Easy to read

This book has some good information one which mushrooms might help with what. It's more of a reference than something to read end to end. I'd give it 5 stars, but it's repetitive in spots. Some of the most useful information is the charts that list diseases and then the mushrooms that have been used or could be used. The pictures of the mushrooms are really, really great. I read this as an ebook and had some trouble figuring out whether the pictures went with the text BEFORE the picture or AFTER. They didn't have labels right next to them so this made it more of a challenge. But all in all, as a beginner guide this book is a decent place to start research. Some of the mushrooms, though full of promise, may be difficult or impossible to buy though.

Thanks I want more

This book has been informative for me. I'm a nutritionist and I've often disregarded mushrooms because they are comparatively low in vitamins and minerals compared to vegetables, particularly leafy greens. However, this book shows that the unique compounds of mushrooms are highly worthwhile, even if you're not going to find your day's supply of vitamin C or calcium in a big bowl of mushrooms.

Amazing book

As a beginner book, this seems to push the easier mushrooms to identify, which is great. However, with a rule called "never, ever take a mushroom with gills" it's limited in its scope. I understand that this is to ensure that you aren't going to pick a deadly mushroom, but it can make it sound like there are no mushrooms with gills that are safe.. Which is untrue

No Pictures

I got this book for my kindle fire. I cannot find a single picture in the whole book. One of the reviewers said there were great pics in the book. Maybe it is a setting on my kindle? I've never had this problem getting pictures that are in other books. I hesitate to rate this as it might be my fault.

Easy to apply techniques

The book is a quick read. Very informative about the various types of mushrooms. Gives easy to follow instructions about growing process and best time to harvest. Although my insterest was for self use, not for farming, it does provides useful information about how to get the business started. My only dislike is the lack of picture as I ended up googling quite a few. Mushroom's descriptions are accurate, but I find it easier with visual support.
