Great Book
Love the book. It has good variety and gives you ideas of how to make your own designs using this method. I have 2 of RaNae Merrill's books and this book is a lot like hers. If you want easy piecing, this book is not for you. It involves paper piecing with some pieces of material being small and has lots of seams. The designs can be very intricate. The book has a coloring page for each design that you can copy and color. Pick your colors, color, then make copies of your colored block. You can now move and rotate the blocks to see what designs you can come up with. Try different colors in different orders and try again. There are endless ways to place the fabric to get a totally different looks. I love this type of work so is right down my path.
Informative And Well Written
Beautiful pictures, excellent, well-written directions, even for someone who gets things jumbled very easily. The projects are outlined meticulously, so even though the results look impossibly complicated, if you're willing to put in the work, you can execute them. The quilts won't go together fast. This technique takes time and attention. Samples let the quilter see how shape, color and value can be used to create effects so varied that it's hard to recognize that they are all different editions of the same procedure. It's not for beginners, so be advised that you'll have a easier time if you have a few quilts under your belt before tackling these. It's also helpful if you have some experience with paper piecing. This book is an excellent adjunct to those of RaNae Merrill. Her forte is taking this technique to another level, and her methods, using translucent foundations, help the execution go much more smoothly. Merrill shows how you can use the same technique to make spirals, taking it well beyond the twisted log cabin blocks. Both her spiral and mandala books, and this one, as well, plumb the depth of the endless possibilities for using these blocks to transform your quilts into works of art. This book is a valuable resource, and an excellent starting point.
Super intricate and interesting patterns
This book is full of amazing patterns for the log cabin quilt. The ideas in this book are amazing, and your quilt will never look like a traditional log cabin, but one that is full of interesting colors and design.
Very original and clearly written.
This book is a great addition to a quilting library. Carefully describes how to design your own blocks in many geometric shapes, gives full-color examples, and provides pages to copy to color in to audition your fabric choices. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to experiment with log cabin block designing.
A challenge
This book has some very challenging techniques and quilts. The opportunity to be exceptionally creative is there if you wish or you can follow a pattern as shown and create a very personal quilt. I have really enjoyed reading through it and look forward to using it to create. It is not for the beginner nor for those who are afraid of color.

Ready for the new Challenge!
Log Cabin with a twist is going to challenge new skills for me. I saw a quilt on craftsy from this book and knew this was my next challenge. The book has given me many new ideas, I just wish I had paid more attention to high school math! LOL!!!!
Great book
I really like this book. It's a great way to do something a little different. I can't wait to try one of these quilts.
Recommended
This book was recommended by a multi award winning quilter who said that it had unique geometric patterns that were very helpful.
Beautiful, to hard for me
The quilts in the book are beautiful but as I'm new to quilting they are more involved than I want to do.

Log Cabin with a Twist
The Site ease of use and the fact I was able to review some contents of it were the point of sale for me. And am MORE than HAPPY with this and the other 2 books I have gotten since. This was a 1st time web buy, but was not the last from Amazon.
Great book
Another great addition to my growing collection. These are really unique patters, hoping I will have time soon to try some of them
This is fun
This book has clear instructions and diagrams. These quilts look really neat and more complex than they are.
Great quitting book.,
Just the book to inspire and challenge me!

Log Cabin with a Twist
Great book. Can't wait to start a project from it. The directions were reasonably easy to understand considering that the process is fairly complex.
Great book!!
I would love to try making one of these quilts. Very beautiful quilts and great patterns. Thank you for this.
Endless possibilities
Four stars because I don't happen to like many of the examples of actual quilts, and perhaps that's because they reflect a Swiss / German origin and are a trifle too formal for my taste. Elsewise, this is a fabulous book. Found it at the library, tried to take notes, and decided it was worth owning because I'd never be able to harvest all the ideas. As might be expected from the origin, the instructions are thorough and clear. I don't happen to need them; I want ideas, not steps. YMMV. The larger point: the basic log cabin block presents an almost endless number of ways to play with color both within the block and within the finished work. Adding the twist, and then varying the starting shape, and then mixing the blocks (different starting shapes within the same finished work) essentially squares the # of colorway options available to the textile worker. This book contains enough examples of finished quilts to give you an idea of what can be done with the shapes. Each finished quilt is accompanied with a line drawing of the pieces so you can work out your own colorways. I like infinite possibilities. Now to find the time to play with them all...
Easier than it looks
I have been looking for a log cabin pattern like this for some time now.....I absolutely can't wait to get started....

Log Cabin with a TWIST by Barbara T Kaempfer
What a fantastic array of options this book evokes. You too will want to get out the fabric and start trialling different ways of producing Log Cabin blocks that enhance the fabrics chosen and excite the eye. The possibilities seem endless and will lead the Log Cabin enthusiast to new levels of decision making and creativity.
Log cabin with a twist by Barbara Kaempfer
This book does not explain the pattern sequence Or give you any color suggestions to achieve the desired results as shown in the pictures in this book,I considered it a waste of money to have purchased it. I have wasted a lot of Hours and fabric trying to get the results as shown ..The quilt patterns should have a numbered sequence to follow to obtain these results. I have quilted a lot and done a lot of paper piecing ;but this book has me stalled. I am very dissatified with it.. I wonder if you have had any other complaints cocerning this book I would appreciate others in put on this book..Thanks, Oletta
Log Cabin with a Twist
I purchased this book having seen Bonnie demonstrate the twisted log cabin and just fell in love with it. I have been searching for a log cabin pattern for quite sometime and just happened to tune into Simply Quilting show on tv and saw the different patterns that are displayed in this book. The colored photos and instructions are very easily understood. This is a must have book.
fantastic book!!!!!
I found the book to be even more than I expected. The pictures and description doesn't do it justice. I'm not a fan of paper-piecing, but this book has got me very interested in trying it. smarlow
Log Cabin with a twist
It is well written - I look forward to working on a pattern. My sister sent me a sample of one of the patterns. Log Cabin With a Twist is unique. Nancy Malsack

Patchwork High Point
This book is part of the new cutting edge (pun intended) of patchwork. Here you find the geometric basis of patchwork brought to a new height. It is a true teaching manual, explaining the mathematical precepts behind the design of this new and very effective use of the old log cabin technique. I am a great fan of the old log cabin technique, and this is the perfect progression. Foundation piecing is a must with this technique, but once mastered, it makes accurate piecing much easier. Definately a thumbs up for this publication.
Fantastic effects from this technique
I agree with previous reviewer that this is not a book for beginners (and hence only four stars). But follow the instructions, and you will be able to create some stunning designs using foundation piecing technique. I couldn't wait to get started! There are lots of illustrations showing how particular designs will work out and what different colour combinations will achieve. I think this book is great. Each time I go back to it I find new inspiration.

Log Cabin
This book is full of interesting ideas to produce a unique twisted log cabin pattern. The shapes you can use can go further than the ones stated in the book. Tremendous fund using colour in a different way, good way of using up the odd bits of material that are left over form other projects. A thoroughly good book.
