WARNING!!

I bought this set for my 10 year old granddaughter and the smut was sickening. They Talks about Playboy, watching his mother have sex with men and so much more. If you want your little girl to maintain her innocence don't purchase these for her

Not what I expected.

Although my 9 year old loves this series, I think some of the content is not appropriate for young readers (stuffing bras, menstruation, etc). Wish I had knows these were going to be topics in the book as I wasn’t quite ready to answer all the questions my daughter had.

Judy Blume is timeless

I bought this as a gift for my daughter for Christmas. She typically avoids books that I recommend (arghh!!!), but I laid "Are you there God, its Me Margaret" on her bed as she was settling down for the night. The next morning she said that she read the book all the way through and was heartbroken that there wasn't a sequel. She LOVED it (capitals are hers.) Judy Blume's books are timeless. I highly recommend this set for tween girls.

You will have to try and skip over the period talk if you are reading this with your second grader

Yeah we handled a lot more intense s@&t when we were kids. Probably a little much for my seven year old. Periods, wearing bras, teachers inappropriately staring at early maturing students, and racial hate crimes are just some of the topics found in this book series.

Kid Approved

Bought this set for my 10 year old daughter. She read them all in about a week! And not skimmed... Actually read them so that she retold the stories to me in detail. She loved them. And that from a kid who used to loath reading anything. Judy Blume is a classic.

reliving my youth

set up a free little library at my house to help the local kids who are stuck inside with COVID-19, virtual school & a snowy winter in NJ. was so excited to see Judy Blume is still around. I loved her books in the 1970's when I grew up & was excited to help other little girls discover her books

Judy Blume gets what it is to be an adolescent

Judy Blume has a knack for weaving tales that address the angst and joys of being an adolescent in a credible and engaging manner. I've been a long-time fan and now my tween has discovered the joys of reading Blume's adolescent novels. This boxed set contains the following novels Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret Blubber Deenie Iggie’s House It’s Not the End of the World Then Again, Maybe I Won’t Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself All of the stories portray protagonists that deal with issues such as the pangs of adolescence, family troubles, and more. Tweens and teens will easily relate to these stories, and the writing is accessible, as the author writes in a fluid and engaging manner. There may be some profanity in the stories, but relevant within the context so I would advise parents be forewarned about this. Other than that, I would recommend these novels to Grades 5 and up.

This collection makes a perfect gift for young readers

I bought these for my niece. I babysit a lot and we enjoy storytime at bed time. Both my niece and nephew loved these stories. Reading these to them also brought back memories of when I read them in my childhood. These stories, although written decays ago, are still relatable today on issues such as bullying, and tolerance. This collection makes a perfect gift for young readers.

Right to passage for every tween

Bought this for my daughter and took a trip down memory lane! Great for picky readers- nice variety- still very applicable for tweens.

EXCELLENT BLUME SELECTIONS

Excellent selection of Blume books for the right young mind. Real, raw, endearing, empowering. Got the set for my 12 year old niece. She's gonna love it.

5 stars all the way!

I ordered these books to continue my introduction of some of my favorite childrens books to my eight year old daughter and in true fashion Judy Blume did not disappoint my daughter and i are reading these together it is our favorite time of day... 5 stars all the way!

Missing book

Well this was a gift for my daughter’s birthday and it was opened after the return window closed, but as you can see here, the unopened box set includes 2 of the same books, and is missing another altogether.

Great Conversation Starters To Talk To Preteens

My granddaughter is hooked on these books. Pre-teen that resonates with this age group on their level and opens the door for conversations. I read some of these books when I was once this age so many years ago. Brings back fond memories of my youth.

Keeps children reading

No school-no problem- my granddaughter loves to read.

Love Judy Blume

Every tween needs to read all Judy Blunes books! Introducing it to my youngest daughter !

my daughter love them!

bought them for 2019 Christmas gift for my daughter and she has read two of them and she loves the stories, I need to start ready them too

Hmm.😁

Niece.😃😊

Beautiful gift set!

Great set to get girls reading. Nice gift set too. Such wonderful books!!

Love these books

This was a great purchase.

Too mature for my 8yr old, middle school age themes

The books themselves were well made and set is cute. My issues is that Chapter one of the first book I started reading with my daughter, talks about Playboys and “naked chicks”, and her brother’s friends trying to see under her towel. I’m afraid I do not find this appropriate for my 8year old. Sorry.

Always a winner!

What can I say?? Judy Blume. Perfection. Read her when I was a kid, my kid read her, now my grandkids read her.

Great collection

Great collection for preteen girls. My daughter lovef all of them.

because I loved Judy Blume books when I was a young girl

I bought these for my daughter, because I loved Judy Blume books when I was a young girl. Real life problems that kids are faced with on a daily basis.

These books are still a hit!

I loved these books as a child and got them for my daughter for her birthday. She loves them too!

Five Stars

Bought these for my daughter at a great price!

but I love the idea of packaging these books together

Bought this as a gift for my 11-year-old goddaughter. Haven't given it to her yet, but I love the idea of packaging these books together!

Great!

Classic, quality middle school books by Judy Blume.

Now what?

My 11 year old daughter TORE through these. She has never been an avid reader, but LOVED these books, averaging one book per day. Now what next? How can any other books live up to these? Will anything ever compare?? (recommendations?)

The Essentials

Purchased the set for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves it.

Less expensive elsewhere

I loved Judy Blume as a kid so bought these for my 10 year old daughter’s birthday. The set is great and she loved them. Giving one star because I paid approx $50 for this set and then saw the same thing at Costco a few weeks later for $15. Now that’s disappointing.

I read every Judy Blume book that was available to ...

I read every Judy Blume book that was available to me as a pre-teen and early teenager, now I am reading them with my daughter. They hold up. I have to explain some pop culture references and things that she has no frame of reference for, but for the most part, they hold up. It's such a treat to read them with my daughter. I read mine by myself, but this is really special and has been such a bonding experience. Thank you, Judy Blume! She really has a talent for helping kids deal with complex issues and emotions in a real and helpful way.

Judy Blume!!!

I’m passing these classics on to my 11 year old daughter!!!

Judy Blume is a must have for kids coming of age

I bought this for my daughter for christmas. She's 12. I grew up with Judy Blume and it was great to get a box set instead of having to purchase each book separately. She loves the books.

My daughter loves them as much as I did!

Omg the books from my childhood are back and my 9.5 year old is zooming through them. The topics are mature and helpful to her in her growing up journey. She loves them!

Well known author.

Enjoyed these books as a child. Have heard no response from recipient.

Good buy

My mom loved it!

Great book

Great books for that middle school age girl.

Judy Blume hits it on the head!!

the questions that young people struggle with are presented in these books. Good clear answers and some deep thinking is presented to the reader. Well worth investing in these books for a beloved child or grandchild.

This is a wonderful set of books for the pre-adolescent girl. I bought them for my mature 9 year old granddaughter for Christmas. We enjoy reading books together and discussing them as we read them. Can't go wrong with Judy Blume. Perfect for 9-12 yo girl

Great books for a great price. I loved these books as a kid. Now to convince my daughter to read them. She is less than enthused because she thinks of Judy Blume as a young kids writer. She has read all the Fudge books, Pain and the Great One. I want her to discover them....

I don’t have to make my daughter read theses books ...

I don’t have to make my daughter read theses books. That’s very exciting to me. Getting her to read on her own was a struggle.

Everything you need to know about growing up!

Judy Blume has been a staple author for me through my preteen years, and even as a teenager and now adult, I still like to reread them. Even though some of them are nearly fifty years old now, the writing style and issues are still around today. The characters are normal characters leading normal lives, and the things they deal with are still dealt with today. Here are my opinions on each book: Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret: An easy and entertaining read about a sixth-grade girl growing up. This book was released in 1970, and was banned in some schools for its talk of bras and periods. Nowadays, eleven and twelve-year-old girls need this kind of book. It is an essential book for girls who are just starting to wear bras and are about to get their periods. Margaret is very real, and has the same worries every girl has at their age. Is she normal? Will she be the last of her friends to get her period? When will she grow enough to get something bigger than a training bra? I was eleven or twelve when I read this, and I'd had many of the same issues Margaret dwells on. Definitely a must-have book. Blubber: If you've ever been bullied, you NEED to read this. After a rather overweight girl reads out a speech on whales and talks about their blubber, everyone starts making fun of her and calling her Blubber. She's not even that overweight compared to some others in her grade, but the other kids say she deserves it, because she doesn't know how to stand up for herself in a way that would make the kids respect her. This book was also banned for the destructive and almost terrifying bullying done by the class, including forcibly undressing her, making her physically sick, and making her say things about how she was a whale before she could use the bathroom or the drinking fountain, and no one does anything about it, nor is the leader punished. It's a harsh slice of real life, and every kid, boy or girl, needs to read this, because it really shows the damage that bullying can do, and why it's so wrong. I was glued to this book when I was about eleven, and even now, I sometimes almost cry when I read some scenes. Deenie: This book is all about self-image. Any child who's had expectations or pressure, or has felt insecure, will relate to Deenie and her dilemma. Her mother expects her to become a model, and berates her for walking strangely. It turns out that Deenie has a back condition that means she needs to wear a Milwaukee brace until she's sixteen. Her mother, by the way, takes this news awfully, making it much harder on Deenie than it needs to be, while she tries to take it more maturely. Anyone who's ever been worried about how people see them, or have been scared to defy expectations of them, will identify with Deenie. This was banned from some schools for an open explanation about masturbation, but as it is, it's a very important thing to learn about while growing up, and while it may be embarrassing to read about, most girls who have ever done that will appreciate knowing that it's safe and normal. Iggie's House: This is one of the more outdated books. Winnie's best friend Iggie moves away, and an African-American family moves in, the first black family on the block. Winnie befriends them, but one family starts up a petition to force them to move away. It's a very accurate portrayal of racism around the 70s and 80s, when Black Civil Rights was in motion, and Black Pride was in full swing (They requested that they be referred to as black, rather than coloured or Negro). It's not as accurate to a child who wasn't growing up at the time, but it's educational and very interesting, learning about American society at the time, and how hard it was for some people to accept equality, which if I remember correctly, is a constitutional right. Forgive me if I'm wrong - I don't live in America. It's Not The End Of The World: While the ins and outs of divorce have changed since this book was released, the feelings and reactions of parents and children alike have not changed. Anyone who's been through a divorce in their family has probably gone through many of the same feelings and hopes that Karen experiences in this book. Hope that something can get her parents back together, hopelessness because nothing will ever get them back together, tension because her family is out of control and there's nothing she can do about it...I'm not part of a divorced family, but I had a lot of friends who were when I was young, and all of them had to go through these difficulties and try to cope. But just as Karen realizes at the end of the book, one divorce doesn't end the world - there are still good things to look forward to. Then Again, Maybe I Won't: This is the only book about a boy, and to be honest, I've read it twice, and I don't remember much about it. That's not a good sign. I can't give it a full review at this point. Starring Sally J Freedman As Herself: This is about a young girl growing up in the late 1940s, after World War II. She has a big imagination and uses it to daydream herself to fame and fortune. However, she has a fear that the German warmonger is still alive. It's more historical fiction than most of Blume's books, but I think it's still worth a read. The first few pages are a bit boring, but if you get past that, it's a wonderfully written and touching story. I recommend all of these books highly, especially for a child who's in their preteens or early teen years. There is nothing too mature in these books (the closest it comes to is the masturbation scenes in Deenie, which are very short and vague anyway).

Not for ages 8-12 as marked!

My 12 year old is a reader. She loves books. We loved Fudge... this is not like the Fudge set. My daughter refused to read any of the books after the first ones she picked out had teen girls uncomfortably bathing together at a sleepover and a boy who watches someone undress. This content is not for 8-12 year olds in our opinion.

Inappropriate topics for younger readers

My daughter is 9 and I found the topics in these books very inappropriate for her age. Talks of girls getting their first period and masturbation. Parents, read first to see if your kids are ready for these serious conversations.

Judy Blume books

This was a birthday Gift. My granddaughter loves Judy Blume, And as a retired teacher I had the pleasure of reading quite a few of Judy’s books to recommend to my students. I too loved and enjoyed each book. I would recommend this to any parent or teacher from grades three and up.

Great Series!

One day I didn't have anything to read and my mom told me to me to read this series because she said they were great and she read them at my age. The first book I read was Are You There God it's me Margaret?. I loved it! I did read them pretty quick though it took me about one to two days on most of the books but I couldn't help it!

Four Stars

I really like these books! Great read anytime.

Awesome

It is so awesome!!! I wish the book Freckle Juice was in there too!!! You have to buy this!!!😀😍

Has profanity

The book Blubber that's in here has profanity. Unnecessary and uncalled for now I have to look through the other books in the set.

What a bargain!

Bought it for my niece...gonna reread them first tho!

Incorrect order delivered!!

Check your order!!!!! As you can see in the photo the box set we received is incorrect. There are 2 of the same books so therefore 1 of the collection is missing! I bought these books for my daughter for Christmas and she has just opened them. So unfortunately I am now out of time to return so now out of pocket and my daughter unable to complete the set!! Really disappointing 😡

I actually re-read these myself!!!!

A nostalgic buy for my 10 year old. I used to read these books as a child and I loved them! Perfect for her age - covers so many topics of teenage angst. Christmas gift which she loved!
