In a beautiful compound hidden away from the world, Emeline Sanchez tries to blunt the pain that has wracked her body ever since her terrifying ordeal in the labyrinth beneath the city—when she was forced to exchange blood with an evil master vampire.
Now, it’s his voice that haunts her...that calls to her in the dark...that never lets her rest. And while the children that she helped to free from his clutches struggle to heal, watched over by their Carpathian protectors, Emeline knows one thing: She must sacrifice herself to keep them all from harm...
For her beauty is irresistible to the vampires, her psychic ability like a drug. Whipped into a frenzy, they’ll never stop coming for her. And only the taste of one Carpathian warrior—the rush of his blood—can save her...

Lacks depth and fire.
I own every book written by C. Feehan and treat them like they are golden treasures but this book was BORING! Too many characters, no depth to any of the characters especially the main H&h. I usually read C. Feehan's books in one setting but this book took three days to read because I would have to go back to see if I missed something because the H wimped out and h was weak, spineless and stupid. If I hadn't reread Dark Carousel the day before I started Dark Legacy I would have been lost the whole time with all the back ground characters. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on a hardbound book. As it is,I feel like I paid way too much for an e-book. Some of my books, especially the paperbooks of C. Feehan are falling apart from age and rereading but Dark Legacy probably won't get a second reading. If C. Feehan has a ghostwriter she needs to get a new one.
Wish the characters and plot weren't so thinly developed
Love the series and generally can't wait for the next book. Almost always read in one sitting. This one was tough to get through. Took me three days of putting down and forcing myself to try to finish. Characters lacked depth and there wasn't much of a plot other than fighting, sex, and worrying. Also it was annoying that the warriors seemed so clueless, with vampires continually outsmarting them. There WERE some cute moments. But not enough to save this book.
Spellbound and Then Some!
I am a longtime fan and faithful reader of Christine Feehan's Dark series. Dark Legacy is not for the faint of heart and I must admit it took another read to understand the true magic and majesty of the story. After the first read, I was heartbroken to discover the horrific torture, rape and abuse of a sweet character introduced into the storyline several books ago. Sadly, the current political climate, social & civil discontent, the loss of lives & homes from recent natural disasters and threat of war have dampened my spirits and colored the enjoyment of the story. Thankfully, I let it rest and gave it another read. Amazingly, the second read captivated my attention from the first page until the last. Dragomir Kozul is an ancient, ancient Carpathian warrior that has spent the past several centuries in isolation with other members of the brotherhood in a hidden monastery high up in the Carpathian mountains. Given a brief respite from the never-ending darkness and the possible location of his lifemate, Dragomir arrives in San Diego, California to assist a fellow warrior under attack by a horde of master vampires. Much to the Carpathians surprise, the infamous head of the vampires, the Malinov brothers, have massed an army of vampires and puppets and created a vast underground network housed beneath the city. In the midst of the initial attack, Dragomir heard the cry of HER voice, his lifemate, Emeline Sanchez. Dragomir has spent the past several centuries with the brotherhood in isolation and unused to human interaction during modern times. Emeline was brutally attacked by the vampires and suffers from constant mental attacks nightly. She harbors secrets and won't allow anyone to heal or assist her. Surprisingly, Dragomir isn't the autocratic, chauvinistic, insensitive cave man I expected. With a great deal of patience, sensitivity, love, honor and respect, Dragomir courageously gains Emmeline's trust and together they forge a strong foundation for a lifetime. The road to happily-ever-after is a difficult journey plagued with monstrous pitfalls but the Carpathian community is a resilient one and comes together as a family to deal with the crisis. This story was vintage Christine Feehan at her best. Secrets were unveiled, a few mysteries resolved with several surprises along the way. And my precious Gary Daratrazanoff played a pivotal role center stage to heroically save the day. Bravo Christine!
Disappointed Fan
I own every book in this series and I always look forward to this next one. I was a little disappointed with the direction of this book. I was vested in Mikhail, Gregory, Raven and all those characters. Tariq and even Gary"s characters I'm finding it difficult to invest in. I would have enjoyed the presence of some of the old characters in this story to give it continuity. I hope the next book in the series come along soon.
The series is losing momentum
This book was not as engaging as the previous. The cast is becoming to unrealistic and the plot predictable. This will be my lastDark Series purchase.
Yawn
Not normal when I finish a book and I think “Yawn”. Seriously I felt like I have read this concept of this story somewhere before. Not a fan of the neediness of Emeline. How does a street kid get so scared of her own shadow? Okay yes I have not been around hundreds of street kids but I have been around enough and they mentally don’t give up so much. I was not a fan of Emeline. Not a fan of Drago..... Theses names are getting harder and harder to pronounce. It was good to see Gary again. Even though this Gary is a lot different since the last book I guess he went through some serious changes. Welp. I really wish this series would end. It has really really dragged on. Will I re-read this again? NOPE. Do I recommend? I really don’t want to but it is a series and the next book will hinge on knowing what happened in this series. A lot did yes and new characters with harder names to pronounce were introduced. But yeah - Yawn. There was nothing exciting in this book and there was nothing that draws me back. 👎🏾👎🏾
Disappointing
I love Christine Feehan Dark series but this one was unbelievably difficult to get through. Dragomir and Emeline are one dimensional and the fight scenes are exhaustive. Simple is best.
I guess ancient Carpathians are stupid and unpreparded for the bad guys? So far, rather poor plot line.
I've gotten 10% of the way in this book and am astonished at how stupid these apparently ancient Carpathians are written. They all know this master vampire didn't leave the area, they just dealt with a hideous situation in the last Dark book with him and yet they are completely unprepared???? Come on, Christine, I know you can do better than this.
Still a good story
I've been reading Christine's Dark series for many years. One of my nursing students introduced me to the series by lending me the first five books in the series, and then she didn't want them back (which was great because I was hooked). So I met Dragomir and Emeline in a previous book, and felt sure that they would get their stories told. And I loved this one. Dragomir is such an ancient, and Emeline is not a warrior, and their story has many twists and turns. I think that Christine's books are not for the squeamish or faint-hearted, and that becomes more apparent as the over-arcing storyline moves from book to book. Her Carpathian world is so complex that I think it's difficult to just jump into the storyline here, but she does attempt to catch everyone up. Since the Carpathians are my old friends (Gabriel and Falcon are probably my favorites), I was thrilled to see some of them here. The vampires in the novel are outright horrifying, and there seems to be no end to the Makinov brothers and their evil plotting. So, it's not just a romance. But the Carpathians are pretty cool, and Dragomir is one of the coolest. I enjoyed their romance, and I enjoyed the book quite a bit. If you enjoy the romance of a soulmate who will love you forever, and only you, then this series may be for you. One thing it's not is frothy and light-hearted. But I thought it was a good story.
As a longtime fan of this series, I was worried when I first looked at these reviews
Because on the main page, all but one of the reviews are either 2 or 3 Stars. A bit misleading, I'd say--since at this point 82% are 5-Star reviews. I needn't have worried, however...because for me, this was a good read. I loved it when the Ancients from the Monastery were introduced a few books back, because you just can't beat the older Carpathians. They know how to take care of their mates. Some of the more recent Heroes were either too modern in their thinking, or too cruel/dominant. I also enjoy that these latest stories take place in America. One of my favorite characters, Gary, has come to America to assist. This book, however, is about Dragomir (a Monastery Ancient) and Emeline (who saved the children from the Vampires in the last book). Dragomir is overbearing but kind. He also is NOT exceedingly handsome, which is refreshing. Emeline, I'm not sure about, as she is weak and insecure in some ways, but strong in others--the switching back and forth got irritating. I wanted a bit more depth. Another thing that bothered me was that Dragomir was CONSTANTLY being seriously injured during the action scenes. Even poor Gary was getting tired of patching him up, and told him so. I mean, for an Ancient he just wasn't that good against the Vampires. But I like the ongoing plotline, and look forward to all of the Monastery Ancients finding their lifemates. And their latest female rescues seem VERY intriguing. Bring on the next book.....
Lacks depth and fire.

Trying to stay a Fan
I have been a fan since book 1 but it is getting harder to finish her books, I'm I the only one that pays for 399 pages that turn out to be 355 of the story and the rest is Appendix 1 and 2,it's been happening in too many of her books,at least I was able to finish reading this one.... now I will go back and try to read Dark Promise and Dark Carousel...
Poor character development and repetitive introductions
I think her books have gone down hill. It seems to me that she is recycling scenarios: "Velvet over steer, her sex clenched." It makes me angry when I read about characters who were developed in a previous book and are now different in the current book. The Walton's have a totally different story line in this book. The children are all out during the daytime playing, including one child that was converted to Carpathian. The amount of children differs between four and five, depending on what chapter you are reading. The women are simpering idiots who ask stupid question. Everything is the same from one book to the other. I've been reading this series for years and at first the books were exciting and the characters were colorful. Now they are just Harlequin Romances with vampires and Carpathians. Boring.
The first books in the series had a lot of good character development and really good plot lines
I have read each one of the Dark Series. The first books in the series had a lot of good character development and really good plot lines. As the series aged it became all about sex and less about the plot. I am left feeling like a whole lot was left out to keep pages and pages of sex scenes in the book. If you like a lot of sex, this is the book for you. If you like good plot development and character definement, no so much.
Could Not Finish
I just couldn't do it. At 79 percent, I gave up. The H and h kind of suck. The heroine is a whiner, constantly feeling sorry for herself; the Hero keeps getting his butt severely kicked (near death every time) and then pushes the heroine around, albeit, oh so sweetly. There's no fire, no real conflict between the two other than him asserting that he's the boss and she needs to listen for her own good. She just gives in with soft looks and he gently smiles in indulgence. Gag! The fight scenes are redundant. Haven't read a good fight scene since Dark Wolf. I loved that book!! If you don't read this you'll obviously be missing information for the next book. I don't know if I'm reading anymore of this series. The books are getting more expensive and the content isn't worth the cost. Just... underwhelming.
Not her best work
I have been a fan of Christine Feehan and own all her series in book or Kindle form. I just now finished this and feel like I was left hanging. I am not sure I will be in any hurry to get the next in the Dark series. I wonder if maybe it is time to take a break and spend more time writing another of her series.
Parts felt written by someone else
I am a fan of the Dark series, and at first not really sure why I was not enjoying this story. As I read deeper into the book, I would find myself distracted at certain times and having a hard time staying within my usual book escape. Finally, I gave in that certain parts seemed off kilter, and a bit out of keeping within the series. Maybe one of her daughters is now helping with more than editing? I don't blame her, I just didn't enjoy lines not seeming to fit, like the main Carpathian male with all his personal issues and insecurities, and intimacy passages also sort of forced in the story at weird angles instead of the usual build of heat and flow.
Yes to Dark Legacy
I have to admit that I was getting bored with the Dark series.. Blaze's story Dark Crime brought the series back to life but Dark Ghost and Dark Promise were not my favorites but the Ancients intrigued me so I patiently waited for Dark Carsousel and Dark Legacy to be released. I knew I could not read Dark Carsousel without Dark Legacy. I am so glad I waited, these two books are in the same time and storyline. Dark Carsousel ends but the story has just started so Dark Legacy picks up on Carsousel's heels. This is Emenile's story and Feehan relieves all that happened in the underground tunnels with her and Tariq's adopted children. One of Ancients is Emenile's lifemate, he is a Carpathian who is older than Zaracias and has been living at the monastery for centuries. He is a throw back to the dark ages but he is sweet, caring to his life mate. He is Dragomir Kozel, he is now one of my favorite characters. Emeline Sanchez is his linemate , she has been though awful things and Valim Malinov wants her for himself. Dark Legacy is action packed from beginning to end. Feehan reveals so much of the Manilov's brothers secrets in this story. The Carparthians have been kept in the dark of what the Vampire Leaders are truly doing but it is starting to become clearer that the Vampires have evolved with time and are more powerful than ever. Treasures are found, we learn why Gary is really in the United States and why the Ancients will stay. Tariq has made a strong hold in San Diego and is making an Army who will try and defeat the Vampires. This story is left with more questions but we did get some answers and if you havent read the 1st 30 stories than you will be lost. Feehan has stepped up her game and bought me back to loving the Carparthians stories again. I hope my triplets Lojo, Tomas and Majaias get their own stories soon and I would like to see each of the Ancients find their life mates. I can not wait for the evil Vamp brothers to be taken out but Ivory and The DeLaCruz brothers need to he apart of that fight. So I am praying Andor's story is just as exciting as Dark Legacy. Happy Reading!!!
you may like it, I didn't care much for it
Do not care for the current theme. Too many pages of sex to fill up space, That gets boring after awhile. I skimmed a few of the boring sections, jut trying to get the book finished and move on to something better.
Love where Christine Feehan has gone with this series
I've been a huge fan for 20 years now. I love how she's kept the stories fresh and the series going. Each book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend people go back to the beginning and start with Dark Prince to get the FULL history. Now, Dragomir and Emmeline's story is my favorite of all the books about the ancients. I love how Christine Feehan kept things kind of open there at the end. You don't know for sure if a certain villain is actually dead or if he's been somehow kept alive even after the events. All in all, a great book that I immediately started a re-read on as soon as I finished and that's the number one way to tell if I loved a book - if I immediately go back to the beginning and start over after I've finished it.
A recommended Carpathian Saga
This one doesn't eclipse my favorite Carpathian novels (Dark Fire, Dark Slayer and Dark Wolf), but it's high on the list. Dragomir, scarred with flaws but endearing qualities. Emeline who was traumatized beyond imaginings, emerges as a strong heroine with amazing skills. And I love Tariq. He's becoming the equivalent of the Prince in the Carpathian mountains. I recommend the book and while you can read it as a stand alone, you will get more insight into the various characters after reading the earlier books especially Gary Daratrazanoff, when he was human. He is special and I look forward to his own story soon.
Luv luv the entire series
I could start off by going directly into a review but I'm NOT, you ask why not one reason being that alot of reviews before mine have already gave away the gist of the book an I thought a reviews are suppose to help the author with sales. Shakes my head smiling as I write an ramble on I've always been a sucker for a dark alpha males in any book and Ms Feehan delivers EVERYTIME especially with the Carpathian series. I've always make a mental note that if i ever get the chance I would like to know what inspires her to write about all these dark delectable MEN. Could they be based on someone they actually know? Inquiring minds would like to know because if that's the case this reader is begging you point me in the right direction, please.
Christine Feehan series too dark & ugly to be tolerated
got hooked at the beginning of this series, but author has decended into a very ugly place. no longer plot or intrigue. now just rapes, murder, violence and darkness. think Christine Feehan has cured me from thinking she is a good author. If she is purging her soul, she should pick a better forum. I want an entertaining book, not one that drags everybody through the gutter. bah,, finished with her. thoroughly disgusted
If you’re into bondage and abuse of women.....
This book is for you. Not quite the level as Fifty Shades, but pretty darn close with spankings, rape, and other physical abuses of women and teenage girls in this story. I don’t recommend. Namely, for the above and that THIRTY pages are devoted ENTIRELY to the conversion of Emeline from human to Carpathian. Egregious overkill! Enough already! However, if you are willing to skim and skip through the trashy porno, crude language, and BDSM abuse, along with the regurgitated ‘conversion’ that seems to be a requisite theme in almost ALL of Feehan’s Dark Series novels, the continuation of the Mage/Malinov plot is an action-packed read that ends with the unexpected discovery of Traian Trigovise’s long, lost sister, Elisabeta, and a young female mage named Juilija. The reader is also introduced to more of ‘The Brotherhood,’ that band of Carpathian warriors sequestered for centuries at the Monastery because suicide (aka seeking the dawn) is dishonourable and cowardly. Their motto: Brotherhood before Friendship.
This One Has It All!
The greatest Dark Series book in a long time! SKY high expectations for all ancients from here on out! And it was action packed from beginning to end! Prepare to be on the edge of your seat, it is that intense! I can't say enough good about this book! I love Emeline as a female lead because she is the first one to show depression after her ordeal. Yes, there is Syndil and Tempest, but Syndil wasn't a main character and Tempest didn't get upset for too long, bouncing back quick. Emeline is major depression and it is hard to get out of that. Dragomir is what all men should strive to be when it comes to women diagnosed with depression. Patience and kindness are all she needs to feel beautiful. She just needed to know she was loved and would always be loved, that he would never abandon her. And to me, that's the perfect gift when you suffer from depression: to feel that, when you are at your worse, you are not alone and you are amazing to someone.
Feehan has delivered another amazing Carpathian Tale
As usual Ms.Feehan has delivered another amazing Carpathian Tale. I found this book to be intriguing because of the backstories involved, the characters and the interactions. The way it leads into the next in the series is truly well thought out. It made me love the characters, the fierce and protective hero and the terrifying villains. That it introduces two new potential lifemates and also brings back a connection to characters from previous tales also works so well. I love getting glimpses of the previous characters, there is something wonderful about the way their lives continue and play into the new stories. A true pleasure to read this book.
It seemed like his story was personal to her
Spoiler-Do not read unless you have read this book!! My Christine is back finally.. you have been gone too long. But let me tell you something dammit I am rooting for the frigging vampires..especially Sergey to win..😂😂 Christine has made the vamps so powerful and the Carpathians weaker by locking them away in a monastery and away from technology. And what was the deal with Dragomir?? It seemed like his story was personal to her... like she modeled him after an ex...lol. He was getting his ass kicked every 2 chapters, it got to a point I felt sorry for Gary the healer..😂😂😂 All in all enjoyable read finally...but Christine you gave us alot to look forward too...new characters and new stories let's hope you don't go away again.
ANOTHER AMAZING STORY!!!
I love this series by CF!!! The detail of her stories just pulls you in and makes you see everything SO clear. Like you are standing off to the side and see everything in person. She builds the love between the H&H and it is sooo well done that you truly feel their love for one another. The detail given about the characters and their lives is what makes the stories. You know where they have been and how they ended up doing and thinking the way they do in the story. Every character is so different and their personalities fit each character perfectly. That is what makes these stories real :). Please keep writing them and I will keep buying them. AMAZING!!!
Dark Legacy
I enjoyed this book immensely. There is so much information in this story. This book actually ties the storyline together from Blaze and Maksim's story and all the stories that took place in the Carpathian mountains since then. If you've read this series from the beginning, like I have, you probably wondered what happened to this branch of the series when we suddenly went to the Carpathian mountains. Everything had to be set there to explain the brotherhood's place in the US as well as Gary's change and current position. There is humor as well as much action in this tale. There are also the love scenes I have come to expect. This is a good story and I look forward to the next book.
Losing interest
The books are losing more and more of their appeal. Go back to the beginning, and include real story lines. More time is spent describing the sex scenes, and not on the story .
I was a little disappointed in the content
As always, the book arrived on time and in the condition advertised. I was a little disappointed in the content. I read the book twice to make sure that I had not overlooked something. Each time I finished, I felt as though the story was rushed and lacking in something. I was kind of disappointed and felt that Ms. Feehan had rushed this one. The characters deserved better .
Enough with the end pieces
I love, love, love your books but am completely over the healing chants and Carpathian language portions at the end of each book. If you have a page count of 399, then please let it be all story. If you insist on giving us the current end matter, put it in a separate booklet or something of that nature. Most of your endings leave me very frustrated.
Should be a novella
Good story, but so much padding that it got drawn out and boring. It had so much potential, but got lost.
Dragomir is amazing!!!
This book is very good!!! Dragomir is an extraordinary Carpathian Warrior. An Ancient from the Monastery who has moved on to California to find his life mate. The Master Vampire Vadim has created a vast network in the San Diego area. Both want Emmeline a psychic who is human. This book is one intense battle after another. It is also an intense love story. One of my favorite Feehan Dark stories.
One of the Best Authors of Our Time.
Christine Feehan is my all time favorite Author. Her stories flow smoothly, keep the reader interested and wanting more..if you are just starting reading her books I recommend you start with Dark Prince.the first in the Dark series..though they can be read separately without confusing the reader they are much better when read in chronological order. POOR EMELINE
** spoiler alert ** Dark Legacy could have been one of Christine Feehan's all time great stories in her Dark Series. I debated back and fourth weather to give it 3 or 4 stars. I gave it 4 stars because I absolutely loved Dragomir . Having Gary there as a supporting character was icing on the Cake for me. These two characters along with all the Ancients did not disappoint. We get better acquainted with the Ancient Carpathians that came from the Monastery in the Carpathian mountains. I look forward to each of there stories. Dark Legacy starts off with a Bang and ends in a Big Surprise. There is lots of action and the story is fast moving. These Ancient Warriors and even the Human Guards did not falter under the constant attacks by Vadim and Sergey Malinov. Ancient Master Vampires with Slivers of Xavier the great evil Mage in them. Thaey were great Villains as villains go. These Evil Master Ancient Vampires were all we have come to expect while reading these 30 books and novellas of the Dark series. As far as evil goes they did not disappoint. But the Ancient Carpathians far exceeded my expectations. The battles were so well written and choreographed. I felt like I was there cringing and terrified. SPOILERS!! My great disappointment was what I had feared after reading Dark Carousel. The heroine of this story Emeline Sanchez has been tortured and viscously Raped by Vadim. The worst part was the descriptive details of what Emeline and the young girl Amelia endured from Vadim and his vampire underlings. But it is even worst then that for poor Emeline. Vadim impregnates her. I almost stop reading the story after that. That is a bridge to far for me. I hate reading about Rape to women and I don't see how this adds to a story. Especially her having Vadims baby. Why couldn't it been Dragomirs child since she was his LifeMate? This was Disgusting and Vile. No matter how many Carpathian blood transfusions using Dragomir's blood does not change the fact that this baby is Vadim's. Why Christine keeps trying to make us believe that this will be Dragomir's child because she has is blood doesn't change the fact that she is Vadims child DNA is DNA. Complete Blood transfusion don't change that. This part of the story was horrible I have had a complete blood transfusion because I had extensive internal Bleeding. This didn't change my DNA. I really wish that Emeline had not been Raped and Impregnated. It brought a terrific story down too a big disappointment. A bad feeling I never could get over while reading the story. I also, felt sorry for Dragomir and felt he deserved a LifeMate without carrying the most Evil Vampires child in the Carpathian world. I felt bad for Dragomir and Emeline. After all he has waited thousands of years for his Lifemate and he should have been given a pristine sort of women. The Rape and the forced impregnation was just to much!! In future we will have to deal with Amelia the young 14 year old who Vadim raped also, but she was to young to impregnate. I don't think I will read Amelia's story. I really hope it never come up.
Overall a great BK just like her others
But there were a few sections that dragged. Emeline was a woman that had been chased and had a baby implanted by one of the worst vampires, Vadim. Then came Dragomir. An ancient hunter that had been secluded in the mon monastery and was very close to losing it. Once he hears her voice he knows that she is the one. A battle to get her back continues to rage throughout the story. The parts that drag are were the whole dialog isn't much more than "I love you " for pages it just gets old. But once you get a little more than halfway it gets real meat. I knows she was trying to show how very insecure and beaten down from the constant voice of Vadim in her head and the pain of the parasites that he implanted in her also. Ok read just wanted it to move faster.
Speechless!
I am so speechless! Well, maybe not! This series just keeps getting better and better! This story was more than I could have imagined. My heart went out to Emeline in the last story. I am so glad she was given unconditional love and acceptance. Dragomir is everything and more than I expected. His friends are even hotter sounding than he is. I can't wait to read the next story! Thank you Christine Feehan for some another beautifully written adventure!
Feehan is one of the best!
Read it in 3 days! Was as excellent as the rest! I own most of the series, I’m waiting to finish my “library” section in the rec room so I can see which ones I’m missing to finish my collection! I borrowed from friends to read them all but I’d like to own my own copies for when I want to re-read them!
Carpathians - a new and amazing world!!
I've lost track of how many books are now in this series but each and every one tells its own wonderful story. This series has fantasy, drama, humor, romance - everything woven together into unique and special stories that never get old! I don't re-read books (too many books in the world; too little time!) but I have re-read several from this series - THEY ARE THAT GOOD! Highly recommended - but I would definitely start at the first book - each book tells an individual story but they do all weave together.
Dark Legacy
Another great story of the Carpathian men by Christine Feehan. I read some reviews of this book that made me initially doubt purchasing it, but I purchased it anyway as I have read all of this series so far so I didn’t want to miss one book. I am very glad that I purchased it. I loved the story and the familiar Characters were there as well as a few new ones. I highly recommend this book!
Worth the Wait
This series is on book #27 and Ms. Feehan still manages to keep it fresh. Dark Legacy is a wonderfully detailed and emotional book that pulls you into the Carpathian World and doesn’t let you go. Dragomir and Emeline’s story has so many twists you can hardly keep up. I loved this book and highly recommend it.
The forgotten rise!
As usual I wait with bated breath for each book to come out. I like the placement of the Carpathians who were forgotten. I also like that Feehan has let the series embrace 21st century concepts. There are a myriad areas to explore once we include new concepts. I have all of the books and I reread ones who are my absolute favorites. Keep up what you are doing Christine Feehan!
Loved this book
Finely, Feehan is returning to her original heroic characters without the recent delving into selfish, dominating, and abusive males as an unbelievable hero. YEA!!!! Loved this book. Strong alpha lead but not abusive at all and damaged but still strong female who wants to be sheltered.
Loved it!
It you are already a Feehan fan you are going to love this book. I do not write to many reviews because I think I reviewer's tend to give away to much. I will say this is a wonderful addition to the series and I am excited to learn about all the new characters that were introduced as well as some of the more interesting directions the story took. I just finished it and I already want to read it again.
Another Carpathian great love story
After reading Christine's first book, I've had a craving for more. There is no negative in her creative writing, just positivity of a great read. She makes you truly believe that Carpathians exist and you want a lifemate of your own. Kudos to an amazing woman that is truly talented. I'd recommend ALL of her books to anyone that loves romance and/or the paranormal.
Christine Feehan does it again!
Total Christine Feehan Fan. I love her books.. I love that she has introduced new and interesting characters but makes sure to weave some of her older and well loved characters together. Dark Legacy is yet another great book.. I won’t give any spoilers.. but will say it is worth the read.
WOW!!!!!
This book was well worth the wait. To be able to see Emeline get her happy ever after is great. This was a great read and it moved along nicely. I was also able to see where some next stories may come from. I still can't wait to see Gary's story. Makes me wonder when he states that his lifemate is is an baby? Who could it be.
Another one I can't put down.
Again, this is a beautiful tale of love and heartbreak, sin and forgiveness, and rescue and redemption. I have read and re-read this several times since buying it. This book made me feel so much, I couldn't find the words to describe it all. My only desire is for the next book. Like an addict, I want more.
Great
I've loved all the books by Christine Feehan .I have not read a bad one yet. I can't wait to see who the lifemate is to Elizabeth . Was hoping it was Gary but I know when it's his turn it will be another great read. Any one who likes to read would love this series.
A Feehan fan
I really wanted to give this 5 stars, but it seems like the Carpathians are getting weaker and the vampires stronger. I much prefer the earlier books. Guess you have to keep the evil going to write more books.
I love to read
I have read all her books and I have love this book even more. Please if you need to take a break out the stress of every day life, this is what you need. A book to take you away into a world were your man is tone with his love for his women. You will not be able to put her books down.
A time or two I wanted to choke Emeline but then isn't that what makes a great writer when they get you so immersed in the ...
Once again Christine Feehan has turned the heat up in the Carpathian Series. Dragomir and Emeline's story is chocked full of action. A time or two I wanted to choke Emeline but then isn't that what makes a great writer when they get you so immersed in the story. I don't want to give away any of the story so I won't. I will say (although a standalone) it left me wanting more - more - more. Any of Christine Feehan's series will have you anxiously waiting for the next book.
Great book
This book is worth reading. Feehan has done it again, this Dark series is so good. The last few books were not up to her writing abilities, but Dark Legacy is great. This book draws you in and makes you want more. I can't wait for her next book.
Cheers and applause
Christine Feehan has done it again! She takes you to a world of tremendous joy and beauty you never want to leave. Truly bad bad guys, relentless good guys, and the courageous women who complete them. There s action, mystery and a plot that keeps you engaged from the first word to the last.
Another great book
I can't get enough of your books they are truly wonderful. I share them with my sister and now her husband. All of your series just touch me. When a new one comes out I count as me time I tune out my children and my grandchildren. Keep up the good work.
Wow
She has done it again. Such an amazing love story full of laughter and lot of patients and love. This series will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. This book is very fast paced. Full of lots of action. This series is a must read cant wait to read the next. What an amazing and imaginative story teller.
Really good
This did not disappoint. Spoiler alert: I especially like that this one introduced something a little different, female mage. The book was really hard for me to put down.
Great story
Wow. Loved all the different characters and action. The story is finally moving along. There was a little whining in spots, but at least it did not continue for pages. Can't wait to read the next book. Stop with all the chants! The end of every book is too much.
Dangerously Good!
I admit I'm addicted to Christine Feehan Dark Carpathian series. Her characters are so intriguing and deep I can't wait to see what next. Dragomir is a powerful hunter, feared and respected by his colleagues, only newline brings out the soft side of him. I recommend this book to any reader who craves action!
Love the finely drawn & engaging characters
Yet another masterful, intense story in this series. Love the finely drawn & engaging characters, powerful story line, and incorporation of previously met characters. As usual, get lost in the story ... just the escape from reality I thoroughly enjoy in the world of the Carpathians. Am finding that I am much more interested in the ongoing adventure than the "adult" love scenes.
2.5 Stars
This is another okay addition to the Carpathian world. I’d rate this a C- book rather than a C, somewhere between 2 and 3 stars but tending more towards 2 stars. This book tells Dragomir and Emeline’s story. At this point, I’d like to see Gary’s story but I also don’t really mind whose story Christine Feehan chooses to come out with. And that’s sort of the problem. I feel like the books have stagnated in a way. Maybe this is super noticeable to me because I read this book, Dark Legacy, and the previous book in the series, Dark Carousel, within the same 3-day period, but the overarching Malinov Brothers vampire plot wasn’t moved forward significantly in any way in the last 2 books. Even the format of having at least one major vampire taken out per book has been dropped. So by the end of this book, we had maybe moved 1cm forward from where we started. Other than letting us know Dragomir has a lifemate and revealing 2 new potential lifemates, this book wasn’t really necessary. My second grievance with this book is the fact that the romance is VERY weak! There’s a lot of telling and not a lot of showing. If only even a tenth of the effort spent describing otherworldly scenes and Carpathian culture was spent on building the relationship between Dragomir and Emeline, I wouldn’t complain. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that there’s no romance between them, they are both incredibly likeable characters. However, it felt like they were not together enough, like their relationship was an addendum to this novel, like CF already had this novel and then just threw in their names here and there when she remembered there needed to be some romance in this fantasy novel. My third grievance is that I don’t like the plotting of this book and that has to do with the placing of Dragomir and Emeline’s scenes together. Several times it feels like the book is/should be over and then it turns out there’s more. The build of the book to a climax and resolution is somewhat haphazard- you can’t quite identify the middle or ending of the book in that they’re pretty interchangeable to me. This didn’t feel like a complete novel to me, but more a random series of events happening haphazardly to/around Emeline. Then of course there was my usual grievance with throwing in the Carpathian language without always telling us what it meant. There were even a couple of phrases that weren’t even in the glossary at the back so really, who knows what they mean? I’m just relieved that they didn’t put all the songs and chants in to fill the pages like they did in earlier books- that’s all in the appendices where they belong. What’s good about this book is the few scenes when Dragomir pours encouragement into Emeline and where Emeline expressed her love for Dragomir- CF really knows how to write about ideal love when she wants to and there were shades of the early books like Dark Prince in the lead couple’s expressions of love for each other. The romance is where this book shines to me. The fantasy portions were a bit much for me but that might be a matter of taste. If you really like fantasy, you probably will like that. When the series started, it was lighter on fantasy and THAT is what drew me in but now it’s heavy on descriptions of other worlds and esoteric superpowers and that’s not really for me. I would recommend this to the ride-or-die Carpathian fans and maybe people who really enjoy fantasy series. In general, I feel that if the overarching plots are going to be moved so slowly and we’re going to get 2 books in a row with no major change in the Malinov Vampires story arch beyond learning which brother is really in charge, THEN we should have more than one romantic couple per novel. I can’t help but feel that the plots are moving so slowly so that she can accommodate all the lifemateless Carpathian men still floating around. I am a fan of CF and this series and have stuck through the good and bad, but I think this holding pattern the books are currently in is a little unfair. These days, it takes multiple books to move the plots significantly forward. It begins to feel like this has become just a money spinner rather than a much-loved series.
Just a little lacking in its impact.
Not my favoourite one in the series..but as always well written and enjoyable. for the first time I felt the series was beginning to shows signs of feeling its age.Her male charaters seem to be less involved with their homeland..almst as if they were on the point f "coming out".
One of the better series.
I love this series. I find myself being lost in the storyline with every page I turn. I find the story ends to soon, and I find that I re-read a lot of the story. Can't wait for the next book.
I love this series!
Although I truly miss some of the older characters and the Carpathian Mountains, I am enjoying learning more about this new set of people being introduced! Dragomir and Emeline are beautiful inside and out, and the story moved at a rapid pace, keeping me entertained and never frustrated with obvious plot obstacles. Christine Feehan hit a home run with this one, and I’m excited to read about all of the new people I’ve met recently!
Her best book yet!
Oh my goodness, I couldn't put it down ! Compelling continuation from Dark Carousel. Action, action, action, a rollercoaster ride of a book. Old friends, new people so much suspense and of course, emotions and love! You are a fool if you don't read it! Can't wait for the continued story! Please write fast Ms. Feehan!
Perfection!
Loved every minute of this book and this entire series. It was well written and I loved that all the books were inter woven, as they each would refer back to the original people. Historically, it gave much knowledge to the Carpathian lands and people. I can't wait for the next Dark book.
Hello Sexy
This was great. Looking forward to the next one. Never a dull moment, always exciting. Just hoping the next one is as good as this one.
... new twists and turns but the romance is so beautiful. It’s touching and just beautiful
This series continues with new twists and turns but the romance is so beautiful. It’s touching and just beautiful. Characters are truly intriguing, scary and downright romantic. It’s a great read.
Awesome
As usual, Feehan has once again enthralled me in a book that never lasts long because I can never put it down once I start. These characters & all the characters in the book are entertaining. I am taken in from the first page to the last page.
Three Stars
Not able to follow the story line plot hard to follow.
I've been reading this series for years and I am so excited about the ancients finding their lifemates after so much time!
Christine Feehan has outdone herself in the literary world by the creation of this unique and lovingly crafted storyline that will have you transported to another world where dreams come true and love is a reality! One of Your Greatest Fans, Lena deLeon lenadeleon2004.ld@gmail.com
Great addition to the dark series
Sex scenes are super hot . Dragomir is a delicious hero . The back story with his brothers and Gary will leave you thrusting for the next instalment to find out who will be the next lifemated couple.

Christine has done another great job in this series. This is a great series there is a lot of action, and romance.

Mystery and romance
I love her books! The carpathian series are awesome. The men love their women and are some dudes. You never can figure out how the ending is going to be, she keeps you guessing!
trick or suspense
This story brings together the far past, ancient men and women, with today's computers and women. Christine is a master story teller who brings peace and strength to all her stories!!A must read for all Dark series fans!
Love this series, normally
I like all of the Carpathian books. This one was a little same old, same old. Not as good as I always expect from Feehan. Still I read it and enjoyed Emeline's story.
Dark Legacy
Dragomir and Emmeline get their book in Dark Legacy. They battle the vampires to live a life together. It is wonderful and full of adventure.
The "Darks" are back!
I feel like I have come home again! There is a story, there are children and dragons and yes, there is still sex. It doesn't take over the whole book though. I enjoy reading the Carpathian books again!
Feehan just gets better and better
So glad one of the monestary guys got a licensee and Emeline got her story told. What I'm really excited about is a whole new set to the Dark Hunters series. Hint. Hint. Enjoy all
One of her best, amazing
Took me there as always, she has lifted to a new level in this Carpathian world we live to escape into. Thank you!
Loved It.
As always CF delivered the goods. A wonderful story . An a lot of news about characters. The story went as I thought it would. I guess CF and I think a like. I recommend it to everyone who loves action and the paranormal.
Three Stars
I liked the story line. Too much detail too many times in the love scenes. Not enough plot.
One of her best!!
One of her best!! The action kept me turning page after page without wanting to stop. I love how much more storyline there is, how much more detail there is and how much more action packed this book is. Definitely one of Christine's best in the Dark series
Great story
Enjoyed this book. It had a good story and I love the Carpathians and their licenses. On to the next book in the series.
Fast paced
I’ve been reading Christine Feehan books for years and this one did not disappoint. The challenges that the characters had to overcome kept the pace of the story going quickly and made it difficult to put the book down. A great read. Christine Feehan fans will love this story.

Loveeeee the Dark series. I order my novels from Amazon because I can never find the current Dark novel locally. The price is great & I struggle to put my book down when I open the cover!!
Frighteningly appealing in every way imaginable!!!
Heroic, and intensively thought provoking. It was like a virtual reality that captivated you from start to end. Nothing was wasted in the way of entertaing.
Newness appreciated...
Showed another view of life lifemates. Nice introduction of new ancients. I am looking forward to the story of the newest mage and rescued carpathian treasure.
Dark Legacy
Christine Feehan has done it again. What an amazing tale of the struggle between good and evil. Feehan has a knack for drawing you into her books and you just need to see what happens with all of her characters. Definitely don't want to miss this one!!!!

Most wonderful series, I almost can't get enough
Most wonderful series, I almost can't get enough. The author is wonderful and very imaginative, I often find myself smiling while reading :-)
Amazing read!
Christine has always been a favorite of mine since the first book. She has such a way with words that captivate you and draw you into the book. Her words paint a fantastic picture as if a movie was playing in your mind as you read. I look forward to each new book she releases.
Wow
I have always loved this series by Mrs. Feehan but this one by far has been the best one yet in my opinion. It was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end I eagerly look forward to the next chapter.
Love this
This story was so amazing. How great and wonderful and sexy. All of her stories are so addictive, I have read the series numerous times already and will again I'm sure
Great!
Another great addition to the Carpathian series. A Carpathian male has found his lifemate. This book is exciting and passionate. I can't wait until the next book.
Good plot but has gone down the road to porn
Great plot. She has made the sex so detailed it is pornographic. And there just to much of it. I would rather have a book 50% shorter.
Exciting Story
Lots of surprises and interesting twists and turns. I was captured from the beginning of the book to the very end. It lest a lot of room for more stories to come
Christine Feehan's Carpathians are the best. Alphas in the best possible way

Exceeded Expectations
This new Carpathian novel is the best yet. Christine Feehan keeps getting better, which I didn’t think possible. Her vivid imagery and word choices make the words come alive.

Carathian Hunters
I have read every novel in this series. I am in love with the way Feehan brings the humans into contact with the Carpathian people. Each new story intricately tied to the last and future segments. The men more valiant than the last, while touching on the fine balance between strong women and those that want to be cared for! Recommended to all fantasy lovers!

Another spellbinding story!
Once again Christine Feehan weaves a spell of storytelling. You will find yourself lost in the telling. I cannot wait to see who the next strong Carpathian is to fall under the spell of their lifemate.
DARK LEGACY
THIS is one of the best I,'ve read in this series! I am impressed by all of the character's and their stories. The plot just gets better and better. I can,t seem to get enough. Sincerely Patricia Betts Roddy.
Another good one!

Good
The end came to quickly for my taste. Great book, I can't wait for the next one. The plot thickens. Wh a terrible would happen next......
A complex story that will have your riveted until the very end !!
Emeline Sanchez looks over the compound built and protected by Tariq, Maksim as well as several of the Ancient Carpathians from the monastery deep in the Carpathian mountains. The Carpathian hunters have built a sanctuary base in San Diego to hunt the most evil of creatures, the vampire and Vadim Malinov is one of the very worst Only weeks earlier she and Blaze entered his underground city to rescue 4 children and in doing so she was captured and held by Vadim for a short time before being rescued. It wasn’t soon enough to prevent the horror of a blood exchange between them, now she battles the agonizing pain of his evil blood and parasites as well as his voice in her head telling her what he will do to the children and everyone else on the compound if she doesn’t do his bidding and come to him. Emeline’s greatest fear is that she will have to capitulate to save the children. Dragomir, an Ancient Carpathian, one of the most dangerous of the Brotherhood of the Monastery had traveled to Tariq’s compound hoping that he would find his lifemate after centuries of waiting. Trying to understand the world as it is now has convinced him that his time has past; he will never understand the independence of the modern woman let alone be able to coexist with a lifemate with his dominant personality. He has one last duty to perform, that of ridding the world of Vadim Malinov. A traitor on the compound lowers the safeguards allowing Vadim access and Dragomir and Emeline are forced to battle the shock of finding themselves lifemates and battling Vadim face to face at the same time. The complexity of the Dark Legacy story is amazing! The continuing storyline from Dark Crime and Dark Carousal expands the base being built in America, the emergence of the Ancients of the Monastery into the modern world and the continuing battle against the remaining Malinov brothers plans for supremacy. Ms. Feehan’s flair for placing small hints and shocking discoveries is in rare form in Dark Legacy. While the dominant personality of Dragomir will have some grinding their teeth, the love and ability to compromise between lifemates will always be the central theme in a Carpathian novel. This series has had me entranced since Dark Prince back in 1999, no matter where she has taken us with this series, I have always felt empowered by the love of family embedded in each story. Can’t wait for the next installment!!
This book was plain boring most of the time. Am disappointed with the details of language etc at the end of the book. The author had many opportunities to improve the story line, but she just regurgitated old stuff. Please Christine you can do better than this.
I would not recommend this book because it was a waste of money spent. Am so disappointed with the quality of work presented.
Another winner
These books just get better and better. A little to many pages of sex but terrific stories. Can't wait for the next one.
Amazing!
Amazing storyline! Christine Feehan is a fantastic writer! I have never been disappointed by anything she wrote!

Finally
As the science behind their insanity is revealed the branches are filling in on this incredibly detailed Carpathian/vampire tree. Eventually I'm going to have to purchase the whole series.
As good as all her Carpathian books. New vampire in love. A must have of her collection.
As good as all her Carpathian books . A must have for her collection. Deadline, a New vampire in love
Vampire love
Her dark series is absolutely one of my favorite series. I love everything she writes but her dark series hooked me on her writing
Great fight to live
Carpathians and vampires. Fight. So strong. It was exciting to see all the different ways they meet each other. Great story!
Where is the usual fire 🔥??
I'm a big fan of the Carpathian books but this one lacked the usual fire! Plus the MC was a little too whiney for me. I prefer strong fierce main characters especially heroines.
Wonderful continuation of my Carpathians
The story line is getting stronger every book. Makes me want to read The Dark Prince again and keep going. Christine will continue to be my favorite author forever!!
Very good, I know I have to reread it because I read it so fast
Can't hardly wait for your next one. I like all of it. And I recommend your book to a lot of my friends. I like that they can be read out of order, they're just good. Thank you for a good read.
The Carpathian are back
To say this book was exciting and thrilling would be an understatement. Another great Carpathian Novel by the great Christine Feehan. Unlike the first books in the series, this is about the ancients, the oldest of the warriors. Emeline Sanchez is free, after saving the children from the vampire, she is free, but she's not. He is in her head and her body. He left something behind. Dragomir insists he is her lifemate, but howncan that be, she is tainted. Dragomir is hers, as she is his. He will save her, and give his life for hers. The characters are so well defined and the story just flows so easy, never a dull moment. Great book, now to wait for the next one.
A great continuation of the series
I enjoyed the fully fleshed out characters and storyline. Reading this increases anticipation for the next books in the series
LOVE the CARPATHIANS!!!
Fast moving, intense, and sexy! Couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next. Love the way she keeps the world of the Carpathians spinning.
Great read
The carpathian novels are by far one of the best paranormal romance series out there. They are well written and I can hardly wait for the next one to come out.
Excellent
Continuing the tradition. Each one is as good and a little better than the last. Don’t want this to end.
Love christine feehan

It was a great book just had trouble following sometimes
It was a great book just had trouble following sometimes. Maybe if I was reading instead of listening to it.
Awesome, as always!
Mrs. Feehan was able once again to captivate and bring me lack of sleep, as all I wanted to do was read the next chapter and the next... This will satisfy your craving for the Carpathian's, at least until the next book. Enjoy!
Love her books
Haven't ready anything that isn't exceptional. Love her books.
As always
Ms. Meehan always writes five star rated books. All of her series are five star rating. She just that good.
too violent to be a romance.
all i seem to read is about violence against women and children .there is no romance. This writer should no longer be consider a romance writer.
Love this series. Have read them all more than once.
Love all her series. Leopard, Dark series, game series. Read them all. The shadow series, omgooness. Once a year I re read them all!
the serries is awesome
love the story love this series, can't put the book down.
Dark Series....Oh Yeah!
Love this book...can't wait for more books in the Dark Series...
Amazing as always
Christine Feehan never disappoints! I wait impatiently for each new installment. The Dark series is my favorite. I love getting to catch up with old friends and being introduced to new ones.
Meh
I don't like romance novels. The write-up made it sound like it was an action novel built in a fantasy world. It was deceiving. If you aren't a fan of sex books, stay away from this one.
Another great one in the series!
Loved how the reason Vadim wanted Emeline was a real surprise! And the segway into (hopefully) Esmeralda (?spelling) future story!! <3
Great
Awesome book. Haven't read this series in a few years but it was quite easy to catch up. Hopefully the next one will be just as good.
Luv luv luv
Great read. Loved the characters. They are so full of life. Hope all the ancients have happy endings. Can't wait to find out.
Good Job Christine
Sometimes you know how the plot will progress to the finale. This one kept me wondering all the way to the end. Good Job Christine.
Review
Can't wait for you to do Gary's story. It is nice to see you using other Carpathians that you have mentioned in previous books. Would like to see you using the younger Carpathians in your next book.
Can be sexually explicit to some readers!
Absolutely love Christine Feehan's books! The richness of the details, the personalities of the characters, the amazing details keep you riveted to the story! And then...you are hungering for more!
Another Epic Love Story...
Emeline Sanchez never felt worthy of love. She grew up homeless and hungry on the street and that marked her forever. Even now, living under the protection of Tariq Asenguard and surrounded by Carpathian warriors, she knows that she’s living on borrowed time. Because if anyone discovers the secret that she’s hiding, she won’t make it out alive. Her dreams are becoming more real and are filled with visions of the one man who both frightens her and ignites her desire. After a harrowing attack on the compound, she would give anything to believe that they were meant to be. Dragomir Kozel is one of the most ancient and feared of the Carpathians. His scars tell the tales of all of his sins - sins that he committed to protect his race. He never thought he would be one of the fortunate ones to actually find his lifemate until her voice brings him out of the dark. He’s going to fight with everything he has to protect her and her secret. Even if it means his own destruction. In Dark Legacy, Christine weaves another epic love story that is both steeped in magic and sizzling with her signature heat! Dragomir and Emeline’s story is a tale of sacrifice, of longing and finally of redemption. And it’s because of this unforgettable combination that the Dark series will always captivate us like no other...
Amazling
I loved this book. The characters are all wonderful and it makes me want my own Carpathian man to love me that way. I can dream. Is next book ready yet?

Ancients
OMG!! This was amazing. With all the new ancients and psych women being lead to their lifemates, this series is growing stronger with every additional couple. Can't wait for the next story to unfold.
Great Story
This was one of my favorites! I like how it incorporated so many new characters to love! I hope it set up the scene for several more with these characters since multiple story lines were left unresolved!
Great book!
Love this series!
Literally a page turner👍
Wow! Loved the action, suspense and drama. Each page brought a tension as to what would happen next. Sexy, thrilling, perpetually at the edge of my seat with each new page turned. Could not put down this book at all.
