Illus. in full color. The 15th century comes alive in this splendidly original picture book about Christopher Columbus. "The illustrations, executed in a variety of media, show scenes from the explorer's life as well as some imaginary creatures that populated the Europeans' picture of the outside world at that time. The details on each page invite individual readers to pay close attention, but the brief, clear text and framed illustrations lend themselves equally well to group sharing. Make room on your crowded Columbus shelf for this one."--(starred) School Library Journal.

Great for a 5 year old

I had my hesitations buying this book because I couldn't look inside and I was worried that it would be too complex for my 5 year old. It is very simple to read ~ not too many words on each page but lots of cool and beautiful illustrations that explain the story well. I was looking for something to explain the meaning of Colubus Day and who Columbus was and this is an excellent book for that. It takes you through his childhood up until after he finds new land. We are very happy with this book.

A nice introductory book about Christopher Columbus and the struggles he endured to fulfill his dreams of exploration. Follow the Dream is written with an easy to follow narrative and detailed illustrations that readers will enjoy getting lost in. I really liked learning about Columbus’s fears of a mutinous crew and his false doctoring of distance traveled to calm the anxious ship hands.

Bewitching storybook of Christopher Columbus

Everyone, ages 3 to dead, will be swept away by the amazing illustrations in this brief but powerful book about Columbus. The illustrations knock my socks off. This book is a treasure.

Great, informative book for younger kids

Engaging, artful pictures, true-to-history text, fun for my kindergartener to read and understand. Highly recommend for youngers and lower elementary.

Brings it alive

This books is excellent because it brings alive the pictures that the students have only imagined in their minds. The art is beautiful and eventhough there is not much print, the pictures speak for themselves.

Gift

Gift - so I don't know

This book has soul

I love children’s books with powerful ideas behind them. This is a story of grit and perseverance. The great achievers of our world have heard to many times the word “No” or “this is not a good idea” but they keep coming back...

Christopher Columbus is a hero

Christopher Columbus is a hero, explored and discovered an area that no one dare to discover.

Beautiful Rendition

I loved that this story started off by telling about Christopher Colombus as a boy and about how he got the funding for his trip. I wish it had explained a little more about the geography and why it was such a crazy idea, but I was able to talk through it with my two girls (age 4 and 6). This was a really nice introduction to early American History.

Perfect for Christmas!

This book is absolutely perfect for young children! So glad I ordered more than one copy to give at Christmas time!

Breathtaking illustrations!

Beautiful illustrations! A perfect intro to Columbus for kindergarteners or earlier. The authors note at the beginning made the book especially meaningful.

Beautiful

The pictures in this story are stunning! I have over 700 children's books and this is one of the best illustrated. The story was good too. It told the life of Columbus in an understandable way for my kindergarten class.

Great Intro to Columbus

This book is a wonderful intro to Columbus. It's abundance of beautiful color pictures in an "old" style are accompanied in a simple but informative text. This is a great story to read to a 4 or 5 year old. What a great way to make this story attractive and retainable to a young child.

Great book!

Another wonderful book by Sis. The illustrations are awesome. There is not a lot of text, so a beginning reader can easily read it.

Five Stars

Good for a thematic unit.

Inaccurate History

If a student wants to study about Christopher Columbus we would not recommend this book because this book does not tell the true story of Christopher Columbus and says nothing about the native americans. It`s a good story but it doesn't tell the true story about Christoper Columbus ,and how he cut off the hands for not finding enough gold for himself. The viewpoint is Columbus was good because in mostly all the pages are Columbus except one page. (By a fourth/fifth grade class in CA)
