Simple Words Books help struggling readers to become better readers, without tears. Our decodable books support improving their reading fluency, comprehension and confidence. In our books, we use decodable, high frequency and basic sight words that early or struggling readers can easily decode. Our short sentences and paragraphs make it easier for our readers to flow through the chapters.
Fox Hunt has 12 chapters and over 5000 words.
The entire word list and word frequency are included in the book and on our website (simplewordsbooks.com). We recommend the use of this list as a tool to determine the reading level match and pre-practice with the reader to improve fluency.

1st Chapter Book She Read!
Our 9 year old daughter has dyslexia and struggles with reading. It took a couple of days, but she read this entire book by herself. She was so proud! We quickly bought the next book and she loved it just as much. We were all set to purchase the entire collection of books when we saw Simple Words was having a kickstarter for another book. We pledged enough to get 8 books. If the kickstarter falls through we'll just order the rest of the books here as we're going to get them one way or another. She's only read two of their books so far, but I can recommend them enough!
This book is a life changing experience!
My daughter is in fourth grade and has dyslexia. Her reading level is limited and we are often stuck reading short books that she feels are babyish and that she’s embarrassed to bring to class and don’t hold her attention. This book was a miracle! For the first time ever, she began reading a chapter book that used language she could decode. She read out loud proudly for twenty minutes straight for the first time in her life without any assistance. Her self esteem soared and she loves being able to read without help from me or a teacher. Her little brother also loves reading this book and I would highly recommended it!
Two different fonts
Love love love these books. One of them is easy for my daughter to decode and read. However, they advertise “dyslexic font” and 2 of the 3 we have are regular font. Only one is a “dyslexic” font.
Great for dyslexia
I bought these for my dyslexic daughter. She was really struggling with feeling confident reading chapter books. She would ask me about lots of words and still preferred mexreading out loud to her, which I was more than happy to do. However, I wanted her to have the joy of reading, even when I couldn't be there. I got these books and she really took off in confidence and ability. After reading a few by this author, she branched out to many more, although we still love our read-aloud time.
Great for dyslexic readers

Good for older readers
Really interesting story despite controlled vocab
Perfect to build confidence in struggling readers
My 5th grade daughter with profound dyslexia was thrilled that she could finally read a chapter book all by herself. The plot is engaging enough that the story does not seem babyish. We're about to buy another Simple Words book for our nightly read aloud practice.
Recommend
This is a great book for anyone wanting to practice their reading skills in a fully decodable chapter book. Complements structured, explicit, phonics reading instruction.
