It's a time of upheaval following the end of the Civil War inCulpeper, Virginia. The town is under military rule, but Retired General Charlie Redmond, with the help of his wife Rebecca, has a plan to transform Culpeper back to its pre-war prosperity. For the Redmonds, it's an unstable time in American history. Theirchallenges include raising five adopted children in a world that has been transformed. New foes arise in the guise of the Ku Klux Klan, which seeks to wreak havoc with the Negro population with escalating threats and violence. Another well written book.

The little town of Culpepper, VA is growing and the unrest between the previous union soldiers making their new homes here and the returning confederate soldiers coming home cause some problems for Charlie. He survives as does his growing family. There's a bank and a new dog breeder and folks are getting hitched and babies are being born and the Redmond children are growing up. This is a great series providing historical information as well as being a romance. It displays the hard times and the friction between folks as the country tries to mend itself. I couldn't put it down. There were still problems with proofreading.

What a treat. I will revisit this series in the future

After having read the first story online prior to publication and losing the official copy in a divorce, I waited years for the republication of "Words Heard in Silence". So imagine my delight at finding it on ebook AND with sequels! Well written, engaging stories. As a student of history, I found it to be evocative of the time period and other than an anachronistic phrase or two, it felt largely true to the time while still maintaining its space as lesbian fiction. Very entertaining and well worth the price of admission.

Please continue the Redmond Family story,

Rebbeca and Charlie Redmond's family saga is a must read. I so look forward to following this family' s story for a long while. It is almost like seeing my own family grow and change through The years. The love Charlie and Rebbeca share is wonderful. I hate to finish ever book. Please, please this is a must read Not only for the romance but the history as well. Great reading.

A MUST READ

Read all 5 books. It is a must read for anyone who enjoys an on-going series. I have read all 5 books twice.

Very good Book

I enjoyed this book and look forward to more by these authors

Great Series

I started reading this series when it first came out. I've gone back and reread them in full. I hope they continue to write about this family. I think they have a lot more to tell. Especially as the children mature. I highly recommend these books.

LOVE THESE BOOKS!

Once I started reading this saga, I could barely book the books down. What an amazing journey! The book was eloquently written and the characters were endearing. I wish there was a Book 4!

Loved it

A real page turner The gallows scene was heartbreaking and stayed with me awhile into the book However, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the previous two Looking forward to the next instalment of this beautiful saga of the Redmond Clan

I loved this book.

If there were more than five stars, this book would get them. This series keeps getting better. Each book improves the story. Please, keep them coming. Can you imagine how exciting these books would be on audio? Please, can we make that happen?

Excellent

Another great story in the series. I have no problem recommending this book to my friends.

Really enjoy it will there be a fourth book because l will like to see the children aged wonder what there life is like this book series would really make a great mini series on tv

Love this😊

Ok I must say , this 3rd book brought me to tears twice . I hope this story continues Rebecca and Charlie still have plenty of life left I hope.

Another worthy sequel

The Redmond family saga continues in this emotionally charged sequel. The Redmond's continue to raise their brood, build their stables and do their part to bring prosperity back to war ravaged Culpeper. But not everyone wants to see the family prosper and the many plots and challenges give the reader a story rich with historical detail and enough plot twists to keep them riveted right to the end.

3 rd book of The Redman Family( Enemies in the Gate)

If you have read the first two books you will enjoy this one. I think the author did a great job on researching the time period. I loved it!

Enemies in the gate

Great story with lots of twists and turns. Good representation of time after the civil war and the rebuilding of a community. Can't await for book 4!

Excellent historical fiction

Well written. Well researched. 3-D characters. It was difficult to pull the novel from the history. A rich and believable tale.

Fantastic series, throughly enjoyed the story and would recommend to others. This 3rd book continues the trials of the Redmond family and their friends and builds on the other 2 books. I hope their is a 4th.

I LOVED the Redmond Family Saga

I LOVED the Redmond Family Saga! From the start of book 1 to the end of book 2 I was hooked! I can't wait for the next saga to come out to see what happens next with the family!! VERY well written!

I love these books

I love these books!. As soon as one comes out I start reading and cannot stop. I love the historic details, the relationships between all of the characters etc, especially Rebecca and Charlie. I especially like that each book is a decent read, not all of us like our novels to end at maximum 250 pages. Well done to the authors, I hope this saga continues for some time to come.

Perfect book for someone who likes historical romance

Excellent book, lots of historical facts and great character development.

Five Stars

Excellent continuation of the Redmond family!

Engaging

Love this series! Takes you back in time with great detail!

It just gets better!

I've read all three now I can't wait for number four. This particular book made me cry so hard I couldn't see the words in front of me. The characters are so realistic that you start to consider them as friends. However, I must admit that if I have ever the pleasure to meet either of the author's repayment can be a bitch. Sorry but if you read you will wholeheartedly understand, and probably line up behind me. These books are so well written they just leave you thirsty for more. Your emotions will rocket from sadness to laughing out loud in just a few pages. Historically it is excellent but the storyline is outstanding. I can not encourage you enough to read the Redmond Saga, actually I dare you to try and put it down once you have started. It has to be one of the best books I have ever read and I'll admit I've read a few. Have fun on this most enjoyable journey.

What great books!

Have already read 1&2. Have now started Vol. 3. What great books!! Shall look forward to Vol. 4.
