'Welcome to the Knight Bus, emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard. Just stick out your wand hand, step on board and we can take you anywhere you want to go.' When the Knight Bus crashes through the darkness and screeches to a halt in front of him, it's the start of another far from ordinary year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter. Sirius Black, escaped mass-murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort, is on the run - and they say he is coming after Harry. In his first ever Divination class, Professor Trelawney sees an omen of death in Harry's tea leaves... But perhaps most terrifying of all are the Dementors patrolling the school grounds, with their soul-sucking kiss...

Didn't like Sirius Black

** spoilers for later Harry Potter books follow ** I read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban eleven years ago today. It wasn't the first time -- I also read it back around 1999, when it first came out. I'm not sure why I was re-reading it in 2011 -- perhaps I did a series re-read in preparation for one of the movies. Prisoner of Azkaban is not one of my favorite Harry Potter books. My main problem with it was that I didn't like Sirius Black very much. He's controlling and needy. Also, in later books we learn that he and James Potter, when in school, were big-headed jerks who basked in their popularity, Sirius egging James on in his bullying of Severus Snape. Eventually I got the feeling that Sirius was introduced in book 3 only so that he could be killed off later to provide another loss to motivate Harry. On the plus side, Prisoner of Azkaban is the book in which Remus Lupin was first introduced. I liked Lupin a lot. He's quiet and doesn't push himself forward, but has more true nobility of character than almost anyone else.

Good easy read

Good descriptions of characters with how the interact with one another, kept my attention. Will keep reading the next book after book.

A great continuation of the story

Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book in the original group of Harry Potter novels, thus it is set in the student's third year at Hogwarts. The book introduces several new characters, including the new defense against the dark arts professor, Professor Lupin, the titular prisoner of Azkaban (which is the wizard prison), Sirius Black, who is out to find Harry, and the Dementors, the guards at Azkaban who are trying to track down Black but also have a huge effect on Harry any time they come near him. This book is significantly longer than the first two, and as such, it has more content cut out for the movie adaptation than the first two books did. For example, the book has two additional Qiddich matches that were not shown in the movie, and there was more to the Buckbeak storyline than was shown in the movie. Also, some events played out differently in the book than they did in the movie, such as when Hermione decks Draco, Harry facing the Boggart for the first time, the circumstances of Harry getting his new broom, and the climax of the book when all is revealed has a lot more detail than was shown in the movie. And, some characters that were introduced in this book did not show up on film until the Goblet of Fire movie. Overall, the book is very well written, and done in a similar (yet a bit darker) tone than the first two. As most know, Rowling anticipated that kids reading the books would age as they were released so she made them darker and more "adult-like" as each book was released. So, there is a lot more talk of death in this one and we learn more details of the night that Harry's parents died than in the first two books. While it is technically a book for kids, in the 10-13-year-old range, adults can easily enjoy it. Even people like me who were older than the target reader group when the books were originally published. I had seen almost all the movies before I ever read the books for the first time and I think I enjoy the books more having already seen the movies. Even though the book is longer than the first two (435 pages), it is still a fairly quick read, depending, of course, how fast you read and how much time you have to read. If you are a fan of the movies or the first two books, it is definitely a must-read.

I read this series in 2009. It was fun to listen to the stories.

Of course this gets 5 stars!

It's Harry Potter! Great book. Great series. Just needed a hard copy to love on.

The Prisoner of Azkaban

Though this not my favorite book in the series, I still enjoy the resolution. It's not the best of the first three but it sets up the rest of the major storyline deftly.

Prisoner of Azkaban Will Lock Up Your Reader's Heart and Refuse to Release It Until the Final Page

Now thirteen, Harry Potter heads into his third year at Hogwarts. Third year is a big step for Harry and friends; they get to choose electives, learn harder magic, and best of all, get to go to Hogsmeade on field trip weekends. As usual though, Harry's horrible Muggle aunt and uncle won't sign his permission form or even acknowledge his wizarding background; they tell people he's been sent to a reform school for dangerous criminal boys. Ha--if they only knew Harry's real school will be more dangerous and exciting than ever this year! J.K. Rowling has, what can I say, outdone herself. Prisoner of Azkaban gets off to a bang of a start, with Harry learning a convicted killer named Sirius Black is after him, having escaped from the notorious Azkaban. To his credit though, Harry isn't about to let a little thing like a serial killer ruin his big third year. He's got plans, such as winning the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor for the first time in years. But J.K. goes beyond the simple "avoid the crazed killer" plot. She adds well-timed and delicious details and subplots, such as Hagrid finally getting to teach Care of Magical Creatures, a secret that could land Hermione in the hospital wing all year (at minimum), and Harry's discovery of the Marauder's Map. Most authors would drop their Quaffles somewhere, but J.K. manages to keep all her plot threads tight and making sense. Harry Potter and friends, as well as some new characters, get some superb development here. As another reviewer noted, the Hogwarts kids are growing up, and it's obvious in the problems they face and how they respond to each other, as well as the people in their lives. Harry faces some traumatic truths about what happened to his mom and dad; Ron continues growing into his place at Hogwarts; and Hermione pulls off one of the most breath-stopping climaxes in the series so far. (I tend to agree with a fan who says every book should be called Harry Potter and the Time Hermione Did Absolutely Everything). Even the bad guys get a little more sympathetic. For example, I still hate Snape, but I had to admit he had a point when he complained about Harry getting special treatment and doing as he pleased. Maybe it's the adult/former teacher/Muggle in me, but I couldn't help feeling Snape got a bad deal--until the end, that is, when he turned right back into a first-class jerk. If I hate Snape, I have to say I love Lupin. He made Defense Against the Dark Arts fascinating for me and his students; I wanted to go to one of his classes. He's the kind of teacher I always wanted to be. I also identified with him based on his secrets and standing as an outcast. There are rumors floating around that J.K. wrote Lupin's affliction to stand in for HIV/AIDS. If she did, that's brilliant--it points us to the stigma faced by people with illnesses and disabilities, and encourages us to treat them with respect in a non-preachy way. Speaking of Lupin, I absolutely loved the subplot with him, his friends, and the Marauder's Map. The scene where the Map insults Snape is downright hilarious. Other favorite parts of note: As a cat-lover, I cheered for Hermione adopting a cat. The subplot with Hagrid and Buckbeak is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and triumphant--not an easy mix to pull off. I'm not into sports, but that Quidditch final had me loathe to put the book away. GO, GRYFFINDORS! And I do wonder what's going to happen between Harry and Cho Chang...kudos for picking a Ravenclaw girl, Harry. We're the best of the lot. :) Read it--you'll love it!

Exceptional

This is my first time reading through the series after watching all the movies forever ago. I never cared about reading these books nor about the movies until I took a chances because of Amazon Reads allowing me free copies to read. It is a sin to not have read these inspiring books. It is all the worthwhile.

Well worth the read! A lovely adventure.

Such a fun winding plot! Excellent character development and sneaky foreshadowing. A great adventure with no disappointment about the time investment.

I mean, it’s Harry Potter!

I mean, it’s Harry Potter so of course it’s amazing! My nephew loves to read these books and I will always buy them for him! Quality and packaging were great

Spoilers!

“I solemnly sear that I am up to no good.” (ch. 10 pg. 192) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book in the Harry Potter series. It follows Harry and his friends through the excitement that is their third year at Hogwarts. In the start of the book, we find Harry doing his homework by flashlight under his bed sheets- as any proof of his time at that wizarding school is forbidden by the Drusley’s. It’s Harry’s birthday and for the first time in his life, he receives birthday cards and presents from his friends Hermione, Ron, and Hagrid. During a visit from Aunt Marge, Vernon and Harry make a deal, if he can keep Hogwarts a secret, Vernon will sign Harry’s permission slip to visit Hogsmead on the weekends. Unfortunately that goes out the window when Marge insults Harry’s family and he accidentally inflates her, whoops. The Knight Bus then picks up Harry after he leaves the house suddenly, but not after seeing something peculiar in the bushes… The main conflict of this novel is the fact that escaped prisoner Sirius Black is on the loose and dangerous. Dementors have made Hogwarts their home for the year and even made a little pit stop on the Hogwarts Express to make sure Sirius Black wasn’t aboard. While they didn’t find the prisoner on the train, they did find Harry, because of the sorrow and death he has already witnessed the dementors were drawn to him. The mysterious person (who we find out to be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher) is at the ready to produce a Patronus charm, which is used to ward of dementors with a happy memory. The school year starts and the dementors are not respecting the boundaries that Dumbledore has put into place. They even disrupt a Quidditch match and send Harry flying off of his broom and his Nimbus 2000 into the Whomping Willow. Harry get used to his new classes and the frequent disappearance and reappearance of Hermione as she seems to be taking more class than any average witch or wizard can handle. Third year is when students start taking Divination and it’s not Harry’s favorite subject to say the least. Professor Trelawney often tells Harry he is in grave danger after finding the Grim in his cup, and she becomes overcome with a prophecy when they are alone in the classroom. "It will happen tonight. The Dark Lord lies alone and friendless, abandoned by his followers. His servant has been chained these twelve years. Tonight, before midnight, the servant will break free and set out to rejoin his master. The Dark Lord will rise again with his servant's aid, greater and more terrible than ever before. Tonight... before midnight... the servant... will set out... to rejoin... his master..." (ch.16 pg.324) The story concludes with Harry, Ron and Hermione using Hermione’s Time Turner to not only save Hagrid’s friend Buckbeak, but also Harry’s innocent godfather Sirius Black, who has spent the last 12 years in Azkaban for a crime he did not commit. With the help of their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (who is also a werewolf!) Remus Lupin; Harry finds out more about his parents past and how their secret keeper and friend Peter Pettigrew betrayed them. This is easily my favorite Harry Potter book out of the seven. I’d give it ten out of five stars if I could. It introduced me to my favorite character of the series (Remus Lupin) and helped to continue the story of Harry Potter and helped Harry find out more about his parents before they died. He also was reconnected with his godfather and James’ best friend Sirius Black. “Mischief Managed” (Ch, 10 pg, 194)

Love it!

POA & HBP are my favorite books in the series, and it's genuinely so fun to listen along to Jim's narration. They were the first two I bought so I could enjoy HP since I'm without my books, and he does a fantastic job with the voice changes. For as many times as I've read these books, I still react along with the story. If you love HP and are looking to enjoy them while walking around or getting ready for bed, definitely grab his narrated versions.

Harry Potter 3

I was really drawn into the book and enjoyed the differences between the movie and the book. Cant wait for the 4th book

Harry Potter Books

I love this book! It makes me feel very happy and magical. I always spend many hours reading these books

Wonderful book

This is the way to buy used hardback books. In great shape, but it takes a little longer to get them in the mail. Worth the wait!

Great book!

Awesome story!

I love the Harry Potter books

These books can be recommended to everyone although I think kids would be more interested in these books I have read the first three and can't wait to read the forth one. I rate this a 5 because these books are so good and I have no idea how this author has so many ideas.

Perfect!!

Perfect new hardcover

books start to get dark

This book is different than the first two in the fact that now the story begins to get darker. It is a great read. The seven books of Harry Potter are definitely masterpieces. It was a great reread.

Yay

This was a great book. I was excited to read every pahe and could not put it down. On to the next book.

Magical.

I chose this rating because I thought it was one of the best books I've ever read. I have no complaint about this book. But I do have to say that I was surprised that Black didn't work for You-Know-Who.

Glue spillage on pages

American version of the story, had spine glue dribble on the outer edge of the book, making blocks of pages hard to separate. Maybe I got a random, maybe not… Be aware of this and to not tear pages. Otherwise it’s exactly what it says.

Fantastic!

This is one of my favorite Harry Potter books and Sirius Black is one of my favorite characters. There are quite a few differences from the movie but both are excellent.

probably one of the best in the series

This book is probably one of the best Harry Potter books there is. Rowling has put a lot of thought into this book, it can be easily noticed that the time turner parts were a wonderful edition because they added a certain depth of time restraint to the story line. Thus making it more deep and flowing.

Loved it more than the last l😀

There is no wonder these books are best sellers. The Prisoner of Azkaban -- a wonderful read. Anyone who can read will enjoy it. If they can't read someone should read it to them.

The Best One So Far

I've read the first three Potter books and I've seen all of the films, but I have to say that "Prisoner of Azkaban" is the best of the lot. This book, in my opinion, develops all of the key characters to a degree better than the two previous tales. The reader also begins to notice how age is beginning to affect young Harry. He is slowly becoming a moody teenager, and this is most evident in the early portions of the book when he uses magic in the Muggle world. Hermione and Ron are also developing into more mature young adults. They bicker and squabble like brother and sister(or is it boyfriend and girlfriend?). We are also introduced to some key characters in Potter lore. Most important are Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. Without giving too much away for those who haven't read the book or viewed the flicks, just know that these three characters are pivotal to this particular book AND future volumes. We also catch a glimpse of characters like Cedric Diggory, Professor Trelawney, and Cho Chang. Not only are we introduced to some new characters, but we get to catch up with the likes of Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, Seamus Finnigan, Percy, Fred and George, and the clueless Neville Longbottom. For those unfamiliar with this book, it tells the story of Harry's third year at Hogwart's. Naturally, trouble is a-brewing and it is centered around Harry. It seems that the murderous Sirius Black has escaped from Azkaban prison, a first in the wizarding world. He seems to be intent on finishing what Voldemort started, which is to kill Harry. As the story unfolds, things become rather interesting and culminate in the best Potter climax that I've read so far. Once again, I have to throw in that all of the Potter books are wonderful for youngsters to read. They are full of adventure and wonder that any young mind can easily digest. These stories let kids be kids, and fire their imaginations into creating their own adventures. Harry ISN'T satanic, nor does he lead children into the world of magic. As long as parents tend to their children properly, there won't be any problems. Do be advised that as Harry grows, his adventures become more precarious and deal with young adult themes, so I would try to stay at least one book ahead of my child in reading these stories. My daughter isn't quite old enough to read these stories, but she has seen all of the films. However, she is not allowed to watch all of the "Goblet of Fire" film, and if you've seen it, you know why. Highly recommended book for youngsters and oldsters alike.

Amazing Book

Warning: Do not read this book if you have not read books 1 and 2! This book is absolutely amazing. All of the writing is pitch perfect and the plot is phenomenal. I simply cannot think of anything bad about this book. This is the only book in the HP series that I have bought on Kindle, and the reason is because this, atleast in my opinion is the best book in the series along with the Goblet of Fire. This book starts with Harry at Prive Drive, as always, where he learns that Aunt Marge is coming to the house for the week, he decides to make the best of the situation and makes a deal with Uncle Vernon that if he behaves Uncle Vernon will the sign the Hogsmeade permission slip, but unfortunately lets his ager get the best of him, he escapes the house and gets onto the Knight Bus where it takes him to the Leaky Cauldron. Thankfully he gets into no trouble with the Miniser of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. He stays the rest of break at the Leaky Cauldron, where he meets Ron and Hermione and learns that Sirius Black, a murderer, is after him. He goes to Hogwarts and we get the usual stuff, Snape, breaking rules, Malfoy, and lessons. We also get some new characters like Crookshanks, Lupin, and Proffessor Trelawney. The best part of if is the ending, but I wil not spoil it. Keep in mind that this is a very brief overview of a 400+ page book. Overall this book is easily a 5/5 and there is a reason why this the only HP book I have on Kindle.

Not my favorite so far

I am loving the Harry Potter Books however this one though it be a shorter book was very repetitive and at times down right boring. The last but did pick up the pace but still had a lot of stuff happening over and over. I'm not giving up on the series though and I will keep plugging along. Maybe the next one will be better.

Rowling Hits Her Stride, Making No. 3 Succeed for Both Young Readers and Adults

In broad outline HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN follows the pattern of the previous two books: a magical adventure yarn about the young eponymous wizard told within the framework of another year at the English wizarding boarding school Hogwarts, the beginning and ending of the story in the company of Harry's insufferable muggle (regular people) relatives, the Dursleys. Book Number Three is, in the richness of its plot and its psychological depth, more intriguing than its predecessors. That it's not very nuanced reminds you that this is a children's tale, but it comes very close to standing on its own as an adult book as well. It's a dark story: more than ever before Harry has to face the murder of his parents--even hearing time and again the screams of his mother--and though this is unsettling, J.K. Rowling so deftly writes these scenes with children in mind that, for most pre-teen readers, it will not be unbearable. This is, perhaps, in part because Harry has by now become a beloved and trusted friend to young readers: they're willing to stand by him, as with Harry's bosom friends Hermione and Ron, through the many trials and occasional triumphs of Harry's life. The main thrust of the story follows the (previously unheard of) escape of a prisoner from the dreaded dungeon Azkaban. This escapee, a wizard and erstwhile best friend of the Potters named Sirius Black, is being hunted down by both muggle and wizarding worlds as a murderer. Indeed, it is widely believed in the latter sphere that not only had Sirius betrayed his friends, Harry's parents, to die, he is looking to murder Harry as well. Though containing interrelated subplots including involving a condemned hippogriff, a new power that Hermione is given, and, of course, the game of quidditch, this novel is principally concerned with the stalking of Harry Potter. Meanwhile, Harry continues to feel the cold venom of the Hogwarts Potions Professor Snape, and is newly befriended and aided by the latest Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lupin. J.K. Rowling seems to have her material well in hand with this entry in the Harry Potter saga. The previous two books, though charming and thoroughly likeable, seemed at times just a bit wooden. The writing in this volume is punchier; the story moves along swiftly. Just swiftly enough, in fact, to keep up, most of the time, the reader's necessary suspension of disbelief--only once in a while does the story give the reader pause to wonder, if only Sirius had been a somewhat better communicator, wouldn't a lot of the novel's problems have been avoided? Then again, that's life. All round, a decently written story that'll enthrall young readers and captivate adults as well.

The story continues

This is the only one, during my re-reading of the series, where I preferred the movie version in many significant moments. Like many millions of fans, I've been enthralled with the concept of a school of witchcraft and wizardry. I like to think we all have a bit of magic in us.

great book!

Great story!!! I looked forward to reading this every night with by six year old son. Some parts may need to be sensores first to prevent there imaginations from keeping them awake at night!

My son loves this book

My son loves this book. Arrived on time and in good condition.

Thrilling ride in the wizarding world.

I love these books. Hermione using the time charm to get to all her classes was brilliant. Harry finding out the truth of Sirius Black was a breath of fresh air. Buckbeak escaping and rescuing Sirius was a masterpiece of storytelling. As having seen the movies the book just brought them more to life for me. Now on to the next and continue the adventure.

Best Harry Potter book so far

Rawlings skills in plot devising and development have increased exponentially. The story is quite good and the characters are more three dimensional. Well done.

My 10 Year Old Loves the series!

So far book 3 is my son's favorite! Amazon sells the series in paperback for a great price. Makes a great gift for an aspiring reader.

Love it

Love it exactly as needed in perfect condition

Great Read!

This is the second time I have read ORDER OF THE PHOENIX and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Rowling is absolutely brilliant at creating wonderful characters and placing them in a magical world where, despite its dangers, I would love to live. That's not to say that PHOENIX doesn't have issues. All of the later POTTER books went on too long and desperately needed more editing. I expect this was the result of their huge popularity and the publisher trying to get them out as quickly as possible. Not that I was bored. I wasn't. But... [SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BOOK. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!] ...after the final battle at the Ministry with Voldemort, and after Sirius has been killed, the story needed to be wrapped up quickly. Yes, we needed to hear what Dumbledore had to say to Harry, but after that, Rowling should have quickly set up the next installment and ended it. There were also some literary missteps in this one (at least in my opinion): Umbridge would have NEVER followed Harry and Hermione into the Forbidden Forest. She was far too suspicious by nature. Harry took far too long to rescue Sirius. Of course we later find out it was a setup and Sirius wasn't really in danger (initially), but the unreality of this drew me out of the story. Rowling tried to cushion it by constantly referring to the fact that Harry's scar wasn't hurting him enough to think Sirius was already dead, but this never worked for me. I kept saying to myself, "Voldemort would have killed Sirius by now. He's never hesitated to kill anyone else." I also felt the final battle at the Ministry as Rowling described it was unbelievable. Harry and his friends were surrounded by Death Eaters in a room, and yet I was supposed to believe the Death Eaters couldn't hear Harry's whispered instructions to Hermione. Regardless of the size of the room, the Death Eaters would have been close enough to Harry, et al, to keep them from escaping. I also didn't buy that the exploding shelves would have been sufficient enough a distraction to allow the escape of Harry and his friends. They were all right there together, so everyone, good guys and bad, would have been impacted by the explosions. Am I being too picky? Perhaps. But my feeling was that Rowling didn't visualize the action sufficiently, which I have seen her do with other action sequences. But here's the thing--despite these flaws, this is a wonderful book, and the whole series is an incredible accomplishment, so its flaws are inconsequential. There have been few book series written that have created a more irresistible world, and few book series that have so positively effected this world. Ms. Rowling is not only to be congratulated, she is worthy of our admiration.

Great purchase!

Great purchase, it came quickly and was in great shape. My son has already started reading it and is very happy. Nothing wrong with this product, go ahead and purchase it immediately!

Fantasy At Its Finest 🧙♂️

So much has been written about Harry Potter from books, movies, music, actors, games, etc... I have seen every Harry Potter movie. This is my first read of a Harry Potter book. It will not be my last. I completely enjoyed the tower, castle, and all things Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. The competition between the different teams, gryffindor, hufflepuff, and slytherin was very captivating. It was not only competition in sports but in civility as students and good wizards. The bond of friendship between Ron, Hermione, and Harry withstands secrets and the lost of a prize pet. As adolescences trust is most revered. Hagrid becomes an integral part of the story that teaches about government bureaucracy and the injustices the system can produce. It was a wonderful telling of a young boy, Harry, remembering and defending the memory of his parents. Never doubting their love. Founding out the truth about the the real villain, Lord Voldemort, and his followers in the death of his parents lead Harry to confront his real fears. He did have a family who was not died and who truly wanted him to be happy. A very good read. Quotes: When Harry relieved this owl of its burden, it ruffled its feathers importantly, stretched its wings, and took off through the window into the night. Never trust anything that can think for itself, if you can't see where it keeps its brain. "Now, Snape," said Fudge, startled, "the young lady is disturbed in her mind, we must make allowances----"

Awesome book!

Awesome book. 😁😁😁😁 I'm delighted that Sirius is innocent. Harry potter always brightens my day very time I watch it read the series

classic

First time reading after watching the movies for ever now. It’s amazing how there was so much more to the books that I have been missing out on.

I FEEL LIKE I AM GETTING TO KNOW HARRY POTTER AND HIS FRIENDS AL OVER AGAIN

I WATCHED THE MOVIES ALL MY LIFE AND JUST BARELY GOT AROUND TO READING THESE BOOKS. I MISSED A LOT, LETS JUST SAY THAT. THESE BOOKS ARE TRULY AMAZING.

I've read it a million times

I lobe everything about this series, especially this book. I have 4 copies of the whole set and am I die hard fan. I have read this book too many times to count and will continue to do so!

always great

😁 I just finished reading this to my daughter. It’s wonderful for children and adults. I wish I had these books when I was little.

Harry Potter

My daughter challenged her daughter and her nephew to read the HP books & she would take them to Universal to see the HP exhibits. They each read 2 books (so far) but are hooked. We all spent spring break at Universal.

Great escapist entertainment for children and adults

It's a book, I read it. Very enjoyable. If you haven't heard of Harry Potter then what desert island have you been on? If you have seen the movies, the books have a lot more details making it easier to understand what is happening. Books do get darker with each volume so adults should determine whether they are age appropriate for a child.

ordered used copy

As someone who read each HP book a million times in his language, I wanted to get English copies without paying too much to the books that I know by the heart. I ordered from Colorado Goodwill -- wow, the book I received was like a new copy! So happy with this purchase! And no need to talk about how excellent the 3rd HP book is.

Couldn't put it down!

I love this book! This is my favorite ending out of the first three so far! Can't wait to read the next four!

Great book

I love this book and I'm obsessed with it. Great to read on Kindle so I don't risk breaking a book.

My Favorite Harry Potter Book

I first read this book in fourth grade. It was my favorite book I'd read that year! After rereading it as a now 21 year old I can still confirm its rank as my favorite.

Fun for all ages

These books are some of my favorites. I am on my 5th or 6th read through. And it won't be my last.

Harry Potter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this is the third HP book and.... IT IS VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD!!!!!!!! I have read the first two plus this one so far and this one might be my favotite. Suprisingly it is NOT as intense as the first two. There is no monster type things like Fluff and the viper, and there is not really any violence either. The only scary characters in here are the demontores (who are gaurds and ghost type creatures at Azkaban and at Hogwarts-yeah....and are not THAT scary, but sometimes they do something to Harry….) And Sirus Black, (who is the 'Prisoner of Azkaban') but then -spoiler alert!- he actually turns out good in the end and it was a misunderstanding senario and is Harry's godfather! Yup so that's about it, but I would recomend being 10 or older before reading this series, (unless your an advanced reader:) ) some of it might just be to confusing and there is alot of action and SOME violence... just something to consider. If you LOVE this series as much as I do, then may I, Shannon Messenger, also recommend the Keeper of the Lost Cities series, (which is like my absolutely favorite series besides Harry Potter, obviously.) :) :) :)

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good"

This is probably my 3rd or 4th re-read of this book but the first in eBook format. This is a great story. J.K. Rowling does a great job of weaving many threads together to create a cohesive plot: Hermione's class load and her cat Crookshanks, Buckbeak the hippogriff, Professor Trelawney's Divination class, visits to Hogsmeade, the Shrieking Shack, the Fat Lady vs. Sir Cagodan, Gryffindor winning the Quidditch Cup, a new spell: the Patronus charm, a new wizardly widget: the Marauder's Map ("I solemnly swear that I am up to no good"), Sirius Black and the dementors, the historical background of James Potter, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin, the bitterness of Severus Snape, and that "rat" Peter Pettigrew. Also, Harry learns that he has a godfather (not in the Corsican sense). This novel did not have a major "boss battle" with "He who shall not be named" (okay, Voldemort). All in all, a great novel. I'm looking forward to the next one (again a re-read).

HP

Been a lover of the movies for quite a while, I decided to start reading all the books. They're great!

We were so glad we could find these individually here on Amazon to ...

With all of the reprints of the Harry Potter series (paperback, new cover art, movie pictures, etc), we were trying to complete our collection of the original hard back books. We didn't start buying these for our collection until book #5 when the series had gained such a huge following. We were so glad we could find these individually here on Amazon to get the missing ones. The Prisoner of Azkaban continues a fascinating and engaging series. Book one of the series was very lighthearted as the world and characters were introduced. There was indeed a conflict and a villain, but the focus was on the world itself and the magic we could find in it. Book two continued in that world but had a noticeably darker tone (as did many of the later books). However, Book three returned us to a lighter tone while creating a self-encased conflict and villain with some really neat time-travelling plot twists (think of Bill and Ted or Back to the Future). The last four books tell more of a continuous narrative while I feel that each of the first three is more standalone. Yes, they end with an explanation of how the self-contained events fit into the overarching conflict of the series. But the individual plot elements of the books seem to lend themselves to the story at hand rather than the overall conflict. It seems that this changes with Book four when many parts of the book focus more on the overall plot rather than the individual book plot. Even if you've seen the movies, the books are deserving of a read. The cliche that the books are always better than the movies holds very true here. We hope that JK Rowling continues to write for many years and that she can create other worlds that are equally as imaginative and engaging as this one. Thanks for a great ride!

Harry potter fan

I've all ways loved harry Potter books an movies they are my favorite There destressing in life use them all the time

Remarkable Reading

“A kid’s book,” this is not…This adventure of Harry had as many twists and suspense as many adult books I’ve read. Very entertaining and enjoyable!

Ando 2Dx

Inwas reading this amazing book while on the Original Dee Line in the County of Kings. This book was read in 2022. Simply amazing and very easy to read format on Kindle.

Third Year and things SEEM to have gotten worse...

Sirius Black was the right hand of You-Know-Who and was in Azkaban, a jail where nobody EVER escapes. Until he escaped. Where will he go? Well, there are two clues to that. The first is that Black's downfall was when Harry Potter defeated his master. Also, in his sleep, he was overhead to say - He is at Hogwarts. He is at Hogwarts. Now Harry is the center of a manhunt. Will Black kill Harry before he is captured or are things a tad more complex than that? Loved the fact that Mrs. Rowling uses real legends and myths, such as Radcaps of Scotland and Kappas from Japan, yet also adds her own ideas, logic and humor. New characters and old ones help give us a sense that we know and belong on the grounds of the school. Yet this book is even darker than the first two and I didn't enjoy it as much. Maybe reality is starting to slip into the world of Harry Potter? Addition - After rereading there are a few things I need to add. First, time travel. Don't add it into the universe unless you can explain why a student can get her hands on it but not the bad guys. No, really, why don't the Death Eaters us time travel? It just brings in so many issues when a student can get a time travel device but nobody else, oh, let us say the evil folks, uses it? On the other hand I like, how near the end of the book, Dumbledore explains that while he believes the kids he can't do anything about it. An statement about real adults in the real world for young readers. And when compared to the film? The film turns out even darker than the novel. I think that has to do with having a different director then the first two movies. And they neglected Hagrid in the film. To be honest I kind of like him a lot more than many of the other characters. Maybe because we both have messy hair and beards? Anyway, onto the fourth book!

Who don’t like Harry Potter?

These books have gotten my girl into reading and I’m glad for that!

MY FAVORITE HP BOOK

Love this book. Great mix of surprises and plot twists. Remember - always trust the opinion of a good cat.

The Adventure Breezes Along

Just as the first two books of this series, they are very light and fun to read. I never read these books as a kid, now as a near 30 year old guy, I am so happy I decided to pick them up. Typically I read more adult books, Stephen King and other Horror is my favorite. So these books are a nice change of pace. Rowling keeps me hooked. I find I can't simply read one chapter at a time. This book seems to be a bit more mature as so are the main characters becoming in the series. Still the backdrop of exciting Quiditch matches and feel good moments as well. But this book definitely includes a bit more dark moments, a bit more strife between the trio. I will finish today and immediately start in on Goblet of Fire. Recommend the series to any reader, regardless of age or gender. Just fun and adventurous stories.

I love this book still.

I have always liked this book. When I was a kid I lived with my aunt and uncle as well, they treated me way better. Even though I did dream of some distant family member coming to take me away to live a better life with them. I did grow up to see how good I had it. I always had a special connection to this one book.

Amazing

It was very Interesting and it was like I was in the book ( give 👍!!) It is really AMAZING

amazing book

This book is amazing and I highly suggest this book to everyone even if you don’t like reading I think you’ll like Harry Potter

Loved it

I love all Harry Potter. The mystery and the friendship are great. I wish it was real. I'd send my grandkids.

💖💖💖💖💖

Poor Harry Just when he thinks he might have a chance at a family it's snatched away in a blink of an eye 💔 poor kid.

Absolutely Loved!!!❤❤❤

Another fantastic Harry Potter Journey down!! I am freaking absolutely loving these books!!! Can't believe I waited so long!!!😅😘 Now onto book 4!!!❤❤❤

favorite book of the series

Love this book so much. It is a favorite of mine for sure. It is a super easy read too.

Much More Optimistic

I don’t know what makes this book so much better than the first two, but it’s definitely better. Maybe it’s the addition of palpable love and optimism. Also, every bit of the story seems useful, like it contributed to something larger. Also, the new characters don’t SUCK like the second book. Lupin and Sirius both rock, and were more interesting than the stories of Lockhart and Nearly Headless Nick, or Professor Quirrel. While there was still disappointment at the end, there was a lot more optimism, and I think that’s why this book, and it’s little plot devices, were more interesting this time around.

Another Great One

This series grew on me from book one. I'm so glad that I got into the story and let go of all the forbidden material talk. Lol. Reading this series made me into a stronger writer than I was before.

An excellent read!

It is amazing reading this series having watched the movies already. As the books are much different in some areas, you can still see the movie playing in your mind's eye. Looking forward to book four and the hidden details it holds!!

favorite Harry Potter book so far!

I loved reading this with my mom! I loved this book because it is a very great book and has a lot of words in it and it’s very very very interesting.

Great

Fantastic, better then the movie. More detail and more insight. Starting next book in a few minutes. Harry Pothead and the Hash Pipe.

Awesome book

I love that this book is so magical. I would recommend this book to anybody along with the rest of the series. I am a huge HARRY POTTER FAN

HP Prisoner of Azkaban

I really enjoyed this book. It held my attention and kept me anxious to continue on reading. Very enjoyable. I want to continue with the series

Amazing book, received in great condition!

This book was bought used in "Good" condition and it was received in great shape! I love these books and am so glad to have this book in my collection.

packaging

I love the Harry Potter series and I'm happy to have these. The shipping packaging could certainly be better. This set was squashed. I don't suppose it really matters, but it's not very appealing. I wouldn't want it to happen to a gift.

I enjoyed reading it, again

Good book. Had to reread it after watching the 20th special. Wanted to see what was different, what they were not about to get into the movie. Still a good read.

Delivered on time

Book was as described and delivered on time

Just Fantastic

This is my Favorite book so far! They are all just so magical and hit every different emotion! It is perfection!

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Another Potter done, four to go. Even though I am giving this the same rating as the first two this is not the best of the three. Care to find out? Stick around. The Ugly: There was a book I reviewed a couple of weeks where I mentioned that there was too much of a red herring involved in the book. The same thing happened here. I’m not going to give away what I am referring to because it does play into the end of the book and I will not spoil it for anyone, but just know it’s there. The Bad: Then we have the lack of Voldemort (stop crying about it) not being in the book. His presence is there, but he physically is not. “Oh, but wait, technically he wasn’t in the first two books.” Technically, yes, but he was there. He just isn’t in this one. The Good: I know a lot of people don’t like this part of the book, but I thought it made the book a bit better. The way Hermione managed to get around to all her classes was great. It helped that it mingled into the end of the book. There was really only one way out of the mess they were in, and Hermione had the answer again. Final Thoughts: Honestly, I can’t say this is near the top of the list in the Harry Potter books, but it is worth reading. I still have four books to go, so I’m sure I will get a 5* by then.

Of course it's five stars!

I am re-reading all of the Harry Potter books as it's the 20th anniversary . The adventures of Harry Potter and his friends are more intense this time around . The Prisoner of Azkaban will reveal more secrets to Harry Potter about his past.

Third Book Finished

The time travel element threatened to be a little too elaborate but it wrapped up nicely at the end. Although this is probably my least favorite book of the series I still enjoyed catching up on the storyline and the introduction of some beloved characters Lupin and Sirius Black.

longer than the first two

Harry and the his two friends are up to no good again. A great addition to the HP world. On to the next book.

In the set, it was only one library didn't have

Bought it for 9 year old granddaughter... upon receipt she texted me a gold star in the sky.

Well done, but first two books in series are better

Typical of series books, the first is really good, the second is better than the first, then the third is not quite as good as the first. My two issues with this particular book are - 1) Too much time spent explaining things as if the reader had not read the first two books. 2) When the mystery unravels and what's really going on is revealed, the presentation is an avalanche that is so confusing and quickly explained, it's taxing to take in. Still enjoyable, but might be better as a movie than book.

Great book!

Loved it! It’s one of the best of the series, I’ve read it several times over and never get tired of it. This is definitely my favorite book series!

Very

Very good yes amazing Very very good excellent Very very very good yes Very very very very good incredible Very very very good yes Very very good excellent Very good yes amazing

Good read

I read this as a child but it's been years. Rereading it gave me so much joy just like it had the very first time. I dunno how she does it but I had such a hard time putting it down you're on edge every page waiting for what happens next and you really can't be sure because its so very different from the movie but so much better!

Amazing book

HP is a magical book that takes you out of your own thoughts and into its magical world. I recommend it to people of all ages.

The best in the series

This is by far the best in the series. The story of Sirius is the heart of it all and the story telling is masterful.

wonderful

The time travel is a bit dumb but the book is highly enjoyable and well written. I highly recommend it.

This is by far the most exciting book out of the first three

This is by far the most exciting book out of the first three. As the characters mature within the HP universe, so does the ever growing sense that Harry Potter is being groomed to face Hogwarts greatest foe. There's a sense of repetitive narrative amongst the three books as far as the character arcs and plot twists, which rely on the complex relationship between the Gryffindor gang and Slytherin camp. But I understand that's the point of the series. Very emotive book with a pleasing conclusion. As I take a step back and review this for what it is a YA novel intended for any person at any age, this is a superb product. I really want to continue with the series but I promised myself I would pick up on another abandoned series I started 2 years ago...A song of fire and Ice. I will likely come back to Harry Potter after the summer.

Love it love it love it!

I absolutely love these books. I can't get enough of these! I keep reading them over and over! Love it!

Amazing

Re reading with my youngest and still love it. Would reccomend to everyone! Keeps you young at heart. Thank you

There Harry’s 2 best friends he met in his first years at hogwarts ...

Harry Potter is in his 3rd year of Hogwarts ready to take on the craziest adventure in Hogwarts. The main characters are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. There Harry’s 2 best friends he met in his first years at hogwarts and there all Gryffindors (which is a different house out of 4 house’s which shows your team ). Harry Potter has been told that a man named Serious Black is after him to kill him. Harry is in terrible trouble because this man is no ordinary man. He is a follower of You Know Who (Voldemort) and has been in Azkaban for over 12 years, but escaped this year to find Harry Potter. So Harry Potter and his friends (Ron and Hermione) must defend each other by any obstacles that come in there way, for instance Harry trying to stop the Dementors(flying ghost type enemies). My opinion about the book is that this is an amazing series of creative thoughts and adventures. I’d recommend this book if you're into fantasy books that have crazy adventures in it. This book keeps you really entertained and focus. The authors name is J.K Rowling and created more than 7 books of the Harry Potter series. You should read this if your entertained my magical books, gods, and adventure series.

What a page-turner

The third Harry Potter book is Rowling's best! The characters fee like your own best friends, the plot keeps you on your heels, and no fluff seems to be added to this book. I spend through this whenever I had a break in school and burned through the last 170 pages in one night. It's that good! If you like character driven stories, especially in a school-like setting, then this is a great book for you. I found the story in this book to be more complex and interesting then the first two. Harry shows some real emotion for the first time in the series. Overall, one of my favorite books I've read.

Better than the movie!

Gave so many more important background details to characters than the movie did! The word imagery/scene descriptions were amazing. Rewatched the movie after I finished reading and solemnly decided that the book was better!

outstanding story to read and live

I really enjoyed every word! It drives you to emotions I can’t wait to read the next one! Keep going

My favorite

I needed my previous book, that I had from years ago, replaced so I got this one and sort of felt that I would like the previous book cover better but then once I got this one and actually paid attention to the detail of the cover, I like it a lot now. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite in the series...or maybe tied at least 🤯 I love it!

Great book!

I've been a Harry Potter fan for some time, but through this whole quarantine business I've actually had the time to re-read and re-watch the books and movies. I only owned a few of the books (I used to take them out from the library when I was younger). I intended to just buy a new set a nice one maybe hardcover but I hesitated to buy on Amazon because I saw so many random reviews talking about missing pages or badly printed pages. I took less of a chance and started ordering some of the paperback books (the ones I was missing). For the price I figured I wasn't risking much. I'm almost halfway through this book and there are no misprints or missing pages. As always the Harry Potter books are wonderful.

Wonderful

This was my second reading of the book. Liked it even more. I feel that this book and the rest of the series appeals to the older reader more than the first two books.

Great read

Let me first start off by saying, "I am a huge Harry Potter fan!!!" Now with that being said let me shift my focus to the POA book. This book is a very enjoyable read. It is well written. JK Rowling always gives a healthy balance of description and storytelling that just brings the book to life. In addition, she manages to add applicable life lessons that can be understood by people of all ages. POA gives several of these life lessons: making assumptions, forgiveness/letting go, friendships, choices/actions and consequences, the bitterness of holding onto grudges/anger, fate/destiny, time, happiness, and soooo much more. POA was very entertaining and emotionally moving. You will definitely get lost in the book...and lose track of time.

Good little adventure tale, with some redemption themes.

This one is fun. Harry is being stalked by Sirius Black, his father's former best friend, who became notorious as the one who sold out the Potters to Voldemort when he blew up his other friend Peter Pettigrew, leaving behind nothing but his little finger. Sirius has been in Azkaban, the wizard's prison, for several years. Azkaban is not a nice place. It is guarded by shades that feed on a person's happiness and can suck out their very soul. Sirius has escaped, and sources say he will try to kill Harry Potter. Meanwhile, the Azkaban guards have been stationed at Hogwarts in an attempt to apprehend Sirius if he should attempt to enter the grounds. There's a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who is helping Harry learn to defend himself against the Azkaban guards, who seem particularly drawn to him. And Hagrid is teaching Care of Magical Creatures this year in addition to his gamekeeper's duties. Draco is attacked by one of Hagrid's animals during a class demonstration, and this not only destroy's Hagrid's confidence in himself but also causes the animal to be scheduled for execution after Draco's father complains to the Ministry of Magic. There's a lot going on at once in this book. But in the end all of the little events come together and you'll see that everything really is connected. And Harry will discover some family that he never knew he had.

Delightful series

This is my second time reading this series. I find them a delightful read!! They are even better the second time.

Journey's end...

All along, Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort were eventually going to have to confront each other one final time. In "Deathly Hallows", the final book of the Harry Potter series, Harry and Voldemort will circle each other at a distance, each seeking to solve the mystery of the other. In Harry's case, he, Ron, and Hermione will spend a long season on the run, trying to sort out their very few clues about how to defeat Voldemort. In the case of the Dark Lord, he will move from success to apparent success, closing in on Hogwarts and final victory... This is a long book, enough to fill two movies, filled with the characters of the earlier books. There is a fascinating story here, one with moral depth and emotional content. Wise readers will understand not only how Harry Potter comes to his moment of destiny, but why. Few readers will be left unmoved. Very highly recommended to fans of the franchise. Be sure to read the afterword.

Azkaban

Really an exciting and suspenseful story. Great for building vocabulary and imagination by creating your own version of what the characters look like.

Amazing!

Best of the series and soooooo much better than the movie version!! Read it right now! You don't regret it.

Absolutely loved it!!!!!

All of my friends have been reading this book for years now and I’m so glad that i was able to start getting into the series I’m so happy with these books as my schedule has became very busy so these books have come in my favor to take me to another place. It’s very rare that i find a book series or just a book in general that i absolutely love. Would recommend to everyone i know❤️!!!!!!!!!!!

Great book

No doubt a great book in the franchise definitely will re read sometime down the road, love being able to see what wasn’t in the movies and it definitely surprised me with how much good stuff they left out. Check it out if you haven’t you won’t be let down. Can’t wait to read the goblet of fire next!!!

Great even after 20 years

I read it when I was a teen. I always remembered as one of my favorites in the series, and now, 20 years later I read it again. Rowling is a master in installing clues that connect only at the end. The suspense, even though I am familiared with the ending, is still there.

Excellent

I tried to get through the first book to her three times and I couldn’t do it so I started with my favorite now I will be reading them all.

Don’t know till you know

If you can understand a stories about a prejudice world, Friendship, love, and believing in yourself this is for you. It’s not just stories for children. You’ll never understand until you read the books……..I highly recommend to everyone!

It was exactly what I wanted.

I liked the speed of delivery and the good condition of the book.

Love it

I enjoyed how I watched the movie first but I totally agree with the saying the books are better than the movies. Loved every minute some parts so exciting I had to put the book down to breathe.

Spellbinding Novel

Amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well written. J K. Rowling strikes gold again . The book had me enchanted from start to finish.

Wonderful Face Time family reading experience during the pandemic

In my opinion, J.K. Rowling is second only to Charles Dickens in creating names that fit the characters so appropriately. And what an imagination! Three generations of my family began reading the series using Face Time during the pandemic. My granddaughter, my great-granddaughter, and I divide the chapter pages evenly and take turns reading to one another. Great fun. Wonderful family experience.

Great story in a great series

A wonderful series of stories about a young wizard, his education, friends and adventures. There must be very few people who have not heard of Harry, Ron and Hermione, Lord Voldemorte, or the amazing Albus Dumbledor. This series is a classic example of a coming-of-age story about a young person who must learn how to deal with life and difficulties from an early age. The stories are written to capture the interest of the younger reader, with stories that recount classrooms, meals, and the disregard of rules. It's also a series that the reading adult can find much interest in as well. Be warned, these stories start out with adventures, but because of the nature of the theme, get darker and more involved as time passes and Harry gains in age, education and ability. But the stories reflect what is best in all of us and should be read with that expectation. In this outing Harry and his friends must deal with an escaped convict, an endangered hippogriff and dementors. Of course the Dursleys start things out and Draco Malfoy has a hand in the goings-on as well. How will Harry, Ron and Hermione finally save the day?

Harry Potter; Not a classic?

Harry Potter is a GREAT series in both movie form and book form. I grew up with my best friend and her family watching Harry Potter marathons quite often on VHS. As I got older, I got into reading and decided that I would like to own a collection of the Harry Potter books because I loved the movies so much. I started ordering my books from here on amazon and I have not been upset about anything so far from doing so. This book came in good condition, no damage that I've ever noticed and It's sitting on my shelf with the rest of the series!! This is the THIRD book in the series by J.K. Rowling and the only complaint I have in the book series as a whole, is that in parts, I feel like it is quite redundant at times with detail description and I feel some parts could have been written better or described in a better way. This in no way makes me love it any less so if you're not sure to continue this series and this is the next book you need then go ahead and give it a shot!

This completed my hardcover collection!

The book arrived in great condition, as pictured with the original artwork exactly as I wanted, and shipped fast. Have been a fan of the series since it first came out.

*SPOILERS* I love all the Harry Potter books and this one is ...

*SPOILERS* I love all the Harry Potter books and this one is no exception. There are so many twists and turns in this book and they keep you guessing until the end. The first time I read it, I had no clue how Hermione was getting to all her classes until the end. I loved being introduced to the Marauder's Map and Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs. The funniest thing was when the Snape got a hold of the Map and it called him names. :) I feel bad for Snape sometimes because things just never go his way (a la the end of the book when he doesn't get the title of Order of Merlin because Sirius Black gets away). He just can't win. I wish that Lupin was able to continue on as DADA teacher. He was a lot of fun since he had practical classes. He's a great mentor for Harry during the school year. Another favorite part of the book - well, two actually - (1) when Malfoy is made to look a fool in Hogsmeade. Harry, under the invisibility cloak, throws muck at Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle; (2) When Hermione gets so fed up with Malfoy that she hits him. Overall, just a fun book.

Love this book and is my favorite

Unos de los mejores libros de esta saga y mi favorito porque me hizo apreciar más esta historia 100 Recomendado

I Stand With JK Rowling

Great Author and amazing books!!! A shame she wasn’t included in the recent anniversary reunions and specials. Nonetheless great author!!!

Book is better

As someone who is reading the books because of the movies, this book is better than the movie. I can see why the uproar. The quidditch match where Harry made his first Patronus charm would’ve been great to have seen.

I LOVE IT

I LOVE THIS BOOK THATS ALL I HAVE TO SAY ITS GOOD ITS FUNNY ITS WEIRD AND ITS JUST A REALLY GOOD BOOK SO READ IT OK???!?!?!!?!???!!????!!?!!!!

J. K. Rowling never disappoints

In "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book 3)" Harry is warned that a criminal who was imprisoned in Azkaban [prison], wants to kill him. As the plot grows more complex Rowland is still in full control of her material. One of the things that I like about the Harry Potter books is Rowland's ability to make up fantastical names. Where does she get them? Well, I am on the next book and Iplan to read all 7.

Full of fun andcexcitement

My teenager read this to me several years ago, I thought it would be fun to remind myself of that occasion. I am pleasantly surprised to find how gripping and fun it was to remember all the characters and relive the story. It is wonderfully written. The age old battle of good and evil is entertaining in this format.

MOST AMAZING BOOK I EVER READ

It’s a really good book and it’s probably one of my favourites of all of them because it’s very exciting and confusing and it has the most interesting riddles that I have to think over in my mind again and again.

Is it possible to have a crush on a book?

Every book in this series brings back warm wonderful memories of first discoveries. The first time I read the books, the first time I was able to convince my rather religious mother to read them. Ms. Rowling may be controversial now, but, she will always have a special place in my heart.

Great book for teenagers

My son loved the book, I would recommend it to any one who is looking for fantasy style books. I also bought him the fourth book and he thought it was good as well. Overall good book totally recommend

Great read!

Didn’t want to put it down!! Very well written and much better than the movies. Highly recommended for all ages.

Excellent quality

The book is superb and was delivered fast!

Great story

I love the Harry Potter series, this is a great book and it was very enjoyable to read. It gets more intense with each book, I can’t wait to read the next.

My favorite I’m the series!

This is my favorite book in the series. I love the Sirius Black character! I also love Beaky! Great book!

Amazing

I’m 24 and reading the Harry Potter books for the first time and I just finished The Prisoner of Azkaban and OMG. So far, this is the best one I have read. I feel so stupid for taking this long to come around and read literally the most popular series in the world but I am SO happy I finally did. This particular book might just be my favorite book I have ever read (so far).

Great book

Loved all the books in the series.

I love it

I’d say it’s the best series I’ve ever read. Definitely, advice to read it. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter

4 lenticular postcards

I bought for my niece's birthday. I'm sure she will love it

Amazing as always

This series never ceases to amaze, how in depth it brings the readers makes anyone ready for their Hogwarts letter

So much better than the movie!

From start to finish, J.K. Rowling ignited imagination and truly took this reader on a fantastic journey. It took me back to my childhood!

My favorite book in the series! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

I love all of the Harry Potter novels, but this one is by far my favorite! From the very first time I read it as a 7 year old (when the book first came out in 1999) I loved the change of pace from the other books in the series - for once, Lord Voldemort is not the main antagonist, and instead it's Sirius Black - or at least so we think! The ending contains one of the biggest plot twists in the entire series, and it's ultimately less about fighting evil and more about finding family and belonging. This purchase was actually a replacement - as my first edition copy had been read so many times by me, my sister, and my parents, that the binding was pretty much destroyed and the pages quite stained (because obviously putting the book away during lunchtime is not an option for 7-12 year old Potterheads)

Good condition

Just as described. Good quality. Only book I needed to complete my series!

Definitely the best of the books!

Left me wondering what the third installment might present to me, from uncertainty to warm happy vibes (magically speaking). Highly recommend this, cause it’s an addictive read!

Excellent

It's been over 20 years since I first read these books, but they are even better the second time around. I've totally forgot what these books were about.

Good Read

It was a good book and I love reading the differences between the movies and the books. Thanks for continuing the Harry Potter journey.

Harry Pottery Book 3

Grand daughter loves the books

Stick with it

I found the first half a bit slow but it really picks up toward the end. This was my favorite of the 7 as a child and I was convinced during the first half that my tastes had changed. But the second half really does make up for it. We get some good character development beyond just Harry, Ron, and Hermione. There is one scene in particular that I believe to be the worst written scene so far within this book but I can overlook that.

Amazing story

As always, this such a great story provided by J.K. Rowling. I adore the Harry Potter series and would encourage anyone with even a slight interest in it to give it a go.

Best present for any kid of any age

My daughter has not stop reading these books she loves them and i am so happy to see her read instead of playing games or on a phone.I would recommend to any parent.

Love Harry Potter

Easy to get sucked into the world of Hogwarts. Great book that I would recommend for all ages. Finished it in a day.

Funny and great ending !

It felt slow in some parts but most of it and most of the time I couldn't put it down and if I had to I didn't want to 🤣 very good book series!

Entertaining!

I needed to finish my collection of hard covers for this series. It came in the mail as scheduled.

Prisoner of Azkaban

Another great read! I have thoroughly enjoyed the series so far, and I intend to complete reading the series too! I highly recommend this book to all who can read my review! Great book and thank you.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ratings

I loved the mystery in the book very tempting. Also long but you should read this book. So if you like mystery this is the book for you

Great purchase

Going to read this book very soon can't wait to read it came in good condition very happy with my purchase

Truly can't put down

In my mind the best fantasy series ever. The Third book in the series is possibly the best in the series

Great book!

This book is so creative and good! I would definitely recommend it! It’s an exciting and amazing! I don’t want to put any details on the book because I don’t want to spoil it but you won’t be disappointed!

Too Hyped

I am on my up to book 4 and the second book is my least favorite. The book is a page turner don't get me wrong but when I finished it( because it dragged so much) I didn't read want to read book 3. I mean to know Harry Potter and to know his journey you must read the books, so of course it is a must read but don't get your hopes up.

A classic

I simply love this book and all the others. I don't even know where to begin. The plot and the storyline is just awesome. I definitely recommend getting it 👌

Gracias muy bien todo excelente excelente

Buena entrega y artículo

Amazing!!

How an author has this much imagination is just amazing. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to start the next!!

Escaped prisoner being chased by government

I chose this rating because this has always been one of my favorite Harry Potter books. I really like how the reader never loses interest and finds out a lot about new characters. There isn't much I disliked about it except that eventually the book ended. However there are other great books in the series to read also

I loved the introduction of Lupin and Sirius.

I loved the introduction of Lupin and Sirius.

Really good

I enjoyed this book it was really fun quick read I would recommend to anyone who likes Harry Potter yay

Good Read

Another good Harry Potter story. Not as good as as the second one but still good. Looking forward to next one.

The best book ever

I bought this book for my son and when finished this book he said to buy another Harry Potter book. Overall he said that this book was the best.😁

Full of surprises

I really enjoyed the wealth of surprises contained in this book. So much of Harry's family history is divulged with never-ending revelations. Harry, Ron & Hermione have become true bosom buddies, literally willing to do anything for each other. The friendships of youth bring back so many memories that their antics make me smile throughout. Love the details & the intrigue.

Hands down the best of the books so far

At the time of this writing, there are only five of seven books published. This is my favorite. I have read this numerous times (including in Spanish) and I am over 30 (if that matters). This story is particularly dark. The whole premise of the book is that Harry is being sought by a known murderer (and one who, no less, betrayed Harry's parents and is the cause of their deaths). So much happens in this story to test Harry's resolve. A pack of dementors--Azkaban prison's guards--surround the school in an attempt to catch the murderer (Sirius Black). These guard cause Harry a tremendous amount of grief. The storyline is fascinating. We get further background information on the wizarding world and, more importantly, on Harry. We are introduced to some new magic, new spells, and some new creatures. This is the book that will show you that this series has the power, the strength, and the story to carry it through seven books. If you decide you cannot commit to seven books or to worrying about some kid you don't know, consider reading just this one--even if it is out of order--before you quit the whole series. This book is that good.

How Could you NOT Love this Book?

This is literally the very best Harry Potter book of them all. Period. I actually bought this copy as a "replacement copy" because my original version has gotten so worn out.

Finest quality

This edition and its companion books carry the series from a popular book to a classic product. The Harry Potter series has matured into a finely produced, collectible, cherished edition for the ages. This edition is meticulously put together with the most durable binding of any edition, into books that will last for generations with normal care. The binding, stitching, and ribbon book mark are hallmarks of the most prized of books, and deservedly so. I love the Harry Potter saga, and would enjoy it any edition. But, the Bloomsbury Special edition gives it the cachet of a true classic, which I hold it to be. This printing will, in a few years, amount to what a first illustruated printing of "Alice in Wonderland" amounts to. This edition amounts to the first real production of the Harry Potter series in a truly lasting book, rather than the falling apart editions we have suffered with for so long. The Scholastic hardbound editions seem to hold up, but the paperback editions fall into loose pages. HP is finally taken seriously enough to become a sturdy, well published, well bound series of books.

YES!

I mean what is there to say Harry Potter is the best saga and it’s just another good quality book!

So much better than the movie

Oh how I love the Harry Potter world. Back when the movies were out I read books 1 & 7. I loved book 7 and was "meh" about book 1. But picking them up again to finish reading the whole series I am enjoying them so much more than I did initially. Rowling makes such lovable characters! There are so many books I wanted to read this month and instead I find myself spending all my reading time on Harry Potter books. A great addicting read. Better than the first two books I'd say. I loved Lupin and Crookshanks the most. And I especially loved the last chapter of this book. There is much in the book that is not in the movie, so it's worth a read even if you've seen all the films.

I AM SPELLBOUND BY THE MAGIC OF THIS BOOK!

The Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book in the Harry Potter series and another winner for the genius J. K. Rowling. The continuation of the escapades of Harry and his best friends Ron and Hermione keep the reader obsessed with finishing another great read. Harry spends another horrid summer at the Dursleys and agrees to "act normal" during the visit of the beastly Aunt Marge (in order to receive a signature on a pass to Hogsmeade). Harry does fine until Aunt Marge severely criticizes his parents. As seen in all three books, Harry cannot hold his temper where his parents are concerned. He blows up Marge and runs away in fear of retribution from both the Dursleys and Hogwarts. Thus, the adventures begin! I really don't like to tell too much about the book in my reviews because I believe it spoils the plot for the reader. Just trust me when I say that this book is another fabulous classic. I am very stingy when it comes to giving a book 5 stars. I do this only if I want to read the book again and again. I am an adult who admits to reading this series three times and who is truly looking forward to the 5th book!

So far loving these books. Kinda like the twilight series! Will defense reading.

Same as the heading. Saying it again otherwise it won't post my review. Love love love love love love love

my second fave book

I love reading books and I recommend reading Harry Potter, Babysitters Club and all Enid Blyton's books. They are extremely thrilling books that could make anyone down the dumps feel at the top of the world.

My personal review

I found some parts confusing, but that is me. But it is more interesting than the 1st and 2nd book with the time travel. And Harry is getting better with his spells. I am glad Harry, Ron and Hermione passed all their classes. I am glad Draco Malfoy wasn't in it much near the end, he is annoying. That is all I can think of.

He's at Hogwarts... He's at Hogwarts

When the dangerous murderer Sirius Black is heard whispering words about somebody who's at Hogwarts and manages to escape his prison cell down in Azkaban, the whole school is putting heavy security around the school, including some of the wizard prison's most dangerous guards, the dementors. Through the whole year, students try to live their school life while under the fear that Sirius Black may infiltrate the school and attack whom everybody suspect will be his next victim. Harry Potter! Being one of the most popular volumes in the series, this chapter of the Harry Potter saga involves incredible adventures for Harry and his friends to explore. Such as the wizard village of Hogsmeade, the shrieking shack, and also a new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher teacher, who is one of the most popular in the series and a true example of a teacher. Like the first two volume, this book is a cracking good read and has marvelous illustrations from Mary Grandpre, but it is also the one that really puts in motion events that will have huge consequences in the following volumes.

Intense and Revitting

The third installment of Harry Potter carries great mystery and suspense, with a surprising climax. I feel this is this best and most complete story yet in the series.

Will probably come with a few wear and tears

I bought all paperbacks. The books are still in beautiful condition because they are new but they came a little torn and whatnot because they were only In the box with a few bubble things. It doesn't really bother me but I thought it should be known if you're buying paperbacks that there isn't much protection in the box.

The best of the Harry Potter series, IMO

The third Harry Potter novel sees the series plot emerge from the standalone storylines of the first two books. Excellent foreshadowing and an unforgettable ending!

Excellent

Its smaller then I thought it would be, but I love the newer cover. Price was a bit high but it was worth it just have the hard bound for my collection.

Shadows from Harry’s past return to haunt him.

An unexpected outburst forces Harry into the night, fleeing the consequences of his actions. Fortunately he is quickly found and forgiven. He returns to Hogwarts to find it flanked by dementors, searching for Sirius Black, escaped prisoner and servant to Voldemort. But soon the dementors reveal themselves to be just as dangerous, particularly for Harry, who must master new magic in order to keep them at bay. Eager to begin, the opening offers a concise summary of the series so far, along with vague allusions to the overarching conflict, the search for Sirius Black. Black is painted as the threat, but he’s soon overshadowed by the dementors who pursue him, and anyone else who attracts their attention. The main plot quickly becomes subsumed by subplots. Audiences explore the daily life of Hogwarts in a flurry of scenes that focus on class and Quidditch, as Black and the dementors loom in the background, occasionally as a threat, but mostly a source of inconvenience for Harry, who endures increasing impositions in the name of safety. Harry struggles against these restrictions, earning him the ire of both teachers and friends. Relationships dominate the story, as characters struggle to overcome their own intense emotions. The story culminates in a tragic revelation, casting new light on many of the year’s events, and reiterating the underlying ambiguity that runs throughout the story. +Strong characters +Strong descriptions *Subplots dominate *Ambiguous meaning -Excessive summarization 3/5

Best book yet

This is the book/movie that made me fall in love with the series. It goes so much deeper and sets up all the events about to happen.

Enjoy being a child

I am an unreserved Potter fan, having read all the books and seen the films many times. Whether you are young or old or anywhere in between, the stories are like old friends and memories

Great book.

This is the third book in the Harry Potter series. In this book we meet Harry and company once again on their way to Hogwarts, most of the book takes place at the school during the school year. The main plot of this book is that mass murderer Sirius Black has escaped from wizard prison and is out to get Harry. Sirius is also Harry's godfather and is supposedly the one that betrayed Harry's parents to Voldemort which eventually resulted in their death. As is often the case with the Harry Potter books, things are not so black and white as they are initially presented. 'Good guys' are actually bad, 'bad guys' turn out to be good; there are several exciting plot twists and the book ends on a somewhat happy note.

Slow start but story builds nicely

I’m usually not the one to leave a 5 star review but I have to give it to this one. The book starts out slow but it builds nicely. The twists in the story are well done. The book is much better than the movie. I throughly enjoyed “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”

Another great Harry Potter book

Very fast-paced and exciting! Loved this book. Can’t wait to read the next. The descriptions of the characters makes them so real.

A classic

It’s always been my favorite book of the series. I could read it again and again. Of you don’t know what to read.. read this!

Loved It!

Been a fan of Harry Potter since I first got my claws on the books and so I decided to start reading them to my daughter at bed time. Now while I had a few moments of where I thought that this book was a bit dark and scary for her, due to the dementors, overall I think that she really liked it. The thrill of Harry Potter returning to Hogwarts, continuing to learn and meeting new teachers and having to face that he is the focus of a "deadly" criminal's focus. Harry has a lot of growing up to do and much to learn but it's always great to be able to follow along and experience it with hi.

Another Harry Potter book to escape into

As an adult parent I discovered the first two Harry Potter books were included with prime. They were a great escape into a world of fantacy from the chaos we are currently living. I ended up purchasing the third book as I was hooked

Good

Thought it was a good book not as good as 2 in my opinion but I still enjoyed it very much

Good

Good book for reading good book and, I liked this book as it was a good book, and this book was good

love your work

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii love your books and my fav is Harry Potter movies as well love your work your the best as ever

Better then the movie.

This was a great book. It Kept you entertained the whole time. Went into more detail then the movie. Which I enjoyed very much.

Rolls right along

This review applies to this book and the other one I have read: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. A compelling and entertaining story with fresh twists and turns. Really, though, the whole series is a single story, so It would be better to start at the beginning and read through to the end. It's clear, for the most part, that the bad guys are bad and the good guys are good, but Rowling does muddy the waters sometimes in a manipulative way. This applies to Snape, who seems to be a Slytherin baddie, but eventually turns out to be a self-sacrificing hero. It's ironic that fundamentalist Christian groups--not true Christians at all--have objected to the witchy trappings of the stories, considering that the whole story is a Christian allegory, with the Chosen One offering himself for sacrifice at the end and then is resurrected. It cannot be an accident that, in an age of declining readership, so many have read Rowling's stories.

Harry Potter and the prisoner of azkaban

In the third installment in the Harry Potter series Rowling drops Harry into his third year at Hogwarts after a difficult summer with his nasty relatives the Dursley's who give Harry a long and tiresome summer holiday filled with yelling, and an unpleasant visit from an aunt who gets more than she bargained for from the young wizard who does not deal well with ugly mutterings from a smug muggle (non-wizard or witch) about his parents. After an exciting exit from his Uncle's home Harry begins a school year at Hogwart's where he finds out that an escaped convict is after him, between this; dark magic, Hermione getting a 'homicidal' new cat this is after Ron's mouse and trying to save one of Hagrid's skin crawling creatures from extinction, this Harry Potter book was my favorite one in the series thus far.
