Subversive in the best way

As the mother of a gay son who remembers the discrimination he suffered in his youth, I am happy this charming book is available now. If, through my purchase, I am also contributing support for gay rights while competing with the sales of that other book, I am even happier. Love is something to celebrate, not demonize.

Same sex marriage bunnies

The lack of a straight forward title or description of the real message in the book Is deceitful. the plot of this book was explained by my 7 year old son as "we can be whatever we decide we are, and its okay for two BOY bunnies to get married." NOT the Christmas night conversation I was hoping to have! I understand books can be a wonderful way to address tricky subjects, however there should be representation of that subject in the title or the synopsis of the book!!! Honestly I feel like I was scammed into bringing Bundos hidden agenda straight to my childs bedroom!

A Deplorable Travesty

I cannot fathom how a book like this ever made it to press only NOT to be in a run large enough for its awaiting audience. I had to wait two full months to share this heartwarming tale and transcendent imagery with my young, impressionable son. He’s only a kid; he should be shielded from the ugly truth about supply chains. Tell me, John Oliver: How I’m supposed to explain THAT to my child?

Soooooo cute!

Such a cute book about love, supportive friends, being different, and voting for love. Buy it for everyone and then go donate to the Trevor project. :)

Best little bunny story ever

Marlon Bundo rocks! Best little bunny story ever. Wonderful, inspiring message, for all ages. Thank you, John Oliver and crew, for making this uplifting story of love.

Don't be a stinkbug

I worked with someone who told me that one of the things they had to get across to their children was "different isn't bad, it's just different". That the point of the book. That it also pokes fun at Mike Pence is just a bonus that will be lost in children, but one look at the stink bug had me convinced. And the proceeds that would have gone to Last Week Tonight go th charity is a bonus.

After successfully completing my conversion(shock) therapy sessions with Focus on the Family, I found this book sitting on the bus stop corner. After reading three times over, I never knew the struggles of Mr. Marlon Bundo could be so pertinent to our nation's struggles but also our own internal ones. From here on out, only male bunnies for me.

Look inside before purchasing

Of all the children's books I have researched and purchased over several years, this one found me in an awkward situation with my son attempting to read it to his young children. Part of the story is about two gay bunnies, who then get married by a lesbian bunny. Ok for some, maybe most, but not for my family and maybe not yours. The message the author is trying to convey to a three and five year old?...I'm not sure...let's consult the good book.

Bought the book

It is for a good cause and loved the book. Especially liked The Stink Bug artwork. Very animated and realistic.

Awww... what a sweet silly book!

Yes, it took me less than five minutes to read it, and cost $12, but it is sweet, and silly, and has an AWESOME message, and the proceeds g9 to a great cause! Bunnies should marry whomever they want!

Not the one I expected re. Mike Pence

Not for children

This book is outrageous...

This book is outrageously cute. I am an adult and I cried after reading it. Its message of tolerance, love and acceptance of yourself is wonderful! I think everyone should have children so they can read this book to them. I hope to see a better world with more Murlon Bundos and less Mike Pences.

This is the Better Bundo Book!

A charming book of love and tolerance with an extremely talented cast.

Deceitful title

Deceitful title. Not what we want to discuss with a 4 year old.

Unfair black eye to the Pence family, to Christians & to animals!

Unfair black eye to the Pence family, to Christians & to animals! To smear the Pence family's pet rabbit's name is just very wrong! Warning to all Christian parents to NOT buy this book due to homosexual content. Insult to all animals who have the God given sense to mate with the opposite sex! Buy the real story written by Charlotte Pence.

Great book.

Loved the book! My son loved the pictures.

It's also for a good cause.

Bought two copies, worth every penny. It's also for a good cause.

Purchased For the Children in Our Wedding

When my partner Adam and I first told our family that we were getting married, they were all extremely excited. One of the highlights of our destination wedding to Puerto Morelos, Mexico is that we have a lot of nieces and nephews that are going to participate. But some of them, yes the children, had the most negative reactions. I remember hearing from my eight year old niece "Ewwwww. Boys can't marry boys. That's just gross. You need to find a girlfriend or you'll never be happy." Her mother is by no means conservative (they live in Massachusetts of all places) and was horrified that that is how her daughter thought. This is my eight-year-old niece who I love telling me that I can't get married because it's to a boy. I was devastated ... Yes, by what an eight year old girl thought about us getting married but more about our movement, our fight for equality. I was naive to think this generation growing up now would think that being gay was different, but certainly not gross or abnormal. Over the next few months, I tried to explain to her that I love Adam. That regardless of him being a boy and me being a boy that we deserved to be happy and have the same opportunities as a boy and a girl getting married. While her reactions have softened, she still thinks that a boy and a girl getting married is the "right thing to do." When I ask where this is coming from, she tells me that that's what she sees in life, whether it's at school, in movies, on TV, in stores, etc. It's Boys and Girls Together not boys and boys or girls and girls. I am extremely grateful to John Oliver and his team for putting this book together. My soon-to-be husband (we get married on November 5th, 2018) and I have purchased a copy for every family with children that are attending our wedding. We hope to use this as an educational tool so that they can see, finally, in something that is made for them, that two men getting married is anything but gross. I look forward to updating my review on how it goes. Thanks again John, et al. Sincerely, Justin & Adam

Boo stink bug... Boo!

Marlon Bundo is the smartest thing living in that house and truly, the one good thing about Pence, I liked the dog too. Maybe Pence is really like Marlon on the inside. I hope Pence finds his Wesley one day.

Is this really a book worthy of an Easter basket?

I wanted to purchase a book for my granddaughters Easter baskets that was fun, happy and shared an ‘appropriate’ message for their young age. But this book clearly addresses things like individuality, acceptance of our ‘differences’, loving others because they are kind and good, regardless of their orientation, standing with friends to support what is right and standing together and taking action against those that are wrong. I don’t see this book as a political statement or attempting to pit the public against another book about a bunny. It’s a little story with a big message about love and kindness. Turns out these are exactly the values I want to instill in my granddaughters. This book will be a proud addition to their Easter Baskets!

Delightful.

Sweet and charming. The audio book is wonderful. Completely kid-appropriate.

TRUTH and LOVE conveyed so simply even a BUNNY can understand it.

This is not only a wonderful use of the real life public figure "Marlon Bundo" the Pence family's beloved pet rabbit, it is also a very good book! I don't mean that it's a good book just because it opposes Mike Pence and his bigoted views towards the LGBTQ community and diversity in general, I mean it's actually, and truly a very very good book. This whimsical tale is a wonderfully cute and fun read that promotes the values of friendship, the value of choice, and that it's OK to be different. (Also, despite what some delusional haters seem to be claiming, this book does NOT mention, specify or even elude to anything that is actually or even remotely or vaguely explicitly sexual in nature whatsoever. There is not one single mention of sex or anything pertaining to it to be found. As a child, we know that people fall in love and get married long before we know what they do in bed afterwards. In this vein of thought, Cinderella is just as guilty of whatever these people are accusing this story by Marlon Bundo of doing.) Anyways, we bought the Kindle Version and we also have a hard copy on the way. I've already read the book aloud to my children as well as my entire family (twice) and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, even the pets. After the first reading, one of my children actually said to me "That's beautiful" and I agreed. They then went on to tell me that it was also "almost" as beautiful as the fact that this book about the official Bunny of the Vice President of the United States of America "Marlon Bundo" depicts said bunny as being gay and wanting to marry a gay brown bunny, would surely annoy the Vice President and his family quite a lot, and that it's very obviously that they deserve to be annoyed by this book because they are so hateful towards gay people and and non whites. The saying really is true, kids say the darnedest things... They also know FAR more about what is going on than most adults give them credit for. So... This is the point in my initial review (this is my second attempt) that I referred to the great charities that this book is supporting as I was actually one of the first people to review this book as soon as it was released but I unwittingly broke the rules by posting external links to the charities that the proceeds from the sale of this book will be funding. So now I know... adding a link to a charity group (or anything else for that matter) will result in your review going into a sort of "limbo" state for a great deal of time, during which you cannot edit, delete or write a new review. So... for future reference, the 3 or 4 or other people reading this that may wish to add links to a review in the future and did not know it was against the rules, will now know that it will get your review declined. Either way, the charities that this book are supporting are far more specialized than "art therapy" which is what the Pence family chose to promote with their Lesser Bundo Book. In fact, I'm quite certain that "art therapy" is not even covered on my health insurance plan... Is it covered on yours? Perhaps it could help a person paint away the gay? Engage in a little scribbling and then erase the AIDS? I'm certain that art can quite seriously be a great form of therapy for some people, but does it truly need to be administered by a professional in order to achieve the desired results? I guess I will likely never know, as it is not covered on my insurance anyways... In contrast, the TREVOR Project and AIDS UNITED, the charities benefiting from the sale of THIS book, are devoted to helping other less fortunate bunnies that are also different like Marlon Bundo and/or may be fighting off something that is very terrifying and deadly. Artistry in this case, is of course, optional. To sum it all up, I highly recommend this book to ANYONE that can read or be read to regardless of age or species.

Cute, age appropriate book with a positive message.

Since it is only $1.95 for the audiobook, we decided to get it while we wait for the hardback copy. What a treat it turned out to be, and it far surpassed our expectations. We listened to it with our 5 and 6 year old, and they really enjoyed it. Even my husband and I found parts of it entertaining ("Dill Prickle", anyone?). Jim Parson's really brings Marlon to life, and I loved the additional voices. Despite some other reviews, my husband and I found it age appropriate for our kids. It was written from Marlon's POV, which is childlike, and my kids found it relatable. As an example it talked about hopping though "boring" meetings with "boring" people, and those who spend time with kids know that they can find adults, and most definitely their meetings, boring. The positive message was a great way to open up a conversation about acceptance and love in an age appropriate way. So glad this book is a out there, and would recommend it to others.

Why no princesses?

I'm rating this one star because while I really really really want to, I can't take it to story time with me when I entertain children in costume as a princess. There are no princesses in it! How weird would that be? And the Stink Bug character reminds me of someone awful and no child's innocence should be ruined by such a reality.

Wonderful story of friendship and love! Not compatible with iOS devices...yet?

I bought one for myself and one as a gift. I love this book, the story, characters and illustrations are absolutely charming and I recommend it! Our world needs love and happiness, good messages and books about standing up for yourself, books about bunnies, books about true friends and taking care of each other. My only sadness is that this book is not compatible with iOS so you cannot read on the iPhone or iPad, only on a Mac computer. I hope this changes soon!! No matter, buy the book because the proceeds go to an excellent cause.

This is the Book We've All Been Waiting for

A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo is an adorably animated and eloquently told tale. While I'm waiting for my two copies of the hardback edition to come in the mail, I've already listened to the audiobook and it's SO very good! Jim Parsons is such a wonderful narrator and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jeff Garlin, Ellie Kemper, John Lithgow, Jack McBrayer, and RuPaul all add so much life and emotion to the story. I found myself actually tearing up and getting chills while listening to it. It seems silly since it's a children's book, however, it carries such an important and heartfelt message. I've been teaching my children that it's okay to love anyone, they can be anyone, and they don't have to conform to gender norms. It's really nice that I now have a book for them that shows them that as well as assists them in handling bullies and discrimination. Thank you so, so much to John Oliver and all of the others that contributed to making this book possible. It is an honor to be able to purchase this book in all of its forms to support not only John Oliver and Last Week Tonight but also the very important and worthy causes it donates to.

The message the author is trying to convey to a three and five year old?...I'm not sure...let's consult the good book.

this was the best thing I've ever done

Okay, this was the best thing I've ever done. I ordered the Audible version, because I thought I would get less strange stares from people wondering "Why is this teenage girl reading this children's book over and over and over?" The whimsical tone and writing style is phenomenal! This book is appealing to children and adults alike. The voice acting made me giddy! Jim Parsons and the rest made me smile! Good on you, John Oliver and the rest of the team! I urge all of you with or without children to buy this book for yourself, for your kids, and for your cat named Pajama.

This is so fricken cute! Much better than the other Marlon Bundo book.

A wonderful way to discuss that's is ok to love who you love. Be it a boy bunny, a girl bunny, or a stinkbug. And proceeds go to The Trevor Project and AIDS United. Bonus!

Not cool.

I was looking for a nice book to get my son for his birthday that would be positive and teach tolerance and acceptance. So I was really excited when I ordered this book because it looked so darn cute! But I was incredibly disappointed because while I’m not a fan of mike pence or trump by any stretch of the imagination, it just really didn’t fit into a book I want to read to my 4 year old child. I feel like it was a political book using acceptance and tolerance as the “theme”. Again, I’m not at all a supporter of mike pence and trump, but it’s not something I feel is appropriate to discuss with my preschooler. I will be more cautious next time I buy a children’s book on amazon! The description should be more transparent about what is inside the book.

This is a beautifully illustrated, incredibly sweet story and it warms my heart to think children will be able to use it to better understand their LGBT friends and classmates or see their own experiences represented in a way that is loving and uplifting. It’s the kind of story I was sorely missing as a child, but I’m glad to have it now. I’m also very grateful to know that proceeds go to the Trevor Project, which provides outreach for LGBT youth in hostile or dangerous environments. I’ve nearly lost a couple of very close friends to attempted suicide due to homophobic harassment, so this charity is very dear to my heart.

An actually lovely children's book for actual children.

I now own three copies: one hardcover, one kindle and one audio - which is completely lovely and well worth the donation (ALL PROCEEDS GO TO CHARITY!) From our friends at Common Sense Media, an independent non-profit organization helping parents make media choices for their children, four stars: "appropriate for children of four years and older." Highest ratings for "positive messages" and "positive role models and representations." Written by Jill Twiss (with an assist from Marlon Bundo) and illustrated by EG Keller (aka Gerald Kelley) about, well... a in the life of Marlon Bundo, the real-life rabbit of the Pence family. You might know the Pence family because their dad is Mike: Vice President of the United States. The pictures are quite adorable and it's actually a very lovely story about everyone being different and that's awesome. Also, it's nice to hop together rather than alone. Oh, and animals make a perfect bridal party -- I learned a lot! In the audio version Jim Parsons plays Marlon Bundo, John Lithgow plays the evil stinkbug (not too scary for kids, but scary enough) and tons of other lovely voice acting in this short children's book from the likes of Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jeff Garlin, Ellie Kemper, Jack McBrayer, and RuPaul!

Every child should hear this sweet story.

I contemplated between giving this a one star or five stars, as the campaign to troll the trolls looking for hate only to find effusive praise behind each of the one star reviews has been wonderful to witness...but ultimately I chose to stick with the five star now that the anti-troll trolls have made the very fun and entertaining point that haters won't find kindred souls in the reviews and comments stream attached to this wonderful book. All jokes aside, as this was written with the express intent to compete, and beat, Pence's book with a kinder message of inclusion for all...and it hits a home run! But even without the vice president's book in the equation, this is a sweet story that is a wonderful addition to any child's library. It's a message of love that all children should learn, and it's timing could not be better for our country today. I live in the bible belt, and I would love to see this book on the shelves of every elementary school library across the country, but most especially here where intolerance is on the menu of every child's Sunday morning forced lessons. Better to teach love and kindness as their own Jesus did. Makes for a much nicer world.

Tell us more about Marlon and Wesley

This sweet story of two bunnies in love is not just for children, adults will enjoy it too. I am waiting for the sequel, Marlon and Wesley have a family. Please Jill, John and the other collaborators, don't stop now, let us know what happens next

Precious

This book is precious and a wonderful lesson in not just tolerance but humanity. The artwork is beautiful, wholesome, old-school and telling if the story itself. I won't lie, I'm also a huge fan of the subtle and not so subtle digs at a vice president who is so far right it's not right. Pence has repeatedly espoused his intolerant beliefs and his out-right rejection of science, intelligence and human decency in favor of his fictional 1950's USA which wasn't so nice for most Americans including my families which had been here for almost a century but were held back by european ancestry and poverty and not part of his fabled, wonderful United States which was actually in the throes of the Korean war which his party started (not Lincoln's party because the Republican's switched ideologies with the Democrat's during the reconstruction following the Civil War which is basically how the Daughter's of the Confederacy put memorials in most American cities...even ones that were not part of America at the time) for practically no reason at all other than to stop the self-destructive ideology of communism which did, predictably, self-destruct.

Don’t make the mistake I made.

Don’t make the mistake I made! Was in a hurry and bought this book not realizing it was not Marlon Bundo written by Charlotte Pence and illustrated by Karen Pence but a look alike. Big difference between the 2 books! Not a fan of this one. The book written by Charlotte Pence is educational for children about our nation and the book written by Jill Twiss in my option is not! Left a one star review because I had to.

Great story for kids

What I like most is the book creatively shows to children that love is universal.

Wonderfully Touching Story

This is a touching beautiful story for children of all ages. It brought tears to my eyes. No one should ever be alone. "Hooray!" said all of our friends. Because that is what friends say. ❤️😊

Fantastic story

I need to get some hard copies of this book to send to my Grandchildren. I think that it is a good idea to let them see stories on the importance of not being hateful to someone just because they are different. Also, I am glad that Marlon doesn't have to be lonely any more.

Cutest Bunny Book ever (love the bow tie). Bought it for my 9 year old granddaughter, but at 67, I read it thought it was so inspirational and well illustrated. Let's have a sequels, then the movie . . . . Heck, Marlon Bundo for President !

"We rise and fall and light from dying embers, remembrances that hope and love last longer"

Life can be rough, especially if you're going through it all alone. If you find somebody who makes your heart hop and who wants to keep on hopping together with you forever, you don't want to give them up. Everyone is different. And different is NOT bad. Different is special.

I hate it..

...was so short! They could've made it longer With the tale about how they adopted a baby bunny, the return of the stink bug, and his friend the orange pig :) But i Guess it will be revealed in the sequel? P.S. Bought one to my 7 yo niece. As a part of her English education :)

Adorable story

Your children will love the story of a bunny that wants to live who he loves without condemnation. This book is warm and quirky and an absolute testament to embracing diversity and unconditional acceptance. May you find and embrace your own uniqueness.

Adorable book + great cause to support

Such a cute book! It also contributes to great causes, so bonus! :)

Just buy this book already

This book was incredibly good. Sure it was 40 pages long and I only bought this because I love Last Week Tonight, but it excels as a kids book. The art is very charming and beautiful to look at, the characters are very fun, the humor is spot on, and the moral of the story is timeless. I would definitely say buy this for your kids, buy it because you love John Oliver, or just buy it because you know it would piss off Mike Pence. :)

All proceeds to charity is just the sweet frosting on top of the wedding cake!

Big laughs tonight as I read with my daughters...especially how the "very good dog" described himself. 🤣 We love our uncles and our friends and our co-workers...and we also cheer when they find happiness. <3 All proceeds to charity is just the sweet frosting on top of the wedding cake!

I am more than proud and happy to share this with my son

Thank you, John Oliver! And Thank you, Marlon Bundo! In a world that is in dire need of hope, change, and the betterment of its people, you are truly shining beacons of light. I am more than proud and happy to share this with my son. Thank you!

Hop to It! Spread the Word!

A quick, delightful, hopeful, and charming read! The illustrations are lovingly rendered and speak to the simplicity and beauty of the message. Reading it to a young person, one could easily expand the message to include other differences in relationships that are often misunderstood and judged negatively, e.g., disparity in age, socio economic status, physical characteristics, cultural, and religious contrasts. A warm sense of relief came from recognizing the commonality of love and acceptance that transcends our differences.

A beautiful statement brought to us by a foreigner.

I am a fan of John Oliver, it is crazy for me to realize that when you want true news and honest well thought out and exposed opinions we have to rely on comedians these days, but when a Reality TV "Star" is the president with power to obliterate humankind, well, those are the times we live in. I initially bought this book as a middle finger of sorts to the people that the Russians put in power. Honestly, I was not expecting much of it but I was very pleasantly surprised. The book is of great quality both in its artwork and its storytelling. It is like a good Pixar movie where the adults are entertained by the adult "insider" jabs and the children are entertained by the child-friendly and adequate content. My wife, who is a professional educator, proposed an experiment. To read the book with our 4th-grade daughter and see if she could detect the "inadequate" bits. She loved the story start to end and was only saddened by the part of the Stink Bug but happy about the ending. A valuable story indeed. And a valuable experiment to realize that our daughter is still untainted by what we as a society attempt to rule as what is good and what is bad. It is a fantastic fun way to decry what is wrong about us as a society, and a fantastic way to learn with beautiful illustrations what we can all do to change that.

Marlon Bundo, Free to be Himself! Love is Love, even among rabbits!

This is definitely the better Bundo book! Poor sweet Marlon Bundo finds love despite the oppression and hatred he faces from his own family and other so-called "Christians" (or stinkbugs) that judge him. This adorable gay rabbit will hop his way right into your heart! I have raised my daughters to realize that Love is Love. Some families have 2 mommies, some have 2 daddies, some have a single parent. Some kids live with a grandparent. They are all families that love each other and there is no right or better type. People that say that it is wrong for a man to love another man or a woman to love another woman are wrong and we should feel sorry for them because they choose to let hatred fill their hearts with hate rather than being happy for other people that have found love. I happen to be bisexual but even if I was straight and in a heterosexual relationship I would still raise them the same way. I originally rated this book 5 stars but like other reviewers I decided to rate it lower instead to help bury the hateful reviews of the homophobic trolls under an avalance of love. I have written a review of the other Bundo book (verified purchase), sadly I am the only 1 star review left. The rest have been removed. :( https://www.amazon.com/review/RUWI7ZVNNLKG6/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0753W9SWT

"For every bunny who has ever felt different"

Such a cute story with a wonderful message for children, and for adults too. I recommend the audible version, which has amazing actors reading the parts. And every purchase goes to GREAT causes!

A children's book that adults will love!

Adorable Bunny I love the pictures! The message! It is so awesome... and going to two good causes. I bought three books - one as a gift, one for me, and one because I know someone is going to want my book so bad - I'll give it to them and still have one for me!!

Very cute rabbit book

I just watched Last Week Tonight show and bought the book afterwards. I loved the book and the message it gives to people who are different and giving it the stars it deserves. I would highly recommend it.

Great book (and I'm an Evangelical Christian)

Previous review got deleted. Not sure why. I guess it was too political. Ok so I guess I'll rate it 5 stars this time (instead of 1 to try and just annoy the trolls). This is a great book for all. It teaches being inclusive and tolerance, something we could all use more of. It is a book of LOVE. As an Evangelical Christian, I am upset that the political arm of the church has preached so much bigotry and hate. None of that is endorsed by the Bible or Jesus. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves. I read it to my 2 week old daughter. She is a better person now. Highly recommended.

I'm so grateful that this book exists

I wish I had a book like Marlon Bundo when I was a kid. I really do. It's a beautiful story for every bunny who has ever felt different. Teaching us about love and kindness. I've been on the other side of the barricades, in the homophobic camp, and looking back on it, I see how my anger and hate were truly irrational. If I were taught as a kid that there are girls who love boys, and girls who love girls, and girls who love both boys and girls, it would help me understand myself so much better. It's much easier to explain to kids that we are all different and that it is okay, rather than teach them that people who are different are bad or mentally ill. There's also this misconception that same-sex love is something 18+. Because it's actually not? You don't miraculously go POOF and suddenly become gay/lesbian/bi/queer at the age of 18, but you can grow to be an adult who is lost in all the internalised hate and resentment, afraid or ashamed of who you really are. I'm so grateful that this book exists. I really am. And I hope that it will help many kids (and adults) become a little bit kinder and make this world a little bit better.

Truly Well Done!

I know they wrote this to piss off Pence and make fun of his book, but this is actually a REALLY GOOD children’s book. I’ve collected children’s books for around 30 years, and I’ve worked with kids nearly as long. There are very few good stories that represent the LGBTQ community, and this one really does. It’s also funny and the pictures are cute. There are certainly good jabs at Pence and boring politicians, but it’s absolutely intended for kids. I read it to some of my preschool class (ages 3 & 4), and they loved it! One girl kept talking about it afterwards, and she wanted me to read it again. I wasn’t expecting it to be a really good children’s book (sorry!). I thought it would be more geared to adults just laughing at Pence. But it’s truly well done. Definitely worth the month long wait!

Rabbit Romance

I suspect that if America eventually forgets everything else about "Last Week Tonight" (and I'd rue any day when that came to pass), John Oliver will have made his distinctive mark on pop culture with this innovation. So, even with all of their financial proceeds going to support AIDS United and the Trevor Project, this is a shrewd branding and publicity move from Oliver and Co. Not that there's anything wrong with a good show cementing its image and getting positive attention while spreading a worthy message! The cleverest part is that this book definitely qualifies as political satire, yet it is performed at a level--and with an underlying message--that works very well for children. I haven't come across many books that have been both so clearly ( to grown-ups) satirical and so child-friendly. Hence my referring to the book as innovative: while there are certainly kids' books, movies, or TV shows that also work on an adult level, I've yet to see one as overtly topical or as directly, unflinchingly focused on contentious and crucial concerns as Oliver's "Bundo". I'd just ask those who so vehemently disagree with the content of this book, firstly, to carefully reconsider calls for any writings or speech whose contents you may disagree with to be removed. Suppression of speech is rarely (if ever) a constructive problem solver, and any move to set a such a precedent cuts against the agency of a free and open society in which we can talk about things to learn from each other to continue developing our thinking. Secondly, would those who so clearly assert the right to determine what is appropriate for their own children please think of extending that choice to other families? Maybe you don't feel this book is suitable for your child, but other families feel just as strongly that this book can provide something of great value to their children, and they have just as much of a right (and a duty) to teach their children in the best ways they know how as do you. I can see the message of Oliver's "Bundo", despite or maybe even because of its specificity, resonating with both kids and adults long after our present leaders are washed away through history. This book may just be perfect for any young child who needs to know that love matters, and that their feelings are not only acceptable but are worthy of being embraced, honored, and protected by any society that fully values the well-being of all its members. And if Marlon and Wesley happen to amuse adult readers for other reasons while imparting this bit of truth, that's just a sublime bonus to nurturing a child's sense of self worth and compassion for others.

Winning Combination!

Sweet book, great audible cast-- and a great cause! Absolutely winning combination!

Fantastic!

An amazing read for every bunny who's ever felt different and been oppressed because of it. Buy this even if you don't have kids. The message is needed for ppl of all ages and backgrounds. Simple language, great illustrations, necessary message.

It is narrated by so many actors we love..

We bought both the hardcover book and the audible book so we could hear the story before the hard copy came in the mail. The Audible book is fabulous! My 5yo daughter had us play it three times in a row today! It is narrated by so many actors we love... and it's quite a bargain at under $2! Bravo, John Oliver, et al!

Great book with an even greater purpose!

I bought this book to show my full support to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. This book is a good book to read with a great cast behind the audio version. For all those leaving a 1 star review to simply attack the show's efforts, you should find a better purpose in life.

What a cute story!!

Thank you John Oliver for this clever little book!! I love this story about Marlon Bundo and his special love!! It has a wonderful message about everyone being different but should be accepted for who they are. It was nice to know that my purchase supports the Trevor Project and AIDS United!!

A thought-provoking story with a happy ending.

I loved reading and listening to the Audible narration of this ebook, and enjoyed doing a good deed by buying it. The choice of narrating celebrities is inspired. My husband and I liked the inclusiveness of the story that no child should feel inadequate just because they are different.

Marlon Bundo’s Very Special Day

What a delightfully inspiring book. Wonderful story with beautiful illustrations, it works as a parable for adults and children as well. Thank you John Oliver for supporting this project and for donating the proceeds to such worthy causes! It is making way more money than anyone expected. Sold out. Another publishing run ordered. That is fantastic! Good on ya!

Stands on it's own as a excellent children's book about love, diversity, and incluson.

Sometimes, you look around and say, "Damn. This country I live in doesn't resemble the one I thought I lived in. I thought we were a city on a hill. I thought we were diverse and inclusive and exceptional and free." Sometimes the reality of what is happening around you gets you down. And then, sometimes, that "free" and "exceptional" part kicks in and someone writes a book that you are happy to read to your children about the country you love and the principles it stands for. This isn't just a silly book to counter Pence's silly book. This is excellent standing on it's own. This book is about love and diversity and acceptance...the message in this book is beautiful. The writing is beautiful. The illustrations are beautiful. Bravo.

A Well Thought Out Story of Love!!

As a former teacher who has probably read hundreds, if not thousands, of elementary children's books, I commend you for one of the best written, and beautifully illustrated books I've ever seen. I thought this was going to be a thrown together story to make a political statement, but since I enjoy John Oliver every Sunday, I just decided to get it anyway. It was the first grade teacher coming out in me. BUT ... I actually laughed out loud (twice) and smiled throughout as it is a well thought out book. Beautiful message, funny, colorful, and so on point. Thank you for making my day!!

Delightful

Excellent performances by Jim Parsons, James Tyler Ferguson, Jeff Garlin, Ellie Kemper, John Lithgow, Jack McBrayer, RuPaul. I found the story delightful and the proceeds are going to the The Trevor Project and AIDS United. The book is about love and acceptance. I have seen the printed version of the book and I really recommend it, very nicely done.

And the proceeds that would have gone to Last Week Tonight go th charity is a bonus.

A wonderful children's book about the beauty of family and love!

GET THIS BOOK!

This book is so cute! I can't wait to read this to my little girl and show her at an early age that it doesn't matter what you look like, who you like, what backgrounds you come from as long as you are happy and healthy and spread kindness that is all that really matters. I feel it is super important to make sure every kind of person she may encounter in life or become in life gets represented in literature and film and get her exposed to it early in life. This is such a sweet book and it really is written for children. They always read about fairytales with a prince and a princess falling in love but never a prince and a prince or a princess and a princess falling in love and that's why this book is going to be read and reread to my daughter to make certain she doesn't grow up thinking two guys holding hands is weird or wrong. She will be able to see that as the same as seeing a man and woman holding hands, that is why I love this book because it teaches acceptance of all.

This book is no joke

A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo is 100% child-appropriate, and teaches that you should never be ashamed of who you are or about who you love. The art is lovely. As a bonus, all of Last Week Tonight's profits benefits The Trevor Project. Wonderful.

I ❤️ Marlon Bundo.

Marlon Bundo is such a great bunny! Very nice story about his life. Well written and the art is also good.

I actually bought & read the book.

Side note: you may want to ignore all reviews that do not have “verified purchase” listed on them since it’s quite difficult to write a review on a product you don’t actually have. I found this book to be quite touching. The message is very positive and relevant in the world we live in today. The illustrations are bright and beautiful. As like many children’s movies, there are a few hidden adult references that will get a chuckle but the kids just won’t understand until they’re older. The message is that it’s beautiful to be different, and that’s something that I do want my children to learn at every age. I commend John Oliver for what he’s done and the charities he’s looking to support with sales of this book. I don’t think it takes away from the Pence family’s book at all, since people are just as easily able to purchase that book too. I, personally, felt uncomfortable purchasing the Pence book due to their book tour making a stop at focus on the family. I’m glad Oliver gave us an alternative option that supports all who live around the world, not just the ones who follow what’s always been. Happiness is the goal, not judgement of others, and this book presents that beautifully.

Take that--VP Pence!!!

My husband ordered two as soon as he saw it on Last Week Tonight. One for our house and one for our two granddaughters (ages one and five). Love is love, and we believe that each person is equal to another with the same rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Best of all, Marlon Bundo gets to live a life of love and acceptance. He is a good-looking rabbit. I don't think this will find a place on my shelf of personal favorites of children's literature, but I am happy ths book is out for it's message to be shared. Overall, a good effort and I'm happy to contribute to the important work of Aids United and the LGBTQ charity the Trevor Project. #RESIST #ProtestIsPatriotic

Best bunny book since Bunnicula.

As the mother of a gay son who is married to a man this book touched my heart. A sweet story of love and friendship that is needed for everyone. The names of the characters are so clever and beautifully illustrated. Recommend it for all ages.

Amazing and heart warming story!

Absolutely accurate! I will cherish this book and read it with my children as often as they will let me.

what a great book!!!!

what a great book - shows there are all kinds of love and being open minded is he best kind of love. Money goes to a great cause too - buy this book now!

Adorbs.

Adorable. Although I have to say I don’t think this reads like a regular picture book reads, just structurally. Not that I review a ton of picture books or anything. It’s just . . . the flow of it didn’t seem quite right. But that’s not really the point, is it? The point is to stick a foot up Mike Pence’s ass by taking his bunny, making him gay, and having him get married in a children’s book and then donating all proceeds of said children’s book to The Trevor Project and AIDS United. That’s called irony, kids. That should be the next book: A Day in the life of Ernie Irony. Also the angry, homophobic bug that looks shockingly similar to Pence. Gee. I wonder if that’s a coincidence. Look. If you bought and read this book you didn’t get it because it’s a quality picture book. You bought it because you hate Mike Pence and it just so happens to pass as a children’s book with an excellent, teachable message. It served its purpose with some cute images and a whole ton of money going to some great charities. If they’re still available, go buy one. 5

The story is about 2 male bunnies that become close friends and find happiness with each other

This a best-seller children's story book that is perfect for a parent to read to his or her child. It has wonderful illustrations of bunnies in an outdoor setting. The story is about a pet rabbit that actually belongs to Vice President Mike Pence. The plot of this version of Marlon Bundo's story is that Marlon meets another boy bunny named Wesley and falls in love with him, in a bunny kind of way. The two bunnies get married at a ceremony performed by a female cat cleric named Pajama, who is accompanied by her female feline wife. Apparently the proceeds from the sale of this book are donated to the Trevor Project, a charitable organization that offers crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ youth. I donated a copy of the book to the recreation center in my apartment community.

Awww

What a precious story about love and friendship and the support we all need from time-to-time. Marlon Bundo deserves to be with the bunny he loves forever!! I'm going to ask my friends to buy this book too because they know what it means to be loving and supportive.

Fantastic book.

Thank you for teaching about empathy and understanding, and for pushing back against ignorance. Fantastic book.

Happy Daze for bunnies!

Happy! Happy! Happy! Day for all bunnies, even a Senior Bunny like me! The big Stink Bugs who were in charge for a very long time would not allow any bunnies (even Senior Bunnies) to marry the bunny they loved IF they were different. Finally the most important bunnies in the world and who wear long black robes decreed (they said) that a bunny (even a Senior bunny) can marry whoever they love. This made the Big Stink Bugs unhappy, but made all bunnies (even Senior Bunnies like me) very happy happy happy! ☺

This is a very lovely book with beautiful illustration. Enjoyed both audio and kindle version.

Subversive and powerful

The hope we need for our nation all in this beautiful and charming book- a satire book staring a bowtie wearing gay bunny. Outside of the overt social messages here and the satire (for those that don't know the story, this is poking fun at Charlotte Pence's book about their pet bunny and shares a political message (and donated money) to organizations supporting LGBTQ+ communities)- but underneath all that is actually a really sweet and charming story about letting yourself love who you want to love, about acceptance, and about the love winning all.

Love is love

This is a very cute love story and I am proud to share it with my young son's. Love is love.

HBO's Emmy-winning Last Week Tonight with John Oliver presents a picture book about a Very Special boy bunny who falls in love with another boy bunny

dont' think it is or was on kindle unlimited, but actually got this one on audio instead of letting my system 'read' the words to me {not audible, the computer just does it with various programs} I should have known, from watctching John Oliver's HBO show, that I should NOT be drinking anything while watching or listening because pepsi hurts when I end up snorting and it ending up going in to my sinuses As usual, Oliver is classic and spot on. HBO's Emmy-winning Last Week Tonight with John Oliver presents a picture book about a Very Special boy bunny who falls in love with another boy bunny. Meet Marlon Bundo, a lonely bunny who lives with his Grampa, Mike Pence - the Vice President of the United States. But on this Very Special Day, Marlon's life is about to change forever... With its message of tolerance and advocacy, this charming children's book explores issues of same sex marriage and democracy. Sweet, funny, and beautifully illustrated, this book is dedicated to every bunny who has ever felt different. 100% of Last Week Tonight's proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project and AIDS United

Fun Book For The Whole Family !

Very cute book and highly recommended. I actually got the book from the charity website but brought the audio book from Amazon. Well worth having both as the audio book is equally as great. Not really a big fan of Parson's but he does do a great job as do the other players. My favorite is John Lithgow as the "Stink bug"

This helped.

I bought this because my youngest child is having some issues connecting with her LGBTQ+ older sibling. They share the book, and it helps them find a great middle-ground and enjoy spending time with each other and teaches my youngest child that she can understand her older sibling's differences instead of treating it in the awful way the other kids at her elementary school do. A great quarantine buy for a family stuck together that helped take the edge off of the sibling battles.

Best laughs I've had in a while!

This book totally floored me with laughter. Aside from the fact that we are all "sticking it to Pence" by buying this version instead of his, this book is absolutely beautiful. The colourful drawings jump out of the page and one gets immersed in the story - but... it ends too quickly (a very happy ending, though)! I can't help but wonder whether the Pences actually know that their beloved bunny's name is most likely taken from Marlon Brando who, I believe, was gay? That's certainly ironic! And hilariously funny to think Mike Pence is that dense..."Well, doggone it, Ma, I didn't know Marlon was a fruity-tutty, otherwise, I'd have named it Rock Hudson!" Hee, hee, hee...

LOVE! Great Story that children will love

I bought the Book and the Audiobook. LOVE! Great Story that children will love. Knowing that 100% of Last Week Tonight's proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project and AIDS United is Amazing.

Not the Stink Bug!!!

Having already had our own bunny-perfect day out and hopping about my hubby and I arrived home to a surprise Amazon box on the porch and the surprise inside was even better: “A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo!” As a family misfits — 2 spectacular rescue dogs, a polydactyl cat, and 2 previously lonely individuals who found their special somebunnies in middle age — we give 12 thumbs up (Cali has 4 thumbs)! Different is special and so is this book!!! No one in their right mind or who has a soul would actually give this anything less then 5 stars....

A wonderful book to read to your children

this is a warm, sweet, sensitive story that shows there is nothing wrong or strange about being gay. Or different. Perhaps this is the right time to talk to your kids about being accepting of all kinds of people.

Delightful and suitable for all ages.

The book is a beautifully illustrated, well written story about love, equality, and differences and who decides who is in charge. The audible version is read by some very familiar voices who do an excellent job.

Sweet tale with a great message

Adorable story and cute illustrations... really like what John Oliver is doing, so we're very happy to support the cause!

Good on its own merits

Great little children's book, independently of its origins. Fine illustrations, good writing, a bit of adventure, and, for these troubled times, ua great closing moral, "Stink bugs are temporary! ".

Wow. It’s fantastic

When I say it’s fantastic, it really is. Even without the stunningly beautiful message, it’s just a great book. We have lots of children’s books and I’ve learned through experience that how enjoyable a book will be for both parent and child can be pretty hit or miss. The length is just long enough for a quick read but the story feels complete enough to satisfy little minds. Upon finishing the story, my daughter squealed “read it again!”. And I did... because I wanted to read it again, too :)

Bursting with Love

How can you not give a five star review to a book so full of love and acceptance? That all the proceeds go to charity is just the icing on the cake.

My 2 year old and 4 year old LOVE this book!

This book says it's for ages 6-8, but I have to say, my 2 and 4 year old absolutely Love it! My 2 year old has been requesting "Bundo! Bundo!" every night for going on two months now; her big brother just love this book and it was his #1 favorite for several months while he was 3 :-) The themes of inclusivity, love, good overcoming bad, having hope, teamwork, caring about one another, and engaging in the democratic process are all touched on so well here! I seriously had conversations with my son about how the voting process works because of this book - and he (at 3 1/2) was the one who initiated the conversations! I cannot say enough good about the book... it's one of my favorite, as well :-)

Best if the Marlon Bundo series yet!

This is a wonderful children's book. The art is fantastic, the writing is witty. I will read this over and over to my young ones.

Love is forever

I hope everybunny (hehe I'm punny) that has ever felt, "different is bad," reads this story and knows there are people out there that support you. Stink bugs are temporary while love is forever. <3

Very upsetting.

I wanted to buy the book, but was forced to listen to the Audible version, because the book is not available. It's upsetting because the story is so wonderful, and the voice talent was so, well, PERFECT, that I can scarcely contain myself in anticipation of receiving the hard copy book. I just found out last night my daughter is expecting my first grandchild. This will be in the nursery for some very sweet story time and lessons on love and acceptance. It's never too soon to teach a child that we are born perfect, no matter how we are made! So excited to receive my book and my grandchild! Life is good!

It's all about love!

This book is such a sweet story about love, friendship and acceptance. There are soooooo many people that need to read this book. My children are grown, but I would have loved to have had this book to put in their library. I know that it's controversial, because I know that bigots exist. But this book is about love. Love should not be controversial. And we should all try to teach our children the lesson of acceptance taught in this book. It's awesome!

Love is forever... as in, I love this book forever!

My 19-month old asks for this book by name. Okay, okay, just "Bundo," but for all the parents out there: you get that this is a request by name and failure to oblige will result in an epic meltdown, so you learn your cues and you cheerfully offer the book at any word resembling the command. Seriously though, I am proud to say that I no longer get audibly choked up at the end like I did before. This is a wonderful book that every child should read and I requested a copy for my local library (bless them, they ordered THREE and I have yet to find a time when the books are not all checked out). You will not regret this purchase, whether you have a small human or not.

Marlon Bundo “Nobody tells me what to do.” The Wild One

John Oliver melted the bitter winter chill of hatred with this beautiful book, It’s good of him to support rabbit authors who so often struggle with finding collaborators like Jill Twiss who can translate and type for them. Bunny paws are difficult to work on the keyboard. The other Bundk book is less for children than this one just in terms of art, this book has illustrations with breathtaking color and beauty, it’s a bright and beautiful world full of funny repetitions and hilarious details just for adults. Also, yes it says it’s a children’s book, but it’s listed under Gay Fiction. People who bought the wrong book really don’t pay close attention. Maybe they didn’t pay close attention to who they were electing either. That would explain a lot. If you buy a book which is #1 in Fay fiction maybe give it a try, the Freudian slip might open your heart if you can engage with the narrative without hate. We need more books that demonstrate falling in love without gender restrictions.

I absolutely adore this book! The positive attention it has received has restored my faith in humanity. A simple story of pure love and acceptance that is important for all children. John Oliver, you are my hero.

A great read for all ages

This book is perfect for these dark times and should be required reading for all parents & children & politicians.

Love LOVE Love

Great book! Please tell me there will be more books like this, telling stories of positive messages to our youth!!

Gay bunnies defy intolerance--a perfect story for all kids!

This is great book, well-written and illustrated, adorable, and, of course, progressive. That it was a best-seller (#1, even) is endearing. John Oliver's group created this book in response to the Mike Pence book about his rabbit (Marlon Bundo). John Oliver is a bit in-you-face about progressive issues, and he takes (rightfully so) issue with Pence's stance on gay marriage and homosexuality in general. All of the proceeds go to charity for at-risk youth (Trevor Foundation). However, this is a John Oliver product (even if not written by him per se), and it's as in-your-face all all of his other performances. I'm guessing the target audience for this book is a staunchly liberal one. Pence's daughter herself, though, bought a copy and said "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and proceeds go to charity, just like our book," so she totally took the high road on it. I've purchased 3 copies for the 3 babies randomly cropping up this past year.

Great book

I am 75 and bought this book just to protest the Stink Bug but I found to my surprise that I loved it ,It brought a smile to my face and made me remember that bullies never win in the end Thank you so much ,

love trumps hate

It's a masterpiece! It makes me want to come back in my next life aslove a gay bunny. Thank you John Oliver!

NOT the Christmas night conversation I was hoping to have!

Very charming

Good little children's book, beautifully illustrated. Amusingly written. Smells funny, though. Not in the good "new book smell" way, either. In a weird, unpleasant chemical sort of way. Maybe it'll go away after it airs out for a while, but it was distinctly noticeable while reading it the first time after I took it out of the box.

Enjoyable book

For a book written speedily and with the main aim of parodying a different book, this is actually a nice little story. Parts of the narrative are repetitive and a bit weak, but it is no worse than the standard moral-oriented children's tale. The illustrations are particularly nice. The underlying satire does not actually get in the way of the literal meaning, and some children could enjoy it if it doesn't conflict with their other teachings. The book does have a strong chemical smell (even though it's been out for weeks now). The Stink Bug's sermon was a particular delight, and the smell somehow enhances the experience.

Truly the better bundo book!

Why settle for a boring account of the day in the life of the pences when you can read the fabulous and most certainly true story of Marlon Bundo himself? Love is love and mike pence can eat a d*ck. <3

Great story to share with your kids

Maybe it was my new mom hormones but I literally cried after reading this for the first time. I bought it in support of the Trevor Project and to help beat Mrs. Pence's bunny book on the bestseller lists, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it's actually a very thoughtful and well written gem of a story. Now that I think of it, this is the only book in my 16 month old daughter's collection that depicts a same-sex relationship. Reading this book with your kids is a great way to encourage them to think of all loving relationships as wonderful and equal regardless of gender.

Great story about diversity, respect and love

A beautifully illustrated, funny yet poignant story for all ages with an important message and values for our times! Diversity of all sorts is part of life, humanity and creation. We appreciate that some of the profits will go to benefit The Trevor Project and AIDS United. Not all of us Christians are V.P Pence-flavored Christians -- there's diversity among us, as well. "A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo" feels like a well-conceived, creative form of expression of different world views and values in response to Pence's Bundo book and V.P. Pence's views and actions (not cool for someone who was elected to one of the highest public offices and called to serve for the welling of all voters and people, without bias or discrimination). I love that V.P. Pence's daughter bought a copy of the book, too!

GREAT BOOK FULL OF PRICELESS FAMILY VALUES

wonderfully read by jim aprsons, great story, full of wonderful family and human values

Such a perfect story with a great cause!!!

With all the hate that seems to be filling our world, this little book warms the heart! John Oliver is a genius!! Buy this book and support a good cause, because everyone deserves to love who they want to and be loved in return!! God doesn't make mistakes.

Funny and touching!

Far from being just a gimmick this book is actually worth reading, in and of itself. I especially like that the stink bug is not in charge anymore.

Sweet book. Great messages.

Sweet book. My 5 year old enjoys it and likes to say how the stink bug is bad haha. Though my husband and I are married, he didn't know what "being married" meant. I love that this introduces him to the idea that married just means when two people (or bunnies) want to be together forever. He named the baby bunny that they dream about having in the end "Goey Goey" lol. I also like the message it sends to kids about the power of voting and if you don't like what the people in charge are saying, you have the power to make changes.

Representation Matters

I bought this for my twin 6 year old nieces... and I just got this text after they read it the other day... 5 Stars! “Yooo sol and naiya really like this book guys its a hit 4 real...the first thing naiya said when we were done reading it the first time is ' well this book sure teaches us a valuable lesson'...oh yea what's that I said.....'that no one can tell you who to love...even if the one in charge says no they can't decide who you love. Only you can decide that'....(😭my baby)...and then today before they asked to read it again naiya says so how come in fairy tales and princess stories the princess always gets married to the prince or it's always a girl and a boy who fall in love? Sooo times they are changing hallelujah but damn we need more of these all kind of different family structure books 📚 Thanks guys so much they need this in their lives and they love it! pretty soon they'll b able to read it to us ✨”

Better Bundo Book

Sweet story. Nice illustrations. Funny names. But I, like (I guess) everybody else, didn't buy or read the book just because of the book. It was more about the message and the cause it supports and a guy named John Oliver.

Wonderful children's book with an important lesson

I remember hearing about this book last year on John Oliver's show and I kept meaning to order it. Then I received a discount offer by email this morning and finally got around to downloading the ebook. I'm very glad I did. The story is a parable, but also a political satire, with a message about tolerance and acceptance. I hope it does some good in promoting acceptance of same-sex marriage, though I have the feeling it will mostly just be read by people who already agree with the message. In any case, the story is charming and funny, and the illustrations are a delight. Also a very quick read!

The PERFECT ANTIDOTE TO PENCE'S AGENDA! And goes to good cause!

This is the antidote to Pence trying to make even more money by putting a book out about his bunny. This is the alternative, where the bunny falls in love with another male bunny and gets married. Several gay couples attend. The message is that you are you and that's ok, even if you're "different". Kid's book or a book for adults who want to counter Pence's agenda. Proceeds go to something LGBTQ related.

Progressive Children’s book

This is my #1 favorite children’s book. The satire is great for adults and the overall message of love conquering hate/acceptance is perfect for children. A loving tail of Mike Pence’s gay bunny finding true love despite the stink bug (Trump) trying to tear him down. I’ve bought this book three times (once from amazon) and will continue to buy whenever a baby shower or birthday pops up.

Such a sweet book with a wonderful message

I'll be honest - I bought this because I think our administration is trash and I thought this was a fun middle finger at all of their hate and hypocrisy. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised that this is one of the sweetest children's books I've ever read! The characters and writing are adorable and the message is everything I'd want for my boys (being different makes us special and love is forever). If I found this book without knowing its origin, I'd still purchase it. Furthermore, my three-year-old loves it and requests it all the time, which means they did a really good job. You can't BS a preschooler - they like what they like.

Our country and the world is very diverse. It is so important to teach our children acceptance, tolerance, patience and empathy for those who aren't just like them. It's important for those who do teach children from a religious aspect of life to teach the truth....Which is GOD IS LOVE. No judgment allowed. My 10 yr old son got a kick out of the book. It helped open up the conversation for what he and his peers are beginning to talk about. This book will sit on my coffee table for all to see and read. Thank You John Oliver for all you do to keep the anchor as close to the ground as possible. Especially given the fact our Titanic country is getting closer and closer to those icebergs. Love Is Love

Awesome book with great message and proceeds go to important non-profits!!!

My family loves Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. We are always discussing the latest episodes over the phone or when we get to hang out. I bought these books as gifts for my brothers and they got a kick out of them. The message in this book is appropriate for any age. It explains things perfectly to children. The proceeds go to amazing non-profits so it is money well spent! The best bonus is that it’s a dig at a homophobic a-hole!!!

Delightful little 'tail' ...

Despite the premise for the writing of this book, a book to rival the 'other' book, it is still a delightful little story.

Wonderful!

The sweetest book, will warm your heart. I bought the audible version along with the Kindle version and can't wait to hear the all-star cast narrate the book. Wonderful!

Thank you John Oliver!

Thank you John Oliver and Jill Twist for this book. Not only are the proceeds going to a great charity, but it is extremely important for Americans to know what would happen if Trump were impeached. I hope this book helps to remind liberals that we need Trump to stay in office until January, 2021.

Religious Zealotry by mike pence & family

This is a great spoof on pence's daughter's book about a day in the life of the vice president as seen through the eyes of their pet rabbit. pence is one of the biggest zealots in public life during out time. I love this book because it stands up for those who zealots forsake...all in the name of god!

Have the audiobook, love it!!! Supports a good cause too!

The audiobook is wonderful. The cast is wonderful and the message is heart warming. Can't wait for tge hardcover to be back in stock!

Love is beautiful

I love John Oliver and what they did with this book. It's a nice, charming story and a great "take that, Mike Pence!" What I don't like about the story is the emphasis on marriage. This is a bigger picture problem that I have overall and not the fault of the book. Kids grow up with this kind of magical idea that marriage as the ultimate achievement in life and the only way you can be happy. I know in this sense though, it eases kids into the idea that people of the same sex can get married and there is nothing wrong with that.

You love who you love, and that's okay

This is a cute little tale of a boy bunny who finds his soulmate in another boy bunny. The book was written by the political satire show, John Oliver's Last Week Tonight on HBO as an alternative to a similar book written by the staunchly anti LGBT Pences, with the profits going to LGBT causes. The VP even makes an appearance in this book, probably not willingly, but I digress. I bought this book for my soon-to-be great granddaughter that will be born into a family with openly gay members, who are loved and adored. This will be her normal, a family where people are loved and accepted for who they are and are free to love who they love.

I love Marlon Bundo

I rented this book from the library and had no idea what it was about. When I started reading it to my kids I was shocked at the content! Being that I was raised by two women who could never marry I loved it! My mom is now married to her wife and this ha been something I’ve been trying to explain to my youngster as ok. Beautifully illustrated! And we love the story so much I had to buy it for our personal collection! I told my best friend about it and she ordered it too!

Every Bunny is Some Bunny Special

Bought this book because proceeds go to the a Trevor project. Love it because it speaks simply and sweetly of the human need for not just tolerance, but acceptance and love. Will be giving it as a gift to children of friends. Took it to work and coworkers have ordered it for themselves and others. BUY THIS BOOK, READ IT, PASS IT ON!

What a great message.

So cute. What a great message.

Brilliant

I will read this story to my children often, because it is important that they grow up believing they can do whatever their heart tells them and that they have, when they are old enough, the right to sculpt their destiny in this free country. To marry who they wish, love often, and vote for freedom and equality.

GREAT BOOK

The illegitimate VP's staff wrote a book about his rabbit, Marlon Bundo, and of course, it was a straight bunny marrying a girl bunny. As boring as the famously intolerant and conversion therapy loving man himself. Enter John Oliver who's team wrote a MUCH better book about a gay bunny who marries a male bunny, and hilarity and some drama ensues. Such a wonderful, book for children and adults to learn tolerance and love for others. I highly recommend. Plus, all book sales go to an LGBTQ anti-defamation charity.

Great message, very cute way to start teaching kids about love being what’s important (above race, sexual preference, or any other discriminatory excuse to belittle anything other that “traditional” opposite sex coupling).... I was watching Last Week Tonight when this book was announced, and my kid (9yo happened to be near by and heard what the book was about, and he requested to please get him not only the Kindle book but the Audible, too.... and he asked me to buy a hardcover for his little cousins (3yo cousin)... My kid looooved the story and thought the message was awesome, because in his own words “anyone can love whoever they wanna love, and nobody should make anyone feel bad about loving someone else”... so there you go, I’m glad I caught the episode where they promoted this book

Absolutely magnificent

This book captures the pure essence of childhood and beautifully wraps it up with realism that today's youth deal with.

Every Bunny knows Love is Love!

I ordered this in March when it was first announced and had to wait until today to finally receive it. But that's ok. I'm glad to know so many people wanted to order it in support of the message and goals. I don't even have kids but I ordered it for myself. I just read it and it made me tear up because it's touching and sweet. We need MORE tolerance and understanding in this world, not less. I applaud John Oliver for using his show and his fame for good like this.

Jim Parsons was a perfect cast for the voice of Marlon

Jim Parsons was a perfect cast for the voice of Marlon. This was a beautiful, wholesome, and heart warming book about love, acceptance, understanding, and inclusion. I played this for the staff in my office who were so truly touched by the message that they purchased the audio book for their kids.Love truly does conquer hate. So glad the profits are going to a great cause.

Makes an excellent gift to friends

It was a long wait to arrive, a month almost, but worth it: it is cute, irreverent of our current political climate, educational and compassionate of our diversity, all at the same time. A bunny who just wants to be allowed to be what he is, without others telling him otherwise. The fact that the sale benefits charity simply puts the icing on the cake of Doing the Right Thing and buying this version of little Marlon's story, versus the alternative story on sale from...other sources. A must buy for today's world! Makes an excellent gift to friends, or young ones who could use the gift of understanding another's view of the world around them and how their acts can affect others.

I sat in quiet while reading this book. I laughed out loud and I held back tears. I’m so happy this book was written you see I have an amazing daughter who is gay and has found the love of her life. They are engaged to be married (thank God it is still legal in my state). I have two other daughters who, when they got engaged to their male partners, my Mom told the world with excitement. She hasn’t told a soul about my gay daughters engagement. So hopefully this book will teach the young whose minds haven’t been tainted that any one who finds love are the luckiest people in the world. And maybe teach a few others

Cute, sweet, funny, and educational!

This popular book was sold out on Amazon so I had to get on a waiting list until it came back in stock, but it was worth it! The art is really pretty and the story is adorable, sweet, funny, and educational! Great for kids and adults, the story features a pair of gay bunnies, gay otters, lesbian cats, and their friends and supporters who use the democratic process to tell the stink bug in charge that he can't disallow their marriage and happiness. I love it! I wish there were a whole line of these books but I know it was originally written to troll the homophobic Mike Pence. lol Maybe some day!

Marlon Bundo finds true love in another male bunny

So cute. I think this book should be required reading for all children. Marlon Bundo finds true love in another male bunny. He’s accepted by his other friends and they stand up for themselves against the Stink Bug who is “in charge” and tells them two boy bunnies can’t be together. Great lessons taught to children including the importance of voting. Also, this book brilliantly trolls The Pence family’s narcissitic similarly titled children’s book.. so really this book is good for anyone. I’m not a child nor do I have one, and this book was purchased for myself. Gave me a smile.

We are in love with this book

How could my review possibly express how much my 2 year old loves this book? If we ever skip a day of reading it, she's definitely quoting it. Seriously, this book is a daily part of our lives for the past 6+ months. Fortunately, it's not at all annoying for adults, and I love that she's learning wholesome lessons about love, inclusivity, and voting. It's a winner all around!

Cute book!

This book is written adorably, and the storyline is a great learning opportunity, but after I ordered it, I didn't know if it would still be relevant by the time my daughter was ready to read a book like this (or have it read to her), so I returned it. I'm sure she would love the bunny rabbit and story, though!

This is definitely the Better Bundo Book!

Finally got this book, took a couple months due to the sheer popularity of it!! I read it as soon as I got it, it is such a cute little book with a great message and some very beautiful illustrations! The characters are adorable and the ending is great!! Would absolutely recommend this to any parent, makes it easy to introduce the concept of same love to your children at a young age. The kids get a great story, and the parents get a nice way to give the proverbial middle finger to Pence and his antiquated homophobic ways. Thank you John Oliver and anyone else who worked hard to bring us this great book, you’ve made your country proud!

Hands Down One of the Best Kids' Books Ever Written

I know this book was thrown together fast to counter the book that Mike Pence wrote, but you would never be able to tell that from reading it. It's a heartwarming story with not only a good message for kids about the importance of accepting others for their differences, but also about the power of voting to get rid of those who really should not be in charge.

like maybe some others

So I, like maybe some others, just purchased this book to help John Oliver & Co. troll our homophobic VP. And, yeah, it felt pretty good to know that profits from the sales would be going to a couple of great charities in the meantime. What I didn’t expect, though, was how adorable and kinda beautiful this little book is. Just all on its own. It’s a sweet and simple little story that will be there to help all the little Marlon Bundos and Wesleys of the present and future know that they are not alone, And that different is special! M

I like that it’s a “screw you” to Mike Pence

I like that it’s a “screw you” to Mike Pence, but honestly I didn’t think it was very well written. To be fair I don’t really read kids books so I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be like this, but it felt flat. More so than what I remember books being from my childhood. 3 stars might be a bit harsh, but as a writer I just want better writing.

Cute story, even cuter illustrations

The story is nice, but the illustrations are perfect for the characters and full of winning charm to make this story lovable, despite the controversial subject matter (for conservatives). A quick read and great way to discuss LGBT issues with youngsters.

Reread this again and it’s still great!!!

Like the title said. I hope the audio version is read by John O. because that’s who I hear in my head every time I read it. It’s a fantastic children’s book that genuinely helps break the cycle of incorrectly learned/taught behaviors/ideals of the previous generations. It’s two stories in one! One for children and are me for adults! And they’re both funny! 😄

Five Stars

A wonderful children's book about the beauty of family and love!

After successfully completing my conversion(shock) therapy sessions with Focus on ...

Absolutely charming book about bunny love. I felt uplifted just by the mere purchase of this special tome.

It finally came!

My book just arrived after the first publication sold out and I couldn't me more pleased. I'm a 28 year old female living in Wisconsin and I have no children. Yet this book still brought a little tear to my eye while also making chuckle- Dill Prickle the hedgehog was EVERYTHING! It warms hesrt to think of this book being a part of child's life... Being read to them at school or by a parent or guardian or reading alone and getting lost in the little details like I remember doing with books when I was young. Yes, the proceeds going towards an amazing organization is wonderful and nothing makes me happier than being part of a massive collective troll of the VP, but thinking of the potential subtle world changing effects this story could have in the future is the best part. Changing the way a child will precieve LGBTQ+ people as they are growing up is huge, and it is high time for that change to come. This book is a perfect example of how we start making that change. In summation, everyone should buy this book! 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend!

Still a top bedtime story months later

Update: we have had this book a few months, and our 5 yo asks to read it regularly. She loves it (as does our 2 yo). Bedtime stories are always up to the kids, and this book is in the regular rotation (still). So glad my kids will grow up with the message that different is ok and that love is love. The story is amazing. It’s meant for children and anyone else who enjoys a heart-lifting tale of two bunnies who fall in love. I could not be happier with this purchase - the proceeds are going to two great charities and the story is solid. Illustrations are great, too.

Have you ever been told you can't love somebunny special? Buy this book!

I bought this book to support a great cause. We vote two ways in America: in the ballot box and with our dollars. Choosing this book was a way of voting with my dollars against the beliefs of all involved with an organization that has plagued me since I was a teen. Against a man who supports that organization. Note that I am a verified purchaser and not someone here to slant the reviews. If you have ever been told that you are not allowed to love somebunny special to you, vote with your dollars and support an amazing organization at the same time by buying this lovely story.

Bring a frown to Mike Pence's face

A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo is an utterly charming children's book about love and acceptance. The illustrations are beautiful, the story is adorable, and the quality of the book is good. I would recommend it for any child or adult growing up in our diverse society. The only complaint I have is that the jacket is made from that soft-finish paper (the kind that feels sort of velvety), which can sometimes deteriorate and start feeling sticky over time. I would have preferred a glossy or heavy matte finish.

A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo - A beautiful rendition of how love triumphs when you don't give up.

A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo is a sweet, well-written children's book that showcases equality, choice, love, and friendship. My kids love the illustrations and the content, and I'm pleased to be able to read it to and with them. Is it political? No, unless you take the issues as inherently political. Does it lampoon the Vice President? Yes, a little, but only on what any politician or public figure should be taken to task for - his/her actual statements and actions. Overall, I'm thrilled with the purchase, and will be giving copies as gifts when I can.

Such suspense

A true hoppily ever after story that will inspire all. Well worth the cost and a great message for all ages.

Quality art, writing, and an inspirational message.

My three year old daughter loves the book, and while she isn't old enough to grasp all the content's deeper meaning she's a big fan of Marlon and likes the beautiful illustrations. We enjoy reading it and doing the voices for the many animals. I love the messages of acceptance and tolerance in this book. There's also the passive aggressive slights toward Mike Pence that give me a chuckle. Not a fan of his. I think it's a great read for kids and parents alike, especially if you want to teach your kids about accepting and loving others for who they are.

Beautifully illustrated and such a sweet funny story about love

I, like most people probably, ordered this immediately after seeing the episode of Last Week Tonight. BIG (YUGE) FAN! I got the physical book, kindle version AND audible because my family loves Jim Parsons and all the other voices. Love that it sort of, kind of, ya know, digs at our current (crazy af) administration but that it’s also a beautiful story of acceptance and love. Showed it to my 15 year old daughter, she immediately read the whole thing out loud, cracked up the whole time, and now it’s hers apparently. Should’ve ordered two! I probably will.

Fantastic Book for all ages.

I wish Amazon wouldn't have packaged this unwrapped in a box with the soil I purchased but that doesn't affect the quality of this story. This book was purchased for myself and truthfully brought tears to my eyes. This book is beautifully written with a message important for children AND ADULTS to understand. Well done.

Wanted more story less trolling

Like the overall message and cause the money is going to. Could do with fewer Mike Pence insults, wish they would have focused more on telling their story and less on ripping some guy everyone already knows is a tool.

Adorable book.

I'll be honest I got this book mainly to thumb it at our current joke of an administration. While America is far FAAAAAR from perfect, I've never been this ashamed to be an American. After getting this book I realized that it was more than giving a finger to the extreme Right people in office like Pence and others. It's a sweet story. My partner and I don't and likely never will have kids (adopt of course) but this sits on our coffee table and is a fun conversation piece. It takes like 2 minutes for an adult to read and is just adorable and yes you can absolutely read this to your kids.

Wholesome book that teaches acceptance and support of one another.

Ahhh yes, I have been waiting for my book after it was SOLD OUT for so long. It is a very simple read (maybe 10 minutes at max if you appreciate the art a bit more). The message is very simple and put in a way that anyone, even a child, can understand. We build so many biases and stigmas through the institutions we go through from children to adults, that we fail to realize that different is not bad. People need to learn to become more accepting of one another especially for who we love. LOVE IS LOVE. I support that over any bigot or ignorant bible belt thinker telling me I can't love who I love.

Don't be a stink bug!

This is the best book ever, if for no other reason than it probably irritates the right people! Aside from that, it's beautifully illustrated and a beautiful story that promotes tolerance, inclusion, and just letting people -- and rabbits -- live their lives. Don't be a dang stink bug! And for anyone wondering, it is actually written like a children's book -- there's nothing in it that should freak out or scare kids. In fact, I think it's a great way to bring up the discussion about homosexuality so that your child grows up understanding things instead of fearing them.

John Oliver Rocks

The whole idea of people disagreeing with other people on this book.. if you watch the show John Oliver, he's not hating on the kids or what the vice president books about, hes hating on the vice president for being too anti-gay and other issues.. I personally am not gay, but i don't hate on people being gay either.. and i just love John Oliver Show, about the only reason i like HBO now days.. So when he had this topic on the show and how he hoped this would out sell his book, and the fact his books money supposedly goes to charity, I had to buy one too..

If you have no children to buy for, the book makes a great contribution to local libraries.

Purchased this adorable book wishing to contribute to the LGBTQ fundraiser. (Whom am I kidding? I wanted the book to outsell Pence 10 to 1!) Enjoyed the sweet story of innocent love and then donated the book to the local library. I have the sneaking suspicion the librarian thought this was the similarly titled Pence book, but no matter! It shall grace the shelves of our little town library and children will enjoy it as much as we did.

Better Bundo Book!

I had to wait a few weeks, but we finally got our Better Bundo Book. Happy to support Last Week Tonight and the charities that were appropriately selected. Once again John Oliver (and his team) creates satire that effectively becomes representation of what the majority of Americans find relatable. He and his show both educate and entertain and this book accomplishes both as well. Read with my teenage boys (who are also big fans of the show). Will save the book for my grandchildren and hopefully the world will be a better place when they arrive (hopefully) in the future. Cheers!

Wonderful book for the whole family!

I bought this book and immediately took it over to my dads house and read it to them. They both really enjoyed the book, after being together for 22 years it was awesome to see their reactions to a book like this and its positive reaffirming message. I also had my sister read this to my niece, it really is a wonderful kids book. The illustrations are amazing and the writing was great. THANK YOU to the John Oliver team for getting this done in the amazing speed that you did. Bravo to everyone for bringing this to our lives! ♥

This is the better bunny book.

A refreshing and unencumbered glimpse into the discovery of love, and the barriers that can stand in its way. A very easy children's book to love.

An Adorable Little Read

Books like this are so important for children and adults alike. I'm still rolling my eyes at the people who bash this book, because they're probably just a Stink Bug too. Books like these are the ones who save the life of someone who feels a little different. It's a fantastic and funny read. 12/10. Would read again. I'd write something much funnier with whit, but honestly, I just want people to read and support this book.
