Elin Peer
Damian took a bullet for me when I was seventeen.
He didn’t ask for my heart in return, but it’s been his ever since.
We are as different as night and day. He’s fun-loving and outgoing while I’m skeptical of new people and prefer to avoid social events.

So, why did I agree to be handcuffed to him for a full week in the name of science? It’s not because he dared me to do it, or because I need the money that comes with it. I’m the CFO of Solver Industries, after all.
It’s because I’m turning twenty-nine, and I’m sick and tired of my heart comparing every man to Damian when my brain knows full well that he’s far from perfect.

If my plan works, an overdose of the large Irishman should kill my crush on him and finally set me free.

Lumi
is the third installment in Elin Peer’s psychological drama series, Cultivated. Readers rave about Elin Peer’s ability to make the characters jump off the page and stay in your thoughts for a long time after you close the book. If you love romance with depth, a fast pace, a bit of steam, and some great dialogue, then you've found your next read.

The thinking woman’s romance

Elin Peer is so wise, so insightful that a five star review for one of her books is a given. You’ll never have to plow through long-winded explanations because her dialogue easily reflects motivation and character, just as it’s meant to do. Her characters come alive so that you subconsciously believe that they’re somewhere on the planet, living out the circumstances of the plot. The best part of this book was the simmering love, ready to boil over any minute. That breathless waiting is the sexiest element of all! So many books are written by amateurs who are trying too hard to write what they think readers want. Really good writers create from the very best of themselves, writing books that reflect who they really are. Those are the stories we love. Like this one; starring the beautiful, flawed Lumi, who is healed by love.

EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD READ!

Truly enjoyed this book...full stop! Lumi and Damian’s love engulfed you from the beginning. The plot was ingenious and at times I wanted to hurry the unfolding of the moment when they moved out their own way and recognized their love for each other. I enjoyed the first book while the second book in this series did not do it for me as much as the first...but I’m so happy I read about Atlas because of Jolene, that chick ROCKS...LOVE HER! She is so pivotal in this book and I hope she is the tread to keep this loving but damaged family together for the future books with the remainder siblings. Y’all check out this awesome series...you learn so much and the writing is PHENOMENAL! I already prepaid for Nathan and River’s books and will most definitely prepay for Maximum, the last novel of this series once it is available.

Great psychological themes!

This is a fun book about two people who have loved each other for years but have had various reasons for staying apart, including things like social anxiety and other psychological problems resulting from past trauma. There is a lot of psychological information in the book which was fun to learn but the biggest learning experience came from reading about the challenge that was given to them to help solve the psychological problems. They must be handcuffed to each other for a week while completing various exercises, like answering personal questions. Another great learning experience came from reading about all the body language cues that helped people figure out their real feelings. I wish there had been a little more suspenseful action in the book, maybe increasing the problems with the CEO of the company. I wonder what it would have been like to have to run or fight while handcuffed! But in the end, it is the HEA that made it all worth reading through their emotional struggles.

Damian and Lumi

I loved, loved, loved this book!! I have hoped for Damian’s story since the beginning, loving his side character. When Damian and Lumi’s paths cross in the mansion, their lives are forever changed. They form a bond which lasts for years. Both want more over time, but are unwilling to risk their friendship or pride. Their story was heart wrenching, complicated, and I loved every minute. Elin Peer can write characters and stories like no one else I’ve ever read. Love her!!

Love Conquers All

"Lumi" is the third book in the Cultivated series written by Elin Peer. I found Lumi interesting and fascinating. Interesting, because this series of books gives the reader a good look at life within a cult. We get an indepth window into the actions of someone who has complete control over a group of people who want to believe. Fascinating, because we are drawn to Lumi's trouble with relationships. We get a view of a woman who has a tough exterior but is scared to open herself and say what she feels to the one she loves. I enjoyed reading 'Lumi," and I strongly encourage you to read 'Lumi.'

Brilliant

In between what is happening with Lumi and Damien in the present, the author is little by little revealing the history of their relationship. It was a brilliant approach to narrating the background story without jarring the current narrative. It was smoothly interspersed which I thought was brilliant. Another brilliant move by the author is the use of a social experiment. It engages a reader’s mind as well as showcase the leashed steam between Damien and Lumi. This book is another intriguing and enjoyable read in the Captivated series.

Exceptional

Another exceptional book in this series. I have to say that the tension you feel between Lumi and Damian leaps from the pages. When you read about some of the things holding them back (trying not spoil anything) you want to reach into the pages and shake them and tell them to get it together! lol I think that is the work of a great author, someone who can make you feel things so intensely when you are reading words on a page! These characters are well developed and complex. I love that we get to see/hear about all the auxiliary characters that you fell in love with in book 1. I can not wait to read Nathan's story next!!

Women kick A**

This is the 3rd Book in the “Cultivated Series” by Elin Peer. I suggest you read the first 2 books so you can really understand why Lumi ( the Main Character of this book) is the way she is. I think all woman want to be a little like Lumi. SHe is a strong, take no Sh** , get out of my way ,..this is my world type of woman. I think its very easy to relate to Lumi . Love, true love or just a crush, is still hard to truly figure out if it is meant to be or not. Fear is so controlling but Lumi finds her way through the fear to get what she has always wanted...Acceptance(as a strong woman)..Love(without doubt) ...& Family(without shame)!! Author Elin Peer continues to surprise me ...with her out of the box thinking with her characters....refreshing and so relatable. 5-STARS PG-25 MRS.C. :)

Masterpiece!

OMG! This book was a masterpiece! This was Book Three in the Cultivated Series and told Lumi's story. This book and series had an original storyline. I read this book in one sitting and lost sleep but it was well worth it! Damien and Lumi were great characters! The book was so well written the characters seemed to jump off of the pages and be real. I highly recommend this book and recommend reading the series in the order in which they were written.

My Favorite So Far

I think Lumi is my favorite book of the Cultivated series so far. Elin Peer's books just keep getting better and better. Damian was the Irish policeman who saved teenage Lumiere during the cult massacre. He took a bullet meant for her. Is the love she feels just infatuation or is it more? This is a beautiful love story. Damian and Lumi are wonderful realistic characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series to be published.

Sleepless nights

I get completely lost in the books from Elin.. I love them. This book was not any different. I couldn’t put it down. I love the devotional way her characters change and take form. I love how the relationships between the people in the book are always evolving. And how she comes up with so many different characters is some thing you can only do if you are truly interested in the relationships between people. It fascinates me in all her books. If you have not already been completely sleepless with her books in your hand, a whole world of interesting people is waiting for you.

This series Cultivated about surviving a cult is so unique and different in each story. Lumi and Damian are no exception. Damian took a bullet for Lumi when she escaped the cult. Handcuffed together as an experiment to help face the fears and their love for each other. The flashbacks are great for more depth of their story.

Lumi Was Absolutely Amazing!

No spoilers of any kind included! I thought Lumi was absolutely amazing! Elin Peer weaving skills are plain addicting I just can’t get enough of her books! So it’s definitely going to be a big HECK YEAH I do recommend this book but if you haven’t read the first two books then I highly suggest that you do that way you’ll experience everything from the very beginning.

Lumi's complicated past is no problem for this man of the law...and he even comes with handcuffs!

WHO DOESN'T WANT TO FALL IN LOVE...with a man who saves you life? Who doesn't love the girl who is just perfect...for you, not everyone else. Lumi comes from a very complicated past and Damian is just the guy to uncomplicate things for her. YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS UNLIKELY DUO!

True love

What a heart wrenching story. She had loved him from a afar her whole life. He was the man she based all others on. He wanted the one thing he thought he couldn’t have, her. Both to proud give an inch. Loved this story from page one. You could feel the emotional rollercoaster these two were on. Another great read by this author.

Best in the series thus far!

This book in the Cultivated series did not disappoint! I was so excited to see how Lumi and Damian’s relationship would progress and it was perfect. The way the characters were forced together made their chemistry palpable and the emotional back and forth was done flawlessly. Normally that kind of character dynamic gets redundant, but not in Lumi. So good!

Wow so worth the wait!

Book 3 of Cultivated series. I was looking forward to reading this book, and it was so worth the wait! But make sure you read them in order to avoid any spoilers! I really love these characters!

Lumi's story... (Lumi & Damian)

Lumi is the 3rd book in the Cultivated series by Elin Peer. Elin Peer just keeps hitting home run after home run with this fabulous series. I really thought the 1st book would be hard to beat, yet this author just keeps churning out these books with amazing, flawed characters and storylines that keep the reader engrossed from start to finish. I already know the day I plan on reading Elin Peer's newest work that it'll be pizza (pre-ordered) for dinner and very little sleep for me! Knowing that this is Lumi's story had my anticipation up. I love the way Elin Peer slowly pulls back layer after layer of each character until they are raw and exposed. That the love interest often sets off this chain of events adding even more to the story. Motivating the main character to dig deep for healing because like almost everyone...they just want to be loved. The support they get from their love interest is perfect. Interestingly enough there is such a struggle for them to actually come together. And the chemistry is always just right. But these books aren't *just* love stories. They touch on subjects that are relevant today. Cults exist even if we don't want to admit it. The psychological impact cults have on individuals varies just like the author has touched on for 3 books now. I love to read books that can engage my brain, teach me something interesting, and have a good love story. Elin Peer has done all that and then some. Lumi's story had me locked within it's pages until the very end. I received an ARC of this book. I have voluntarily chosen to leave my review in support of the book and author. All views and opinions expressed are mine and mine alone. If this review was helpful to you please click the "helpful" button below. Thank you!

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

This is one of those books that you can’t put down no matter the time of night or what you’re supposed to be doing. I absolutely love Lumi and Damian together! Honestly, throughout the other books Lumi seemed like a less relatable character. However, after reading this book I found that I relate to her in so many ways. She’s been hurt in every way possible by so many different people. Even at such a young age she learned to be distant, untrusting, cynical, and an introvert. The rocky, forbidden relationship between Lumi and Damian has been a long time coming and it was an amazing, heart-wrenching journey that I recommend to any and everyone. Not only is it an amazing story between two people who are destined to be together but you also learn something along the way.

Lumi: life after a cult

Lumi, Cultivated Series 3, by Elin Peer. I cracked the first chapter of Lumi, the third book in Elin Peer's new series Cultivated the afternoon I received it at 3 p.m. I was finishing at 7 a.m. the following morning. I read right through supper, all evening, deep into the night and right into the next morning. I was so enthralled by the twenty-year-long on-again-off-again romance between Lumi Robertson and Damian O'Rourke that I forgot everything and just became the story. Lumi was a 17-year-old teenager when Damian, a member of the Irish Garda, rescued her from a vicious cult, taking a bullet meant for her in the process as the cult-leader ordered his followers to suicide. Her mother, her only trusted friend, had just been killed. She never forgot it, and neither did he. As she grew into stunning adulthood, she regarded Damian as a "friend", but in reality, both individuals loved each other and didn't know how to express it. Damian was a decade older than she and felt he had to protect her from predatory males. The key to this novel, however, is a psychological test devised by her brother's mate, psychiatrist Jolene. Recognizing the passion the two felt for each other, she designed an "experiment" to get the pair to admit their feelings for each other by challenging them to live for a week, handcuffed together. They must share their most intimate activities and report their progress daily. As you can imagine, this led to all kinds of agony, because the trauma Lumi had experienced as a teenager had led her to distrust men altogether, and had led to the breakup of several potential love relationships. Novelist Peer is a master at building tension in relationships, and this one rises to the point where the reader thinks it's going to explode in bloodshed. When the novelist pulls the trigger, the release is like a bucket of ice-water in the face. There is a sudden gasp, then the realization that something incredible just happened, and then the resumption of normality with everything reversed. I liken this to a recognition of the Absurd--a sense that the world you knew is wrong, and it's opposite is, in fact, reality. Peer continues to draws on her background as a life coach with an in-depth knowledge of character, personality, and emotion. It's the psychological aspects of this novel that make it so powerful. Jolene plays a central role in getting Lumi and Damian to tell the truth, to be honest with each other, and in so doing sets the stage for the conclusion. But the recognition of their love for each other isn't the end. Following the couple's Epiphany, Peer builds on that recognition to deepen the romance and shape a future free from the agonies of the past. It takes a compelling writer to wring that kind of emotion out of me, and it's not the first time Peer has done it. But I think it's probably the most incredible expression of the power of words to change worlds. There is much more to this story that the love between Damian and Lumi. Along the way, we meet others of the Robertson and O'Rourke families. These include Lumi's adopted brothers and sisters River. Nathan, Maxim, Atlas, Damian's sister Kit, and, of course, Jolene, Atlas's fiancée. All of them play unforgettable roles in this drama. As it happens, I received a piece of bad news the same day I started reading this book. The government has suspended my driver's license because of a minor fault in my vision. I should have been shocked, but I wasn't. The power of this book drove any sense of regret and anguish right out of my mind. Anything strong enough to do that is worth reading. Words change worlds.

Outstanding lesson in life and love…

Once again, Elin Peer’s background in life coaching lends itself beautifully to a unique plot centered around two very different personas, Lumi and Damian, coming to terms with their relationship spanning twelve plus years. What repeatedly draws them together but then pushes them apart? Can a one week long experiment reveal thoughts and feelings that have been suppressed or ignored? None of us are perfect. We all have experienced times when we have acted upon our own assumptions and didn’t bother to check them out beforehand. What happens when we are restrained by old habits to avoid getting hurt? These circumstances are all too common in many people’s lives which is why it is so refreshing to see how Elin Peer sheds creative light on this couple and what develops between them when there is little or no room for escape... The idea of being handcuffed together not only helps to resolve their issues but keeps us entertained and focused on their relationship and others involved in this captivating story. So far, this has been a wonderful series – each book is its own expression of another couple’s search for love and acceptance. However, there is no redundancy, each story is special and the characters really come to life on the page. I do recommend reading these books in order since it is a family affair linking them back to a critical incident that each has been coping with differently thus bringing unique challenges to each of their relationships. The books are very well written and highly recommended for pleasure and perhaps a little gentle therapy. I received an arc and this is my honest and voluntary review.

WOW !!!

Elin keeps making this series better and better. She has the unique ability to draw you in her books as if you were right along inside with the characters. I read this book in one night. I loved it. Damien and Lumi have been attracted to one another for 10 years. Neither one could really commit to a relationship without comparing it to their feelings for the other. Their chemistry is off the charts. They agree to be tethered to one another for a week for a scientific study for Elin's future sister in law. She knew that this would make or break them. What a wild ride they take you on during this week. I highly recommend reading this book. It is so well written. Keep 'em coming Elin!

Elin Peer ... Lumi (Cultivated)

OMG, Elin Peer's books go from BEST to BEST EVER! Lumi fell in love with Damien when he stepped in front of a bullet to save her when she was a precocious 17 year old from cult leader O'Brien's plot to have the whole membership kill themselves. Damien is a hero in so many ways and left no stone unturned to be available to Lumi without ever taking advantage of her, first because he was 10 years older and then for other valid reasons. Nearly 12 years later this treatment has Lumi completely confused and bound in her love life and Damien himself no less bound. But her big brother Atlas and his love, Jolene, suggest an experiment to cure Lumi of her reticence to trust men enough to let them close to her: be handcuffed to a man for a week. Damien quickly volunteers and Lumi eventually agrees. Elin tells the story of this week with flashbacks of their relationship through the years. The pages fly, the characters so interesting in their total oppositeness, the story so real even in its uniqueness, and Peer's way with words just pure joy.

Cultivated #3

OMG!!! This is the best book in this series so far. Damian grabbed my attention in the first book so I was happy this book was about him and Lumi. Handcuffed together for a week. I was kind of hard on Lumi at first until I realized what happened in the past to make her act the way she did. There are a lot of hurdles for this couple to overcome to get to there Happy Place. It also sets the events in motion for the next book. Complex characters, controversial subjects and a story line that keeps you coming back for more

Inside a brilliant and captive mind

Lumi is a survivor. She's done well with building a wall around her of protection which has kept her cold and standoffish to those who don't know her. While she has loved Damien with all she's had for years their rocky history has also been the main reason her heart is not open to the love she craves. While Damien has always loved her he has allowed or used various excuses to keep her at bay. Their story is one of pain and heartbreak each being apart of the problem and the solution. Breaking through their past and their personal blockades can only be done with complete honesty. But getting through those blockades will take intervention of the best, by the best and that wont be easy. This series is so different from what we have become used to by this author at the same time being a perfect example of what she does best. It's clinical while being invasive to the mind and soul. She breaks it all down with flashbacks as they go through the experiment. It's hard to continue to love Damien when you know the story but also easy to see the how and why. You can't help but get wrapped up in their story while sharing in their heartbreak. It's an amazing story of love, support, family and life. Absolutely ripped my emotions to shreds and gently put them back together. Their story doesn't end here, it's only their beginning. With this series you do need to read each book as the author reveals just how intertwined these survivors forever will be.

A story of true love.....

Janet Harrall's review Feb 12, 2020 · edit it was amazing Damien and Lumi’s story is my favourite so far. When Damien saved her life there was always going to be a closeness between them and although she crushed on him for years, her feelings never went away. Damien being a lot older ended up married thinking he was doing the right thing. Then Jolene came up with ludicrous social experiment handcuffing Lumi and Damien together. She knew they had feelings for each other. I love that all the family are in each of these stories and always feel like I’m part of that family. The chemistry between Damien and Lumi was off the charts and there were a few laughs and a lot of emotion during their time together. I also loved the flash backs giving us the full story of events over the years. Elin Peer really know how to pull you into her books....a brilliant story!!

anther great read

Have you read the first two books in Elin Peer's "Cultivated" series yet? If not, then you REALLY need to do yourself a favor and find the time to fit them into your schedule. You won't be disappointed! If you have and if you're like me, she has already trained you to set the bar high for what to expect from one of her books and this one is no exception. Lumi and Damian both have such flawed personalities they become totally relatable and pulled me into the story almost immediately. And the storyline? So amazing. It's an emotional rollercoaster full of psychological intrigue and self discovery. I see the wrinkle in your forehead. Did I mean self discovery for the characters or the reader? That seems to be the light bulb moment because I don't think I could've gone down that rabbit hole with our characters and NOT come out untouched, so I'd have to say both. But isn't that the mark of an outstanding author? When they can somehow tell their story and have it make some type of impact on you personally? Another great read!

Damian and Lumi makes you smile with their antics

I enjoyed the look into Lumi's life and how she learned to cope in such a short time after years of keeping everything close to the vest and finding out her and Damian through the years had gone through their own trials. Liv and Charles think of them as their kids and try to make sure that they listen and try to encourage them all. Jolene is definitely a boost in helping all of the siblings go out into the world with their best foot forward even though the pack between them might hinder recovery a bit in some ways they are not quite aware of but time will tell. A Really beautiful story of how what happen did something different and damagaing to each child now adult in different ways. Romantic suspense. I was given an ARC as a gift from author without obligation. I am providing an honest review.

The effects of a cult

This is the third book in this series. Each book is a stand alone although the first book "Charlie" gives you background on all the characters. This book is about Lumi. Damian saved her life while rescuing her from a cult. These two have become good friends throughout the years. Because of her cult background Lumi had a hard time with commitment. Damian and Lumi agree to an experiment proposed by her brother. That's where the story really hooks you in. There were times I wanted to shake both of them to make them see what was right in front of their faces. That's what I like about Elin's books. Her writing style draws you right into the book. This series so far is a definite 5 stars.

Lumi

Wow this is a very gripping story that pulled me in from the start to finish, its a real page turner. Can Lumi get past her fears. The Author has really brought a fantastic read to fruition. This is a fantastic series that I highly recommend. Shauna Joesten

Loved it

This is a fantastic series and I love the fact that it deals with a cult. Even though these are stand alones technically they are interlocking characters so you should start from book 1 to get the complete feel of who everyone is, and this one is my favorite of the series so far. Lumi has been through so much in her life that she is beyond jaded but one thing she knows she’s in love with Damien and wants to try to get over the problems that still plague her the next she can so when her experiment is to be handcuffed to him for a week he happily agrees cause he’s been in love with her for a very long time also. Damien is literally Lumis hero on every level and it was intriguing reading about them deal with the trauma of there past

Love Elin's books, this one too!!

Gah, I LOVE Elin's books!! This one is like the rest, excellent!! I love meeting Elin's characters in the beginning and then getting to know them better in their own book!! Great story line, I couldn't imagine being cuffed to Anyone for a week!! The grammar and writing is perfect, the characters you will fall in love with, they always seem to come to life in Elin's books and you feel with them and for them. Also, great love scenes, always so steamy!! I would definitely recommend this read! I received this book as an arc and am happy to suggest you read it!

Be prepared to lose sleep!

This new series by Elin Peer is probably her best yet. I take that back. Her Slave series was pretty awesome and the Color series rocked. Oh and let's not forget the Men of the North Series! *Sigh* I don't think the woman can write a bad book! This latest installment in the Cultivated series is one that I couldn't put down once I picked it up. Yeah, I lost sleep that day. It's one of those books where you keep saying "one more chapter" and before you know it you look at the clock and realize you have to be up in 2 hours. Well worth it. Definitely worth it.

Wanting each other for years but don’t say anything!

This is Lumi and Damien’s story and was perfect! She has compared all men to Damien and found them all lacking. She is to be handcuffed to him for a week and hopes these tests will make her get over him. He’s wanted her it seems forever but doesn’t say anything. But will this test will he finally say something and see where it all goes? This was a wonderful story of two people who has to talk to each other as they had wanted each other for a long time. But will they? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Lumi is Equal to Any So Far

Lumi grabs readers like pizza grabs eaters! One must read Peer as a “serial writer” because her work comes in well thought out patterns. Read every series (Colors and Men of the North, etc) from the first book. Character development begins in Book 1 and doesn’t wain until the last page of the last book in the series. Lumi is no different. Just know that Elon Peer is going to lure you into her character’s thoughts and actions just like a great “everything pizza” entices you to eat it with its savory goodness! Take a bite of Lumi!

~~ Lumi’s conundrum ... can she move on?

She’s been in love with the man who saved her life all those years ago and it’s time to let go of the tie that has bound Lumi to Damian. No more! But what can she do to move on with her life and find that special man who will care for and love her, yet not be intimidated by her? Jolene, Atlas’ girlfriend has some ideas to help Lumi get over this man and open herself up to a new love. Of course it won’t be easy but Lumi is determined. Great storytelling by Elin Peer, another awesome book!

Another great one for this series!!

I absolutely loved Lumi and Damian’s story. Lumi has her demons and triggers but Damian has his hang ups and control issues as well. It is interesting to see how they deal with the experiment and how it all unfolded. I adore author and the way she takes a story and pulls a reader into this world and makes you feel a part of it...I also love how the other characters from the other books make an appearance and are continuing into the series...continuity is crucial. Another great one!

Lumi and Damian, a wonderful couple

This series just keeps getting better and better. Lumi has had a crush on Damian since he took a bullet for her and saved her life the night of the massacre. Unfortunately she never realized he loved her in return. All the characters in this series are so completely developed and realistic. Their relationship is unique and the romance sweet. Each story has been different but still related to the central theme. I absolutely love these books and highly recommend them. Although each can be read as a standalone, it's better to start at the beginning.

Facing Fears Head On

Sometimes we all need a little push to get us to face our fears and faults. This story was rich with opportunities to find ways to improve our interactions with our fellow human beings. I love how the author makes me think about my relationships and ways I can improve them; while entertaining me with great characters and a wonderful story. I truly enjoy reading Ms. Peer's books - her books cause me to evaluate my life situations and become a better person. The books have some steam in them - be warned.

A page turner for sure

Another fabulous book in this series. Such a journey of heart break and true love. This is definitely a book that you can’t put down. Once you start it, you have to know what is going to happen next that is for sure. I can not wait too see what happens with Nathan in the next book. I am sure it will be another page turner. Such a great series. I think that every book Elin writes is my favorite and then boom she comes out with another great one.

Excellent read

This is an enjoyable read!! Lumi agrees to participate in this experiment in the hopes she would finally get over her crush on Damian. They are both in for the wake-up call they were not expecting. Although I love Lumi and Damian's characters. I just have to mention that Jolene plays a wonderful deep part in this story even though she is not in it that often. An absolutely great read! Reasons I enjoyed this book: Entertaining, Happily Ever After, Page-turner, Romantic, Wonderful characters

Wonderful addition

As Elin Peer continues to tantalize us with the heartbreaking of these young people we now read of Lumi. A brilliant young woman who has closed herself off from the world except for her family and her work. She has one true love. The man that saved her the tragic night. She was a child but he was her hero. We see the love between them grow. There are sad old memories and beautiful new memories. Many funny parts as only Elin can tell. Great new addition to the Cultivated series.

Best in the Series so far!

I loved Lumi and Damien's story. Their story was so well told and developed. This book was full of laughter with great dialogue, some steaminess and showed the progression from a young girl with hero worship first love to mature true love. Lumi and Damien didn't have an easy or straight road to travel and at times it seemed like they were not going to get it right. Definitely my favorite in the series so far.

Intriguing

I picked this book up on a whim. It’s not the type of book I’d normally choose. I didn’t think I’d get past the first couple chapters, but it’s on kindle unlimited so I figured I’d read a little of it. I’m easily bored, and this wasn’t super fast paced or action packed, but I’ll be honest, I couldn’t put it down. It’s now 1:30am and I just finished reading it in one sitting. I thoroughly enjoyed the romance and the chemistry between these characters. Much of the relationship is told in flashbacks which, again, I would swear would be a turn off. I hate flashbacks, but the author makes it work and I found it was a clever way to allow the story to unfold. Elin Peer kind of rips your heart out and then, just when you think, “Naw, I can’t take anymore of this,” she infuses tender loving moments that made you clutch your chest as you’re reading. I think I’ll have to read the first two books in this series now. Well written.

Can overdose of the one you love cure you?

Lumi an Damian met under the worst of circumstances, but that didn’t stop them from taking notice of each other. But with Lumi being 17 and Damian 10 years older, the time is never right, and are the feeling real or are they because of their dramatic first incounter. 10 years later, and the attraction is still there. Can an overdose of literally being handcuffed to each other brake them or make them?

Handcuffs and Honesty...

Lumi is brilliant - and has been in love with her teenage hero for years. Damian is lovable and sees Lumi as forbidden for various reasons. Now they are handcuffed together for a week and told to be honest with each other. It's humorous to see how they both tried to get around it. This is an intense and wonderful story as they create closure on the past.

An Amazing Story

I am definitely liking this series! Lumi has been hurt so much all through out her life. It is understandable that she has trust issues. Damian is an unbelievable character. He and Lumi makes this story stand out. Ms. Peer has a way of making you feel like you are right their experiencing everything that the characters are going through. Once you start you can't put this book down. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Will not disappoint!

Lumi and Damien's story was exactly what I was waiting for and Elin Peer did not disappoint. I usually love Elin's writing, but I am especially hooked when it comes to a story of unrequited love. Lumi loved Damien since he saved her when she was seventeen years old. Damien on the other hand, 10 years her senior has looked at her differently at different points in their relationship. Being handcuffed together forces them to evaluate their relationship without being able to run and it makes for great reading! Amazing addition to an amazing series!

Age doesn't matter

This book was amazing. The attraction between the characters was a push and pull that drew you in. The history between them made the story. The range of emotions evoked by the plot gas the reader feeling everything. It is a fight against the inevitable. Showing connection and chemistry can overcome age, propriety and indecision.

This author always brings it!

This was very enjoyable. Lots of laughs. Rich In Scottish language. I LOVED Damian and Lumi before and they didn’t disappoint. Great to have book 1 and 2 couples back and involved in the story. Jolene was excellent- like a detective. It made for a great story. I enjoyed Kits parts too. I highlighted quite a bit of my favorite parts. I highly recommend this series.

Fate Finds Love

Elin Peer does it again...the third installment of the Cultivated series “Lumi” doesn’t disappoint! Lumi and Damian’s story is a beautiful tragedy that takes you on a ride from their horrific meeting through to the present. Ms. Peer’s talent for plot and character development and exceptional eye for detail will keep your midnight oil burning.

Not your everyday love story

Just finished reading Lumi on Kindle Unlimited. I'm such a sucker for a great love story, especially one written by Elin Peer. This book blends Lumi and Damien's history seamlessly with their present reality. Their story is a believable one which is easy to insert yourself in. I found myself pulling for them as they worked through their insecurities and fought off her antagonist. And the handcuff experiment is proof of Elin Peer's creativity. Good book ladies.

Ms. Peer has done it again!

Agreeing to be handcuffed to each other for a week was probably insane! Loved the result of that! Not exactly what I expected. So much better! I'm always so impressed by Ms. Peer's books! I recommend them all!

superb

Elin Peer has done it again in her continuing series of Cultivated Lumi book 3. I could not wait to start and was sad when I finished. Looking forward to to the next book. Elin develops her characters in a believable heart felt way that make them so real to the reader. Well done Elin.

friends or lovers?

The third book in the Cultivated Series does not disappoint. Be sure to read the first two books in the series for this one to make the most sense. As always, Elin sprinkles helpful psychology throughout her story which adds depth and interest. Plus, you might learn something! I also enjoyed the way the story filled in what we missed over the years.

Great addition to the series

this Is a bit of a fun read that had my attention. The plot is well developed and strong. The characters come alive on the pages. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Great Read!!!

I enjoyed this book very much. I recommend it to all. I always enjoy reading Elin. She writes a well written book. I absolutely look forward to reading the next one.👏👏👏👏👏👏

Great Read!

Loved this book! Elin Peer does an awesome job creating believable characters in real life situations. She pulls you in and keeps you coming back for more! Can't wait for the next book in the Cultivated series.

I loved it

I just love Damian and lumi...he is so sweet but it was never the right time for them. You will find it what happens when you read about them and i just couldn't put it down until i find out

A love story for the ages.

I have been waiting for Lumi’s story since the first book of the series. I love how Elin never disappoints, I read the book in hours. You literally can not put it down! Elin has a way with entertaining you and making you think at the same time. You will fall in love with the characters, you will cheer for them and you will need more and more!!

Love it

Love it! I was so excited to see lumi and Damian's story and I was not disappointed. Love the characters in this series

Wonderful love story

Wonderful love story. A lot of psychology in this series. I think this could be my favorite book of this series.

Fun story

I enjoy the way Lumi and Damian banter back and forth. They are a fun couple to get to know!

More, More...

I have enjoyed all of Elin's books but this series has been the best...Keep them coming... Lumi finally got what she wanted...Oops...

Loved!

I love all of Elins books. I think they are smart and I feel like I learn something new evertime I read one.

Great third book

Great third book. Love this authors work

Captivating

I absolutly loved this book!!! To see the story between Lumi Robertson and Damian O'Rourke unfold like that was so captivating. I couldn't put the book down!!!

Yay

I have been waiting for Lumi and Damien’s story since Book one. It’s sweet and heartbreaking. Lumi had suffered so much and she just wanted to be loved and accepted. Good book.

A beautiful story, beautifully written.

A difficult and heart breaking path to a truly beautiful love story. I adored Lumi and Damien's story, which is told both in present day along with clearly defined flashbacks to the past. This allows a well paced reveal of many untold and unknown events that have shaped the people they are today. Once started I didn't want to put this down, the excellent writing and engaging storyline kept me hooked. The emotions pour of the page and this was definitely a "box of tissues" read. There were times when I would have liked to have felt more emotion from Damien, mainly in the past and particularly when (view spoiler). His decision, which I understood, didn't come with enough angst and soul searching to convince me of the depth of his feelings at that time. He seemingly made his decision too easily . However in the whole scheme of things it was a minor wrinkle in an otherwise amazing story. Lumi and Damien are both well written, rounded characters. Neither was perfect and Lumi in particular had issues to work through. The concept of the forced physical (but not sexual) intimacy was a really interesting plot device, providing drama and tension alongside some truly thought provoking moments. The story never felt cliched or predictable. Elin Peer 's flawless storytelling is a joy to experience, her finely crafted characters are both believable and likeable. She totally convinced me of the strong connection between Lumi and Damien, as well as the depth of their feelings. She also teased us with both Nathan and River's struggles, leaving me desperate for more of this family.

Another brilliant Elin's book

This is the third book in the Cultivated series. You will not find the same intrigue that was in Charles or Atlas books. This time, the author, Elin Peer, has written Lumi's story including a series of flashbacks. Lumi who was raised amongst a cult, has developed a pattern of having unsuccessful relationships. Hesitantly, she accepts to take part in a new experiment with the aim of overcoming her mental issues. Her friend Damien, who saved her when she was 17 years old, accepts to be handcuffed to Lumi for a week. Secretly, Lumi has been in love with Damien for more than 10 years but has been rejected by him a number of times. She sees the experiment as an opportunity to bring closure to her past and to move on. In contrast, Damien wants Lumi to focus less on her career and to live life more, being happy, laughing and to fall in love with someone who is worthy of her love. I am a massive fan of Elin Peer's work and after reading the previous sequels, I wanted to find out more about the brilliant and graceful Lumi. At first you will think that Lumi is stiff and only driven by work but the more you progress through her story the more you will discover a sensitive woman. Furthermore, I sense she has always been very loyal to her family and to her only true love, even though this has been at the detriment of her own happiness. Additionally, I find Damien's view of Lumi very interesting, along with his complicated feelings for her. In this story, Elin Peer touches on the issues associated with cults. How can you communicate and express your feelings; especially, when you have survived a tragedy and been raised by a psychopath?

The thinking woman’s romance
