Long ago, the Monarch Northstrider created a world of his own.

This world, known as Ghostwater, housed some of his most valuable experiments. Now, it has been damaged by the attack of the Bleeding Phoenix, and a team of Skysworn have been sent to recover whatever they can from the dying world.

Now, Lindon must brave the depths of this new dimension, scavenging treasures and pushing his skills to new heights to compete with new enemies.

Because Ghostwater is not as empty as it seems.

Higher Danger, Feels almost like a Dungeon Crawl

I was lucky enough to beta read for this book. It's a fantastic addition to the Cradle series. Stylistically, I feel like it's closest to the very first book, with Lindon spending a considerable amount of time exploring and learning about a part of the world virtually on his own. This style has advantages and disadvantages, but most importantly it means that he doesn't have the benefit of powerful allies that can intervene and save him at any moment. This lends a real element of risk and tension to the book, and that helps to allow Lindon to grow. We also get some great moments with other characters, including some much needed development for Mercy and my personal favorite Cradle character, Yerin. All in all, it's a great book and I strongly recommend it.

Lindon grows in amazing ways, and we have a new partner!

Book 5 in Lindon's tale is with us, and it's a doozy. I'll start by saying I didnt start this series until book 4 was a few weeks from coming out, and really fell in love with the story and style about halfway through the first book. If you haven't started this series, I recommend getting started now. This books little sense otherwise. Although if you are looking at book 5, I am sure you know what I am talking about. We start off shortly after where book 4 left off, with Lindon and Yerin being used and scrutinized by the Skysworn. They are taken by their 2 guards off on a special mission that should keep them out of the public eye for a while, since the empire is still trying to keep panic down after the Bleeding Phoenix has made it's appearance, and Lindon's Blackflame path is getting stronger. They are taken to the titular Ghostwaters research facility, created by the Northstrider, to attempt to salvage whatever they can from this crumbling facility that is essentially a underwater pocket world made into a lab. Immediately upon arrival they are greeted by a open doorway they do not expect, and Lindon is taken in with his Skysworn guard while Yerin remains outside along with Mercy and their guard. Once inside things kick off to a startling and bloody beginning that as usual does not bode well for Lindon's survival. He survives and manages to stumble on a building with what appears to be trash only, and behaving in his usual fashion, manages to make some startling discoveries. I wont describe more of the story from here on out because you really owe it to yourself to read the book. What I will say is that this book takes Lindon on an amazing path, and the ending is surprising and satisfying. Yerin also does advance but this story is very much Lindon centric, so her part is much smaller, and focuses on her efforts to try to save Lindon. Mercy, meanwhile, being new to the group I suppose, is somewhat relegated to a curious but mostly sideline part. I've started to re-read the book already to soak it in, but if you felt satisfaction in book 2 when he gets his bloodforged body, or book 3 as he advances his Blackflame path in the testing grounds, you will really like this story.

Amazing Fifth Volume with great plot development and world building, also Orthos is there so it’s even better

So I loved this book. This is my favorite book in the series so far, not only do we learn more of the Monarch factions and what happened after a certain disaster we get to see character development for the main characters, genuinely hilarious moments, and most importantly we see Lindon and Yerin grow and quite literally advance. The introduction of new allies along with new enemies made along the way also set up great plot line for future novels as the deadline Lindon faces grows steadily closer whilst the powerful all begin plans for a new competition between them that can cost thousands their lives If I may mention my only dislike about the book, its pretty simple. Two certain characters despite having a somewhat important focus in the previous book are basically shoved into a dark closet and are basically rarely mentioned for the rest of the Volume. This irks me because... well it’s hard to say without spoilers but it’s strange how abruptly they both leave the plot. However that is only a minor flaw in my eyes. If you are a fan of the series read this book. If you’ve never heard of this series before in your life read the previous ones and then read this book. If you are like me and believe Orthos is the one true god, read this.

A Great Addition to the Series

The Cradle series is one of my new favorites. I recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy novels. The latest book in the series absolutely adds to the mythos of the world. If you liked the previous novels, this one will definitely build upon a strong base. My only two complaints about this book are that it's not longer and that the next one will take so long to publish.

An amazing addition to the series

I need the next book.... Compelling story, great character growth and development, and twists that make you go WOW. If you picked up just this book, go read the ones before it. If you are caught up except for this one, well what are you waiting for?! If you are all caught up, including this book, wanna help me kidnap the author and keep him locked in a bedroom so he can just keep writing? And we can read the books as he finishes the chapters! No bashing feet with sledge hammers, promise!

Half Skysworn, Half Blackflame/Soulsmith/Unsouled

Out of 18 chapters total, the starting 10 or so chapters (about 2.5 hours out of 4 hours of reading?) felt very similar to Skysworn. If you felt that the previous fourth book felt different than the others in tone/pacing/whatever, it does it again in my opinion. However, halfway through Lindon gets back to a familiar self-improvement section of story, and the whole thing just started to feel better to me. Maybe it felt like it slowed down? I'm not sure, but I'm glad I fought to keep reading to get to the reward which was a satisfying payoff. Also, there's something new and amusing at the end for a little extra value.

Back on track

After the slight misstep that was Skysworn, Will gets back on track with Ghostwater. This one may even be my favorite. Never boring, but also never shallow. The perfect balance of action, character development, story advancement, and a new character. The usual insanely imaginative storytelling that I have come to expect from Will. He got this one out of the park. Loved it. It's starting to feel like Lindon is starting to feel like he is going to be able to accomplish his goal of saving his village.

I can't wait for the next book in the series! A good return to form for Mr Wight IMO!

This was a pretty good book especially compared to the last book in the series which was a little bit of a let down to me. Blitzed through it once already, although I'll probably re-read it again a couple times. I can't wait for the next book in the series! I liked the almost "dungeon" like setting of this book along with the multi-level advancements of both the main and secondary protagonists of these stories. Lindon as always goes through a lot and comes through as much by luck as by ingenuity (let's also give him credit for the tremendous amount of effort he puts in) and he does take a number of significant strides in this book. Yerin does the same and both advance in a satisfying if somewhat too brisk manner but it's all well written. I'm personally waiting for the time when Lindon and Yerin go back to his home valley. Hopefully the author hasn't forgotten about their goal to go back to get revenge among other things. With how strong they've become, I really can't wait to read the reactions of everyone back in the valley :-)

Always the underdog

A common theme in this series, is that the MC is always playing catchup to everyone else, and then faces a situation where he needs to survive (preferably win) a fight against an enemy who's at least a level stronger than he currently is. This plot type repeats throughout the series, but the world building constantly evolves to create new settings and situations to keep things interesting. There's also a new character who was introduced in the previous book that we're still learning about. Overall, while the plot line is predictable (the underdog MC wins to fight another day), it's still an enjoyable journey, with a fascinating world and original magic system.

They have always been fun, but wow

I don't do reviews often, but this was a brilliant bit of story telling. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Lindon, you can do it!!! And he does it.

Will Wight is officially my favorite Indie Author. I think he is an independent author? His craft is so great, well above and beyond a lot of what I've been reading on amazon. Book 5 is so good. I read it all in 1 day, whereas book 4 took 4 days. Something about 4 was slow but 5 is WOWZA. It's as good as book 1 and reminded me why I'm reading this series. The ending was also fun. You can see the authors sense of humor in the "bloopers" and the "Dross Report". What a great way to bring the reader back. Excellent book. Now onto book 6!

Best since Blackflame, maybe best of the series!

The action and pacing of Ghostwater is spot on, as is the character development. One new character really is one of my favorite humorous characters in fiction now. Overall, Ghostwater is an improvement over Skysworn and became of the past 24 hours my favorite of the series. I can see Will's improvement as a story teller since I just finished my re-read of the first four books about 2-3 hours before this one his Amazon. Overall, an enjoyable read!

Smashing!

If you have read the previous books in the series, you must be reading the reviews simply out of curiosity; I cannot imagine sticking with this series to this point and having any doubts that one would purchase the next book. On the other hand, if you are new to the series, I would suggest starting with Unsouled and progressing from there; The writing is excellent, and each novel introduces new elements, world-building, and character development that you will gobble up in no-time. Thank you, Will Wight! I am looking forward to the next installment!

Read it in one sitting

The only problem with Cradle books are that they end too fast. The characters, dialogue and world are so amazing. It’s just fun to read and makes you realize why this art form is such a treasure to our race. Well done on another fun ride. I do believe the writing and stories keep improving. So read it already!

Luke Skywalker beds Pokemon Sue and their baby

Luke Skywalker beds Pokemon Sue and their baby Maytag Z belchs noxious blue odors killing everyone within the city. This newborn rulers diapers now fill with odours so foul it kills the first rescue team that was sent in. Dragon ball Z now has a new master. Turdwalker! Turdolator or simply the Turd! How down to your new master you pieces I shat. Turds here! How am I still here I have no clue. But I am.

An excellent addition to the Cradle series

An excellent addition to the Cradle series. It might edge out Blackflame as my favorite, but I can't be sure until I have the chance to do a reread. It has a much more self-contained story arc similar to the first few books. In Ghostwater we're introduced to quite a few new characters. One in particular stole the show, but I'll leave it at that. We get several PoVs from other characters, but they all feel natural and the focus remains on Lindon, which I prefer. The stage is nicely prepared for the sequel, so I can't wait to see what the next book brings.

best adventure yet

Ghostwater is definitely my favorite book of the cradle series by far. I think I liked this book so much because Lindon got to be Lindon and learned a lot by himself, no one was really pushing him or pointing him in any direction. He grows a lot enjoys the growth. In every book Wight does an amazing job in adding another layer to his world, another level of advancement to achieve. An interesting change happens to Lindon in this book as the world gets larger around him, and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! While I felt that skysworn was a little slow, there was a lot of world building that happened in that book to prepare the reader for Ghostwater, so it pays off!

Read this book now!! Best in the series!

I have been a fan of Will's since the Traveler's Gate series, but it wasn't until the Cradle series that I became obsessed. I have to be honest and say that Skysworn didn't feel finish the first time I read it, although I didn't feel the same way when I re-read it in preparation for Ghostwater. But, I can't express how satisfied I am with this book, how it ended, and how it leaves things for the next book. I was literally squealing to myself for the last 10%. I'd definitely say that Ghostwater is my favorite of the series. Just go buy it!

Best yet

Book five is when many epics jump the shark but I have to give Mr Wight major props, I enjoyed this the most of any Cradle volume to date. The whole Ghostwater conceit seemed a bit odd and even contrived to me at first -- and I still think it was maybe a bit too convenient a way for Lindon to accelerate his advancement -- but in the end the narrative was so entertaining I forgot all about those concerns and just went with it. And once again, just when the book's voice seems like it's going to tip over into Tolkien-at-his-worst grandiosity, Wight introduces a character with a completely new personality, refreshing as a splash of cold water. Welcome as Eithan was, Dross puts him in the shade. Looking forward to Underlord.

compelling characters and each book has been as good or better than the last

I rarely write reviews but this book/author deserves the time and effort. I'll keep it short. The entire story is exceptional and through 5 books the author has created a very interesting universe, compelling characters and each book has been as good or better than the last. My only complaint is that someone told the author he is allowed to have a life outside of writing these books so now we have to wait for the next book. Fortunately the author is dedicated to the story and releases books at a decent pace.

This book is Blackflame Squared

This book is for all those people that might have been a little disappointed by Skysworn. Within this novel's pages all of your wet dreams come true and more!

Best Yet

Why are you even reading this? If you read and liked the previous 4 books, buy this and read it. If you haven't read the other books, go back and start with Unsouled. If you read #4 and were kind of iffy on it and wonder if you should bother with this one, I think you'll like it. It is my favorite of the series so far and I am now hooked enough that I intend to read Wight's other series as well.

I love these books

Man, I love these books. They are epic, intricate, have amazing fight scenes, and an amazing magic system. I love the training and leveling up aspect, and the underdog conquering and succeeding. The only negative is that the books aren’t long enough, and there aren’t more out yet. The travelers gate series is really dope too. The elder empire is alright too.. it has its moments. Thanks for the great books! Can’t get enough!

Another mind blowing book

I read a book in 2 - 3 days at an average. At almost 60, I have read thousands and thousands of books. The only other series that I've read that has this depth of sheer imagination, color, and good story telling, is The Book Of The New Sun by Gene Wolfe. I really have to take my hat off to Will Wight. This series should get high honors. Outstanding!

The series just keeps getting better

With each entry into this series, the momentum and plot keep gaining speed. Start with Unsouled, and keep reading though this one, because this series is a wonderful, fun, action-packed, Wuxia-inspired, romp through a very unique universe with some complex and evolving characters. This has been one of my favorite reads so far this year, and I can't wait to see where the story goes next.

So good. So short.

Lindon and friends find themselves in yet another wacky situation. Lindon and his faithful reptilian companion find themselves in way over their heads while Yerin and Mercy have some much needed girl time. Will Lindon finally catch up to everyone? Will Yerin ever get a clear idea from her master's remnant? Will Mercy ever get a sense of balance? Find out!

Good addition to the series

This book is an improvement over the last one, but it felt like a side quest, not the main plot. Lindon advances significantly and he is becoming a badass, but he really didn’t do much to earn that, he drank some potions and locked himself in a room not to fight other sacred artist. I still don’t like that difference in powers and how even before a fight the outcome is decided… is off putting. I’m still hooked up to the series and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Another Great Entry

Will Wight continues his Cradle series with no decline in quality. Non-stop creativity combines with non-stop action to creat an exciting, fast paced read seasoned to perfection with Wight’s dry, sardonic humor. I often feel that books in this series read too fast, but that’s a product of the genre, the medium, and my enjoyment of the story—each book works like a sequel in a line of movies. Wight constantly impresses me with the speed with which he puts out continuations of his many projects, all while maintaining the integrity of his storytelling. More than maintaining—improving! Here’s to many more!

This book hits all of the right notes that you ...

This book hits all of the right notes that you want in this series. The fights are outstanding, the visuals that Will paints are vivid, and the ending leaves you ready for the next book more than any other book in the series. I can't wait for book 6!

Good continuation, but not the best book in the series

It's always tough to review a later book in the series, this one keeps the story going at a good pace with solid action, but doesn't have the same amazement that the first book did. Ultimately still very enjoyable and I'm eagerly awaiting the next book.

read cradle. the series is about pushing yourself, and this book has alot of character growth (physical and spiritual) :D

This book is awesome. If you are at this point, you've probs read some of cradle, and this is the best thus far (in my opinion). IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS SERIES, START NOW. it's definitely a great series about improvement, and the fan base is great (if barely small)

This one is the best one!

When I first started....lets just say I did not want to start. This one makes me glad I did. If you are thinking about starting this series, stop thinking and just do it. You will be glad you did. The series reminds me a bit of Naruto. So anime lovers can appreciate this series. Our main character continues to grow here, but he is turning out to be an absolute bad ass! Good job Will Wight.

I enjoy this series more than ANY other currently ongoing action/fantasy ...

I enjoy this series more than ANY other currently ongoing action/fantasy series for the following reasons: - The story flows naturally and the characters are well written and personable. - The magic system is completely unique (to me). - The Author isn't a publishing company stooge. He not only puts out >1 book/year, he puts out multiple books per year. That alone keeps me interested and abreast of the story, guaranteeing that I'll buy the next one. Who the hell is Patrick Rothfuss? Didn't he get busted in the "METOO" movement with Joss Whedon?

I... But...

It's... Speechless... It's everything I hoped for in book 5. Will is REALLY coming into his writing style now and with every book I enjoy it even more. I already can't wait for book 6. Just... Read it. Read it now.

F*** YEAH!

It’s Will’s best book so far. My only complaint is that it’s too short! Gotta get those page numbers up, Will! Those are rookie numbers. Gratitude for your speed at releasing books in the Cradle series.

Like a beer from a freshly tapped keg!

This book transitions smoothly where the last one ended. The story introduced several new characters all of who were fleshed out nicely and none of who were typical cookie cutter character molds. The story itself is very fast paced and definately entertaining. This book should not be read without having read the previous ones in my opinion. Great character developement, didn't notice any editing errors on the read through, and satisfied on length, all around another phenomenal story by a humorous and gifted writer. On a side note, we don't see something from House of Blades soon we're cutting your beer fund money!

Finished the series in under a week!

So, that was fast... I loved this series and I chain read them in under a week. It has been so long since I have had a series that I have enjoyed this much. The main characters are all likable and interesting people. They have their own personalities and perspectives, and that makes them even more fun to read about. The magic is interesting and varied, and all the combat is extremely exciting. Really cannot say enough good about this, and every other, book in the series.

Can’t wait for the next one

I thought this series was slow to start but very interesting. I’m glad I stuck with it because I can tell you every book is better then the one before. I’m really excited to read the next book. As for this book if you have not read the previous book I think you will be lost. For people following the series this book is the continuing growth of the main character as he is introduced to new enemy’s and new friends. This book ties in, the sometimes odd, connection to the outside universe. Great read.

Book 5... sounds just about Wight

If you’re 5 books in then it’s already too late. Just buy it for Christ sakes... wight fixes a few mistakes he made earlier in the series (specifically golds and their absolute hierarchy), and increases on the lore and sub plots. Suffice to say, it’s action packed, and well worth the 7-10$. Pretty short, but very visceral!

Delightful!

Ghostwater did not disappoint. I love this series and this edition just made me love it more. One of the things I like best about all Will Wight’s books is that I can read them and so can my kids and we both enjoy them immensely. Keep up the good work!

Best adventure yet

Lindon (main character) stumbles into something big (can’t say more without spoilers) and for the first time in the series he is on his own and has to chart his own course to survive. And he does more than survive. Loved this one!

If you like these kinds of books...

...then you'll know they can be - but are not always - enjoyable but predictable. (t's riddled with spelling, grammar and punctuation issues.) The 3-stars is only because I enjoy the genre; otherwise, it would be 2 stars.

Truegold

Excellent word building, superb character development and a vast array of magical techniques, along with an engaging plot really drive this series forward. It is greater than the sum of its parts. I've devoured the first five books and am eagerly anticipating the next book.

Entertaining addition to a great series.

Well the release of this book cought me by surprise. But I can tell you that I'm am very happy that I came across it. It was very easy to ready and finished too quickly. The only downside was how it affected my life, I spent most of my time when not reading it, wishing I was. Quite distracting. I loved the bits at the end too. Need more of those.

Probably my new favorite in the series

Will Wight follows a semi-lackluster Skysworn with a fantastic Ghostwater. It is probably my favorite in the series now. The new characters were great and Lindon is finally starting to feel like a boss. Good character growth for all the main characters. Eithan is one of my favorite characters and I'm excited what his plans are for the trio in the future. Can't wait for the next book!

My favorite cultivation series

I love these books. The character goes from being the weakest person in his village to what I'm sure will eventually be a Godlike figure in a steady and satisfying way. If you like zero to hero novels and cultivation this series is for you.

If you like the Cradle series, you know you'll read this.

Another excellent entry into the Cradle series. My biggest complaint: these need to be longer! The relationship between Lindon and Yerin is amazing. Their rapport feels natural. I cannot wait to see how the two will get to the Underlord level.

This one is non stop action and I gulped it in less than 24 hours

My favorite in the series, felt like power lifting a character in a rpg but in an organic way. A couple of great characters were introduced and the world building went to another level. Will is or has a good editor which is what most of self published authors are usually lacking.

Another amazing book!

Will has done it again! He never ceases to amaze me with his wonderfully sarcastic wit and the ever increasing complexity of the plot. He has placed himself in the top tier of my favorite authors (which is a very small list anyway because I am incredibly picky). If you haven't read his books, you should!

Great series just get better...

Will Wight continues to impress. The characters continue to develop, surrounded by a sense of mystery that keeps your attention. He continues to expand the size and complexity of his world while still keeping it easy to follow the story. However you must read the books in order, otherwise very little will make sense.

Good so,far

If you look at the reviews of the prior book you may question whether to keep reading. I,liked the prior book, thought it was fun and a nice read. Well the adventure continues here. The pace picks up further and we are rocketed along. Left me wanting more and it looks like we will get it.

Much better

A solidly pased addition to the series, all the characters had their own plotline. Yerin and Mercy's climax was a little weak, and Eithan's plotline goes nowhere. On the other hand, Yerin and Mercy have a fun miserable road trip, and Eithan's only around for a few chapters, so it all works out.

Another great book!

First of all that prologue tho!! Another thing was how Yerin Mercy and Lindon faced death so many times and lived. Also, I felt like there were actual stakes this time after the Skysworn died. Lindon advanced so much this book and finally Yerin did too. I also feel that Yerin and Mercy bonded as they fought so that's pretty cool. This book was great overall.

Yet another enjoyable installment of the Cradle series.

I don't have all that much to say apart from expressing happiness for this installment finally being released and for it keeping the same excellent style as the previous volumes. The world building is quite interesting, the political intrigue in the background engaging and the characters themselves relatable as well as sufficiently shallow so as to make the reading fairly light. I will hold my thumbs for another volume in a relatively near future.

LOVE these freaking books

Alright Will Wight you have me hooked. These books ROCK. I hope you write 50 in this series. Keep them coming and I'll keep eating them up. Super fast paced and easy to keep up with, even with everything going on. There is no down time in this series, no chapters to skip or pages to skim. Very very fun and cool books.

Path to advancement lies through... Ghostwater!

So, Lindon is screwed sideways. He is alone, opposition is overwhelming... In the other words, nothing changed. Will he fall, or will he brave sinister... Ghostwater?

Ghostwater

If you don’t buy this book, you’re an idiot. If you read this book before the other four books in the series, then you’re also an idiot. This book(and series) is amazing. And I’m not just some guy. If this book were turned into a song, it would take the combined powers of Fergie and Jesus to bring forth this wonderful melody.

I thirst, I thirst for more

Not the best in the series, but Wight doesn't make anything that isn't solid gold. Or should I say Truegold. If you're reading this review, you already know you have to read Ghostwater. Watching Lindon evolve from determined but resigned weakling to competent badass has been a real marvel.

Another glorious victory |

Will Wight keeps taking this fantasy series to different levels. Carefully carving an elaborate mosaic that gets clearer with each piece. If the first three books were progression fantasy genius, the fourth bringing us an epic of epics, and the fifth building an Avengersesque team. Th this book takes a well deserved pause to set our heroes up for what I am sure will be a thrilling 7th book

Meh

I liked the story but the series is starting to fall into a very predictable pattern. I'll continue to read the rest of the series but it wont be a priority.

One of the best series out there

This book is amazing. If you like sci-fi, fantasy, great writing, and martial arts based in a fantastic universe with an excellent, unique, and intriguing magic system, you should read this series. Start with Unsouled.

Just keeps getting better!

Fun and fast moving with lots of room for the imagination. The scope keeps growing and the joy of watching favorite characters triumph over incredible odds makes the story hard to put down. It sticks with you long after the last page and makes you hungry for more. Write faster Will. And, keep writing well!

Might be the best in the series

Writing this on the eve of the release of the 7th book. This might be my favorite book so far. So many great moments and the introduction of a great character that will be important.

Wow

I can't even describe the sheer awesomeness of this book. This series has been great, same as any other Will Wight novel. Hands down my favorite author. I wait and wait for his novels, and then tear through them so quickly when they get released.

I got chills by the end and had to put the book down to holler in excitement

Do yourself a favor and carve out half a day to non-stop read this damn good book. Yes, it really is that good. And yes, it has everything you love about this series. And yes, somehow Will Wight has upped his ability to write even better than what we have already seen.

A Break

This book was well written and a fun one in the Cradle series, as it was a bit different than the other books, but still just as good.

Must read

Must read series. I love this author and his works. I read a lot and think that the Cradle series is becoming one of my favorite series. Up there with Wheel of Time and LoTR

Still going strong

This is an enjoyable series and just keeps getting better. I hope this series continues for a long time or has a strong finish.

This series... it's incredible

Binged the series over a couple of weeks - solid enjoyment, clever progression and a tangible sensation of real risk in every book, regardless of the challenge levels. GOOD frigging writing.

One of the best series I’ve read ⭐️

This series kept me reading through all five available books is 5 days. The first book starts slow but soon you’re stuck and won’t want to let go. I’ve read about 500 fantasy/sci-fi books in the last 5 years and this series is in my top three. The complexity and attention to details, described in a way that doesn’t take away the attention from the progression of the story, is amazing! The authors imagination and ability to share it blows my mind.

Back to being my favorite series!

I thought Book 4 was terrible and I considered never reading another one in this series. However, you made me fall in love with the series again with this one. Way to bring it back!. I really enjoyed this book. Can't wait for the next one.

Satisfaction incarnate

Fast and engrossing. It will be far too late to be reading a book but you will find yourself unable to stop. Then the end will come and your soul will crack in despair at the wait before your next fix. Hope you don't leave a remnant!

Such an amazing world!

I can't get over the world building - it's so good! I'd rank the series up there with Brent Weeks' Night Angel trilogy and David Gemmell's Drenai series.

Still short for the price

This one felt longer than the prior, but was still short for the price. However, the story was great and the addition of bloopers was enough to get it a 4 star anyway.

Still going strong

Exactly what I want from Cradle. High stakes, advancement, danger. Five books and we're still going strong, Literally the only thing missing from this book is more Yerin, but in her stead Lindon gets a chance to really test his limits. He does great with the spotlight. Keep an eye out at the end. The post credit scenes are great.

Best series ever

Well written, great magic, fun characters who evolve in unexpected ways. It is violent and life is hard, but I love it!

Another great story

The Cradle story continues and Will Wights fun voice delivers. From everyone’s favorite dragon turtle to fun riverseeds, the story continues with his unique and enjoyable voice. Read the other books first, but buy this right away if you have. Enjoy

Gratitude.

I'm sure no one is reading the review for this book since it's the fifth one but whatever, I'm reviewing it anyway. It was great, the end. Haha. If you've made it this far, then you know how great they are. If not, then go get the first book and start reading.

The Usual Another Excellent Book In The Series.

What is there to say, the Cradle series is excellent, from book one to book 5 so far. This is a story worth reading I highly recommend reading this series. The author Will Wight is in the midst of creating a masterpiece.

Love this series!

Oh man... A pocketworld! A drop of ghostwater...Othos, Dross, Harmony. I think this is my new favorite so far.

Get on with it!

I appreciate the whole nascent hero wandering the world under the guidance of a rather quirky character, but get on with it. The story of Lindon and his growth as a character is lost in the seemingly endless explanations of madra, who's got it, how you get it, who's getting stronger, how it works, blah blah blah blah blah. The most interesting character in the books so far....Dross.

Skysworn got you down? Let Ghostwater pick you up again!

Easily the best one since the first one. The ramp up to new heights cannot be overstated here, and things seem genuinely dire at a number of moments, including right out the gate. No doubt if you're 4 books in this is going to be for you regardless, but if Skysworn left you feeling a little lackluster don't skip on this bad boy!

Ghostwater

Awesome. With each installment Cradle is evolving into a story I never saw coming when I picked up Unsouled.

Great addition to a great series!

This series just gets better. I thouroughly enjoyed this authors other series, but this one is a cut above. Good character development, a "magic" system that really works, funny, dramatic, exciting. These books grab you and don't let go. I am hoping that the next book "Underlord" will explain a littl more background on my fav character Eithan. Thouroughly recomend this series!!

Lot of action in this one

What the title of this review says. There was indeed a lot of action, and a lot of set up for the events of the next book or two upon the world-building that has already been established. I quite liked it. The set-up, the action, and the world/character building were woven together well and the fast pace drew me in from start to finish.

Can’t wait till the next book

I couldn’t wait to read the next book in the cradle series and went out and purchased book 4&5 so glad I did !! Great writing well crafted story and awesome characters. On my toes waiting for book 6!

Another great one

Just as good as the others in the series. I just wish they were a bit longer. That my only complaint.

Exciting read

I continue to enjoy reading about Lindon and his growth and development. I am anxious to read about how all the new characters will connect to Lindon and more importantly to the multiverse.

This is yet another amazing installment in the Cradle series

This is yet another amazing installment in the Cradle series. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of Will Wight, the Cradle Series, or you hear voices in your head, some sort of eldritch horror whispering secrets of untold riches and endless power hidden in a lost temple of gold..

Another addition to Cradle

Another great read from will wight and his cradle series, this story just hooks you and drags you in. All of a sudden you realize you are on the last page and there is no more till the next. If you haven’t already read as much of will eights books as possible they are amazing for a new turn on magic/power!!

I don't do reviews often, but this was a brilliant bit of story telling. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

and this didn't disappoint. Lindon and Yerin pushing for their advancement in ...

I just finished Ghostwater. I'm a big fan of the Cradle world, and this didn't disappoint. Lindon and Yerin pushing for their advancement in their own ways was fun to read. Dross is a very cool new character. I'm already wishing that the next book was out! Read this book, now!

Fast paced, some parts gave me a laugh

I liked the pace of the storyline. High energy and never bored. It is the best series I have read in a long time!

The story is funny.

The story is great, the main characters are pushed beyond reasonable limits and ask for more; or they are hoping not to die. There is a lot of questions which need to be answered.

Excellent Addition To The Series

The book started slow and I had to remember everything that happened in the last one, but it kicked in by the 25% mark and kept going! When's the next one Will!

Loved it!!

I really hate to see the end. Very enjoyable experience. You get sucked into an adventure that will keep you on your toes from one experience to the next. I loved every single minute and very sad to see the end. Would love 💘to see more.

Favorite of the series so far

You get to finally see the “power level” that is so prevalent in the genre. It was much needed it and perfect execution by Will Wight. Loved the book and the character growth

The best in the series... so far.

This series is utterly amazing. I'm on my ninth or tenth re-read (of the entire 7-book series) at the moment, so you might say I'm a pretty big fan. Ghostwater is the book where the series ascends from good to truly golden, imo. Get it. Read it. A dragon doesn't hesitate, after all. #TeamMuEnkai

Wight on point!

As always Wight delivers the goods! Ghostwater is an amazing addition to the Cradle universe. The characters feel more solid then ever before. And Will's unique voice is coming through loud and clear. Ghostwater declares, nay heralds, a turning point in the series and I can't wait to read the next one.

Short but good instalment in the Cradle series.

Short but good instalment in the Cradle series. Yet again a good book from Will Wight, action packed, nice development and well written as always. Perhaps a little pricey at 6,24$ compared to the length of the story, but it was worth it for me.

A good read but a bit over the top

A good read bit too much info making it unnecessary complicated

Amazing series

I've read quite a few books over the years, but this series is one of the best. Easily in my top 5 favorite series so far, and Ghostwater is my favorite book in Cradle thus far. I'm really looking forward to Underlord.

Good, but with flaws

The story is becoming fragmented . This edition seemed contrived and in my opinion did my advance the plot. The new companion adds some humorous banter

Too short

Great action, world settings and stage advancements. Too short though, leaves you hungry for more. Patiently waiting for the next book.

Great Series

A great story/series ontinues. Own and read majority of Will's Books he's one of my three favorite authors: Dan Abnett, Brandon Sanderson, Will Wight. Their works do not disappoint

Easy read. Accelerated story

This book feels like a "let's get going" chapter in the series as pretty much everyone gets accelerated to a stage which they can now go out into the wider world. Which is nice since they have been "stuck" in their little sandbox for too long

Keep them coming!

There is something spectacularly fun about reading a series where the good guy MC gets progressively more and more powerful. I’m pretty sure I pumped my first at the end with the latest development, it’s just that kind of book. Can’t wait for the next one!

Great series!

I love these books! They are so fast paced and in a way that really resonates with what Lindon is trying to achieve. Can’t wait for the 6th book to come out.

10/10 Highly recommend

Another excellent installment. The power creep in this book was much faster than in the previous volumes, as there was more traditional 'train and get stronger' wuxia themes here. Overall I liked the pacing more than the the previous books.

So satisfying

When I started reading this series, you immediately want to jump to the moment in Time this book discusses. Lindon comes into his own in this book and you can start to really see his path.

Doesn't disappoint

This series continues to hold my rapt attention! Basically couldn't put it down. Seems too short for that reason, but I'll take it every time.

Great addition! Too short though

This book was exactly what i expected, im excited to see where it goes and i cant wait for the next one!

Great book.

Love the characters, the story line, the worlds, and the sarcasm and wit. Will Wight is very good at storytelling. I highly recommend this series.

Reads fast!

This book by itself is a action packed non stop threat. Not a ton of character development but, there is some. Taken as a whole series though it fits right in. I love this series as a whole and can’t wait to see if I figured out where this is going! Which I know I haven’t. Love it, Drew

Best

One of the best in the series for me.

Great story... with bloopers at the end :)

If you've been reading so far this is a great continuation of the stories of Lindon. I really enjoyed the tail and recommend it to others.

Fast read, fun story

Really fun story, I finished this book very quickly, I enjoy it. It’s not like it’s some grand novel or something but I really enjoy reading it. It’s my guilty pleasure.

Awesome

This is another great installment and a wonderful read. I can't wait for the next amazing instalment and what it's line file Lindon and his group.

Five Stars

This is easily the best fantasy series of the past 10 years. Read it.

Awesome as ever

Has anyone figured out how to glimpse into the future for the sole purpose of finishing series yet cause I want in.

One of my favorite books

This is one of my favorite books! I’ve read it a dozen times and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Great book series

It's a shame the book wasn't longer, I hope the next book is longer. I look forward to next stage of Lindon's advancement.

My second Favorite book of this series...

Note: That it is second only to book 8, this book gave Lindon to time to explore who he was and his development without Ethan or Yarris driving him.

Fun read

One of my favorite in the series so far. Considering where the story has to go, a lot of progress had to be made real quick This story moved much more quickly than the previous book. Already looking forward to the next one!

More brilliance from Will Wight

What can i say, back to brilliance. Skysworn was a nice breather, but not quite the quality of the first three. Book five picks up the pace and quality again, and the out-takes = absolute hilarity!

A definite highlight in the series

Will Wight continues to keep the story moving and fun. I really enjoyed this latest installment and can't wait for the next.

Fun light fantasy reading

I’ve enjoyed this entire series. You could probably criticize the story progression for following some tropes, but it has interesting characters and unique magic. It’s like reading a fun anime, and I can hardly wait to see what happens next.

LOL so good

The series gets better and better. Great world building from each book. Fun characters and quirky sidekicks that make it even more fun!! Love love love it.

Great Continuation

I thought this was a great addition to the series. Seemed to move the story forward substantially especially with Lindon. The only complaint I have is about Mercy. Will did a little bit to flesh out her backstory but there is still no explanation as to why she refuses to progress. She is still a very shallow character compared to Yerin and Lindon.

Fun engaging read

I love Will Wights books. I would recommend every one of them. The cradle series is a fantasy using hierarchical society and a shinto styled power structure that is just amazing to explore. Plus lots of trainning scenes and thise are ny favorite. Thanks Will keep up the good work!

Glorious

Gloriously awesome. This is my favorite Cradle book yet. I highly recommend the series, and everything else Will Wight writes.

Fantastic & Action packed

Great continuation to this saga, quick read and never a full moment. I can't wait for the next installment. Thumbs up!

Better than Skysworn

Another great installment in the Cradle series. In my opinion a step up from Skysworn as Lindon is again back to training and advancing. Based on the ending it looks like the next book is going to be a blast! I can't wait.

Phenomenal development

The writing keeps improving along with the plotline. Many series lose relevance over time as the author struggles to find direction for plots and character growth, but this series does the opposite. I'll be devouring every book Wight releases as they come out.

Excellent, but I wish it was longer

I was a little worried after the last book because I felt like there was little progress. This book more than makes up for any worries i had. I just wish these books were a little longer.

This was the most satisfying book in a great series.

Great pacing, well written action and a greater sense of peril than the first 4 books. I was worried the series might be fizzling out after a meh book 4 but Ghostwater delivered. I’ve already read it twice.

If you made it this far, you already know this book will be awesome

This was another great chapter in the series. I can't wait for the next one.

Back in the saddle, boys.

Great new chapter in the western xanthia inspired tale of Wei Shi Lindon and the gang. And four more words.

Couldn't put it down

After every book I find myself more and more engrossed in this fantasy world and the only part I find unpleasant is having to wait till the next book is released. Will Wight has become my favorite author period. Keep it up Will and please dont stop writing!

Five Stars

Great series of books

Great fun read.

Thanks Mr. Wright, another great book! I read it in 3 days. So fast, keep up the amazing work. Youre the best!

By far my favorite series right now, and Ghostwater did not dissapoint. I'm looking forward to the next entry; hopefully he keeps up the pace on releases.

good book

good book

Wow

This is the book where Will Wight really comes into his own. As great as the first four books were. This one takes a major step forward in terms of quality and pacing.

best book yet

Loved the latest addition. Full of action. More information and the storyline is really starting to flesh out. Will continues to impress with his speed and quality.

The best so far

This book is fantastic and a worthy addition to the cradle series. It is my favorite so far with black flame a close second. Can’t wait for the next one!

I need more.

As in, the next book already. I tore through the series to date in a little over a week, and my bathroom breaks got unusually long. No long boring and unnecessary exposition, just a damn good action and adventure story.

I am hooked on all of his books.

I am hooked on all of his books.

Read the bloopers

Great story, one of my favorite series ever. At the end of this book WW made a blooper reel and it is hilarious.

Outstanding

This book is well written and characterised with a strong plot. The only thing I don't like is that I have to wait for the next book in the series!!!

One of the best fantasy books I've ever read.

Book 5 of Cradle is one of the best books of the series as well as one of the best fantasy books I've ever read. A triple A all around. This books comes highly recommended. I wish the entire series can hard bound

Fun, engaging, excellent. Best in series so far!

I love this author's superbly entertaining characters and fascinating worlds. This series is extremely enjoyable. There were plenty of surprises throughout this book, and Will Wight's hilarious comic relief is always a joy to read.

Awesome!!

Will is the man! Such a unique and original writer. This one kept me up late. So it goes without saying that I'm ticked I have to wait for the next installment of Cradle. But it will be worth the wait. So good!!

Five Stars

A good installment into the series, if you've liked the previous entries this one won't disappoint

As good as Blackflame

What a great read! The story is wonderful. The characters are compelling. And the side characters are master class. Wight is an artist when creating great side characters to bring the laughs.

5 stars!

Another great addition - not a ton of plot but great story and action

By far the best book in the series in my opinion

By far the best book in the series in my opinion, a quicker power level which goes with the idea of the wuxia style novels while still showing more information of the world, politics and the people.

Wowsers

Simply incredible! This story just keeps getting better and better with each book. I can't wait to get my hands (virtual hands) on the next one!

Keep’em coming...

If Will keeps writing them, I’ll keep buying them. Can’t get enough of this story. Such an interesting and unique world.

Solid addition to the series

Solid writing from Will Wight, as always. I had a difficult time putting it down. Still, it felt quite formulaic, harkening a bit too closely to the Xianxia roots of the series. I hope the next book surprises me a little bit more.

Awesome power up novel

A wonderful episode advancing our main character. I loved the new characters added and the interactions. Read it in one shot, cant wait for the next one!

Good read.

Love this book series.

Loved every minute of it!

Another page-turner from Will Wight. Love this series. Can’t wait till the next one. It won’t be soon enough!

On Point

If you've read the series up to this point you won't be disappointed, stacks up well with the previous iterations.

Never Gets Old!!!!!

5 Books in and I cant stop!!!!

These books are the greatest!

Every book in this series gets a 5 star rating! I can't put them down. This is what fantasy should be! Can't wait for the next book. Well done.

To much fun.

All the awesomeness & "OP-ness" I've been hoping for. Love this series. Can not wait to see where it goes.

Lindon finally leavea behind the baggage of the disability he has overcome.

I really enjoyed this story of the continuing quest of Wei Shi Lindon to become so powerful in the sacred arts that he can defeat a Dread God to save his home from its fated destruction.

Is it too early to demand the next one?

It's about time that Lindon gets to be Awesome.

Five Stars

Another excellent installment in this series!

Great

It has me excited to see where the rest of this saga goes.

Read it!

Great series! Well written, engaging, and fun reads! Can't put the books down once I've started reading them. Highly recommended!

Awesome

Just read all the books in one sitting. You'll be fine... Probably. Well, you'll want to because there addictive as well as amazing, but I bet you can't... unless you're high. Drugs are bad. Probably.

He’s done it again

Will wight is one of my favorite authors. His fight scenes put me in mind of anime fights which right up my alley. The character growth is well done and the characters introduced to us all feel like they have their own background and personality. Personally Ziel is my favorite. Anyway, it’s a great addition. Please buy it.

Five Stars

Excellent book, possibly the best in the serie.

This should be an MMORPG game base...

Ermagerd. Ermaferkerger. I know this just came out and all but.. WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE OUT??! I am -so- hooked on this series!!

Can’t wait for next book

Finished the book . Wasn’t able to keep it down. I test resting battles. Hope the next book delivers the same level of excitement.

A great addition to the story

A great addition to the story. You see Lindon's character developing and growing. I'm looking forward to the next book.

nice continuation of the series

solid continuation of the series. Highly recommended for anyone who has read the first four novels.

Poor backpack

In which our character advances from below average to pretty powerful. And he gets cool things.

The characters split up, three stories in one

I love this series and style. He can't write them fast enough

Just great!

This book, I read 4 times. It is that good. New details and connections with each pass. Not a surprise by now that the books just keep getting better!

Such an awesome addition to the series!

What's not to like about Ghostwater? Loved seeing Lindons development, new characters... can't wait for the next book in the series!!!

Great book

Great read. Returning to the brilliance of the first 3 volumes. Great to see the mc survive by himself and skill up with true heroics not his usual style

Wow!

Will Wight has written another masterpiece. So much growth in this book, and i cant wait for the next one!

Another gem from Will.

Just so good. Worth a couple re-reads. Underlord can’t come soon enough. 8 more words required to post so here they are.

Extremely satisfying

I loved this book. I loved the growth of the characters, how much more natural they felt, and the payoff. Can't wait for the next book

Unbelievably exciting!

Will Wight is a treasure and must be protected at all costs! Cant wait for the next book in the Cradle series, Underlord, to be released!

No surprise it's amazing!

I've really enjoyed this series since the beginning. I loved House of Blades and like the Cradle series even more. Highly recommended it for any reader!

Good pacing, and a return to form after Skysworn

Good pacing, and a return to form after Skysworn. My only complaint would be that it feels a bit short, but it comes to a satisfying conclusion

Best book

Best book of the series. Even after reading Uncrowned Ghostwater tops it all. For a Lindon progress book you can’t ask for much else.
