Great for people new to virtual assisting

This is a fantastic introduction to what virtual assistants can do. This book goes over how to determine your service offerings, where to find clients, and interviewing. While all the components of interviewing and invoicing were covered, I would have appreciated seeing actual examples of an invoice and pitch to understand the layout. Overall, this is a good first step to learning how to get started as a virtual assistant.

It's a literal step-by-step walkthrough of all the basics you need to know to get started right away – and not only get your business started, but earning income also. A no nonsense book

I didn't know there were so many different options to work as a Virtual Assistant. While I'm not what I would call a techie, there were several jobs I could/can do to start my journey in self-employment. This is a straight forward no nonsense tool to becoming self-employed as a VA.

A "Go T"o book for Freelancers and Virtual Assistants

I am using this book to add additional knowledge to Gina's course 30 days or Less to Virtual Assistant Success that I am currently taking to begin a VA business part-time. It is an easy read with everything a person would need to know to get started; as well as encouragement along the way, for those of us that are not tech savvy to make the leap. It is insightful with humor and all the tools to embark on this adventure. Excellent!

This book was so informative for anyone wanting to know more or thinking about becoming a VA. It was easy to read and gave great information. It provided things that someone may not think about from what to charge to how to prepare your online presence. Thank you for creating this book.

Feeling More Ambitious and Hopeful Now

I had been interested in trying out being a virtual assistant, but I felt lost. I didn't know exactly what I could offer, what made me different than all other offerings, how I could get clients, how to structure the business... In short, I was lost. I had as much idea of what to do as a 10 year-old who wants to be a doctor. This book gave me the outline and guidance for what I need to do, and how. Now I can settle down and lay out my plans and take action, which is all that was missing.

Actually a good book

So many of these books end up being not much more than self-promotion for the author. Not this one. It is really well written and packed with tips and strategies laid out in a very organized manner. The inevitable plug to buy the course does not even come into play until the end. This is my second go-around with Gina Horkey. I did take her course three years ago when first starting out in the remote working industry and her course introduced me to many of the facets of online work. Being even then une femme d'un certain age, I was ultimately reluctant to get into the whole social media deal and design and upkeep of a website. This book goes a little easier on that score (actually does not even recommend a website when first starting out!), but does emphasize the necessity of some social media presence. She lays out her strategies in easy-to-read-and-implement steps that anyone can adapt to their situation. Glad I read it; going to give it all another go.

Great Resource

If you've ever thought about starting your own home-based business as a Virtual Assistant, this book is a great resource for getting you up and running. It provides the information you need about what is most important to start with, and what can wait until you've obtained a client or two. There are questions to answer as you go along and future goals to think about. It also provides access to a companion workbook.

MUST HAVE for Beginning VAs

I was so excited to have the opportunity to read this, as I have been doing a lot of research on becoming a VA. As a wife and mom, my husband my children are very important to me, but so is having an income to help support my family! I recently learned about the virtual assistant world, and Gina (The Horkey Handbook) was one of the first sources of information I came across. . becoming a VA would give me the ability to spend more time with my family, while using skills I already have, AND earning money for doing this. She is so informative, helpful, and ENCOURAGING. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to add a second income, or even replacing their current income by becoming a VA. The opportunities are out there and Gina helps get you started on the path to finding them.

The Inspiration You Have Been Waiting For!

If you are a newbie to the VA Industry and have been on the fence about becoming a Virtual Assistant, this is a must-read. The book was very easy to understand and serve as a step-by-step guide to starting your VA business. It is jammed packed with information on how to determine your services all the way to where do you find clients to start earning income. Gina is a veteran in the industry and knows her stuff. I highly recommend this read as an introduction to becoming a virtual assistant.

A true path to working from home, even after Covid

I picked up this book during the current Covid crisis, where my day job kept me working from home. Ability to work from home for an employer got me to thinking about working from home for me. Perhaps, the best part of Gina & Sally's book for me was the idea of taking stock of my skills. I had never been asked to do that by an employer. Regular jobs ask you to accomplish tasks and may or may not expect you to know how to accomplish them or will train you. Generally, every task takes on the job training or improvement. These experiences lead to an inventory of skills that I retained. The idea of thinking about these skills, categorizing them and then figuring out how to monetize them was novel. If you have not thought this way before, Make Money as a Virtual Assistant can certainly help you think this way now.

Very helpful for getting started

This book offers practical advice for anyone interested in working as a VA but not sure where or how to start. The book is long enough to give real advice, but not so long as to be overwhelming. This book helps you work out which VA skills you already have to offer. There are implementable strategies and practical steps as well as encouraging words to get you started. Full disclosure: I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent VA Resource!

This book and bonus workbook are wonderful resources for beginner VAs and those who are looking to start a virtual assistant business. I have been researching for a while now how to get myself into the VA business and this book is a great guide with so many helpful tips to help you be successful. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 100+ page book, but it exceeded my expectations! It will my constant go to.

Looking for motivation and guidance to become a Virtual Assistant, look no further!

I have read so many work from home books. However, I have to say this is by far the best one. Gina's step by step guide truly helps you build a Virtual Assistant business from the ground up. I love that every chapter builds on each other and constantly has you evaluating yourself. This is a huge confidence boost as you move through the process to start your own business. She also provides a special bonus that has helped work through each step and the process as a whole. All the resources she gives on top of the book it self are well worth purchasing this book. I highly recommend picking up this book if you have ever considered being a Virtual Assistant as a side job or even full time work from home opportunity.

Will give you that boost of confidence!

I picked up this book thinking that maybe, fairly soon, my new business would need some help from a Virtual Assistant. This despite not quite knowing what they could do to help me, how to work efficiently with a colleague you never get to meet, what they charge, and all the other details of working with a PA. A couple of hours spent reading Gina's book has answered all these questions, but also given me guidance, information and help in other things I need to do in my business. What I like about this book, like all the books Gina and Sally Miller create, is that everything is laid out for you in the logical order of doing them or getting them set up. They do a fantastic job of overcoming the overwhelm of getting a new business going. They offer specific tools to use (that I hadn't found in just doing an Internet search) and tell you what these tools excel at, or if there are limitations. You get the "Why" and the "How" in this book, enough to get your business launched and earning. Best of all, this book is like a smart and encouraging friend, the one with answers and able to provide that gentle push to get from just wishing I could get a side gig going or leave the 9-to-5 to actually being in business, helping clients and getting paid. Great book for people who want to offer PA services online, but also for anyone else just starting out in any type of online business who needs practical, actionable advice.

No more excuses, she lays it all out for you

I've been contemplating becoming a VA for almost a year now and after reading this book, I'm ready to jump in. This book lays it out to easily, literally step-by-step so there's no excuse. The author evens provides tips on how to find your marketable skills, where to take them, how to get leads. There is no better way to learn how to become a VA than this book right here. Highly recommend.

Start as a VA Today!

Need extra cash during a pandemic (or anytime)? Casually thinking about being a Virtual Assistant? Get started now by grabbing this book! This book is a quick, but value-filled read to encourage you to start as soon as possible. Gina Horkey began her own VA business while working her 9-5 job and raising 2 kids, and it shows in her efficient advice. You’re likely to find many things that you can do (and get paid for right now) through her list of “150+ Services That You Can Offer as a VA”. What I like best about the book is that Gina advises on where people get stuck, and reminds the reader to simplify and do the things that matter. She gives practical advice about setting rates, finding clients, interviewing, invoicing, contacts, and how to get paid. This book is a must-read to get you started quick and on the right path to your new VA career. Highly recommended!

Good Advice

I've looked at many guides into setting up a business but working as a virtual assistant is an extremely broad field. This book and the workbook really helped me define what services I wanted to offer and which services if could offer if the need arises. It helped me bring things into better focus and narrow down exactly what and how I wanted to accomplish my goals. The book gives you a practical approach and reasonable steps to getting set up and building your business to the exact level, big or small, that you want. I would recommend this as an excellent reference for current or aspiring virtual assistants and other remote agents.
