the Overworld (mostly) but even with occasional trips into the Nether whilst in Creative, I have never really understood what was going on there. I did have a friendly ten-year-old across the road who used to provide some knowledge (how they can just know what to do still baffles me when, as far as I know, he had never played the game) but he is now 12 and well, not that into it anymore. So, this book explains what the ten-year-old would have before he became 12 and didn't, about growing crops and well, just generally surviving in the Nether. And I now know there is a dragon to defeat, which may be the most difficult task in Minecraft - so I think I will leave that until another time. Well, the book is basic but informative, which is just what I need and it has helped open up the game to a whole new level in that dark world. So it is a great resource to explain the vagaries of the Nether and the End (with tips about how to slay that dragon) and will have some nuggets in there for all but the most seasoned players, even my friendly 12 year old across the road might pick up a few tips.
and this does not disappoint. Allowing children to learn each stage in enough ...
My son and I were very impressed with the previous book in the series, a guide on Exploration in Minecraft, and this does not disappoint. Allowing children to learn each stage in enough detail to tackle later challenges, this guide takes players into the Nether and End dimensions, where ones tactics have to change and new mobs and materials require different strategies. The book is full-colour and full of illustrations. It is not the kind of dry walkthrough or guide that only has value when open beside you as you play - for players it's interesting and fun enough to be bedtime or free-time reading. It's entertaining and informative, and the requirements are all broken down in a manageable way. The section on the Dragon is particularly useful, and allowed us to tackle this part of the game for the first time with confidence.
Excellent for Minecraft fans.
Minecraft is not my area of expertise but it is my kids, and they have loved this book. It's reinspired them to work together to create exciting new Nether creations, which is great. The collaborative aspects of Minecraft are among my favourites. Not only has it fostered more working together on Minecraft, it has also inspired my reluctant reader 8-year old to read. I really try to find anything I can to get him to read and the Minecraft books usually do the trick. This one is no excepetion. Being an official Mojang product, the tips and advice are good and the quality of print and written language is also good too. All in all, another great book for the Minecraft fans in your life.
Useful minecrafting book
I've been able to review a couple of these books previously and I like the way they are presented. The books are A5 size and colourful yet informative. For my daughter (the main minecrafter in the house) and I the nether is not something we know much about. This book has helped in that regard. Although there are many minecraft books and much is already known I am an advocate of actually reading books if possible although the internet is a great information tool, this book specifically relates to one aspect of the game which is good as you don't get distracted as you often can on the net. It is a sturdy little book and all in all I like it and the others that form part of this collection.
If you are hardcore minecraft ....
This was a real surprise to me. I've played minecraft and it was fun but this is a whole new level for me. I didn't know it had developed so much and this book is fascinating. I goes through loads and loads of options and how to kill things and basically survive, but the most amazing thing in this book was how to kill the dragon. Everything to how to build the Armoury to fight it (diamond every thing !!!) right through to the summoning and how to fight it and finally the reward for beating it. Absolutely fascinating. I think if you are a hardcore minecraft player then this book is for you without doubt.
Help for Minecraft fans to get further and be more successful, one of a set
Immediately seized upon by seven year old grandson and his elder brother, this is a 'text book' style guide to getting further into Minecraft, a game that I now accept as being a good way to spend time on the computer - so much planning, construction, responsibility built into it. A game that goes on forever, as far as I can tell! I am informed that this book is totally fresh, and up to date with newer versions of the game. Using a reference aid such as this can only increase skill sets and make rewarding results for patience and forethought. A useful tool.
Attractive and accessible
This is an informative and well-presented book on the 'Nether' and 'End' regions of minecraft; my nine-year-old has really enjoyed reading it and applying some of the ideas in-game. Pages are based on illustrations from the game with plenty of annotations and some blocks of text. To make the most of it requires the latest version of Minecraft (of course), so not everything in here will apply for those still playing with earlier versions.
Excellent book about the Nether
My kids love this series of books - very clear diagrams and instructions on how to do things in the game and lots of insider tips to get the creative ideas flowing - if your kids are into Minecraft, or you an adult addicted to this excellent game, this series of books is very informative, fun to flick through, and well laid out - you're sure to find inspiration and discover things you didn't know
A rare book about the Nether
My son really likes this book, as he told me that there are no other books he's seen that are about the Nether, as they all concentrate on building stuff in the normal Minecraft world. He is enjoying constructing things and learning about how to do things in "The Nether". Yeah, ok, I don't profess to knowing what he's on about as all I know about the Nether is it's dark and scary and you die there, but perhaps those who do know about it will find this book helpful!
