Are you an overthinker? You're not alone! In a world full of deadlines, and technology, and constant stress, anxiety sometimes feels inevitable. But what if you learned to ride the wave of anxiety, instead of getting lost in it? Get Out of My Head is here to help, providing guidance and inspiration for anxious overthinkers of all sorts. This compact, illustrated book offers soothing techniques for understanding anxiety and moving through the traps of overthinking. Aimed at a modern audience looking for support and community, this beautifully illustrated guide offers a joyful, manageable way to deal with anxiety and quiet stressful thoughts through easy exercises, bite-sized takeaways, and calming visuals.
Written by Meredith Arthur, founder of the popular mental health platform Beautiful Voyager, and illustrated by Leah Rosenberg, this charming alternative to technical mental health guides walks readers through the process of building awareness around anxiety, identifying triggers, moving through blocks, building healthy boundaries, and developing an arsenal of tools for thriving. With actionable tips throughout, and a special section on dealing with end-of-year anxieties, this striking volume also includes a small, saddle-stitched secondary book -- meant to act like a weighted blanket in book form for help on the go -- in a concealed internal pocket.

Left me feeling inspired and introspective
I loved this little read. I never considered myself to be an anxious person, but I do struggle with other stressors like overanalyzing, people pleasing, and comparing myself to others. What's so great about this book is that it's really a thought starter; it's not meant to solve all your problems. Rather, it equips you with a set of tools and tips to try so you can see what works for you in your everyday life. The author (wisely) designed this guide to be small, to not overwhelm an already busy mind, to fit right in your palm, so you can keep it handy wherever your find yourself "in your head." When it arrived, I ripped open the package and began to browse the beautiful pages, but an hour later, I found I'd read it front to back. It's an easy and engaging read, filled with relevant real-life examples and just enough science to back it up--perfect to get the juices flowing and get you on your way to getting out of your way. Highly recommend!
Brilliant and beautiful bedside guide for anxious overthinkers
I love this beautiful book. GET OUT OF MY HEAD is an elegant guide to coping with daily overthinking and anxiety. Since putting into practice some of these concepts (I'll never stop hearing "ride the wave"), I have found coping with situations large (the pandemic), medium (homeschooling during the pandemic) and small (coping with ongoing job stressors) much more manageable. Meredith has helped me understand my brain, nervous system and natural wiring better and has given me wonderful tools -- right at my bedside -- to stay compassionate towards myself and, perhaps more importantly, empowered. Note that this has also helped me manage my overthinking child. Meredith and Leah, it's time for a children's book!
Part self-help, part-story, part-art therapy.
This book is soothing and practical. It's not just a random self-help book, but a collection of tested ideas and anecdotes for how to manage anxious thoughts. The tips and pictures can help guide whether you have a diagnosed anxiety condition or just experience anxiousness now and then (which we all do). I found this book soothing and practical. Start with the epilogue to understand the genesis behind the book. I especially appreciated the insights around: "You gotta be gawky to get graceful"--so often we don't talk about important issues because we don't have the words for it. Start somewhere! Also, "Be a red dot."--be in relationships and places that bring you energy so that you can bring others energy.
OUTSTANDING!!
I wish this book had been available earlier in my life. Judgments from others throughout my life led me to overthink almost EVERYTHING I did! This toolkit will serve me well going forward for sure!
Great read!
Nice book that isn’t too lengthy. It has some interesting topic points that can be useful! I don’t necessarily have anxiety, but I am an over thinker. This book has some great tools that I have found to be effective already!
Not worth the price tag
The artwork that contributed to the cost of this book really doesn't work with a Kindle. I read it in less than an hour. There are many more helpful resources than this for me like free u tube videos on meditation. I really wish I would have gotten more out of it.
More relevant now than ever.
I’ve been a follower of the Beautiful Voyager online community for years, so it’s wonderful to see the best ideas come to print. In today’s hectic world, everyone can relate to the challenges of anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, and other stresses of daily life. This book is brilliantly designed with masterful writing that could only come from the author’s deeply personal, introspective experience.
Solid resource for managing an overthinking mind
Good resource that takes a non-prescriptive approach. The writing is pithy and relatable. The author explains the basics, allowing the reader to explore and research specific topics and ideas more deeply on their own.
Relax and Enjoy
Great read! Easy and timely. Very encouraging and beautiful little book!
Helpful, quick read
I read this whole book in a day, as it's short and broken up into small chunks. I read it about a month ago, and I still find myself thinking back to some of the helpful tips. It's a great gift for anyone who tends to think a lot about the "what ifs" of the world, which in 2020 is probably almost everyone.
