A Warm Welcome Back
SQLBI is among the Mt Rushmore of must have Power BI resources and with their 2nd edition of DAX Patterns they invite us all back for another round of templatized and easy to use patterns. I'm working my way slowly as all things DAX should be consumed with time and experience and I greatly appreciate the level of detail they continue to provide in their materials. Once again, thank you for an incredible addition to the collection.
Very useful book
Its an extremely useful book. Although the patterns are available on the site, being able to have the book and add notes is great (which is why I had bought the Kindle version) and being able to open it on multiple devices simultaneously is also wonderful. Appreciate how each chapter solves a different problem, so you don't have to read the book sequentially.
Great book, even better patterns but wish book had more info then what you find online.
I am a HUGE fan of the authors and I would highly recommend the patterns used in the book but I was greatly disappointed to see that most of this book was online for free. I started building the basket analysis portion from what I found on the web and I figured the book would expand upon this pattern... that was not the case. The pattern was exactly what was online for free and no more. Again, these patterns are awesome and extremely helpful, I just wish that buying the book they would have gone into greater detail and also maybe use a few different examples for each pattern. I would still highly recommend this book and basically anything these authors write... especially if you are a BI professional and use DAX or PowerQuery M on a daily basis but please be aware that if you are trying to build upon what they have online for free, this hook won’t necessarily help with that.
Technical book with no table of contents...
Please fix that in kindle version, at least. I cannot say anything about the hardcopy, but it is really disappointing to buy a technical book and being unable to easily hop among subjects due to the lack of such a feature.
Must have book!!!!
This book is a must have for any Power BI professional. Upon opening the book I found a solution to a project requirement that I have coming up and I can't wait to test it out! Thank you Alberto and Marco for another quality book!!!
Better if code was available as a single zip file
Need to download each pattern code, better if all the code was in a single zip file
Another Great DAX resource for Power BI report creators.
Another great resource from SQLBI!! A must have if you are writing DAX measures. The book is a how to write DAX measures for many different business scenarios that you are likely to encounter during your Power BI
Excellent, fills in the gaps with newer technology
Excellent, fills in the gaps with newer technology. I highly recommend it.
Very practical guide
A very practical book with many real world examples and accompanying downloadable files. It’s explained in great detail and they anticipate the problems you’ll experience with DAX.
Well worth it even if you have 1 st edition
Great 2nd edition - must have
