At the request of her many fans—Terri Blackstock revisits the heroic cast of characters in this fifth book in her best-selling Newpointe 911 series In Line of Duty, a bomb explodes at the Icon International building in New Orleans while lawyer Jill Clark Nichols is in the top floor boardroom. The thirty-story building goes up in flames and fire departments from all around the area are called in. The firefighters from Newpointe are especially concerned since they know Jill is inside the building. Dan, her husband, rushes in to save her. But as firefighters work to evacuate the upper floors of the building, a second and third bomb explode, causing the lower floors to cave in. Firefighters and civilians are buried beneath the rubble. When the smoke finally clears, a count is taken. Jill narrowly escapes the chaos of the explosions and fire only to find Dan missing. Were the bombs the act of a terrorist, or a scheme coming from a heart of greed? Can Jill’s faith carry her through these long days of pain and uncertainty? And will Dan survive this tragedy . . . or sacrifice his life in the line of duty?

Awesome

Just got today and I'm already half way through the book. Its .awesome

Ashley's Redemption

Terri Blackstock really knows how to bring a well written story with giving the readers the plan of salvation. I would recommend this to book to all teenagers strugling with their self worth and their lack of faith.

This book kept me up later than I wanted more than one night.

It was exciting as well as showing us the human emotions of each of the characters in the story. I would definitely recommend this book!

Intense page-turner! God saved my son using this book!

Wow. My son called me to tell me he had accepted Christ. When I asked why, he told me he had read Line of Duty by Terri Blackstock. He told me God had kept pounding on him while he read this book. So I read it. Intense. Page turner. I was sitting on the edge of my seat. I cried, laughed, got mad, felt relief. This book addressed so many situations that believers and nonbelievers alike have to deal with. Awesome book with a spiritual component.

Plenty of Action

I loved the story and how it started of like 911, but showed the peop!e and how tragedy changed them. Good ending too.

pretty scenarios. Looks can be deceiving

A riveting story of courage and adventure, a reminder of the fact that our victories in this world don't always come in neat, pretty scenarios. Looks can be deceiving, and we shouldn't "judge a book by its cover", so to speak. The story line will keep you riveted and reminded of how each and every day is a true GIFT. Sometimes we have to live with tragedy, but with God's help and our faith, we can not only survive, we can thrive! Thanks again, Ms. Blackstock, for a wonderful read!

Great book to read and the other 4 too!

It was very well written. Held your interest and you didn't want to put it down. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened and who made the bombs. It had a surprise ending and it was sad that so many people had to die. She is a great writer and I have read a lot of her books. I highly recommend her books.

Loved it!

Even though it's science fiction, the message is very real. It doesn't create false expectations that as Christ followers we will live an easy and comfortable life every day. We will endure difficult times, but God is with us to prevail.

Great story

Great author and love the mp3

Suspenseful

I loved this entire series and sad that it is the last book. I would recommend reading these in order so that you get to know the different relationships. Can't wait to find another series of Terri's to read.

Good Suspense

As always, Terri Blackstock combines suspense with real life problems. Her characters grow spiritually as they face their problems head on with courage. This was the fifth book in the Newpointe 911 series and I enjoyed all of them.

A must read for all Terri Blackstock fans

This surprise 5th book in the Newpointe 911 books was a wonderful look at what the first responders might have experinsed on 911. Blackstock takes a simular tragedy on a smaller scale and puts her heros in the middle of it. She gives a very relistic veiw of how christians in times of trial struggle with pain doubt and anger but yet Gods grace gets them through it.

Good read! Suspense, mystery, and people coming to Christ in the end. What more can you ask for?

Good read! Suspense, mystery, and people coming to Christ at the end. What more can I ask for? Terri is one of a handful of writers that can deliver all that and still make it interesting.

Awesome read

please read terri Blackstock's novels! She writes about timely subjects and awe inspiring themes. She demons how we are to live band react to encounters we have in our daily walk as a Christian. I get so involved with her works; they are hard to set aside. She makes me a better person through her writings.

Well worth reading

Very good book as all of her work is.

Great book

Great read. This author is so gifted at making fiction seem real. Well written story with unexpected twists. All the emotion, the joy and the pain can be lived with the characters. It's so good, it reads faster than expected. Would recommend to anyone!

Excellant Finish

Ms. Blackstock is a gifted writer and I enjoy all her works. Line of Duty dips into the center of the hearts of realistic characters and portrays the anguish of all the people directly affected by disaster. I love the entwining of the lives of the victums, their families, friends, and complete strangers. The added bonus is conpassion, love and happiness evolving from despair, depression, and hatred. A perfect ending to a captivating series!

Good as always

I believe this was best of this series. It got my attention from the very start. Terri writes Christian based mystery books. Always God based. Love her books. I could read them over and over again and have. There is never any fear of foul language of hot sex scenes. Her books are always clean cut. I recommend her books highly.

Read this book and the whole Newpointe 911 series

This book, along with all the Newpointe 911 series is a must read! I couldn't put the books down. I have found a new favorite author! I'm getting ready to read her Restoration series, and I can't wait to start them.

line of duty

I finished this 5 book series last night after less than 2 weeks of owning them...and I'm NOT one to do that. I work full time and have 6 kids at home, so I'm a busy gal. Could not put these books down!

Blackstock does it again!

The Newpointe 911 Series has it all for the Christian who enjoys romance along with the suspense and excitement of a good book! Full of real life experiences you can relate to, Blackstock makes the words come to life. I hated to see this series end, and I can't wait to start another one of her series!!

Great

This was my favorite of the whole series. It focused on things outside all the romance. I do not mind romance but with all books like this, you can usually figure out what is going to happen. This dealt mainly with situations and kept me interested.

Loved this series.

Terry Blackstock did a superb job writing this series. I have yet to be disappointed in her work! Looking forward to more books by Terri. God bless!

INTENSE EMOTION PLOT

The fifth and last book in this series, brings together the people in the previous stories. This one centers on Jill as a lawyer interviewing the executive on the top floor of the Icon building when disaster strikes. A bomb one of three that will take this building down and many lives will have died. On the way she finds young sixteen year old Ashley who was with her Mother when they open the copier door and her mother tells her to leave. Then Gordon who had been dismissed was clearing out his desk. Not knowing who was going to survive. Jill’s husband was one of the last, and the emotion for her, and when his mother finally pays a visit, will fill one with emotion. The headache of lives lost for what, revenge, greed of the executive. Or young Ashley now with no one, turns from a rebellious teen aged to gothic, so wanting love . Good ending to this series by the author.

Good book

I have read Terri Blackstock's books for some years. However, I only discovered this series some years after the books were written, but better late than never. I hope this series continues because Christian fiction can be truly uplifting or can turn non-Christians away from it. I love Blackstock's writing for the simple reason that she doesn't pretend that the Christian life is a bed of roses. One reviewer said she disliked Christian writers having their characters question why good people suffer--but that is exactly what people do--like it or not. We have this idea that if we love God and accept Jesus as our Saviour, somehow we will live a problem free life--that our prayers will be answered just as we want them to be. Sometimes it happens this way, but so many times, we are left with pain and sorrow. Yes, we do know that Christians have problems, but still--there is this feeling that God will come through for us in our own way. Anyway, this book was extremely interesting to me. I somehow resented Ashley's extreme grief over her mother when she was so extreme in her rebellion against her mother and her values. Also, I did not like who actually was the bomber. I wish that could have been different. I know Blackstock was showing that outward goodness is not always the picture that God sees; He sees the heart, as in Ashley's case. I hope this series continues.

compassionate book with difficult people

This book follows the lives of firefighters, police, a pastor and those related to them during an after an explosion of a huge building. It especially focuses on Jill, a lawyer who survived the explosion and whose firefighter husband is injured in it, and Ashley, another survivor whose mom didn't survive. Jill shows compassion to Ashley while trying to stay close to her husband in the hospital and put up with her difficult mother-in-law. The book displays compassion for those who are hard to love. And I never would have guessed the ending.

Are you strong?

This book was amazing. It provoked so many emotions and reflective evaluations. As a Christian we feel we arrived at having spiritual maturity at some point but "Will we allow ourselves to be weak so God can be strong?" Also, I know that God doesn't change and His love for us is unconditional but we put conditions on Him. I liked the bomb analogy and as I continue this journey I will remember that even though we built the bomb, God will control the detonation and its effects. Awesome book!

"Your life has an impact on others honey!

Suspense and courage. After reading the 4th book in the series, I was delighted to learn there was a 5th one. She hadn't planned to write this one until the loss of so many first responders on September 11, 2001. Several are lost in this book too, but there are interesting characters with their own problems even before escaping the bombing of a New Orleans high-rise, and the impact on those not directly involved. Characters question why God doesn't protect them from losses, why he allows evil to happen, leading to a surprise culprit at the end.

A semi- 9/11 based novel

The reader returns to Newpointe, Louisiana, for the fifth time and it's still a pleasant little burg to visit. Allie and Mark have a baby; Jill and Dan are settling in as newlyweds, as are preacher Nick and his paramedic wife, Issie. However, their idyll shatters when a 30-story building in New Orleans becomes an inferno thanks to three bombs placed at interval levels. Jill is taking a deposition when the explosions occur, and of course Dan and all of the Newpointe 911 responders offer their services. Blackstock throws in a minor subplot about Iranian students being held for questioning (mostly due to racial profiling following 9/11) and this feels racist here. The bomber's identity is a neat plot twist. Jill's semi-adoption of a ragged, insecure girl whose mother was killed provides part of the story, as does her husband Dan (who is missing and presumed dead at the start)'s loss and eventual recovery. Dan's mother is a caricature of a spoiled heiress and adds nothing to the story, except to irritate the people of Newpointe, Jill in particular. Dealing with grief and loss after a tragedy are handled fairly well, although I am truly sick of Christian authors having their characters state that they don't understand why good people suffer. Anyone who has studied the Bible can explain this fairly easily.

Very good

I've read several of Terri Blackstock's books and have loved them. This one did not disappoint. I thought Clara & Ashley's relationship gave some comic relief to a terrible disaster. I enjoyed their characters.

Redemption

Thank you for the rapid moving story with so many storylines. I did not worry about losing my place in long convoluted chapters. Miss Blackstock keeps the story moving to satisfying ends. Thank the Lord

been waiting for this to be re released for years. cant wait to get it!!!!!!

Good novel

"Line of Duty" is a Christian suspense novel that turns into a general fiction with a mystery. This is the fifth book in the series, but it reads like a stand-alone. The suspense in the first part was mainly created by the physical danger that the various characters were in and then wondering which characters survived. After that, the suspense was created by relationship tension, regret and sorrow leading characters toward potentially bad decisions, and the side mystery of who blew up the building. The mystery was handled realistically and was not easily guessable ahead of time. The characters were varied, interesting, and dealt with realistic problems. The story's focus was mainly on dealing with loss (and why God would allow it) and on loving people who are different. Most of the characters were Christians who were mutually struggling to understand why God allowed some to live, some to die, and some to have life-changing injuries. There were no sex scenes. There was a very minor amount of "he cussed" style of bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this interesting novel.

Five Stars

Haven't ready anything of hers yet that was bad!

Five Stars

Excellent read. Suspenseful, and a great story of love and faith even in the midst of tragedy.

Great Series

Just finished the 5th book, as a retired Firefighter/Paramedic, I am thankful for showing that not every time is everyone healed & the story is a happy ending. Being disabled myself it was an encouragement to see Dan deal with difficult situations. God does not promise perfect circumstances, He promises to be sufficient in all things & He is! Good job Terri.

Line of Duty

Very elementary and melodramatic, while dragging on and on before getting to the point of the story. Fluff. I couldn't even get half way through.

Five Stars

Great book!

Stirring and Compelling!

Fifth book in the Newpointe 911 series, Terri Blackstock delivers an extremely emotional but enthralling finale to finish off this memorable series. 'Line of Duty' enables you to see and experience first-hand some of the heroic and selfless efforts of the Firefighting teams, but on a much more personal level having gotten to know and love the wonderful characters throughout the series. Bomb explosions, kidnapping and terror are within this book, but interjected with moments of sweet love and heart-wrenching times of the testing of faith and hope! This story delivers it all and will definitely touch your heart as it did mine.

Review

Very well written & exc suspense. A bit too religious for my taste but i still enjoyed the story overall.

Engaging Pageturner

After having read the first four novels in the Newpointe 911 series, I was thrilled when Ms. Blackstock decided to release another that weaves a Christian tale around corporate scandal and terrorism. Her flare is in penning pageturners, but specifically she excels at the Christian murder mystery genre, an ocean's distance from her previous works in the romance market. In a Judeo-Christian country market, you would think this sort of novel would be appealing to the masses, but secular society craves drugs, sex, and rock-n-roll. And oh, by the way, she doesn't ignore these topics in her novels. She just refuses to glorify them.

Blackstock's Best

This is the fifth book in the Newpointe 911 series and it is by far the best! Maybe it's because the character's were already familiar friends or because it addresses an emotional situation similar to what happened on September 11, 2001. I actually cried while reading this book and that doesn't happen to me very often. It was very moving and very well written. If you enjoyed the first 4 books in this series you'll love this one. A must read for any Blackstock fan.

Excellent

Line of Duty seemed to be right off the pages of a current newspaper. I think it is the very best in the Newpointe 911 series. It was so good that after a few pages I emailed Terri Blackstock and asked for another book to this series that she thinks is finished. I hope it will continue. Terri Blackstock is a very gifted author. Her characters could be the people next door or down the street.

Riveting Read

Terri Blackstock never fails to satisfy her fans. Line of Duty puts readers into the midst of the chaos when bombs begin to explode in a multi-storied building. Readers tag along as people flee the building and fire fighters from all over the area try to rescue the buildings occupants. You will not want to put this book down as authorities search for victims and perpetrators. I plan to share this timly adventure with all my reading friends. Great Book

I have read every book in the Newpointe 911 series, and I must say that Line of Duty is my favorite. I always loved Dan and Jill, and to see how they survive this tragedy. Once you pick up one of Terri Blackstock's books, it is hard to put it down. I have read all of the Newpointe series more than one time, but each time I read it, I get into it. Thanks for writing such a great book in a great series.
