Learning and enjoying reading at the same time! Win-win!

I bought this book and Abraham Lincoln at the same time and my 7 and 9 year old son picked them right up and read both of them cover to cover. They love graphic novels (Dogman is their favorite) and I was worried that these history books wouldn’t be as entertaining or engaging. Boy, was I wrong! I love that they are reading and learning at the same time. We will definitely be getting more books from this series and incorporating them into our homeschool curriculum this fall!

good reading.

Well written and illustrated. great for kids who don't like to read a chapter book.

Third-grader couldn't put it down.

We bought this book for our third-grade grandson. When we gave it to him, he started to read it immediately and didn't put it down until he was done.

A must read for your tween

This is a great read for our younger generation. My 11yr old son loved it! It’s full of amazing information on Dr. Kings life and accomplishments.

Graphic Novels sharing history.

Follow along with Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam as they walk you through the pages of history sharing the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Readers who are fans of comics will love going back in time to review the story of Dr. King from his early childhood until the last moments of his life. Illustrated boxes with speech and thought balloons keep the storyline short and sweet but still provide plenty of story to get the reader engaged in the history of events. Side-bar commentary is shared with images of Lady Liberty along with Uncle Sam, presented in a modern perspective, sharing little known facts for readers to absorb. Readers will love the illustrations that perfectly capture the emotion of the time. Vividly colorful and extremely detailed this graphic novel is a plus for students who aren’t fans of non-fiction. Readers will be able to spend time on each page to take in all of the details for a better understanding of the story. Parents and teachers can use this tool to engage students, teach history, capture the eye of the non-reader and discuss the wonderful man and what he did for this country.

Love this series!

Such a great way to learn history. My reluctant reader loved this book, and learned even more about MLK and civil rights movement!Love The pictures and the format! Plus, I’m a lover of beautiful Hardback books- Especially when we love the inside! We also love the other books in this series. There’s just something about turning the page- and saying- wow! I didn’t know that!

Make learning history fun!

Love these books! I teach 5th grade and my students can’t put them down. They are written as a comic so they are the perfect mix of history and fun. I would recommend them to any teacher looking to build background knowledge and incorporate more nonfiction text into your classroom library.
