ok

Very pleasant series. These aren’t the type of stories that astound you with their trickery. It’s a pleasant little mystery.

A real who done it

Fun read that will keep you guessing. I was in suspense right up to the unveiling of the murderer. An enjoyable experience

I liked this book

Although this is not my usual type of book, I found it clever and easy to read. The characters were fun and made for a nice respite. I may read more in the series.

So Many Secrets Revealed!

I am really addicted to this series! It has everything a cozy mystery could want - intrigue, memorable characters, a small town setting. What makes this series even more delightful, is it’s a British Cozy. There is just a difference in a British Cozy - it’s like stepping into an episode of Midsomer Murders on the BBC. The village of Peridale is a picturesque, & seemingly peaceful place on the outside but one filled with many secrets & murders. Julia South, aka The Cake Lady, has never met a mystery she could walk away from. So when a bludgeoned body is found at the construction site down the road from her cottage, Julia finds herself once again drawn into investigating. As Julia races to find the murderer she brings to light several other secrets, including one that will impact her personally. While I enjoy the mystery part of the story, what draws me back is the incredible relationship between the characters, especially between Julia, her fiancé Barker, & their soon to be adopted daughter Jessie. Author Agatha Frost has another winner in Cupcakes & Casualties!

Great Addition to the Series!

This is the 11th book in Agatha Frost’s “Peridale Cozy Mystery” series and I think it is the best! It was wonderful to go back to the quaint village of Peridale! Frost writes so very descriptively that the reader is able to “see” the village, the shops, people and scenes. The plots are unpredictable and I have never been able to guess who the murderer is. The best part of this series is watching the development of the characters and the relationships between them. Even the minor characters are well drawn. The people talk like real people. Nothing forced or unbelievable about them. I could barely put this book down! Now I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! If you have never read a cozy mystery, you must try this one! This book can be read as a stand-alone but once you read it, you will want to go back and read the entire series! Fabulous book and series! Kudos to Agatha Frost!

Cupcakes and Casualties

Another wonderful book in this awesome series. Agatha Frost is such a amazing author. I highly recommend reading any or all of her books. Loved reading this one..?

Pearls don't glitter...

I enjoy these series but I really don't enjoy when authors don't think. Pearls don't glitter, they are very soft and non-glittery.

Great book

This was a wonderful book. I enjoy following Jessie and Julia through there life. Being a baker, foster mom, and a smart lady Julia is a great lead character. The setting for. This series is great. I have loved them all. Now off to start the next one

So far, this instalment of the Peridale adventures is my favorite. There were a lot of situations that went on from the typical self-image crisis to relationship problems (third-party issues, etc.) I also loved how Julia’s family dynamics evolved yet again. Not to give to much away, I’ll end this review with how I appreciate the fact that Ms. Frost showed how the beauty of the heart trumps the beauty of the skin. I adored how she was able to write about how superficial it is being of a ‘prima donna’ rather than being of serious worth with just by being humble.

The story is great and it kept me guessing who the killer was

Spoiler: The story is great and it kept me guessing who the killer was. However, on my copy of the book, Chapter 14 had a confusing read. When Alfie was talking to the hooded person, it looked like there were more then just Alfie and the hooded person. The word "they" was in place where I would have thought the word "he" should have been. I believe its just a misprint but it did confuse me. Having a surprise relative come into the mix will make it great for future story lines. Looking forward to the next one.

Julia brings home the baking and solves the murders at the same time! What fun.

I love this peek into village life in the U.K. That Julia owns/operates a bakery selling amazing sounding goodies does not hurt either. I have not missed a book in this series, and am pleased that the romance is going well, as is the adoption process. Of course there are a few issues to be worked out, in addition to the murders. I do like that the gore is kept to a minimum in this cozy mystery and Julia saves the day, with a bit of a risk to herself, Can't wait for my next visit to Peridale. I miss my friends there already.

Okay

Once again to much repetition into past books. I'm getting to the point where I'm only reading the book s to finish the series. Not sure I'd suggest this series to any of my friends.

Wonderful Story!

Another Triumph success! I found with a lot of series they start to wane down and become a little more predictable with each book. This series is the exception to the rule. The Peridale series just keeps getting better with each book. As I finish each new book. I can't help but think there's no way Agatha can top herself, but she does! I hope this series never ends!! I already ordered the next one. It's going to be a long April. LOL! I see a television series in the future.

Pack your bags for another adventure in Peridale!!!

I have just returned from my latest trip to Peridale and I had a FANTASTIC time! The eleventh book in the series will not disappoint. I was still guessing who the murderer was right up until Julias reveal. This book will get you right in the feels with the added drama and twist of the Julia/Jessie storyline. Thank you Agatha for another wonderful trip, my bags are ready to go for the next adventure!!!! I have a feeling there are so many more trips to Peridale in my future!!! * I received an ARC for my honest review *

Great relaxing read with just enough mystery and to keep ...

"Cupcakes and Casualties" is the 11th book in the Paridale Cafe Cozy Series. The entire series is a clean, engaging and enjoyable read. Each book give a general reference to the previous book so that one can set the stage and tone for the current book without having to read the previous ones. Great relaxing read with just enough mystery and to keep you wondering "who done it", while expanding on the colorful cast of characters the make "Peridale" home.

I enjoy Agatha Frost

I enjoy Agatha Frost;s books very much. Her writing is always clearly thoughtout and also she always injects humour into her stories. Love her characters. Also love the print style, it is so easy on the eyes,as are the covers of her books. I am sorry #12 is in kindle only as I like to hold a real book in my hands. Thanks Agatha for many pleasant hours spent in Peridale !

Sensitively deals with difficult subjects

So, any of the Peridale cozy mysteries can stand alone but why do that? In each story Julia's relationships evolve a bit more until the reader really feels invested in her life. Cupcakes and Casualties addresses modern development crashing into rural tradition, betrayed love and gay coming-out and denial. Whew! Pretty darned timely for dear little Peridale! Just one of the things about Agatha Frost's writing that keeps me looking forward to the next book after this.

Wonderful story

Once again I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Peridale Cafe and spending time with all of the characters. Agatha Frost 's writing brings you into their lives and for a couple of days you feel like you are part of their family. If you enjoy mysteries, you will find that this series is for you.

Cupcakes and Casualties

Peridale #11 Cupcakes and Casualties was a great read as were the other ten. Agatha Frost continues to keep me baffled up to the end when the name of the killer is announced. It seems like a nice little place to live but there sure are a lot of bodies turning up. I'm also learning the Kings English as I try to figure out some of the words that have a different meaning in the U.S.A.

I love all the books by this author

I love all the books by this author. She make's me feel like the characters are real and l could be friends with all of them. You just can't put this book down once you start it. If you are not reading her books please try this series. You will never be disappointed. Share this series with your friends it's so nice to be able to talk to your friends about the story.

Joann Fluke did it again!

I appreciate being able to enjoy believable characters and a clean suspenseful mys; no graphic sex nor foul language. Joann Fluke delivers!

Murder--Stranger and Friend--New Family--Puzzling Behaviors--Delight

What a marvelous continuation of life in Peridale for Julia South and her family and friends. As ever, Agatha Frost has written a charming, scary, sad, and exciting cozy mystery that one lives side-by-side with the characters in the story. A surprising diva comes to town and life continues its rocky pathway, and a new family member comes into their lives. Read ... you'll love it!

Twists and turns

This series is by far my absolute favorite I have ever read. This book, in my opinion was one of the best! The addition of new characters, along with old favorites, and the twists and turns we follow them through made me unable to put the book down! I also really liked that this book was longer, any excuse for extra time in Peridale!!

Great cozy

The Peridale Cafe Series is fantastic. I adore the characters, look forward to each new book to find out what they are finding themselves in this time. The stories are fast cozy read and looking forward to the next. ❤️📖

Truly Good Read!

I loved this book. I read a lot and sometimes I just want a good fun story. Cupcakes and Casualties introduced some nice new characters that I hope will stick around for the future. There was good character development and true to Agatha Frost a lot of suspects. If you want a nice fun read, sit back and enjoy!

Love that peridale

This book was enjoyable, not up to the interest factor of the others. It had a very different pace to it. Not my favorite, so I'm looking forward to the next of the series.

Not as good as the first 10

Not as interesting as the first 10. Too boring and not as believable. Too many characters that didn't seem to mesh together and no romance. Leaving that out was a mistake

Another enticing and entertaining Peridale Cafe Mystery by Agatha Frost

This story is about Candy, a diva who is building a house on Barker's demolished cottage site. Shane, the construction boss, is murdered and Julia looks for clues to find the killer. Other familiar people are in the story. Jessie finds out more about the adoption and her family history. Katie and Sue seem to be on better terms. Julia is looking at wedding dresses and trying to find the perfect one. Barker is still writing books. Overall it is a very good book. It is easy to read, interesting and cleverly written. I would recommend this book if you liked the previous ones.

I love the mystery, but I love the family story line that continues throughout the books.

Julia does it again. Why they haven't hired Julia to work on the police force as a consultant yet is mind boggling. DS Christie is so annoying. hahaha A murder occurs once again in Peridale to an outsider. Then there is a second murder. Julia actually did a pretty good job of trying to stay on the periphery while still asking her questions. She, of course, figures out what is going on. I have to admit that I had an inkling about the killer at one point. I didn't get all the details right, but I am getting better at thinking it through. I love the mystery, but I love the family story line that continues throughout the books. It is so fulfilling to watch the relationships between Jessie, Julia and Barker's relationship strengthen, and to see Julia repair her relationship with her father and his wife. Despite all of the cozy mystery type drama, I love the relationship realism. I am continuing to love these stories! I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC I received from the author

Great Cozy Series!

This is one of my most favorite Kindle Unlimited Cozies. If you haven’t signed up for Kindle Unlimited but you love ebooks and finding indie authors you should look into it. I only pay $9.99 a month to read TONS of books! You can cancel anytime and sign up again when you want! This is the 11th book in the Peridale Cafe Mystery series. The people of Peridale do not like change. But when a famous washed out actress decides to build a very modern house where Barker’s cottage used to be a lot of people are upset about it changing the feel of the town. Of course this is a Cozy Mystery and it wouldn’t be right if Julia didn’t have a murder to solve before the local police. A body is found at the construction site and Julia may have been one of the last people to see him alive. Not only does she have that on her plate but she also finds one of the construction crew eerily familiar!

Another Great Mystery

This is the 11th book in the Peridale Cafe Mystery Series. Big changes are in store for the quiet town of Peridale. Many aren't happy that a famous actress comes into town intending to demolish Barker's historic cottage in order to build an obscenely large house. The Peridale Preservation Society is protesting this build, however, it is clear that their attempts are futile. There is no stopping this construction. However, days within the start of construction, the crew's foreman, Shane, is murdered. As per usual, the town turns to Julia to try and solve this murder, at it is clear, the detective in charge has no clue. Between the actress, preservation society and the architect keeping their own secrets, Julia is finding it difficult to uncover the truth. Most challenging to her is that what she does uncover ends up turning her own life upside down and threatens to disrupt the life she has worked hard to build in Peridale. Holy cow what a mystery this turned out to be. I was not expecting it turn out as it did. Excellent work by Ms. Frost for bringing this mystery to life. Reading this series has me loving cozy mysteries, when I usually would not have given them much thought or priority. Well done!!

Decent

A dead body, a mysteriously familiar stranger, secrets, and not-so-secret secrets...when is Julia going to have time to just enjoy planning for a wedding and new motherhood? The characters are fine, if one-dimensional, and the mystery yields a few surprises.

Perilous times in Peridale

I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review. This is a lovely series and only gets better with each new book added. That is also true with this book. Julia and the rest of the characters are fantastic, have been well developed and added to over the life of the series. In addition to the regular characters there are certainly very memorable ones and this time is Candy, Shane, Alfie and a few others. I really like how much Katie has kind of been accepted by the family. The story is always well written and fresh. Although Julia and Jessie have a story together, I also like that they have seperate stories to be told. Kim makes another appearance in the book, you can't forget her. And there is good news all around. Well, except for the murder victim and maybe another. It was absolutely wonderful how Jessie's story developed in this book as well as how things may go in the future for her. Peridale sounds like a wonderful place, that is, unless you are to be another murder victim.

Love this series

Wonderful read following characters you love. Mysteries are OK but lacking in clues and insight all the way up to Julia solving everything. Would recommended to those who enjoy following characters through series.

This was another pleasant visit with the folks from Peridale - nice to see new characters and deepening relationships emerging in the series. Enjoyed reading it with a cupcake(s) and a cup of tea (not peppermint licorice, I'm afraid!).

Exciting, Smart, Funny!!

This series is showing no signs of waning , and to me that is a fantastic achievement. Cupcakes and Casualties is exciting, smart, funny and again delivers a mind twisting mystery that our favorite cake lady finds herself embroiled in. The relationships that have bloomed and been nurtured since the very first book have become the heart and soul of this series. This mystery brings us some shocking new revelations that rock the dynamics of Julia, Jessie and Barker. A stunning development that will surely excite every fan! The murder of a lead construction worker for a fading diva of the actress' new house on the plot of Barker's old home that was destroyed in a ferocious storm is the catalyst for this devilishly delightful story. A mysterious tattooed man who looks to be prime suspect and the town of Peridale all star struck by the famous new maybe resident has Julia juggling maybe more than she can handle. The payoff is worth it in the end! Another fantastic entry.

Might be the best in the series

Might be the best in the series. Clean cozy with some good character progression. I enjoyed the ever expanding family ties, and the mystery was a good who done it!

Wanting to figure it out

Interesting writer, I did not figure it out at all. I enjoyed the characters and the diff terms then what is normal herein the USA. Look forward to reading more of her books.

Quirky mysteries

Fun mysteries set in the English countryside . The cast of characters is a hoot and a bit reminiscent of the 'Stephanie Plum' family dynamic.

Cupcakes and Casualties

Another interesting visit with Julia and family in Peridale. I really enjoy this series and look forward to each new book.

Agatha has done it again!

This book was so good. I borrowed it from kindle last night and finished it this morning. I could not put it down.

Four Stars

I enjoy the stories and the characters

WOW just WOW.

Finally Julia is back better than ever with so much going on that I felt like running in circles. After reading each book, I always tell myself Agatha WILL NOT be able to top this and I'm proven wrong each and every time. After waiting, impatiently I might add, for this book I found that I could not put it down. I wasn't a fan of Cozy Mysteries until I started reading this series and I am so glad I took the chance. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this series just keeps getting better and better and I hope it never ends! Well Done Agatha Frost well done and keep them coming! An ARC copy received for an honest review.

5*

Well, murder is the name of the game again and this one has Julia stumped. Until one clue kicks everything into place and now she has to stop the person from running. And before it's too late for someone else. This series is so so good.

This is a great addition to the Peridale Cafe series

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my review. This is a great addition to the Peridale Cafe series. I love how each book is a story on it's own (the murder), but also continues each characters story. The mystery keeps you guessing until Julia cracks the case. The books are so descriptive from describing each characters emotions and personality and the description of the location, weather and the great cakes that are a part of each story. If you love a good cozy mystery and have not read the Peridale Cafe series, you need to get started. You will love them and soon be as anxious for the next book as I am!

Star Building Home in Peridale

She might if she could settle on a design before she drives the architect crazy. She might if she doesn't run out of money. She might even have an affair with her contractor until he's murdered.

I love me some Agatha Frost and Julia!

I love this series. Julia is such a great amateur sleuth. She always finds her man/woman and while doing so we get treated to the unfolding story of her relationships. The characters are robust and intriguing. The universe of Peridale is exquisite. So far, I've not guessed the killer in any of Ms. Frost's novels, unlike most murder mysteries I've read through the decades. The only thing is, I'm always left wanting a big slice of the chocolate cake that Julia's man, Barker, gets set in front of him daily!

Great sequel as always

This series is a fun read. Like the new characters and of course always a mystery to solve. No gory details and nice relaxing read. Look forward to the next one.

Another absolutely great book in the Peridale Series

Another absolutely great book in the Peridale Series. Multiple mysteries going on at the same time. New character comes into the lives of Julia and Jessie. Wonderful developments in the lives of Dot, Barker and the others. Can be read as a stand alone book, but if you haven't been following Agatha Frost's Peridale Cafe Series, you are missing the development of something wonderful. Catch on, catch up and enjoy the life and mysteries in a "cozy" British town. You won't be disappointed.

Best one yet

This was my favorite book in the series so far and they just keep getting better. Although we do have a couple of mysteries to solve here, much of this book concentrated on Julia and her family, with some surprising and heartfelt situations for all involved. I adore Julia’s family and really appreciate the thoughtful way the author has developed these characters. The mystery here was interesting and contains several red herrings, leading the reader on a winding road to the satisfying ending. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.

Julia Does it Again!

Agatha Frost has turned out another page turner and Julia aka " The Cake Lady" has solved another murder under the noses of the local police. I love a clean read and a happy ending. You won't be sorry you picked this one up. Good job, Ms Frost. Thank you!

I loved it!

A return to Peridale is always a joy. This is one of my favourite cozy series. This series just keeps getting better. I love the characters and their development over the series. The whodunit was top notch, intriguing and kept me interested and guessing! This latest offering is one of the best yet and I cannot wait to read the next one! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

More Vintage Julia!

Julia is back to solving Peridale’s murder mysteries when a builder ends up dead on Barker’s old cottage site. It seems like whenever new people show up in the village, someone is going to end up dead! I really love this series and the quirkiness of the villagers. The characters are always so engaging and the twists never seem to stop popping up. I just hope Julia’s little family she’s found for herself can endure all of the new dynamics.

Cupcakes and Casualties

Another great book in the life of Julia! Barker is a saint and the rest of the town is crazy! They’ll need to start advertising their town as a murder mystery experience!

The best Peridale book so far!

I love Agatha Frosts books. I was able to get my hands on an ARC of Cupcakes and Casualties and wow what a great story. All I will say without giving anything away is be prepared for Julia, Barker and Jessies lives to change in a big way. Maybe all of Peridale. Read this book. If you love cozies, this series is for you.

Right on track

I love this series! The characters of peridale are awesome and i enjoy each new book and getting to know them! I love the storyline of Jessie's past and knowing julia worrying about losing her was awful! Julia has the keen sense to figure out the mysteries of who the murder is! Ms frost please give us more about Julia barker Jessie dot sue and everyone else !!!

Peridale Cafe Mysteries continue

Julia South is at it again. Candy, a famous actress, has bought Barker's old place. She is knocking down what is left of the house and building a new place. Construction barely gets started before the head crewman is found murdered. There are other developments in the lives of the main characters. Another great mystery in the Peridale Café series. Don't pass it up.

This Could Make an Excellent TV Show!

Yet another excellent read from Agatha Frost! She tends to have a great blend of mystery plot and real-life goings on, coupled with prose that has only improved throughout this series. Peridale Cafe is among a small handful of cozy mysteries that keeps me paying for the Kindle Unlimited subscription. Seriously, someone out there pitch this to the BBC! I know *I* would watch this show quite regularly, as long as there wasn't too much executive meddling.

Very enjoyable read

This series is very enjoyable to read. I enjoy the characters and the writing style. I really do wish that each book would include a recipe.

awesome

I love this series, I lost interest around book 5, and now I’m back and I love the story, I really enjoy all the characters, I love how this plot develops, and I think that this sets up for some interesting things in the future.

Good book

This is my favorite book in this series thus far. I enjoyed the family dynamics between Jessie and her family and between Sue and Katie.

Wonderful!

The reason I like this series is because everyone seems so real. It's like listening to a friend tell you about their life. Each situation is something that could really happen and everyone's feelings and reactions are true and not hollow. In this episode, Jessie finds out she has a brother while Julia solves the latest murder.

My favorite cozy series!

I love this series, the characters pull you right in to their stories. Julia is so relatable, not your typical perfect heroine. Her flaws make her even more lovable and I want to go right over and have some cake and tea with her! I am so excited when there is a new release in the Peridale Cafe series!

Good

What wonderful new characters for this story and murder mystery of course. How they do make an interesting story with melodrama in more than one mini drama after another. Enjoyed it.

Better and Better!

I love this series so much! Peridale and it's residents feel like a good friend, like home. This was another great addition. I love the family dynamics and the growth of the characters. The mystery was interesting and intriguing to solve. Looking forward to the next one!

That some thing new and exciting happens in each book.

I love the Peridale books! I like how all the characters mingle together and show love for each other. They are exciting and events happen to Julia and others that could only happen in Peridale. Agatha is a great author and really cares about her fans. Can hardly wait for next one!

Even better than expected!

I never get bored with this series, and this installment was even better than I had hoped. There were some twists I never saw coming (Sue and Katie are becoming FRIENDS?!) and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Can't wait for #12!

Such a great cozy mystery series

Such a great cozy mystery series!!! Once I start reading each book, I can’t put it down. The characters are so well developed that they feel like true friends. I look forward to each new addition to this fabulous series!!!

Great Addition to a Great Series

The Peridale series is excellent! Julia and Barker are great characters (well, they all are), and I love Gramma Dot. This particular installment adds some twists and turns that I really enjoyed. Can't wait until the next installment!

Cupcakes and casualties

Enjoyed another book of the series Peridale cafe cozy mysteries. I really did not have a clue to the murderer. The characters made it interesting and on your toes at times. Please read the series.

She tries to keep her nose out...

I was missing Peridale and its crazies. Once again Julia has been dragged, reluctantly, into a modern mystery. I love the balance between Julia’s family and the murder storyline. Billy has become my favorite reformed delinquent.

Great series

New construction, New people in town, a new diva in town, Jessie gets a shock from the past, and Julia is head first into a murder

Great continuation of this series!

I just love this series and this book is just as wonderful as all the others. It is great to see the characters evolve and interact with each other. As I was born in England, Peridale reminds me of the village I visited almost every summer vacation.

Quick enjoyable read!

I love cozy mystery stories and found this one enjoyable! I am looking to read many more from this author. I recommend this book to fellow fans of the "cozy mystery".

Outstanding!

I love the twist of Jessie finding her brother.

Another wonderful visit to Peridale

The latest in the series is the best! The characters continue to develop and mature, the mystery is satisfying, and the readers wishes to be transported there permanently!

Fantastic but missing something

Fantastic books. I think I've read all buy book 12 in just 1 week. However, I think think they would be even better if there we recipes for at least the title baked good.

Lovely book.

I really loved the story. I am so glad Jessie gets more happiness in her life. I think we need great books like this. Keep up the great work.

Cupcakes and Casualties

This was probably one of the authors best book by far. It had a great storyline with a whodunit ending. This is a must read!! Can't wait for next book!!

Worth the wait

A little slow at first but the mysteries kept me intrigued. Surprises and fun until the very end. Can't wait for the next book

A delight as always!

Love the characters of Julia and Barker. Jessie is a little too nice for a knocked about street child. The series continues to be a favorite relaxing read.

Great read!

Looking forward to the next Peridale mystery. Following all the characters from book 1 through book 11 has been fun.

Five Stars

Another entertaining mystery in the series that is thrilling without being scary! Can't wait for Book 12!
