Devotions are so touching for anyone, I recently lost my husband and they give me so much comfort, I have sent one to my sister that has lost her husband also. I also sent one to a friend that is going through chemo. Sarah Young is a wonderful author.

This devotional is exactly what I need daily. I am on my second pass through the 50 devotionals and each day I get filled with comfort and peace; exactly what I need on a daily basis. Each day I get a golden nugget of God's desire to give me comfort as I go through a very difficult time in my life.

Each day that I read a devotion it was for me. This is a must read for so many retirees that are busy and need time to look at what God has done for us and through us. Thanks again for this devotion.

Sarah Young and Thomas Nelson know their teenage audience. The back cover of Jesus Calling for Teens: 50 Devotions for Busy Days states: “You’re running around like crazy. You’ve got practice, school, homework, friends, parents’ expectations, and so much more. How will you ever get it all done?” This sounds like the mantra so many high schoolers chant. The feel of the book itself also screams teenager. It is small, thin, and sturdy. Digestible. Easily slipped into a binder or backpack. Once inside, the appropriateness continues. In the Introduction, Young quells the world’s ideal of “busy is better.” And she reminds her readers, as she does in her other books, that these devotions are best read slowly. In a quiet spot. With Bible open. The 50 devotions are simple: A title, a 1/2 page of text, and a verse or two to read. I like that the verses aren’t written out because that nudges the readers to open their Bibles and explore the verses for themselves. Of course they could just read the devotional and not the verses, but doing so would leave a nagging feeling of unfinished business. On the page opposite the devotional is another verse, written out, and illustrated with a vibrant design. The whole book is color—another attractive feature for teenagers, or any reader for that matter. The devotions themselves, written as though Jesus is speaking directly to the reader, are powerful. Calming. Direct. Assuring. Each devotion points to Jesus as the Life Giver, the Fulfiller, the Answer. They remind readers that Jesus is enough, and that, in fact, He is everything. Jesus invites the teenage readers to find solace in Him. Upon first glance the book appears slightly feminine, but upon opening it could definitely be an appropriate gift for both genders. Teens today are busy, homework after school programs and I am sure chores they do at home. This pocket-sized devotional is a wonderful way for teens to grab those few moments with God. Sarah has written this devotional just as if Jesus were speaking to your teen. “The devotions in this book are meant to be read slowly, preferably in a quiet place-with your Bible open”. I have Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, and I really enjoy her devotions in it, so I believe your teen will enjoy reading this devotional written specifically for the busy teens in today’s world. I looooove the Jesus Calling devotionals. I may have more than two…or more than three…Okay, so I have four different ones. And I love them all. I was very excited to see this one come available for review, because who doesn’t need comfort from Jesus? I love how these devotionals are written, as Jesus speaking to us. It feels very personal, and I definitely believe that the Lord uses them. There have been so many times where I am feeling low or discouraged, etc. and open to a devotional page and it’s exactly what I needed to hear. In this one, they are the devos selected from the bigger one, Jesus Calling, so I have read them before, but many seem like reading them new, and they do share immense comfort. And the artwork! Oh my. I wasn’t expecting that, but each devotional page has a piece of art on the other side with a verse scripted across it, and then also some pages in between devotionals with Bible verses elegantly scripted across a lovely scene. It really is beautiful, and so peaceful and calming. So yes, I definitely recommend this devotional, as well as the other Jesus Calling devotionals!

I love how fast and easy this devotional is but even with how quickly you can read it there is always a good lesson to think and apply to your life. For busy teens, this might be a great go-to for them to still get some word fo God in their busy lives and make it a priority. I like that this devotional is small... I mean compare it to their phone and its pretty close in the same size. Having anyone dig into this book and apply the lessons will help your walk with God. I have reviewed more of Sarah Young's work and I continue to enjoy her work! This book is great for any tween or teen or even busy mom or dad! No matter how busy we may be we can always find enough time to spend with God and that is the biggest discussion I had with my daughter when we read this one!

Though I haven't read the original Jesus Calling, I enjoyed this one tremendously. I like how it is easy to read the devotions at any point in the day. They are short and to the point, giving teens something to think on in the midst of the busy schedules. This is a gorgeous, colorful little book that can be bought for oneself or makes a wonderful gift. I received this book from Booklook.
