I had this book on my wish list, but ended up getting it from a used book store. Same copy and everything, and brand spanking new. It is very old English and can be difficult to read/follow, and so some may not enjoy it. Lovecraft is an awesome horror author and he has influenced the genre in many ways, some being quite subtle and unknown to most. His stories are creepy, intriguing, and sometimes downright disturbing.

My boyfriend bought me this book for Christmas, and it is in perfect condition. I love how the cover glistens. HIGH quality item; I highly recommend!

I am a new reader of Lovecraft and I have to say, so far, my preferred stories are the ones that I assume are quintessentially Lovecraftian: a vague/disconnected, unreliable/insane narrator; a mysterious lost civilization; dark bodies of water; a sense of dread, uncertainty, and unresolvedness. The Temple, along with Dagon, are my favourite short stories so far in my quest to discover Cthulu. The book itself is absolutely gorgeous: I am a sucker for a hardcover, but the shiny octopian creature on the front and the gold gilded pages add an increased sense of luxuriousness to this decidedly gothic read. The book itself is 700 pages (approx.) and contains 27 stories plus an introduction on Lovecraft, which includes a snippet about his life, as well as a critical glance at some of the themes within his work, including his attitudes towards race and "terror of the Modern." Best enjoyed with a "Lovecraftian" playlist (see Spotify) and a neat whiskey.

I bought this book after talking with my boyfriend about a game that makes up a world like these stories, and I ended up digging up every related material I could find. Lovecraft has fantastic and detailed descriptions that keeps the stories interesting, but doesn't tell all so there's still a deep sense of mystery. Keeping things intense. Often lining up the dominos to trigger an intense end. The book itself is very nice too. Beautiful quality, nice hard cover, edged pages, a spine that doesn't bend under the weight. I'd like to buy more Canterbury Classics after this.

The aesthetics of the cover are great, you can feel the 3D textures, looks great on the shelf. Really feel like I'm getting my money's worth here, printing is a nice size and easy to read, the paper feels good to the touch and there's a built-in fabric bookmark.

If you don`t have a computer, dictionary or the knowledge of rather antiquated language, leave this alone and go look for the illustrated version, But for the rest of us, there is the gloriously loquacious Mr H.P. Lovecraft. I adore his stories and you will if you love 1920s horror. Highly recommended, this is where it all began. Don`t miss "The Color Out of Space". Beautiful cover and endpapers, will look fantastic on your book shelf.

Its beutiful in geenral...except the cover is an octopus rather than an old one or something really related to the mythos. I feel the cover would work best for a Julio Verne book. The pictures provided by Amazon don't do these justice! They look unbelievable! I haven't had time to flip every page to make sure everything is printed correctly, but from what've seen, they appear to be perfect. Incredible product, I highly recommend them.

The cover is beautiful. The image has a metallic sheen. It's such a beautiful book. I'm proud to have it on my shelf. And the price was amazing too. I got it for like $12. And it has The Rats in the Walls, which was necessary.

Beware, the H.P. Lovecraft Tales of Horror (Leather-bound Classics) edition that is listed under the hardcover options for The Complete Fiction is NOT the same book. I learned that the hard way. Not many of these different "editions" of the book are actually the same book. If it has a different title then steer clear. Amazon is messing up.

I will pass on giving the book specs since they have been listed by others, as well as on the Amazon book page. This edition: "Tales of Horror," is a beautiful and well-bound hardcover/leather book. I took the accompanying photos using a desk lamp for light and don't do justice to seeing the book in person. This is not a complete set of HPL works. If you are a reader of Lovecraft, you probably have other books containing his many writings. If so, you will find this to be an eye-catching and treasured addition to your shelf. If you are new to Lovecraft, you will find this to not only be an excellent introduction but a worthy collection of his stories. Twenty-seven stories, including several of his most famous titles, can be seen in the TOC photo. The book has an informative introduction as well. The text on the page's tone/color shade is easy on the eyes. That is a good thing considering the book carries 752 pages of solid reading. Canterbury Classics has produced a quality book, both in terms of print production and in terms of content. A good buy at retail price and an even better deal at a discount.

Doesn't have every single story by Lovecraft but the cover is really well done and beautiful. There's a sticker at the back of it for the pricetag. Mine came off very easily but I imagine it can ruin some books if you get unlucky and get one that's really stuck on there. Other than that, it's a great purchase. The gold gilded page edges are lovely to look at, and a joy to turn. They all have a built in ribbon bookmark. 2018. My resolution was to start my home library; compiling the classics first. And, these are must have classics for anyone who genuinely loves books.

There are stories Missing like the Unnamable, Otherwise great Price, and I am glad to have this with my collection of Books. Right up there with Edgar Allen Poe (pictured) also a Book I would suggest, and Stephen King. I will be getting the other HP Lovecraft Hardcover book I saw here when I can.

Lovecraft's book of "Tales of Horror" does bordering of pure genius and a mind that looses itself in the strange and supernatural. Though his sentence structure lacks coherence, his stores are not effected by this lack of education, but on the whole, rewarding to peruse and experience.

I saw this at Barnes and Noble for $25, got it for $10 from Amazon. Great price and great quality. Added to my collection. Gold lined pages, red braided (different from the books from same press) ribbon bookmark, accents on the front and back of the book makes it have a nice shine when caught in light. The paper does feel a bit thin and the font isn't boldfaced so it might be a bit hard to read for some but it was fine for me. The book feels nice and heavy in your hands. There is metallic accents on the front/back of the book and the overall look is of great quality for the price paid. Read a few stories already and they're great!

The book looks like it got wet and thrown into a wall. Honestly, what happened there? I know it’s a scary book but you didn’t have to destroy it in advance. I can’t return it because I can’t leave my house. I don’t recommend ordering it on Amazon.

I'm a big fan of the world HP created and the way he wrote it. There's a poetry in it that is very different from the usual writers. This book is really beautiful and I believe it envelops and compliments Lovecraft's stories accordingly.
