What’s better than one King Vulture? Two, of course!
Merry Wrath, former CIA turned Girls Scout troop leader, is over the moon when her wacky taxidermist sisters-in-law present her with a stuffed King Vulture named Nellie Lou. But while the bird is beautiful, the deceased vulture has a secret past that leads to unanticipated trouble—ranging from a bad LSD trip to actually tripping over a dead body in Merry's garage!
When a bizarre pair of men named Mr. Sun and Mr. Moon start lurking about, and Central Iowa is plagued with a rash of taxidermied animal thefts, Merry wonders how she’s once again managed to get in the middle of it all. It doesn’t help that she has to mentor a younger troop with two unmotivated leaders and a kid who experiments with napalm.
With an arrogant mayor causing trouble, her house being trashed, and a dangerous kidnapping, Merry has to figure out who the killer is before Nellie Lou isn’t the only dead thing in her life.

Requires a willing suspension of disbelief
Live theater counts on the audience's ability to suspend disbelief. This book does too. When the main character is so ditsy and is supposed to be a former Federal operative; I can't help but scoff. Normally I would have given up on the book when the stuffed condor showed up. But I've been feeling antsy lately and I needed something somnolent to read. The lead character is an idiot, and I went along with it. I didn't figure out who was behind the bad doings so that was nice. I was entertained.
Oh boy was this good
Merry is at it again! I must say I didn't catch onto. The Twinkies at all. That was a well kept secret throughout the whole book. Good job! Great plot twists, holds ones attention all the to the last word where you are laughing. If you are not a reader of Leslie Langtry books, they are creative, funny, And Moorish, the more you read the more you want to read them.
Love this series
This series is highly recommended to anyone who likes to laugh. Merry and her Girl Scout troop are at it again. I always hate to finish one of these books, it seems like forever until the next one. Ms Langtry has created an unforgettable cast of characters. If you haven't tried this series you are missing a great read. In my opinion the series just gets better. I promise if you don't laugh at least once you can't be human.
Hilarious and great fun to read....loved it!
Once again, Leslie Langtry takes us on a caper-filled adventure with hijinks, mishaps and plain old fun. I laughed so hard throughout the book. Again, I am a huge devotee of the Girl Scout Betty...she is my hero. When I see Leslie has another book up for release, I auto buy. Highly recommended. Loved this book! Always a delight
These books are always a delight. The caper may be solved a bit too slickly by Merry near the end, but getting there is so much fun. I hope to get more attention on Riley and his assistant in a mystery in the future because they are intriguing. The troop is always a hoot and I really hope there is a focus on their project involving Mr. Fancypants in the future.
Hilarious!
You can’t miss with this book. Lots of fun, laughter and Girl Scouts! I truly believe these Scouts will take over the world one day. Kerry’s sister-in-law gives her a stuffed Maltese Vulture and it seems the action starts from there. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, I highly recommend you begin with book one. Lots more fun that way!
No spoilers
As always Ms Langtry put out another very funny book. The characters are quirky the mystery fun. The interaction with merry and the animals along with the girl scout troop make me laugh so hard. I just wish the book's came out faster. Also give Emmy Grace (Lucky series) a try extremely funny.
Hilarious
What a laugh out loud till tears are streaming down your face read . Can’t wait for the next installment and see what hijinks Merry and her band of Girl Scouts get into . A must read

This is another laugh out loud winner! I've read every book in this series and none disappoints! If you like a good mystery wrapped in honestly good characters who just happen to fall into crazy situations, read this book!

Fun read!
Always a fun read....this one is no different. I always enjoy Leslie's books about her girl scout group, and of course, Mr. Fancypants!
REMEMBER THE MOVIE
I am glad I don't have a Betty or Lauren in my life. They are pretty scary. Even Sophie seems destined for a life of crime. Figuring out the Mastermind was not easy, nor the complex relationships.
Maltese Culture Murder
What an awesome Merry Wrath mystery !! I always enjoy Merry's mysteries and her girl scouts and you can't forget her critters , dead or alive !! I can't wait for a new Merry Wrath mystery !!
Another Winner
I love this series. Leslie Langtry continues to surprise with the antics of Merry Wrath and her troop.
Always Fun!
This one was particularly "chuckle out loud" worthy! Merry Wrath is a hoot. The whole premise is a hoot. An outed CIA spy now a Girl Scout Leader in small-town Iowa! The mysteries are fun!
Love this series
I haven’t been able to stop reading this series since book 1. Please keep writing so I don’t run out!
Hilarious!!
I laughed out loud several times while reading this book. I don't want to leave any spoilers. The Merry Wrath series is great fun. I get very impatient waiting for my next dose.
Great installment of Merry Wrath mysteries!
I love this series so much! I always get a little sad when I am finished reading it knowing that I have to wait for the next installment! I am never disappointed with this series.

Funny, CIA spy, vulture, and combat ready Girl Scouts
Loved this book, a great funny story. I started reading all of the others in the Merry Wrath series. Girl Scout Betty is a riot.

Maltese Vulture Murder earns 5/5 King Vultures...Absolutely Entertaining!
In-laws can be odd, weird even, but Merry’s sisters-in-law may just be the gold standard. Twins loving Randi and evil Ronni are artists who own the Ferguson Taxidermy using their unique artistry, and a few dead creatures, to create inspired dioramas like Battle of Gettysburg all in snakes or Game of Thrones depicted with lemurs. Recently one of their very first projects had been returned, a King Vulture in all its swooping glory, and knowing Merry’s, and her troop’s, personal affinity for the real-life King Vulture at the local zoo on loan from the Smithsonian (It actually saved her life!), this particular work of art finds its way into Merry’s possession! However, it’s break-ins, thefts, strange men, hallucinations, and another dead body that turns up this drama...way up! Brilliant! I am an eager fan of Leslie Langtry and her Merry Wrath series greatly entertained by her writing style full of descriptive language, dialogue fitting the various personalities, nail-biting peril, and an often snarky humor I totally enjoy. The world she has created is filled with a diverse bunch of characters from admirable and talented to quirky, devious, and just plain up to no good. Predicaments, often perilous, include everything in the federal statues and like a roller coaster ride with twist and turns, ups and downs, my head was spinning, but in the end I couldn’t wait to repeat the whole experience. There was plenty of weirdness, mysterious people, suspects, but many seem more local than part of an international gang out for Merry’s head. The Girl Scouts seem better suited to this particular investigation spending some of their valuable skills devising and executing plans to find a mate for Mr. Fancy Pants, the zoo’s real-life King Vulture. One needs to suspend disbelief since no parent would really want their child learning effective stalking techniques....it’s just plain fun! I highly recommend this series! Disclosure: I received an ARC from Gemma Halliday Publishing. My review is voluntary with honest insights and comments.
Another great installment in the Merry Wrath series!
Merry Wrath, a former CIA spy, has another wild adventure with her girl scout troop. Merry was gifted with a stuffed King Vulture by her taxidermist sisters-in-law when strange things start happening around Merry. Merry is at home studying the stuffed King Vulture when she starts seeing strange things and needs to store the stuffed statue where her cats can’t get it. When she decides to go out her bedroom window to get into the garage to retrieve the ladder, and thinks she’s seeing a dead body in her garage, she is then found sleeping with the ladder by her husband. As Merry thinks back to all the strange things going on around her, she figures out the statue must have been coated with LSD! As she tries to figure out the sudden disappearance of other taxidermied birds, who the dead man is that was found in her garage, and mentor another girl scout troop along with her troop. As things get more and more strange, Merry is in the middle of things once again. As she tries to solve the mysteries, we are once again taken along on a wonderful journey filled with twists, turns, and laughs.
Lethal spies and terrifying Girl Scouts
For a retired government agent (definitely not a former assassin for the CIA), Merry Wrath continues to find herself in the middle of abundance of mayhem and murder. While having a somewhat tumultuous relationship with her taxidermist sisters-in-law, the gift of a rejected stuffed King Vulture delights Merry to no end. At least until aforementioned Nellie Lou seems to herald in a string of taxidermy thefts, her own home is targeted, and an ominous team of thugs arrive to lurk around town. It almost makes leading a troop of precocious and possibly sociopathic Girl Scouts seems easy. This continues to be a freshly written, incredibly hilarious mystery series. The Tween scouts have somehow become a thoroughly enjoyable highlight of the books, and never seem too outrageous or annoying. I always look forward to the next installment in the adventures of Merry and her friends, and the next can't come soon enough.
Another outstanding adventure for Merry Wrath! The series keeps getting better!
Another huge hit in the Merry Wrath Mysteries series. The crazy antics of Merry Wrath in Who’s There, Iowa keep getting better and better. The entire lovable cast of characters is back and once again Rex and Merry have murder and mystery in their small town, wait, in their garage! Merry is gifted a beautiful stuffed King Vulture named Nellie Lou from her crazy sisters in law and suddenly the stuffed bird and others start disappearing. The pages are full of crazy theories, outrageous scouting adventures, and a mystery worthy of turning pages all through the night. Hugely entertaining and fun you can’t miss with a Merry Wrath mystery! I was provided with an ARC of this book by the publisher for my honest review.
Just Get This NOW!
This cozy has it all! No spoilers in this review, but here's what you need to know: This book is absolutely fun, hilarious, full of madcap and mayhem along with a mystery to rival the best of mysteries, and a cast of characters that compare to no others! Although it may be helpful to have read the Merry Wrath mysteries before, it's NOT necessary to completely enjoy this book. The story is so engaging, and the characters so well developed (and have you actively imagining the connections) you will have no trouble figuring out all the relationships and discovering the characters that you love to love and love to hate. Everything about this book screams read me now, and trust me when I tell you, you won't be sorry! The stuffed bird angle is so original, it makes you wonder how the author's mind comes up with this stuff. I can't even tell you about how many laugh out loud moments there are, but they just make you want to swipe the pages till the end...then, sadly you have to wait for the next madcap mystery installment of Merry and the gang! I received an advanced copy of this book and am delighted to provide my honest review.
Twists and hilarity
There are a lot of authors I love. I eagerly wait for next books to come out. When reading some of my fav authors, I want to write a review before I've finished 3 chapters because they're just THAT fun! Maltese Vulture Murder feature the amazingly funny antics of the Girl Scout troop, Merry's adventures, and just tons of fun. Mr. Sun and Mr. Moon? OMG. I'd been holding onto the book for a while - until a new Merry Wrath novel came out. Now it's out and I'm off to buy it. I may have to restrain myself from reading for a while tho. The books end too soon! Or maybe it's time to reread from the beginning. That might hold me for a while! Thank you, Ms. Langtry!
This is indeed my favorite series.
Could there be a soulmate for Mr. Fancy Pants? Anything is possible! This book adds a little more personality with Merry’s sisters-in-law, Randi and Ronni, who are a bigger part of the story this time. Plus, add in plenty of action when a stuffed vulture causes all kinds of havoc. Leslie Langtry continues to amaze me with her humor and ability to write bizarre situations and make them seem like normal day-to-day life with Merry Wrath/Ferguson! I just loved this book, and can’t wait for the next one in this series. Plus, little Betty just seems to be getting smarter and smarter (and more dangerous) with each book.
Murder & Hilarity!
I’ve read all the books in this series and this one does not disappoint. I think it may be the best one yet! Merry Wrath, former spy finds herself embroiled in yet another murder, this time in her garage. Or as she puts it, on REX’S side of the garage. Besides trying to solve the crime, her girl scout troop as taken on mentoring a younger troop with some unsuccessful leaders. Just the thought of this made me laugh hard! Merry’s girls are unusual, to say the least. I really admire this author as the way she mixes mystery with hilarity is rare. I don’t know how she is going to top this one!!
Another wonderful read!
As all of her books, this one is very funny with lots of possible scenarios and a surprise ending. Absolutely adore the Girl Scout troop and each child with a unique and quirky personality. They are so precious and display unbelievable antics. Rex and Riley play smaller roles while Merry and Kelly are in the forefront. As in previous adventures, there is laugh out loud humor. Really enjoy the background stories of Merry's previous escapades as a government spy. A must read that although could be a stand alone, may be best to start with book one as they do build upon one another.
Fantastic! So much fun!
Even when Merry isn't involved, every strange case (ok, murder) in Who's There seems to circle back to her. When a body is found in their garage, Merry quickly points out to Rex that it is on his side! Then it becomes a contest as to who can solve the case first!! You have to appreciate author Leslie Langtry's sense of humor and acceptance of quirky behavior as you read this thirteenth (13th!!!) adventure in this phenomenal series. Guaranteed to make you burst out laughing, it is one of the more convoluted books I have read! And I mean that in the best way possible! Ms Langtry has delivered a sure fired hit! I can hardly wait to see what happens next! Personally, I would like to learn more about Reilly's assistant, Claire. She is too good to be true! Write faster LL!
Fantastic!
I have read every one of Leslie Langtry’s books. This series is about a former CIA Operative, who was “ outed” and now leads a girls out troop. They have many adventures and her troop is like none I have ever known. This time Merry and her co-leader, help two new leaders of a younger troop- in this troop is a fire starter. Let the adventure begin! Plus Merry gets a taxidermied King Vulture from her sister-in-law. Add in a couple of weird guys and other missing/stolen animals that have been taxidermied and a guy is murdered and ends up in her garage!
This series is so much fun!
Another crazy, wonderful glimpse into the mind of ex-CIA agent, current Girl Scout leader Merry Wraith! It worries me a little that I find this woman to be so hilarious and yet so deadly at the same time! Hahaha! This mystery has A LOT of twists and turns! I couldn’t put it down. I was completely blown away by the ending! Such fun! If you have a sense of humor that is on the strange side and you love a good mystery, then you need to read the Merry Wraith mystery series! They are stand-alone books, but I recommend starting at #1 to get to know Merry and her crazy life!
Mary Wrath does it again, in style or maybe not.
This is one of my most favorite mystery series. Mary Wrath as usual stumbles herself into solving another mystery with all the style and grace of an amateur. But she isn't an amateur, she is a retired, not of her choosing, CIA agent. But she is carrying on the old traditions. When Mary is drugged she imagines somebody breaking into her house, the one across the street. Still in her drug induced stupor she she stumbles over a body or is she just hallucinating from the drug. This book has everything you will need for a great cozy mystery. Humor, mystery and a little touch of romance. I received this ARC for an honest and unbiased review.
Another madcap Merry Wrath adventure
No one would believe that Merry’s sisters-in-law would give her a falcon that has drugs on it and is an attractive nuisance for her cats and seems to be something other people want. All so strange but not so strange since we are in Merry’s world where nothing surprises me. This book made me laugh and kept me guessing as to why all this was happening—is it someone from Merry’s past? The troop is back to help. I highly recommend this series.,
Will Make You Smile
Merry is gifted with a stuffed King Vulture which leads to lots of laughs when her pets are not happy with this deceased bird. While the girl scouts are in love with it (of course). I smiled the whole time I was reading this. From her strange in-laws, two guys calling themselves Mr. Sun and Mr. Moon and a bad LSD trip this story moves at a fast pace. There are several laugh out loud moments. This series is ideal for every independent woman, mother and young adult that likes adventure.
Another King Vulture
Merry's experiences always leave a smile on my face and this one does not disappoint. Merry finds another king vulture, a stuffed prize from her sister-in-law, and begins to worry when other stuffed birds start to disappear. She dodges bad guys while still leading her Girl Scout troop and training two new troop leaders. These books are always a fun read. NOTE: I received an ARC for an honest review.
More fun and mayhem in Who's There, Iowa.
Merry Wrath is one of my favorite series. I love Merry and her merry band of friends, miscreants, smart and savvy Girl Scout troop, and of course sexy Rex. Maltese Vulture, besides being a laugh out-loud read, has a great mystery and lots of suspense. I read it quickly because I couldn't put it down. Tip: Don't try reading this before bed. You won't want to stop reading and could lose a night's sleep. I know.
Laugh out loud funny
Once again Merry Wrath is back with murder, mayhem, and girl scout hi jinx along for the ride. This book is great as a stand alone but even better as part of the whole hilarious series. This might be one of my favorite Merry Wrath books with so many laugh out loud scenes as well as a peek at a different more serious side of Merry. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series.
Fun to read
Merry Wrath, ex-spy and Girl Scout leader with two very creative taxidermist sisters-in-law. She's not your typical small town Iowa resident and this isn't your typical mystery. It's funny, quirky and crazy with a surprise twist at the end. I've read all 13 Merry Wrath Mysteries and it is one of my favorite series. Author Leslie Langtry has an amazing imagination.
Another fun, enjoyable adventure in this series!
This series never disappoints - Merry's newest adventure is a wonderful, laugh out loud read and the cast of characters is always fun and quirky. Love the "race" to see who solves the case first and Merry's investigations - more of her troop's antics is great. Great read to relax with. I received an ARC from the publisher for purposes of an unbiased review.
So much to love!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. I really love this series by Leslie Langtry. Merry’s Girl Scout troop is always up to the most hilarious antics. In this installment, we get a lot of the troop. Kelly and Merry’s troop is mentoring a daisy troop. Reading about the interactions of the two groups of girls are wonderful. Maltese Vulture Murder also features Merry’s kooky sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Randi. A stuffed animal thief is on the loose! I just can’t get enough!
I loved this book!
I love Merry Wrath and all the residents in Who's There, Iowa in this must-read series that just continues to get better with a can't put down fun mystery in "Maltese Vulture Murder". If you enjoy laugh-out-loud cozy adventures, don't miss this book. I received an advance reader copy from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Love this series!
Leslie Langtry writes such an amazing group of characters in this series. Every book is laugh out loud funny and keeps you guessing until the end. That makes for such an enjoyable read. I am always so sad when I reach the end of the book. This latest story in the series doesn’t disappoint. Must read!
Two Vultures
Leslie Langtry is a wonderful author who fills her books with humor and delightful characters. Maltese Vulture Murder lives up to her amazing standards of writing spectacular books. Merry Wrath and her troop of fearless girls solve another crime. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Wonderful book
Sass and a sense of humor: that is what Merry has in spades! Quirky and funny! The ending took me completely by surprise, and I love that! I want to be surprised in a murder mystery. I want to be wowed and that is exactly what happened! Another wonderful book in this wacky series!
Another hit !
As usual, this book didn't deceive ! Full of humor, suspense and great action. I absolutely love the characters, and with the new troop coming into the mix, I see an even greater futur for this series ! I'm really looking forward to the next book.
I love these mysteries - and the girl scouts!
In Maltese Vulture Murder the twins finally give Merry a gift she appreciates - a stuffed King Vulture named Nellie Lou! That is when the fun begins! The usual characters plus some new baddies and a convoluted plot kept my interest from the beginning. These books are just so entertaining. If you have not met Merry, you should do so immediately!
Another great Merry Wrath mystery!!
