Be careful what you wish for. Beautiful, big-hearted, and very very tall Toni Traverse may have wished she had paid that worn-out truism some thought—some very careful thought, indeed. You see, according to family legend, if you dropped a coin into an old well on the family property, a spirit that dwelt there would, very rarely, grant your wish--if it was worthy. So, on the last day she owned the property she had a coin, dropped it into the well, made a wish, and the spirit of the well deemed it to be worthy. So, she woke up on another world, Ronan, which she was told would be her home for one year, or—if she chooses—forever. A world where she was considered petite. A world with magic, most of it broken. A world where the now all but vanished magic had taken the place of science and technology and medicine. A world where the people have conquered aging, but in which no child has been born in hundreds of years. And, a world with Markus and Linq, the impossibly handsome, unbelievably virile, amazingly tall, astonishingly strong, and meltingly sexy co-rulers of Wolf House, the most powerful House in the realm. On Ronan, Toni isn’t just some stranger from Earth. The Bright Queen, a powerful magical being, announces her upon arrival to be the Bright Lady, who—in a strictly hierarchical society—holds a rank higher than any mortal. The Bright Queen tells Toni (and all the good people of Ronan) that she has a choice to wed the head of any of the Houses in the realm and that, having done so, it is possible that she will have a child and bring the joy of childbearing to men and women who have been without it for so long. Somehow. But, not everyone greets Toni with open arms. Not only have the leaders of the rival Wyvern House decided that they will have her or no one will, deadly black widow spiders lurk in Wolf Castle in the form of Ursa, Marcus and Linq’s mother, and Jalina, a scheming cousin who sees Toni as a threat to her own plans to become queen of Wolf House. Toni finds herself at the center of a web of intrigue and of plots within plots, all the while coming to grips with the overwhelming attraction she feels for both brothers, and a sense of obligation to use her own knowledge and skills in conventional science and in herbology to try to bring healing to the people of Ronan. Her sense of obligation to a people she has come to love and who love her, on top of the volcanic desire she feels for both brothers, are challenges like none Toni has ever faced. Can Toni survive the plots and schemes that abound in the castle? Can she find a way to bring her limited knowledge of the healing arts to help a people who have relied on magic for so long that they lack even the most basic medical knowledge? Will she choose to wed Markus or Linq or both or neither, and will she bear a child to bless this barren realm with fertility? Will she be able to save the realm? And, will she find the love and healing that could persuade her to make Ronan her home forever, or will she return to the life she left behind? Daughter of the Everstar is the longest Laura Jo Phillips novel to date, about 203,600 words of reverse harem hotness, set in a universe completely different from the one depicted in her Thousand Worlds books. And yet, the exquisitely detailed and totally absorbingly intense emotional journey of the heroine, the amazingly creative world building, the overwhelming swell of love and fear and loneliness and belonging and pain and ecstasy, and the compelling sweep of events that span an entire world are 100% Laura Jo Phillips, and just what her fans have been waiting for. The thrills, the heartache, the joy, and the soul-melting passion are all there, to draw you into another world that you will never want to leave.

not her best

This was extremely drawn out. All the action was removed from the book. Nothing action happened in real time. It was all told back to reader from something that happened in the past. The sex scenes were the only action happening. So it made it kind of weird. And there was nothing else happening. So, overall, it was just too weird, drawn out, oddly told. And the whole mean girl things…so overdone. the “leaders” were all dumb as posts. And 1 her a list description of bacteria, fine no probs. 3 descriptions of the same thing further into book…why tho?

Laura Jo Phillips is hands down one of my favorite authors and it shows with this new series she came out with. She introduced a new world and new people and it was all built brilliantly. She has a way with words and world building that is really fantastic. I think the word count on this was over 200K and I can't say that at any time I was bored or skimmed over any part of the book to keep it interesting. It's very interesting from the word go. I can't wait for the next book in this series and hope it is soon. The character development is great. She explains a great deal and doesn't leave you hanging too long. The story just flows and keeps you hooked. The three protagonists in this are great together after a few bumps in the road and even more conflict. The book is never boring, at least not for me. I hope the next book is just as fascinating. Good job, Laura Jo Phillips!

Great New Series

I totally love all of her books and this one is no different. It is the first one that is not written about Jasan and I wasn't sure about it at first but man, was I surprised. This book is totally different but so very well written that it catches you with the first page and you don't even want to sleep until you find out what happens on the next page. I can't wait to see if she writes another from this line.

Fantastic new World

What a great read! The main characters are strong, intelligent and humane. The villains are deliciously crazy with only one being redeemed. The story line was plotted perfectly with no wild tangents and just enough mystery so that it was not predictable. Oh and enough sexiness to inspire sighs and fantasies. If this is the first Laura Jo Phillips book you read, you will find all her others and devour them immediately. Her word craft is fantastic and always an intriguing escape. Allow yourself time to savour, once you start reading you will not want to put it down!

Great book

Wow. Others have left a plot summary so I won't do that. What I will tell you is that this is a WONDERFUL story. Laura Jo Phillips always has great character development and plot development. She covers all the bases and makes her worlds seem logical and real. I very much enjoy reading any of her books and this new one is right up there with the favorites. One word of warning... this book is LONG! Be prepared for several LATE LATE nights of reading ... couldn't put the book down. Can't wait for more!

Laura is back

I had given up on Laura Jo Phillips. Her last few books were not romance so much as domination and men who claimed to love women but their actions did not bear that out. I didn't want to try this one but the prelude interested me enough to give it a shot. This was real romance and a build up to a beautiful love with some great sex thrown in. Way to go Laura. Can you write more with this feeling.

Amazing!

Absolutely wonderful book (some slight grammer errors) but this book had me hook the moment i started reading it i've been up literally 24hour and never put it down expect for 3hrs to run errands after which i immediately pick right back up again and am now immensely sad the i came to and end and there is no sequel about the characters lives next. I highly recommend this book!

Wonderful new book!!!!!!

Great new series (hint, hint). I loved this book. I have read and enjoyed all of her other books. This book was different from her other series, but a great new addition. I loved the world and characters in this book. This took me a bit longer to read than her other books, but that was because I was savoring the story. Please, please, please continue to write others in this world! (PLEASE)

I see another continuing saga in the future...

As always Laura Jo has developed a strong set of characters in her writing. The flow of the story and development of each character makes for a good read. I am always excited for a new story and a little sad when it ends. But, I can easily see a continuing saga with this new world of Ronan and look forward to it with great anticipation.

love her books

I just want to let everyone know that I love her books so much that even though I have prime and could get the books for free I pay for them. if you haven't read any of her books you need to start as soon as possible. I hope to see more of her books soon.

A very good read!

I think this book is one of the best written by this author. I couldn’t put it down. Very entertaining.

great story

As usual with this author, great storytelling - characters I could relate to - wonderful background. Read for free on KU, then bought a copy because 1) I know I'll reread this and 2) I want Ms. Phillips to keep on writing!

Great read!

Just finished this adventure in another realm and I am hungry for more! I really enjoyed the world created in Ronan. The people lived for me. I am really hoping there are more stories to accompany Daughter of the Everstar, because I loved Toni's story.

Why did I wait so long??

Loved it! I'm seriously kicking myself for waiting so long to read this! This author is one of my favorites, I feel in love with her Soul-Linked Saga books and haven't looked back since. This book is definitely a winner you need to read!

Bravo!!

What a fantastic start to hopefully a new series! Great world building, deliciously evil villian/villians, and wonderfully crafted storytelling that draws you right in! I truly look forward to the next one! Thank you Ms. Phillips!

Incredible new series

Anyone who enjoys hot guys, sassy, strong ladies, intrigue and some absolutely great put downs of unreasonable bullies needs to add this new series to their list of must have books. Great job Laura jo Phillips, get busy - I can't wait til the next one!

A wonderful new world!

Laura Jo Phillips has once again created a story that takes her readers on an amazing adventure! Once I started reading Toni's story I couldn't put it down and hated to see it end. I sincerely hope that this is just the first of many adventures that Laura Jo will take us on in the realm of Ronan.

One of my favorite authors!!

Amazing job and I love the new world she has created!! A breath of fresh air everytime Laura Jo writes a new book! One of my absolute favorite writers and I HIGHLY recommend her Soul-Linked Saga & Hearts of ICARUS series!!!

Five Stars

Wow I truly enjoyed this book now when is the next one coming out

I couldn't put it down

I gave this book 5 stars because it's really great read. Laura Jo Phillips is very creative writer I love all if her books. This story is captivating I recommend this to anyone who loves sifi-romance.

Wow!

I downloaded the sample, and was hooked within ten pages. I purchased the whole book, and stayed up late into the night, reading. Then I spent every free moment finishing it. This book is exciting, funny, sweet and emotional, with enough action to satisfy my high fantasy-loving eyes. A strong, just, and feisty heroine, with a cast of great characters, who all seems very real, very human. The best new book I've read in a while!

Good read

Very good book.

Five Stars

Loved It!

Omg girl this book is a MUST read

So there might be spoilers but they’re not like plot spoilers if that makes sense First of all....this FMC is one of the most mature & intelligent Main Characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Unlike most FMCs in the Ménage/Revere Harem genre she’s not brash, overly rude without cause, and she actually thinks about things before she does them. Y’all I have RARELY ever seen that in these genres & ive been reading both for a few years now. Like I can’t believe how blown away I am but yeah the FMC in this book is amazing. Hands down top 2 of Main Characters in these genres. Ok so literally the only reason why it’s 4 stars is bc I didn’t agree with the philosophy at the end of the book. Well not completely. I do believe that there is a balance in all things which is why they haven’t been able to have children bc they live forever. The MC said something ab not tricking the fates when another character suggested that some people should be able to choose to take the serum & some shouldn’t if they wanna have kids. Not everyone wants kids & that’s what someone else said & the FMC agreed. But she still said that they can’t do that bc they’d be punished but it’s like.......it’s not fair bc but everyone wants kids & they wanna stay forever young & not have kids & that’s totally fair. Since not everyone would wants children their fertility rates would still be up enough to boost the population & low enough that they won’t have an overpopulation issue everyone wins & people can do whatever they want with their bodies. I just didn’t like that bit at all bc I’m very much pro choice over here so yeah. But this was a good book 9/10 would recommend!

Oh my the endless dialogue

This book read like a screenplay in many places, a bad one. I tried to like the main character Toni. She was smarter than your average heroine. Unfortunately, the way she went on and on about her height was off putting. I'm a tall female with curves and this author wrote it like that's a curse, I assure you it's not. As I mentioned in my headline the dialogue is almost endless, that's all these characters seemed to do. Let's talk about the two leading males. To sum it up they were weak. They allowed the villain to get away with oodles of bad, with the excuse of 'oh she wouldn't take it too far'. Never mind the almost countless evidence that was brought to the hero's attention, by the Heroine no less. The level of delusion the author gave this villain was on the bad side of extreme. Sadly, these characters just weren't developed enough. Which is a shame because this book has potential.

When you have nothing left but a wish what do you wish for?

This book was amazing! The writing was flawless and the story building was mesmerizing! I loved everything about this world and enjoyed how utterly lost I was in this book. When you are left with nothing but a wish what do you wish for? Toni has suffered an unbelievable loss and is left with only a wish that she doesn't truly believe in. She believes quickly when the Bright Queen shows up and offers her up a deal. Start over in a new realm and help them, or come back home after a year. She decides to help them. Toni is so unbelievably kind and sweet yet she has a backbone and refuses to take crap from anyone! She shows these guys who live in the past that not all women whine endlessly and they do have much to offer. Markus and Linq are both two handsome, strong men who have an instant connection with Toni. After Markus acts like a butthead for a few days he realizes how dumb he's being and straightens out. Their connection quickly grows from friendship to love. It was written so perfectly I could see it happening in real life. Toni runs through some horrible bumps in the road but in the end comes out smarter and stronger in the long run. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. It truly was something I needed to escape. I've read all of Laura Jo Phillips books but this one quickly became a favorite and something I'll re-read again. I hope she has more planned for this world, but if not I'm still satisfied with this ending!

A love story that crosses realms

I greatly enjoyed this story. Toni is a plucky redhead with a strong will. Especially after all she's endured on Earth. After a double tragedy (no spoilers) she makes a wish, hoping that the legends she's heard all her life are true. No genies appear, or mystical spirits, but her wish is granted. There are a few rules she must follow, and a few the people of Ronan (where she is sent) must obey. In fact, the whole story is about balance. Toni brings with her love, joy, knowledge and the chance for new life. She has a year to make a choice that will effect not just her, but the people she is coming to care for quickly. While I enjoyed the book I still have some questions. There are time span missing that could have added more emotional depth to this story. There are also scenes that I am going to chalk up to unexplained alien physiology, because otherwise they don't make any sense. At all. But all in all, this is a sweet story with a HEA and I would recommend it.

Odd read

Ummm, this book could have been great, but it just wasn't. Many times I was rolling my eyes and skipping pages. And btw way to much healing\ I'm not a doctor but I act and talk like one, I get it, you have common knowledge like most of us, but I swear she was healing ppl around every corner. And then the book just ends odd, you had pages of pages full of nonsense, then you just end it without a real ending. They are all talking and then that's it, Bam, the end.. 3 stars for me, liked the storyline, great imagination, just seemed to have too much going on that I didn't really care was going on honestly.

Excellent

Excellent read I greatly enjoy her books. Detailed world building believable if a little perfect characters and great plot lines. I enjoy that the motivations of characters are believable and understandable. The books are nice and long I get sick of those 1.5 hour to read books where your done and your line ok great idea but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I suppose some might be opposed to it but I like a nice thick book like jean auel thick lol.

Recommended!

Great book if not for several things that raised my eyebrows: 1) Abrupt ending. Really? There was no other way to finish it? Ar least Markus and Linq's choice could have been made clearer. 2) Seeding. It was peculiar to read them discussing the process while actually making love. I do not understand how the technical discussion was not a major turn off. It was for me for sure. 3) Healing. While it was very good for the plot as something Toni brought to the Ronans, the overly detailed description of how she came to good results (also not just once) was too much for me. Other than these rather small things the author did a remarkable job in creating a new world and enjoyable plot.

Torn between ratings

There was a lot of interesting things about this book and I liked the Author's style. With that said I originally was leaning towards 4 stars because only my absolute favorites get 5 stars from me. There was just a couple of things that kept me from truly loving this story. The interaction with Jalina was too unbelievable. After reading the whole book I understand why she did it but I feel she could have fulfilled her point of the story in a different and more believable manner. I won't elaborate because I hate spoilers, so you will need to read it to see if you agree with my opinion. Which I do recommend that you do because overall I feel the Author is a talented writer!

WOW!

I very rarely give 5 stars, but this book deserves them. I absolutely loved the characters, especially Toni. This is a book I really didn't want to end. I was a bit sad when it was, though things wrapped up nicely. I loved the pacing, the plot and really realy hope for another book or three! There are a few characters that I'd love to see more of, specifically the Bruins, and Charin (though not together romantically). And obviously the remaining Diarchs, but mostly I really want to see more of those Bruins! Do yourself a favor and read this, though don't start before bed, otherwise you'll be like me and have no sleep!

Another realm..of wonderful!

Laura Jo Phillips has created yet another world-building wonder in Daughter of the Everstar! How so many fascinating worlds exist in a single author's mind is beyond my own ability to imagine. But the good news is, I don't have to..I just wait till the next heartfelt, soul-touching, romantic, adventurous book is published; then I stay up all night to live, learn and fall in love with the newest world and set of characters! And I have yet to be let down, nor do I fail to revisit each world, each story, each adventure..over and over, always finding something new or just something I want to experience again.

fun fantasy romance

Very enjoyable story about a woman transported to a different realm by "fairy godmother" type person. She will remain one year and then gets to choose whether to stay there or to return to her old life. I liked the characters very much and the story was riveting. Another winner by Ms Phillips! I would like to see other stories set in this world!

Loved It!

I absolutely love the way this author spins her tales. The story begins with Toniah, the female main character, saying good-bye to the family ranch. Before she leaves, she decides to make a wish by dropping a coin in the old wishing well. What happens after the spirit appears is absolutely intriguing and makes the reader laugh, cry and gasp with horror. Minor editing needed is the only reason that I did not give five stars. So hope this tale continues...

Very nice! 4.5 stars

It was long but everything felt right at the end. The precepts were fully functional too and I really like how the ending went. :) This book actually made me think of the choices in our daily lives. Some are small and inconsequential but some are big and may involve the future (just not ours but the future generations too). Fate is fickle and has a really grotesque sense of humor too. XD I love it. I hope it has a sequel or spin-off of some sort. XD

A wonderful author, a great book.

I will have to buy this book! One of the best science fiction fantasy I have read in a very long time. I am 71, and have read thousands of books, for me this one is a keeper.

No No

You need to put in your about book information that its a threeson I AM AN ORDER WOMAN WHO HAS NO DESIRE WHAT SO EVER THREE PEOPLE TOGETHER MMW Not hard at all to put in the info area. I will never read anything form you again

Please take the time to read this story, you will enjoy it.

This was a wonderful surprise. I have to admit that my expectations were low, I downloaded this book on a whim. Once I started reading, I was invested in the characters until the end. Toni is a likeable heroine who is kind and gentle, unless provoked, then she's fierce. This is her story of a new beginning in a different realm, new hope, and new love.

Incredible

I love this book! I feel like there should be one or two more chapters or perhaps and epilogue but it's still an unfeasible book that I reread often

Awesome story

This is one of my favorite books that I have read lately. I thought it was a great storyline with a fun plot and twists. The heroine was wonderful and all the characters were solid. It would be so great if this became a trilogy. Thank you for the laughs, tears, anger and other emotions your story provoked.

Not bad

I liked Tony, how polite and strong in her convictions. It took a while for the romance to get started even though the connection was instant. That in no way detracts, they got to know each other first before acting on the attraction. A better set of characters than those recently published by this author.

This is a very good story.

This wonderful story briefly touches now grief plus choices and how you handle them lead to unexpected and/or unanticipated consequences. It speaks to the heart. I definitely will recommend "Daughter of the Everstar"as an excellent read.

LOVE this book

Great story, started reading it and couldn't put it down until I finished. I want more, LOL I'm really hoping there are going to be more books!!!

Great standalone book!

This is one of my favorite books by LJP. If you’re looking for a great standalone book, this is it!

Emotional ride

Wow! I laughed, I cried , I was even angry while reading this book. I enjoyed every minute of this story. I fell in love with Toni, Markus, and Linq. Jalena was a total psychopath! I was absolutely thrilled that she got what she deserved. This is my first book by Laura Jo Phillips, but definitely not my last.

Awesome book

This story was actually pretty good, despite how unflattering the book cover is. Currently I am looking through the rest of her books and I am seeing a theme of unflattering book covers which is making people question if the books are even good. I almost didn't click on this book but I am happy I did. So please dear author invest some money in your book cover

Of all of the Phillips books, this is the best!

A reluctant, grief stricken heroine, with the help of her two husbands and a little majic saves a kingdom. I loved this full length format and I hope to see more from Ms. Phillips come to life in stories that only she can tell in this manner.

Loved it!

I love all of this author's books. I have been watching waiting for a new book by this author and once I got it I couldn't put it down. I really hope there are more books in this series. I love all the different worlds she has created so far and look forward to many more stories in these awesome worlds.

A well-written, sexy reverse-harem romance

A complex tale of loss, hope, magic, love, tragedy, and redemption with a very sensible heroine who is nevertheless capable of seeing magic in the world around her, and who has the good fortune to be courted by two sexy, alpha males.

Great book overall

Great book overall. Loved the descriptions of the land and characters. First part was great up until the climax then is seemed to end very abruptly like the author was tired of writing and tried to wrap things up quickly. Overall a good book

Love this brand new world

Loving this brand new world created by the ever reliable and must-read author Laura Jo Phillips. I'm hoping there will be more books to come, as Ronan is too rich of a world to explore in just 1 (albeit large) book.

Awesome Book!

How could I not rate this a five star?! Only problem I had was that there was a time skip at the most important climax of the story. Its like the book had two climaxes. A bit frustrating, but thats just my opinion and does not affect how awesome the story is. I do recommend this book!! Read it I'm sure you would love it.

GREAT BOOK!!!

I love this book, I have read it numerous times and will again, it is a keeper. It is full of romance and adventure, I highly recommend reading this one! You will not be disappointed!!

A great start to what is hopefully a new series

A great start to what is hopefully a new series. I really liked this story, though there's an odd jump in the timeline that was a bit annoying, it does make sense with the story.

Amazing start to a new series.

I could not put it down. A must read! You will not be disappointed. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌Very good read and can't wait till the next installment

Great writing

I just love this author. All her books are really well thought out and written. The plots are somewhat over complicated but the characters are wonderful to get to know!

Great book

I love all of ms. Phillips books. This is another great story. The characters are great and so easy to connect to.
