Genius! An absolutely fantastic book
Genius! Absolute pure gold! This is second (Happy Cat) O’Dell brother’s book and it is every bit as funny, feisty, and satisfying as the first book, Hosed. It brings on the laughter, and reading this story will just make you feel literally make your face hurt (from smiling). This book begins along the first book’s timeline, in town of Sunshine. Jace O’Dell is the hot as sin bad-boy bar owner. He is misunderstood and judged unfairly, and understands the eclectic and peace-loving Olivia more than anyone in the town. She is light and innocence and everything that he feels that he doesn’t deserve. Olivia works for the town’s sex toy factory. She is good to everyone that she meets, but knows that most people see her as “different”. She believes in the best of humanity and really tries hard to make a difference in the community. However, she is also accident prone and always seems to find herself in trouble. After the farmer’s market incident, she prepares to drown her sorrows in a drink or two. One drink leads to two, and two leads to a night of passion that she just can’t forget. The universe has delivered her soul mate, and then just as quickly rips it away. Jace has a past, and he doesn’t believe that destiny will ever allow him to be truly happy with a woman. He’s been attracted to Olivia since the first time she entered his bar, but she is too good for him. He settles for the rocky relationship with his on-again off-again girlfriend, believing that it is the best he will ever get. Until the gorgeous and eccentric Olivia spends the evening lamenting her mistakes in his bar, and lightning strikes the minute their lips touch. Just when Jace things that he might just deserve happiness, his ex-girlfriend drops a bomb, and he is faced with a tough choice. He takes a step back, but the universe just keeps throwing them back together. When Olivia discovers his Ex’s twisted game, she decides to fight for the man she loves. This book contains a crazy raccoon, a smitten alpaca, naked moon bathing, and a kidnapping. It is a story that you will not put down until the very last sentence is finished.
“This is What I’ve Been Waiting for My Entire Life.”
Welcome back to Happy Cat, the small town with a big personality. Home to a sexy times toy factory, a special kind of sexy toy football – starts with a DIL and rhymes with zildo (hoping to avoid the Zon algo here) and four-legged characters whose personalities are as big and quirky as their two-legged counterparts. George Cooney, our favorite raccoon, is in good company with Princess von Spooksalot, the timid hedgehog, and Sir Pendleton, World Class Inspector, the taxidermy squirrel in a vest, trench coat and moustache. Jace is the hot bartender in town, who has a bit of a reputation for messing up. Just ask his brother who's bailed him out of jail numerous times. But in Jace's defense, Deputy Rotten, er, Roten, is still sore from a high school prank. Jace thinks his life may be finally turning around when he starts getting to know the free-spirited, loveable Olivia Moonbeam and they share a night where their soul each recognizes its other half. Then the worst mean girl you’ve ever seen throws a monkey wrench in things, as if there isn’t already enough mayhem for the citizens of Happy Cat. If you’ve just finished a dark read, life has you down, or you just need a good laugh or fifty, this is the book for you. With hilarious zaniness, a sizzling romance, eternally endearing, quirky characters (both two and four-legged) and a mean girl you’ll love to hate, this one will squeeze your heart, make you erupt with laughter and leave you with a smile in your heart and a grin on your face. *I reviewed an advance copy of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
Quirky Lady + Hot Dude + Amazing Critters= Happy Cat
I want to pack my bags and move my family to Happy Cat!! I know that my crazy hubs and daughter would fit right in with all the characters and shoot my family could even work at Sunshine's "toy" factory if they wanted too. My granddaughter would be right at home with all the critters that seem to think they are people. George Cooney, the trash panda (raccoon) is very much active in Hammered and he has several new folks to add to his menagerie of friends. If you have read the first book in this series Hosed you will know a wee bit about Jared, the hot bartender. If not don't worry you can jump right in and be okay... but let me say READ HOSED!! You will laugh you self silly and love this book so much more. Okay back to Hammered and Jared and Olivia. Jared is the town's hot bartender and Olivia is the quirky girl in town. You know the one person you can depend on to dance around naked in the moonlight or moon-bath with her top off. She is the one person in town with the biggest heart and she can talk to the animals. Yes, like Dr Doolittle, I swear. She sees things that others do not and I promise you in spite of her quirkiness, she is one beautiful woman. And yes that is seen by all... Humans and animals alike. Hammered shows us the good, bad and yes all the amazing things out in the world. It had me laughing so hard I was crying in parts. Once again I got kicked out of bed for reading a Pippa Grand and Lili Valente book into the wee hours because I kept waking up my husband, laughing. Take a trip to Happy Cat and fall in love or at least meet Chewy, Princess and George.
Best love story ever. ♥️❤️❤️
Pippa and Lilli, are awesome together. Their imagination is so great that you will love this story from the first to the last word. Jace O'dell, is a bad boy turned bar owner who has been in love with Olive Moonbeam, from the first time she walked into the Wild Hog. To most people she's the crazy girl, who carries stones around and talk about everyone's aura. To him, she's the most special, kind, wouldn't hurt a soul, beautiful woman. When she comes to his bar and tried to drowned her sorrows, Jace, gives her what he assumed is a weak drink but soon finds out the Dr Pepper is actually spiked and since he's been drinking it to, things get a little heated They can finally be together, until Jace's ex comes back into the picture claiming she's pregnant with his baby This is a hilarious story with an alpaca 🦙, hedgehog 🦔, and of course everyone's favorite George Cooney 🦝. Can't wait for the next book. I already love it.
Pippa and Lili do it again!
Happy Cat, Happy Cat, let's all go back to Happy Cat! We can play with George Cooney the trash panda and his new friends Princess the hedgehog, Sir Pendleton the stuffed squirrel, and Chewpaca the alpaca. We can also watch Olivia the loving flowerchild, sort of, as she tries to save Jake the bad boy bartender, from himself. And fun will be had by all as they chase down villains, rescue the damsel in distress and end with the best hea. Hammered will make you laugh, cry happy tears, and everything in between. The first book in this set was Hosed. You don't have to read it first but you will be happy if you do. I was happy to receive an arc of this book for an honest review.
Quirky, sunshiny love wins
I love wounded heroes and heroines - probably because they seem to deserve a happy ending the most and Jace and Olivia are my new favorites. This book is also for all the men and women that think they are too big a disaster for and inherently unworthy of beautiful, sweet, fairytale love. This story shows us we are all worth finding what makes our heart happy. This is the second book in the Happy Cat series - the quirky town that’s home to a sex toy factory and also a shut down clown school. Jace owns a bar in town and has had an on again off again relationship with Ginger, a kindergarten teacher, since HS. He also believes he’s the screw up in his family and doesn’t deserve nice things. Olivia is a tree hugging woo woo daughter of a hippy who knows people think she’s a joke but she believes in the goodness of everything. One evening when Jace is single, he and Olivia have a magical night together. But their hopes for an HEA are dashed when Ginger tells Jace the next day that she’s pregnant and he feels he needs to do the right thing. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steamy, side splitting hilarity, tearful scenes, slight danger and mystery, an adorable hedgehog, and all kinds of heart squeezing love - expect to laugh, to swoon, and to cry. Jace and Olivia’s less than feelings were definitely palpable. While the book is quite funny, it also has three dimensional characters, witty dialogue and an engaging storyline. I am loving Happy Cat and cannot wait to hear what’s next for the O’Dell brothers.
4.5 STARS! Laugh-out-loud funny with a sweet, sexy romance!
I’ve read both Lili Valente and Pippa Grant individually, and I read Hosed, the first book in this series, and I am definitely a fan. These two authors are fantastic together! Their writing styles blended effortlessly, transitioning seamlessly between the two them, and coming together wonderfully in this story. This story flowed so smoothly and consistently, I honestly couldn’t tell who was writing what, which is exactly what I want in a collaborative effort. Hammered, the second book in the Happy Cat series, was just as charming as the first book, Hosed. This romantic comedy is set in the wacky little, Southern small town of Happy Cat, and it stars the town’s bad-boy bartender as the hero, and the Vespa-riding, aura-reading, hippie girl as the heroine. There were scheming exes and crooked cops, not to mention the little wedding that wasn’t and a couple trips to the pokey. But it was the animal action – a hedgehog with a humping hobby, a super-sleuthy but slightly judgmental squirrel and an overly amorous alpaca – who really stole the show in this laugh-out-loud romcom. With an almost slap-stick-like quality to the comedic portion of the plot, I was audibly laughing and grinning the whole way through. Wonderfully endearing side characters, a fun and comical plot with a bit of a suspenseful spin to it, and a sweet, steamy romance rounded out this story and kept me happily tapping my Kindle. Hammered was funny, entertaining and sexy, and I enjoyed every word of it. I loved this couple, I loved all the characters of kooky little town, and I can’t wait for these two perfectly partnered authors to take me back to Happy Cat. Hammered by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente gets 4.5 smooches from me!
Cute & quirky
Jace & Olivia are perfect together. She is quirky sunshine that is a perfect combination to his town’s bad boy side. Even though his bad boy status is questionable. Together, their chemistry is electric. Their relationship is a great addition to the family atmosphere of Happy Cat, GA. I love Olivia’s pure heart when she takes in Princess without hesitation. She made it so easy for Jace to fall in love with her, he just had to overcome some intense obstacles. The outcome at the end was worth all of the setbacks. And as always George Cooney was spectacular & helped save the day, Great addition to the Happy Cat series.
Review: Happy Cat 2: Hammered
Hammered by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente is the second book in their fabulous new co-written Happy Cat series. Told in dual POV between Olivia Moonbeam, the town's resident aura-reader and crystal toting bundle of positivity, and Jace O'Dell, the town bad boy with a bad reputation, no matter how undeserved. Oh, and of course, Princess von Spooksalot and George Cooney. Mustn't forget the amazing supporting cast :-) Jace has always been the bad boy, the daredevil, the one O'Dell boy guaranteed to get up to no good AND get caught for it. One spectacular night with Olivia has him wondering why he has wasted so much of his life in a toxic relationship with Ginger. Things are finally looking right in his world until he gets a call from Ginger stating she is pregnant with his child. Of course he is going to do the right thing and that, unfortunately, means saying goodbye to all the potential happiness a future with Olivia would mean. Olivia's magical night with Jace not only opened her eyes to the fact he is her kindred - umm - spirit, but also to a new furever friend when they stumble across an abandoned hedgehog she names Princess von Spooksalot. When Jace calls with the news about ginger she is devastated but also glad she has her prickly friend to keep her busy. Now, if she could only figure why she can't stop sneezing... Hilarious, angsty, super sexy, and filled with laugh out loud moments this book was awesome. It painted an even more vivid picture of the town of Happy Cat, Georgia, beyond the sex toy factory and introduced us to even more characters to laugh at, laugh with, and swoon over. Enjoy!
A crazy romp in Happy Cat!
Jace, the hot bar owner in the town of Happy Cat, is trying to a good citizen in the town, so he’s not considered the bad boy in town. He’s always had a thing for Olivia, even thou she’s clumsy and awkward. It seems the feeling is mutual, however, Jace doesn’t think he deserves her. After one hot night in his bar with her, Jace starts to believe that just maybe he can have a future with this beautiful woman. When his ex girlfriend approaches him to tell him she’s pregnant with his child, Jace knows he needs to do the honorable thing. Olivia begins to suspect that there is no pregnancy and starts to investigate. She knows Jace and her belong together and will do anything to prove something fishy is going on. This book had so many funny moments that you read with a permanent smile on your face!

Oh how I loved Hammered by Lili Valente and Pippa .
Such a fun and hilarious romantic comedy. It starts out with Jace and Olivia together at the bar. Things start getting hot and soon the clothes start coming off. Next thing you know Jace is walking Olivia home and they come across a female hedgehog in a cage just laying in the street. So Olivia decides that she has to keep it and she names it Princess von Snookums. Of course. But they are not alone because Jace's brother Ryan has a pet raccoon he named George Cooney that is also out running around and getting into neighbors garbage. Bad part of the story is when you find out about Ginger, Jace's on and off again ex-girlfriend. After someone sees Olivia and Jace together word gets back to Ginger and suddenly she says she's pregnant with his baby and she wants to get married. Well stick around and see how this story ends. More funny stuff happening and you won't believe the end...truly one of the funniest stories following Hosed by the same authors. Enjoy!
Jace + Olivia + Princess = classic fun
I am a big fan of both Pippa Grant and Lili Valenti. They write romance that is filled with humor - amazing, over the top, laugh-until-you-snort-iced-coffee-out-your-nose humor. Hammered is an instant classic. Jace has a bad reputation, but a heart of gold, and he just can't seem to break himself of a no-good girlfriend that drags him down instead of helping him up. Olivia is a peace-loving do-gooder with an instant connection to Jace, and luckily she does not give up on him. Together, they adopt a hedgehog and a stuffed squirrel, look after of George Cooney (Jace's raccoon nephew), and save Jace's hide when it looks like he may have to do the noble thing and marry his con artist on-again/off-again girlfriend. I loved going back to Happy Cat for this second installment in the series, and I hope you will, too.
HAPPY CAT AND INHABITANTS ARE MAGICAL
After reading Hosed,, I really did not think that the authors could top it, but more than top it they did. The term magical does not mean this is a paranormal book just that no matter your state of mind, temperament or even if you are sane or insane you will not stop laughing. Despite all the funniness and wonderful furriness the love story and the relationship of all the characters to each other is wonderful. Grant and Valente make a wonderful team . My one complaint is there was no mention of George Cooney's lady raccoon. I can't wait for the next in the series and keeping my fingers crossed that at the end of the Happy Cat couples book they write a book or a novella about George, Princess, Chewbacca and all other furries they add. BTW I want to give this book many more than 5 stars
Happy Cat!!
Oh this book!!! "I stole a groom. I kidnapped a husband." I loved this SO much. Jace and Olivia share an amazing connection but when Jace's ex makes a huge announcement, Jace breaks it off with Olivia. Knowing Jace does not want to get married, Olivia does the only thing she can...kidnap the groom. This book is sweet, swoony and oh-so-sexy. And hilarious, did I mention its hilarious? Because our return trip to Happy Cat includes George (of course!), a shy hedgehog and a stuffed squirrel (just trust me...they are important to the story!), plus lots of O'Dell brothers hijinks. Definitely a must read!!
Happy Cat makes me smile
Title: Hammered Author: Pippa Grant and Lili Valente Format: Ebook Genre: Romance - Comedy, small town Standalone: yes Part of a Series: Not sure if it has a name but it's the second book featuring the O'Dell brothers in Happy Cat POV: Jace and Olivia Steam Level: toasty at times 5/5 I adore Pippa Grant (and now Lili Valente) and her (their) outrageousness. I always know that when I pick up one her (their) books I'll be thoroughly entertained and Hammered was no exception. George Cooney continues to shine along with Chewpaca and the rest of the memorable characters in Happy Cat, GA. If you're looking for a romantic comedy full of animals that steal the show then pick up Hammered. You'll be glad you did.
Olivia and Jace
When I first met Have in Hosed I thought he was a sourpuss, but after reading this book I can understand with someone like Ginger in his life. I'm so happy that Olivia has come into Jaces life and turned it for the better. Once again George Cooney steals some of the scenes as well as the hedgehog. Many laugh out loud moments as well as some outrageous shenanigans going on.
Cant wait for more books in this series!
These ladies know how to keep you laughing and fully engaged in a story. I absolutely loved hosed and was not disappointed with hammered! I loved crazy quirky Olivia and no nonsense Jace. They made such an interesting couple and always had me on the edge of my seat wondering what they were going to do next. I also enjoyed getting glimpses of our favorite Happy Cat characters Ryan, cassie and let's not forget about George cooney!! Also with some new additions princess squeeksalot, sir Pendleton and of course chewpacca! These crazy characters will keep you laughing all the way till the end of the book!
True love wins
There was obviously a book before this one that had to have covered Ryan and Cassie's relationship but I haven't read it yet. This one can be read as a standalone. I LOVED Jace and Olivia. Although Jace was dubbed as a screw up, he was a great guy who wanted to do the right thing. Olivia was considered "out there" but she was the sweetest, most sincere and caring person you would ever want to meet. Although the description of the book is all about the "kidnapping of the groom," that didn't happen until quite a ways into the book. Olivia and Jace belonged together no matter what they had to endure to find their HEA.
Another Happy Cat romance.
This was such a cute book. This book is about Olivia and Jace. Olivia is a new age, hippie who has a heart of Gold. Jace owns the bar in town and has the reputation as a trouble maker. Jace and Olivia are drawn to one another but Jace has an on and off again girlfriend named Ginger who is claiming to be pregnant. This book was sweet and quirky and funny. The characters from Hosed make an appearance here so we get to see sweet George as well as a few new animal pals, a hedgehog named Princess and a alpaca named Chewpacca. Great book.
Pippa and Lili have done it again!
This is the second book in the series about Happy Cat Georgia and the second collaboration from these 2 authors and it is great! Literally anything can happen in Happy Cat and it is totally believable! I loved how the characters tried to do the right thing even though they both knew it wasn't the "right" thing. I loved all the quirky secondary characters including Chewpaca and Princess and the townspeople. And people, George Cooney is back! This story was the perfect read for me at this time. It kept me giggling all the way through.

Another comedic genius hit!!! I really have fallen in love with this author. The journey of the O'Dell brothers is one I'm gladly taking. The quirky Olivia and our cucumbered Jace are perfect for one another. When people misunderstand you, it's an amazing gift to find someone who "sees your soul" anyway. I'm glad justice is on its way for Chester and Ginger. Great ending, had me laughing so hard, a great addition to my library. And a bonus our favorite trash panda was back with a new unique pet added to the family.
One of her best ever!
Wow! This is my new favorite Pippa Grant book! Hot romance between Jace, bad boy bar owner, and Olivia, an eternal optimist and new age guru. Full range of emotions here. A few bad characters here, especially Ginger, the scheming, conniving, lying type you love to hate. Then there is the great supporting cast including George Cooney once again from Hosed and Princess von Spooksalot, the hedgehog who has taken over my heart. Great plot and fantastic book that I couldn’t put down. It is a must read!
Olivia and Jace are cute
Struggle to keep yourself from falling with the wrong person, to find he is everything... But his ex just won't let go and tells him she is pregnant. Have trying to do the right thing even though he is in love with Olivia... Hedgehogs, alpacas and George make this a very cute stort
Jace & Olivia
Truly loved them and their story. They had quite a few obstacles including a lying deceitful ex and a power hungry Sheriffs Deputy. Their love conquered and they found a truly happy ending.
Awesome read
I absolutely loved everything about this book, well, not Ginger and Chester. Olivia is an amazing character you can't help but fall in love with. Jace is the bad boy your momma warned you about. Awesome storyline and characters. Definitely a must read.
Whimsical!
I want to move to Happy Cat and be best friends with Olivia and Jace, and babysit Princess, and hang out in Olivia’s she shed. Seriously. Pippa and Lili bring the emotion, but also a fair dose of whimsy in this wonderfully charming story! Everything about this book is perfect; from the townspeople, to the diverse wildlife (or pets, but whatever). And the love that blooms between Olivia and Jace is so pure, their auras so aligned, it makes me swoon.
Fantastic
It was a fantastic book even though I didn’t really enjoy until after 50-60% into the book. But just because I’m super picky and wouldn’t normally read a book that has a love triangle or whatever you call being in love with someone but choosing to be with the other the person because “it’s the right thing to do”, doesn’t mean its a bad book. pippa grant and lili valente write great books, so I read it and I’m glad I did.
Hilariously written romance!
This book will keep you entertained from cover to cover. A little bit of everything to keep you guessing and chuckling along the way. Hedgehogs, A naughty raccoon, a taxidermy squirrel, and a frisky alpaca tossed into this unorthodox romance just makes it that much better! You'll fall in love with Jace and Olivia, and the furry characters too like Princess von Spooksalot, Sir Pendleton, George, and Chewpaca !
WOW!! So So Good!!!
Well written story and well developed characters! I love the way that all the people intertwine and interact in this whole series! Can't wait to read the next one!
Entertaining
A pet raccoon, a humping hedgehog and an alpaca whose name should be Romeo, based on his star-crossed love for Olivia, walk into a bar... OK that doesn’t actually happen but in a town like Happy Cat it certainly could. Olivia and Jace’s story was very good! This can be read as a standalone but it’s best if you read Hosed first. Meet George Cooney and the colorful characters of this little southern town.
Great sweet rom-com with heart and smiles
Love this story, not as much as Hosed though, but it was still awesome. The reason this is not 5+++ is that it was a little too much all over the place at the start of the story, it made it a little difficult to get into it. But then it was pure greatness. I loved how Olivia and Jace looked past the labels of quirky and troublemaker and instead saw the goodness in each other. Love both the authors!
Fun, hi!arious story about the adventures in Happy Cat
Love these stories based in Happy Cat. The town has a lot of different types of characters. Olivia and Jace are so wonderful together but Ginger wants him and does things in her power to get and keep him. The adventures with Jace and Olivia are crazy. The different types of animals are also hilarious. They make the story a lot more wild. Love this unique, quirky story.
Happy Cat Strikes Again
An amazing funny sweet sexy book. Jace and Olivia are an incredible couple and perfect for each other. Happy Cat is a magical place and so are many of the quirky residents. Laugh out loud moments are sprinkled in with the sweet sexy ones. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, because Blake and Hope’s chemistry is too combustible not to explode into another book.
Full of fun and surprises
I couldn’t stop reading…finished in less than a full day! So many surprises and fun moments. Thanks for keeping it suspenseful!!
Hammered
I have always loved quirky sweet people and Olivia is certainly adorable. Jace is so cranky at times, but his circumstances warrant it. Sweet read that made me smile.
Laugh-Out-Loud Good Time
Laugh-out-loud funny, sweet and sexy with plenty of feels and very little angst. Throw in a sweet little hedgehog, a stuffed squirrel, a crazy, lying ex-girlfriend, a menagerie of cute animals led by the raccoon from Hosed, Mr. George Cooney, along with a vindictive sheriff's deputy and you've got a no holds barred fun time. I can't wait to go back to Happy Cat.
Love, love, love the Happy Cat series!
Pippa and Lili have done it again! Olivia and Jace are perfect for each other, and balance each other so well; Jace's seriousness is the perfect counterpoint to Olivia's wild and free spirit. Of course theres a fun HAE. I love that George Cooney makes appearances throughout the book, and that we get to know Hope. I can't wait for Hope and Blake's story.
Take a trip to Happy Cat for the best time!
Lili & Pippa give us all the wacky, steamy bookiverse goodness!! Another trip to Happy Cat, this time for Olivia and Jace. Their happily ever after path has to overcome an obsessive on again off again girlfriend and a rude, petty deputy. Full of humor, heat, friendship, family, and an amazing menagerie of animal friends.
Great
Super sweet, super funny and nothing beats a crazy bride, a haunted clown school and a raccoon! These books are funny, and sweet and hot! I can't wait for the next one!
Funny and sweet!
You can never go wrong reading anything by Poppa Grant and Lily Valentine . I swear George Clooney in these books are freaking hilarious and who doesn't love a good story where the hotness thinks he doesn't deserve happiness but is a great guy underneath and Olivia? You want her for your best friend because she's such a good person.
Great book
This book was so funny. It had me laughing so hard. It has insta love, a hedgehog, a racoon, a zany fun cast of characters and even an extra funny epilogue written on behalf of a hedgehog. I mean what could be funnier. So sit back grab your copy and enjoy life for a bit, with no worries just laughter. Happy reading.
Another silly fun romp.
Whimsy and sweetness seem to be the call of Olivia and Jace. There is just the right amount of angst with Ginger and the creepy deputy. But happy ever after prevails.
Cute
The book itself was great, cute story line, different from the usual. Although not for this series of books. Always enjoy reading both of these authors. Only thing I am objecting to is when the book first came out you had to buy it,then 2 days later in came available on Kindle Unlimited, which I have,so seems manipulative.
Cute read
Funny, zany and lovable characters. When you finish reading this story you will feel good albeit a bit sad cause it ended. HEA. No cliffhanger. No descriptive erotic sex scenes. Little angst, little mystery, some sexy times, crazy ex who don’t want to stay ex, lovable pets who know they are family. Enjoy
Great read!
Love, adventure, weddings & crazy clowns. You are sure to love this book. George will save the day in this book.
A fun sexy adventure
Jace and Olivia like each other, really like each other. When they finally get together, all kinds of crazy things happen, This is a fun loving journey of hope, loyalty and love. Some nail biting moments as well as fun, chuckling ones. I would definitely recommend for a afternoon or beach read.
Holy Hedgehog
I loved this book. Such a great read. The chemistry between Jace and Olivia is amazing. As always with Pippa Grant and Lili Valente, you will laugh out loud. Definitely on my list as a must read.
Another hit by Pippa and Lili!
I love Jace and Olivia's love story! With Princess the hedgehog, a stuffed squirrel detective, and of course, George Cooney, what could go wrong? LoL And with Grant and Valente writing the book, lots does. Throw in a crazy alpaca names Chewpaca, and this book can't fail. I highly recommend!
LOL funny!
The world of Happy Cat just keeps on getting funnier. George Cooney cracks me up and jace’s and Olivia’s story is amusing yet sweet. Overall a delightful read, I can’t wait for more O’Dell boy love stories and Happy cat antics!
Perfect
What a great book. It's light and fun with a plot that keeps you guessing. Love Pippa Grant's books. Perfect for when you need something that will make you laugh and lighten your soul.
Best book yet!
This was another great book from these authors. Love Happy Cat and the O'Dell brothers. Cant wait to see the next story! Love George Cooney and Princess vonSpooksalot. How could anyone abandon a hedgehog? Pretty sure she is my spirit animal.
A 10 Star read!!
Not enough stars to give these two and this book!! Hilarious! I swear this series gets better and better! I love this town and these characters human and animal! Oh my gosh princess is my spirit animal!!
A fun, heart-warming book
This is a laugh-out loud romance with a ton of heart. A pager turner that won't fail to make you smile.
A great happy romp
This book has laughs, love, and a bit of intrigue. It's refreshing after reading so many dark books. Relatable characters that build throughout the series. Loved the quirks of the Happy Cat community.
Roller coaster
Loved this. It was like a rollercoaster beginning to end. So glad it worked out, but wow what a journey!!! A must read for sure. Cant wait for the next one. I hope its Blake and Hope's story!!
Another Winner
As usual this story did not disappoint. The characters are well written and quirky. I was laughing so hard at Georgy Coony. Gosh the names are so hilarious. A great read
It's everything you would expect from the author! Excellent read!
Now I'm not sure which I loved more, Hosed or Hammered! Laugh out loud with Hammered. Thought I had the plot line figured out, so glad to be wrong. Excellent Excellent read!
Loved it!
I love this book. Can I live in Happy Cat? Liv and Jace are perfect for each other. Now throw in George, Princess, and Chewy now you have one of the best stories I have ever read.
LOL Hilarious
I absolutely loved this book! It was LOL hilarious and Jace & Olivia were so good together. I can't wait to see what happens next in this crazy town.
Love it
I absolutely loved the continuation of this series. As with all of the books by these authors this is well written and entertaining.
Loved Hammered
The best book on the series. Totally loved it !!.. Could not put it down. Need to get a baby hedgehog after reading hammered just to cute !!!!
The sweetest and cutest
I loved Hammered just as much as I loved Hosed. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Another great collaboration!
Another great book with an unforgettable cast of characters. There were even a few twists I wasn't expecting. Overall a sweet story showing the lightheadedness of love.
Wonderful
Funny, weirdly romantic and very entertaining. I couldn't put it down.
Hammered ...knocked me out!
As usual, these ladies (aka two of my most favorite authors) nailed it! Loved this story to pieces! Keep on!
Another Pippa Grant Lili Valente masterpiece.
All the feels with this one! Could not put it down. I want to move to Happy Cat! So good!
Loved it!
Loved it!!!
Great book
Great book
Love
Loved, loved, loved it.
Amazing romantic comedy with a twist!
I love that Pippa and Lili keep the reader on their toes. It has enough twist and turns to keep you so entertained you finish the book in a day.
Awesome
Amazing writing. I loved every minute. Can't wait for the next story to come out. I am addicted! Pure suspense all the way.
Not What the Story Sounds Like and Surprise Ending
Hammered is book two in the Happy Cat series. It can be read as a standalone book, but it does build on characters introduced in book #1. So, Jace and Ginger have had an on again, off again relationship since high school. When Jace is finally ready to throw in the towel for good, Ginger has sudden news that she is pregnant with his baby. The last time they were together was a trip to Mexico a couple months ago, so it is possible but, wow, after months of off again what in the world? Olivia is the town aura reader, flower child and cheerful optimist all rolled into one. Jace and she have sex together at his bar one night, but then he gets back together with his ex-girlfriend who is pregnant. They try to forget about their connection for that baby's sake with limited success but no stepping out. The story turns more than a bit crazy at the end and you'll find out that Ginger isn't all the is supposed to be and more than a bit unbalanced.
Good book
This book was pretty good. A bit slow in the beginning while Jace keeps trying to do the right thing by sticking with Ginger, his on again off again girlfriend, even though he very much prefer to be with Olivia. But things turn for the better about 1/2 way through the book and it got to be so good, I couldn’t stop reading. I ended up finishing the book even though it’s 2:30am on a work night. It’s that good in the last 1/2 of the book. Things got exciting and there’s lots of action. Jace and Olivia are so sweet together, you can’t help but root for them. The last half is super good and fun to read so it’s worth going through the slight frustration in the beginning where Jace wants Olivia but felt he had to do right by Ginger, before getting to the good stuff.
Perfect balance of romance, comedy, and mystery
Characters and their interactions with each other feel relatable and real despite all the silliness happening around them. I love the mystery embedded in these books along with its comedic quirkiness. I think some of the elements in this story are difficult to deliver realistically, but this book got it right. George is still my favorite character though. Lol I'm glad he was still included quite a bit in this book as well. I'd have to say so far Jace is my favorite brother.
Disappointed
I usually like these authors’ books, and really liked the first book in this series. I liked Jace and Olivia in that book and was looking forward to their story. But I’m at 68% through, had to put it down from annoyance several times and come back later, and I’m not even certain that I’ll finish it. Without spoilers, the main premise of the book is something that, given the situation, most people would have questioned. Instead, the hero, and everyone around him, accepts without question and gets all torn up about it. To me the “problem” was obvious and could have been solved in about 5 minutes, saving Olivia and Jace a lot of heartburn. A lot of people gave this a good rating, so maybe it’s just me, but I sure hope the next book (which I already have and plan to read) is better than this one.
Hijinks and Hilarity
I knew returning to Happy Cat would be a silly and eventful trip, I was right. There was a couple of people that needed someone to love and they found each other amongst shenanigans, hedgehogs and other things. It was a very cute story, the writers did a good job of making the characters likeable and you were rooting for them the whole time. It isn't a believable story, by that I mean, the silliness is beyond believeable, but we love these books for just that reason, right?! h was super sweet, while seemingly a little naive, the H seemed like he was being put in his place and held there, when he could have easily asserted himself for some proof from his fiance. This is not my favorite book by this duo or either author, but it's VERY easy to read and get lost in this fantastic story. -4stars. - based solely on my comparison to other books by the authors and my own story preferances. The writing is great here!! Have a great time reading and get this book!
Great romantic comedy!
If you don't have a sense of humor and are willing to just go with this story, don't even bother. The story was hilarious and lots of fun. It's silly and ridiculous...and it's just what the world needs right now. There's a hedgehog named Princess Spooks A Lot, a raccoon named George Cooney and a stuffed squirrel dressed like Sherlock Holmes that somehow gives advice. If that's too much for you, keep looking for another book to read. I listened to the audio version of this book and I enjoyed the narration by Virginia Rose and Jacob Morgan as much as I enjoyed the story.
Crazy shenanigans
Another instalment in the hilarious happy cat series. What doesn’t happen in happy cat? Of course George Cooney makes an appearance alongside some more quirky animal characters. Jace is happy cats resident bad boy & bar owner & is always breaking it off with his crazy girlfriend but has always had his eyes on Olivia but decides when they are back together with his girlfriend to do the honourable thing & get married. Or so they thought until someone kidnaps the groom! So many shenanigans, steamy times & laugh out loud moments in this book. Well worth taking a trip to crazy town or rather happy cat! You don’t have to have read hosed to read this but it certainly sets the craziness scene of happy cat & the peeps in it.
Laugh Out Loud
The chemistry between Olivia and Jace is magnetic. Olivia is a fun, sweet, kooky character, and I just loved her. Jace is trying so hard to be more that he doesn't realize that he is enough. The story brings us back to Happy Cat, GA and we get to know the O'Dell brothers a little better as a set up for the next two books. I love the supportive friendships that are developing between the ladies. The scene where Olivia kidnaps the groom is laugh out loud funny. No book where Pippa Grant is involved would be complete without a menagerie of animals and we are introduced to hedgehogs and alpacas but also get a fair amount of George Cooney. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next in the series.
happy cat book = happy reading
Oh my gosh, I LOVE these Happy Cat books! I can't wait for the next two, these are so much fun! Olivia seemed like a hippie ditz but she was really a character with a huge heart. And Jace, the former screw up trying to be better was just so endearing. I love the antics, the humor the fun- it all works so well :) Ginger was a nasty, ugly character though-yuck! She was a lot of crazy, maybe over the top. But otherwise- super enjoyable and eagerly awaiting the next installments!
Bizarre twist!!
This story had more twists and turns in it. Crazy couples who kept your interest. Bat crazy ex girlfriend and messed up local deputy made you scratch your head. But in the end Jase and Olivia got their happy ever after!!
So nuch fun!
I giggled my way through this one! Especially the drunken emojis! Can't wait for book 3.
3.5 stars
I was all set to love this book because I'm a huge fan of the quirky and zany Poppa Grant. However, I struggled with this one. Normally, I love the crazy animal antics but this just had me skimming over it. I liked the characters but not the story. I hope the next book is better.
So Good.
I am loving this series and the Town of Happy Cat. You just smile all the way through this amazing read. Love it!
I don’t like it when authors write dumb characters
No matter whether you trust someone or not, anyone with a brain in their head would insist on proof. And who knows why he believes her, because he knows she’s manipulated him before. DUMB character. I liked the absurd story until the idiocy was thrown in. Then it just became a chore to finish.
Fun series!
Happy Cat, Georgia is the place to be! Between the sex toy factory, the crazy raccoon and nosy neighbors, there’s trouble to be found all around the town. There’s also loads of love there.
Lots of LOL-ing!
I laughed so much that I cried. I truly laughed out loud. You can't get a better heroine and hero for a book... I love Olivia's quirkiness and Jace for embracing it. Add a raccoon, a hedgehog, a Vespa, a drunk groom, and a abandoned clown school, this is a great read!
Quick Read
Cute story about Olivia and Jace. HEA is there, but there is some conflict to work through first. Nice to see the brothers again.
Racoon, alpaca and hedgehog make this book fun.
Welcome back to Happy Cat, Georgia. Olivia & Jace find love but run into tons of trouble. They ultimately get help from George Cooney and Chewbaca along with Princess the hedgehog. This is a great romantic comedy . i think it started out slow but became a fun book .
Sneeze and smile!
Unfiltered and unfettered joy and love is the sweetest thing to read! Meant-to-be's are also my favorite. Add in hilarious animal-people and a quirky town and you have a really good read!
Watch for hedgehogs
Cute story but not so great that it kept me from skipping here and there. I don't think I've ever read this author before - not completely enamored and why I didn't give more stars.
Torture
I'm confused about the good reviews. Only made it to 33% and had to quit. The internal thoughts of the characters are so discombobulated and the time wasted talking about a horny hedgehog are a brain drain. Skip this one.
Just too stupid
Too much nonsense and not enough actual story, so this is a no thank you and do not want to read this author again.
Hilarious, sweet, with all the feels…
In the dictionary, beside the words ‘romantic comedy’ should be this series! I’m only two stories in and I am smitten. The hoops that Jace and Olivia had to go through were filled with funny pitfalls, delightfully over the top situations and all of them – all of them! – fit their courtship perfectly… These characters were at a crossroads. It felt like they were starting over and each was looking at the other with stars in their eyes. Falling in love should be sweet and swoony And it was, if crazy characters and off the wall four-legged friends were included… Olivia reminded me of a serene flower child with a sunny outlook that couldn’t be squashed no matter the provocation. Jace responded to that light, was drawn to it, and would fight all obstacles to be the man she deserved. To be her man. With George Cooney’s help (he’s back y’all and he was the best!), and the able assistance of a horny hedgehog (yup, you read that right!), each crisis triggered laugh out loud moments and swoony, loving devotion. Their road was full of sweet moments, steamy scenes, snarky texts (gotta love family, right?) with an oh-so-satisfying conclusion… *Reviewed for 1-Click Addict Support Group
My favorite story in this series
"We’re all just people, Jace. Doing our people thing. And sometimes we get it right, and sometimes we get it wrong, but we all have hearts and dreams and we all deserve joy." I was a bit hesitant to read this story. I'm not a fan of books where one of the main characters spends any significant amount of time in a relationship with the wrong person. The way this story was set up at the end of Happy Cat book 1, it was clear that Ginger was absolutely wrong for Jace. But now, I'm absolutely glad I read it because while Ginger *is* absolutely wrong for Jace, Olivia is 100 percent perfect for him. True to the series, this story is romantic comedy gold. The humor is wonderfully ridiculous and the characters are simply endearing. Jace is perceived as the town bad-boy, but he's really not. He goes above and beyond to try to do the right thing even to the detriment of his own happiness. Thank goodness Olivia is around to rescue him from all that. While Jace and Olivia navigate the rocky road on the way to their happily ever after, I fell a little bit more in love with them on every page. "Dreams have a chance of coming true, if you work hard and believe even harder. But until genies become a real thing, wishes are just a waste of your soul fire."
Laugh out loud funny
Welcome back to the quirky town of Happy Cat. This small town of full of romance and fun individuals. Jace has a reputation as the town bad boy and Olivia is the good girl, though she is also on the eccentric side of life. Two people who seem so different but yet, somehow, they are perfect for each other. Jace and Olivia have an instant connection, they are both drawn to each other. Of course, Jace’s on and off again relationship with Ginger is back on, despite Jace not feeling any sort of attraction to Ginger, he is trying to be a good man when she says she is pregnant with his baby. He wants to be there and make things work for the sake of his unborn child. Olivia is hurt, she had on magical night with Jace and now she can’t stop thinking about him, she can’t stop wanting him. Well these two crazy residents of Happy Cat get happily ever after they deserve? I died of laughter throughout this entire story. I couldn’t put it down. I loved how caring and loving Olivia is for every person and animal she meets. Of course, she would adopt a hedgehog and befriend an adorable Alpaca, plus the town trash panda, George Cooney.
More Happy Cat shenanigans!
Olivia is one of the sweetest people in Happy Cat. She’s cheerful and positive. Her attitude and beliefs fall squarely on the side of New Age, spreading love and good vibes where she can. She loves working for her friend’s adult toy factory. And.. she loves Jace O’Dell, the town bad boy. Jace is constantly running afoul of the law. He has a rather tumultuous relationship with the town’s beloved kindergarten teacher, Ginger. They’ve been off and on again so many times that it leaves heads spinning. And.. he is drawn to Olivia, despite feeling that he’s not good enough for her. Olivia is sure that a good heart beats in Jace’s chest, so when he and Ginger split up again she jumps at the chance to make him hers. One hot night later, and everything seems to be coming together nicely. But Ginger shows up the next morning with devastating news – she’s pregnant and Jace’s the father. Jace reluctantly agrees to marry Ginger because he wants to do the honorable thing for the baby. Olivia is completely certain that Jace is her soul mate, and she refuses to let the scheming Ginger have her man. So, with a little help from a friend, she hatches a plan to kidnap Jace before he can make the biggest mistake of BOTH their lives. As always, the cast of colorful characters flesh out the small town. A jealous deputy hell bent on harassing Jace. Princess, Olivia's overly affectionate pet hedgehog. And of course, George Cooney, the pet raccoon from Hosed, plays a large role. I love the people (and animals) of Happy Cat, and I look forward to reading further entries in the series. Definitely a fantastic read! I received an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Sunshine, Hedgehogs, Happy Cat
Fans of Pippa and Lilli's little slice of Georgia goodness knows that we are going to have a real good time when we get to visit Happy Cat and all of her hometown residents. Jace and Olivia do not disappoint. Has their ever been a sweeter, more pure heroine than Olivia Moonbeam? The answer is no. She wins all the awards for being the kindest, most thoughtful person in Happy Cat if not all of Georgia. She tries so hard to do the right thing for everyone even if it shakes her chakras a bit out of whack. Jace has been forever thought of as the O'Dell family screw up (but really only by him and a few unworthy folks) and he is determined to be the best father he can be when his on again, off again girlfriend says she's expecting. Right after his life was full of sunshine and moonbeams and love and the promise of happily ever after with someone who isn't the aforementioned girlfriend. They were in an off again phase. But even the hopeful feeling in his heart, deters Jace when it comes time to be the man he knows he can be to be the best father for his child. Even if it means sacrificing lightness for his former girlfriend's darker self. But never fear dear reader, this is Happy Cat, GA after all and happy endings are in sight. But first there has to be a few kidnappings, clowns, licking alpacas, a save the day raccoon and a little surprise for the heroes of our story. This is the sweetest, happiest of HEA'S I've read in a while and I thank Pippa and Lilli for taking us back to a very special place. I look forward to returning for Hitched.
Laugh out loud funny.
It was so much fun to return to Happy Cat Georgia and catch up on the fine folks that live there. This is book 2 in this series but they are standalone so no worries if you missed book 1 although trust me you will want to read it. So funny. So, now we are on to Jace and Olivia's somewhat unromantic hookup. Poor Jace, he has been in trouble most of his life and his long term on again, off again girlfriend Ginger won't seem to let him move on with his life. Just when he finds the perfect person for him, Olivia, wouldn't you know that the universe swoops in and kicks him in his sensitive parts or so it seems. Thank goodness Olivia has other plans. This is the funniest series. These characters both human and furry are laugh out loud, pee your pants comedy. Taking Lili Valente and Pippa Grant and pairing them up to write this book/series is a powerhouse of hilarious. Not to give any of the story away but I just love George, Princess, and Chewpaca. They could write a story about the fur babies told from their perspectives and I would love to read it. The great thing about this book is it's not only so funny and so well written but it has a unconventional love story that is perfect for Jace and Olivia. I absolutely loved it. I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I love it! I highly recommend it! and I can't wait for the next book, fingers crossed it will be soon because I have fell in love with Happy Cat Georgia and all the residence that live there.
Just lovely
This is such a gently sweet romance that I found myself sighing out loud like a teenager 😍 Jace is supposedly the town bad boy, having fallen foul of local law enforcement, aka the local ex school bully. However, he is a good guy to his absolute core, even going as far as try to salvage a relationship with an ex girlfriend when she informs him she's pregnant. I guessed where this part of the story was going early on, but I enjoyed how the two authors got us there. I will go so far as to say Ginger is the villain here not the kind Jace! Jace is actually in love with transplanted local, Olivia. She talks to animals, uses new age methods to help and heal people. She is sort of a modern day hippy, with goodness falling out of every pore in her body. I loved this couple, seemingly opposites, they are actually very similar under the surface. They both would happily sacrifice themselves to allow others to be happy. Both try very hard to have a positive outlook even when circumstances are bleak. As a reader of both authors, I was eager to read this second book in the series, the first being Hosed, I was looking forward to laughing aloud at the crazy antics this pair throws on their hapless characters. I wasn't disappointed in the least. I loved the madcap hijinks one minute, then contrasting it with some serious romantic interludes. This helped round out the story of high versus low, silly versus serious. Can't wait for more from this extremely talented duo. I enjoyed every moment of reading this beautiful story.
Back in Happy Cat
Hammered is book 2 in the Happy Cat series and another great collaboration between the author duo, Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. You never know what craziness Happy Cat has in store for you. Olivia is the town's spiritual guru. She would never hurt a soul, so when she accidentally almost does what better way to drown her sorrows than with some heavy drinking and the town's bad boy Jace O'Dell. Olivia sees more than his bad boy reputation, and what she sees she really likes. One night of some heavy passion and she is hooked for good. Jace doesn't care that everyone in town thinks Olivia is a bit on the cooky side. What he sees is a sweet soul that goes far and beyond to help all living things she comes in contact with. Whether it be a friend, a hedgehog, or even a dead stuffed squirrel. Olivia is one of a kind and Jace finally feels like he has found his person. That is until his on and off again ex comes back into his life; and before he knows it, he is getting ready to say "I DO" to the wrong person. Knowing he has to do right by his ex, Jace works really hard to get Olivia out of his head and heart. Easier said than done. Can Olivia get to Jace in time to stop him from making the biggest mistake of his life, or will she lose him forever? I couldn't stop laughing throughout this book. I thought Pippa and Lili were so creative, including the hedgehog's obsession with the squirrel. Truly a genius idea! I also loved how different Jace and Olivia were but together they made sense. Well done ladies!
Hilarious
Jace O'Dell knows he is done with his on again and off again girlfriend, he is tired of being in a rut and who says he can't be happy and move past his bad boy persona. Jace knows the one person who makes him feel like a different man is Olivia Moonbeam, she is everything good if not a bit nutty. When one drink leads to another they both act on their feelings planning to move forward, but when Jace's ex announces she is pregnant he is determined to the right thing even if it means giving up Olivia. However Olivia is determined to see if this is the right thing for Jace and if it means kidnapping him at the alter so be it. Best in the series so far. I loved Jace he is growly and trying so hard to be a good man but his reputation and a pesky cop make it difficult. Olivia is terrific and her little hedgehog is adorable. I laughed throughout the book.
Return to Happy Cat
*I received a free copy from the author to read and review* After reading Hosed, I was sooo looking forward to this book. And I have to say, I loved it even more! Jace, oh my goodness, is super hot. He’s the town bad boy and has gotten into quite a bit if trouble with the law. But he is still incredibly caring and sweet. I love how honorable he is, even if it tends to be misplaced. Olivia is a beautiful soul. While she may seem weird to some, it’s only in the very best way. More people should be as kind, selfless, accepting, and charitable as Olivia Moonbeam. Even when she decides to save Jace, she does it for his own well-being. Whether it means they’ll be together or not. And her nurturing spirit is so admirable, especially when it comes to abandoned animals (whether living or stuffed). Jace and Olivia balance each other out so well. She finds family and acceptance with him and he sees how good and worthy he is through her eyes. Gah! I just love them both so much! The story reminded me a lot of Royally Pucked and a but of Rockaway Bride, but with more suspense mixed in. Even with a rotten villain or two, Hammered was full of moments that had me literally laughing out loud. This is a book I will reread because every minute of it was enjoyable.
Jace and Olivia!
We originally met Jace in Hosed, the first book of the series, as he is Ryan’s brother. He is the sexy bar owner of The Wild Hog who has made his mistakes in the past but is a good man. He has been involved in a on again/off again relationship with his girlfriend but during this last off period he has decided that it should be permanent. Olivia is viewed by the town as being quirky and eccentric, but she is comfortable with who she is and she has Princess, her hedgehog, as company. After a particularly stressful day she stop in for a drink or maybe a bottle and the chemistry that has been simmering between her and Jace finally ignites. They have both decided that one night is not enough and they want to explore the feelings between him but his ex has other plans. Before Jace knows what is happening Jace is about to become a groom until Olivia and Princess decide a kidnapping is in order. I loved these two together as Olivia makes Jace want to be a better man but Olivia thinks that he is perfect for her just the way he is. Fun times, humorous banter, great characters and hot chemistry all combine into a storyline that will keep you entertained until the last page. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Hedgehogs, an Alpaca, and a squirrel - oh my!
Another crazy Happy Cat mystery/romance! In the first Happy Cat book, Hosed, we met Ryan O'Dell, Cassie, and George Cooney along with many in the town of Happy Cat. This time, Ryan's brother, Jace, and one of Cassie's friends, Olivia are the main characters. Between the crazy animal antics, community service and crazy weather, you are in for a treat! And now a bit about the story... Jace is the town bad boy, but he has turned good - he owns the local bar. Olivia moved from Califonia to work for Savannah at the sex toy factory. After almost killing a resident at the farmer's market, due to allegies, Liv is beside her self. Until they get a little drunk on Dr. Pepper and finally figure out how good they can be together. Then they find a magical stuffed squirrel, a hedgehog, and things start to get a little crazy. Then through in a pregnant ex! Favorite passage: Denial is what grown-ups do. They deny themselves permission to do things that are bad for them and force themselves to make reasonable choices. I eat kale at least twice a week, even though it tastes like stir-fried butt grass. Note: I was given a free copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.
So Freaking GOOD!
Hammered was EVERYTHING I didn't know I needed! Let me start with both these authors are new for me and I didn't know this was a standalone book that can be read as part of a series! Now that I know these two Brilliant authors have a previous book called Hosed!!! I will be reading it, because I just love these characters and all of their crazy! Hammered was a laugh out loud book that pulls out all the feels! Olive is just one of those characters you instantly love and connect with! She was everything pure and sweet in this world! Never have I loved a female character so hard! Jace, whew, that guy he's stuck in S*** so deep, to him it feels like there's no way out! The connection that Jace and Olive have is something so special! I was so enamored by it! but of course, nothing is ever just that simple or easy! Throw in Jace's crazy on again off again girlfriend, one adorable raccoon, a horny hedgehog, and a little something called fate, and we have a story, unlike anything I've ever read! It was emotional, hilarious, scary and Beautiful! I definitely more than loved it! Can't wait to read the previous book and the next one! I received an Arc in exchange for an honest review.
Hilarious and sweet
You know when you read a book by these two authors, the book will be funny. There will be odd duck animals (George Cooney! Princess von Spooksalot!) that add to the hilarity. In this case, there is a stuffed squirrel as well. (Don't ask, just read). But the real gift of these authors is the ability to create likable characters that you just wish were your friends. And wacky, insane antagonists that you can't help but laugh at, even at the height of their evilness. Olivia is a lovely, eccentric character, full of love and light. Jace is the bad boy in town trying to do good. They finally get together and realize they were meant for each other. But then Jace's on-off ex announces she's pregnant and he tries to be a good father and partner. The ex is pretty awful and I cringed a lot and I was constantly feeling bad for Olivia and Jace. How do they find their way back to each other? Yes, there's a kidnapping (or more accurately, a runaway groom) and other hijinks. It's a fun ride and I enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like as much is that I felt like they dragged the Jace/Ginger (the ex) thing out a bit too long.
Hilarious and a must read.
The blurb for this story had me hooked straight away and I couldn’t wait to dive into the story..I can honestly tell you it was a good decision. The humour in this story is hilarious and has you smiling and chuckling practically the whole way through the book. Expressions such as ‘pants pickle’ make very clear visuals but are fun and inoffensive. From the fun banter to the sometimes silly scenes, the comedic addiction is wonderful. Even when the drama heats up and the suspense deepens, there are lighter moments. Jace O’Dell and Olivia Moonbeam are both really likeable characters and you desperately want them to get together, knowing that they deserve each other..in a good way. Their chemistry is off the charts hot and they’re so well suited. A couple of secondary characters need mentioning: Princess von Spooksalot and Sir Pendleton who were immediately adopted by Olivia and become the basis of many a humorous sentence or two as well as George Cooney. This raccoon is such a character all on his own he could almost have his own novella! 😂 I totally recommend you read this sensational book.
A small town kidnapping gone wrong!! ❤
Super sweet, crazy love story that I've totally come to expect from Pippa and Lili after Hosed!! Olivia Moonbeam and Jace O'dell are cosmic-ly meant to be together says the universe and according to Olivia maybe?!? However, a crazy ex, a baby on the way and an unexpected wedding and subsequent kidnapping all get in the way of Olivia and Jace. Olivia is a finder of things, and in one night finds Jace, a hedgehog who spooks easily and a discarded stuffed squirrel with a mustache and changes her whole world completely. Jace having been the town screw up/bad boy in Happy Cat is just trying to do the right thing even if that means going against his heart. Will hearts or head win out?? And with the sheriff seeming out to get Jace, can he get the girl in time? Absolutely love Happy Cat and all the eceletic and quirky residents of the town as they butt in to help their fellow neighbors. Even if there's a criminal element, lol, dumping hedgehogs, multiple kidnappings (and issues at the factory) and a haunted clown school. I received an ARC for a voluntary and honest review.
Crazy and hilarious RomCom
I’m a huge Pippa Grant fan. This is a fun second collaboration between Pippa and Lili Valente picking up with many of the characters from Hosed. Olivia Moonbeam is a sweet heroine who falls in love with Jace O’Dell after a one night hookup in his bar, the Wild Hog. Jace was broken up with his longtime on/off manipulative girlfriend Ginger. Ginger tells Jace the very next morning that she is pregnant with his baby, so Jace tells Olivia he is going to be a father and do right by his baby. Olivia makes an effort to leave Jace alone despite running into him all over town. On the day of his rushed nuptials, Olivia accidentally kidnaps the groom. The next day both Olivia and Jace wake up to a wild scenario that is straight out wild and hilarious - pure Pippa Grant/Lili Valente gold. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for another Pippa/Lili collaboration to visit the sparks that Hope/Blake are generating! I received an ARC from the authors and am willingly leaving an honest review.
I seriously need to live in Happy Cat!
For some reason I had lower expectations with Hammered (I’m not exactly sure why), but I ended up loving it. Yes, there weren’t as many hilarious interactions with George who is still my absolute favorite character but there were some other entertaining animals. Yes, Olivia was a little bit harder to connect with, she was so free spirited and eccentric that I couldn’t relate. Jace was another extremely attractive O’Dell brother but he was easily manipulated throughout the entire book by Ginger. Even with all the issues I might have had with certain aspects, as a whole the book completely worked! Together Jace and Olivia were great, and I enjoyed the twist to the story… it made it not so predictable. George will always be number one, but the image of Princess with a scarf around her quills riding in the side car makes me laugh every time! I can’t to get to the other brothers books! Jacob Morgan and Virginia Rose did another great job bringing the residents of Happy Cat to life!
Funny, Silly, Quirky
Hammered (Happy Cat#2) by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente Even though this is book 2, it can be read as a standalone. I didn't know this was a series till I went to mark it as currently reading. Jace O'Dell is the town screw up. One night at his bar he ends up spending time with Olivia. She is very quirky and the townspeople think she is odd. However Jace has a things for her but he thinks she is out of his league. After having a few drinks they end up hooking up but it is short lived due to Ginger, Jace's off and on again girlfriend. He wanted to be with Olivia but Ginger isn't having it. Let the antics begin. This was a extremely entertaining story. Absolutely comical. I loved the characters especially Olivia. She is an absolute hoot. The entire town is funny. I am definitely going to be reading book 1 which is about Jace's older brother Ryan. The town is called Happy Cat; it should be called Crazyville. If you're looking for a story that has you laughing from the beginning to end, this is the book. Loved it! 4.5 stars for me.
This book is funny, sweet, and easy to read
Pippa and Lili are an excellent writing team, as book two in this series demonstrates. Jace O'Dell is the town screw up, but he wants to prove all the naysayers wrong. Olivia Moonbeam is the one woman who looks past all the gossip to see the real him, and Jace finds himself falling for her after a steamy encounter behind his bar. But when his on-off girlfriend, Ginger, tells him she's pregnant, Jace is determined to do the right thing by his child, regardless of how he feels for their mother. So he reluctantly breaks it off with Olivia and agrees to marry Ginger. The only way he can get through the ceremony is drunk, so he doesn't so much as murmur a protest when Olivia turns up on her Vespa and whisks him away. What will the townsfolk say? Will Jace go through with doing the right thing, or will he follow his heart? Will Ginger let her man go so easily? This book is funny, sweet, and easy to read. This is the kind of book that will take your mind off everything and just allow you to enjoy a good story.
Hippies, Hedgehogs, and Happily Ever After
Hammered is the second book by Grant and Valente set in their "Happy Cat, Georgia" world, but each can be read as a standalone. The humor in this delightful rom-com runs the gamut from delicate turns-of-phrase to downright silliness and it all works together to tell the story of Jace and Olivia's near-instalove courtship and HEA. The spark, the connection, between them is palpable from the start, and the steamy scenes are combustible. It's not all fluff, though; I still cried a few tears of concern and of sentiment along the way. Reading it was an immersive experience and I highly recommend it! EDITED TO ADD: Seems to be some drama among reviewers regarding whether Jace "abandons" Ginger and their baby. Let me just say that the authors create some tension along the way, but read in its entirety, the story has a complete, all-encompassing, all-bases-covered, 100 percent HEA. The good guys triumph, the bad guys are shunned, and NO ONE - including any fetuses or newborns - is left in the lurch.
Another brilliant collaboration for these two ladies.
Whoever decided that these two ladies should collaborate on a book (or series) together was a genius. They created an amazingly quirky little town of Happy Cat with residents that for the most part you can’t help but love and animals/pets that are more fun than some of the townsfolk. When I read Hosed, I just knew that Jace and Olivia’s story was going to be great. He is considered the town screw up and she is the aura reading free spirit. All it takes is one night and a little alcohol for them to realize that they belong together. However, Jace’s ex steps in and ruins all of their plans. Yes, you can read this as a stand-alone, but then you won’t understand all the fun of George Cooney and some of the other colorful characters of Happy Cat. I honestly cannot get enough of this town and the O’Dell family and I hope that the other two brothers get their chance at love. If you are looking for a quirky, feel good romance this is the book for you.
Awesome
So Jace is the troublemaker in the family. He has been on again off again with his girlfriend Ginger for YEARS. When they break up he says it's for good. Then he has a one night stand with Olivia. The town woo woo girl. The one who believes is chakras and such. The BAM Ginger pops up saying she's pregnant. So him and Olivia never really get a shot at being together. Jace steps up to marry Ginger so he can be the dad he wants. But Olivia steals him from his wedding. Come to find out Ginger was faking! No baby. But Olivia is pregnant from the one night they has together. Happily ever after ensues. But seriously the discussions Jace has with himself about his cucumber are HILARIOUS. This book will give you all the feels and make you laugh out loud.
5+ super, funny, sexy stars
5+ stars I am absolutely loving this series of books and I had a smile on my face reading this story. It was hilarious. The crazy people of Happy Cat are my kind of people. I loved the insta-messages that post the towns shenanigans for all to see and the crazy animals that these people have as pets; I mean, a raccoon called George Cooney? What is not to love? The O’Dell boys are fabulous, their texts to each other had me giggling out loud. I loved Jace and Olivia and their mad menagerie and I was cheering them on even with Jace’s mental ex girlfriend. Then there is Olivia and her hippy-dippy ways, which are so endearing that I couldn't help but smile, especially when she talked about healing crystals and auras. She is beyond sweet. I really hope we have more books from the O’Dell boys and the goings on in town. This is one series I highly recommend.
Happy Cat at it's funniest!
Not only do I want to live in Happy Cat (well I'd settle with a fun vacation there too) but I also REALLY want Olivia for a friend. I love that woman! She is fun, unique, and so sweet how could you not love her?? I love how she calls Jace her Kindred P***s and she talks to stuffed squirrels. And who doesn't love an adorable hedgehog named Princess von spooksalot?? We can't forget Jace either. What's not to love about him? Okay well because of Ginger (BOO) he starts out as a walking doormat. He just can't seem to build up the balls to stop her conniving. Liv makes him SUCH a better person. Clowns, an alpaca named Chewpaca, more of the O'Dell brothers... what's not to love. These two great ladies have created a masterpiece again. Go back to Happy Cat and read this book. Can't wait for more!! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Return to Happy Cat!
I want to start off saying that I never in a million years thought I would want a pet hedgehog, but here I am. I also didn’t think I would ever read a book with one. I not only read it, but I loved it. I’ve read everything by Pippa Grant and I’m working my way through Lili Valente’s back list. These two authors make an amazing team. They are fantastically funny. Poor Jace just wants to get away from Ginger, and move on with Olivia. Sweet, loving Olivia. Jace and Olivia have perfect matching auras. What’s a guy to do though when his ex says she’s pregnant? Get married of course. What’s a woman to do when the man you love is marrying the wrong woman? Kidnap him, what else. The town cop having out for you certainly doesn’t help matters. You’ll have to read to see if love conquers all, and a hedgehog can be tamed. As always, drinking while reading is not recommended.
Happy Cat here I come
It's very rare that a sequel anything (book, movie) is better than the first, but I personally thought Hammered was just a touch better than Hosed. Don't get me wrong I loved Hosed, but Hammered was full on laughter from beginning to end! Olivia and her vespa driving, hedgehog loving, hippie life was so much fun to read, you couldn't help but have a smile on your face! Jace is a little bit of your typical bad boy on the outside, but sweetheart on the inside. But that doesn't stop him from often causing your insides to go to mush. You will love all of George Cooney's appearances in case you are missing him from Hosed. Happy Cat is the kind of small town I would love to be a part of, just quirky enough to be odd, but everyone is so close and consider family that you can't help but fall in love with them. Another hysterical book by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente.
Enjoyed this book
Hammered by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente is book Two in the Happy Cat Series. This is the story of Jace O’Dell and Olivia Moonbeam. I have red the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Jace when he was younger made some dump choices but now he is the owner of The Wild Hog and works to make better decision in his life, no longer wanting to be the joke of the town. One thing is a on / off relationship with Ginger but its been off for about two months now. Jace know that she isn't what he wants any more because he starting to have feelings for Olivia. Olivia and Jace had a hot encounter but then who walks back into Jace life...Ginger. Olivia thought to step aside but that didn't last and now she is out to save Jace. Enjoyed their story...it was actually had some really funny parts that kept me turning the pages.
Olive & Jace will steal your heart! Lots of Swooning & Shenanigans!
The sweetest funniest RomCom!! Pippa & Lili are such a fabulous writing duo! They had me laughing from the wittiest of lines to the animal shenanigans and swooning over the most endearing couple, Olive & Jace! Olive is quirky, kind, and radiates the sunshiniest of auras. Jace is considered the bad boy in town, but isn’t a bad boy at all. You will absolutely fall head over heels for this adorable couple. I can’t wait for you to also meet Princess, George, & Chewpaca cuz they steal the show!
Loved it!
Another great story by the “Dream Team” of Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. In Hammered we get to visit in Happy Cat again and witness another one of the O’Dell brother find his HEA. Jace finds himself in less than an ideal love/life situation as he tries to do the right thing. Olivia is so endearing and sweet, but also regarded by some as a bit eccentric due to her believes and sunny disposition. As with many Pippa’s books, there are some adorable and unusual animals taking an integral part in the story as well as some of the citizens of Happy Cat we met in Hosed. This book is a fantastic read, if you like your romance to be funny, swooney, steamy and with a bit of a suspense, you are guaranteed to love this laugh out loud masterpiece!
Get Hammered
If I thought the first audiobook book in this series was awesome, then this audiobook is even more so. Olivia is quirky, sweet, friendly, hilarious, and incredibly adorable that I want to be her friend. Virginia Rose does such a great job putting a personality and voice to Olivia that is so perfect. I love how protective she is of the people she loves. She reminds me a lot like Phoebe on “Friends”, just so happy all the time. She’s even kind to the people who make fun of her and treat her badly. Jace gets a bad rap because of how he was as a teenager and a young adult. He’s trying to turn his life around and do the right thing, but he still messes up many times. One of my favorite parts of the story is when he is at his wedding and he is so drunk that he just keeps rambling his words. Jacob Morgan does such a perfect job bringing that scene to life that I could actually picture in my head. I loved it so much that I backed up the audiobook so I could listen to it again. He had me laughing at that whole scene. They are one of my favorite couples. I love the fact though that even when Jace is grumpy, he never treated Olivia badly. It is nice to read a fun story of a couple falling in love. Just like the last book, they had a cute little epilogue with the hedgehog telling her story. It was cute, but I still liked the raccoon better.
Great quirky read!
Humor, wonderful characters, a kidnapping or two oh and some unique animals make this a very entertaining read! Olivia is definitely a character who has a very different outlook on life, but she is also a person of pure heart and when she finds her soulmate, fireworks go off, too bad his on again off again girlfriend is pregnant. Have knows he's done with his girlfriend once Olivia happens to him, but that's not so easy. Great fun as they try to work it out. Volunteer KU based review
So much dumb
The cast of characters in this are incredibly unintelligent. Especially the male lead. **spoilers** How do you trust your ex showing up and claiming pregnancy? You don't get any medical tests showing approximate date of conception? And even in her story, it's within a day of when she disappeared from a date with you to go "play pool" with some guy she was hanging all over? But you have no concerns for paternity, either. Nor do you ask a lawyer, or hell, even a friend who has divorced, what your custody options would be should it be your child. Nor do you look at a prenup. Nor do any of your brothers, who all conveniently forget that they were pressuring you to marry this woman after it comes out to be fake. And you just accept that her threat to disappear and never let you see your child is valid, because as a kindergarten teacher she's got those kind of skills. "Hand me the glue stick, little Tommy, I have to get this passport photo in right." "Pass me that yelow crayon, Susie, I have some detail work to do on this new driver's license." Two stars only because when you *finally* get to the "kidnapping", the cuteness of the slapstick starts to come through and the story gets a bit more enjoyable. I really enjoy Pippa Grant's normal style, and that started to come through then. Just had to wade through a story that one expected to see in a Florida Man headline to get there.
Hilarious!
First of all, this book was so funny! I LOVE that Olivia is the free spirited, incredibly kind, super sweet, little odd person. When I say little odd I mean really odd, moon bathing and all, but I love her personality! I want to be friends with her! Then add bad boy, trouble maker extraordinaire Jace into the mix, and it’s a match made in heaven. She sees the good in him, and he sees beyond the odd behaviors of her. The ex girlfriend comes back with a vengeance and Jace being the honorable man he is, he wants to do what’s right even at the cost of his own happiness. Olivia sees through the BS and saves him from making a mistake! She’s the hero in this story! It’s such a good read I recommend it to all!
I wish I lived in Happy Cat!
This book will have you laughing out loud! I'm so glad we got a second book set in Happy Cat with it's one-of-a-kind cast of characters. This book focuses on Olivia Moonbeam, who works at the town's sex factory, and Jace O'Dell who's the resident "bad boy". And yes, we get to see more of the adorable and hysterical raccoon George Cooney. This book is filled with the humor and love that readers have come to expect from Lili Valente and Pippa Grant. The characters are so well written and the situations they find themselves in are priceless but it's the pets that at times steal the show. I will definitely be enjoying this book more than once. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Jace & Olivia
I loved this book. It had me laughing the entire way through and I could not put it down. Olivia is a quirky woman who I instantly loved. Her different beliefs and not caring what anyone thinks is someone to look up to. Jace is in a nonstop on again off again relationship with longtime girlfriend, Ginger, (who you will instantly hate) and is the reason why his feelings for Olivia cannot be reciprocated. After one unforgettable night with Olivia, he feels things are about to change. Or are they? What follows is a hilarious and suspenseful read where they both try and find the perfect solution for the situation they are in. I highly recommend this read.
Much more than just OTP romcom!
This was so much more than I expected. I enjoy a good romcom, but over the top isn't always my jam. Which is what I expected with this. Being entertained, but not much more. Well, let me tell you, it was more. Is Olivia quirky AF? yes. Is Jace a hothead who has gotten into lots of trouble in the past? yes. BUT! There is so much more. A will to change and improve. The unflinching honour to be there for what you created, whether you'd like to run away or not. And the lovely talent of always seeing the best in others and wanting them to be the best they can be. Beautiful love story in a crazy setting, that surprised with more real emotion than anticipated.
Bad boy!
Bad Boy Jace O’Dell and Free Spirit Olivia Moonbeam are hot, sexy and completely swoon-worthy. Jace is tired of the on again off again relationship he is currently in and he meets Olivia and knows she’s the one. Olivia thought Jace was the one until he calls it off, because his ex says she pregnant. Jace doesn’t think he deserves Olivia because he’s been a bad boy since his teenage years, but Olivia knows he’s the one. When she discovers that the ex is playing games can she stop Jace before everything goes to far? Will they get their happily ever after? I love these Pippa Grant / Lili Vallente books and I hope there’s another one!
Can Happy Cat be a real place...please??!!
I need to start by saying that if Happy Cat was real, I would be looking for a job there asap. Every time these authors bring me within the city limits, I start laughing immediately. I mean, where else do you hear about a raccoon named George Cooney that walks around town wearing a rainbow clown costume? Or a place where it is acceptable to ride a scooter with a porcupine riding shotgun? And then there are Jace and Olivia. *sigh* I just adore them. While it is frustrating as a reader that they aren't together, when they ultimately find their way together (after Olivia's kidnapping attempt!), any reader will certainly rejoice! If you are looking for a story that will make you laugh til you cry while also melting your heart, then this is certainly the story for you!
Loved it!
Love this book! It's part of a series, which makes it more fun to be read in order, but can also be read standalone, without feeling like you missed something. HEA. No cliffhanger. His and hers POV. Small town drama and shenanigans. Characters from books in this series make appearances, as well as critters. Author writes in such a way that you are laughing out loud one minute, then shielding your pages to make sure your kiddos don't see what you are reading about (adult material and language). But it's not gratuitous sex scenes, there's a storyline and buildup. Great writing. I received an ARC copy for my honest review.
Whimsical and wonderful!
A whimsical heroine combined with a reformed bad boy equals combustion! Olivia is a free spirit, she’s a whimsical girl who sees good in people and situations, she loves living (and non living) things, she’s sweet and quirky in all the best ways and she’s brave! Jace is the town bad boy, the local law enforcement has it out for him. Jase has flourished despite his reputation and is a business owner, Olivia is his lobster and he realizes this but, a big bomb is dropped to change everything and capers ensue. This story combine with some very adorable side kicks make for very fun escape from everyday life!
Back in Happy Cat
This is a return trip to the quaint town of Happy Cat and another O'Dell brother's HEA. Jace is the typical bad boy bar owner with a good heart. Olivia Moonbeam is a transplant from LA and works at the local sex toy shop when not moon bathing. You wouldn't think these two would mesh but the chemistry is undeniable. This is a fanciful story full of witty banter, perverted sidekicks, a bit of deceit and a she shed! I enjoyed the secondary animal characters, especially the precious Princess and the stoic Sir Pendleton. This series is fun and brings us back to the towns people I fell in love with in Hosed.
So much fun to read!
I discovered Lili Valente a couple years ago through a series of cute, sexy and hysterical funny cowboy stories. Then in the last year Pippa Grant came into my life through her romcoms. Now there is THIS! Them teaming up together to write delightfully romantic comedy! I couldn’t be happier!!! Hammered kept me giggling right from the start. You can never go wrong with a bizarre cast of characters and this book has them all… including George Cooney 🦝 Princess von Spooksalot 🦔and Chewpaca🦙. The animals, along with a crazy pair of villains made Hammered so much fun to read.
Hilarious, heartfelt, sexy and unforgettable.
Hammered is a romantic comedy that could easily qualify as an abdominal workout, because you’ll laugh so hard that your muscles will be sore the next day. It’s brimming with perfectly ridiculous humor, laugh-out-loud shenanigans, sexy times, endearing characters – both human and animal – and heartwarming romance. Jace and Olivia are absolutely adorable as they navigate a few storms on their way to happily ever after, namely Jace’s ex-girlfriend, and you’ll cheer for them every step of the way. ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
recommend all day long!
Oh, how I've missed Happy Cat and all of it's crazy residents! This author duo writes some incredibly enjoyable stories and I just love this particular world. This story is all about Jace and Olivia and the rollercoaster around them getting together. There's a mean girl ex, hilarious racoon and hedgehog buddies and a whole cast of lovable, hilarious small town folks. I just can't get enough of Pippa and Lili! I'd happily move to Happy Cat and work at Sunshine's toy factory just to be able to watch the drama up close. Recommend all day long!
Happy Cat just get's better!
I LOVED this return visit to Happy Cat with Jace and Olivia's story. It had everything that we expect from a Pippa Grant novel, guest appearances from George Clooney (the raccoon) and other crazy pets. This time there is as hedge hog who LOVES to get some action from the tail of stuffed squirrel. There was a lot of steam and intrigue as we follow this will they, won't they, wait there is a groom being kidnapped? Wait is it kidnapping if the groom is willing to go? You will find yourself swooning, sighing and laughing your butt off with Hammered.
Hilarious, Sweet and Steamy Romance!
I loved this hilarious, sweet and steamy romance! This second book in the Happy Cat series by two very talented authors is filled with outrageous humour, quirky characters and sizzling passion. Everyone in the quirky town have labeled Jace as a screw up and Olivia as ditzey. But they are both more than what people see and they see the best in each other. Olivia Moonbeam is a holistic, free spirit, who is an animal whisperer. Jace O’Dell made some mistakes as a youth but has grown into a responsible, and successful business owner. They finally give in to their heated attraction and have a night of fiery passion. They are ready to move forward together when Jace's evil ex gets in their way. Jace was so sweet to want to do what was right for everyone, but it was Olivia and her quirky ways that takes matters into her own hands. But is it too late? I loved Jace and Olivia and they were so perfect for each other. I was also completely charmed by all of Olivia's loveable, and valiant furry friends and their clever names. Virginia Rose, and Jacob Morgan did a great job bringing this story to life. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes. They really put themselves out there, being just as outrageous in their deliveries making this fast paced, quirky, and steamy story so much fun!
Beyond adorable
This is the story of the next O'Dell brother, Jace. He has a slew of problems: a girlfriend who claims she's pregnant. A deputy who loves to arrest him and don't forget he can't stop thinking about his one night of passion with Olivia. Olivia seems like a hippie chock but she thinks Jace and is girlfriend are wrong for eachother. Her aura belongs with his. In a sees of hijinx, crazy animals and outright laughter from the reader, you will be entertained and love this story and the characters.
Blech
Pippa Grant has written two books that caused me to have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard (a rarity since-before those two books-I only laughed that hard during a Karina Halle book 'Nothing Personal'). That said, I was SO disappointed in this book. I'm all for a manic pixie psychotic heroine, but this one didn't work. I felt no chemistry between the characters, and this book was a little too OTT for me. It got to a point where it felt like these two were trying WAY too hard for laughs, and I skimmed probably 70% of the book (way too much internal monologue). I have never read a book by Lili Valente so Idk if this book missed the mark because of her or what, but this book was a huge failure and waste of time. I loved the angst, and I might have been able to deal with (what felt like) the desperation to make this book hilarious, if the lead characters had at least some heat between them. Personally, I wish I would have skipped this book in my Pippa Grant binge I am in the middle of, and am a little leary of reading anything by Valente
Crazy in a good way
This book is definitely interesting, I’m sure I had a questioning look on my face through a lot of it lol. She is a woman who is in touch with Mother Earth, I thought of her like a hippie. He is mesmerized by her and his crazy ex is trying to keep them apart. There are crazy and different animals in this book. The narration was great. I recommend this book.
Happy Cat is a fun place to visit
That settles it! I'm retiring to Happy Cat! (Don't I wish?!?) Everything about this book was amazing! The humor had me laughing out loud (much to the startled fright of my Not-So-Happy cats) and the animals made it even more enjoyable. Plenty of drama, a lunatic baby-mamma-to be and finding something in themselves along the way, Olivia and Jace had me at hello... Kidding but found their love so refreshing and honest, it really moved me and I look forward to another visit to Happy Cat in the near future!
I love this town!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It definitely had some laugh out loud moments. I didn't read it when it first came out because it wasn't free on KU. I'm glad it is now! Crazy Olivia and laid back Jace make a great couple. George Cooney, the racoon pet of a character in a previous book, adds so much humor to the story. Of course, the Alpaca and hedgehog had their great parts in the book, too. I look forward to more funny tales from Happy Cat!
Sweet, quirky, funny, hot, fast moving book!
“I hold on to him with my hands and let go with my heart.” I loved this sweet, quirky, funny, hot, fast moving book! It was a non-stop mental treat full of so much laughter. It begins with explosive chemistry and has the perfect amount of romance, family/community, humor, suspense, and action. Olivia is fast becoming one of my favorite heroines with her big heart and awesome outlook on life. This blends favorite people and pets from the first book, Hosed, so you’ll want to read both!
Can you really Kidnap the willing? Hmmmm
This book was just as good as Hosed. Jace and Olivia have a connection one with heat and passion and incredible sex. They both feel they can make a go at it until Jace's ex decides otherwise. Now Jace is about to get married to someone he barely tolerates. However Olivia has other plans. Plans that she thinks is helping Jace out by kidnapping him. Only she doesn't know the whole story and Jace will have to open up to let her in. Can he do it?
Love it!
I've been anticipating Hammered since reading Hosed, and Pippa Grant and Lili Valenti did not disappoint! I laughed so much, but I also loved that they gave us a sweet romantic story as well. Add in some entertaining furbabies and a couple of crazy folks, and you've got one seriously amazing book! Jace and Olivia have such a crazy love story and it is so worth reading. I'll be counting down until the next story in this series comes out.
Absolutely Fabulous
Absolutely laugh out loud hilarity. Olivia is in love with Jace. Jace is finally taking a break from his toxic ex. When the two hook up sparks fly. Just a joy to read. The amorous hedgehog Princess Von Spooksalot was delightful. The reoccurring George Cooney from Hosed makes appearances. This is a stand alone but the first book is as delightful as this one. Highly recommend both books. Sweet and sexy madcap romance with a bit of action.
Happy Cat
I was such a big fan after the first book in this series and was happy to get the chance to return to Happy Cat in this book. I totally fell in love with Olivia and her free spirit and big, loving heart. Jace was definitely the misunderstood bad boy who is really not so bad. This book was a beautiful insta-love, fully equipped with a crazy ex and a bit of action and intrigue. You will not regret giving this book a read.
loved being back in happy cat
george cooney will always be my favourite character in any of these books, BUT princess the hedgehog is a very close second. that lil taxidermy squirrel humpin’ panty thief. i did enjoy getting to know more about olivia in this book! she is the most genuine person and so full of love. i don’t want to post any spoilers so i’m just going to tell you to read this one , but only if you’ve read hosed first.
Jace, Olivia, and Princess are perfect together!
I’ve been waiting for Jace & Olivia’s story since I read them in Hosed. They did not disappoint. Jace and Olivia are cute and sweet together. They had some problems along the way, but it made their coming together more meaningful. Add into that a cute hedgehog, a loving alpaca, and our favorite raccoon, and you have a great story that can only happen in Happy Cat. * I received an advanced review copy of Hammered.
Craziness!!
This book is totally insane!!! Between the hedgehog, stuffed squirrel, kidnapping, and George Cooney, I just could not stop reading. This story is hilarious but there were also some crazy parts that I wanted to rush through just to see what happens. This duo is pretty magical and I can't wait to see what they bring next to Happy Cat!!
Fun and funny
I practically read this in one sitting. Olivia is such a beautiful character to know, you cannot help but fall in love with her. Jace and Olivia's story is filled with fun animal hijinks and some other interesting characters. I read everything but the epilogue before I went to bed and picked it up as soon as I woke up to see what happened next. Enjoy the story!
yum
A story your mind gets lost in, where you feel what the characters feel isn’t enough to read just once. It’s something you want to experience over and over. The love, lust, betrayal, loss… everything. A good book can get your heart pumping, your belly dipping, and your body tingling. It’s something a person can experience, no matter how many times you read it
I want to visit Happy Cat!
I've been waiting for Jace's story, and it's finally here!! Jace is trying to work really hard, and be the man his brothers and family can be proud of. Yeah, he's had a few scrapes w/the law as a kid, but now he owns his own bar, and the inhabitants of Happy Cat love him...with a few exceptions. Jace just can't seem to catch a break. Olivia is a free spirit, and relies on nature more than Western medicine. She loves all people and creatures, but she's got a huge crush on Jace. He's got his eye on her, but there are forces that come between them. Even though their personalities seem quite opposite, Jace and Olivia make a great pair, and she's just what he needs. Lots of feels, laughs, and critters! Pippa and Lili keep me on my toes w/the increasing number of adorable critters in this series. George Cooney is still my favorite! Jacob Morgan is his usual, delicious self w/his great narration. Virgina Rose does a great job, as well.
5/5
We got glimpses of Jace and Olivia in Hosed and I was excited for their story. I loved that they were able to pull out the best in each other and always be themselves together!
Hammered
This book is going on my favorites list! It’s a truly wonderful romance, with two people who desperately need each other, a lying ex, corrupt characters, and several eccentric animals. And a happy, happy, happily ever after! A great read!
I might love this even more than the first book.
I didn't think it would be possible, but I might love this book more than the first one. Olivia and Jace are soo freakin' adorable - even when they're pining after one another. I think I had some version of a smile on my face for most of the book. This series is probably going to be one of my favourites.
This is going to be an awesome series!
What's not to love about this book I love Olivia she's so cute you just want her to be happy ,and Jace deserves something better than Ginger this is a hilariously funny! All the characters are so realistic for a small town. The O'Dells are going to be fantastic stories each book is standalone but good if read in sequence.
unique characters, fun animals, cute romance
I couldn’t help but smile almost the whole way through this whole book. I am falling more and more in love with this town. As if I couldn’t get enough of the racoon George Cooney in the first book, he brings some new friends along for book two. We get the most adorable corky hedgehog in this book, kittens, giant dogs, and an alpaca. I love Olivia Moonbeam, I know in book one she came off as a little ridiculous, but I didn’t care. She kind of reminded me a little of Phoebe from Friends but tamer. Animals seem to flock to her like Snow White or some fairy tale princess which just means she is pure of heart. She just wants the best for everyone even when they are being mean to her. Olivia just doesn’t want to see Jace get hurt by marrying the wrong person. Since the kidnapping isn’t a spoiler it’s in the blurb may I say it is quite hilarious when it happens. While Olivia’s character doesn’t have a lot of growth to do in this book it was super nice to get to know who she is more since we only got a glimpse of her in book one. Jace is a tortured soul that poor guy, he thinks that he only deserves the worst because he is the worst. Of course, everyone around him sees the best in him. When he thinks Ginger is pregnant, he is going to step up and be the dad that he needs to be. I really enjoyed seeing how he came out of his shell in this book and stood up for what he believed in. Jace also opened his eyes to his brother’s problems some which was interesting. The texting between the brothers was hilarious, I could see that happening between these guys. Jace had to evolve the most in this book since he was the one being manipulated the most, and always thought he was wrong for everyone. I swear I would just read stories all day long from the towns Insta chat they would be hilarious… these books just keep getting better and better.
Pippa Grant & Lili Valente
Amazing. Enjoyable series. I have been hooked from the first book that I read by Pippa Grant. This series with Lili Valente is so cleverly written.
Another great story!!
I absolutely loved Olivia and Jace's story!! With Sir Pendleton and Princess von Spooksalot, George Cooney and Chewpaka, you cannot go wrong with this book! It's hysterical and heartwarming. I can't wait to move on to the next O'Dell brother!! This series is great!!
Soooo Entertaining!
Another entertaining story from the town of Happy Cat. The main characters, Jace and Olivia, are lovable, quirky and slightly damaged. Throw in a hedgehog, stuffed squirrel and a Llama and that right there is a recipe for a crazy creative story! How do Pippa and Lili come up with this stuff??? I’m a fan!
Hammered on binge reading!
Loved the story line. Hammered is a hilarious funny book that I kept turning the page until I got to the end and wanted more! The characters were easy to love, everyone needs a Jace in their life! Bad guy that just had the wrong rep, who talks to his .... oh No spoilers. You will not regret reading this book!
Great Series
I love this series, especially with the humor of the animals. I love the suspense. My favorite was the kidnapping.
Quirky Fun Time Book
Olivia Moonbeam is an aura seeking, hippie-ish girl looking for her kindred soul, though that's not the word she uses. 😆 Jace O'Dell is Happy Cat, GA's resident screw up in an on again off again relationship with his current ex Ginger. Until Jace and Olivia get together one night. There are sparks and a chance meeting with a hedgehog and stuffed squirrel whom Olivia adopts. Just when they decide to be together, Ginger storms back in Jace's life and is pregnant. 🤨 Deciding he needs to do right by the baby Jace gets back with Ginger and even agrees to marry her asap. Some chaos ensues mid wedding leading to Jace in jail and Olivia locked in an abandoned building. 😯 In the end these two kindred spirits end up together but what happens along the way is a hilarious and adventurous ride.
Hilarious!
This was a really, really fun read. Like really fun. I listened to Hosed a while book and it just had me in stitches, so I figured I'd give the rest of the series a shot. So far we're 2 for 2; I loved this book! Olivia and Jace had such great chemistry. It was really surprising given how different they both are, but Jace embraced Olivia's eccentricities without a second thought. He was such a sweet guy to Olivia and it broke my heart when he felt like he couldn't/shouldn't be with her. Reading it you just knew that his life would be worse without her in it. Olivia was so. much. fun. She made this book and was easily the best thing about it. I loved how her mind work and how she was so kind even when she was getting her hair pulled. I was really excited that this book was about her because I just loved her to pieces in Hosed. The story flowed well. It moved a little fast, but honestly? it was just such a blast reading it that I didn't even care. I did know exactly what was going to happen with Ginger, but I was curious as to how it was all going to play out. We get to see more George Cooney and get introduced to such characters as Princess the hedgehog and Chewpaca the alpaca. I have no idea how these two authors made a bunch of pets so endearing and hilarious, but there you have it. Overall, yes, I recommend this book. If you're not looking for an emotional read, this is the book for you!
You know it’s right when your auras glow
Thought provoking, romantic, hilarious, mysterious, suck you in book. I loved returning to Happy Cat. I loved seeing the characters from the “Hosed”. I love having new characters introduced and can’t wait to see their books. Mostly, I love George and all the other animals included in this awesome book. I love how they “talk” and think. Yeah hey are one of the best things about these books. It makes them unique and just plain awesome. Must read these books!!!!!
Jace and Olivia
Things are always happening in Happy Cat GA. Like the baseball game without baseballs. Or a groom getting stolen from a wedding he didn't want. You know, things like that.... the right side comes out on top, and George Cooney has a good time, with lots of popcorn. 💓💓💓💓💓
Funny
Okay I liked this story with it's weird animals and kooky leading lady. But one its yet another blonde and if you've read any of my reviews you'll know how over the every female lead is blonde thing. I could soapbox about this for DAYS because it's gone past ridiculously overdone and is on to the point of me being shocked and delighted anytime I find a book that's not about a blonde. They're becoming about as rare as unicorns and its downright ridiculous. But yes Olivia Moonbeam is yet another blonde. This blonde is so out there its hilarious. But honestly Jace really isn't much better because who doesn't ask to see a pregnancy test when your ex shows up to tell you she's pregnant. Honestly, the plot is pushing it because there are a lot stronger legal repercussions what the villains did in this book than what is portrayed here and small town or not you can file charges for police harassment and they have to look into it. And the whole thing with Chester is clear cut harrassment. That said the story is hilarious and I definitely enjoyed it.
Wonderful book
Jace and Olivia stole my heart from the beginning. Jace thinks very poorly of himself due to his younger year shenanigans. Olivia only sees the good in him. This is book 2 of the series written by Pippa and Lili. I truly enjoyed going back to Happy Cat. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the characters and town. Jace owns a bar and Olivia is the "odd duck" of the town. While they don't seem picture perfect on paper, they absolutely are. They are both giving and want everyone around to be happy - even at the expense of their selves. This book is a HEA and I can't wait to find out what happens with the other characters. I LOVED catching up with previous characters and seeing George Cooney again! I highly recommend Pippa and Lili!!
Overcoming a bad rap!!
Loved this book!! Happy Cat is just like any small town USA with all their rumors and mentality, but Jace and Olivia fight through all to give themselves their own HEA. Chewpaca and Princess will also win you over and you can’t forget George Cooney since he is one of Happy Cat’s more famous residents.
Fun comedy
How could you not like a book that is set in a town called Happy Cat?! There are crazy characters in this town, Olivia Moonbeam being the main one. She is the hippie dippy type-reading auras and basking naked in the moonlight. She has one night with Jace, the town bad boy, and they fall in love. Enter the evil ex girlfriend and everyone’s life is turned upside down! I didn’t realize this was the second book in the series so these can be read as standalones. I think I will go back and read the first one, as it is about Ryan, Jace’s brother, who we meet in Hammered. I am also looking forward to whose story is next in the town of Happy Cat; there are so many quirky characters in this town. There is so much comedy and outrageousness in this one; it was really fun to read!
Crazy good!
4.5 This book was crazy good. I love the wonky world of Pippa Grant, but add in Lili Valente and it’s a fun new adventure! I fell for Jace and Olive. They’re so perfect for one another and the craziness is all the better for this HEA. I highly recommend this romance!
👍
This was such a fun read. Jace and Olivia's story was sweet and mystically romantic. Loved Olivia . Princess von Spooksalot was so adorable. I'm in love with Happycat and it's colorful characters. ❤📖❤
The stay up late page turner
The ladies did it again, another hit with the right amount of romance and laughter. It's never a disappointment when these two team up. Funny, sweet, and romantic rolled into one. The cleaver names makes me question my pet naming skills. You need this book in your life!
A raccoon. An alpaca AND a hedgehog?
I love reading rom coms. I love reading THESE rom coms. Many many laugh out loud moments and many hot steamy moments. With a little suspense at the end. I can't wait to move on to book 3.
Zany humor, unusual animals, quirky townsfolk, and a touch of suspense - a quick, fun read.
*** 3.5 Stars *** Hammered by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente is a quirky, contemporary, small town, romantic comedy told in first person, dual POV. It is book two in the Happy Cat series and can be read as a standalone. It's not necessary to read Hosed first, although doing so enhances the reading experience when previous characters appear. Jace is the town bad boy and screw up. Olivia is an eccentric hippie chick. After a spontaneous and pleasurable encounter, both are smitten and excited about the possibility of a future together. Then Jace's on-again-off-again girlfriend, Ginger, drops a bomb that forces him to make some tough choices, and he's determined to do the right thing. Olivia struggles to control her feelings for Jace, but pretty soon he'll be the groom in a shot-gun wedding. So what's a girl to do? Kidnap the groom, of course! Overall, I enjoyed this story and thought the characters were likeable. I really loved Jace, but Olivia was such an oddball that I had some difficulty relating to her although I liked her. Full of zany humor, unusual animals, quirky townsfolk, and a touch of suspense, this was a quick, fun read. *** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
A fun, flirty, sexy rom com!
A racoon, a hedgehog and a squirrel dressed as Sherlock Holmes walk into a bar . . . no, seriously . . . it’s the town of Happy Cat after all. In book 2 of this fun, flirty, hilarious Happy Cat series, Hammered celebrates the wild and crazy anything goes joie de vivre that the town of Happy Cat is known for. It’s also the story of the relationship that no one could have predicted—Jace and Olivia. Jace is known as the town screw-up. He’s made plenty of mistakes in his life but falling for Olivia Moonbeam isn’t one of them. Now if he could only move past a few small hurdles, such as getting married to his long term, on and off girlfriend. Free-spirited Olivia just wants to find a home—and someone who loves her to share it. And she has—but he’s a little bit taken at the moment. But Olivia is a true believer in karma—and while karma can be a b&*$%h, she does take care of her own. And karma does take care of many things that needed her err . . . special touch in Hammered. And you couldn’t help but root for Jace and Olivia to find their happily ever after. If you’re looking for a fun, flirty, sexy rom com, don’t hesitate to pick up Hammered. It’s laugh-out-loud craziness along with a sweet romance is a perfect afternoon escape.
Whimsical and loving
Hammered ... a light and airy read with lots of laughs and good times. I have been reading dark romances for so long, that it was such a breath of fresh air to read something so whimsical. A sweet, feel good story. Jace may be trouble, or ... trouble finds Jace. He has a reputation for being the bad boy and not abiding by the law. Like urinating in public...that is the predicaments that he finds himself in. However, what Jace does have, is his word. That’s why he plans to marry a woman he doesn’t love. He’s doing what he feels is right. Then Olivia walks into his life and makes matters that much worse. The heart wants what it wants. Does he continue to do what’s right and be with the one that makes his skin crawl; or go with his heart, which is all for Olivia? The free spirited, moonlight bathing, hippy beauty? This is my first book by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. I really enjoyed every word that I read. At times I felt like Olivia was really out there and not in touch with reality, although she is. So much so. She is just clairvoyant and makes light of every path that she comes into contact with. If you want a book that does not read too heavy or dark, Hanmered is the one for you!
Laughter and more laughter!
This story was pure gold and shooting stars! You’ll laugh, then laugh some more. Zaniness and laughter, for all the characters in this story ... whether they have two legs or four. I loved this story! Minus the mean girl and crazy wannabe cop.
Quirky characters!
Fun quirky characters are what I expect from Pippa Grant & Lili Valente.....Hammered didn’t let me down! Fun story with just the right mix of quirky, desperate and adorable! I loved this story that kept us guessing and laughing from the beginning to the end ;)
Princess the Hedgehog
Another funny entertaining read featuring another O'Dell brother, Princess, the hedgehog, Chewpaca, the alpaca , and George Cooney. Their is also an ex, a new girlfriend and a baby on the way. You will laugh your way throughout. Enjoy it you will.
Love, love this book
Another amazing book by Pippa Grant and Lilly Valentine ! Another cute pet a hedgehog named Princess and of course George Cooney is in the story.. hooray! Love the story between Liv and Jase, how they accept each other and are a perfect fit for each other.
Hammered
Hammered was an off the wall delight. Jace and Olivia's story could have been an incredibly angsty read, but it was handled with such humor. It was lighthearted and fresh. I can't say I've enjoyed a groom's inner dialog more than Jace's. I read an arc.
Great read
Great book!! This book is sweet and oh-so-sexy. A loveable raccoon named George Cooney, humping hedgehog named Princess, an alpaca named Chewpaca what more could we need!!! Jace’s and Olivia’s story is amusing yet sweet with amazing happy ending!!
Jace and Olivia
KU* 3.75 stars Possible Spoilers: This book focuses on Jace and Olivia. I really wanted to love this book ever since we met Jace and Olivia in Hosed, you could tell there was a story there and then when I read the synopsis I was even more hooked. However, while I did enjoy the story and the characters, the book fell a little short for me. There was so much over the top drama and assumptions, basically I felt like everything could have been solved with a big conversation and 1 piece of easily obtainable proof. Not to say I didn't like Jace and Olivia, but it felt like majority of the book was spent with them NOT being together and barely speaking, but there was tons of internal dialogue about their feelings for each other; again must be stated that they don't really talk to each at all, they interact in the beginning and very little in the middle and in the last 25% of the book. Jace, the tortured hero, who will sacrifice his happiness and well being to be in relationship with a woman he no longer likes because he wants to be a good father; I don't get the logic behind being together for the child when you hate your supposed partner. The ending with big incident was really interesting, but the conclusion of that incident was a little blah. How can someone do something that crazy and possibly dangerous and yet not get that big of a punishment? The line about Jace and the evil psycho having coffee kind of threw me for a loop: "they had a long heart-to-heart, and came to an understanding that put his mind at ease." What? After everything that person did, a simple conversation put him at ease? Still I did enjoy the story I was just not expecting for the groom stealing to take place at the last 40% of the book, but all in all a good read. I look forward to Blake and Hope's book and I would love to know more about being a Wiper (poor Hope lol).
Quirky fun
The book is definitely in the quirky and fun category. If that is your thing then this is the book for you. Unique characters and funny situations make for an interesting read. I received an ARC of the book and this is my honest review.
Goofy, fun, entertaining romp.
So when these two authors combine - you get a fun, laugh out loud tale. What makes this one even better is George Cooney and Princess v. S. We met George, Jace, and Olivia Moonbeam in "Hosed". And while you don't have to read that one first - it will make this one so much richer as you'll already love some of the characters. Jace has a very off again-on again-should really be off for good relationship with his ex. However, for one special night - he and Olivia really connect and it looks like there might be a new beginning for them both. However, fate and the ex intervene and it seems like they are destined to be star-crossed. Has Olivia lose her chance with her "KP"? I enjoyed George and Princess v. S. just as much as Jace and Olivia. Oh - the adventures in this story! If you are looking for a goofy fun read - look no further than "Hammered"! And this has the best motto - "We all just need to live and let live and fly our freak flags high!" I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
Love
This book was amazing! I didn't want to put it down. There were laugh out loud moments as well as sweet enough to swoon moments. I am so ready to go back and visit and it made me want to read Cassie and Ryan's story again.
Great series
Loved the story and the characters . Sweet and quirky. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.
Quirky and loving!
I love Olivia. She is in tune with nature and animals in such a fun loving spiritual way. When she talks to the hedgehog and George it feels so real. Her and Jace are so perfect for each other. I laughed and cried.
Really made me angry
I'm giving this two stars for Princess the Hedgehog... and that's it. The H is an utter and complete moron. Honestly, everyone in this book is just as moronic, though. NOBODY thinks to question that his consistently manipulative girlfriend is pregnant with his child? Seriously? And then we get to the end, and SPOILERS Jace has had coffee and come to an understanding with the freaking psycho ex? After she lied to him, had him falsely arrested, kidnapped Olivia and beat her up to the extent that she almost miscarried his child?!! Yeah. I liked the first book, and I liked Princess. This book though? NOPE.
Absolutely wonderful
Jace and Liv are so beautiful. I laughed and was surprised and couldn’t put it down. Never disappointed by Pippa. Two great characters and a story that made me feel like I knew them and could feel their love.
one hot, sweet, LOL read
Olivia wants Jace, the sweet bartender who is sooo wrong for his on-again off-again girlfriend, Ginger. And she thinks she's finally gotten her chance at being with him when they have a hot night after a heavy makeout session at his bar. But when he delivers news of his on-again off-again's pregnancy the next morning, she knows she has to get over him. Thank God for her newfound pet hedgehog. But when she finds that he's set on marrying Ginger, to do the right thing, can this Moonbeam let him do it? Can she really let her one go? Aww Hammered is sweet, zany fun. Olivia and Jace are so adorable together. Their chemistry is electric, and when you mix in the crazy raccoon George Cooney, Chewpaca the alpaca, and of course Princess the hedgehog, what the authors give the reader is one hot, sweet, LOL read. I haven't had so much fun reading in a long time! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy.
Sweet New RomCom
Hammered focuses on Jace and Olivia who seem to be a mismatched pair in a small town. I feel a little torn over this book for some reason (3.5 stars). I expected more laugh-out-loud moments coming from Pippa Grant and Lili Valenti; however, I felt like most of the book focused on the weird animal interactions and the oddness of Olivia's personality. Were there funny moments? Yes, absolutely. The texts between Jace and his brothers cracked me up. Was the chemistry there between the two? Yes, they have some steamy scenes throughout the book. I didn't realize this was the second book in the Happy Cat series, and while it didn't detract from the plot, I wasn't fully prepared for a city where raccoons wander around wearing clown wigs. I think the romance picked up more towards the 50-60% mark, and it really started getting more enjoyable there. I stole a groom. I shoplifted a husband. Overall, I found it an enjoyable read. If you're interested in a story where the oddballs find love, hedgehogs, and balance their chakras, I'd check out the Happy Cat series. I'll be going back to read Hosed to gain some more insight into the weird little town of Happy Cat.
DNF
I had to quit at 29% , my face hurt from all the cringing.. I wish I was kidding. I read America's Geekheart and was pretty amused and was interested in trying another book. This was the most contrived, ridiculous, OTT book I think I have ever read. To call the characters caricature's is an understatement. They are silly and unbelievable to say the least. The h is supposed to be quirky, but please, every odd animal , stuffed and non stuffed, with cutesy long names, moonbeam bathing, etc. just not funny or cute at all. When she lost her hedgehog, Princess something or other, and stops to ask a raccoon if he knows where she is, I just couldn't anymore. So forced.. every single part. I don't know if I can check out another book by either of these authors this was so sub par.
I LOVE Happy Cat!
I love this book. I laughed at the whole thing and really can't wait for more from this crazy town. You really never know what is going to happen next. It makes for a great read and extreme entertainment.
