An exceptionally illustrated fiction for millions of Blizzard fans, Diablo III: Book of Cain is the source book for Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo franchise and the best-selling Diablo III game, as told by the games' core narrator, Deckard Cain.

In Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo® and Diablo II, the recurring character of Deckard Cain delivered quests, accompanied the brave adventurer, and, as the last of the Horadrim, provided a link to the greater history of the world of Sanctuary. Ever mysterious during these appearances, Cain hinted at a larger story, providing snippets of it in his notebook. Diablo III: Book of Cain is Cain’s formal record of this greater tale—a dissertation on the lore of the Diablo universe, told by one who has witnessed and participated in some of the epic events that make up the eternal conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.

Designed as an “in-world” artifact from the Diablo universe, Diablo III: Book of Cain includes Cain’s revealing meditations, as well as dozens of sketches and color artworks depicting the angelic and demonic beings who wage constant war with one another.

Gives a nice, extra background info about the Diablo-verse

Gives a nice, extra background info about the Diablo-verse, esp the events leading up to and in and around Diablo 3. A nice, quick overview of important world events and history, without being too long or dry. Only complaint is the binding sucks. The paper is glued in a bundle to the cover, which is... a very heavily plastic coasted paper I am guessing... ??? IDK. Anyways, basically, it means the glue comes undone easily and by the time I was halfway through, the book part had come undone from the cover. The paper book part is still together fine, the cover and that part are just no longer together. Now, a pointer, as I also got the Book of Tyrael at the exact same time (has same binding issue, btw). IF you can't decide on which to purchase, I recommend this one the most. They both have almost the exact same info, with this one giving more insight into the events of the Diablo 3 game itself, as well as the events that led up to it and some the things that happen in the last two games. If you are a completionist, go for both, as there are a few tidbits in each that the other doesn't have but if I were to chose the better of the two, it is this one. It even has "notes" in it from Leah as she was reading through it after Cain's death. So again, perfect insight into the character's minds.

If you're a fan or someone entering Diablo III with no prior knowledge, this is your start !!!

Diablo III: Book of Cain is something every huge diablo fan or a newcomer alike should read before heading into this amazing game on its own. The book itself is truly like it came from the depths of hell. Blizzard has done a fine job of making sure the paper is really authentic and shows a lifelike representation of the world in which Diablo thrives. And even though it's so well made, the story and everything that ever happened in the world of this amazing franchise is written to the last detail. It's your go to guide for Diablo and you shouldn't hesitate to buy it. It's a must buy and quite unique and staggering to have on your bookshelf.

Damaged

Cool book. Content exactly as expected but had a few damaged areas on the cover. Did the seller even check before putting it in the box?

Great content, poor book quality

Great book! Lots of detail and background for the Diablo fan. Artwork is amazing. The book binding is horrible and immediately started to crack when gently turning pages. It's almost completely separated already after a few days

A good flashback on the the lore of Diablo

This book is a flashback touching on the lore spanning from events before the original Diablo game up to the introduction of Diablo IV. Some portions of this book was written in greater details found on other Diablo storybook or within the the lore accompanied with the game menu when 1 purchased the game. Overall an interesting read for a quick recap in the whole Diablo universe.

Could be better, though if you are a lore junkie it is good.

The book is physical amazing, well base and beautiful. The information contained is neat and a good lore book, though I expected more.

Great overview of the story so far and nice artwork

Nice artwork and I enjoy reading about the background of the previous two games plus the extra history. Only thing I didn't like was the edges of the pages. The edges were cut to make the pages seem worn but every page has the same overlapping cut that just takes away from making it look worn. Looks more like a machine pressed cut stamp that was pressed onto all the pages at once.

Was in new condition

Was in new condition. not sealed but had everything that was with a new copy. fast shipping no page wear spine was in brand new shape

Diablo Book of Cain

The artwork is great, the quality is high. It feels a bit mass produced while trying to be an old demonic tomb, but it's great none the less. I'd buy it for the money.

Great for a diablo franchise fan

Very nice book, any diablo fan would be happy to have this book in their library.

Great book, poor binding

Book is fantastic if you're into Diablo lore, however the construction is a little flimsy, the cover is very lightly glued to the pages and will come off entirely if you're not super careful.

A great addition to any Diablo collection

Amazing Book

Awesome book beautiful design and illustrations.

Loved the Book, Loved the Series

Personally loved the series and wanted a physical book I can read and reference just like Cain! I love the felt paper pages with the rough torn feel and edges to them to give them an ancient look/feel.

such an amazing book to add to my collection of arto books, it had a great read too.

art 10/10, lore 10/10 its better then it looks

Stay a while and listen

A must-have for any fan of the Diablo series.

Great purchase

Book arrived in great shape. If you are a diablo universe fan, I don’t need to tell you to buy it.

"Like new?" Not exactly...

I knew the book was used when I bought it, but it wasn't "like new" as advertised. Still, the contents were intact and that's what I cared most about.

AMAZING GAME COMPANION

My husband loved this! He has been a fan of Diablo for 20 years when the original came out when he was 10. Great art work!

Cain's book

It's soo good.

Four Stars

A good book to read about the characters and some history about the world of Diablo.

Good Book

It’s a good book. If you want to know more about all angels from high heaven or the prime evil, you definitely need to read this book.

Hardcover came perfect

Great product, good book

Really good quality, amazing art

Really good quality, amazing art, the cover got a little torn but that's okay, a lot of shocks can lead to that, but that's not important

Five Stars

Great book. Arrived a bit late. However, it came in one piece.

Five Stars

Very good

Great artwork. Concept kinda gimmicky. Could use more.

While I really liked it and appreciated the background on the universe, I was put off by pseudo handwriting, and other gimmicky things. The binding seems a little fragile...but let's be honest- it's not like I was going to get an expensive copy of "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire". Excluding those things, I think it is a great tie in to a great game and would buy.

Five Stars

A greath purchase if you really like the game

Good book for Diablo fans

It`s a good book for Diablo fans, really good art in the background.

Five Stars

Amazing quality and super cool gift for any diablo fan.

I would love to have it explained to me how this is ...

Ridiculous, every single corner was chaffed. The bottom of the bidining was ripping out and the sleeve was taped back together. I would love to have it explained to me how this is a "new" condition book... Dissapointed and I hope the people at blizzard are equally dissapointed that someone isn't doing their name justice by sending out their merchandise in this below my worst expectation quality.

Excelente producto

Me encanto. muchas gracias

Good book, bad binding

I love the book, however the binding broke and isn't connected to the pages anymore.

Five Stars

Great book, came in great condition!

Deckard Cain (aka Cain the Elder) shares his journal with you

'Diablo III' by Insight Editions came to me as an ebook that was releasing this month. My review is based on the review copy they gave me which is only 23 pages long. I think it's enough to give me an idea of what the rest of book contains. The book is told by Diablo III's narrators, Deckard Cain. The book has the feel of a journey with notes and drawings from the game. The chapter I was giving discussed the greater evils (Diablo, Baal, Mephisto) and lesser evils (Duriel, Andariel, Azmodan, and Belial) that one encounters in the game. It would have been helpful in such a short snippet to have a table of contents so that other content was something I could see. What I got was a decent read, and the illustrations were really good. The book is hued in sepia tone. It looks like it was previously released when Diablo III was new, so I'm unsure why this is releasing again, but it is a great game. A fun add on for fans of the game. I received a review copy of this ebook from Insight Editions and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

One of the best game lore books I have read

The Good: Fantastic design and atmosphere within the book, explains the Diablo universe and lore perfectly and makes complete sense of everything The Bad: A little on the short side If the game’s story can’t explain itself well enough or with enough depth always leave it to a book. Book of Cain does this in a very unique way by telling Diablo’s entire history via a tome written by Deckard Cain himself. The tome is beautiful with hand written notes to Leah at the beginning and end of the book which are actually quite touching. The illustrations and the way the book is written makes it feel ancient or just border-lining on the words of a mad man. The book actually makes a lot of sense and answered so many questions about Diablo’s universe that the games didn’t quite get across well enough. While this book is more of a sum total of all events in the timeline is still brought to light many things. Mainly starting with how the universe was created. A diamond exploded, this diamond was the original God Anu, and its many faces turned into demons and angels. The book goes into great length about explaining each of the Prime Evils as well as the Lesser Evils and the Archangels as well. After explaining how all this began the book goes into explanations of the many wars throughout history such as the Sin Wars, The Search for the Three, and even the Darkening of Tristram. Many major characters in all three games are talked about in-depth and their roles in Sanctuary’s dark history. I just love how well paced this book is and how Deckard’s writing style just sucks you in. Some times the book gave me goosebumps with how morbidly macabre and dark the book is. Deckard’s constant fear of the end times and knowing it will happen just sends chills down my spine. The book even talks about many areas in the games and the many realms you trek through. After finishing the Book of Cain I am just glad I don’t live in that universe. There’s no happiness, no hope, and always fear and hate. With that said, if you are a fan of Diablo this book is a must read if not for the great info then the beauty of the book itself.

Amazing lore book

This isn't any normal book its more like a text book of lore for people who have played the video game series Diablo. If you have like I have over the years play Diablo and you want to know more this book is just amazing. I have learned so much from reading this. I am going to end up reading it again, again, and again just to make sure I remember everything I possibly can about the lore of Diablo.

Black reading Background color in Fullscreen on PC not supported

Ebook version only readable through on Kindle PC app, where the full screen functionality for this partcular book and the Book of Tyrael have a white border background instead of Black (on the sidebars). Fullscreen cannot show dual page for this book unlike other graphics heavy books. Issue is only on PC app (Win10). Customer care cannot change it so only hope is for Publisher to do an update.

Lore + collector item for Diablo fans

Awesome.

Buy the Hardcover

Love the lore, but the hardcover. This paper back binding is HORRIBLE.

Excellent read

I loved it. The contents of this book can bring anyone up to speed in the Diablo franchise.

Beautiful book. Purchased for my fiance and I'll be reading it as soon as he gets done with it. We're both huge Diablo fans, and enjoy playing the game together. The book has such a nice cover, and the artwork is amazing.
