God used this book to draw me back into fellowship with him. Wendy's story, the scripture she used and her words of healing grabbed my heart and attention. I'm forever grateful for Wendy's faithfulness to tell her story. I'm reading her book "I am loved" at the moment...I recommend both books! Wendy has other books and I want to read each one because it seems God uses her to speak to my heart.

Really good book! It gives me practice things I can try when things are very upsetting to me. The first chapter is challenging to get through emotionally. But it sets the stage for all the other chapters, because she refers back to it allot. She also gives practice ideas to handle just about anything! This is a book I know I will read over and over! She gives scriptures that will stay with me forever so I too can use it. No matter what your going through, this book will give you practice things to do and make your problem seem not so bad. I recommend this very highly! It’s hard to stop reading it and put it down. Enjoy it! 👍👏

As an abuse survivor, i found this book very helpful. When darkness enters your life, you desperately seek to understand. Understanding isn't always possible but purpose and gory to God is. Wendy comes alongside you and walks you through the process God took her through to help you find healing, hope, purpose, and the God who stands with you through it all. Highly recommend!

Absolutely one of the most encouraging books. Heartbreaking and Heartwarming. A courageous woman who shares candidly about her fears, her faith and her love for God.

What I liked most about this book is the refreshing truth Wendy offers as she explains what she went through and how it effects the life she now chooses to live. We all have skeletons in our closets...how we use them in growth and relationship determines how we see our own faith, and can truly impact the lives of others around us.

This book has been really good so far. I am using it in an online bible study and it has truly opened my eyes to some things. If you are looking for an easy to understand, down to earth book on being joyful during trials and tribulations, this is the perfect book.

I read this book during my one week vacation. It was a quick & easy read. She did a great job expressing her story & showing her vulnerability & God's sovereign power in your life on her road to healing. There are study questions in the back, so this book could be easily done a a several week long study or for a book club if you didn't want to read it by yourself. Also, Wendy is a part of Proverbs31 Ministries, so you know that she is solid.

This book was amazing to read during a time that I had been struggling with some sexual assaults that had happened to myself over a decade ago. Even while reading I could feel Satan whispering "See you don't have it as bad as she did" but through this book, counseling, my supportive husband and church, and most importantly through God's precious word I am at a place where true healing has begun. It's a long road still but I'm just so thankful to have read this when I did. I know the Lord used it in a mighty way in my life. And to read about Wendy's passion for Gods word and prayer has ignited the same for me. I highly recommend this book!

All of us have had experiences in life that make us question our faith. I didn't have the same experience as the author but I learned much about my own faith walk in reading about hers. You will cry, but also find much joy in knowing Jesus and his love for all of us!

This is a powerful book. Written by Wendy and told from her personal and emotional perspective of one that walked the dark paths of sexual assault and finding healing, light and life from her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the only way to receiving healing and wholeness after the shame and darkness placed upon the victim of sexual assault.

Wendy Blight points out the joy that God offers everyone of His children, even after traumatic events, in a way that is believeable and achievebale.

The book is great... wanted to know more of wendy's story.. she's been one of my favorite bible study writers and with first 5. The book came appearing new but the cover was dirty, sticky and had rings from a drink on it.

I just finished reading this book as part of a Bible study with the Proverbs 31 ministry. I so appreciate Wendy sharing her story and her path to find God. Full of scripture and truth. Stirs a new song in my heart!

Within the first five minutes of reading this book I knew that God had placed it in my hands for a reason. I love the transperancy and realness of this author. I cried through most of the book as I felt that God was speaking to me personally. This book is a must read for any woman who has lost hope, needs encouragement, is suffering, in bondage, or anyone who may be struggling in their spiritual life..

I knew by the title and description of this book it was going to be a game changer. I had signed up to do a bible study with Proverbs 31 ministries. When I got the book I read it in 2 days. It helped me a lot with questions I had about why God had allowed my abuse to happen. The story is powerful and how Wendy Blight walks through and works out her rape is incredible.

Awesome book. Couldnt put it down once I started and I'm not much of a reader. Great scripture reference. Anyone with any kind of stronghold would benefit from this story.

Wendy offers a raw and honest look at what happens when life goes terribly wrong. Using the Bible as her plumb line, she gently reminds the reader where true redemption and wholeness can be found.

I really, really enjoyed this book. It was very encouraging to me to read how the author herself, after going through a horrific tragedy, opened up to God's Word and let Jesus Christ shine his love, blessings, and hope to a woman who thought her future was going to forever be filled with despair and hopelessness. I loved how the woman expressed her feelings in such a true way (she didn't try to sugar-coat any part of how she felt towards the rapist or her own feelings while and after he took advantage of her). I really recommend this book to anyone, not just those who think they'll always be a victim of such an incident, but to all who are going through any trial in which they know they can use some encouragement.

Full of truth from the Bible taking on the journey of healing. I found the story to be easy to read as well as relatable and her process through healing enlightening. I highly recommend to others especially those who’ve been through a traumatic experience.

Wendy shares about her heart-breaking rape and how God used her journey back to help others. This is a must read for anyone suffering from past abuse or hurt.

Every living person will benefit from this book. Would be a wonderful personal gift, but you need to read it first.

Transparent and moving account of one woman's journey from fear to faith. Amazing insight into how the Word of God can set us free.

Although my experiences were quite different from the author's, who was raped as a college student, this book was such an encouragement to me. I first read this book when I checked it out from the library; but I wanted my own copy and I even purchased another copy for a friend. The author writes as if she is speaking right to the reader, which makes it seem very personal. There is a section at the back of the book for reflection and study which is great for personal or group study. Little did I know that the day I checked this book out from the library, I would experience a difficult situation in my marriage. I don't believe it was an accident that I found this book, and it reminded me to put my trust in God no matter what my circumstances.

Rape victim story that shows how God can help heal through His word and others prayers and suggestions. Fleshed out her other book Living so that, a Bible study that resulted from her amazing growth with God. I did the Bible study on Prov 31 online.

Wendy shares from her heart like no other author has ever done. Her desire for you to see God at work in her life exceeds anything else.

I haven't even finished this book yet, but I have already learned so much. I've never been this drawn into a book that quotes so much scripture. She definitely has a gift for pulling it all together. She gives us an understanding of God's character and will for us in this world that can have so many highs and lows and more evil than we as humans can comprehend on our own. I will be recommending this book to others.

I bought this book after hearing about on the radio... I bought it for a friend who had been a victim of sexual assault when she was younger. She tells me I'm her angel for this book changed her life... She highly recommends it...she's passing it on to her daughter who is struggling with the same issues..

This book was amazing to read. If you allow yourself to really read it you find the tools needed to let go of stuff in your life and walk towards forgiveness and happiness. Many scripture readings to back up the reasons to forgive, but mostly it a gift to yourself to move on.

Amazing book. I advise to use along with study guide.

While Wendy’s story is not exactly mine, the shame, fear, and self-imposed emotional Prison is the same. I had to skip over Wendy's story as it was too much of a trigger for me, and I also sought other books on the power of prayer to help me overcome my chains in life. My past sexual abuse was affecting my marriage greatly. Just as Wendy says in her book though, it’s a process. It’s months, years, of God revealing Himself and bringing new levels of understanding and healing. His ways are not our ways. It’s been a year since I stepped out of my fear prison, got off my mat ready to be well, and I am now reading all these words by Wendy with “YES! Me too!” And celebrating what God has done in Wendy’s life and mine...and so many others. I was able to meet Wendy a few times as our paths have crossed, her spirit is so sweet and caring. Not a hint of fear, but radiates God's peace. Her writing and passionate prayers are full of life and God’s truth. Highly recommend this book! Maybe your story isn’t like Wendy’s, but it has practical application for anyone who struggles with fear, depression, anxiety, illness, addiction...anything that holds you back in life. She helps you know God’s character and how to keep your eyes on HIM!

I so wish I could give this book 4 stars. But the first chapter is something I cannot recommend to anyone. My recommendation? Skip the first chapter. I know she says that it's necessary to see how low she was to see what a great work God did when He brought her out of it. But it was way too much for my vivid imagination. I felt like I was vicariously living through her rape. And I can't imagine how much that first chapter would trigger those who have gone through something similar. So I think it's very plausible to start with Chapter Two. As to the rest, it was great! The paragraphs can get a little long and unbroken, not surprising for a book published in 2009. But the content is insightful and helpful, mostly. I really enjoyed digging deep into several passages of Scripture, particularly the stories of the lame man on the mat and the sisters Mary and Martha. I also appreciated most of the discussion questions, the Guide for Reflection and Study. Favorite quotes: “When I finished reading [John 5-6-9], Pastor Craig looked deep into my eyes and asked, 'Wendy, do you want to get well?' This time, although I thought it, I restrained from repeating what a stupid question. I responded with what I believed to be my honest answer. 'Of course I want to get well.' He gently said, 'I really don't think that you do.'” (I received this book for free. The decision to write a review, as well as the opinions expressed in it, are all my own. Wow! God really used Wendy’s book and her story to work in my heart! I have learned more of who God is and how wonderful He is! If you have experienced pain, hurt, and devastation in your life, I highly recommend reading Wendy’s story and how God showed Himself to her! He is faithful and can work in any situation. Praise God for His restoration!

Learning to trust again when something bad happens is the key to this book. God is the one thing that we can always rely on and learning to give everything to Him help us to make it through anything that this world may throw at us.

I invite you to read Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner. It's one of those books you might want to purchase a couple of - to give away and/or to have on hand. It should be in your local library and church library. Give one to your local rape crisis center. It's a must read book.

I learned about this book from an online Bible Study group and I am very glad that I joined and bought this book to read. Wendy's story is a wonderful and inspiring story! Wendy lays it all out for us to read and with every page and every emotion she describes it is easy to relate to her situation. Wendy uses Bible verses and wonderful life stories to show us how we can have a wonderful relationship with God, no matter what our past may hold. This book is wonderfully written and the reflection questions for each chapter really make you stop and think about your relationship with God. This book changed my life and truly brought me closer to God! Thank you Wendy for the courage to write your story to help others!

After being raped in college, Wendy struggles with fears, doubts, insecurities, and anxiety. Hidden Joy is the story of her journey through the valley to find that God had a plan for her pain - He intended to use it for good. While the beginning of the book has some intensely personal and sometimes hard to read sections, I found this book to be filled with Scripture and an incredible amount of hope. Because of her journaling habit, Wendy was able to walk us through her process of finding healing and show us how God was speaking to her through his Word. Her practical chapters on quiet times, prayer and abiding in Christ can apply to every Christian, not just those who have suffered some form of abuse.

Wow! This book is a must read. Wendy's story tells how God's Word can transform your heart, mind and spirit. Whether you are in a dark corner or not, this book helps answer tough questions about who God is and how we can know him more intimately. I am encouraged by Wendy's journey of faith, especially that it didn't happen overnight. By continuing to seek God in scripture over many years, He continued to reveal Himself to her. And her story shows that the more God reveals Himself, the easier it is to trust Him...to not just believe in God but believe God.

Thought I have just begun reading this book, I have found so many positive qualities. I cannot relate to her story, but this book has allowed me to take simple Scriptural principals and apply them to my own "demons in the closet." I find myself reading this very slowly because I want to stop and meditate on every Scriptural reference provided. Thank you for telling your story, so that I can help heal through mine.

A must read! Wendy's story is so beautifully woven with truth and grace. This book shows intimately how totally dependant we are on God. I can not wait to dig deeper into the scriptures through the study guide that is given in the back of the book. Her journey is so inspiring. I can't imagine not being a better person because of this book.

As a busy mom I have been a "Bible study dropout." I have not been able to complete the homework required of most Bible studies. I mean to get to sunday school, but sports or being up all night with my son's asthma gets in the way. This book allowed me to feel the power of God, prayer, and His word at my own pace.

Ordered the Kindle version since the paperback copy was sold out! I thought it was a very good book. I'll probably recommend it to a few friends. I ended up ordering the paperback book from P31 ministries, so I can do the Bible study. I loaned the book to someone when I got it, since I read the Kindle version quickly.
