Flash Cards: Sight Words

My 92 year old Mom has dementia. I am doing whatever I can to help her brain stay active. I purchased two sets of these I will lay down a word from my stack and ask her to find the matching word in her stack. She is engaged and all smiles as she gets the matches right. The second thing I do with her is like down four or five words on the table and ask her to construct a simple sentence. I watch as she thinks about it then puts the words in order to make a sentence. Our visits are more productive and she gets to exercise her brain. I wish maufacturers would actually develop more tools that I could use with her as she battled this insidious illness that is touching so many of the elderly.

I gave 4 stars because I feel the quality of the card is not up to par for what I think the standard in flash card strength should be. These cards are a bit flimsy, not thick, pretty thin compared to other flash cards I just purchased, so I’m a lil disappointed. Not sure how they will hold up seeing as how they are really thin and bend very easily. The colors and words are awesome, easy to read, good size' easy to hold onto. There are sight words on both sides of each card. One side is laminated and the other is not.

I purchased two sets of these I will lay down a word from my stack and ask her to find the matching word in her stack. She is engaged and all smiles as she gets the matches right. The second thing I do with her is like down four or five words on the table and ask her to construct a simple sentence. I watch as she thinks about it then puts the words in order to make a sentence. Our visits are more productive and she gets to exercise her brain. I wish maufacturers would actually develop more tools that I could use with her as she battled this insidious illness that is touching so many of the elderly.

Great for my sons Age

As I'm reading the reviews for these cards I'm realizing that the pictures being posted are the incorrect cards for this product. I purchase these cards and these are the actual cards. With that being said I used these cards with my 2 year old and since she has phonics already she actually tries to sound the word out when I show them to her. She can enunciate these words very well.

Perfect for getting your child to recognize words and spell worthy the buy

I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old. These are the same type of sight words that the school use to send home for my older boy when they were teaching him how to read. They do work with patience and repetition. Choose 5-6 sight words and work on them everyday (5-10 minutes) for a week and then only change the ones you feel your child has mastered, keeping the ones they still need more work on, and repeat for another week.

We boght these flash cards and are very happy with the thickness of the paper, readability, etc. Half of the words are on the back of the cards which is not shiny and not coloured. There is no explanation for this. However, nowhere in the description does it say that these cards are based on the FRY list of words, not the Dolch list. Since our son's school is working based on the Dolch list, there are several gaps as there are differences between the two lists. So minus two stars: One for the mono-colored back sides, and one for the lack in clear description on the website.

Happy 😊 These will help my son catch-up. Double sided cards 50 in all, so 100 words in all. I put them in a pocket chart (perfect fit) which i ordered from Amazon aswell. Take a look in my reviews, you should find it there. THANX

When public kindergarden failed my daughter we only had the span of the summer to get her private school ready, the catch? She had to have at least a good number of sight words down... or they suggested kindergarden again.. these flashcards over the span of the summer the cards put her ahead of some of the kids in her new grade one class

I LOVE the vibrant colours and BIG letter print of these Scholastic Sight Words [Flash Cards]. There are a total of 54 Sight Word cards. On each card there is a Sight Word on the Front and Back. The Word cards that have a Purple and Blue border can be used to play additional FUN and Creative Literacy Games (such as...Say it with a Silly Voice & Loud or Soft). Included in the Sight Words card deck are Educational Tips/Steps on ways to introduce and present each Sight Word to Students Ages 4 and up. These Sight Word cards can be used for Whole Group Instruction, One-to-One Instruction and even for Literacy Centers.

Nice cards but I wish they were not double sided with different words on each side. Many cards have beginner words on one side but advanced words on the flip side. For this reason I only give 3 stars and will purchase new cards that have only one word per card.

There is good collection of commonly used words and ideal for 4-6 years old for them to teach new words.

These are a great size. The words are clear. I don’t like that they are double sided. Two words on one card. I wanted them to put up in the house for my son the practice. I ended up having to buy two sets. I also don’t like that one side of each card is colourful, red, green, yellow and purple. The other is always blue.

My son loves sight words. He has learnt all of them and has infact started reading story books. They are also called dolch wordsand they help in forming sentences.

I plan to use this with my baby as soon as possible. I know these will be a great start for her. However I think this pack could be much more comprehensive than it is. For this reason I would not recommend this product.

With COVID, and cutting this school year Short.. this made it easier for me to get my little one caught up.

My 92 year old Mom has dementia. I am doing whatever I can to help her brain stay active. I purchased two sets of these I will lay down a word from my stack and ask her to find the matching word in her stack. She is engaged and all smiles as she gets the matches right. The second thing I do with her is like down four or five words on the table and ask her to construct a simple sentence. I watch as she thinks about it then puts the words in order to make a sentence. Our visits are more productive and she gets to exercise her brain. I wish maufacturers would actually develop more tools that I could use with her as she battled this insidious illness that is touching so many of the elderly.

These cards are a bit flimsy, not thick, pretty thin compared to other flash cards I just purchased, so I’m a lil disappointed. Not sure how they will hold up seeing as how they are really thin and bend very easily. The colors and words are awesome, easy to read, good size' easy to hold onto. There are sight words on both sides of each card. One side is laminated and the other is not.

Not happy with this set of cards. There are different words on each side of the cards.
