Excellent Guide for Digital Marketing Strategy

While I specialize in social media, it is not a standalone effort. All digital marketing efforts work together to deliver value for clients. This is an excellent guide that I have used both in my teaching and as a refresher for areas in which I don't spend a lot of time. I recommend this for digital marketing practitioners, professors, and anyone who needs to bone up on their strategy.

Not a 'Strategy' Book

If you know even the basics of online marketing, don't buy. I liked the way the book is structured and was excited to dive in as I went through the contents and overview of each section, but the actual content is not great. It's a basic overview of what each digital channel is with boilerplate explanations, but there is nothing strategic about this book. If you're new to online marketing and know nothing yet, this book will be a decent overview of what's available/possible - just don't expect to learn actually how to effectively use them.

Great resource for anyone who wants to a refresher on digital marketing, or wants to learn about digital marketing techniques. This is my 'go to' book for all things digital marketing.

Seems like a great book but not for a complete novice. I didn’t read the whole book as I want to start with something simpler. Taking LinkedIn courses instead for now. From browsing through it seemed lot of helpful info. perhaps for marketing students with cases. FYI- keep in mind I didn’t read the whole thing but perused through the chapters before returning.

Well crafted book for strategic planning

As an advertising professional with almost 20 years experience this book gave me some really useful and practical planning principles for my ‘toolkit’. What will keep it evergreen is that It often references how quickly the digital landscape will change and emphasises the need to keep staying curious and open minded.

Great starting point on digital journey

This book is great as a starting point to develop a marketing strategy. It gives the big picture of the entire digital ecosystem it’s needed to build to be succesful with a digital enterprise.

Good information

It’s like marketing 101 with emphasis on the digital real.

Amazing book!

Excellent practical information!

Worth every penny!

If you're a lazy reader, or looking for something that is dumbed down, this is not the book for you. Dense but very informative!

An excellent overview of the process

What I liked about this book is that it is easy to read. It covers each topic in enough detail to help you understand it and what is involved.. it offers references to learn more and then it moves along. It is a long book, but I found I got through it very quickly. This is not a how-to book. This is a what to do book. I would recommend this book to business owners who are looking to get a more comprehensive understanding of online marketing as a whole.

Cool Book

This book is a fantastic resource for anyone who wants to break into the digital marketing space. This book shows how digital marketing is evolving everyday and the author does a great job conveying this idea. This book also takes a big emphasis on not seeing digital marketing and traditional marketing as separate, but two have the same ideology. This is a great work for helping structure and build a more strategic approach to your marketing agenda. What is also great is that it not only explains ideas in a simple manner but goes into great detail in sections which is useful once you become more familiar with the ideas and gain more experience. I believe this book is great for a developing marketers and a vertran. However I believe it is great for vetrean Marketers specifically, not vertran digital marketers. Some of the ideas may not go into enough detail and depth for people who are very attuned and accustomed to the digital space. However marketers with decades of experience who haven't stepped into the digital space would find great use of this book. It dove into many ideas to advance my course work but it's great to know that I can revisit after I have gained a better measure of real world marketing. But did teach the basic ideas of SEO, customer interactions, social media personalization, and the best updates and features that can help the marketing experience. And what was great is that they also dove into privacy and data strategies since that is a rising concern with social media users. Also what I love was the structure of the book itself. I am a more “real life example” type of person and Simon delivers on this. Every chapter ended with real life examples and useful further readings for more details.

I recommend this book, I found it to be an excellent guide for Digital Marketing. The book is written in a way that even people who do not have any background knowledge of digital marketing would be able to understand and learn. The book is also a great fit for knowledgeable and experienced in the field professionals. It describes in detail the marketing disciplines and how to use them to create a successful strategy. It covers all the necessary topics such as the foundation of digital marketing and understanding the digital ecosystem and how to antegrade digital into wider organization strategy. It contains customer experience, case studies, and analysis of internet giants like Airbnb and Amazon. I found it pretty interesting that it also explains artificial intelligence and most importantly data protection and privacy. Each chapter contained real-life examples and a very useful section at the end with suggested further readings. I find it particularly valuable to have digital knowledge, especially during a global pandemic. This book gives numerous digital ideas that business can implement during the pandemic to be able to stay afloat and stay in business even though it does not specify our current challenges it still gives a past example of businesses and successful as well as failed strategies so readers can learn from it by getting a different perspective and real-life situations. During these uncertain times, many small businesses can shift the strategy that can help them retain their customers, and perhaps some of the newly implemented strategies will last even after the pandemic. I believe this is a great read for people owning a small business that are uncertain of what to do now and how to handle the challenges like a pro.

Therefore, it can help businesses to pick which master plan that appropriates for them which discourages the "one size fit all" model. The author also provides practical and up-to-date information that acts as great additional knowledge for the readers. This book is very helpful for people who are new or not advanced to digital marketing. In a digital age, everyone can enjoy the benefit of technology where businesses can take advantage of it to reach further groups of customers. Therefore, it is quite a necessary step-by-step framework that assists businesses to have more knowledge and experience in technology. The book has all digital marketing-related information from social media, SEO, content marketing to the power of technologies such as AI, virtual assistants. Furthermore, this book provides a high lever primer of digital marketing that gives business insight for students and people who want to become advanced digital marketers. This book can be a checklist for businesses who want to improve their digital footprint and presence on all social media to see if they are able to achieve their digital marketing objectives. As a business student, I find technology is increasingly important in classrooms and in our daily life. According to the paradoxes of technology, it consists of controversial opinions around technology whether it helps people’s daily life become more convenient or it makes people become more dependent or decreases their competency. However, digital marketing brings numerous benefits for businesses to grow and gain more valuable traffic and sales.

Insightful, thought provoking book

I purchased this from the recommending reading list for CIM L4 Digital Marketing. This is a really good book to read for those with experience with digital marketing, or for those who like me don't have a great deal of experience but need to learn more. I would say that perhaps it is a step up for my limited experience, and some of the detail it goes into is very complex. I had to google a lot of things, and there are still one or two small aspects of digital marketing; that are mentioned in the book, that I am still unsure of. However I believe a good book should encourage you to research and there are some great youtube videos out there. Overall this book was very interesting, and I learn a lot more than I needed to for the course, but I am very pleased about that. It made me think of ways I can use what I have learnt with my own campaigns both digital and offline. It is also a very interesting book and I found myself flying through chapters which are mostly well structured, with real life examples and a very useful section at the end of each chapter with further reading. I would definitely recommend this!

An excellent resource for all Marketers

This book is an absolutely essential resource for anyone who is involved in marketing. Digital marketing is no longer a stand alone subject, digital marketing is marketing and Simon makes that really clear. He doesn’t see digital marketing as separate and his book ensures the fundemental principles of marketing are described and applied to digital techniques. This is clearly a book written by someone that knows how digital marketing works in the real world. Full disclosure, ive not quite finished the book yet. However, I’m well over half way and so far it’s been incredibly helpful to help give my knowledge more structure so that I can take a more strategic approach to my work.
