Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History

I bought this for my friend's daughter, who is white. I'm white and I never had books about black leaders growing up. I think it is utterly important for white kids to learn about how black people have contributed to our culture. I never learned much about that in school as a kid. Teaching kids from a young age conditions them to see all people as equally capable and deserving of respect. Representation matters. She loves the book and loves sharing what she's learned from it with other students in her class.

I purchased this book for my daughter not realizing the bios were as in-depth as they are. I say the illustrations and sort of assumed it was a book geared toward a younger crowd. I’m so glad that I was wrong. The bios included in the book range from women I’d heard of and studied to women I was glad to be learning about. While the bios are in-depth and include complex words, my toddler will sit two to three bios at a time. And I know as she gets older she’ll sit through more and we can discus both the history (and the new vocabulary). I love it. I hope to see more from Vashti Harrison soon.

Beautiful illustrations with a one page summary of each woman's life. Covers more women than I anticipated, which is a bonus. I love that there is a book covering women from Black history all in one place. I want my four girls growing up to know about women of all races and time periods that have made a difference, not just white girls/women who look like them. I think for women to really move forward in our world, we all (men and women) need to understand all women and their unique contributions in their unique spheres, so thank you Vashti Harrison for providing this beautiful, informative, and well done product so we can have this learning tool in our home for my girls to grow up reading these women's stories. I included an example of what each Bio page is like. So cute and beautiful and easy to read!

I’m a 28 year old woman and I bought this book for myself! I am completely in love with how soft the cover is and the illustrations are beautiful! This book was needed! I really really hope the author comes out with a book about Bold Men in Black History also

I preordered and was bursting with excitement to come home to the package on release day. My just turned 5 year old and I both loved the size, quality, and illustrations of "girls who are brown like me." We decided to read about one of these women each night at bedtime. I tried to start at the beginning, but we haven't yet talked about slavery and I shudder to explain its horrors to my precious little girl, so I decided to start at the back (Dominique Dawes, gymnast). This reverse historical order seems to resonate well with a young child. I like the encyclopedic style, with each narrative standing on its own. There is enough said about each woman's childhood to which a little girl can connect. Excellent work! We are proud to have this addition to our home library. Thank you, Vashti.

Let me start off by saying that this is a very nice book. The illustrations are quite cute and have an endearing quality about them. This includes a very nice selection of black women. This goes way beyond Harriet Tubman and Maya Angelou(allthough they are included) and introduces many women who you will never learn about in K-12 education. However, I would not recommend this to younger children because its not written in a way that is engaging to them. As much as my 5 year old loves these illustrations, the writing just doesn’t excite her or keep her attention.

Hands down this is one of the cutest and most fulfilling purchases that I have made for my little girl. The illustrations are heartwarming and beautiful, but the information on each of the inspiring leaders is awe inspiring. It's such a great way to teach my little one about the potential she has in her life. I'm planning on gifting it to all of my friends who are expecting babies and have little ones at home.

My 7 year-old daughter wanted to know more about African American history, because she's in a very diverse school and has several close friends of color. I got her this and a few other highly rated titles of the same ilk. While the bios are thorough on the facts, there's little to nothing of the stories of these notable women, which my kids at least would be more interested in then a list of honors and awards they've won. Even a meaningful quotation or two from each, as in some other books we have of this kind, would give a greater sense of their unique humanity.

I really wanted to love this book, I really did. The animation was cute and I’d hoped it be inspiring for my kids. But it’s actually written as a short bio’s that gloss over the accomplishments of these fine women of color while putting more weight on the ongoing fight, although this a reality in my honest opinion as a women of color I would have really loved it if the focus was “in spite of the difficulties “. Also what was quite disturbing was the reading about Alice walker being molested as a child . In a book that’s geared towards young children. I had read her bio as a young lady but don’t see how this is appropriate for 4 and 7 year olds to hear about. Bottom line the illustration are great but bio’s where lacking. I’m keeping the book because it believe in supporting black authors. However I wouldn’t recommend it

I love the little leader series of books, such a fun way to present important figures past and present. My daughter really loves looking at all the illustrations and it helps her connect to each person's story and really remember what I'm reading to her. We purchased this to enhance our Black history month book selection especially ones focusing on black women, but there are so many amazing women in this book we couldn't possibly cover it in one month, so this adorable book stays out almost all the time. The book itself is very sturdy and made it extremely well. Adorable illustrations and factual yet kid friendly bios on each person listed. We have had many learning and bonding experiences over this book, from listening to new music and poetry to learning about how many of these amazing women were connected throughout history and helped and inspire one another. Must read for all ages

I'm a HUGE fan of Vashti Harrison-- yet I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this book featured as a 'pre-order'! I knew this book would be EXTRA SPECIAL as it not only highlights Ms. Harrison's talent as an illustrator--but also as a writer; giving a brief biography of each 'Little Leader' featured in this book. There aren't enough superlatives in the English Language to convey how wonderful this 'little' book is. What a great addition to any library!!!

I recently started following Vashti on Twitter and Instagram because her illustrations are just so stunning. She really has a way with colors. I was delighted to discover that she was making a book about the incredible black women in history, people that I made it a personal goal to learn more about for inspiration in my own life. Some are definitely "hidden figures" and others we've known about for a long time. But there's never a better time to learn about them than now. It took an extra day to get to me but it was absolutely worth it. This book is for everyone, so grab a copy!

We are so delighted with this book. The obscure facts and unsung heroines inside the covers of this accessible tome have really made our daughters interested in so much about their history and heritage. Thank you, Vashti, for publishing what began as a simple project during Black History Month. Recommendations: 1. The book is best read and discussed with younger children. My six year old daughter had some trouble deciphering a few of the words and terms, but it gave my wife and I the opportunity to elaborate on the subject matter. 2. In this age of YouTube and Google, we found it really helpful and engaging to show videos from the press, presentations, competitions, and events these ladies took part in. We showed video of Florence Griffith Joyner and my youngest was over the moon about her nails and her speed. We dug up additional info on Mae Jemison (including some of the new Star Trek Discovery series, since she learned to love space travel from Star Trek) and my oldest was pumped. Not sure if these expanded resources are available in the ebook, but this might be a great tie-in. Again, Thank you, Vashti Harrison.

This book is INCREDIBLE. My children are young, ages 6, 4, and 3, all boys. And this book is sparking some amazing conversation about equality, slavery, and the contributions of some of the most important women in our history. We are discussing DEEP topics about the injustices women and people of color endured, and how we can prevent that from happening going forward. I love how the stories introduce these heavy but extremely critical topics in a gentle way, and allow me as the parent to guide discussions that give my young children the opportunity to contemplate why slavery was wrong, why segregation was wrong, and why it’s important for persons of color to celebrate their heritage and history. We seriously love this book, and I can’t wait to order more Vashti books in the future.

Short one page story of each person. I read it and will be donating it to my local library. As I read, I found myself stopping and seeking more information about the person. A great conversation starter. Would be good for parents to read to their kids or for older kids and adults to read. It's written with children in mind but I found it very interesting to read about people I hadn't heard about and was introduced to. I also enjoyed some of the stories about some well known folks too.

One page stories with illustration s of 50 pioneering black women. I have been reading this to my 5 and 7 year old grandaugthers when then visit me. We usually read 2 stories/visit, and I let them choose which ones to read. They are busy doing so many other things when they are here, 2 is all they have to attention to listen. It does stimulate discussion about these women. My 7 year old says it's too hard for her to read, but I think she just wants me to read to her!! Should be a good age for a child to read.

Love this book. Every American family should own this book and these stories need to be told in history classes. Each page is a short biography of important people in American history. I was browsing books when this came up and I had no idea who the women on the cover were. I enjoy American history and I had never heard these stories of bravery, courage and activism. My son chose this book for reading time and we both enjoyed the stories enough to seek out more information. I look forward to more evenings learning more about our history.

I Loved the detailed descriptions given for each of these ladies….their challenges, dreams , determination…basically to instill self worth and a Don’t Quit mentality. My youngest grandkids are a 3 yr old grandson and two 5 year olds a boy and girl. I wasn’t going to get the book for my grandsons….I had planned on buying them the STEM book. My daughter told me the boys need to know what girls can do. Sooooooo, very happy that she told me and that I listened. This book could definitely be for kids up to 12. The subject matter is relevant and interesting.

I got this book for my 11 year old sister who has ADHD and getting her to pay attention to a book can be hard but she absolutely loves this book, she can stare at the pictures and read the summaries all day long if I allow her to. It is her nightly bedtime story and she has to have it or she will cry. I made the mistake of taking it to visit family and forgetting it, that was one hard night. I had to order another one ASAP and just left the other one to ensure there is always one back home. I love pictures and how simple and pretty they are and i love how the book can be for older kids and little kids because it challenges their vocabulary. I just love the book and I love how it makes my sister feel, and it remindes her that she can accomplish anything.

The illustrations were cute and the bios were on point. I loved the variety of leaders featured and I definitely learned something. I do think the text is above the average kid's attention span. My daughter loves black history, but when it comes to casual reading, she's more into unicorns and cute kittens right now. lol It's still a wonderful addition to our library, and I know in a few years, she'll approach this book with a different perspective.

This book is gorgeous. I purchased for my 4 year old son to slowly start introducing him to strong examples of women in black history. I believe racism and sexism can be fought back with education and positive reinforcement, and I want my son to be able to look at this strong and bold female role models that are not usually taught about at school and learn from them. Super happy with my purchase and would totally recommend!

I gave this book to my kiddo for Christmas, and we read 1 or 2 pages at a time. Last night he asked me for the book "with all the kids on it" for bedtime and took me a while to figure out which book he was talking about, and it was this one! We came across the author's picture and bio in the back of the book today and he asked me to read him that page. I read it to him, he thought a moment, and then he said "She's cool. She makes good books and pictures." So a 5-Star rating from both of us :)

This book has a wide variety of women that you probably know and some you don’t know. It gave a good amount of information per page and taught me as I was reading it as well. This and her book with the men are both great to teach kids about the impact African American women have had on our society.

I appreciated what the book has to offer. However, the second page in my book is page 58. It goes through the rest of of the pages, then starts from the “acknowledgments” in the middle of the book. It’s very disappointing that this wasn’t caught prior to shipping. And by looking at the reviews, I’m not the only person who has received a book with blatant errors

This book is a treasure that Vashti Harrison should be very proud of. It's a wonderful, fun tool for girls and boys to learn about these great women and a great source of representation for black children. I ended up buying five books total and gifting all but one to beautiful, powerful, amazing black girls and women that I know. I kept the fifth book because I wanted one of my own. Also because if I ever decide to have children I want them to have this wonderful work of art in their book collection as a reminder that they come from brilliant, creative, resilient people and they are destined to be one as well. I will be keeping up with Ms. Harrison's work and crossing my fingers for a Little Leaders: Bold Men in Black History. Ms. Harrison thank you for creating the book I wish I had as a child, I can tell a lot of care went into it!

Very nice book, artwork is great. I bought this for my 7 year old. We're taking it slow so that we can really discuss each person. So far, she really likes it. It has sparked some good conversation. She really enjoys learning about each person. The pages and the cover are a tick, nice quality too.

Both my girls and I learned about so many black women who have been left out of black history. It serves as a great motivation to follow our dreams and to be the best that we can be. We enjoyed reading about all these young girls who overcame many obstacles to become true leaders. As we flipped through the pages, my girls were able to look at women who look just like them, from their hair to the color of their skin. I recommend this book to children of all ages especially young black children who are still trying to find themselves in a society that encourages us to forget about our history. Never stop striving for the top and know where you come from.

I am simply delighted by this book. The book design and illustration are flawless. It is a lovely, perfect little book that is just the right size for carrying around and gifting. The cover has that soft-touch matte finish that makes me never want to put it down. And I’m learning so much about the women featured in the brief but detailed and digestible profiles. This book sings to my heart. Very much looking forward to seeing more from Vashti Harrison.

This book arrived on time in excellent condition. It was the perfect addition to our book collection and for my niece's collection. I think this book should be in more schools, so that our young girls can see some of the accomplishments that minority women have made (that aren't taught in their curriculum).

Cute little book. I bought this for my friend's daughter for christmas. Reading through it, the female figures are historically accurate and they all have brown and black skin. Each description is quite long, so this book would be better for an older child, or one who can sit down and listen for more than 10 minutes. My friend's daughter is only 3, so this book will have to wait until she is older.

My daughter checked this book out at her school library one day. She couldn’t put it down. She even took turns with me each night to select a different person to read about. Once the week was over and it was time to return the book I had ordered the book already. She was so thankful the following day because she received her own copy. She is a good reader and this book introduced her to new terms to learn and new leaders of our world to learn about. At this point she has all of the books. These books ROCK!!

This book is adorable. It is a compilation of mini biographies of 40 prominent Black women in U.S. History. On the right side of the page is an illustration of the woman profiled in Vashti Harrison's distinctive style. On the left side is the biography. These are snippets, just an overview of these ladies' lives organized by the year of birth. It's written and presented as a children's book, but I bought my own copy. I like having inspiring books within arm's reach. Sometimes I need a reminder of what one woman can accomplish. I also ordered a copy for my mom who enjoyed it. Would make a good book for bedtime reading during Black History month.

The information in the book is great. However, I am disappointed the author and publisher did not pay attention to detail. The book is backwards and upside down...if I was the publisher I would be embarrassed.

Fabulous book, perfect short profiles to read one at a time for role model inspiration...Not just the 'usual history makers' some arcane stories and interesting "I didn't know that" moments worthy of keeping a copy for myself, too. Had to order another for a gift and am about to order again for a tutoring/edu K-5 class!

My intention was to give this as a gift, but it’s so adorable! Easy to read and the pictures are awesome. Love sharing all year round but especially during Black History Month. Every family should have this I. Their personal library.

I love the idea of the book as well as the honored people it shares with us. However, I bought it for my grand-units and I’m not sure it would hold their interest until they are older. It seems to be written for adult readers not young children.

This book is not only informative, but also well put together. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and the feel of the book itself is very expensive. The cover is texturized and sturdy while remaining its attractiveness. This would be an excellent addition to ANY book collection. As a kindergarten teacher, I was often looking for a way to insert diversity into our class literature and this is a perfect way. Keep up the good work Vashti! I followed you on Instagram for years, and then you pop up with this gem! So very proud! BUY THIS BOOK!

Got this for Black History month. I read a page a day to my 6 year old. We love it! Public schools won't teach about more than half these brave women. It's great to dive deeper into our history and read about theses amazing people. It is geared towards older kids. We love it!

This book is really cute and includes brief summaries on the backgrounds and achievements of a variety of African American female figures throughout history up until modern times. Writing is age appropriate, making it easy to digest for younger children. My only issue is that the book arrived with a dirty cover, mainly around the edges where dirt and dust seem to have accumulated. The inside of the book is fine, however, with pretty glossy pages. It's a bit upsetting given how excited we were to receive the book and having paid for something we expected to arrive in mint condition...

I bought this book because it was pretty and I wanted to learn more. It is without doubt the most beautiful I have seen. It has a soft cover that is wonderful to hold, it has empathetic drawings of amazing black women. I couldn't help it and bought a second for the elementary school library. Now all of Vashti's books I buy in sets, one for me and one for the library.

Wonderful book, that is illuminating for children, as well as adults. The hardcover book is beautifully made and makes a wonderful present. My son is engaged and he often reads me passages while we are driving. His only complaint — he’d love a version featuring men as well :)

I love this! In an era of racial inequality, I hope to raise my son better than my generation was. As I learn how to be better, I plan on making sure he does too. I want him to grow up knowing that what he learns in school is a white man's history, and I plan on doing my best to ensure he is just as educated about the accomplishments of black individuals as well. This book is perfect for starting that journey.

Wonderful book! So much information in kid friendly words and reasonable paragraphs! My two and a half year old (who is VERY advance for his age, got through FIVE women with me, and still wanted to keep going! He LOVES this book!

Xmas gift for great grand daughter 6 yrs old, great book, all children of all ages could be inspired if an adult explains to younger groups of kids, book should belong in all home libraries for children and adults

This is a MUST read at any age. The short to the point stories show you the humble beginnings of Black women on their quest to “BECOMING” the great Queens we now know them to be. Bravo!!!!!

I bought this for my infant daughter. Obviously this is far too wordy for her right now, but I'm looking forward to reading it to her when she's older. I also enjoyed reading it myself and learned a lot about black history! I love the adorable illustrations. A beautiful, well-made book.

The book itself is beautiful! The content, the binding, the pages, layouts... wonderful! But, like so many Amazon book purchases, the book arrived damaged with a scratch/dent/depression in the front cover.

I preordered this book & oooommmggg satisfied is not the word! It's wonderful. I couldn't hold out until Christmas. My children will start reading it tonight. Keep up the good work! We need more books like this for the children. Peace & love

I initially learned about the author and book when I randomly came across a social media post. Decided to check Amazon to see if it was available, and voila! Bought this for my daughters (1 and 3 yrs old) to add to our home library. Giving as a gift for Christmas. Can't wait to start reading this to them, and teaching them about all these amazing women! The quality of the book, the content, and illustration are all great!

I can’t say enough about how adorable and informative this book is! My daughter opened it as soon as it arrived, and didn’t put it down until she had finished. We spent days discussing and researching important black women in history, and I must say, this has been one of my favorite purchases for homeschooling.

I absolutely love this book. Although I had to break the torus down in a magical way for my GrandGirl who is just 3 years old, she will have this book long enough to read it to her twin sisters for years to come. Love. Love. Love!!

My kids (white boys, 7 5 and 3) love this book and ask to read it and Little Legends every night. We pick a couple people a day to read about. It’s engaging and accessible for all their ages and they’ve learned so much about so many remarkable Black people. I’d recommend to anyone.

Beautiful short biographies of known and overlooked women. Easy reading for the young reader as well as a quick reference for anyone. Excellent book for a classroom library.

It was too wordy for my 4 year old. He lost internet quickly. I will try again when he is 5. I think I assumed that because it was a board book that it was meant for younger toddlers.

My kids school didn’t really do Black History month which upset me. I decided to buy this book along with a few others to do Black History month at home. I’m pleased with this book, as it arrived on time and wasn’t damaged whatsoever. My 6 year old son has already opened it and is eager to read it.

I love this book. It was well written and had a lot of information to educate your child. These wonderful women where explained so well it will inspire your child even more to achieve their goals in life.

This should make my little lady clients feel so much better and to aspire to reach for greatness in everything they do. You never know.

My 9 y/o daughter found this book at her school library and loved it. We got it for her and she likes to read it at home and takes it on the road when we’re out and about. The book includes beautiful portrait drawings. We often talk about the women portrayed in the book and I have learned new things about them as well. Great book! I wish there was something similar for Latin women.

I was so excited to get this book and use it for a women's history month youth group book reading and unveiling of a little free library in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, the book was binded incorrectly, so as we held it, it looked as though we were reading the book upside down. We decided not to use it for the public event. I agree with the other review that notes what a shame it is that the publisher did not pay attention to this detail. Unfortunately, I ordered this a while ago for this purpose and just noticed it.

I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my 3 year old Goddaughter. Over time, she's shown increasing interest in wanting to learn about the different featured leaders and what they've accomplished. She even went as far as to say that she looks forward to becoming a little leader herself. So happy to see that this is playing a major role in her upbringing and how she sees herself!

This is a great piece of history that all the world should know. This information should be flash out in the galaxy. It is fabulous information from the President of the US and all and other heads of state should be made aware.

I got this for my almost 4 year old. I had planned on adding it to her book collection until she is ready but she has requested to read the “girl book” almost every night. We just read about two or three women a night. She has so many questions and makes sweet comments like “Wow! That’s amazing!” Great book for kids of all ages no matter their race.

This book is super cute. I was so excited when it came in the mail. Great value. This is definitely on my must have list and it's a book I will be giving away as a gift to many. I love any thing that portrays positive Black images. This book will definitely serve to boost our little girls confidence.

I love these books and my students do as well! The pictures are adorable and the biographies do an excellent job of sharing accessible information about these notable women. After receiving this book, I went back and purchased Little Dreamers and Little Legends.

We enjoyed it! You won't be disappointed as it's a lovely, phenomenal book. We need more to saturate the market for diverse representation to inspire the next generation to greatness.

An excellent children's book to not only educate but get them excited about historical women. The images are adorable and the stories are fascinating. I bought this as a gift for a little girl because I want her to know that she can do whatever she wants to do and reach for the stars in pursuit of her dreams. The women in this book are a testament to that!! I would buy this for boys too because they need to see positive strong women role models. This should be read in schools so that all students regardless of race know the contributions of black women in history.

My toddlers love... love... love this book. They want this read to them every night. Although, it is not in their age group, they have learned who the little leaders are and their roles already. I am amazed at their excitement and how this book has captured their little minds. When I hear them recite the little leaders and their roles my heart is over whelmed in their ability and the ability of this book. Thank you!

I was impressed by how many one page biographies were in this book! I found out about women I had never even heard of. A great resource in the classroom or to read with any kid!

This book is a must have! I get my daughter books all the time but in February I get her nothing but black books and this was a great addition to her collection

I can't say enough great things about this book. We read about one woman each night with our bedtime stories. The text is just long enough to give facts but not be boring for a younger child (our son is 4). There are so many amazing women in this book. My husband and I are learning a lot from each night's featured lady. These stories are inspiring for anyone of any sex, race or religion because they're real women who did amazing things.

I purchased this book for my kids to select a African American legend to discuss at school and at Church. The book had just enough information and answered the key points for them. The book had a lot of interesting information I was unaware of. Perfect read with your little ones! Perfect go to book for nightly reading and African American History!

This is just a darling book. The illustrations are precious. It is a great book for sharing with your children - boy/girl/class. I am a school librarian and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I just wish the author could have included more ladies:, but, hopefully she will continue this trend. There are so many topics she can cover. I look forward to them. I got this for my niece's 8th birthday and she loves it. She immediately flipped it open and read me a page about one of the women. I love that it's going to educate her and give her women to be inspired by. And the illustrations are beautifully done.

Bought this for my 7 year old Nigerian British niece. We read the initial pages together and then she called me a week later and gave me an HOUR long update on the rest of it . I love the short stories about these ladies! There were more women and girls included than I thought there would be which was nice. Wish it included Simone Biles but it’s still a great, inspirational book regardless.

I love that Vashti dug deep and didn't only include mainstream black history names. I guarantee there's a fabulous woman that you and your kid can learn about in this book that you've never heard of.

We use this book as my child's history "curriculum." One new leader a week. We use this book as a starting point for further study about that individual's life and impact.

I bought this book after following the author on Instagram for many months. The art in the book is great and there is so much information about the 40 women. It is not a book that only girls or people of color would like. Boys who are interested in history would like this as well.

Wonderful book that includes many folks I have never heard of and glad now that I have. I got this for my granddaughter but I read it myself when I visit her for my own education. It is full of much good info and history. Nothing like this existed when I was growing up and so I am glad for my granddaughter that she will know much more about her history and thus be empowered.

I ordered five of these books and gifted them to some young ladies in my family. One of my nieces has already begun looking up the women and comparing their photos to the illustrations in the book. We need more books like this to show our accomplishments! I had never even heard of some of these women.

This book is wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated. It's a great reference for people of all ages. I pre-ordered after seeing a social media post about it, and I was excited when it arrived last week. My daughter is only 18 months old, but I will certainly be reading it to her over the years. I will be purchasing more as gifts as well.

My preteen absolutely loves this book. My husband and I are both professors of African American/African history and speak to the children about Black heroes/change agents often and this book still excited my daughter while introducing her to a few new names. Going to buy another for my niece so she too can celebrate black girl magic.

Arrived a little late, but it was during a holiday season AND I was informed it would be a little late. It was only a couple of days late, so not a problem. It has one small page on each woman with a cute illustration...but that's still more than you get about these same women in the history books. At least it's a good introduction for people to find out about them so they can research further.

I absolutely love this book! I bought this for my baby’s book collection, but I’ve also enjoyed reading it. Very informative, biographical information and the illustrations are just darling. I remember learning about majority of these women in school, so it’s nice having the ability to also share with my daughter in a “non-boring” way.

This is a WONDERFUL book for children of all ages. It comes as an Audible (listen to sample) or a hard covered. Well written, giving inspiring synopses of 40 African American women, some well known, some unknown. I LOVE the illustrations -- creative, with significant backdrops and appropriate costuming. I recommend as bedtime reading for the young and/or readers about 4th grade. Though my grandchildren (12 & 14) are good readers, I think they'd enjoy reading and hearing these stories.

I LOVED the idea of this book.. but that's about it. It almost gives the idea that bold black women in history were ONLY slaves. Also the tittle it self "Little Leaders" is a slap to the face. These aren't children THESE ARE GROWN WOMEN who contributed tremendously to society on many levels and the best you could do is a bunch of generic, fall in line illustrations of the same face on the same body with different outfits?? A few basic descriptions and bright colors are nice I guess but how is this helping Black people? Waste of time and money for me and my child.. I don't want to teach her that successful black women were JUST slaves.
