'For Cluck's Sake!: An "Egg"cellent Collection of Chicken Lore, Chicken Facts, Chicken Trivia, Chicken Love' by Stacia Tolman is a fun collection of facts about chickens. The book has some featured breeds of chickens with full color photos. There are stories about where chicken recipes came from. There are facts about egg grading and size. There are tons of facts about chickens. My favorite might have been all the quotes about chickens. Some of these mention chickens. Others replace words like friends for the word chickens. I had a fun time reading this book and learning about chickens. It's not a serious book at all, but had lots of interesting things to learn. I received a review copy of this ebook from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Probably not everything you ever wanted to know about chickens, but close. It starts with a funny intro where the author gives her chicken résumé, as it were. The first photo shows an angry-looking hen, staring at the camera like it’s spoiling for a fight; actually pretty scary. The second photo shows two chickens next to each other, and the pattern in their feathers is quite mesmerizing. The third photo is of a bird with feathers on its legs; it just looks. . . wrong. But you get the gist. A pea comb is mentioned, but not explained. Amid all the facts there are quotes that are not about the feathered fowl, but the main noun has been changed to chicken, which more often than not fails. Thankfully the fun facts are indeed fun. Chicks come out born ready, so to speak. The egg did come first. Chickens are smarter than four-year-old humans when thinking long-term. There’s a literal pecking order; doesn’t say if this is where the phrase originated, but it figures to be. Plenty of fun or funny stuff, but some uninteresting ones as well. 3.5 pushed up to 4/5

I loved this book. It had the prettiest pictures of chickens, yes I said it, chickens! I lived in Arkansas for three years and had a variety of animals, some were weird looking chickens my mother ordered. I loved their strange looks and personalities. 50 acres for them to play on. This book gave a lot of trivia and facts that were quite interesting. Egg, chicken, and more facts and humor. You could tell whoever wrote this book loved animals. I feel I am smarter now than I started the book! A fun book for any animal lover.

How adorable! I must say at the start, this is not a book from which to learn chicken breeding, chick raising, or care. Rather, it is full of chicken trivia and history, accompanied by art and photography. Anyone who is fascinated by chickens, or who is only chicken-curious, will enjoy the read. This would definitely make a great gift for the chicken lover in your life.

I read a review of this book on Facebook so when I saw it in my request choices, I had to check it out! I have a cousin who is into all things chicken. I'm buying this for her Christmas stocking. Everyone needs a few smiles a day, this book supplies them.

I found this book when looking for a birthday present for my brother who keeps chickens. I think/know he will love it!! I do!!

I thought this was going to be a fun book about chickens and did not expect to find recipes to cook them!!
