Book in excellent shape!

Twenty years ago our distribution company tried developing a strategic business plan. Marc calls this process "a 27 page plan Strategic Plan which sits in a desk drawer and collects dust". The process of developing it was a useful exercise in manager communication, but the follow through was poor. We've also had consultants help us. We are now implementing Marc's "One Page Plan" discussed in his book, and using his website to implement the plan. It is simple enough for most anyone to understand, and the online version makes it easy to maintain and share. It's one page! So far it has been a useful tool for managers, and we trust it will help each associate in our company better understand where we're going and their part.

Leading with Purpose will make you a more effective leader. It will help you stay focused on the goals that matter most and keep you organized along the way. The book and the system is user friendly and intuitive. It has changed our entire team and has improved our clarity of purpose and has engaged and empowered us to be more successful, solve problems and manage change in our organization. Leading With Purpose was instrumental in my work with my teams. I coach high school soccer. Using the steps outlined in the book helped me take my high school team to the next level on several fronts. First, we used the values exercise to help establish expectations from all stakeholders associated with our teams. Then, we used the goal setting piece to really help our players understand the importance of short term, mid-range and long term goal setting to success. We would divide the season into three parts and then made reasonable goals for each and also dreamed a bit. However, everyone recognized that we had no reasonable way to execute a much broader vision. We had tons of ideas, but no cohesive plan to execute our ideas. We read the book together and spent a large amount of time figuring out as an organization who we were and why our customers used us. From that analysis we determined what our priorities should be. We ended up with a very simple one page plan of action that everyone understood. The plan created a rallying cry for our organization. Every person from the CEO to the receptionist now understands what our quarterly, annual, 3 year, 5 year and 10 year goals are. The book provided us with an ability to get our organization aligned. We are almost at the end of our 1st quarter together utilizing our one page plan and the change in our office is dramatic. We are making and achieving our goals as a team and this book and Marc's guidance have proven to be instrumental.

Very glad Marc presented his book and processes to the company I work at. He described the why behind his processes and then provided a simple but effective way to conduct them.
