Truly lovely tribute!

I have to admit that I've never been a fan of the Bush family politically, but as a Texan, I readily acknowledge that there's much to like and even admire about them personally. So I was curious about this memoir, of sorts, written by George W Bush's daughter, Jenna. Now married & with children of her own, she writes to remember and to share her memories of both her paternal and maternal grandparents with family, friends, and especially with her little ones. Happily, with their encouragement, she has chosen to share them with us as well. As a collection of essays, anecdotes, letters & pictures - it's almost like a virtual scrapbook. It's inspiring, & with the advantages of digital technology available to us now, our own family has even begun discussing putting together something similar for our parents. I expected the book to be heart-warming, but honestly found it far more touching than I had anticipated. George Sr's love letters to Barbara were so incredibly sweet. As were the family traditions & bonding moments like going fishing & walking to the gate. And Jenna's letter to her Ganny on her first birthday in heaven is so poignant - though my favorite part is when Jenna's little girl runs outside & tells the sky with arms outstretched "Happy birthday, Ganny. I love you"! This is a wonderful book! I'm really grateful to Jenna for sharing her family's precious memories with us!

5 Stars!

I'm not crying, you're crying!!!! OMG! What a glorious, feel good read about a beautiful family that is living a beautiful life. I devoured this book in one sitting, I was so engrossed with Jenna's beautiful words. She makes you feel like you're a part of the family. I just feel so light and happy right now....I want to go spin around in a field of flowers, but first, I need to order Jenna's other books. A special thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins Publishers, and Jenna Bush Hager.

This book is what is needed in this challenging time.

Last night I decided I would read one chapter a night of Jenna's beautiful book so that I could make the book last longer. Well at 1:50 am I forced myself to close the book and go to bed. It is so comforting, enlightening and a reminder of the life affirming value of civility. The book took me back to the wonders of my childhood. I am most grateful for this perfectly written treasure of a book.

Multigenerational Love!

What a lovely and heartfelt book. I feel like I’m reading a note from a family member. I cry like I personally know you and your family. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings and experiences on motherhood and maternal love through the generations. This book is funny (and touching) and reminds me of young kids at home and the love my grandparents had for me. I haven’t had this many multigenerational thoughts in years. Thank you for reminding me of compassion and love and humility and kindness Jenna!

Very much like her book Sisters First

Having just finished reading Jenna's book, Sisters First, I expected that Everything Beautiful in Its Time would add to that book. However, to me it seemed that most of Everything Beautiful is already in Sisters First and didn't add much. I do like Jenna's enthusiastic, candid style of writing, though and hope she continues that. Last year, I enjoyed reading Matriarch by Susan Page, which was a well-written, comprehensive biography of her grandmother, Barbara Bush, and is available here on Amazon.com. Just started the autobiography, Spoken from the Heart, by Jenna's mother, Laura, which is covering her side of the family more in-depth. Looks like I'm a fan of the Bushes but I really like to read about women, their families, and how they live their lives in their times.

Full of Tears & Laughter

A love letter to and about Jenna's family. All of these people have had a part in making her the strong woman she is today. I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. It can't be easy being born into a family that is always being watched.

Good read

I enjoyed this glimpse into the life of an american family from a granddaughter's perspective. Wise words shared in an entertaining way.

A must read

I cried and laughed throughout this book. Beautiful, inspiring and reflective. Whether one agrees with the Bush family politics or not, this is beautifully written and a must read. Helps one put their own family in perspective.

Poignant and Profound, This Is a Heartwarming Book to Read. But Beware! It Will Make You Cry

This absolutely delightful and deeply heartwarming book is difficult to read—for one reason only. Almost every chapter made me cry. And it's hard to read with tears pooling in my eyes and running down my cheeks! Have the tissues ready. Beautifully written by Jenna Bush Hager, this inspirational book focuses mostly on the wisdom she and her twin sister, Barbara, received from their four grandparents, along with lots of memories of her childhood and sage advice for busy mothers. And I'm not the only one crying! Jenna herself does it so frequently, there is even a chapter titled "Times I Have Cried (a Partial List)," and I think almost every woman can relate to it. Poignant and profound, this is a wonderful book to read and share with those you love.

Well written loving tribute!

I have never read a book by Jenna Bush Hager but this book is a loving tribute to her grandparents on both sides of her family. I cried many times while reading it. We all thought we knew the Bush family, and I always respected the presidents and their wives, but this really gives insight to the wonderful people they were and how they shaped the lives of the children. The grandparents on both sides helped create a loving family. To have your whole life so public must be very hard and especially while grieving. This book is so worth reading and I'm so very glad I bought it.

I love this book! It is just one of those books that I savor. I read slowly and put it down so I have it for the next morning! Jenna Bush Hager is a talented writer, I love how she writes so honestly and her sense of humor is so lovable. I've always admired her parents and can see how she was raised to be a delight! Thank you for this book! I don't want it to end! I recommend it to each of my granddaughters!

An ego trip, plain and simple

Believe me when I say that I have been a fan of the Bush family for decades. That began to wane over the past several years when it became obvious that Jenna Bush Hager was in over her head as the co-host of the fourth hour of the Today Show. While many others let it be known on social media that they thought Jenna had landed the job simply because of her name, I defended her, certain that over time, she would improve. Finally, though, I could stand it no longer as she continued to make (and be excused for) on-air misstep after misstep. Her butchering of the English language, including simple grammar, mispronunciation of common words, and complete unfamiliarity with guests' names (most recently, "Eena Garden"--the Barefoot Contessa) brought my admiration to a screeching halt. To think that she was supposedly a teacher borders on horrifying. Ad nauseam, this book was promoted by ALL hours of the Today Show and elsewhere, as an ode to Jenna's grandparents, supposedly highlighting for would-be readers the elder Bushes' "lessons in life", so to speak. Unfortunately, there are precious few direct, meaningful references to those lessons--or even to George and Barbara Bush themselves. Instead, the focus is on Jenna and Barbara--their childhood, marriages, children--with no relevance whatsoever to their grandparents. 99.9% of this book is comprised of stories Bush followers have heard or read many times before. George H. W. Bush was brought up by a mother who taught him not to use the word "I" so often and to make others the central part of his story. He learned that lesson well and remembered his mother's advice throughout his entire life. How sad that his granddaughter isn't following suit. In addition, Jenna's narration is dreadful. As viewers of her show witness every weekday, she is overly dramatic, craves attention, and with a voice that purposely becomes gravelly at times she deems appropriate, is often the verge of self-induced tears. She exaggerates ridiculously, something even her mother, Laura Bush, has admitted more than once when she has appeared with Jenna. No wonder Mrs. Bush stated on live TV that she is not a regular viewer of her daughter's show. Jenna's writing ability is no better than her studio demeanor. I've never been so disappointed in a book and/or audio--and yes, I purchased both, just as I did "Sisters First". I am sorry to say that there is simply no way I can recommend this title.

Bush Family

I normally only buy kindle books, but i bought the hard cover book this time. Jenna Bush Hager is an amazing, loving, thoughtful writer. I love her memories, kindness, softness and intelligence. She is so articulate. She makes you feel as if you were right next to her during her childhood and adulthood. I have twin daughters and she demonstrated her special connection with her twin. Warmed my heart. She is a great writer and so in tune with her emotions and thoughts. Loved this book about family!

Nice! Wonderful, thoughtful book.

Such a beautiful homage to really wonderful grandparents. Jenna was truly blessed to have had great, loving, warm, and tough people in her life. And I am happy that she decided to share them with the rest of us. I was fortunate to have seen Barbara Bush (First Lady) speak at Albion college ( a small liberal arts college in MI). She embodied grace, wit, intelligence, warmth, and a backbone of steel. Remarkable woman. And the other grandparents were her equal in all the things that matter to their family. She’d many a year while reading this book....all happy.

Jenna

A 5-star review for a delightful memoir from one of the daughters of George and Laura Bush. Filled with beautiful memories of both Bush presidents and their wives, Jenna Bush Hager shares wonderful memories that are guaranteed to alert one smile, laugh, and cry with her, recounting the real people both George and Barbara Bush, and later George and Laura Bush were.

Beautiful, touching book

This book truly is beautiful. I didn’t want to put it down once I started, and I cried many times throughout. Jenna is an extremely talented writer, who tells a heartfelt and touching story in a way that feels like you’re listening to deep secrets from your closest friend. I highly recommend this book. It made me feel homesick, comforted, nostalgic, and content all at the same time.

Not About Politics

I love Jenna Bush-Hager's books! I feel like many people turn away from her because of her famous dad. As a Democrat, I can tell you to put the politics aside and see them as a family. I enjoyed learning about their family structure and how they are there for each other. When you read this book you can tell it was written from the heart because she shared a lot of personal stories. Big fan! I hope she writes more books about her family.

Beautiful book

I ordered the book Everything Beautiful In Its Time: Seasons of Love and Loss by Jenna Bush Hager. The book came as described in very good condition. We had a minor problem and the seller took care of it right away. The book is so good. If you like to read about the Bush family you will love this book. I will use this seller again.

Beautiful book with lovely and amusing stories

I don't normally write reviews for books on Amazon, but this one deserves it! It also deserves your time and energy! It is a beautiful remembrance of Jenna's grandparents - all 4 of them. So well written and full of lovely reminiscing. I read it quickly but held back a bit because I didn't want it to end too soon! She lost her grandparents in a very short period of time and that is devastating. This book is an outstanding tribute to them all and to Jenna too. I look forward to her next book, whatever the topic may be!

Such a great read!

Jenna introduced her readers to the whole family. The joys of having children, frustration at remaining childless. The sorrow of losing all four grandparents in a short time. And she tells us of coping mechanisms for dealing with losing some of the people she loved best. Keep writing them, and I will keep reading them. Jenna Bush Hager can keep one turning page after page!

Beautiful book

I am so sorry because I THOUGHT THE ITEMS were not delivered but as it turned my neighbor saw them and took them inside to her apt. I thought they were missing but she had them for safekeeping. I happened to open my door as she was leaving and said, "wait, this is for you, the delivery guy was just here. I must have been in the kitchen and did not hear him. WOW! was I relieved. Sorry I called you Amazon to report them missing. I love this book.

First time I had read a book written by Jenna

Pleasantly surprised. So much love between the lines. Excellent read. Learned so much about the Bush family and their love.

Great read

Bought this as a gift, my mother-in-law said it was a wonderful read, great purchase

Great book!

I love this book! Cried(good and bad) all the way through! Love, love, love it! A must read for all.

Great story

Awesome book clearly written with love. A loving tribute to grandparents and the important role they have in a family.

Beautiful indeed

Jenna is so real and honest on her tv show and in her writing. Her description of life and her family bring a smile to my heart.

Relatable and authentic love story tribute to her grandparents

This is such a beautiful tribute to all of her grandparents. Her storytelling style is relatable and authentic.

Good reading

I very much enjoyed learning more about the behind the scenes lives of the Bush family. It was well written.

Great Book...Must Read

Very touching book, relates what a great down to earth family the Bush's were and still are. Heartwarming.

All around great book!

I'm not a reader....at all.... But I saw this book at Costco and picked it up. I had met President HW Bush and 1st lady many years ago when they returned to Houston from DC. Amazing people. I could hear their voices and see their expressions as I read. This book was great. I cried and laughed and hopefully will retain some of the wisdom. Good job, Jenna!

Interesting story

This is a touching and interesting story about a wonderful loving family. I enjoyed reading it and enjoyed the upbeat nature of the book. It was a nice break from the many historical fictions and memoirs that I typically read that involve difficult and often brutal trials that humans learn to endure.

Happy

My daughter loves the book

Great gift

Bought for my mom for her Birthday. She is loving it.

Worth every penny

This is the kind of book you have to hold yourself back from reading in one sitting because you simply enjoy every single page. Expect happy tears!

Great Book

Beautifully written and a heart warming story about the love I’ve had for their grandparents.

Beautiful

A reminder of what's important!

A great look into the Bush family and the values and love that were part of Jenna's life and the broader family! A terrific read!!

Must Read

Jenna’s book is a must read, a perfect read. It’s uplifting, poignant, and so touching. It shows the side of her family that we all suspected, but now we know.. Thank you for writing this, Jenna!

Beautiful

Oh Jenna, you put into words my love for my beloved grandparents. Thank you for sharing these precious gifts with us.

One of the best!

I could not put this book down. It is so well written and so genuine. Love, love, love it!

Love true stories

I love this book it told me a lot About the Bush family and how special and precious they all are. jenna I'm so sad for all your losses in the last year. Prayers to you and your family.

Inspirational

A uplifting and inspirational book at a divisive time in our history. Thank you for sharing your wonderful family and what exceptional leadership looks like. What a blessing!

Wonderful book!

Loved this book by Jenna Bush Hager! She does not disappoint!

Most woman will enjoy.

Loved this book.

So beautiful.

Everything In It’s Time is a memoir written about the four grandparents that Jenna had and their journey. This is not a political book, so please don’t judge that based off of who the family is. This is a story about how these grandparents truly meant so much to this child. There is an import message about how import our words are to each other and the next generation. I bought this book for my mother for her birthday. I want her to know how much grandparents mean to grandchildren. So she really sees the difference she is making in their lives. I look back and see that my grandparents were actually friends of mine, and I want the same for my children.

Loved it

such a great book! Loved every page

Rose Colored Glasses

This was our January book club pick and unfortunately for me i am painstakingly, undeniably and completely at a loss at how anyone can get a book published this easily with so little talent just because their last name is Bush It’s not that I can’t appreciate a memoir book but the chapters were too choppy and made no particular order or sense. She obviously tried to be funny but wasn’t , tried to be moving and sentimental and fell flat with absolutely no emotional response. What upset me the most and really got under my skin was how she painted her parents and grand parents as saints. Now politics and religion aside just one daughters opinion that life is not full of fluff and puppy dogs tails. If she had only been more honest, forthright and told a few stories about crying herself to sleep over a missed birthday party or how devastated she was over broken promises and no shows . I can tell you from experience there were plenty of those and much more. Unless your a huge Bush supporter and inclined to read a book through his daughters rose colored glasses I would look elsewhere!

Disappointed in condition of book when received

Not allowed to only just review, had to rate also. Giving only one star because of the condition of the book, when I received it. Rating is not because of the story and how it is written. I am disappointed that I have not been able to read this book yet. A shame, I was looking forward to it. This is Second replacement, and again, the book front cover has a noticeable scratch and sticky substance that will not come off. I am very picky about the condition of the books I have, and especially this is to be in brand new condition. I heard that Candace Owens Blackout book, had been messed with. I hope this is not the case for this one too. Returning for a refund. I will go to the a bookstore in person , so I know how the condition of the book is before I do decide to purchase.

Another good book by Jenna Bush Hager

This book felt a bit like a continuation of “Sisters first” minus her sister’s Barbara’s voice yet her sister’s presence is strongly felt. These intimate and very personal stories about the Bush family are very illuminating. It is truly nice to read about what these people are like behind there very public roles. Though I have to say the Today show Jenna is very much like the private Jenna and her authenticity is really refreshing. The book runs the risk of being saccharine and it seems like some especially Jenna are crying every other page. I will cut her slack though as the context is about the year all of her remaining grandparents passed and the birth of her son happened. A really good read for the most part.

Too much political bias.

I was hoping it was more personal accounts of the Bush family and their wonderful legacy. However, her current political bias crept in where it didn't fit. This was a political bias book, not a family story of the Bush Family legacy.

More than 5 stars

I sure needed to read this. It brought me joy and hope and filled my heart in a time when the world seems to be going down the pot. I cried happy and sad tears many times. It reminded me of memories of my grandparents and their wonderful generation and it gives me hope that there are more people in my generation (and Jenna’s- we are near the same age) that will help this country and world crawl out of the mess we’ve made. There are good people our there! Loved getting to know Jenna more! Excellent, uplifting book!!

So great…a reminiscence!!!

Her writing reminds me so much about how important family is! Unlike her, I come from a family of twelve kids and our parents instilled in us love for one another. Five of us now remain but our reunions remind me of author’s times with family in Maine. Such a lucky person with such loving parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Thanks for a wonderful book!

Touching!!!! Beautifully written!

A beautiful read! A book I will keep forever and read many, many times! Trust me .... you’ll enjoy this book. Thank you Jenna!

Wonderfully poignant

Thank you Jenna for sharing priceless memories of your family with the general public. This book serves as a compelling reminder that even if we disagree with other's political views, they are still loved by family and friends. I loved the way that this was formatted with cohesive vignettes in time. Beautifully written with so much gratitude and love.

A breath of fresh air!

This book is a wonderful reflection on a beautiful family. I have always admired them, and reading this continued to kindle that. Jenna takes the reader through the past few years as she lost three of her grandparents in less that a year. While there are moments of sadness expressed, the overall tone is one of hope and how growing up in a “public” family has so many moments of normalcy. This book is needed during this time to help all of us remember the wonderful times we have spent with our families and to cherish each and every moment. This book is certainly inspirational and will encourage you! Read it, and then pass it along to others.

Have your tissues ready

What a wonderful and beautiful tribute to the people she loves. I throughly enjoyed every moment of this book. I could hear Jenna’s voice in my head as I read. I so enjoyed getting a peak into this amazing family. The love and respect. The sorrow and happiness. Fantastic read and I highly recommend.

4 Stars

This 4 Star heartfelt memoir is a loving tribute written by Jenna Bush Hager about about her beloved grandparents. SUMMARY As a Texan, I have always followed and admired the Bush family. Occasionally, there are even Laura Bush sightings in my neighborhood. She appears from time to time at my church. And, a friend of mine actually saw her browsing the greeting card section in our neighborhood grocery store. My friend said it took everything within her to not run over to the former first lady and say, "hey girl, what's up?" Ever since I heard that, I grocery shop there every chance I get. Still no Laura sighting for me, but I'm always peeking in the card section to see if I can catch a glimpse of her. When I visited Maine, I made my husband drive us as close to the Bush compound in Kennebunkport as we could get, without ending up on an FBI watch list. I just wanted to see if I could get see their view of the ocean. I remember being indignant for Jenna and Barbara when it actually became a news story that Jenna, while a student at the University of Texas, had a drink in a bar. How did a college student drinking with her friends even make the news??? Not only do I have the Dallas connection, but the Bush family ranch is near the city where I went to college. Occasionally, when something newsworthy was happening with George W, the hotels in town would be jam packed with press and it would be impossible for visiting parents to find a hotel room. I should also mention that I live within walking distance to the George W Bush Museum on SMU campus. I have visited it several times and love the Laura Bush gown collection. Obviously, with all these "close, personal connections" to the family, I should legitimately get to be BFF's with Jenna and Barbara. Right? Well, no such luck so I'll have to settle for reading Jenna's books. Jenna fills this book with stories of her grandparents, not just the famous Bush side, but she also talks about how her mothers parents influenced her. Her stories tell of a tight knit family committed to serving others. She talks about her relationship with her parents, grandparents and her sister. She talks about her career and how she worried that people would think she only got her Today Show job because of her famous dad. She is extremely candid about motherhood, both the high and low moments. There are some very sweet moments and interesting stories. WHAT I LOVED I really loved how, although she is a very privileged person, it was clear from her book that what she truly values is quiet moments with her family. She adores her husband, children, sister, parents and grandparents. She loved growing up in a large extended family, spending summers with her cousins and started fishing just so she could have time with her father and grandfather. She seems to be able to fins beauty in the small things. What I could relate most was her struggle to maintain balance as a working mom. She tells a story of racing out of work one day because she was late meeting her daughters school bus. She was in a panic, fearing for her daughters safety and feeling like a bad mommy. That was a feeling I could completely relate to! When my son was five, I was so busy juggling work and motherhood that I missed the soccer sign up deadline. It seems small but it was a horrible oversight on my part. I was devastated because it was the most important thing to him at the time and had let him down. I actually closed my office door and cried at work because I felt like such a bad mommy! Does Jenna Bush, former first kid and current anchor of the today show, have the same problems that I do??? Amazing!! It's kind of cute how she constantly down plays her family's wealth. She made mention of a little three bedroom ranch house they had in Dallas when she and Barbara were young, but glosses over the Fact that that house waa just a starter house and that she also had access to the huge family compound in Maine and the huge ranch her parents own in Crawford, TX. Jenna is the Audible version narrator and the story sounds so natural coming directly from her. WHAT I DIDN'T LOVE Jenna is earnest. Maybe a little too much? Occasionally it sounds like she's trying to defend the privileged life she was born into. Clearly, she had no control over the circumstances of her birth and she shouldn't have to defend it, but it sounds like she's trying to prove she is just not an over privileged spoiled girl.

Absolutely Beautiful!

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud and cried so many times while reading a book. Full of beautifully written stories about one of my favorite public families, political views set aside. As Jenna says in this books, “Loving our neighbor should not be a controversial political stance.” I highly recommend to anyone who is family oriented and adores their grandparents.

Delightful and Touching Read

No matter what your politics are, you will enjoy this book. Filled with treasured memories and keen insight into the blessings of grandparents in our lives, Jenna Bush Hagar speaks to the sadness of loss and our capacity to love even after death.

A real surprise.

After reading this book I love Jenna Bush Hager. For a woman who has been given every opportunity in life she is a down to earth person. This book is about the simple things in life--which are really the greatest things in life. Have a couple tissues handy when you sit down to read this.

tribute to grandparents that is worth reading.

A moving tribute to grandparents and the reciprocal circle of love between grandchildren and grandparents . Definitely will be recommending this book to friends and relatives.

I just don't know

I've read half of it and I guess it's what I expected. Well written but very sappy. I spent the whole time crying (good cry). I was hoping for a little more of Jenna's life but she did tell us what it was about. Her grandparents. I would recommend if you like a good comfort book.

Beautiful tribute

I laughed. I cried. I fell in love with the Bush family even more in this poignant memoir and personal reflection. Probably the best book I’ve read all 2020

Hope in Loss

In this memoir sharing the love of a family is openly candid. Reminds us that kindness, duty, tradition and love are a great recipe for success in all of our endeavors. Thanks for sharing. A student of The Family.

Easy interesting book about growing up with a father and grandfather who were Presidents. A reminder to enjoy simple everyday things that many take for granted. Enjoyable reading!

Inspirational!

Absolutely loved this read. It's a page turner. I thought Jenna Bush Hager would write from a place of such privilege that it would be a redundant book. Not so, she demonstrated depth and sincerity. the only issue I had was how she called her grandparents by all the grampy/granny nicknames. This became confusing. However, i would recommend this book to anyone you care about!

Touched my heart

Loved this book! It touches on life with its everyday touching moments. It touches on losing loved ones - after just losing my mom this helped heal my heart. Jenna has a way with words that takes you right there and you feel it all. It is an easy read with short chapters. This is a must read!

I was drawn in from the beginning. Jenna is an amazing writer, from the heart. I couldn't put the book down. I laughed and cried... totally loved it..

wonderful book! It's A love letter to her three grandpArents she lost in just over a year.

A touching story and tribute from a granddaughter to her grandparents. It also touches on the changing of the guard so to speak. The child becomes an adult the Parents become Grandparents and the grandparents move from thinkers to the next. Absolutely loved it.

Very well done! Easy read with A LOT of feeling!

Jena Busch Hager you made me cry happy, sad and celebrated tears chapter after chapter. Your love, respect and admiration for your family is evident in your telling of memories and lessons learned of them.

Such a great read!!!!

I wanted to like this book...

...but I gave up on it after the chapter that she spent demeaning her husband.

Quick read

Insightful and a very quick read. Not rocket science, but then and again, it wasn't meant to be. A dedication to Jenna’s loving family: especially her four grandparents.

Very sweet stories from the heart.

It was a pleasant book to read and it is interesting to read about her family and their love and caring for each other

Love it!

Love it.

Lovely letters, and a nice escape

I received this book as a gift, and I didn’t know what to expect. It was a true delight. A compilation of letters, it was an easy read, that made me laugh, made me cry, and made me smile. Left, right, or somewhere in between, this book is not political and was an enjoyable escape.

Touching Memoir

Do you enjoy memoirs? What is your favorite memoir? I love reading memoirs and autobiographies of first ladies and presidents. I especially love reading about the first ladies and their families. I feel like you really get a different side of a president from their family. I read and enjoyed Spoken from the Heart by Laura Bush ten years ago or so. I was happy to read her daughter Jenna’s memoir Everything Beautiful in its Time. In particular, I found it interesting to read the perspective of a granddaughter and daughter of a president. Everything Beautiful in Its Time is a love letter from Jenna Bush Hager to her grandparents. She lost three of her four grandparents in a little over a year’s time. This memoir is her reflections on the lives her grandparents and the end of their lives. I found the book to be very relatable as Hager struggles to balance everything as a working mother and also work through her grief. It also gave me an inner look at the Bush family. In a time when politics has become very enflamed, it was nice to read about a family trying to do their best for each other and for their country. This was a touching story of a family filled with humor and love. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down and read through it quickly. I wanted more. I need to check out Jenna Bush Hager’s other novels. Favorite Quotes: “Loving our neighbor should not be a controversial political stance.” “It isn’t courageous to do the right things.” Overall, Everything Beautiful in Its Time is a touching book that celebrates family and what is really important in life. Book Source: A Review Copy from William Morrow. Thank-you! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A charming read that will speak to your heart

I don’t know about you, but I love a good book list. My favorite question for friends is “What are you reading?” I’ve been following the Jenna Bush Hager “Read With Jenna” monthly selections, and I like to watch her interviews with the authors she picks. Honestly, I didn’t know much about Jenna Bush Hager other than the obvious-child of 43 and grandchild of 41, but her book picks were good so I started paying more attention. She is definitely one to watch. Her most recent book, out this September, is Everything Beautiful in Its Time: Seasons of Love and Loss. Everything is a tribute to her maternal and paternal grandparents in the form of warm personal essays, written with an intimacy that is at once individual and ubiquitous, despite the famous subjects. One of my favorite parts is the letters written to and from grandparents. A handwritten letter and sometimes an email were always sent to mark a birthday or holiday, or sometimes just to say I am thinking of you and I am proud of you. Jenna writes to her grandparents after they pass away, as a way of processing her grief. Being privy to these touching exchanges shares her celebration of kindness, life lessons, family. Equally charming is the way she shares these life lessons with her own young family. Bottom line: this is a charming read from a charming story teller. If you are grieving a loss, this will speak right to your heart. If you are looking for a little inspiration, a pick-me-up, or a hopeful memoir, Everything Beautiful in Its Time is for you.

A sweet love letter

Sitting down to read "Everything Beautiful in its Time" is like sitting down with Jenna Bush Hager and having a lovely conversation about life, love and everything in between. She's as transparent in her writing as she is on the Today show, and that's a good thing as you read through her reminisces and memories. The love she has for her grandparents (all very different people) is apparent, as is the strong sense of family she obviously inherited from them and her own parents. It is the reader's great privilege to be let into this family through the book. If you're looking for a political thriller, this is not the book for you, but if you, like me, are looking for a very bright spot in an otherwise storm year, this is it.

In a Race with Megan McCain: who can say "my father" more all the way to the bank?

I really think the last thing this country needs right now is to "celebrate" the Bush years.......When you were sitting on grandpappy's lap, did he ever mention how when he was Directer of the CIA that....oh, never mind....

A Nice Collection of Memories and Letters from Jenna Bush Hagar about her grandparents

I saw this book being touted on the Today Show earlier this year. When I got the opportunity to listen to it, narrated by the author, I grabbed it. This is a book of anecdotes and reminiscences from Jenna Bush Hager's perspective. It tells stories of growing up as the granddaughter and daughter of US presidents. It also deals with a lot of issues that young girls deal with whether in the spotlight or not. She humanizes her grandparents and shares simple stories that taught her to become the person she has become today. When she reads letters that she has written to her grandparents, it felt like I was eavesdropping. I am not American and do not have a lot of preconceived notions about either of the Bushes. I do know that this was a nice book to listen to and I enjoyed hearing a bit about the family side of the George Bush Sr. The narration was well done as it felt like I was sitting and listening to Jenna Bush Hagar telling these stories. I usually enjoy when an author narrates their own work, as they add emotions and expression at all the right spots. I was gifted a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.

Everything is Beautiful...

This was such a beautiful tribute to her four grandparents! I laughed out loud and alternating to crying the ugly cry. I kept thinking that I sure hope that my granddaughters love me half as much as Jenna has loved her grandparents and it truly makes me want to have the same amount of positive influence on my granddaughters! Many many thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins Publishers for this advanced readers copy. This book is due to release in April 2020.

Not well written

A friend received an advance copy and couldn't finish it so she gave it to me. Really just feels like someone trying to capitalize on their family name. Reading it feels like Kardashian level emptiness. I would recommend the book The Matriarch instead.

A truly beautiful memoir

Love shines through every anedote and vignette in this beautiful book. I do not share the politics of Ms. Hager's father and grandfather but I enjoyed Sisters First, her book authored with her twin, so I picked this up and am delighted that I did. Ms. Hager is a talented and engaging storyteller, and her words make history come to life. A thoroughly enjoyable book.

Wonderful writer

Even though I am a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat who would rather be dead than vote red, I truly enjoyed this book about Jenna Bush Hager's family, mostly her two sets of grandparents, the more famous being, of course, former President George HW Bush and Barbara.. Jenna is an excellent writer whose stories kept my interest throughout. I read the first book she wrote with her sister and liked that one just as much. She is honest, open and has a good sense of humor and can also make fun of herself! I've read other reviews that said she wrote a politically-slanted book but I didn't see that at all. It was a loving tribute to her tightly-knit family (and Hoda). I hope she writes more. And for those who always jump in claiming I'm not a confirmed purchaser, there are things in the world called libraries.

Great family memories mixed with bad politics and stupid opinions

I have always loved reading about the Bush family, and much of this book is nice. What's not nice? That she felt the need to mix in her warped liberal politics, share that she's friends with asshole/liberal terrorizer Savannah Guthrie and prove that she's only able to be open-minded and compassionate towards left leaning people. Anyone who can say they supported that criminal Hillary with a straight face and then in the same sentence say she wishes people could see her father for who he really is, is not facing the reality of her own hypocrisy. I had to put the book down when she said that she decided that her grandmother learned how to be a better person at 90 when she accepted an opinion on transvestites that was clearly shoved down her throat. Open your eyes! She is clearly so brainwashed by Deep State and the horrible company her family now keeps with the Obamas and their warped view of the world, she's unable to get past her own entitled opinions. GROSS. There's nothing in this liberal left parade that reflects true Texas values or her upbringing. This is everything that's wrong with our media today, and she's made a conscious decision to represent them. ICK.

Very warm account of family, and coming of age

So far into this bio, Ms. Bush-Hager (naturally) leads a charmed life, with an overabundance of guidance, wisdom and role models everywhere she turns. It’s implied by the exuberance of Ms. Bush-Hager’s delivery and her appreciation for family, and family friends. (The fact is everyone — no matter how blessed and protected — has to do ‘The Work’ of self-realization and finding their place in the world, I would think.) The audiobook is narrated by the author in an upbeat and genuine voice. After a few chapters, you may stop as I did and feel guilty about the harsh judgements and mean tweets you had entertained regarding a few of her beloved Parents and Grandparents. So this is a chance to pull up a chair, forget your notions and biases, and see where she is coming from.

Inspiring, heartwarming and healing - a must read

I can’t say enough how uplifting and healing this book is during this tough time. The memories that Jenna shares about her beloved grandparents are heartwarming and beautiful. What incredible traditions and rules to live by. Jennas writing is stunning, detailed and full of imagery. You feel like a member of the Bush family by the end of the book. A must read for anyone who is feeling down and looking for inspiration.

uplifting & inspirational

Jenna Bush Hager’s poignant and beautifully written memoir, a collection of reminiscences, is a tribute to her family and the love and respect they share for each other. It’s a story of love, kindness, self deprecating humor, faith, and gratitude. Within a year’s time, Jenna lost her three remaining grandparents. These losses inspired her to reflect back on her life and her place in her very close knit family. Reflecting on the words from Ecclesiastes, “He has made everything beautiful in its time”, this memoir traces life from beginning to end, with its joys and sorrows through the years. She shares the wisdom and guiding principles she learned from her parents and grandparents, and how these have given her strength to aspire to live a life of meaning and to move forward with confidence. This moving and uplifting book, reflections on what truly is important in life, is well worth reading and one you soon won’t forget.

Bush Family review

This non-fiction novel by Jenna Bush Hager tells the story of growing up in the Bush family and her story of her life with her grandparents George & Barbara Bush and her maternal grandparents Harold & Jenna Welch. Filled with essays, letters and pictures of the Bush and Welch families. I really enjoyed reading this delightful novel.

Sweet storytelling

A precious glimpse into a family’s life that have sometimes seemed untouchable. Jenna’s vignettes show us how real they are despite living in a spotlight. We are shown the humanness by their love and grief. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this in advance.

A Celebration of Family

Jena Bush Hager has impressive relatives. Her paternal grandparents were the President and First Lady of the United States and her parents are also a former President and a First Lady. Her storytelling about the family in EVERYTHING IS BEAUIFUL IN IT’S TIME is impressive and well-done. I heard the audiobook version cover to cover and enjoyed it. Hager tells about her own foibles throughout this book to paint a realistic picture of family and a celebration of these relationships. I enjoyed EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL IN IT’S TIME and recommend it. W. Terry Whalin is an editor and the author of more than 60 books including his latest

This is a beautiful true story of family who loved life!

My mom loved your grandparents... I love how you wrote so well, the heart felt story of your life and the impact your grandparents had on the beautiful family you are raising today! There are many blessings found in your writing of this book. Thank you for sharing your joys and sorrows .... life’s seasons are ones we each walk through with tears of joy and grief washing our souls clean to be ready for the new day ahead. Family is the greatest gift God gives us! Thank you for sharing yours with us!

Many, many heartwarming sentiments!

I like the Bush family. I don't know why really, except I felt that George W. did a great job after 911 in bringing us all together. Maybe that would have happened without his leadership, but I appreciated how real he seemed. A couple of years ago, I read George H. W. Bush's, "All the Best" and was just so touched by his life of service and his desire to get along with people regardless of political persuasion. I was brought to tears reading his letter to his mother about the loss of his young daughter, Robin. Wow, just wow. So, when this book came up on an Amazon search under "Conservative Women" in books, I was interested. In reading other reviews and seeing that the book was based on more family letters, I was all in. I enjoyed the first several chapters of this book very much. I found her recollections of both sets of her grandparents touching. It is clear that she deeply loved them. I feel that way about my own grandparents and hope that my young grandchildren will feel that way about me one day too. There were several times I got a bit choked up. She has such a strong sense of family...and appreciation of that family...I felt like she was sharing deeply personal stories about people I KNEW. She started to lose me though when it became clearer and clearer that she leans left...a lot. I know that the Bush family are more in the middle for the liking of many Republicans. They may even be considered as part of "The Swamp". Still, as I said, I like them. As Jenna ventured into more and more liberal leanings in the book, I struggled. I was turned off and wondered what that says about me. I'm still wrestling with that honestly. I have no idea why this book would ever come up on a search of "Conservative Women", but I'm glad that I listened anyway.

An absolutely terribly written book

This book is terrible. Writing and info are the worse. Boring. H W BUSH's grand daughter, Jenna, just like Hunter Biden and Chelsea Clinton, sells books and was given a high paying job when she has no experience, because her employer wants favors from her power family. As I remember Jenna had lots of experience in underage drinking and that's about it. All of the Bushs live deep in the swamp. They endorsed Hillary Clinton for President. Waste your money if you want, but you'll be sorry. I truly thought that it should be a one star book.

Just what America needs right now!

Perfect book for the times we are in! Not a Bush fan? I'd suggest reading it anyways the love this family has for each other the letters between President Bush and Barbara.... you'll cry you'll laugh and you'll see what America is missing

Amazing heart felt book

When I saw the authors name I knew I had to read it. Loved the entire book! Had a hard time putting it down. This book was so well written! It really touched my heart. The relationship Jenna had with her grandmother, Barbara Bush, reminded me of my special relationship with my grandmother. I really related & let's say I had to keep grabbing for the Kleenex box. I loved the letters that were included in the book & all the beautiful photos. All the details were just perfect! I highly recommend this book! It'll pull at your heart strings! I'll definitely read it again!

Family is so important

Learning so much from grandparents and great grandparents ( if you are lucky). The different generations still teach the reason we are here. The Bush family was no different.

Grandparents

Everything Beautiful in its Time, Seasons of Love and Loss by Jenna Bush Hager is one of the most beautiful books written this year about her grandparents about her life as a child around her grandparents.

Outstanding!

What a great book! Inspirational, emotional and down to earth. This book was exactly what I needed. It lifted me up at the same time giving me food for thought.

Time for tears of joy and memories

A moving tribute to Jenna’s grandparents and the impact they had on her and her family including sister Barbara, parents and children. Fast moving with lots of lovely emotional letters.

Loved

Loved this book. It was a fun book to read and Jenna did an excellent job. Enjoyed her writing style and the memories she shared so very much.

Family stories

Everything beautiful in it's time by Jenna Bush Hager Like the stories that go along with the status of being a celebrity because your relatives are presidents. The touching warm moments that happen to a regular person also hit home as the same things matter to us regular people and we trasure what we have. Life is a lot different but the same... I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Great read

I enjoyed reading Jenna's latest book because I love knowing how well known families truly are. We can't believe a third of what we read, so for Jenna to share the information she did, we can feel secure knowing every word written was the truth. What a wonderful family. The love they all shared was wonderful. From her grandparents, on both sides, to her parents, she grew up knowing what love truly was. Thank you Jenna for sharing your story with us. I highly recommend this book.

Read And Enjoy

This book is a touching tribute to a loving family from a sensitive granddaughter who lost three of her grandparents within about a year. It consists of humorous and heartwarming anecdotes set in New York, Texas and Walker Point at Kennebunkport, Maine. It is much in the style of “Sisters First by Barbara and Jenna Bush (see my review). I enjoy it for the insights it provides into a family that many think they know but only insiders really do. Do not look for this for secrets, but just the for wisdom from grandparents, frustration and love from parents, wisdom from babes, laughter and tears. Read and enjoy!

beautiful!

A beautiful story about family and love. Thank you for sharing your special family. I'm going to write my first and new grandchild every year on her birthday ❤️

Wonderful!!!

I hardly ever write reviews, but this book was just a delight (the only word I think adequately describes it)! I had read sister’s first a few years ago and loved it. I wasn’t as excited for this one, but wanted to read it since I am a fan of Jenna’s. I think I loved it even more. Jenna is just a beautiful and sentimental writer. We live in such a negative time, and this was the perfect book to brighten my weekend. I laughed and I cried! This made me think about my own family and grandparents. I just love how close knit Jenna’s family is. It’s so touching, and she has a way of showing us how special everyone is. Absolutely recommend this book for anyone who needs something positive or a good, healthy cry!

Very good book

I read Jenna's first book about her sister and liked it, this one was good too. The author has an excellent use of words and knows how to tell a story. She has the same feelings we all do ,even though she is who she is. Loved the stories she tells of her grandparents and of the loss of them.

What a great read!

Reminded me of times with my family and losses I have had in life! Brings back great memories! Thank you for writing this treasure! Jenna!

Enjoyable insight into the the Bush family

I know the public side of the Bush’s but it was fun to read about George and Barbara the grandparents and George and Laura the parents. Jennas stories are personal and show a sweet vulnerability.

A Real Look into the Love of Family

Raw, unaltered, love and compassion. Jeanna’s account of her life as she knows it is a gentle reminder to my own life and the love of my family. The business of life can definitely come knocking at our door, but the realization that family is always with us, in good times and bad, is a simple reminder to never lose.

Beautiful Bush Family Stories

Excellent book with so many beautiful stories about this great family. I thoroughly enjoyed reading stories of the Bush twins Jenna and Barbara as well those about their parents and grandparents.

Catching up with a friend

This was a great read especially if you read Sisters First. I really enjoy Jenna! She did a great job. The differences between her grandparents but yet so much was the same from both sides of the family. It was a quick & easy read.

4 Stars

Touching story about a girl and her family. I liked hearing this different side of the Bush family. I didn't agree with everything they taught the kids, but most was heartwarming.

Walk in love

I did buy and read this lovely book, and sent it to my daughter for her birthday. It is a blessing to read something uplifting . We have a choice to walk in grace, appreciating those in our paths. This book will encourage you to see the best around you, be it your family or those who you choose to become family.

I love this book!

I have told several friends and put it on my Facebook. I'm a staunch watcher of the Today show . I love the letters and closeness they all share.
