Good Purchase
My only complaint is the kit fabric was hopelessly wrinkled. I couldn't get them out so used my own fabric. The iron-on worked great. I wish all of the pictures were iron ons. I am very pleased at how my project turned out.
FIRST poor quality product purchase
I have been a customer of amazon longer than I can remember honestly and in all that time I have never had an issue or come across with a problem that I couldn't solve somehow. I recently purchased this Embroider the World of Jane Austen product a few days ago, I was so excited to receive it and to start working on the projects immediately! At first glance things seemed ok, so I stupidly got rid of my packaging. As I began to work on the kit however I realized pretty quickly that most of the items were extremely poor quality. My fabric was awful, texture and overall appearance, and wrinkly beyond repair. The floss breaks easily while stitching and the needles are completely worthless. I did not receive any calico backing with my purchase either which was extremely disappointing as well. Overall I am just so unhappy that I am stuck with such a poorly put together kit. I can't even seem to find someone to discuss a resolution to this issue. It is just really frustrating because I can't return something that I have opened and don't even have packaging to anymore. Such a disappointment. Before leaving though I do want to be sure that I mention it is the materials in the kit that are poor quality, the little instruction book however is very clever and cute, Aimee Ray did a wonderful job at coming up with designs for this theme, thus a star. I wish I could've just purchased the little book and have it include copies of iron-on patterns (which btw would not adhere to any fabric I tried them on) instead of all this garbage! I suppose the lesson is just to be more cautious about purchasing embroidery kits through amazon. Oh well...
Charming and Fun
I’m a huge Jane Austen fan and have been getting back in to embroidery over the past few years after a 20 year hiatus. I only knew about three stitches that my grandmother taught me, but this has been a great way to learn new ones! I love the patterns, and it has been so much fun to work with! Only note I have is the included needles are very flimsy - I actually managed to snap one in half while stitching, which is a first. But if you’re a Jane Austen fan looking to expand your embroidery experience and you don’t mind bringing your own needles, it’s definitely worth the money!
So fun and easy to use
I love love love this set! It’s the first time I’ve embroidered anything and now I’m hooked. I did supplement the directions with some YouTube videos because I learn better that way but most of the stitches I figured out from the book. There are also several extra patterns you can trace in addition to the the four that are ready to iron on. I have used the iron ons several times and they still transfer well. Note: I originally traced some of the extra patterns onto lightweight stabilizer. Don’t do this! I completely ruined my work when I tried to tear the stabilizer off.
For Austen Fans
Great for Jane Austen fans. Mine was missing the fabric, otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Patterns are very nice!!
Kit had been opened
My kit had been opened previously. The box was fairly beaten up. There was no fabric in it. The parts I wanted were the book and the iron on patterns that I will probably trace onto fabric. Just be advised you may not be getting what you think.
Perfect for an Austen fanatic
Great set with instructions, I think it’ll take practice to get good but I love the theme of this
Nice set
What a super cute set for any Austen fan especially if you like embroidery. I highly recommend it! Lovely.
Cute little kit.
Cute little kit with everything you need included. The iron on doesn't seem to come off the fabric (which I had assumed it did) but it wasn't a huge deal.
No red felt! :(
Great book and beautiful colors. But it doesn’t come with the red felt that is On the box.
