In this companion to Cold-Case Christianity for Kids, Jason uncovers a mystery in his grandmother’s attic. He and his friends, Hannah, Daniel and Jasmine, enlist the help of Detective Jeffries at the Jr. Detective’s Academy. Along the way, they develop the skills needed to investigate the mystery and the evidence of God’s existence. The cadets learn logical-thinking skills as they examine the contents of a mysterious box and the vast universe.

In God’s Crime Scene for Kids, real-life detective J. Warner Wallace shows kids ages 8 to 12 what skills are needed to solve Jason’s mystery, and at the same time looks at evidence in the universe that demonstrates God is the creator. Ultimately, kids will learn how to make their own case for God’s existence.

Apologetics for kids! Excellent!

This entire book series for kids is amazing. I bought the first book to use as a Study with my two kids ages eight and 10. But is soon as I started looking through the book I realized this would also make an awesome homeschool co-op class. So I saved it and waited and taught it to 12 kids ranging in age from 8 to 13. The information taught is done in such a great way and at an age appropriate level for them to totally understand. It goes along with the same information that is taught in the adult book. And the helpful information on the website is awesome so that parents can study the correlating chapters to go along with what their kids are reading about. Perfect for individuals at home or a group to do together.

Creation Investigated...God on Trial

J. Warner & Susie Wallace have put a lot of work into educating adults in the reliability of Scripture. However, may God bless them for not leaving the children out! Realizing the importance of intellectually stimulating a kids view of Scripture, and providing them with legitimate and solid answers will go a long way in giving kids a solid foundation for their faith to rest. J. Warner Wallace has written quite often about the tragic numbers of "Christian students" who "leave the faith" by the time they hit their third year in college. Not satisfied with those numbers, J. Warner & Susie have set out to make a difference with God's Crime Scene. Going to great lengths to provide an interesting storyline, attractive graphics and free supplemental "Kids Academy" resources on their website (coldcasechristianity.com), the Wallace's are being used greatly by the Lord in the lives of future generations. This book does not disappoint.

Written the way a kid's book should be written

I found myself more than happy with this purchase. Not only is the book great at explaining what evidence is; but it has FREE online videos, handouts, and even a Leader's (parent!) guide. What child wouldn't want to become a detective? This shows them how to in a cadet academy that is fun and instructional. A lot of time and effort went into this one. I wish every kid's book was written this way. I recommend it.

Strongly Recommend Getting The Book

I use this book for an apologetics class at our co-op, the book was excellent. Characters in the book help teach students how to explore evidence and to use detective thinking skills to solve a mystery while giving them the ability to understand their faith and defend it. The printouts and additional materials offered on the web site make it easy and fun. I plan to implement all three of his books for future classes.

Great resource for teaching kids about the Creator!

This is a great resource for teaching kids about the universe and the Creator in a fun and creative way. The story line is believable and engaging. The illustrations are clear and helpful. The content is just what I was looking for to lead a retreat for my Middle School age youth. Highly recommended!

The skill to be learned here is actually useful as kids learn to think for themselves

Shows how kids can do investigative problem solving. The skill to be learned here is actually useful as kids learn to think for themselves. The book has simple illustrations that point out the concept clearly. I wish I have this book when I was a kid.

Engaging the whole child

This was a great read but more importantly, this book is designed to engage the whole child in learning the bible. Teachers and pastors, youth group leaders if you want to see your kids fully engaged and excited about learning and actually integrating what they have learned into their lives then this book is exactly what you are looking for. I encourage you to purchase a copy, you will not be disappointed and you yourself will learn from it as well. Its worth far exceeds its price.

Grateful to have resources like these at my fingertips to help guide my children ...

Thank you for this book! Grateful to have resources like these at my fingertips to help guide my children in Apologetics. Love your past history in crime scene analysis, and the fact that you were an atheist before discovering the truth. Book is easy to read for kids, understandable, and hard to wait until the next chapter - my boys wanted to read it all in one day!

Great Information for Youth to Have

There are undeniable facts and evidence in the universe that we live in that indicate the presence of a Creator, that is Intelligent, Personal and Creative. Our children need to know these evidences, so to ensure their faith in God is not vain. This book is a great way to get our youth thinking critically about these evidences and the sure to come attacks against these truths. Highly recommended book.

Excellent children’s book

I enjoyed the adult version so much that I bought the children’s version for my oldest. She is 9 and was able to read and comprehend the material. I am so glad that books like this one exist for the education of children.

Perfect for Middle School Apologetics!

Loved this book so much! After having read the original "Cold Case Christianity" I was so impressed and over the moon to see there was a kids version! Now, my friend and I are teaching a class at our co-op! We will be using both "Cold Case Christianity for Kids" and "God's Crime Scene for Kids" along with the Case Makers Academy website videos and Teacher resources. What a great way to build on our family's faith!

Excellent series of books that gives children a firm foundation for their Christian beliefs.

This entire Cold Case Christianity for Kids series is fantastic! J. Warner Wallace and his wife have done a phenomenal job of presenting the material in a way that kids understand and enjoy. I taught a class with the teaching materials they provide this past spring and the children were very engaged and came out of the class with a much stronger faith. I plan to offer a class at our church this fall on Forensic Faith for Kids and God’s Crime Scene for Kids. If you want to provide a firm foundation for your children’s Christian beliefs, get these books!

Fun Mystery that makes you think

I liked the way the author challenges students to use critical thinking skills, the same skills used by real detectives to solve mysteries and come to conclusions! This is a great read for students.

Solid evidence for God's existence made accessible for kids

I have read Cold Case Christianity and God's Crime Scene for Adults and am thrilled that these are made available in a kid version. I have used both with the 5th Graders in my church and they LOVE THEM! The story is engaging and the material is challenging yet accessible for older elementary kids. Looking forward to Forensic Faith for Kids.

Apologetics for Kids

Great resource for kids that can be done individually read together as a family. The website also has great resources to use in conjunction with the book.

Gives kids reasons to believe in God

I great way to teach kids that God exist and how it makes logical sense too. It's a fun and entertaining way for kid to learn the "why" we know God exist. I used it in 6th grade Sunday School with a Kindle version projected and had the kids read the different people roles. Then answered the fill-in sheet from the website. Almost forgot, website has a short intro video segment for each chapter. Awesome material!!

A kid friendly and adult friendly way to deal with life deepest questions

Amazing Read!

Just read this before teaching a co-op class on it, I love the way the author includes the reader in the investigations. I love how God is weaved in each chapter. Excellent choice for 3rd-5th graders.

Amazing tool for kids

A great tool for kids to understand that science and faith are not opposed. Science actually supports our faith in Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.

Five Stars

Bought for our Middle School Library.

highly recommend

my 9 yo LOVED this whole series of books--I really wish there was more than just 3 books.

Apologetics for EVERYONE

I love this book. It uses tangible examples to explain truths that can be hard for children (and adults) to understand. It also teaches kids how to think critically about claims that are made. I can't wait to lead preteens in a study of this book.

How this is presented so younger people can grasp the concepts is great!

I have been wanting to teach this to my kids and students in a way that is easy for them to understand while keeping them entertained. This is a great book to do so.

Must read

Incredible!

A Great Introduction to Apologetics

Apologetics is something I have recently become interested in, and honestly didn't even really know what it was until the last year or two. Since I have discovered this topic, I have wondered why more people don't talk about it on a regular basis and teach it to people more often. I have read a few books on the matter in that time, including God's Crime Scene for Kids. I think it is fantastic that people are writing books to deepen children's faith and their ability to defend it. When children are little, they take your word as truth, but as they get older, they can sometimes start to question things. With books like God's Crime Scene for Kids, you can preemptively give them the answers they are seeking, or point them in the right direction when the question arise. This book doesn't talk down to children at all, and it uses a "real life" mystery to mirror the "mystery of creation". It is a fun, child-friendly mystery, not a gritty one. There are also a lot of online add-ons available to make the book more interactive. The author of the book is a real detective, and he uses the same techniques that he would use in a crime scene or criminal case to prove the existence of God. It is a pretty interesting perspective, and makes for a great read. I received a free copy of this product from Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. Helping Kids Believe

Two of the most important hats that I wear are those of a pastor interested in apologetics and of a father of young children. As each year passes, I’m becoming more and more convinced of the overlap between the two. That’s why I’m thankful for J. Warner and Susie Wallace’s God’s Crime Scene for Kids. I have read the adult version of this and Wallace’s other books and have appreciated how he is able to translate complex topics into language that normal people can understand. Having not read any of his children’s books before, I was curious how he would do it with this book. I was very pleased with the result. Two of my children love to be read to and so I have a sense of what style they connect with. God’s Crime Scene for Kids very much fits with that style. The book is not a compilation of apologetic assertions but rather is an engaging story of a mystery that pulls in the reader. As they seek to solve this real mystery, Warner makes the connections between it and the evidence for God. He does it in a very natural way that does not seem forced. I have read some pretty cheesy Christian children’s books but this is not one of them. Even as an adult, I was pulled into the story and wanted to know how it would end. I intend to take my children through God’s Crime Scene for Kids. I think they will both find it interesting and be strengthened in their faith.

More than JUST a bible study for kids

This is more than JUST a bible study book for kids! this easy reader chapter book, reads like a comic book, BUT what it is teaching kids is to not only realize how much they already know about Hod, but how they can justify his existence to others! At the older elementary age, when they start questioning, this is the perfect time for this book! By using a 'crime scene' concept, J Warner lets kids discuss and formulate their own theories, in a way that they can easily understand! PLUS, there is an online component that goes along with the book, that helps both kids and their teachers/parents! Before you start reading, I would suggest that you download all the adult guides, which can be found on the Crime Scene website, by each chapter, then download the activity sheets and notebook sheets, so that kids have them ready, as they are reading, for jotting down any applicable notes (as you can see below). Then when they finish reading the chapter, have your child go back online and view the video from J Warner, as his videos point out key information from the chapter, and offers valuable explanations and further examples, to make sure they are understanding each chapter's points. This is actually the 2nd book in the J Warner's series for kids, the first being Cold Case Christianity for Kids (which we've previously reviewed), and a 3rd book, Forensic Faith will be coming out probably next year. My 10 yr old really liked the 1st book in the series, so i know she'll love working on this one too! I will probably use it in the Spring, after we finish the one we're on now. I love that it not only gets kids reading, but has them reading their bibles, and seeing how they CAN substantiate the case for God! if you home school, you not only are covering Bible, but also Reading, Writing AND Critical thinking! you have to love a book that does all that! If you have kids who hate bible study, this just might be the book to get them back to loving it! We highly recommend it!

~~ Investigate the incredible fine-tuning of the universe and so much more. ~~

What do the universe and a shoebox have in common? The kids at the Academy with Dr. Jeffries are about to find out. Jason, one of the cadets, lives with his Grandma Miri. His parents died when he was young and Grandpa Ren also died in his early 50's so life has not always been easy for either of them. Grandma Miri gave up on God after her husband died despite the fact that Grandpa Ren never strayed from his beliefs despite the pain and facing an early death. When Jason finds a shoebox up in the attic containing a note from his grandpa along with other clues, he wants to solve the mystery. Why did Grandpa Ren say that Jason might change his mind? How does Detective Jeffries tie in the creation of the universe, how it came to be etc.? This well-written book is GREAT as a family devotional. This is the second book in the series and well worth reading. Challenge your kids to be able to answer those difficult questions as well as become stronger in their faith. Highly recommended. I purchased this book for my Kindle. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz

A Great Teaching Tool

In this sequel to Cold-Case Christianity for Kids, the authors take us through a second year in the junior police academy. The reader follows the same kids, including themselves, as they solve a mystery for one of their friends as they apply the new techniques they are learning. At the same time Detective Jeffries teaches them about God’s creation using the same techniques. I loved the first book in this Cold-Case Christianity for Kids series, so I have been looking forward to reading God’s Crime Scene for Kids: Investigate Creation with a Real Detective. And I wasn’t disappointed. I love the approach to creation facts as given in the Bible, proving once again that God doesn’t lie. As with the first book, I’ll pass this book (which I received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review) on to my son, the director of a church camp. He also loves this approach to teaching biblical truths to young people.

A Tool for Kids to Both Equip and Evangelize!

The thought of excitement came to my mind, followed by feelings of anxiousness. Our church had begun holding Wednesday evening Bible study for the youth and three of the neighbor children came to attend. The background of these neighborhood children lacked attendance in the church and knowledge in the truth of Christianity. Therefore, my response of excitement and anxiousness centered around how I could teach these three neighborhood youth while also training the youth who regularly attend our church. My concerns were answered with J. Warner Wallace’s new book God’s Crime Scene for Kids: Investigate Creation with a Real Detective. Following up on Cold-Case Christianity for Kids, J. Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace with Rob Suggs invite young readers to rejoin the young cadets in solving a new mystery. Through the case of the shoebox, Detective Alan Jeffries and the cadets assist Jason in discovering the letter in the shoebox and what it reveals about the items in the shoebox. Undertaking the patient work of detectives, the young cadets put their skills into action and look for clues, ask questions, and ultimately find the answer they are looking for. During each step of the process, Detective Jeffries uses the same observations and skills to apply in investigating the universe and creation. The eight clues Detective Jeffries and the young cadets discuss throughout their investigation lead them to the conclusion the universe was created by a single all-powerful Creator, God. J. Warner Wallace does an excellent job intriguing young readers to join the team in solving both the mystery of the shoebox and, ultimately, the mystery of the creation of the universe. This book is a call to interactive investigation. Detective Wallace equips young people to see the evidence for the Creator and make a case for God as our Creator. He gives the reader CSI Assignments to go and look at what Scripture says, lists detective definitions to explain investigatory skills, and trains the young person with a “tool” for their detective bags. For those who are interested in going beyond the book, a website is available for the child to go through the academy with a parent or leader. Because of God’s Crime Scene for Kids by J. Warner Wallace, I am no longer anxious on how to approach teaching Bible study to the youth on Wednesday evenings. This book is an instrument to evangelize to youth who do not know the truth of creation or Christianity and is a tool to equip youth who want to share and show the truth of creation and Christianity. If you are a parent or a Bible teacher of youth of ages 8-12, this book is for you and your youth! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity Group for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own and are my honest review of the book.

Your kids will love it!

"God's Crime Scene For Kids" is more than just a book for your kids to devour - it's something that you can experience and learn from together as a whole family! As a father who is always on the look for materials that will teach my children foundational truths, I was very excited to come across this well-crafted resource. And, it's not just a matter of being a good book, because the accompanying materials that can be found online at godscrimesceneforkids.com are absolutely fantastic! The authors of the book have put a lot of effort into making this material accessible for kids, clearly laying out the evidence that God has intelligently designed our universe in a story-like manner that is both engaging and informative. One of the chapters that spoke to me and my children the most is the one dealing with the question of how an all-loving God allows evil to exist in the universe. The answers contained there are simple but profound, and something that children will be able to grasp and apply to the experiences in their own lives. My children aged 10 and 12 found the book easy to read and understand, and were able to describe what they learned from the story, while exclaiming that they "totally love" the book. Really, what better feedback could you be looking for? My kids have given this their stamp of approval and insisted that I award this book 5 out of 5 stars. Parents (and anyone else involved in a child's life) looking for a book that their children will not only enjoy but learn important truths from should plan on adding this one to their collection. Book has been provided courtesy of the publisher and the Litfuse Publicity Group, for the purposes of this unbiased review.

the book reads like a fiction story

J. Warner Wallace has hit it out of the park with his newest book God's Crime Scene for Kids. The second in his apologetic series for kids, the book reads like a fiction story, but each chapter teaches the reader new investigative skills that help them to examine Christianity from a new perspective. I love that this book is such a short, easy read. The detective vocabulary is in bold print with definition bubbles off to the side. The many pictures give it a friendly feel, and the accompanying printables and videos make the book even easier to understand - and to teach, too. God's Crime Scene for Kids may be short, but that doesn't make it watered down or a preschooler's book, either. With real life detective strategies, real vocabulary words, and a deep premise (how did the universe come to be?), this book is real and deep. The best part is that it teaches kids how to think in those real and deep ways so that they can examine the Bible and their own faith to see if it holds up to the test. Wallace has created neat resources to accompany the book itself, too. There are videos and pages to download for each chapter, as well as a printable certificate upon completion of the book (and the course). With all of those resources, it should be easy for an adult to use these resources, along with the book, to teach a Bible study or detective class. I love these resources! They are deep, kid-friendly, and easy to use. I'm definitely going to be using God's Crime Scene for Kids with my own family. I received a free copy of this book from LitFuse Publicity. All opinions are my own.

Detective scientists

Coming on the heels of Cold-Case Christianity for Kids, in God’s Crime Scene for Kids author Wallace challenges kids again to investigate God’s design in the universe. This book talks about how there is too much intelligence in the universe; it is too fine tuned for it to have come into existence from nothing. Siting examples such as a an empty nest that was made by an intelligent creature to withstand falling apart if it were to fall to the functions of a motor designed by human intelligence. Such forces as chance, accidents, or even gravity do not have the ability to put together or make anything out of nothing. This book investigates that everything that is made now that we see, is made by animals or people and obviously begs us to answer the question as to why that would have been different from the beginning. With cartoon illustrations that draw the reader in and make the author points easier to understand and easier to grasp the concepts taught; makes this a great book for kids to understand science from a creative point of view. Also the theme of making the kids detectives and looking at the information from a detective standpoint makes for an interesting read. I think these books would be fun to read as a stand-alone or as a great addition to a science curriculum. I received a copy of this book for free through Litfuse Publicity. I was not required to post a positive review and all views an opinions are my own.

interesting concept

Jason has found a strange box in his grandmother's attic. The contents do not make sense, and it has a note addressed to him. He enlists the help of his friends from the Junior Detective's Academy to help him solve the mystery. Readers learn how to use clues to solve the mystery for Jason and to discover God in creation. The book is written in present tense with drawings that are almost cartoon like. Throughout the book are Detective Definitions, Dig Deep assignments, and Tools for becoming a better detective. I read the book, but also had my 9 yr old read it to get a perspective from the targeted age group. I was a little thrown off by the present tense wording, but it didn't seem to bother my daughter. She read the book, but didn't get involved in any of the extra activities that were provided for the reader. She said she liked it, but wasn't very engaged. It was "just a nice story". Since she is a huge fan of mysteries, this surprised me. This made me wonder if it was how the book was written, rather than the subject matter. Overall, it is a very neat concept that I think most kids will enjoy. But it didn't grab my daughter or I like we'd hoped. I received a copy of this book from Litfuse Publicity. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Great Resource for Parents and Ministry

I was excited when I received the offer from Litfuse to review this book. I was mainly because I wanted the chance for my 9 year old grandson to read the book. And because I thought it would be a good book to recommend to home school parents. I didn't realize until I received the book that it is the 2nd in the series. We loved the first book Cold-Case Christianity for Kids. Both books have great illustrations. Both books are both written to get the attention of you readers. I don't know of a better tool for parents. My grandson devoured the first book. I haven't had a chance yet to God's Crime Scene to him. For a 9 year old he is intrigued with investigating things. One of his favorite t.v. shows is Mysteries at the museum. Approaching the Bible in this way using detective skills to prove God's existence is interesting to him. I highly recommend God's Crime Scene to parents. I highly recommend church leaders and librarians to consider this great tool to use in ministry. The authors have a really cool interactive website. Click here to visit Case Makers Academy. I received a complimentary copy from Litfuse

A fantastic resource

One of the metaphorical drums that I am constantly beating to the leadership at my church as well as my friends and family is the need to be training and instructing our kids to tackle the challenges facing the church today. While it can be debatable if we are in fact living in the last days or if we will live to see the rise of the Antichrist (or the Rapture, depending on your eschatology), I don’t think there’s any question that our kids and the youth in our churches will face challenges to the truth of the Christian worldview that many who are my age or older did not face until much later, if they ever faced them. I’ve often said that my kids will need to deal with issues in elementary school that I didn’t see until I stepped onto the Arizona State campus. The reliability and authority of the bible, the church, the existence of God, even the historicity of Jesus of Nazareth are foundational to what we as Christians believe and they’re all under attack like never before. It is imperative, then, that we equip our kids to know not only the fundamental aspects of the Gospel message, but also that the Christian faith is something that is evidentially, objectively, and verifiably true. It is for this reason that I so deeply appreciate Cold Case Christianity for Kids as well as its newest companion, God’s Crime Scene for Kids. Often attributed to Einstein, it has been said that if you can’t explain something simply, you don’t understand it well enough. Having just recently turned the last pages on God’s Crime Scene for Kids, it is clear to me that author and apologist J. Warner Wallace understands the material well. If, like me, you’ve read the original God’s Crime Scene, you’ll know that it appeals to subject matter that can be quite difficult for the average reader. Abstract concepts like consciousness, determinism, and objective morality can make most adults feel bewildered, so I was curious to know how Wallace would handle the same subjects for an elementary-to-middle school audience. I was pleased to find that he neither skimmed over the hard stuff, nor did he simply cut any of the subjects out. Rather, he has managed to bring simple and easily understandable analogies that any child within the recommended age range should be able to understand. A standout example, I think, is in chapter six. In the middle of a discussion of if there is more to us than our brains, Wallace explains that we would not be able to hold anyone accountable for their actions if everything was just a physical event inside their nervous system. He gives this analogy: “We don’t blame the dominoes for falling over, but we do blame a sibling if he or she pushes them over. Why? Because the dominoes had no choice, but our sibling did. Unless we have the true ability to make free choices, no one could be held accountable for their actions. If our actions are simply uncontrollable physical events in our brains, no criminal could ever be blamed for a crime.” Not to get into a separate theological discussion, but some time ago I had a similar conversation with my wife regarding why Calvinism is often accused of being deterministic. From the look on her face after we were finished, it was clear that I had done more to confuse than clarify. I really wish now that I’d had something as simple as Wallace’s domino analogy at the time. Not everyone has siblings, but nearly all kids have had an experience or three when they were coloring, building, or stacking and someone else came along and ruined it all. This book speaks their language without speaking down to them. God’s Crime Scene for Kids will be familiar to those who have already read through Wallace’s first “… for Kids” book, as it follows the same formula. Each of the points of evidence follows those laid out in the adult version of the book step-by-step with the intent that the parent or teacher will work through the book with the child as a sort of mutual learning journey, the difference being that God’s Crime Scene for Kids is overlaid with a narrative featuring the same characters as the previous book. Of course, the story here has been cleaned up significantly from the adult version of the book as God’s Crime Scene had many examples taken from Wallace’s real-life work as a homicide detective and – though they were heavily edited for use in a Christian book – could at times be a bit gruesome. Rather, in the kid’s version, the narrative follows a young man, Jason, who has stumbled across a box in the attic with his name on it. He enlists the help of his instructor and fellow cadets in the academy to help him determine where it came from, what it means, etc. No dead bodies in this one. Also like the first “… for Kids” book, Wallace and the publisher have put together a series of videos, worksheets, and activities to go with the book so kids are more likely to retain the information. This allows the fun opportunity for the kids to put together their own case file that will include an Academy Graduation certificate once they’re done. We did this with my own kids for the first book and they had a lot of fun with it. I’ve considered putting together little Detective Kits complete with toy badges and police hats to give to my nieces and nephews as part of their Christmas presents, but on average they are younger than my own kids and I wasn’t sure if they were ready for it yet. Maybe next year. However, I still think it could be a fun summer or winter vacation activity for those parents who are trying to deal with bored kids while they’re out of school, or homeschooling parents who are looking for something to break up their normal curriculum. In short, this is a fantastic resource for any parent, Sunday school teacher or pastor looking to equip the youth in their care in a way that is deeper, more challenging, and (I believe) more fruitful than simply teaching them bible stories. Highly recommended. Disclosure: I received a complimentary digital copy of this book for review purposes, though this has not affected my opinion.

Fantastic tool for teaching children!!

J. Warner Wallace has given us another great book for kids that ties in creation science and logic. His first book, Cold Case Christianity was a book that my son thoroughly enjoyed! cold case In my home teaching logic and logical thought started very early. We ask probing questions and try to teach the children to draw their own conclusions about certain things. Teaching our children to think for themselves, to think critically and to apply logic has always been a priority. Personally, I love books that do the same thing! God’s Crime Scene for Kids draws children into a delightful story about children who are asking questions about the world around them, and who are using clues to figure out the answers. The main character, Jason, has discovered a box of treasures in his grandmother’s attic. This starts the adventure with him and his friends as they try to figure out what the treasures are and what they mean. J. Warner Wallace is a real life detective who solved Cold Case crimes. In his story he applies the same logic and process to teaching children to ask questions and find a solution. I love the approach Mr. Wallace takes to teach a step by step system to solve a problem, a system that these children will be able to use throughout their lives. Most importantly I love that this book points back to Creation – and as a form of science. That we can trace what we believe to be true in God’s word and find evidence that supports that. This is a great book for children about 8 and up, but even your older children will enjoy it! NOTE : I received a copy of God’s Crime Scene at no cost.

and it received a very solid five-star rating from me (not an easy task! )

Why I Choose This Book: This spring I read “Forensic Faith” by the same author, and it received a very solid five-star rating from me (not an easy task!), so I was eager to read his newest book. I was especially intrigued since it was for kids. What I Thought about This Book: Excited side note first: I received an ARC of this book (for those of you who don’t know, that stands for “Advanced Reader Copy”). I can’t even tell you how long I wanted to join that elusive reviewers-club of getting ARCs before I first landed one. Now, each time I open a package and see those three beautiful letters staring back at me, I feel like I’ve reached the pinnacle of success in the blogging review world. (So, THANK YOU Litfuse!) This book was cool, yet unique. Y’all, it was written in a mixture of Second and Third person, which doesn’t sound like it would work, but it totally did for this book. So, pretty much I, as the reader, was part of the story, although more like a bystander. The main character was Jason, and we got to see from his point of view most of the time, but every so often there would be a sentence that said something like “You stood on your tip-toes, with the rest of the kids, trying to see into the box.” Which inserted you right into the story which is a fantastic way to get the reader involved. Speaking of getting involved… GUYS! There’s a whole website for you to get even MORE involved and watch videos and fill out worksheets and goodness who wouldn’t find this incredibly cool? It made me think of VBS, but it’s tailored to be able to do it at home by yourself without having a lot of extra work and supplies needed. Overall the story wasn’t something that was especially gripping, but that wasn’t the point. The story really helped carry the principles and ideas along that the book teaches. And the authors did a great job of stuffing a lot of really important information about how we can tell the world was designed, etc… into the book. Conclusion: This book is a great way for kids to learn! Very interactive, informative, interesting, and fun, all rolled into one. Rating: I’m giving God’s Crime Scene for Kids 4 out of 5 stars. *I received this book free from Litfuse in exchange for an honest review

Fantastic way of answering questions about God.

This is a fantastic book for children using a ‘real-life’ mystery, Detective Jeffries helps the children in his Junior Detective’s Academy to prove God’s existence. The book has a lot of pictures which is great for visual learners and CSI assignments in the margins have children digging into the Word for clues and answers. There are detective definitions, a tool for their ‘bag’, and digging deeper areas in little boxes in the margins. Visit Cold Case Christianity for Kids to view videos and print off pages to make a detective notebook that goes along with the book. Even I enjoyed this book and it gave me more ideas on how to talk to my children when they ask about God.

Worthwhile Investment in Your Child's Faith (and Maybe Yours, Too)

First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to J. Warner Wallace and his publisher for sending me a copy of "God's Crime Scene for Kids" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me. “God’s Crime Scene for Kids” by J. Warner Wallace is the next step in helping kids (and I must confess, this adult) understand why Christians believe what we believe. This book will open the eyes of those with “blind faith” and reveal the evidence behind the soundness of creation. The easy-to-read chapters help to develop logical thought processes while engaging the reader who is drawn into the book to help solve a mystery with the story’s main characters. This book is filled with tools and challenges to build faith and sound reasoning techniques. “God’s Crime Scene for Kids” is a great tool to help build a solid faith foundation for Children of God of all ages. I’m sure I will read it many times myself and I can’t wait to share it with my grandson.

Great book for kids

I love J. Warner Wallace's books, and I'm thrilled he's taken his homicide detective skills to Christianity and apologetics. As a Dateline fan, I already "knew" him from the show, and thought it was super cool he also happens to be a Christian. In God's Crime Scene For Kids, he follows on the heels Cold-Case Christianity For Kids and teaches kids how to read the "clues" God has left in the universe to defend and explain God's existence. "In this companion to Cold-Case Christianity for Kids, Jason uncovers a mystery in his grandmother’s attic. Ultimately, kids will learn how to make their own case for God’s existence." I have a 7 year old, a 9 year old, and an 11 year old, and this was enjoyable for all three of them. Kids are often confident in their beliefs, but don't know how to explain or share them with others. This book helps to bridge that gap between belief and knowledge. God's Crime Scene for Kids is full of engaging, comic-book-style illustrations and "CSI Assignment" sidebars that encourage kids to look up "clues" from the Bible. An engaging "detective" story full of interesting characters is used to draw out truths and teach children how God created the universe, and how to share this with others. This is a thoroughly fun and enjoyable book for boys and girls alike. I highly recommend it! I received a copy of this book from Litfuse in order to provide an honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own.

great book for kids!

This is such a cute book, I really enjoyed reading it and now my kids are beginning to read it as well! Jason enlists the help of his friends and also a detective to help him solve a mystery when he discovers a box in his grandma's attic. There are various clues that are shared will help Jason and his friends work toward solving the mystery. However, throughout this book there are also clues or evidence shared which help each of us realize that God is real and actually does exist. This is a great book for kids as it is fun to read and also pretty easy to read and follow along with as well. There are illustrations throughout the book as well as little boxes that highlight key points or ask questions or share tips on detective work. These "extras" add so much to the book and story and help hold children's attention spans and focus. What kid hasn't wanted to be a detective or spy and solve mysteries?! Therefore, this is an excellent book for kids that will entertain and teach and I am eager to check out more by the Wallaces.

Excellent for children with questions about God

God’s Crime Scene for Kids: Investigate Creation with a Real Detective is the first book that I’ve read by J. Warner Wallace, a forensic detective. Though I do not have the companion book, Cold Case Christianity, the children were still able to enjoy. Parental dialogue is a must for children to grasp the deeper meanings of this book. For parents without a deep understanding of the Word of God, the companion book is likely needed. I was pleased that the book referenced scriptures rather than writing them all out. This allowed my children to follow along in our choice of Bible translations. This book encourages children to take an evidence-based approach to Christianity. It has taken principles from Cold Case Christianity and simplified it for children I would suggest God’s Crime Scene and Cold Case Christianity for parents and children seeking answers from God. A complimentary copy of this book was provided by Litfuse Publicity Group. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. All opinions are my own.

a good book but a bit slow

This book intrigued my kids ages 7-13yrs. Every day we'd read another chapter and they'd get closer to solving the mystery! They looked forward to it and loved finding out more of the adventure. It is a bit of a slow read, for example, rather than solve the mystery of the shoe box, they spend time trying to figure out if the shoe box was placed in the attic or if it just appeared in the attic. This seemed silly until they applied the same idea to how the universe came into being. I think this would be an awesome read for anyone interested in theories, in schools who don't teach creation or someone who likes to come to conclusions for themselves. It is set for reading individually but can be read out loud. This book was donated for the purpose of review

About the Book: In this companion to Cold-Case Christianity for Kids, Jason uncovers a mystery in his grandmother’s attic. My Review: Attics are scary places to yours truly, but to children they love a treasure hunt--good or bad they are attracted to places that will offer up some mystery to solve. As is the case for Jason and his clue searching friends. In this addition of God's Crime Scene for Kids, Jason and his friends along with Detective Jeffries from the Jr. Detective’s Academy go along on a very interesting treasure hunt that begins in Jason's grandmother's attic. Now written in a third person form, this book acts as your guide book and you along with the main character will discover the answer to the mystery together. My kiddos love this series of books for this very reason. Along the way you will be offered detective definitions, a tool for your detective bag, dig deep, and assignments. This book is full of interesting facts and rabbit trails for your child to explore thats what makes it so much fun for my kids and yours will love it too. A fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Exploring that is good for our kids! **Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.

Engaging...

I think having a true life detective help you solve a mystery is an incredible once in a lifetime experience. The storyline of finding out about the mysterious box is not nearly as interesting as how the story ends (in renewal) and the way the author drew the same investigation towards God and if/how he really exists. The author had both a simple and profound way of explaining things that made it easily readable and relatable for both kids and adults. I think the author makes valid points that when you really examine the evidence, shows that God truly does exist! This is a good series (as I've read book one as well) for kids that need to hear truth from another source, and a highly respected one at that. I think kids will like it and be able to follow both storylines very easily and enjoyably. I received this book from the author/publisher/publicist but was not required to leave a review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Get one for your child today

This read is a spin-off from the book Cold-Case Christianity For Kids but you will have no issue reading it as a stand alone. This is a highly inventive way to start kids thinking analytically but also learn about the Bible these both being profoundly important in their lives. Additionally, the book being an easy read for children, it is full of explanatory pictures that follow along with the story and activities that help you solve the case as you advance through the book. Therefore, these activities consist of reading passages in the Bible (CSI Assignment), learning new words (Detective Definitions), and the explanation of how an investigation works (A “TOOL” for your detective bag). How could this possibly get any better? There is an interactive website with videos and more activities in addition to "leader's guides" for adults to help the kids with their mission. Therefore, the whole family can participate! This particular book is both groovy and education in multiple manners. Furthermore, providing quality bonding time with you and your child. Also, as an adult, I learned a great deal from it. I recommend this book to all children and adults who are kids at heart. God Bless and get a copy for a child you know today 👼

Engaging kids to investigate the evidence and make a case!

This companion book to Cold-Case Christianity for Kids begins back at the Junior Detective Academy where cadet Jason reveals he has a mystery in his own attic. The cadets are guided through the investigation by Detective Jeffries to uncover the evidence to solve Jason's mystery but also engage characters and readers in discovering the proof of God's existence. What I enjoyed about this book for middle grade readers is the inclusive point-of-view given to the reader. The reader becomes one of the cadets and is encouraged throughout the story to think alongside the other characters. The mystery is engaging but the factual evidence is presented in a way that is understandable and conclusive to readers. Throughout the pages there are opportunities for the reader to further engage in the story with CSI Assignment that leads readers to Scriptural references; Detective Definitions that present further opportunity for readers to learn about detective work and investigation; and Dig Deeper connection that links readers to an online source that's guaranteed to make readers feel like they are a part of the cadet academy. A fun story, a unique way to engage young readers, and the perfect book to encourage readers of any age to further examine the world around them and use critical thinking skills to investigate and defend the evidence of God's existence. *I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

entertaining while teaching

The subtitle of this book is "Investigate Creation with a real live detective." Using his experience as a cold case homicide detective, Wallace has written a book for kids with Creation being the case to be solved. The premise of the book is a detective named Jeffries is training kids in the Special Investigation Junior Academy. Throughout the book, there is interaction between the detective and the kids he is training. He explains the methods used to solve cold cases, and helps them apply them to Creation to prove it really happened. The book is a fun and interesting read. Even with myself being an adult, I found the crime solving methods interesting, especially when applied to Creation. The Wallaces have put together a great book for kids that will not only entertain, but will also teach. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

just love this kids Bible study book

just love this kids Bible study book! I have always loved detective books and I am so glad to find this Christian on for kids to have fun reading. Jason and his friends, Hannah, Daniel and Jasmine will take kids on a exciting and fun journey that will also help them learn about God. Has your child ever wondered about the universe and how the world came into being? They will learn from a real life detective that God does exist and the universe was created by Him. I love the colors of the cover, and the graphics are just screaming for those 8-12 year old girls and boys to pick them up and carry them home. Discover the mystery of the contents in the box Jason finds in his grandmother’s attic! I received this book from Litfuse tours. I was not required to write a review, it was my choice to write this positive review, and the opinions in this review are my honest opinion’s only.

My Kids Really Liked This Book

I read this book with my two daughters, ages 8 years and 10 years. They really enjoyed our time together reading this book. I also enjoyed seeing them nod their heads as something made sense. They also asked me right away if they didn’t understand something. They said they had a lot of fun reading this book with me and thought that it was written very well. I enjoyed the way the author walked the kids through the shoe box investigation, teaching techniques that cold case detectives use. Then the author also applied these techniques to answer the question of how the universe came to be. I felt that the subject matter was handled in an understandable way for kids. I think my 10 year old daughter could have read this book on her own and understood it very well. I think my 8 year old daughter needed me to be the one reading it to her, simply for content. She would probably have walked away with a few questions still needing to be answered by me, but that is just an age thing. We’ve enjoyed this book a lot and I have now ordered Cold Case Christianity for Kids to read through with my daughters. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Great way to show that God is in Control,.

I was excited when I saw this title as an option for review. My oldest son, Colton, who is 6 is starting to ask questions about Salvation. I thought this would help along with the process and would help answer questions that come up when talking about Salvation. My son and I enjoyed reading this book - It's not only a kids bible study book, it also has a lot of great pictures in it. Some of my favorite things were the different verses that are in the margins. For example (pg. 51) CSI Assignment: God wants you to ask questions so you can be certain that He exists and the Bible is true. Read James 1:5 --- then it has some blanks to fill in. I loved that it shows how God created the universe, and how He is involved in our every day lives. The book also gives definitions and breaks down detective lingo. We enjoyed this book. I received a copy of this book through the Litfuse Blogging program. All opinions are my own.

An excellent teaching tool

J. Warner & Susie Wallace have done it again. They have created an excellent tool for teaching kids complex concepts about the universe and the inherent evidence for a creator. They have woven the teaching into an exciting mystery that keeps the readers attention from beginning to end. This is our second effort in using Case Maker Academy materials for our 5th & 6th grade youth. We were incredibly pleased with the success of Cold Case Christianity for Kids and are very excited to be starting God's Crime Scene. As one of our 5th graders explained to his friends "Cadet Academy teaches you about the evidence that supports the gospel so now my faith is MY faith and not just because my mom & dad said so."

Great tool for middle-schoolers.

This book works through basic apologetics with kids through the lens of a police cadet academy and middle-schoolers who are learning to think logically and deductively about different elements of Christianity. The book contains great illustrations and are filled with tips and apologetic tools but in a way that younger kids can understand. While there are adult versions of the books, I love how these introduce important questions in a way that younger students can begin in wrestle with them. In God's Crime Scene the cadets are on the quest to discover who left a box of items in the attic for Jason to find and why. The detective uses this process to help show how there is evidence for a Creator. I love that there is a website of supporting material (videos, worksheets, etc.) as well.

Book Review | God's Crime Scene for Kids: Investigate Creation with a Real Detective

I've heard of J. Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace, but this is the first time reading any of their books. I received a digital copy of this book to review, & I love it! it can actually be used for my younger two girls during the school year for reading, & Bible. The recommended age is 8-12 yrs old, but I really enjoyed reading this myself! *Disclaimer* I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.

Great resource for families!

As they did in Cold-Case Christianity for Kids, J. Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace have created an engaging mystery for children which, in this case, also helps the reader to think critically about the creation of the world and the existence of God. In God's Crime Scene for Kids, the junior detectives (and kids who read the book) investigate a mysterious box that Jason found in his attic. As they try to determine how the box got there and what the items in the box mean, they also learn how to think critically about creation, evolution, and the presence of a creator. The book has lots of opportunities for interaction within its pages, and there's also a website with videos and activity pages for each chapter. This would be a great book for families to go through together, and I also think it would work well for Sunday school. It's entertaining, logical, and easy to understand, and I think it's a great resource! Disclosure of material connection: I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and the opinions expressed are my own.

This book is such a wonderful way for kids to explore and learn about God ...

God’s Crime Scene for Kids by J. Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace. This book is such a wonderful way for kids to explore and learn about God and he really does exist. If you have a child that is at that age where they want to know more then this is a great book for them. I as a homeschool mom love it. It is a wonderful learning tool. It can be added into your homeschool work. I highly recommend this book for that young child in your life. I received a complementary copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion. 4.5 stars!

Getting Kids to Think

I thought this book was a fun way to get kids to think about the evidence that God has given us of Himself in His creation all around us. This book helps them to take the different thinking skills they have learned through the fictional story and apply them to their real life surroundings. I like books that encourage critical thinking. If you're looking for a fun book for your child ages 8-12 yrs old, pick up this fun book that will get them thinking about how they can see evidence for God all around them. **I received this complimentary book from Litfuse Publicity Group. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Terrific book !

I am just thrilled with this book! It is perfect for a devotional type study with your kids to help with apologetics! The characters are interesting, and we are even a character in the book. It really engages the kids in thinking about the two mysteries and how to solve them. Each chapter also has little lessons about detective work and looking up a verse that corresponds in the bible. I am thrilled anytime a book gets us to open the Bible! We have been using this as a devotional of sorts by reading a chapter a day. It works really well since the chapters are just the right length to keep them interested and there are only 8, so we finished in a little over a week. I really hope they continue this and bring us another book in the future! This is a great read for kids and adults alike. I received this book free from the publisher but wasn't required to write a review.

Move over Sherlock!

Who doesn't enjoy a good mystery - especially tweens. In "God's Crime Scene For Kids," by J Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace, tweens will help solve a mystery with Jason and his friends while learning how to be real crime investigators. The skills learned as an investigator are also used on the universe and the existence of God. There are side bars in the book to help tweens develope their investigative skills and and deepen their knowledge of the God. There are more activities at a web site provided in the book. A good way to get kids involved and understand the Bible. I received this complimentary copy from Litfuse to give my honest opinion.

She fell in love with Jason

"Just ONE MORE chapter, Mom....PLLLLEAAAASSSSEEE!!!" This became a regular plea during the 4 days (yes 4 days) it took to read J. Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace's new book, God's Crime Scene For Kids with my 8-year-old daughter, Dyllan. It took only 4 days because she could. Not. Get. Enough. She fell in love with Jason, Hannah, Daniel, Jasmine, and Detective Jeffries—and loved the challenge of solving the mystery of what they found in Grandma Miri's attic. She excitedly applied the skills she learned from that investigation to the investigation of the origin of the universe. As a mother and an apologist, I can't tell you how many cartwheels my heart did when I saw my daughter's careful notes and observations. (Slow-clap and standing ovation for the Wallaces for inspiring my 8-year-old to highlight and define words like causation and evidence!) They captured my girl's imagination, engaged her mind, and taught her not only valuable apologetics but critical thinking skills that she will use for the rest of her life. The story begins with the same crew from the Wallace's last kids book, Cold Case Christianity for Kids, assembling once again at the Police Junior Cadet Academy to train with the tough but kind Detective Alan Jeffries. This time, they will be solving the case of the mysterious box Jason found in his grandmother's attic. As they solve that mystery, they apply the skills they learn to the mystery surrounding the origin and creation of the universe—who or what caused it to come into existence? My daughter was introduced to concepts like cosmology, intelligent design, the fine-tuning of the universe, consciousness, and free-will. The Wallaces also weaved in what is referred to in apologetics circles as "the problem of evil." We discover toward the end of the book that the reason Jason lives with his grandmother is that both of his parents were tragically killed in a car accident. This has left both him and Grandma Miri questioning the goodness of God and His very existence—even revealing that Miri has lost all faith in God as a result. As they discover credible scientific evidence, they begin to understand that real evil does, in fact, exist... which means God, in fact, exists. (You'll have to read the book to learn why.) I don't want to give too many spoilers, but as a mom, I can tell you that the manner in which the Wallace's handle the problem of pain and evil is masterful, age-appropriate, and meaningful. It was actually my favorite thing about the book. After reading through the book, we went back and completed the entire interactive experience. (I wish we would have done that as we read through it the first time, but I went with her flow...she was just loving reading through it.) What do I mean by "entire interactive experience"? Once you get the book, you can go to a special website designed especially to complement the reading. Each chapter is accompanied by an intro video, which features J. Warner Wallace introducing the material, and giving some basic instruction on how to evaluate the evidence. (In the first video, he is wearing his police uniform, which Dyllan thought was "awesome!") There is also an Academy Notebook sheet, a fun activity sheet to complete, and an adult leader guide worksheet for each chapter. To top it off, there is a customizable graduation certificate your child will be proud to receive when they finish their training and solve the case. Every day, my daughter and I looked forward to reading the book, watching the videos, and completing the worksheets. It provoked deep conversations about God, initiated some good bonding time, and gave my daughter confidence in what she believes. Thank you J. Warner and Susie Wallace for crafting this tremendous resource! God's Crime Scene For Kids: Kid tested...Mother approved.

Excellent Resource for Kids

There simply aren’t enough wonderful things I can say about God’s Crime Scene for Kids. The book is geared toward children 8-12 years old. Of course, that doesn’t mean children outside of that targeted age group can’t enjoy what this book has to offer. Throughout the book Detective Jeffries guides the kids through the process of locating evidence, deciphering that evidence and utilizing the 5 W and 1 H questions. All the while leading the kids to the evidence of God and his amazing Creation. J. Warner Wallace makes understanding the process of detective work easy to follow and shows how these logical thinking skills easily apply to discovering and making a case for God. I enjoyed the many side-notes throughout the book. These are broken down by “CSI Assignment”, “Detective Definitions” and “A Tool for your Detective Bag”. Each not offers another level of information to the reader to help them on their investigative journey. Our children really enjoyed digging into scripture via the CSI Assignments and found learning detective definitions extremely interesting. J.Warner Wallace and his wife have created activity sheets on their website so you and your child can complete activities as you read through the book. There are also video clips and even a printable certificate at the end. These are a valuable resource for driving home the skills learned in the book. If you and your children are looking to learn more about the evidence for God’s existence then God’s Crime Scene for Kids is a wonderful place to start. Reading through J. Warner Wallace’s latest book has been an immense blessing to our family. It has sparked an interest in our children to learn more about how to be strong defenders of their faith through skillful investigation, acquiring evidence and case building. It has been a joy to read about Jason’s mystery and how this one strange box led him to uncovering the love of family and the truth about our incredible God. Our family was given a copy of God’s Crime Scene for Kids by LitFuse Publicity to read and share our honest review.
