More pamphlet than book

- Book is very short and light on content. Less than 80 pages long, with lots of blank or mostly empty pages throughout - Poorly edited--there are typos and other mistakes. Feels like something put together by a PE teacher in 1990's. - Several things it asks you to do in the drills are not either explained well or not explained at all (e.g. pendulum dribble) - Promises a 21 day plan, but its a 7 day plan repeated 3 times. And two of the days are rest, and 1 is just a timed mile run. So that leaves 4 days with significant workouts, and those 4 workouts consist of the same 11 drills in the same order, with a different set of a few conditioning exercises at beginning. It is underwhelming and repetitive. Again, seems like the work of an uninspiring PE teacher. - Everything can be done on your own, which is nice. But this also means passing drills are simply throwing the ball against a wall which will not turn you into Nikola Jokic. - Besides being repetitive, workouts are sequenced poorly. One example: Only free throw drill is shooting 25 free throws in a row. Why not break up free throws into sets of five in between other drills, giving you more chance to practice making these shots when tired? Overall, this is not a good book and I don't recommend it. I give it two stars because if you do follow the program in this book, you may well be a better basketball player 21 days later as it will have you doing a lot of dribbling, shooting and running drills for 15 days. But it will be repetitive. And you could probably get a lot more benefit from following a better regime than this one.

How to improve your basketball skills in 21 day? I think so!

Back when I was playing high school basketball, my friend and I were obsessed with dunking the ball. It consumed every moment of our existence, and we did everything we could to increase our vertical jump. It was a bit one-sided, because we should have spent time on improving other skills as well. I recently bought this book about basketball skills and how to improve them to share with my son. He is walking down the same path his father did, becoming obsessed with one aspect of the game rather than trying to become a well-rounded player. I hope to have this book show him the path to take. After reading this book I am impressed with the amount of good information in it. It talks about so many things related to to basketball and the skills a player needs to work on. In addition to basketball skills, the book also delves into exercise routines and ways to increase all aspects of a player's game. I heartily recommend this book. The links to videos on YouTube that help to illustrate topics of discussion are a nice touch. Michael Jordan is mentioned a lot in this book, but if I had to hear about one player a lot, he would be my choice. I hope that my son eventually "sees the light" and realizes that dunking a basketball is not the be-all end-all when it comes to basketball. This book may help him see that and work on the other aspects of his basketball game.

Highly recommended for basketball skills, great value.

How to be better at basketball in 21 days is not your average sports training book. It is all-inclusive with modules of drills and exercises and stories of inspiration from world-class players. The author also makes sure to emphasize the importance mental preparation during these drills with a whole section just on that. The diagrams are very helpful for me as a visual learner and form a key part of the training found in this book. I have never been that good a player, so I picked out this book to get some hints and tricks. I highly recommend this, and look forward to trying some of these new basketball skills (like the jab fake, rip through drive) out the next time I’m at the gym. It is hard to find a better value than what is in this book whether you are a beginner like me or want to be a professional basketball player.

The Coaching That I Wish I Had in High School

I am joining a city recreation department men’s basketball league this fall. I haven’t played competitive basketball since high school (a very long time ). I was looking for some sort of structured program to help me get back into playing shape. I came across this book and thought it was pretty inexpensive and worth a try. The book was much better than expected. The author not only provides detailed written descriptions of fundamentals and techniques there are also links to demonstration videos which reinforces the information. There are also good suggestions on mental preparation for competition which will be helpful in your life outside of sports as well. The thing that I like best about the book is 21 day training program. The program lays out different drills and exercises for each day. I think this would be a great work out for any athlete, regardless of their sport, who wants to improve their strength, quickness, conditioning, hand-eye coordination, etc...

BIRTHDAY GIFT

Gave this book to my nephew for his 10th birthday. He loves playing basketball, and has told me that reading this book has helped him improve his basketball skills. He thanked me for giving it to him, and said he's so glad I thought to buy it for him.

Clear and direct

A book aimed to basketball players, especially suitable for the youngest, who wish to acquire good habits to improve not only in skills but also in attitudes. Easy and concise reading. With examples of the best professional players. Fully recommended for players and even coaches.

A Basketball Bible!

I must admit that this book “How to Be Better At Basketball in 21 Days” is very well organised and detailed guide for anyone who is interested in basketball and want to improve their game. The book will teach you a lot of things. From how to get in shape and control your focus to bettering your shooting and defensive skills. The 21-day program is a great chapter to read. Very detailed plan that will help you develop and improve your speed, strength, balance and overall basketball skills. You will also find a lot of pictures and diagrams that really help in the process of learning. But what impressed me the most was the concepts of visualization and mental attitude. I believe that the key quality a person needs for success in life, and on the basketball court, is a proper mental attitude . In basketball and in any other sport performace is vital. The conditioning and mental instructions in this book are both well worth the price. I have been playing basketball for high school and university team and I have never been lucky to get this kind of information, no time was given to the mental side of the game which in reality is very important. So I think a high school player who is really serious about developing their game would get a lot out of this book.

Solid advice

As someone who grew up around competitive basketball and has been away from the game for a while, this book helped me get my children started. This book isn’t comprehensive but it is solid and well put together.

Not a Great Read

So this book is not thorough at all. It touches on the basics and expects the reader understands basketball. Since I have played my whole life, I had done most of these drills and I understand it. If you are new to the sport then do not buy this, waste of money.

A good book to help you take your game to the next level.

"How to Be Better At Basketball in 21 days - The Ultimate Guide to Drastically Improving Your Basketball Shooting, Passing and Dribbling Skills" This is a good book for review and developing fundamentals with your game. Showing many ways to improve your game in a very short time or even better over time if you stick with the ideas presented here. Give it a read i recommend it as a whole. The 21 day training plan and illustrated workouts come in handy making it easier for your training regement. This should be able to assist you in honing skills in the fundementals of the game and being able to gain traction quickly seeing results in points on the board and being a more competitive player.

Good book. Maybe even less than 21 days

Good book that IMHO successfully explains a great deal about how to be good at basketball. I am glad I bought it for my middle school kids.

Great place to start

Excellent place to start if you are not too familiar with the fundamentals. The drills, exercise program, and review of the basics was very useful for me as an adult who enjoys playing pickup basketball. This can also be very useful for kids and high school basketball players. I found it lacking in foot work, pivoting, and defensive methods. Good tips for coaches as well.

It was appreciated.

My Grandson loved it and will read it several times, and then pass it on to a friend. Papa scored again.

From my 10-year old son: "This is a superb book it really helped me excel from the rough position I was in when I played basketball now I know what to practice everyday and will soon be trying out for a travel basketball team and I know what to do in games thanks to this fantastic book.😀"

A useful book full of good information for ball players who want to improve.

Love this paper version and I like the audible version as well. Lots of good tips in this book.

A great book for insight about improvement

I thought the book was well laid out and since I am already working with my sons it is providing a great resource to grow together.

A Very Thorough Basketball Guide!

I don’t often buy ‘help’ books, though I am glad I did this one. It’s structured well enough for me to navigate through easily, and the content inside has been of great help to both my basketball knowledge and technique. The 21 day training plan, as well as the workouts, were of particular help. I would highly recommend this book to any who consider themselves basketball players!

Fantastic Book for Improving Basketball Skills

This book has something in it for every level of skill. The links to the YouTube videos helped me to further understand how and why I'm doing the drills throughout the 21 day period. I've seen a great improvement in my dribbling and understanding of defense.

Get Moving!

My boys (ages 11 & 7) spend less time on technology and now challenge each other using the techniques they have learned. Great way to encourage reading.

nice book that relates to most ofthe basics

nice book that relates to most ofthe basics; however it's at times too general, barely helpful in actual step-by-step improvement, and just suffices with giving one illustation that you're left to figure out yourself and self-improve

All around great book.

Everything any basketball player that wants to improve needs to read. This will help any player at any level of play.

Not for kids.

Son never read. It think it's too heady for kids.

Pretty lame. Just the basics. Doubt anyone improves form this

This book seems very basic. Many other books are better. Maybe the others ones can get you better in 2 days

Best Basketball Book I Have Read

This book is the best Basketball book I have read on how to become a better basketball player. The subjects it covers are exactly what I need to improve my game. The book covered such things as ball handling and dribbling, shooting, passing, and drills that will make any basketball player a better player. One of the creative aspects of the book is its links to YouTube. These links show you exactly what the author is writing about. We not only get to read about the exercises (such as continuous circles around the head, waist, and legs) but we also get to see the drill as a player goes through them. The book even covers such things as attitude and mental preparations. This is something I’ve not seen in other training manuals. At the end of the book, after describing all of the drills and exercises to us, the author provides a twenty-one day program using the drills and exercises he covers in the book, giving us a clear program for making us better basketball players. Coach Wilson’s writing made me feel as if he was sitting right next to me, urging and encouraging me to commit to the program he presents and letting me know that I can do it. If I had had a coach like him in high school, I could have done much better than I did.

An easy read and some useful things

Not that informative real basic. An easy read and some useful things.

Should be on the desk of every Basketball Coach!

While this book was obviously written for those that wish to train for basketball, the book could apply to any sport that requires mental and physical training and preparedness. Wish I had access to this book when I was back in high school, maybe I'd be playing in the NBA today! If basketball is your game, you owe it to yourself to read this book and apply the principles provided.

Good Advice For Developing a Training Regimen

If you’re like me, you’re very tall and awkward and a bit on the clumsy side, but for some reason, people still think you must be good at basketball. But it takes much more than height to be a good basketball player. Haven’t you ever heard of Mugsy Bogues? I recall reading somewhere that it takes “21 days to develop a habit.” I am not sure if this is true, but it seems reasonable to me. This book won’t make you a pro-basketball player in 21 days. Nothing can do that – mastering any skill, basketball or otherwise, takes years of dedication and focus. What this book offers instead is a 21 day plan of training that can be repeated over and over and will help the aspiring basketball player develop one of the most important traits towards their goal – developing a habit of constant, effective training. It addresses many other important things for the developing basketball player that often get ignored such as strength training. But James Wilson, the author, offers the reader the correct approach to strength training. It is written in a straight forward, easy to understand style with probably more pictures and more useful pictures than I’ve seen in any Kindle book before. Overall, if I were ten years younger and inclined towards a career in basketball, this book would be on the top of my list. The training program developed is clearly draw from years of experience in teaching athletes to be their best and even if you’re not interested in basketball, you can still learn something about your own training regimen from this book.

Excellent tool for basketball players and coaches.

“How to Be Better At Basketball in 21 Days” is a very well laid-out manual for any youngster looking to get into the sport or any player wanting to up their game. Most sports self-help and training books tend to be filled with motivational fluff, but author and coach James Wilson pretty much cuts to the chase and gets to the heart of the basketball skills required to improve your performance on the court. I’m always interested in the science and physiology of sports training, and Wilson provides enough science regarding form and power to educate without loading down the reader with overwhelming technical data. The book illustrates the fundamentals in an impressively clear way, and Wilson’s instructional narrative voice is easy to follow. Fascinating detail on the hows and whys of good form that just clicks as soon as you read it. The 21-day training plan is well detailed and includes a great balance of strength, speed, and kinetic improvement with appropriate flexibility training and recovery time.

Totally Amazing

This book showed me how to get in shape and make your shooting accurate and your definsive skills and much more! This is an amazing and helpful book for starters of the game· Thank you for making this cool book!

An Excellent, Practical Guide

What most impressed me about this book is how direct and to the point it is. There is humour and a nice conversational style which makes it easy to read, but basically it's full of interesting and, more importantly, useful information and tips. Some of the concepts I was already aware of, such as the importance of sport psychology (even the application of visualisation and the law of attraction), and also technicalities such as the triple threat position and boxing out. The great thing about this book is that it simply explains what you need to know about them and then moves onto other issues or more detailed explanations where necessary. This is really useful to me as I can easily learn from this kind of writing, and quickly! This book is full of pictures, diagrams, and also appropriate links to youtube examples, which I recommend you take full advantage of. To get the most out of this book, I decided to read it once through, and then go through it again more carefully to implement the techniques. In particular, the inclusion of the drills and exercises, and how to use them within the 21-day program, makes the book even more worth reading. This kind of practical guide is priceless to me, as I need to get on with it and not just read about the subject. Of course, you do have to engage with the book and follow the program, as well as take the advice that's given. I've started and am already seeing the benefits. If you're really interested in learning about and making progress in this subject then just go ahead and try it. You'll be glad you did!

Perfect for basketball players

Lots of interesting information and good ideas with workout plans for each day

OK Book with Links

This is an ebook that has some nice links to videos to explain the information provided. Could have used a better editor and format though.

I really like the fact that this information made me more focused ...

I really like the fact that this information made me more focused in my training sessions. The drills for strength, warm up and injury prevention are very important in any sport, especially a demanding one like basketball. The 21-day training plan is so easy to follow because everything is logically explained and illustrated.

Great tips

Easy to follow. Great tips. I like that there is a link to a video to see how to do what is being explained.

A quick and fun read about basketball

A very quick and fun read to help with coaches wanting to improve their players. I really enjoyed this book

Must read for beginners and their parents.

Excellent book for beginners. Touches on all the attributes to become a player. Conditioning ,stretching. There is no one topic that the author did not touch on. If an individual wants to become a player, this is a must read.

Great book

Outstanding book

The BEST

This book is the best. If you want to get better at basketball get this book. I highly recommend it.

helpful hints

grandson said he could see a couple of the hints right off that would help

Excellent book

Excellent book on the subject of basketball. It covers almost everything, from fundamentals to shooting techniques and passing and all is very well illustrated. It has some video links to support each exercise, pity some of the links do not work. But overall I am very impressed with the quality of the book and the number of topics it goes through in detail. The 21-Day Program is a real deal and easy to follow – hope I’ll get my basketball skills improved with the help of this book. Highly recommended

Great read

To be honest, I've always been a bit jealous of those who can play basketball with such poise. As a result I too would pick up a basketball and try and emulate what the players I saw do, but I couldn't even get close. But I still wanted to get better. Then I came across this book and I have to say it’s a game changer. It helps not only with shooting and other important skills but it talks a lot about the non-physical part of the game which I think really helped. It is also so great that this book is full of pictures and video links so it’s very interactive and a 21 day workout plan helps you to get a good workout for the strength you need for a good game.

Good for beginners

I wanted to teach my grandson basketball and to use some simple book for biginners. This one is o.k. but I can say that some 50 years ago were better books for beginners of basketball.
