a brief introduction to the continents of the world.

I bought this as a first introduction to the world, its continents, its ecosystems, and its people's history/cultures, etc. This book does that in a very fun way with engaging art and facts. NO... it does not cover all peoples, all countries, or all the things you can think should be in this book... but that is ok. Usually I am upset at things like Ecuador not being shown on the map (because it is one of the few countries I have actually traveled to and love)... but at the end of the day, this book is NOT teaching all the countries of the world. This book is teaching the 7 continents of the world and some facts about each. So what you get is an assortment of facts from geology, biology, culture, history, etc... AND I was still surprised by some of the content included. For example the atlas for North, Central, and South America clearly shows archaeology for Maya, Aztec, and Inca (I have rarely seen all three in any book for very little ones)... plus has pictured Cree, Eskimo, Inuit, Awa (yes there are a lot more people groups but this is a lot for a children's book)... Plus sites like the Cave of Hands, Easter Island, and the Nazca Lines (I had never even heard of the former)... and modern landmarks like the Statute of Liberty, Space Needle, Brasilia, Friendship Bridge, Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Statue of Jose Artigas (I know there are a bunch more but to be honest I didn't even know of some South American sites). On top of that, there are over 25 different animal species presented AND each is labeled. Oh and I am just getting started. With so much just on the Americas... you can imagine how many facts are actually in this book. Overall, I will take off a star just because a few things are not very clear to me... but for the most part a great buy.

Can be a bit overwhelming for the eyes

I thought I would love the book because it looked fun and I thought it would be great for my kiddos to learn about different people around the world. My daughter always asks me "Where is China? What is Mexico?". However, I didn't really enjoy the book because everything was overwhelming to look through. I had seen the "My Body" book in the past and really wanted it so I didn't think this book would be an issue years later. However, this is a great book to play I SPY with your kiddos and definitely a book to look through overtime...maybe staying 1 minute or 2 on each page or depending on your kiddos' pace. I give it 4 stars for the great illustration.

Wonderful supplement to our homeschool curriculum

We love this book and are thrilled that it is a bonus supplement to our homeschool curriculum. Not only is it nice to look at, but each flap has additional facts and learning information. We enjoy how the continents are separated so that we can focus on the material that we are studying in school. The product itself is well made, sturdy, and nicely bound. The map in the back of the book is an extra joy- we love taking it out and talking over the map with our schleck animals.

Atalas

I was hesitating to buy it but glad I did. I good atlas with a map in a pocket on the last page, plus the price is very reasonable.

So fun

You can't go wrong with this book! It is interesting detailed and beautiful to look at. My five year old loves it and it will grow well with her as she ages.

Amazing gift for any child

This is a beautiful book - my 5 year old loves lifting all the flaps - great to get to know the world this way - so much attention to detail - it's truly a gem.

Another awesome Usborne book

Such a cool pop up book!! Keeps my 2 and 5 studying and lifting the flaps over and over again. Great intro to the atlas and world. So much information! Good resource for homeschooling an elementary schooler.

Fun yet educational

My son loves the flaps - so many to do! I love the details *and* the large map poster with its own handy storage pocket in the back of the book. Excellent keys and fun facts for the elementary aged-child yet detailed enough to be useful for even a middle-schooler. Has political boundaries as well as physical boundaries between different climates, etc. Is a little out of date since published a few years ago but still an excellent resource.

I love it

I love the book. My children are 2 and 4 and they are not so much interested yet. Most probably becuase they still do not read and the pictures are way too small.

Missing pieces

This product did not say used! It is damaged and is missing pieces! Very disappointed!

Good buy

Great quality and look

We love it!

Great book! We love USborne.

So neat

My husband and I love this atlas. I bought it for our son but he is too young for it (will be 3 this year). I am excited to give it to him in a few years when he is a bit older.

Great for a beginner geography buff.

Great little book to help teach a little one geography. Interesting facts found underneath the flaps.

Great book

My 3 and 5 year old boys love this

Wonderful Book!

Beautiful, very informative, colorful and great quality. My son is 5 and he loves it.

Five Stars

Love the book! Its a wonderful resource!

Five Stars

Usborne pop-up flat book on a picture atlas.

Kids love these Usborne pop-up flap books. This one is the book on geography and is as fun as the others.

Five Stars

my grandson loved this book

Five Stars

Cute book. My son loves it.

Five Stars

I love this books for my kids. A lot to explore and talk about.

Excellent.

Wish I had bought more. Great Christmas gift for the nephews but my daughter couldn't take her hands of it.

INCOMPLETE

This atlas is incomplete. Ordered and realized that it doesn’t have Ecuador and only shows Haiti and not the Dominican Republic. It has to be correct

One Star

So complicated even for adults

Beautiful atlas... if only they had ALL the countries on the maps!

I saw this at a children's museum today and LOVED it - beautiful pictures, interesting facts, engaging text... I took a picture of the book so I could order when I got home except.... when we looked at South America to see Ecuador - the country we had visited this summer for 5 week - IT WAS NOT PART OF THE CONTINENT!! That's right - Columbia is there, Venezuela too and right below Columbia where Ecuador ACTUALLY exists - is PERU!! This is VERY misleading for kids and adults alike! Ok, you can't fit a fact about each country on a double page - I get it, but at least put ALL the counties in for each continent OR - here's another idea - DON'T CALL YOURSELF AN ATLAS!!! Be a lift the flap book about some countries of the world!! VERY disappointed!!

My favorite book!

I absolutely love this book and think all kids should have one! It has the different continents on each page with flaps all over the page. It teaches children all about different cultures, geography, and more. I have already given it to my son and several of his friends for their birthdays. And the map is great too. We pinned it up on my son's wall.

Bonus Fold out world map

My six your old is now taking great interest in this book, the food out map at the back has the flags of all the countries of the world. Complements school learning in Yr 1 & 2 fantastically.

Book

Gift. Thanks

nice and informative but the facts are rather random

Very good and full of interesting facts for kids to learn, children enjoy to discover what info is hidden under the flaps, however what I did not like is that the information is a random mix of everything

Lovely picture atlas for toddler.

My grand-daughter loves this picture atlas. There are hours and hours of enjoyment in this book. There are little flaps that open up to reveal interesting tidbits about the country that is on the page. The writing is not too large, just wanted to mention that. Overall a great book!

Very good

Really good. Interesting, informative, colorful. I love Ushborne.

Fun book

Super cute pictures. Informative. Sparks interest in learning more about Canada

Great introduction to world geography

Great book; a wonderful introduction to world geography for little kids. My 5-year-old loves it.

Great book for curious kids

Great book for curious kids! Ordered and received on time and in perfect condition. My 3, 5 and 7 year olds love it.

Lovely book for toddlers

It’s a lovely book but I made the mistake of buying used. Whoever sent the book back ought to be ashamed as it was very badly damaged . So buy new all the time . I will have to wait to reorder .

Fun flap book

Bought for 3rd birthday presents, wanted fun and educational. Advance for a 3 year old but can grow into it.

Book is good itself. I bought very good used one, but it came as a charity product.

Like all Usborne product, it is good. but i think the seller send me a very badly used one. Map is missing. flaps are crinkled

Ideal gift

Receiver loved it

Awesome Atlas

My daughter is 3 and loves lift the flap books and this far has only had storybook style ones that have been really good, but not educational, so when I stumbled across this atlas, I thought I'd give it a go, and for the money it is an absolute steal! I would highly recommend it to any parent with a child who has an inquisitive mind and likes the idea of travelling the globe. My daughter already has a number of places in the world that she wants to travel to but this will ignite her imagination even further and teach her a lot more than solely a map could. So much information crammed into such a colourful and beautifully illustrated book. Love it! :)

Usborne books always wonderful

Beautiful books for toddlers. Reading books is a good habit and creating that intrest is our responsibility as parents. Usborne flap books are awesome. Along with fun, it is a learning experience. Not just children, we adults as well learn new things. I would.like to thank usborne for providing such wonderful books. I got a collection now. anybook i need , i just filter by brand usborne and starting looking for books. Th Quality brand usborne.

Beautiful and detailed

The atlas is beautifully designed with lovely illustrations and lots of interesting facts behind the flaps.

Splendid !

Such a Delightful Book crafted for Children ideally from age 7 (who are independent readers) onwards .The book has Interesting trivias about each continent, colourful images with flaps to find out what's special about that place and a very good quality texture. Itd make a great birthday gift of you look for meaningful gift for children. Usborne definitely speaks quality in books !

Lovely book, as always from Usborne.

Great book for my kids. The lift the flap books are great for keeping the kids interested and engaged in learning. We love the usborne books.

Interesting and clever design

Very informative and easy for a 6 year old to read by herself. Clever design appeals to child’s curiosity.

Highly recommend

4th flap book i have bought for my 2 grandchildren. They love them they are informative, fun, bright and good value. It has a good world map that is a pull out . Would highly recommend

Wonderful series

These Lift the Flap books are wonderful and I’m slowly getting the whole series for my young grandsons. So informative and beautifully illustrated. At two and half years my youngest grandson can name every planet for instance! A must for any child’s book case

Extremely educational for both kids n mommies

The best part about this book turned out to be the world atlas poster that we got with it. Its on our wall and my 2.5 YO can name most major countries from it. It has also certainly enhanced my knowledge of world geography a lot. The book is filled with tiny lift the flaps for each continent full of little titbits about that part of the world. However, the maps inside donot show countries but rather concentrate on geography and fun facts. I can't deny that those are really fun fir kids and adults alike even though I wish they would have marked the countries clearly.

Great books

The usborne books are great and lovely. They have answers to the thousands of questions of the little and curious.I bought many Usborne books for my daughter. And we parents are interested in these books, too. I certainly recommend usborne books.

Beautiful book

This is such a beautiful book. Makes a perfect present and is just lovely in design and detail - my 3 year old loves it and lifting the little flaps to find new animals in different countries.

Excellent first atlas.

I looked at a few children's atlases before deciding on this one as it strikes a good balance between interactivity and detail. My little one loves looking at the pictures and opening the flaps showing the different features of the countries and when he gets a little older, there is enough information in the book to keep him interested until he is old enough for a more comprehensive one. The world map with all the flags is excellent too, we spent a long time looking at these and picking which ones were our favourites.

Beautiful book for a 5-6 year old

Bought for my Grandaughter. It has helped with her geographical knowledge and she enjoys reading it. The book itself is a beautiful quality item and very good value.

Highly recommended

Brought this book for my son when he was 4 and now he is 5, he still loves to read it.

GOOD

Great book for 6 year old

Superb gift for any curious child

This was a gift and was very well received. The child enjoys playing with the flaps and the various loving parts of the book, which gives them agency and further engages them in learning about the world.

Lift the Flap Picture Atlas

This is a wonderful Atlas which has been beautifully illustrated by Kate Leake. There environmental themes depicted in each Geographical region are immediately eye catching and full of interest to people of all ages.I really enjoyed the numerous lifting flaps which are durable and full of interest. I would have liked to see a more detailed map of the Svalbard Arctic area showing young scientists researching Polar Bears and the Aurora. That aside the images from across the world are depicted in a highly original illustrative style that avoids reinforcing stereotypical views of the world's people and regions. The images refect the wonderful artistic skills of Kate Leake. An excellent buy, and extremely good value.

Fabulous Book

Is a fabulous book for children between the ages 4-8 , reasonably informative and beautifully illustrated. One can’t go wrong with Usborne publications.

Great first atlas

I have a very inquisitive toddler who loves this book. Lovely illustrations, the world map poster has the maps of the world on it, great information for a child!! Would definitely recommend.

Must

highly recommend it, my 4 year little one loved it and comes with big map

Nice introductory Atlas

The book is good for a little older child... 5+. Good for the child to explore on their own. Full size map at the back of the book is good with all the flags too. But being paper it won't last long with 5 year olds.

Amazing Book

Amazing book and came with a world map that I've just put up today... very happy

Good Fun!

Great fun incorporating geography education!

Highly recommended

OMG this was such a hit with my god son. This was part of his birthday gift and he loved it. Forget him, I loved it. So cool and exciting and engaging. Highly recommended!

Beautiful book

I bought this for my cousin’s baby shower, so that her daughter can grow up learning about the world. She said “well this is a book we’ll keep forever”.

Very happy with the atlas

It’s very interesting even for my 2.5 year old to see the pictures and the facts.

horrible

I was expecting something better, this book is waste of money it's not so true and learns wrong things that are not true for example for Poland there is cabbage and pigs, I mean really?! That is all a child can learn about Poland? Giving some random examples you know what, better show just maps and borders so they would be clearer. Instead we have loads of (useless) pictures can't see borders properly, (even borders of continents for that matter) utter ridiculous book. In addition: what one must have in their head to put pictures like this in childrens book? (look photo) Spare yourself and a child this gross indoctrination. I mean why not go all the way ,lets put pictures of half eaten bodies by lions in Africa. Have a great day.

Great condition

Beautiful book. ecellent second hand condition, looks like has barely been read and many flaps not lifted. Extremely happy with this purchase.

Map not included

Positives The book arrived quickly and the condition was as described. Negatives Book says on the front cover- 'With a giant world map poster' However the pocket on the back cover at the back of the book was empty.

Lovely

Son loves this. Hours of fun. He loves all the little flaps, there are plenty of them with lots of info.

I had seen one so know what I purchasing

Oh it’s such an interesting book. Any hours of knowledge to be gathered. Thanks

Super book

Super book to introduce kids to how big the world and how diverse all of us are. My daughter is hooked.

Very pleased

Amazing service I ordered this Thursday evening & it arrived Friday lunch time which I didn't expect this time of year. It is a lovely book my grandson will love it

teaching aid for chidren ( and adults too!)

This is a very colourful and informative book which gives the reader a very good, though simple view of the various countries in our world. The "lift the flap" idea makes it inter-active which is very popular for younger children as the answer is not immediately known by just looking. I'm hoping to have a great time "reading" and "learning" along with my "rising 4 years old" grand daughter when I visit with her in USA next month.

Lovely for geography learning

Love this. Fabulous illustrations and beautifully designed. I want to lift up the flaps to see what's underneath but I'd better not as it's a gift for my granddaughter!

A nice book

It was a gift so no problems

Brilliant buy!

Bought for our 4.5yr old boy who is interested in different countries and the world but has very limited understanding. It's brilliant. Lots of flaps, loads of information and the big map of the world is a great idea too. Imagine we'll be reading and looking at this for years to come. Excellent quality.

Educational and fun

Lovely little book!

Great Picture Atlas

This is the 3rd picture atlas we have bought as each child we gave it to loved it. It's very informative, great fun and taught us adults a lot about the world that we didn't know also. We will be buying more for other children's birthdays coming up! The children we have given it to range in age from 4-6 and all love it.

Nice graphics

What a super book

This is a great book to take as a present for both boys and girls, full of rich colours and all kind of information. I loved the map too, it is hung on my grandson's room wall. Thank you for this product, he spent hours opening the little tabs and read what is there.

Excellent book

I have bought this book from Amazon about 3 or 4 times and kept one for us and given the others as gifts. I highly recommend it ......it is a fun way for children to experience a first Atlas. I bought it for age range 4 yrs 5 yrs and 6 yrs.

World Book!

My daughter is nearly 4 years old and absolutely loves her "World Book" as she calls it! She has great fun opening the flaps and learning about other countries. I've noticed that since she has had the book, she travels all over the world in her imaginative play. It has definitely widened her horizons!

My Seven Year Old Son Loves It
