Little Lu Learns to Love (Creative Kids)

What can I say? I love, love and after reading this beautifully illustrated book to my 5 year old son, it brought so much satisfaction to us at the end of the story. This storyline was well paced and entertaining to read. I love the poem included and I believe that it should be plastered on the wall in every child's bedroom. As a father, I enjoy passing life lessons and knowledge to my son, and seeing that a parent doing the same, with teaching how to express love to others, really uplifted my spirits. I'd highly recommend this book to all children so that they have a better understanding on how to show love and kindness to others.

I'm glad I picked this up. I was a little critical of it at times because I thought too much responsibility was being put on the little girl, but I think all parents have done this. We want our kids to play together and entertain each other, and don't really think about what they want. After I realized that, I enjoyed the story more. The art is beautiful, the font is creative and pleasant, and the characters are believable. There are definitely multiple messages that can be learned from this short book. I would recommend it. My copy was a free eBook, but I bet this would be lovely in printed form!

I read this along with my 8 yo daughter and we both enjoyed the beautiful illustrations and Lu's relatable character. Not only does Lu learn to show hospitality to her little cousin Henry, she also learns how to serve him by taking a genuine interest in the things that excite him, thereby making him feel heartily welcome! Without sounding preachy, this book beautifully communicates the value of wholeheartedly loving and serving others--on a level that young children can relate to and understand.

What an important lesson to be learned by all. It just goes to show you that social skills are learned, and parental guidance is crucial for children’s development. Thank you!

This book opens up discussion opportunities with our own kids of how they can love others! Beautifully told story and great pictures!

Little Lu Learns To Love is a fantastic book about learning to love enough to put your reds aside and spend time with someone else, in this case, Little Lu’s Cousin. When she took the time to spend with her cousin, she realized how enjoyable it was. The special encouragement by her mother and the sweet poem are really nice. The note by the author is special, as well. Great book to enjoy with your family and classroom.

Such a great way to talk about what it means to love others and to put them above ourselves. Our family loves this story! All kids can relate to Little Lu when things don't go as she had planned for the day and she has to put others first. I love the little poem that helps her and how she ends up having a great day once she decides to put another kid's interests above her own. Such a valuable, powerful lesson in this story that is taught so much better than trying to lecture our kids about loving others. You will love this book!!!!

Ever remember being a kid and not wanting to share your things with others? Another charming book by Leah Vis that the whole family can enjoy! It's illustrations will capture the attention of your children as they read about how we show others love. One of the things that I absolutely love about The Little Lu series is how relatable they are to children. Each child will be able to relate easily to the situations Little Lu encounters and together with her they learn valuable lessons.

Reading a story about good values is so much more powerful than just telling our children what to do and think. Little Lu learned to think of others and to value their interests while setting hers aside for a short time. She discovered that she actually had fun while doing it! A bonus is the sweet poem in this story which Little Lu memorizes to help her learn to love.

I enjoyed reading this sweet book with my kids, ages 7, 5 and 3. The main character, Little Lu, is very relatable to kids, especially my kids who struggle with selfishness (don't we all!) and the lesson was perfect in teaching what it means to love selflessly through our actions. Definitely will be a favorite in our house!

Loved the story and the unique illustrations. I can totally relate to little Lu. When I read the line "It was Saturday and little Lu had only one thing in her mind-brand new paints", it got me hooked because I'm an artist.

I read it with my grandson he enjoyed it a lot. It is such a great story to teach kids that being loving and sharing not just material things but also your time not only makes others happy but it is fun. Other great, fun book

Loving someone else is not about YOU. It’s about them! I am definitely re-reading this with my kids and using the cute little poem at the end with them.

What a great story demonstrating love for another through the eyes of a child. Loved the way the author presented a problem we all struggle with and then a solution that works!

A great lesson for every age to remember that we may have to give up some personal desire to show love to another but in the end we are blessed by that. Love is a choice followed by an action. Even if you aren't unkind or mean to someone, you still might not be loving to them.
