The most user friendly guide

I know that there are others who are considered masters of this craft and who are more well known, but this book is right up there with them. It does not overwhelm you with too much, but instead gives you succinct, practical knowledge that you can actually use with great success. I would not hesitate to recommend this to other who are just beginning or those already on the road. I have many other books o. The subject, but this is, by far, my favorite. Treat yourself and get one

A must for eco dyers!!!

Susan Brooks new book, Eco-Dyed Art Journals: Using Nature's Imprints, is excellent. It is well written, clear and logically organized. This book could be the new leader in the arena of eco dyeing fabric & paper. The graphics are excellent as well. I highly recommend this book. It must be a part of your library.

Great book!

I like this book so much! I am a newby at eco dyeing and have experimented on my own, but the book explains in easy to understand way and pretty pictures! I have a batch boiling now. It's the time of year to start gathering my dye harvests to carry me through the winter! Thank you! This book is getting used!

Great instructional book!

Susan Brooks did a wonderful job with this book. My husband bought this book for me and I am impressed with everything within each page. I have other eco printing books by other authors, but Susan seems to make it so easy to understand and it's just like she's standing beside you walking you through the different processes and she explains everything very well. This book is for anyone, beginners or for those who have experience. I'm glad that I have thisbook to add to my library. She is very generous in sharing her experience in eco printing. Also, she has listed resources which is a nice perk in this book too.

Fabulous Eco Printing resource

Ms. Brooks is a long time artist, who has been eco-printing for a number of years on both fabric and paper. SHe has written a very clear guide, with valuable information on materials, mordants, safety, and ways to use your resulting papers and fabrics. Bravo!!

Comprehensive

I love this book. It is full of practical information with concise instructions and full color vivid photography. It is appropriate for beginners toe co dyeing or those with some experience as well. I do wish it were bigger.

Not original material

This book was taken entirely (practically verbatim) from material that was posted by members of a private fb group. Additionally the book itself was inferior quality, flimsy paper, poor photography, seems like a cheap magazine that’s rehashing info they found online instead of a quality book. Just overall a very disappointing book. Save your money

Basics of Eco-Dyeing

I liked this book as a practical guide to eco-dyeing with leaves and flowers. Good photos and descriptions of basic techniques as well as suggestions to extend beyond the basics.

Using Items From Nature

I bought this for my sister who makes her own beautiful paper using cotton and plants. It seemed like this book could turn her creations up a notch using more plants for embellishing. She was excited to try some of the ideas presented.

Vague instructions and confusing text

Bought this product so I could start creating natural prints. Started to read and found text confusing and very hard to follow. Not worth the purchase.

If your on the fence... don’t!

Please save your money. This book was quite a disappointment. The photos are of poor quality, almost out of focus and most of this information can easily be found on YouTube. There are many other sources for eco dying on paper and creating journals.

Easy to follow

Easy to follow and provided very useful information. My first attempt shown in photo!

Inspiring

I found this book to be inspiring, easy to follow directions, and wonderful images. Thank you

inspirational

I found the text and photos very inspirational. I look forward to creating a variety of papers to use in my collages.

Beautiful

Clear directions.

Well written. Interesting and attractive. Nice add to my art library!

Explains this technique well

I had taken a class in this but wanted to make sure I had not forgotten anything important.

Useful reference

I’ve gone through this book a couple times but have yet to make any bundles. The book is well organized and clearly written. I don’t expect any major issues following the guidance the author provides.

New techniques to enjoy!

This is all new to me and the book is a great reference and resource!!

Learn From an Expert!

I have had the good fortune to take several workshops from Susan over the years and I am so happy to throw away all my incomplete notes and just read her book. Susan is an excellent teacher and shares her information without restraint. Her book is a reflection of everything she has learned about Eco-Dying during her many years of experimentation. And it's beautiful. I have seen many of her eco papers, fabrics and books in person and they are spectacular. I have also been able to use her techniques to create my own nature-based papers and books and you can too, now that she has written everything down so clearly. This book is a basic primer for everyone who is interested in bringing some authentic nature to their work. It is also a book filled with visual inspiration. There are few artists that truly share their recipes, materials and in-depth knowledge and Susan is one of the rare ones. I highly recommend this book and if Susan comes to your town to do workshop — Go! Or, come to Colorado to take a workshop in her studio. She is a treasure to the art community and you will learn a LOT!

I love this book

The cover is seductive and the photos are even more so. Susan's instructions are clear and helpful. I don't even have an interest in making journals, but this may turn the tide! That's another beauty of the book. There are so many ways to riff on what she has shared. A great addition to the direct-printing, botanical bookshelf.

Eco-Dyed Art Journals is an essential handbook!

For anyone interested in creating beautiful art journals, paper, or fabric that bear the imprint of leaves, flowers, and other natural materials, Susan Brooks' guide to the eco-dye process is an invaluable resource. In user-friendly style and language, the author gives step-by-step instructions to the eco-dyeing process, with gorgeous accompanying photos. Brooks also provides links and references to other valuable resources.

Wonderful

I hardly ever review but I feel such a connection and inspiration from this book I feel I have to say something! Here, for me is a woman who speaks the same visual language, someone who has articulated deep things in a simple way. This book is priceless. I have a million things to do today, but I unpacked the book and could not stop reading it. So a huge thank you to Susan Brooks. Plus, if you are searching for something more than a 'how to' book (though this is included), the inspiration and deep connection this woman has to her practice is nothing short of wonderful. For me, THANK YOU!!!

Way overpriced!!!

I feel totally cheated! £19+ is far too expensive and a read con in my opinion. This is a cheaply make paperback book printed by Amazon. Yes it does give information, but constantly refers to other books that this person has learnt all the information from. So from that I gather if I get those books I would get even more information cheaper!! Although it gives information enough to Eco Dye, I wanted to read more from the other books it referenced.

Simple instructions

I liked the book very much but it was a bit too American for me and I did not know what some of the materials (various natural dyes) were, nor had I heard of them because they are native to America perhaps. Despite this, I am still pleased with it.

Good information

The book is very informative with good illustrations. Not the best quality as pages and cover are a bit flimsy

well written detailed book, Good place to start

fabulous book, clear easy and concise instructions for some projects. eco dyeing is not an easy subject and you need to experiment, but this book gives you a good start even if you haven't done it before

Informative book

Great book, very informative, helpful photos, I learnt quite a lot.

Beautiful book

Beautiful book - quite detailed - lots of photographs but heavily based on paper eco printing, not so much for fabric. Full of ideas and inspitation though.

Inspiring

Lots of great ideas, can’t wait to try them out.

Disappointing

Poor production quality - looked very amateur

The instructions produce promised results.

First thing is lovely tactile cover, very clear instructions which work really well.
