Your only job as a leader is to make sure Monday morning doesn't suck. At least that's what Eric Harkins thinks. In his first book, Eric talks about his twenty-five-year journey working in corporate America and the many lessons he learned about leadership. He was lucky enough to work for a company that made sure Monday morning didn't suck, but even luckier to work for several that didn't. GREAT LEADERS MAKE SURE MONDAY MORNING DOESN'T SUCK is a fun, engaging, and light-hearted collection of stories told by Eric. He's worked for some good leaders. He's worked for some bad leaders. And he learned a lot about what it takes to create a culture high performers want to be a part of.

The Right Leadership Guide; Love Page 38!!!

Raw and real look at true leadership from cover to cover. I read this during one afternoon and couldn't put it down. The tidbits, stories and anecdotes aren't fluffed up, polished or formal - but they're real and you can tell the author didn't hold back. Reading this book was like having a mentor who's been through decades long careers tell you the story of their life; giving you insights into all the things you might not realize are most important but actually are. This book is an invitation into the thought process of a genuine, honest and awesome leader.

Great storeis, quick read and practical advice.

I have had the good fortune to work for companies where Monday morning's don't suck. However, most of us have worked for the company where the "not so great" Sunday feeling kicks in when we think about the Monday work day ahead. Eric Harkins draws on his vast experience as an HR leader at many companies. His ability to articulate the simple truths that many effective leaders inherently understand and thoughtful humble leaders can learn is truly amazing. Attracting, maintaining and developing engaged employees is possible when leaders commit to the culture and disciplines Eric highlights. This is an optimistic and refreshing read that comes from a place of humility and brutal honesty. If you are interested in creating or working in a energizing and rewarding work environment treat yourself to this book!

Great Book

I had the good fortune to read a recently published book this weekend. It was as insightful as it was witty. I highly recommend it. Just don't forget Rule #3 or Chapter 6. The book is Eric Harkins' "Great Leaders make sure Monday morning doesn't suck" Be well everyone and stay safe

Fun read with some very impactful messaging

I was a peer of Eric's many years ago and he was well respected leader at our Fortune 100 company. As an HR professional, I could definitely relate to several topics in this book especially around performance management, The employee and applicant experience, as well as rule #3. I have already given this book to a few of my peers to read, and they found it to be transparent, definitely fun and easy to read, and personal stories that could relate to Ericks messaging in the book. This book is definitely a great conversation starter book!

A Must Read

Great book all companies could use to make sure Monday's Don't Suck!

Fun and Insightful

FUN, insightful and thought provoking. This is an excellent book to have at the ready to learn things you may not have thought of and to remind you of things you may have forgotten. Powerful in its straight forward, plain spoken and real world approach! Highly recommend!

Excellent Read for ALL Leaders of ALL Levels

This book is a must read for all leaders regardless of what stage of their career they are in! Eric weaves humor and simple logic into the 3 essential rules every leader needs to live by, and challenges leaders to ask themselves the simple but tough questions. I’ve read it twice already and just placed an order for several copies to give as gifts.

Right to the point

No fluff only valuable, real, world stuff. Easy to digest. Probably hard to apply but the finish line and pay off are clear and worth the effort.

Favorite book of the year!

What a fantastic book, witty, insightful, transparent and brutally honest. I could not put it down. It helped validate my own management style and also made me realize I need to work harder in some areas. Eric tells it like it is with no fluff or embellishment. I highly recommend this book for all leaders and I can’t wait to give it to my Managers for Christmas so they can become great leaders. Thanks Eric for sharing your experiences and insights.

High impact book on leadership

Great conversation starters for your whole leadership team. Should be mandatory reading for all managers.

High impact book on leadership

Great conversation starters for your whole leadership team. Should be mandatory reading for all managers.

Accurate reminders of great leadership

This pithy, humorous, quick read book by Eric Harkins sums up the powerful leadership reminders for anyone who wants to be a better and stronger leader right NOW! Memorable lessons and the bite-sized delivery make this a great read for the plane or your lunch hour.

Spot on and to the point

I’ve known a lot of organizations that could use this down to earth, common sense take on what leadership means. A very enjoyable and heartfelt read.

Great tips to implement day one

Very thoughtful and well laid out book on leadership. Eric has the right amount of humor, insight and steps to help any people manager improve his/her organization. A lot of the content is ready to apply without much additional effort.

GREAT Read

GREAT read. It is very thought provoking and hits you between the eyes on many of the topics. Every leader needs to read this book.

Follow Rule #3

The entire working world would be better off if we all read Eric Harkins' book and put his lessons into action. No matter your industry, level, or title, this book teaches us what we need to do differently to not dread going to work. Rule #3 is a life lesson, not just a work lesson. The book is written in a conversational style and is a light, quick read. You will have take-aways.

Read. This. Book.

I have read MANY leadership books, listened to several leadership podcasts, and explored a multitude of avenues for professional career growth but few media items have caught and KEPT my attention as this book did. As a millennial female climbing the corporate ladder, I found this book and it's author at a game changing time in my life. I wish I distribute copies of this book to all leaders as well as their direct reports at all companies. The culture of a company defines the company and Eric Harkins does an exemplary job of connecting the dots in all aspects of the corporate world from top to bottom. Buy yourself a copy, advise your peers to grab their own copies, and take everything this book has to offer with both hands and apply it to your professional outlook. I promise you will not, regret it!

Slip a copy of this on your leader's desk (or inbox) & every Monday will be better!

I usually shy away from leadership books because they tend to bore me. Not this book! It's cheeky and amusing, while at the same time, dead serious. If you've ever worked in an organization and suffered on a team with poor leadership, you'll recognize immediately the characters described who breach Rule #3 (read the book to discover the rule!) I wish I had this primer myself when I ventured into a leadership role after business school (had no training to be effective, whatsoever). This short book should appeal to readers of all ages, regardless of function or industry, but will probably not amuse a poor leader, as it would be like looking in the mirror with a bad case of acne.

Practical, meaningful and intuitive guide

This was the ONLY book I finished reading on the same day I received in the mail, not to mention I am usually an audio book lover. I just kept reading and reading, really couldn't stop reading it. The book was comprised of real examples from the author's past experience, examples that I can reflect on my past experience and figures I can mirror giggle about them. I usually go back to read more than once if I like the book, which I will in this case.

Chapter 6!

Some things make you laugh because they're SO TRUE. That is Chapter 6 and to me, sums up the book! For anyone who is currently managing people, aspires to manage people for any of the wrong reasons (make more money, advance one's career) or is thinking about promoting someone into a position of managing people, read this.

Couldn't.Put.It.Down

My plan was to read a few chapters and then have some lunch. Well, the time flew by, and I seriously couldn’t put it down. I literally belly-laughed when I read Chapter 6 (which is one word by the way). Then after reading 2 paragraphs of Chapter 7, I went back and re-read Chapter 6 until my laughs turned into tears.

Quick read with awesome guidance

The 3 Lessons that turned into 3 rules are great. This is a must read to remember to hug your high performers because they are the ones that count and get rid of your leaders who are a$$holes. Thanks Eric for real life examples you lived through and not academic BS.

Perfect book for every leader!!

Easy read but with very meaningful advice on how to be an effective leader in any organization! Eric breaks down how to be a great leader with real life examples.

Tremendous read!

Waiting for more copies to be available to gift to my leadership team!
