“Amazing hockey love story. I am addicted to this series.” – 5 star amazon review

~

He’s a professional hockey player trying to survive on his new team. I’m just trying to survive.

I’m down to my last dollar.
I live day-to-day in a world that doesn’t care.
Despite my bad luck, I’m a fighter.
I never give up. I never stop trying.

Ryan Parker's wealth and generosity, sets him apart from anyone I know.
Yet, I don’t trust him.
It’s nothing personal. I trust no one.

But when my bad luck takes a turn for the worse, one person shows up.
Ryan Parker.

I do not understand why he bothered because the guy has enough of his own issues to deal with.
But I don’t have a choice.
I need him. It’s a matter of survival.

His friendship changed everything.
It changed me.
I started to believe in myself.
I allowed myself to trust.
And for the first time, in a long time, I felt my heart beat again.

In the game of love, winning is harder than it looks.
I don’t know the rules.
I don’t know how to win.
But I’ll play my heart out until the whistle blows.

“Odette has a wonderful style that captures your interest from the first page to the last. Her characters are gripping and she weaves their tale in such a way that I did NOT put this book down!!” – Amazon review

This is a standalone book, and this series can be read in any order.

Meh.

I didn't love this story as much as Rory and Max's drama and hilarity in PUCK ME SECRETLY. For one, Ryan's character and his actions with his teammates, his agent, and Zoey didn't come across as believable. The writer had an idea and specific angle as well as direction she was working toward with Ryan and Zoey, yet obviously failed in her rather lame transitions and dialogue from her secondary characters, especially Jenson and Bianca. That reminds me - WTH was up with inserting a classless, fake witch like her into this story without any reasonable subplot or connecting backstory to make her role less painful to accept in the whole scheme of Ryan needing a PA? I thought at first this would have been a great position for Zoey. Then Bianca is hired, albeit with the probationary proviso, which plummeted my very slight hope that this book would turn out to be worth my time and money. She was so evil, skanky, and obvious without doing a thing for the story or Zoey and Ryan's relationship that was already floundering without being given a fair start that I have to question this writer's thought process. Realizing she probably meant to infuse her book with added excitement, treachery and scandalous behaviors, I must wonder if she's ever heard of the wisdom in that saying "less is more.". She instead has proven how awkward and overdone it was to make too much of Zoey's poverty, hard life, and difficulties, then compounding going overboard with everything by including the cliche abusive foster dad who turns into a stalker, and the beyotch Bianca morphing into the unsurprising manipulative, wicked disgruntled employee with ulterior visions of grandeur of herself in Ryan's future. So sorry, but this was so, so, anticlimactic after the wonderful job that was done with the first book in this series. Maybe if she had spread the harsh situational realities that happen on the streets to other characters in future books the story would be more realistic. I mean, how can Ryan go from not even seeing Zoey as an attractive female when he first meets and interacts with her to desiring her and thinking of her all the time when the writer didn't even write this possibility into her plotline from the beginning? As stated earlier, it was forced, unrealistic, and extremely awkward. One point two stars. Disappointing, though the sexy scenes are hot -- they just don't jive with the other garbage and facts this writer's inserting into her plot and characters' backstories. At. All.

Odette Stone Wins With This Book!

This book! Oh my lord!! It’s sweet, heart wrenching and hot all at the same time! Zoey is an adorable, feisty homeless girl who has had such a hard life but is a fighter. Ryan finds her and is so very sweet to her. As Zoey gets back on her feet, with a Ryan’s help (and with the help of his agent and some of his teammates who also thinks she’s precious), their feelings blossom. When someone from Zoeys past turns up and threatens Zoey and her relationship with Ryan, they have to work hard to realize what it will take to find a future for themselves. This beautiful story was my first by Odette Stone and I will definitely be reading her other books. She’s a winner!

Loved This Story

I loved Zoey and Ryan. Two characters who are, in their own way, lost, and trying to survive with the hand they’ve been dealt. Zoey’s story was heartbreaking. Orphaned, placed in foster care at the age of six, then turned out on her own. Now working, but homeless. Depending on safe shelters, 24 hour diners with kind staff, and coffee houses with clean bathrooms. She survives, but does not thrive. Ryan has been traded from his beloved hockey team, to a team where he is openly hated. He has no family, no friends, no social life. His only friendly face in town, is his agent. When fate throws Zoey in his path, he knows she should be off limits, but there is something about her that he admires. She’s tough, gritty, and underneath has a very soft, vulnerable side. So he does what he can to help. He becomes her savior, her roommate, her best friend, and when the time is right her lover. Ryan was so sweet. Very conflicted where Zoey is concerned but very sweet. I loved watching him win over his teammates. Zoey was a very strong character. She wanted so bad to trust Ryan, but her past experiences have left her wary and distrustful of men. I loved how Ryan saved her from the street, but ultimately, it was Zoey who saved herself. Great story, great characters. I loved having dual points of view in this book. A bit of angst, some drama and suspense. A very, very slow burn romance. But does have a happy ending. I’m looking forward to Mica’s book.

Better than the first book in the series

I loved that he started saving her but at the end she saved herself. On the first book my only complain was that the h will not “speak up” and even when I know it helps to keep the plot it gets old fast. There was not such problem here. The h is sweet, smart feisty and after an bit of insecurity she shows she won’t be a pushover. H is everything anyone can hope for. The author knows how to keep the reader interest and It’s a nice easy read.

Home Game- Vancouver Wolves

This is the second book in this amazing hockey series with Ryan being kind to a homeless girl Zoey and they eventually fall in love. He is traded to the Wolves because the GM won a bet and he was the consulation prize from his previous club. He was not happy and no one on the Wolves were making an effort to reach out to him and be his friend and his teammate. Ryan keeps coming to Zoey's rescue even though she does not want his help but she is desperate after being mugged. He takes her ho.e and missed her until she is healthy again. Their love story is amazing as they try to let each other live their lives and he tried to make her independent from him. He wants her to choose him and not because she would otherwise be homeless. All his teammates like her and she helps him decorate his apartment and decorated his home straight out of Ikea, her favorite store. They go through a lot but accept that they were made for each other at the end and he stays with the Wolves because of her and she starts to attend college to get an accounting degree. This was a fantastic story and I cannot wait to read Mica, his teammates story next.

5stars

It’s been a while since I’ve fallen completely in love with a book and its characters but this book just caught me by surprised and I loved very minute of it. Ryan and Zoey’s relationship built slowly over but when they finally came together it was incredible. I love that they got to know each other before moving on to the physical. It just made it better when they finally did. I now need to go back and read the first book in the series. I hope there will be more in the series.

It was a great page turner!

I've read a LOT of romance novels in my life and as many hockey romance novels as I can get my hands on. This one was exceptional. I was captured from the first page (that I foolishly ready 'before bed' at 9:30 pm) and didn't stop until I was finished at 1:30 in the morning (and I get up at 4:30 for work). I never felt like I wanted to skip ahead and each page added value. Strong character development. Steamy but not gratuitous and always to enhance the story. Loved the other characters in the story. Can't wait to read more from this author. Off to read the first in the series! WELL DONE.

Fun read

So this author showed up on my Facebook, like so many others because I'm an avid reader. I was pleasantly surprised by the advertisement that I decided to give the book a read; I'm so glad I did. I was hooked by the style of writing the author used. The book was well written. I also loved the characters. (I would write more on this review but my 3 year old grandson is demanded a bit of my time.) All I can say is that I will continue to read books by this author and since and few reviewers stated the first book in this series is even better, I will buy that one today....hope you all enjoy this author as much as I do!

Trust

Incredible romantic story of two different characters who happen to cross pass that change their life’s in more than one way! Time and trust lead to a unbelievable love that is overflowing with hot sweet loving and a future meant to be! Absolutely loved this second book please let there be more, thanks ♥️♥️

Love it, love it, LOVE IT!!

As with most First Person romances, I went into this one warily, uncertain what to expect. Most such romances are stilted, under-researched, and in serious need of a good editing pen. Was I ever in for a pleasant surprise! From the opening line of the book, Ms. Stone had me hooked into Zoey's story, even before the romance came around. My heart went out to the feisty, scrambling-to-make-it-by Zoey, and the reader can FEEL her angst, and her determination to stay away from something that's clearly harmed her, though she doesn't give many clues at first as to what happened to her. I loved this story! The characters are deep, complex, and layered with all sorts of nuance you don't see from many First Person romances. Nor was it all a thinly disguised sex-fest, like so many are. There was real meat to the bones of this story, and it keeps the reader entrenched in the story. I couldn't put it down. And I'm looking forward to reading more of Ms. Stone's work!

One of my favorites

As I started to reread this book for the 4th or 5th time I felt like I really owed the author a review! As the pandemic has stretched on I have found myself rereading books more than I ever have. I like to settle in with old friends where I know the roadblocks will be taken care of and the happily ever after is familiar. This book is one of my favorites- Ryan is such a great guy who finds himself at a loss when it comes to Zoey. The changes in Zoey from the beginning to the end of the book are great to watch. I love the characters of Krista and Mica and they are great in the next book, The Penalty Box, which is Mica's story. I have gotten a great deal of enjoyment from this book and hope you will as well.

Good, diverting story

What first hooked me on this novel was the excerpt printed on Facebook, so I ordered the sample. I liked it, so I ordered the whole novel. I enjoyed its description of the growing relationship between good guy macho hockey player Ryan and street smart, homeless—but also intelligent, beautiful, vulnerable Zoey, whom he at first charitably takes in as a “roommate” when she has been assaulted and injured. Of course some elements of the novel demanded suspension of disbelief and it seemed to me to go on too long, with so many complications in the love relationship. There were a couple of shockingly bad pronoun case errors that distracted me. Still, I cheered for Ryan and Zoey and liked the ending.

Kick ass punk grrrl owns hockey players heart

Okay - i am a HUGE huge sucker for stories where the alpha hero falls for the non traditional girl. The down on her luck, chuck wearing, blue hair, throw in a couple tattoo's type. That girl that you know has had it tough her whole life and has had to protect herself every step of the way. And then to have an Alpha-hole (quintessentially a hockey god) totally get rocked by them is like my serious trope jam every single time. Heat level in this (and most of her other books) are at a solid burn - but deepdown in my dirty little soul i hope she gets a little dirtier. That said - serious steam level, don't let me hold you back! Synopsis: FMC is a down on her luck orphan - aged out of the system and basically living in a shelter. After a meet cute at a coffee shop with hockey god, he basically helps her out on a interim basis. Which means, in romancelandia, that she's probably not going to leave. I LOVED how she had to stand on her own two feet though. That said, there is a good conflict in here. Secondary characters are fun and brought back from other books. Great read. Bought it and plan on reading again!!

Rage to riches with HEA

I really loved this book except the sex scene at the end. I found this book engaging and entertaining. It had me crying through most of it! I felt so bad for the hero and the heroine at different times. The heroine was so pitiful at the first part of thebook. After the hero tried to slow the roll and let her grow independently I felt so bad for both of them. He was so pitiful after he used such poor judgment in how he talked to her. She was so pitiful in her feelings of abandonment it just took so long for them to come back together. The sex was so unrealistic and I hated his dirty talk, it was so out of character for him. I like dirty talk just not some of the references he made.

Home game winner

A wonderful hockey romance with different but likeable characters, a storyline with a feisty rags to succes girl and a hockey nice guy. There was enough emotional connection that as I reader I cried when Zoey was sad. So to sum up: Writing quality: Excellent Violence: Yes Sexual content: Yes Narration: First person, his an her point of view Plot: Build up of relationship, some complications and threats Mood: A perfect romance with tension and resolution Pace: Steady Character development: Developed A great romance read.

Best in the series!!!

Loved all 4?? books in the series...technically 3 but 4th one the spinoff is technically "related". But this one by far was my favorite. I love Odette's books....read all of them...and each time when I think the next book can't be better than the previous one I am proved wrong. This one is a hockey - sports themed love story that just grabs you by the heart and you have hard time breathing when you read it. It is that good. Loved the characters, loved the storyline and I can only hope that there will be more like this one in the future. Thank you for great read Odette!

Another "Favorites" Author For My List...

I ran across Odette Stone's Vancouver Wolves Hockey series and borrowed book #2 via my Kindle Unlimited. It was so good l then borrowed books #1 and #3. They were just as wonderful, if not even better, than the first book I read. In fact, I was so impressed I went ahead and purchased all 3 for my personal library and also signed up with the author's website to receive future book release updates! Thanks Ms. Stone...great to add another talented author to my favorites list!!!

❤️

This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it so much I immediately purchased Mica’s and Andrusha’s stories. The characters were well developed, the grammar and sentence structure was well above average (especially compared to all of the crap that is put out electronically now), and I really experienced the emotions of both Ryan and Zoey. Odette Stone will definitely be an author whose books I continue to read.

Favorite book yet in the hockey series!!! Amazing!!!

Oh my gosh I absolutely LOVED Ryan’s and Zoey’s story!! The POV from both characters was really refreshing—in some of her other books it’s okay when the POV is just one character’s but I much prefer both! This has been my favorite hockey story yet!! I absolutely fell in love with both characters right off the bat and couldn’t put this down until the end. So good. I laughed, cried and whooped through so much of this book. Can’t wait to read Mica’s story.

WOW!!

OMG! Loved it!! Cannot wait for the next one! Interesting and different (in a great way!) story premise. Lots of chemistry and sparks between the characters. Some great suspense thrown in. Loved Zoey, Ryan and all the surrounding personalities in the book. Looking forward to more from this series.

Awesome story!

I chose this rating because I really liked the book. The story was different and yet it had everything I wanted and looked for in a story. The story isn't always about a damsel in distress who would always have to depend on a man to always fix things for them. Zoey's character showed a lot of spunk and she didn't trust anyone, but after what she went through...who could blame her. Ryan was a great all around good guy who wanted to help and protect Zoey...I loved the friendship and the budding relationship between these two characters ----That's why I gave this story a high rating. I have immensely appreciated reading Ms. Stone's books....I cannot wait to read more.

A shadowed path that is worth the trek.

Zoey, a homeless waitress, meets and helps Ryan, a player for the Vancouver Wolves, while at a coffee shop where he is having difficulty putting in receipts for his accountant. As the story progresses trust is slowly earned, secrets and difficulties keep piling up, and hard decisions lead to harder lives. Odette Stone’s Home Game leads the reader on a shadowed path that is worth the trek. Each step you take getting further into the lives of the player and his gal, the happy ending they didn’t realize they needed, and the realistic yet turbulent journey to get there.

Amazing hockey love story

I am addicted to this series. This story was even better than the first, Zoey and Ryan makes a great couple. A very slow burn, no instalust or instalove, but the story of two strangers from different standings in life growing and evolving together. A great hockey romance with a small cameo from the last book.

Zoey and Ryan made me love!

Ryan meets Zoey in a cafe, a one off meeting between two people, and she helps him. I thought I knew how this story would go, but it didn't. You know, boy meets girl, slay all her dragons and they live happily ever after....nope. This story has loveable characters that have you smiling, crying, and cheering. This is my first book with Odette Stone and I'm excited to read more. This is a very good read!

A modern Cinderella and Prince Charming hockey story.

A different story of "Cinderella" and the Prince. A homeless young woman in Canada because the foster system tosses them out on the streets at too early an age with no support, and a hockey player who was traded on a bet are in Vancouver. Thrown together against their will. Throw in a stalker from the girl's scary past, and you have suspense, drama, romance and a great story.

Zoey and Ryan are the most adorable couple

The love story between Zoey & Ryan is wonderful. They both need healing and they help each other become better. You find that Ryan admires Zoey's strength and while some things He does hurt her, in the end, She realizes He did it to make her even stronger than she already is. Zoey helps Ryan learn to acclimate with his team and make friends after his transfer to Vancouver.

So, so good!

OMG! I loved, loved, loved this book! I could not put it down. The storyline was great and kept me turning the page. This is the first book that I've read by this author and it won't be the last. It was an emotional read that got me some strange looks because I was trying to hold back some tears at the airport. It's a must read! I can't wait to read more from Odette Stone!

Great Hockey Romance

This is the first time I've read a book by this author, and I really enjoyed it. If you like hockey romances, you will enjoy this book. The characters, Ryan and Zoey, are interesting, well-developed and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written, with a happily ever after. In addition to receiving an arc, I purchased the book for my collection.

Home Game is a wonderful story

This was the first time reading an Odette Stone novel. I ordered 2 from a series and I’ve got to say I loved Home Game the best. The other book was good but Home Game was awesome. It’s about Hockey Player Ryan Parker who helps a homeless young lady and in the process they fall in love. It was a wonderful sweet love story and I highly recommend this book.

Home Game is a winner!

My 1st book by this author and it is a winner! I’m adding Odette Stone to my TBR authors. The game of hockey holds absolutely no interest to me but Ryan and Zoey sure did. They are the cutest “non-couple” at the beginning of this book. Two people with extreme opposite lifestyles come together in the most wonderful way.

Wonderful book

This was the first book I read from this author. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the next 2 books in line. The characters are built up, you connect with them pretty good for being a standalone. The bedroom scenes are nice and steamy (just the way I like it!) even the plot is good. I love that this author doesn’t repeat herself over and over again just to fill pages. It’s written in the H & h POV and does not end on a cliffhanger (thank you for that).

It was not what I was expecting

I did like the story but for some reason, I didn't like the heroine, she was too young for the hero in my opinion. At first I liked her because she was strong at the very beginning of the story then she began to get wimpy and started to cling to the hero. I thought Zoey could have been a stronger character.

Loved it!

Another amazing book. I will keep writing reviews so that others will be brave and buy her books. I’m going to finish typing and buy the next one in the series. Characters are heartwarming, well-developed, and sexy. All while injecting humor, that’s the fun part in reading her books.

5 stars!

Absolutely loved everything about this story. So well written I read it in one sitting. Zoey and Ryan shot sparks when they finally got around to it. Well worth the wait. Adored the supporting cast and I loved the last meeting Zoey had with Bianca....bang, pow! Looking forward to the next book!

Very good!

I really enjoyed Home Game! This is my first hockey book! I really like that it wasn’t all about hockey and sex. Zoey’s homelessness and Ryan’s generosity to Zoey are heartwarming. The bad part it seems like the Author is obsessed with Blue eyes! All the main characters have blue eyes and she mentions how blue they are almost every time we look at anyone’s eyes.

FABULOUS !

Wow! What a lovely, positive yung romance! You literally find yourself cheering for the happy ending like a true hockey fan! And that is I believe the intent of the amazing author whose bockey themed novels make us excited and asking for more!

Great Read!!

Odette has a wonderful style that captures your interest from the first page to the last. Her characters are gripping and she weaves their tale in such a way that I did NOT put this book down!! As a hockey player, I appreciate her knowledge and understanding of the sport as there are plenty of poorly written hockey romances out there. This is not one of them!!!! Only start this book when you have time to read it all! Bravo Odette!!

Love this sweet love story

Sweet emotional read. Zoey is homeless and Ryan is sweet enough to help her out but his help came with a price for his heart. As they spend time together feeling evolved and Ryan makes a decision that affects their relationship. Enjoyed reading how Zoey evolved and became independent. Good story. Recommended read.

Amazing Book

Words cannot describe how amazing this book is. I’ve read it and I go back every time I see little snip it’s of it on Facebook. Definitely a book your not going to want to miss and I can’t wait to read about the other Hockey players!!

Great read from a new author

OMGiddyAunt!! This story gripped me from the first word on the first page until the last word on the last page. I even growled at my supervisor when he was bugging me while reading LOL! I loved this entire story and am adding it to my reread pile immediately!!

And THAT'S how you write romance Folks!

Make room on your e-reader for truly great writing by Odette Stone. Loved loved loved the story of Ryan & Zoey. Perfect progression, emotions that you can feel and a hot hockey player taking care of a broken soul. Definitely a favorite for the year and one I'll reread.

The next in a great hockey/ romance series

Great story. Love the connection and then the growth for both Ryan & Zoey. Love the characters...especially the hockey players. Book #2 of the series. Read them all

Could Not Stop Reading

You know how you one-click books, but let them fall back in your queue? Yeah, I did that with this one, and I can’t stop kicking myself for not reading it as soon as I downloaded it! Such a great book! The story unfolds naturally between Ryan and Zoey, and there were no rushed or contrived parts. I loved the surrounding cast of characters, and am looking forward to the rest of the series. I’m so glad I found Odette Stone!

5 Solid Stars!

I finally found a hockey romance book that I enjoyed! I loved all of the characters too! They were refreshingly 3-dimensional. And the writing and storytelling was A+++. I will definitely read another book by this author!

Brilliant, Kind, loved it!

If you want a roller coaster ride, then this is it. Ups, downs, and twists along the way! I was hooked and will definitely re-read over again. Matter of fact I want to right now! I love the characters and how much they do especially when it about others. Great book and love this author! Always delivers!!

Great entertaining read

Such a good story! You find yourself deeply involved within a few pages and the sexual tension is intense! Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Home Game

Well worth time to read. I love Ryan and Zoey's story it beautiful written and the storyline is Fantastic, and the characters keep you to the end.

Powerful and beautiful

Seeing the female character grow into the woman she was meant to be by the help of love was beautiful. Both characters needed each other to find the best in them.

Great story but PLEASE FACT CHECK!!!

I loved the story line and characters...but...for the love of all things holy...there are 82 games in an NHL regular season!!! This is the SECOND "hockey romance" I've read in the last month (different authors) that has the male hockey player starting that he played "84 games this season". #EndRant Other than that, the book was amazing and I look forward to reading about the rest of the Vancouver Wolves!

Love this rescue story

This was heart touching, hot, and exciting! A great read! Just downloaded the next one!! Love big hot men that can be gentle too!

Absolutely loved Ryan & Zoey

I was hesitant to read this book because I don’t know much about hockey. However once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. It didn’t matter that I didn’t understand hockey. The love that bloomed between Ryan and Zoey will make you clutch your heart. Read this book. You will not regret it.

Beautiful!!!

Wow. This story had so much...homelessness, abuse, foster care. Seeing Zoey blossom from a petrified young lady to a fierce woman was absolutely beautiful!! I highly recommend it!!!

great reading.

Great read. The writer is a magician with the way she describes her characters, relationships and holds to suspense. I'm hooked.

I reaaly like this author's stories

I loved the story but was impatient with the hero's lack of communication skills But he did warn her he was not good at it

Much better than the first book

This story was much better than the first book. You couldn't help but love Zoey and cheer her on from beginning to end. My only issue is that in the series she always has someone come and attack the woman and the guy comes in to save her. Which let's be honest, these women can take care of themselves.

Need more a lot more

Yes yes yes yes...... I want more finding Odette was a chance i am soo glad I took it and will forever be a fan

A great read

Odette Stone is a fabulous storyteller. She provides laughs and tears and exposes complex emotions in her characters. I am looking forward to the next book.

Wonderful!

This is one of those books you are so sad when it's over. I will be thinking about this one for a long time. I will find myself wondering what those characters are up to now. Thank you!

I enjoyed this book, the plot was fresh and original.

Good character development although Terrence didn’t really convince me that he was dangerous. A little tweet there would help and some typos

Incredibly amazing!!!!! Couldn't put it down!

Ryan & Zoey, what an incredible story, he gain her, trust and then her love. I'm in love with this story.

Good story

Good story with extremely strong written characters a great plot twist at the end . you also realize from the beginning that this much like "much ado about nothing"

Well written

Very enjoyable characters. I’m a big hockey fan myself so it was interesting to read about a hockey romance. This book sucked me in

a great read

a gripping story that was’t sex every other page! i love this read and went to bed late so i could finish it! highly recommend this book. i’ll definitely read the other books in the series!

Another Late Night Post...

So, read the second book in the series in one night, too. Great characters and great emotional, sweet, endearing reading!

Great series!

So loving this series! Hockey is such a brutal sport, but so is life. Wonderful story of Ryan and Zoey. Sweet characters, can't wait to read the rest of this series! Highly recommend. 5 out of 5 stars.

Loved it!

This sucked me while I was at work Thursday and finished it in a day! Didn’t accomplish anything else besides finishing this book!!

I liked it... not too crazy sexfilled but still agreat story

I’d read this again. It has nice hero building and great supporting cast. Relationship was even semi believable:) the timeline was a bit overdrawn out nearing the end but I liked the story overall.

What a story!

This was a story of love and friendship built on trust that takes you on an emotional ride of a lifetime. I was cheering for Zoey because she came from nothing but remained strong and steadfast to defy the odds. Ryan is a humble individual who unexpectedly found what seemed to be missing from his life. I simply adored their interaction. I thought it'd take me two days to read this book like my usual but I didn't sleep until I read the end.

Good book

I was really impressed with this book. Great story nice and complete. Had some tears, fuzzy good feels. Really impressed. You should read this series

Good

I loved the thoughtfulness of the two main characters. They took the advice of others and built their relationship steadily even though they didn't want to sometimes.

Loved it!

One of the best books I’ve read this season! Loved every minute of it! Give it a try, you’ll love it!

A Great read

Love this book!! My fav!

So cute!

I love Zoey so much. Her feistiness was my favorite part of the whole book. Hockey romances are the best

Bait and switch

I feel like thus was a "bait and switch" story. It started off with a heroine who was rough, tough, and street smart, but at some poibt she morphed into a sweet young innocent. Even her looks, she was described at first as a tiny punk rocker chick, and people looked st her oddly, but even before she got a makeover, one of the hero's fellow hockey players told her that she was "the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen". And the "mean girl" assistant and threatening stalker from the heroine's past seemed like throw away subplots that didn't really add to the story.

Fair

Good premise, likable characters, decent pacing...all characteristics of a pretty decent contemporary romance that unfortunately, got bogged down in repetitive, heavy-handed application of melodrama. The hero, Ryan is a good guy That spent too much time feeling guilty about lusting over Zoey, making out with her and then beating himself up for having done so. Zoey, our heroine is often too wounded, too skittish and too needy to the point of making me annoyed. These characteristics, while necessary for her character development were applied with a heavy hand until the very end. Without giving too much away, her “transformation” at the end felt too quick given how damaged she was throughout most of the book. Over all, this is not a bad book just heavy on the tear-jerker plot elements. The sensuality rating runs about a 7/10 but not until the last 3-4 chapters.

I heart Ryan

Overall I did enjoy this book. But it was mainly for Ryan. What wasn’t to love about him. He was generous, kind, sensitive. And masculine. And super thoughtful. My main issue was with Zoey. She started off as having such a hard exterior, standing up for herself, etc. But the longer she’s with Ryan the more dependent she gets and it seems she has no more backbone. She lets some entitled PA walk all over her, which makes no sense. She also seems really naive about everything and overly paranoid about Ryan and his motives when I felt he did what he could to protect her feelings and put her best interest ahead of what he may have wanted. She just became really annoying to the point I didn’t want to root for her. She kind of treated Ryan poorly after all he did for her. But ultimately it’s some fantasy story that would never happen in real life. But I feel if Zoey had been more consistent it would’ve read better.

Not Bad. Liked Book 3 Better

This was a good read. I did like The Penalty Box better, but this was ok. I liked Ryan. He was a nice guy, very generous, and concerned about Zoey. I liked Zoey's character too. It did seem to me that Zoey at the beginning of the book morphed into a different Zoey toward the middle of the book. Early Zoey was defensive, street smart, and had this edginess to her. Middle of the book Zoey seemed to me like she was more innocent, angelic, and helpless. I guess her character needed to change so she could become end of the book Zoey, but it didn't seem genuine. I thought she could have kept the edginess, street smarts, and still shown her vulnerability. I also didn't get her reaction to either Bianca or Jansen. I fully expected her to put each of them firmly in their place. I'm not really sure what purpose the served. I kept waiting for the lightbulb moment when Ryan and Krista decided to make Zoey the PA. After what happened with Bianca and Zoey's stalker, I expected a different outcome. I had to stop myself because I realized I was rewriting the book in my head. Lol. With the exception of Bianca and the stalker, all of the characters were likable. Even Jensen became likable. I did think the book went on too long. The whole Ryan and Zoey back and forth like they were in high school was a little over the top. I did like Krista. I hope she gets her own book.

Sweet story about being Equal in Love

Overall this is a lovely little romance. I guess it could be called a Friends-to-Lovers with a dash of Second-Chance type of story. I really enjoyed the main characters and the progression of their relationship, as well as what I found to be the overall message. However it had a few flaws that I found a bit weird and distracting. THE PLOT: Ryan is a successful hockey player who has a chance meeting with Zoey, who is currently homeless. He tries to help her get back on her feet as best as he can, and despite Zoey being very reluctant to accept any "handouts", they become friends, and then begin to fall for each other. THE FLAWS: Its been mentioned in other reviews, but the insertion of the character Bianca didn't make a ton of sense. Ryan's agent has been bugging him for quite some time to find a Personal Assistant. When Zoey shows up and is obviously in need of work, the very first obvious choice should've been for Ryan to offer the job to Zoey. Then his agent meets her, and befriends her, yet does not consider Zoey for the PA job either. Instead they give the job to a characer named Bianca, despite having reservations about her personality. (Hello, Red Flag!) Her character is a bit one-dimensional and seems to exist only to antagonize Zoey for no apparent reason, from day 1. Even Ryan seems to suspect that Bianca is mistreating Zoey, yet does nothing about it. I understand that she does play a role in making Zoey feel bad about herself and her situation, that eventually leads to Zoey learning to stand up for herself. So, in that sense, Okay she sort of has a reason for being there. But Zoey demonstrated how she learned to stand up for herself in a much stronger capacity later on in the story, when she faces down someone from her past. So I think the Bianca character is very unnecessary. The other distraction is the two character's level of attraction for each other. They start off having ZERO, and then it suddenly changes, which I thought was a bit unrealistic. Ryan is an extremely handsome guy, so I would've thought Zoey might acknowledge that upon first meeting him, even if she had no romantic interest in him at first. However it seemed like she doesn't notice his looks until she realizes how much everyone else admires him. That may not have been intentional by the author, but it makes Zoey seem a little bit shallow, which doesn't match up with her character throughout the rest of the story. Ryan also acts as if he can't possibly be attracted to her in the beginning, she may as well have been a teenage boy, to then fantasizing about her every waking moment. Its hard to say exactly when that switch happened, but it just doesn't seem quite right. I can't quite wrap my brain about the side character of Jensen, Ryan's teammate. He harbors animosity towards Ryan and often picks locker room fights with him. He immediately tries to woo Zoey, which of course makes Ryan jealous. But his intentions towards her seem to flip-flop between a genuine interest and potential friendship to mostly aimed at pissing Ryan off. THE MESSAGE: The thing that this story got oh-so-right, is the message of two people needing to have equal footing in a relationship. Ryan and Zoey are both painfully aware of the staggering differences in their situations: Homeless vs Rich & Famous. However, Ryan is the only one who feels very strongly that pursuing a relationship with Zoey (while she is basically at the mercy of his generosity) would be morally wrong. He wants Zoey to be able to take care of herself, so that she's not falling for a Knight-in-Shining-Armor, but for a person she can feel equal to. He can't quite articulate this or why he feels this way, and he messes up majorly, which leads to a lot of misunderstandings and heartbreak. But it is 100% the right thing to do and it made me very happy to read. Overall I fully enjoyed their friendship and their HEA, so I'm giving it 4 stars.

Loved This

I adored Zoey and Ryan. I liked this story and the slow burn of their romance that made it so easy to believe these characters were really in love. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Once thing that bothered me, and I'm not sure it's a Stone thing or not, is she went blonde. In real life I love blonde hair, that whole hair like spun gold thing is kind of neat. But of the last 10 romance books I've read 7 featured blonde leading ladies and 2 of the other three (this one included) had a character who changes her hair to blonde part way through the book and gets the hero only after that occurs. I'm so sick of the genre treating blonde hair as a standard of beauty. I'd estimate that about 80 percent of the books I pick up in romance have a blonde leading lady. Now when I pick up my kids at school, head to the mall, or attend a concert (all places featuring large groups of people) 80 percent of the women or girls on that crowd aren't blond, make 40 percent tops in blondes in those groups and you know what a lot of the girls without blonde hair are astonishingly beautiful so the romance genre as a whole ought to be a little more comparative in the amount of leading ladies who are not blonde. Now I don't know that Stone has the same ratio because I think this is the first book I've picked up of hers, it just happens to be the one where I'm needing to vent about yet another blonde. Overall though, blondes aside, this is a wonderful book that definitely deserves a read.

5 Stars

Read with Kindle Unlimited Did I stay up half the night to finish this book? Why yes, I certainly did. And it was worth it. When I think of words to describe certain aspects of romance novels one word I rarely uses is kindness. But the message of this book is not just about finding true love, but it's about being kind to others. I've never ever read a romance novel where one of the two main characters was homeless. It would never even occur to me to look for a book with a homeless character. I adored the first book in this series and I was looking forward to the second but when I read the heroine was homeless, I had some trepidation about it. I literally had no idea what to expect. But often times, going into a story with zero expectations pays off because it opens you up to have a completely clear palate for something new. And that's what happened to me with Zoey and Ryan's story. I won't go into great detail but I loved it. The beginning is a little hard because Zoey is so hardened. But she had to be and you learn why. Once Ryan brings her home, the whole book shifts and it's so wonderful. Also Krista is my new favorite. Her book is coming too and I can't wait! There's quite a bit of language and there's two sex scenes (three if you read the bonus chapter). They are detailed and explicit. And very very sexy. I'm off to start the next book :)

Had to pop my cherry on this one. For romance’s sake.

I almost gave this a pass based upon the first review that shows up, written by “Kindle Customer” on March 21, 2019. I’m so very glad I instead succumbed to my “must complete the series” neurosis. I have never reviewed a kindle book, despite the fact that I have read on my kindle everyday for over a decade; this is not hyperbole. I read romance most often. Usually my tastes trend toward the MUCH more kinky; alien abduction, dark, dystopian, fated mates, Bratziva, mafia, post-apocalyptic, power exchange, paranormal, BDSM, rough and Alpha Male. However, I am very much a regular, bland, 120llb, 5’3” gen x mom, wife, and stressed out RN. Some times, I just crave- no need- a bit of sweet with my dirty. This book was poignant and subtle. Engaging. Heartfelt while being just vulgar enough. I needed to write my first ever review (and there is a little piece of me that feels as though I’m betraying the authors I’ve read all these years) because I couldn’t stand the thought of that previous and prominently featured negatively slanted review turning people away from this very well constructed and written, satisfying and exceedingly worthy novel. Don’t believe everything you read; and that holds double for reviews. Don’t click on the download link for this book based on my review, and don’t disregard this little gem based on other reviews. I adored this story; and not just because I grew up with posters of Steve Yzerman and Sergei Federov on my walls in lieu of pop stars. Just decide for yourself; just read the first chapter and fall. One way or another.

Zoey and Ryan...

A chain of crappy events catapulted Zoey into Ryan's life. Depending on Ryan for anything was the very last thing Zoey ever wanted to do but he wasn't taking no for an answer. Zoey is constantly 2nd guessing her worth and place of importance in Ryan's life and Ryan is so busy trying to keep his distance that it is throwing mixed signals all over. Then you get THE big Ms B. Ms Bianca, that is. She is so damn annoying that she makes drinking paint thinner look appetizing. Her constant meddling causes Zoey to feel stripped and vulnerable as a result. It isn't until Zoey found her lady balls that Bianca is put out with the rest of the trash. But Zoey and Ryan are constantly getting their signals mixed. Ryan tries so hard to make sure Zoey never feels obligated to him that he ends up pushing her away. And, not knowing any better, Zoey walks away. Time...lots of time and lots of tears and agonizing heartache...8 months worth. They say if you were really meant to have something, set it free and it will return to you. But Zoey isn't so ready to get her heart trampled on...again. But time has also given Zoey the confidence and self-worth she was so sorely lacking before. Zoey needs to know that she can rescue herself. Knowing her importance and a major healthy dose of Ryan's groveling is enough to pull them back together. I'm in serious love with Zoey and Ryan's story! Great 2nd installment to the series!

Can I give this a BILLION stars?! Ryan is my perfect book boyfriend

Can I give this a BILLION stars?! My kryptonite? Abused heroines. Add in abused HOMELESS heroines and a hulking star hockey player? I was a useless pile of goo! I read this in one sitting, and it can be read as a standalone. Ryan just got transferred to another NHL team, and to say the team is less than welcoming is an understatement. He's woefully behind on acclimating to everything, including tax receipts. Tiny, punk rock goth chick Zoey grew up in the foster system, and is now on the streets due to aging out. Even though she's pint sized, she's tough and wary of everyone, especially a mammoth hockey player who goes out of his way to help her in desperate times. Zoey is constantly on guard, wondering what Ryan's end game is when he offers her to crash at his place. Ryan is so caught off guard by his need to "slash every dragon for a hundred miles" and keep her safe. <<

Great Story

I have read several Odette Stone stories and like a good wine she just keeps getting better and better with age and experience. In this second installment of the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series she has taken her game to a new level. The emotions are raw and pouring of the pages. Ryan is one of the best characters I have read in awhile. I just want to hold him and help fix him. The story progressed at a natural pace, not feeling hurried or drawn out. Reading this one engage my soul not just my mind. The experience was a full experience and when the story was over I was left with a warm feeling and ready to read the next story in the series. I can't say enough good stuff about this one. In my mind it is a must read, even if you are not into sports romances, it is hard to not be a fan of love and this one is a great love story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ryan is a hero worthy of the title. Loved this emotional slow burn love story!

I have read other books by Odette Stone, but Home Game was the most emotional one I’ve read so far. I love a series where you get to know the players and characters, and this is book 2 in the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series. It features Ryan Parker who is new to the team and not very welcome by the other players for reasons that will unveil themselves in time. He meets Zoey by happenstance and this is not love at first sight. It’s heartbreaking and Ryan is a hero in everyway. She is homeless and in need of a friend, yet never asks for a thing. She could easily take advantage of him but doesn’t. She is smart and humble, just down on her luck for many reasons, and Ryan with his big giant heart, is just the man to let her know she is not alone. He doesn’t “save” her, which I admire, just gives her a helping hand that she so desperately needs and they become friends and roommates. He is there for her every step of the way. Swoon. Swoon. Swoon. I love how he builds her confidence and how he recognizes all of her wonderful qualities. He listens, supports her emotionally, and encourages her, all while never judging. He is a wonderful man suffering with his own burdens, but is so honorable for putting her needs first. I just loved him. Zoey was amazing. She was independent, smart, witty, guarded, loyal, and filled with an internal strength. She had so many horrible things happen to her, yet she still got up everyday and tried to be positive. Home Game also includes a bit of suspense as someone from Zoey’s past comes back to threaten her, but Ryan and his teammates will have none of that. The only part of the book I didn’t like was the evil Personal Assistant Blair whom he hired. I had hoped that Zoey would have filled that role, but she was meant for better things. That was only a small part of this wonderful story, and Zoey gave it to her good! I love the slow burn of their romance as they each started with their relationship with their own fears and doubts. Their pull and attraction is undeniable, and their love is that much stronger because they were friends first. I love how this is written in dual points of view, with all the feels and great character development. Each chapter flows perfectly right into the next. I love all of the secondary characters as well and can’t wait to read Mica’s story next. Beautifully done!

Wow!

OMG! I loved this book! It's the first book I've read from this author but it won't be the last. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series and the others. This books grabbed me from the start and held me hostage through the entire thing. There is a lot going on in this book and she didn't leave me hanging once. Zoey and Ryan were amazing characters. They grew throughout the book. This isn't a simple famous hockey player, Ryan, helps homeless down on her luck girl, Zoey. Ryan is a boy scout and at first that's why he helps Zoey. Living on the streets and trying to be tough is a lot of work, but Zoey also has a heart of gold and deserves a break. After Zoey helps Ryan out, he helps her out, not once but twice. This author didn't make things easy. The stuff Zoey went through made me cry. I don't want to spoil what happened but you'll need Kleenex for this book. At first, the chemistry isn't there between them. They are just getting through the situation but the more time they are together the more things heat up. Zoey brings out a side of Ryan, not just the boy scout, he didn't know he missed. And Ryan believes in her and helps her find her strength. But Zoey's past comes back with a vengeance and Ryan has things in his life that ho threaten their future together. Can they get past all this and make it work? Ugh! All the feels and a lot of tears. There is a lot more to this story then I was expecting. The amount of growth in these characters is hard to find in books. A lot of authors would just skim over some of these details but this author didn't and it made for a wonderful book. I had to read this book twice. It had me captured. I look forward to reading more and seriously recommend this book!

An Awesome Book!!

I loved reading Home Game: A Hockey Sports Romance Novel(A Vancouver Wolves Hockey Romance Book 2). All about Zobenia Petrie a twenty year old punk rock homeless girl & Ryan Parker a Vancouver Wolves Hockey player. They met in a coffee shop when his laptop closed the program he was using to enter receipts! He nearly had a panicked meltdown!! So I looked over and told him what to do, he was clueless and asked for my help. I got his program back up and he was so happy, till it disappeared again. This time he said I’ll pay you to fix this and enter in all my receipts! Zoey took pity on him and helped him. He gave her his card and said call if you need any help ever. The author wrote a story about a girl who has been on her own on the streets of Vancouver for the last six years, just trying to make it and not attract anybody to her situation. Read about Ryan & Zoey and see if they can navigate thru everyday life and still maintain a good solid friendship while navigating thru life’s speed bumps! This is the second book in this series, and it’s a page turner just like book one. The author has an amazing knack for hooking you on page one and you the reader wanting to read thru the night to finish the story you can not put down!! This story has all the suspense, and emotions to keep you totally engaged till the last word! !!

Big improvement for this A

Don't let this review rating discourage you from reading! I started with book 2 in this series, went through it, 3 and then 4 and circled back to this one within the past week. Dual POV. Homeless heroine. Star hockey player H. Sp oi l er ish co n tent ahead! I didn't care for the fact that these two meet and then go their separate ways for some time before getting together again. While I'm not always a fan of insta love, I do prefer for the mains to recognize the potential in one another from the get go at least. Really did like how the H was with the h. Protective and kind. Took points off for the H's mom influencing their relationship. And therefore them taking time apart. I understand his point, but it could have been handled WAY better. This series is a MUCH better feeling than this A's other series currently out. It's drastically enough different and better in planning, writing and vibes that I have to wonder if the same person actually wrote this series AND the others. Perhaps she actually has a passion for hockey.

Love it

I stumbled upon Odette by pure luck. I was in the mood for a hockey romance so I searched that genre on Amazon. I decided to check out her Vancouver Wolves series....boy am I beyond happy I took a chance on this series. I ended up reading all 3 books that are out, plus her mafia one that is interconnected to this series. She does an amazing job of making you feel ALL the feels all the way through the books. I loved Ryan and Zoey's story. Some people reviewed and stated it was "unrealistic" but come on people, you do realize you are reading fiction right? It also is not hard to believe that there are good people out there that would help out, and that if you are being helped after being crapped on for so long you would doubt it or feel uncertain. I think the story was well done. It made me laugh, it made me sigh, it made me feel heartbreak. I loved the twist towards the end because it is how it should have been done. I loved it! I will keep reading anything she puts out, clearly!!....5 pucks for sure.

Absolutely unique heroine

Rating: R for sex and language Sex: multiple scenes, detailed descriptions Language: F word very frequently used, along with others Violence: assault, stalking, bullying, cat fight, attempted kidnapping, knifing, theft HEA: yes, with questions about Mica Ryan's trying to enter his expenses into a computer program while at a coffee shop. Suddenly everything is gone. The punk rock girl next to him helps him maximize the program. Then it happens again, and she shows him what he did. He asks for her help, and offers to pay. The task takes longer than they thought, and now Zoey can't get into the homeless shelter for the night. Ryan offers his couch, though he doesn't know why. I thought this was an excellent story. The characters were very well developed, and that's critical, I think, for a good story. The concept for the heroine is very unique. I really like Zoey, and Ryan's very good for her, and she for him. I appreciated Jensen's honor, Mica's friendship, and Ryan's agent's friendship (I can't remember her name!). It was nice to see Rory from book 1.

Oh My Heart!

Oh my goodness!! This had to be one of the sweetest books I have read in awhile! Home Game was the second book in Odette’s Vancouver Wolves Hockey series. It was full of second chances and personal growth. Circumstances beyond Zoey’s control left her living on the streets. She happened to be in the right place at the right time but how long could the fairy tale last? When Ryan found Zoey was living in shelters he tried the best to help her. When her situation went from bad, to worse; he was there again. He felt the need to protect Zoey, but she was always on guard. Would she finally let him in or would her past come between them again? Ryan!! He was one of the good ones, we need more guys like him in the world. I know this was fiction and real life can’t compare, but it made me think of how many people would do what he did? It was a beautiful story! A slow burn that made me have all the feels!

Mostly great. Maybe teeny, slight spoilers.

This is probably more of a 3.5-star book for me. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. (Who knew I'd be into sports romances?) - But, I did have a few issues with this book. Things that could have been easily fixed or looked out for in future series books. The characters, especially the two MCs from this book use the exact same speech style and word choices as the characters from Book 1. The nose pinching really was grating. The 'hey' at the end of questions. There were also a few grammatical errors, including some missing closing quotations. I also agree that Zoey was gritty/edgy in the beginning & somewhere along the line turned into this total powderpuff. Beginning book Zoey would never have allowed Bianca to behave that way. She would have something to say. Bianca felt like a completely unnecessary character and over-the-top horrid. Having one spanner more in the works (the foster dad) was more than enough on top of the main story. The story did go on longer than it needed to. All that said - how can you not love Ryan and Zoey? Or, Krista for that matter? I'm usually more into the anti-hero, the bad boys who need redemption, but Ryan is just so lovely, it's hard not to love him. So what, if the whole team automatically loving her didn't feel real enough. It's a book. We're allowed to set aside our jaded thoughts and believe this sporty, rich world circled around Zoey and fell in love with her. And, who wouldn't? Her genuine excitement for all things IKEA and swedish are pretty hard to resist. So yeah, great little story. On to the next.

Heartbreaking yet funny story of two unlikely people finding love.

Zoey is in a coffee shop and she sees Ryan trying to enter his receipts on his laptop. She helps him with that and he gives her his card. Zoey is homeless and trying to make her way to the shelter before they close. But she doesn't make it in time so she tries for a diner that lets her hang out. But they are closed so she tries to hang around out back but a guy attacks her. She ends up in the hospital as a Bus Driver helped stop her attack and called 911. With no phone on her and no identification, they find Ryan's card and give him a call. Ryan is a hockey player new to the team since he was traded. His new team doesn't like him since he took out one other their best players last season. But when Ryan gets the call he goes to see if he can help Zoey. My heart just broke for Zoey and all the hardships she endured. Plus she kept thinking that Ryan would tire of helping her and kick her out. Love, loved loved Ryan but he could be so dense at times I wanted to shake him. But he doesn't do relationships and he tells Zoey he won't touch her while she stays with him. heartbreaking in many places but also heartwarming as well. I wanted Bianca to get her comeuppance but guess what Zoey did was fine. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!! Can't wait to read about Mica as he is another sweetheart. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Odette Stone is on a winning streak with HOME GAME

Odette Stone is on a winning streak with HOME GAME, the second book in the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series. Hockey star Ryan Parker has been traded to the Vancouver Wolves, where his teammates hate him. Zobenia (Zoe) Petrick is down on her luck. The two could just save each other. I really love Ryan. He has had a difficult time adjusting to his new team because when he was on his previous team, he accidentally hurt Wolves' player, Noah Moore. It was a clean hit, but not everyone feels that way. Ryan’s rivalry with Jensen was an interesting aspect in the story. Jensen is Noah’s best friend and fellow assistant captain. Ryan is a remarkable character. He is a total boy scout. He is giving and kind. Zoey is an amazing heroine. After her parents’ death, she was put in foster care. At age nineteen, she was left to fend for herself. Only able to make minimum wage she is left homeless. For good reasons, she finds it hard to trust. She is strong and has a great personality. She is the kind of person that people gravitate towards. HOME GAME is a heartfelt and emotional story. The characters have many challenges and grow tremendously throughout the story. The novel is skillfully written and hard to put down. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Falling for her savior

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Ryan and Zoey. She's a young girl down on her luck, homeless and alone. He's a star hockey player who has just been transferred to the Vancouver wolves. He meets her at a coffee shop that he's trying to get his papers in order for his accountant and she is reading. When she realizes that she's is late, he offers to dive her. But when they arrive at the shelter and she can't stay, Ryan offers to help. Before she leaves, he gives her good card. Zoey is street smart but had a past. One night getting is work late, she heads to a diner to spend the night, only to find it closed. She's attached and robbed. The ER calls Ryan, since his contact information is the only thing they find on her. Ryan offers to take care of her. A tedious relationship/friendship develops. She sees a softer side to Ryan that most don't. But when his new pa invites her past monsters on, it leaves her scared and on edge. Not only does Ryan look out for her but she does his team mates. There is a jealous streak when she is approached by his teammate Jenson. But he is afraid to admit his feelings. His mom gives him a new prospective, that Zoey needs to stand on get own before they can start a relationship. This is a great HEA. Loved the characters and their interaction. I really really enjoyed this book.

I really really enjoyed this book. I've never read Odette Stone before, or this series. When I picked up Home Game, I didn't realize it was the second one in a series. I'd seen a sponsored ad on Facebook and it immediately sucked me in. So I immediately went to Amazon and got it. This book felt so real. Like something you could see happening in real life and I think that was the biggest draw for me. It was emotional throughout the entire read. I loved getting both sides of the story, male and female. I felt like we really got to know our characters because of it. There was only one small thing that I kind of took, idk even know how to explain how I felt about it, but it didn't deter me from loving the book. I won't say what it was, but it didn't have to do with the relationship. It was an outside force on the female lead character. Overall, I very much enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend reading it.

Read this book in one day!

This is one of the best hockey romance book I have read! It is different, the characters are so likeable and even the other subplots in the story are good. Zoey is homeless and meets Ryan at a coffee shop. What transpires is she helps him with his computer, they become friends and progress into a relationship. What I liked about the book is that the author breaks the stereotype of the professional athlete and also of a homeless person. Ryan becomes just the homegrown boy who plays hockey. Zoey is smart and motivated to do better but is having a hard time getting over her homeless situation. Ryan sees the good in her and takes a chance. Ryan and Zoey have moved to the top of my favorite couple list. Lots of depth to them and I was rooting for them from page one. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

Growing together to achieve goals

I was blown away by Ryan and Zoey honestly. Zoey has had such a hard life, and she isn't the most trusting of Ryan when he helps her, but Ryan is a good guy to the core. I do wish there was more communication between the two with everything that happens in the latter half of the book because some things could have been helped with just better communication, but I guess that's all part of the story, and no one is perfect. I do love how you see both Ryan and Zoey grow in this, Zoey figures how to stand on her own two feet, and goes from being homeless to being stable. Ryan goes from being the traded Rookie to a friend and valuable member of the team, they both help each other achieve that, and that's really fun to see as that's what a relationship should be, helping the other one grow, and not holding one back from achieving their full potential. I can't wait to continue reading about these characters, this hockey team has so much potential for so many stories.

I enjoyed this far more than expected

I have read some good sports romances, but otherwise I am more of a PNR/SFR kinda gal. This one came recommended in a book group though, and it had such good overall reviews that I decided to give it a chance. I am glad I did! This book features strong, relatable characters, a good plot without too much angst or drama, and a slow-burn relationship that that I found myself believing in and rooting for. They were really cute together and I had fun watching their relationship change and develop. If you are someone looking for something really hot with a lot of sex, you will not find that here. This romance is on the sweeter side of the spectrum. I love stories like that so I wasn’t bothered, but someone else might be. Overall a great book, and I will be keeping this author in mind for future reads.

Love hockey hero

Ryan, hockey player that got transferred to Vancouver Wolves, still doesn't feel like he belongs there. His team hates him, doesn't interact with him due to his role in the action when their player Noah was badly hurt. When he struggles with his bills, a young punk rocker chick helps him to organize them as they should be. When he finds out that she is homeless, he invites her for the night to stay on his couch. After that night he thinks that he won't see her again. But when she was brutally attacked by another homeless man, they call him from the hospital. He takes her home. She doesn't want anything from him especially money and things. They make a plan to make a list of things she owes him. He discovers her love for Ikea furniture and that she is super good at decorating. She gets two more jobs for an accounting from his team members and then his accounter calls for her help. But there are also mean characters: his new PA, a stuck up blonde Bianca, who thinks that Ryan belongs to her, and her ex-foster dad Terrance, who wants money. I loved this book. I loved how a chance at a better life transformed Zoey and how Ryan changed when she was around. Even his teammates gave him a chance due to her bright spirit. Highly recommending this series.

Hockey player with a heart of gold

I picked up this book after reading a teaser that was out there, the whole idea of a millionaire professional hockey player putting himself out there to help this homeless girl was compelling to me. I was curious to see how it was written. I was more than a little worried that he was going to basically invite her to move in on the day they met each other, and I was thankful that isn’t what ended up happening, it made it more believable. Zoey was an orphan who grew up in foster care after her parents died, and it wasn’t an easy childhood, but things are a lot harder now that she has aged out and is homeless. She has a job and works hard, but it isn’t enough to keep a roof over her head. I really liked Zoey. She’s kind of a contradiction in that she’s so guarded and in a way kind of hard because she has to protect herself living out on the street (she even adopts a punk persona as a way to keep herself safer), but at the same time she also very sweet, in some ways naive and innocent. I liked seeing her learn to let her guard down and let people into her life. The friendships she forms, the joy she finds from simply going to ikea, all these little things were just so enjoyable to read. As for our hero, Ryan, he’s very enjoyable to read. I mean the givens here are that he is a hot professional athlete. But he’s also a really good guy. His trade to his new team was not one he wanted, and he went from his team being his family to his new team treating him like public enemy number one. That whole storyline is enjoyable to read. But him being so isolated is probably what opens him up to being available to really help Zoey, invite her into his life, and get to know her. I think one of the things I really loved about this book, is this is not some hero savior romance, I easily could have turned out to be that, but it wasn’t. Ryan never steamrollers over Zoey, and while he undoubtedly helps her, he more gives her the tools to help herself. I loved how much he put her first, how he respected her wishes, and how he was protective of her (but not in an overbearing fashion). Honestly, this book was just enjoyable to read. I think it was a combination of the characters, the story, and the writing style. I look forward to reading more of this author in the future.

A sweet hero and down-on-her-luck heroine must work to find happiness together..

This book was different than many other sports romances I've read thus far as it deals with serious--almost dark--subject matters, ie. homelessness and sexual assault by a guardian. But despite the obstacles surrounding them, Ryan and Zoey were such amazing MCs whose strength and optimism bled across the pages and soaked into my soul. Zoey is so timid and unsure in the beginning of the novel, but Ryan's gentle and genuine sincerity slowly helps her learn to trust again. Their evolving relationship and tenuous arrangement is further complicated by Zoey's darkened past and Ryan's prolific career, and they must each decide how far they are willing to go for a chance at true happiness. The beginning half of this novel was perfection for me. Ryan is such a sweetheart, and I loved his gentle soul and how he treated Zoey with respect despite her situation. In turn, I loved watching Zoey gain confidence in herself and interact with those around her. I didn't love the OM drama that was thrown in with one of Ryan's teammates, especially since Zoey reciprocated the interest (I'm a one-man hero kind of gal). However, my biggest complaint is how fast the villain of the story was vanquished. He was a pretty important driving force during the middle of the novel, then he disappeared for a while, only to pop up randomly at the end and dealt with all in one chapter. I feel the author took the easy way out with him and used him simply as a way to bring the two MCs back together again. Hell, I thought Bianca was a better villain as she was an outright conniving witch. Overall however, this was an enjoyable and memorable read for me. I'd recommend this for readers who are looking for a more serious take on a traditional sports romance and who enjoy a simple and concise writing style from the author.

wow

This was a really cool book that really captures the point that you never know where your love will find you. It starts with Zebenia helping Ryan and quickly thereafter with Ryan feeling compelled to help her when he realizes that she needs him. There is so much good going on in this. The help is there, then they go on to be roommates, they kind of need one another, friends and then a slow burn towards romance. Both Ryan and Zoey were great characters and their story had all the feels. I can't wait to read the next story in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved Zoey and Ryan

I really enjoyed this book! Zoey was such a different kind of character than you usually see in these romance books, which is the thing that made me really like the book. Only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars was the part of the story from chapter 30 until everything is resolved near the end. *spoiler*. The misunderstanding where Zoey thinks Ryan is just dumping her, when he is really giving her time to make it on her own. I just didn’t feel like it would take so long to finally get back together. That long span of time with no real communication seemed unrealistic. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Slow burn hockey romance

Home Game is the second book in the Vancouver Wolves series by Odette Stone. It is a standalone romance and you do not need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this book. This is a love story across the classes. A billionaire heir and the orphan living on the streets. This is a slow burn with a friends to lovers feel. Zoey is a sweet girl with a little spunk, used to taking care of herself and struggling to accept help. Ryan is a genuinely good guy just trying to help. They fall hard for each other and have to find a way to make their love work across all their differences and dangers. I really liked Ryan’s character and his good heart. His inability to communicate effectively made him that much more real.

Love It!

This is the first book by Odette Stone I've read but it definitely won't be my last. Her writing is raw with no punches pulled when it comes to the hard subjects. Love that! Her characters are well thought out, relatable, believable. I love the growth Zoey goes through, even if she fights it tooth and nail in the beginning. I couldn't help root for her. Ryan is the perfect book boyfriend, drool worthy both physically and sexually. Hot! Both MCs have their emotional baggage to work through. Watching them work through it kept me turning pages until the wee hours of the morning. An emotional, some times cute, some times angsty read that manages to not go crazy on the "woe is me". By the time I finished Home Game had become one of my favorite reads. A book I will definitely be reading again more than once.

I loved this book and I have no idea what to say about it

I loved this book and I have no idea what to say about it. It’s sweet and adorable and precious and dark and angsty and emotional – it might be quicker for me just to say that it was a bit of an emotional roller-coaster ride by the end. Zoey and Ryan are anything but typical and I think that’s a large part of what made me love them so much. They’re not the lead characters you expect to read: they’re real and human and down to earth. Living in one of the hockey towns mentioned in this book, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to run into Ryan or Zoey on the street, and I feel like I could have an amazing conversation with either one of them. I’m falling deeper in love with this cast of characters and I can’t wait to see what’s next for them. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

I found a sport to love

I just recently discovered this author and devoured everything she wrote within a month. EVERYTHING. There is something about her writing style that calls to me. Her characters are real and not over the top. They all have a sense of humility that despite their wealth, or sometimes lack of it, it still comes across as genuine and real. She creates a scene that is authentic to the storyline and is never completely outlandish. There is a depth to her stories. I was beyond excited to read this book. I know nothing about Hockey. Hell, to be honest, I know nothing about sports except baseball. It has never appealed to me but this author made me fall in love with a sport that I know nothing about and still had me understanding the gist of it. A lot of the time in sports romance I have to skim over the sports parts because I have no desire to read something I don't have any interest in. Yet, I didn't do that in this book or the first standalone in this series. I think largely because she writes it in a way that makes it exciting and doesn't feel like it is being forced on me. Her stories have substance to them and characters that seem to leap off the pages. Ryan and Zoey are my favorite characters to date of all her characters ever written. This was a complex situation but I loved that it progressed slowly and that trust was integral in developing this story. It was not a fast instant-love relationship by any means which made me cherish it that much more. They seemed to awaken something missing in each other's lives and offered so much more than a typical friendship. The anticipation and build up in their relationship had me almost begging my kindle to make it happen sooner than it did and when it finally did. It was perfect timing for them and I realize I needn't have cussed out the author for making them wait so long. The side characters were fantastic as well. I need stories from all of them. Krista, Mica, Jensen, and even Justin all need their stories and I hope that they get the chance to do that. I implore anyone that has not read this author to start now. She is truly one of those unicorn authors that will leave you with your mouth agape, a smile on your face, and warm fuzzy feelings when the book is over.

Loved both Zoey and Ryan!

Wow, I really loved both Zoey and Ryan. Zoey is struggling as a homeless young woman working to survive on fast food wages. Ryan is a pro hockey player and star. He feels compassion for her and tries to help her. This is a slow burn between two worthy characters. I really liked both of them. I don’t want to share any spoilers but Ryan gives Zoey and hand up and push to become a strong independent woman who can be his equal. The secondary characters are likable, except for two “villains” who add some drama to the plot. There is plenty of heat too! I enjoyed this unique plot while also being a sports romance. Recommend! And now I’m looking forward to more Wolves stories by Stone.

All of the feels.

Ryan and Zoey gave me all the feels. Home Game is honestly just a sweet hockey hero romance with a smidge of angst. Zoey is homeless and struggling. Ryan is a huge hockey start that’s new in town, and is also struggling.. in his own way. They need each other but don’t know it yet. So essentially this story is girl helps boy. Boy saves girl. They unexpectedly click and fit. Banter, banter, banter. Swoon, swoon, swoon. Roommates. “Just friends.” Slow burn romance ensues. Sigh. I can’t with these two. Such a great read, with such a great cast of characters! Honestly if you enjoy sports hero romance, then you will love this read. It fits into the classic mold, but also has the unique voice of Odette Stone, which takes Home Game to the next level. Loving this authors work so far and can’t wait to see what she gives us next!

A laugh out loud, sweet but Steamy Hockey Romance.

From the first page Ryan is struggling to fit in to his new hometown after recently being traded to the Vancouver Wolves he finds himself trying to piece his life together when he meets Zoey in a coffee shop. Zoey who has not had the best of luck from life and finds herself reaching out to help the frustrated stranger with his work. After a couple of mishaps she finds herself needing more help from the handsome stranger and though a series of events finds herself living with the up and coming hockey star. As they get to know one another more and more the feelings start to grow and the lines get blurred from Roommate to more and after a huge misunderstanding she finds herself trying to learn who she is and what she wants while Ryan realizes he may have just lost the best thing that ever happened to him. This story will make you laugh out loud as well as rip your heart out but in the end the HEA of this story is one worth the entire ride. I wish it was longer and their story would continue on and on and on. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. This author is worth every minute and you cannot put this book down once you start. I highly recommend if you want something sweet, spicy, sexy, and funny. A must read for anyone looking for their HEA.

A five star sports romance

Home Game: A Vancouver Wolves Hockey Romance, Book 2 by author Odette Stone. I didn’t think anything could top book one. Well was I wrong. The characters Zoey and Ryan were a match made in heaven. Zoey carried this storyline. Her innocence, spunk, directness of dialogue was so fresh that I too wanted to protect her from people like Bianca. The storyline did revolve around the players and what happens when a new guy comes in with such a different reaction from his teammates. One mate, Mica steps forward and extends the hand of friendship to Ryan. Mica is not your usual meathead type player. He is more sensitive and takes on a big brother role with Zoey. It’s good getting a lot of info on Mica as the next book in this series features him. Highly recommending this book and the series for fun and enjoyment and, I am leaving this review for your consideration.

Unlikely love

Spoiler alert!! These books have me wanting to find a hockey player. Sweet Ryan was a girl's dream. He was attentive, caring, gentle while being protective, strong and sexy af. I always hated that quote if you love something let it go, but it was definitely what was needed for Zoey to flourish. Sweet Zoey had a very hard life. She was barely surviving but her disposition was bright. She seemed to ooze goodness and was so kind to others. Throughout the whole book I couldn't understand why Ryan didn't just make Zoey his PA, that seemed like the most practical thing to do...but I get it drama needed and it was not her passion. This book was longer, but I didn't mind it. It really help me feel Ryan's angst and torment as well as respect his stance even though it was poorly executed. At first I felt for Zoey, but then I became more and more proud of her. She was blooming into a beautiful flower learning to trust herself and to stand on her own. I really felt this book.

All the feels

So in love with this series and I’m SO dang excited for her next book “Dark Russian Angel” to come out! These books are standalones but revolve around the Vancouver Wolves Hockey Team, so you will see character cross-overs. These books are heavy on the romance, steam, drama, and hits you right in the feels. The main FMC killed me in this book, so much emotion for the life she’s had to live. There was only one thing I didn’t like... our FMC seemed like such a sassy bad*ss in the beginning, I mean she’s survived living on the streets, but when it came to Ryan’s PA I felt like she had no backbone at all and let that psycho walk all over her. Where did that tough as nails rocker chick go? It didn’t ruin the story for me, by any means, I just wish she didn’t seem like such a punching bag for Bianca because that’s not the vibe she gave off in the beginning. Other than that, excellent book! I’m READY for our Russians story now, so please hurry up Odette 😜

Whew this book had me going

This book had me cursing the characters and wishing I was in it to hurt some people. I knew Bianca's game before the interview ended and her bullying of Zoey had me hot (whenever a book has me this way it's a winner in my eyes). I understand Zoey grew up without guidance and direction but she had me screaming "I'll be glad when you grow a pair and how long before your balls drop, stop letting her bully you" . when she fired her and then they had that fight I'm not gonna lie, it was a proud moment for me. Ryan is an amazing guy who like most guys is a little slow on the uptake. He's was ticking me off because it took awhile to catch on concerning Bianca and her manipulative ways then he had to wonder if he was assessing the situations correctly. Bottom line this is a great book with my coveted HEA

A beautiful story of love and friendship

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I loved this book. It is a beautiful romance but also a story about friendship and the people you bring into your life who make it so much better. Zoey has spent most of her life in foster care and is homeless when she meets Ryan. It is heartbreaking to read because you know that there are lots of Zoeys out there in the world who do not have the chance to change their circumstances. Ryan has a kind heart and decides he has to help her. Their feelings grow and evolve as Zoey is given the opportunity to spread her wings. Just a beautiful story all around. I quickly read the first book in this series before I read this one. I really liked that book too. It gives you a bit of background but it is not necessary to read the first one to enjoy this one.

Great Read!

In Home Game, book two in her Vancouver Wolves Hockey series, Odette Stone brings another top-notch romance to the pages. Ms. Stone takes on some heavy subject matter in Home Game while still managing not to diminish the romantic side of her work. The hero and heroine were deftly portrayed as two genuinely good people on the opposite ends of the good fortune spectrum. How this author brought them together and built their relationship was caring and showed considerable skill in creating a scenario where these destined characters could find love with each other. Ryan is the type of hero it is hard not to fall for with his sexy exterior housing a huge heart. Zoey screamed out for love even as she bled it with every interaction she had, making her impossible to resist to both Ryan and readers alike. With just as many charming moments as there were serious, Ms. Stone kept her story moving with well timed dramatic flair. There is an all around depth to this author's writing that easily displays all the feelings she is trying to convey. This work was well developed with a great cast of secondary characters that stood out without taking the spotlight away from the leads. Odette Stone brings an abundance of talent to her readers in Home Game with the added promise of more great stories to follow! *While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*

All the feels

This one was an emotional roller coaster. Ryan has an amazing heart of gold and he steps up for Zoey. This is a slow burn novel. Ryan is such a Boy Scout throughout that I kind of wanted to smack him a couple of times. He was always so considerate of Zoey that I could not understand how he screwed up the way he did. I get that this was necessary to have a healthy relationship, but I am not sure I would have been able to move on from that. Overall, I loved the book. The characters drew me in and made me read late into the night. This book was the first one I read and I had to go back and read Max and Rory’s story. Now on to Mica!

Loved it! Couldn’t put it down! Almost got in trouble at work over this book...

I could not put this down! I did not want to work today and kept sneaking it to the restroom just to read a few more pages! I got home tonight, skipped my workout and binged it until I finished and now I am finally going to make dinner now that it’s almost bedtime 🤦🏼♀️ Compelling characters, they make you love them! Zoey is so strong willed and I constantly fought tears for her internal battles with her pride! Ryan.... oh Ryan. I need a man like him in my life. Well, I just plain need a man in my life, and reading about men like him make it hard to find one to match him! Thank you for a great story and for wonderful characters to fall in love with. Even the teammates became great friends- and I can’t wait to read more about them!

Ryan and Zoey - 5 Stars

A Review of Home Game by Odette Stone Ryan and Zoey - 5 Stars If you read the first book in this series, then you may remember Ryan. We also see the GM, Mark Ashford and his daughter, Rory, who was one of the major characters from the first book. I ABSOLUTELY loved Zoey and how she does her best to stand on her own two feet, without asking for anything from others. The characters were well defined and the chemistry between Zoey and Ryan was sweet. Granted, there were times when I wanted to reach out and smack both of them, but that's what makes such great characters. Well worth taking the time to read and enjoy! Looking forward to seeing which character the next book will be about. ********** **Honest review voluntarily provided from a Complimentary Copy**

Another SCORE

I loved Zoey and Ryan's sexy, sweet story! I loved their characters, individually and, of course, together their chemistry sets the pages and panties on fire. I think Zoey was brilliantly written as a bit of an enigma, as a nonconfrontational young woman who is homeless and living on the streets but still has an endearing innocence that made me wonder how she had survived this long. I enjoyed watching her evolve with Ryan's, as well as Krista's, care, focus and attention, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching their relationship prickly -at the beginning- relationship progress to HEA despite those who would tear them apart!

A fantastic book

This was truly a great book. I absolutely love when an author actually writes a story instead chapter after chapter of s3x. The plot made sense, even the last quarter of the book. I generally dislike when a couple does what happened but it really made sense. Plus it didn't go on for years. That probably sounds very ambiguous but I don't want to spoil the plot. Let me tell you all the characters are pretty darn awesome, I wish real life was the same. I really liked both MCs. Zoey was good mix of tough and vulnerable. I 100% recommend this book. It reminded me why I love romance novels. I read this through KU.

Wow!!

This is my first read from this author and let me tell you, it won’t be the last! It’s been a while since I’ve finished a book in one sitting. No kidding, I finished this book at 5am!! I just couldn’t put it down! I cannot describe how much I loved Ryan. His kind heart, his protectiveness and his vulnerable side were just a perfect combo! Zoey was fierce, although she lost some of the feistiness along the way, especially with Bianca but I understand her lack of self esteem. I really enjoyed her banter with Ryan, especially at first. This story had everything: drama, heartbreaking angst, great banter, and issues were resolved in a believable way. The rest of the characters were awesome! Krista is the bomb and the rest of the team. I am running along to read Mica’s story! Bye!!

Better than I could have expected.

I got hooked on the preview. Having read the other books in the hockey series, I knew I was in for an emotional rollercoaster on steroids. I took 4 days to read the book. I needed time to reflect on what had happened. Krista's mother worked my last nerve and actually gave me insomnia. The characters were great, the story engaging, the sex was HOT, and the editing exceptional (a personal pet peeve). Would have like a little more about Krista's dad, but more importantly, I would love a few minutes alone with her mother! A great book! Now I will have to re-read the other books. My man Mika. Hot damn!

This book was a 3.5 for me the story line was great but there where aspects I couldn't believe and I put those aspects at the end of my review

The beginning of this story had me hooked like a fish on a pole. I swore last book I wasn't going to read anymore into this series because I already read book 4, then book 1 and this is book 2 in the series .They all end in the same way and all the sex scenes happen at the end of the books the epilogue is months later I want to know what happened years later. I don't know if I'm going to read Mica's story . No way do I believe Ryan who's a athlete who trains hard went 8 months without a sexual encounter. Why would Zoey go 8 months not talking to Ryan when he was a friend first doesn't make any sense .

A must read swoon worthy romance!

I have been binge reading this series since I first discovered it last night and I haven’t stopped. This second book was a wonderful addition in the sports genre. Ryan’s character is so swoon worthy that you can’t help but fall in love with his sweetness, generosity and how he falls hard for Zoey. Their chemistry was so cute and watching them blossom together was so heart warming. I enjoyed the well written storyline and the likable characters that made for an entertaining romance story from start to finish. Can’t wait from more of this series that gets better and better.

Hockey hotness

I loved Zoey and Ryan. Zoey’s mistrust, shame and concern about her place with Ryan and in the world was sadly earned. Ryan is a Boy Scout but doesn’t understand how far he’s going for Zoey. I’m not sure the Jensen side plot was necessary but then would Ryan have ever admitted his feelings? Not sure. I hope Jensen finds his happy ending soon. The hockey scenes were snappy and I loved seeing a hockey newbie fall in love with the sport. And I liked the exploration of hockey chemistry and how off ice emotions effect the on ice game. Also, covid thoughts here but I miss hockey.

Heartwarming story

This was such a heartwarming story. Ryan is hockey’s bad boy with a heart of absolute gold. He fights on the ice, hates being in Vancouver where he was traded to and doesn’t get along with his team members. However, one day he meets Zoey, a homeless rocker girl and he just wants to help. He doesn’t know why he wants to help but he has a need to. And the best part is, it isn’t because of physical attraction- he is doing the good thing. This is a slow burn romance and Zoey’s love of all things IKEA speaks to me (humorously). She has a beautiful personality and I really liked her so with two awesome characters to lead and then a fantastic supporting cast, I really loved this book. Some angst and suspense towards the last third of the book rounded out the story. You did not need to read the first book of the series at all to read this book.

Home Game

This is a great book, that isn't the typical Hockey romance novel with a unique storyline. It follows Ryan, who is a professional Hockey player newly living and playing in Vancouver. Zoey is a homeless woman, and when their paths cross they have a connection that is difficult to describe. Fast forward, and Zoey is in a bad spot, and Ryan is there to help her out. While her intentions could seem nefarious, she doesn't want the handouts that Ryan is able to provide. She is determined to be her own woman, earn what she achieves, and not take actions that ever appear that she is using Ryan for anything. In her determination to find independence, and Ryan's need to care for Zoey, they are able to build a relationship that is not the result of one needing the other. I really enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to more from this author. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ryan and Zoey

While Max Logan made my heart beat faster, Ryan Parker made my heart skip a beat. This entire book leaving up to the last few chapters was foreplay. I love how gentle this giant was with this pixie woman. Zoey is my new favorite heroine. She has been through so much and she's still standing on her own. She doesn't pity herself and doesn't use what happened to her to manipulate or use other people. She's just that pure and I love that about her. I've read several of Odette's books and she hasn't disappointed me. There's so much emotion and dialogue between the characters that keep you captivated. I can't wait to read what she comes up with next.

Loved it

I loved everything about this book. I was so into it that when I wasn’t reading it I couldn’t wait to get back to it. Oh my goodness sweet giving Ryan. What a great guy he is. What woman would t want a Ryan in her life even just as a friend. Rorey was so adorable and vaunerable yet she was also strong and determined. Her innocent honesty was so refreshing that she was easy to love. I have read both books in this series and I’m looking forward to Mica’s story. All the feels!

I haven't found a book that lets you live through all the emotions and relationship development with characters in a long time. That's what this book does. Definitely a slow progression but good pacing in developing our characters and their relationships. Ryan is such a tender heart...love jim. Zoey is sweet, honest and genuine. Total slow burn. The only reason I gave 4 stars because towards 75% of the story we get the twist In the story. Necessary? Yes. Did it need to drag on as long as it did? No. Overall was it a good read? Definitely worth it. Will I read another hockey book in the series? For sure.

Ryan and Zoey!

Ryan is a hockey player who has been traded to the Vancouver Wolves and finds himself on the outside trying to fit in because of an incident in the past. Zoey was raised in foster care and now finds herself homeless with minimal income. A chance meeting at a coffeeshop when she helps him out and ends up spending the night on his couch. A few weeks later fate throws them together once again and what starts out as roommates evolves into two people who have found what they have always wanted in each other. Humorous banter, hot chemistry and emotion as two opposites find love in the most unlikely way. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Zoey and Ryan ❤❤❤

If you were to paint a perfect book boyfriend, it would be Ryan. Hockey playing, farm raised, family centered man who admits his faults (technology) and treats women, strike that, everyone, with respect. And Zoey... talk about a female lead that will grasp your heart strings and not let go! Her obsession with ikea was hilarious, her grounded nature worked well with Ryan's more "well whatever, buy everything" kind of attitude - reminding him that needs come before wants when you dont have much. HATED the PA. I get that THAT was the point but wowsers...good heal character. Krista was a delight like always, and it was good to see Mica take such a prominent role as both Ryan and Zoeys friend ❤ can't wait for his story in book 3!

Great Story

Ryan is a professional hockey player trying to make it on his own. He is trying to work on his computer and is having problems. Zoey helps him and Ryan thanks her by offering her a ride. Zoey agrees to stay with him because she has no other place to go. Ryan is trying to make a good impression with his teammates. Zoey gets hurt and Ryan offers her a place to stay while she recovers. Ryan and Zoey become friends. In order to move the relationship to the next level Zoey needs to provide for her self. Zoey is hurt when Ryan tells her she needs to move. Will Zoey forgive Ryan and allow him back in her life? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book has it all!!!!!

What a book!! Odette really knows how to get you invested in the characters and their lives. The book grips you from the first page and doesn't let go. How it started, you hoped for a HEA, but the way that Ryan and Zoey had to get there - OMG!!!! This book has it all, from it starting with them as strangers to friends to lovers and everything in between. All the supporting characters added to the story. Can't wait to read the next one. Definitely a 12 out of 10!!!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Unexpected...

Ryan and Zoey romance was so unexpected that I think it even surprised them. Zoey was homeless but not hopeless. She had been alone for far too many years but by chance she was in the right place at the right time to help Ryan. Bad boy hockey p!ayer Ryan was struggling with inputting his receipts for his accountant but kept hitting the wrong keys until Zoey stepped in and helped him. Circumstances kept throwing them together and a bond was formed which turned into a magical love affair.

Learning to trust!

Hockey player Ryan Parker didn’t want to be traded to Vancouver since his hit during a game had taken out one of their player’s during a game but he was trying to mesh with the team. He met Zoey Petrik at a café while he was entering his receipts for his accountant and she helped him even though she was homeless. Ryan and Zoey were and interesting couple because Ryan lets her stay at his place and Zoey wanted to be independent but Ryan slowly grew on her. After she moved out later in the story because he knew she needed to be able to stand on her own feet and not put in a box. P.S. I’m looking forward to Mica’s story!

A great read!

Wow. This was a beautiful book. Ryan Parker is traded to the Vancouver Wolves and he's a bit in over his head with his personal life. He meets Zoey at a coffee shop where she helps him with his computer issues and they hit it off right away. She is absolutely not his type. No way. She's homeless, for one. She's all sharp and spiky and angsty and he's a pretty smooth stone. Plus, he could get anyone he wants. But he's just so so nice... I really loved their relationship and how it slowly morphed from feeling an obligation to love. Zoey was so quirky and raw and Ryan was... well, NICE. Very fun, fast paced romance that I'd totally recommend.

Zoey & Ryan

I loved, loved this book. I think I went through a box of tissues. At one point I had to stop reading because I got so emotional. Ryan & Zoey meet in the strangest way. Isn’t that the way the most beautiful love stories begin? Ryan made her miss her bus and that changed everything. I’m not great at writing reviews but, this book took my breath away. So many different aspects happened that I never coming. I can’t wait to read Mica’s story next. A Must Read. It’s on KU right now.

LOVED IT

Loved this second book in the Vancouver Wolves series , Ryan and Zoey make a great couple even though they have some ups and downs on their way to their HEA , it's well written with a great storyline that grips you from the first page through to the last with the heartbreak of Zoey's upbringing and her struggles in life and Ryan's move to the Wolves who don't accept him at first , with great characters , drama , ups and downs , an evil foster dad , some sexy scenes and so much more , a must read from Odette and can't wait for Mica's story I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Different than most romances

5 stars for Home Game by Odette Stone. This is book 2 in The Vancouver Wolves Series. This is a standalone even though it is part of the series. This is a sports romance that is also a friends to lovers story. Ryan is a professional hockey player who was recently traded to a new team. He isn’t really wanted on this new team at first but he has to make it work. Ryan is known for being too generous and is a nice guy. Zoey is homeless and is struggling to get through each day. When these two meet in a coffee shop Zoey helps Ryan so then Ryan decides to help her. They develop a friendship that soon turns into more. They are both different so can they survive their differences. Ryan is an amazing book boyfriend.

Great story with lots of healing, steam and a HEA

Ryan and Zoey's story is full of suspense, love, laughter, evil intentions, and ultimately a HEA that is so worth it! The two meet, Ryan is new in town on his new hockey team, and Zoey is homeless. He gives her his card after letting her crash at his house one night. When she ends up in the hospital, they call Ryan. He hates to see her so abused and has her move in with him while she recovers. His new PA interferes in their relationship, but these two end up together - to each other's benefit. Great story! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am galdly leaving my review.

Fantastic don’t miss this story

I don’t even know where to start. I loved this story. I couldn’t put it down. The characters were relatable and real. You have Ryan this hockey player who is still down to earth even though he makes a lot of money who has a chance meeting with Zoey, who has been down on her luck for a while and finds it hard to trust. Through a horrible event the two end up living together. Slowly they become part of each other’s lives. It was great to see these two come together. I cannot wait for the next characters from this author. This is the first book of hers I have read and I cannot recommend it more. You will not be disappointed. ~Coming home~

When hockey star Ryan Parker, the most recent NHL trade to the Vancouver Wolves, finds himself wondrously rescued on his laptop with just a few strokes while doing taxes in a cafe, he did not know just how much his life was about to change. An outcast on his own team, Ryan’s life becomes entangled with the prickly and independent enigma and scrap of a girl named Zoey. Soon, helping her was all he wanted to do, even though his body was clamoring for much more. Zoey’s story will sweep you along, as will the heat which grows between these two unlikely paired outcasts.

Wow! What a terrific read

This author is new for me and I am so happy I found her. This story was so well developed. I found myself rooting for these characters wanting them to succeed. You could feel their chemistry and they absolutely had the slow burn for one another. I love a good alpha male that is super protective and will go any lengths to take care of his lady. I highly recommend you pick this book up today. You won’t be disappointed. I will absolutely be reading more books from this author.

Don’t trust negative reviews!

I’m not denying that negative reviews aren’t sometimes a fair warning when it comes to books from new authors. However, I read a negative review on Home Game, and I’m so glad I decided to “peek” inside the book before dismissing it. This book is great. It’s just a perfect build-up and release of tension, again and again. Everything is satisfying. There were moments when I thought that “ok, can’t we get passed this” but even that agitation was soothed. I got some misinformation on this book from a review and now I’m never trusting them again. The story was so cute. I loved Ryan and Zoey, and even though I haven’t read the first book in the series, I’m moving directly towards Micah. Loved him, so I can’t wait to read his story. I’ll go back and read the first one later, these are definitely stand alone novels and there are no cliffhangers. (Oh and good love scenes)

5STAR 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 WINNER

This book is a true delight!! Odette Stone Has given us 2 GREAT Characters in Zoey and Ryan. She has a terrific ability in having her characters deal with such issues as homelessness, aging out of Foster care and rape!! Ryan and Zoey deal with this while dealing with moving to a new area for Ryan and how he need to fit into a new team!!! Wow right I know she pulls all of this together in a wonder if a book while characters from other books in the series help it along. READ ENJOY I KNOW I DID!!!!
