Counting With -Contando Con Frida (English and Spanish Edition)

I bought this book to read to my 1 year old, since I am a native Spanish speaker and I am teaching my son Spanish as well. I expected more about Frida in the book, but it only includes information about her until about #5, and then it becomes very generic. It counts clouds, leaves on trees, ten toes, all of which can be applied to anyone, not just Frida. It's a fine book to learn numbers, but I wouldn't pay $10 just for that.

This unique little book came to me lovingly wrapped in orange tissue paper with a Yogaso Logo sticker and a personally written "Thank you!" from the seller. Love Frida, and will try to pass her story along to my grand daughter. Love this series of informative books with a bit of bio thrown in to make it interesting for children and adults alike. Kudos Yogaso!

I love the idea of starting a new language as early as possible, and being in San Diego - learning spanish is a must! This little book is not only sturdy and well made, but the designs and content are seriously adorable. It's simple enough that a child would easily learn from it, but also detailed enough to be a good lesson in language. Plus - it's a cartoon Frida, I mean come on!!!

This has become my daughter's favorite thing in the world. She is 10 months now. She loves and will sit down for a decent period of time to "read" this book. She loves to chew on it too. Her favorite page is the "portraits". If she is getting into something she shouldn't, all I have to do is open the book and she will stop what she is doing, and crawl to the book with a huge grin. It keeps her entertained and it's great at teaching her new words in Spanish. It's a board book and I purchased it so that it could be chucked, thrown, and chewed on for this little girl. It has held well, with the exception of ripping on the cover, but that is from a persistent teething baby who will chew on anything! I think the colors are engaging for little ones during this developing time. Great job! I cant wait to purchase more of the Lil Libros books.

Buy it! I adore this woman and this is a great introduction to her. The pictures are precious and it spells out her life in small ways. I gave it to my niece who I hope can one day embody the fearlessness and independence of the woman we call FRIDA!!!

My 14mo boy likes it. The quality of paper and print are really nice, I would say better than average for board books. I get to teach them the numbers in either language, count with him and talk to him about other cultural things like the Casa Azul, etc. He pays a lot of attention because the graphics and the colors are very attractive. I also have the Cantinflas one from the same publisher and they're both very nice.

Beautiful illustrations and I love that there’s a culturally significant figure tied in to learning numbers. Additionally, you’re getting some vocabulary words to go with your numbers. It feels like a three in one book because you’re learning about art, numbers, and vocabulary.

I was disappointed in this. I bought it for my son's math teacher who is having a baby and it's boring. The pictures are lack luster and the items being counted are random. They don't really relate to Frida at all. I'd look for something else.

Our 11 month old loves these books. We bought 3 for Christmas and she flips through them daily. The drawings are great and the contrasting colors are beautiful. Simple words in Spanish and English. I think it’s a great introduction to vocabulary in two languages!

This book is make well; the pages are smooth and sturdy. It has beautiful and baby-friendly illustrations. I love that it’s in both Spanish and English so both my husband and I can read it to my daughter (he’s just speaking Spanish with her).

Cute book but nothing special about it. A stylized number on the left pages and drawing on the right pages. One line descriptions in both languages.

Perfect book for 1-3 year olds learning how to count in both english and spanish. Numbers and letter are written big and legible. Pages and are coloful for any toddler who loves reading books.

My son enjoys this book SO much. We count the items in the pictures and he gets to hear both English and Spanish. Beautiful, vibrant colors are used and the pictures take up just enough space. Will buy others in series after getting this one. Highly recommend!!

Each page is a story to count an animal or thing (e.g., one blue house - una casa azul), from 1 to 10. It's brief but nice. I wish Amazon sold more books by the author.

These books are AMAZING! I read these with my very young cousins and students. They really love the pictures and enjoy reading the words together. However, I feel they're very short and there is no storyline. Just words in English and Spanish. I know they're for young kids but it would be nice to have some story to make them useful for longer. But the pictures are fantastic and they're still wonderful. This one in particular Reviews/teaches colors, objects, and numbers in Spanish and English.

Good quality nice artwork

We have 3 books from Lil Books. We love the first one (Catrina) and is very good to teach with it. Later we got Zapata to teach the colors but it is actually the worse books for that. The basic colors are not even complete and the red color is more like a wine color plus other details. This book has nice images but the drawing of the number makes it complicated and confusing to really teach the numbers (as you can see in the photo I attach). In addition the background have also design so the numbers are not clear at all. Is like going to the eye doctor to make that test to check the vision. I only provide 2 stars because this books is teach numbers and that is actually what the book will not do.

Cute! I have bought 3, only liked 2. This one, I like. The art work is 5-Star Cute. The art is big, colorful, easy. I smiled when I saw that one of the Five Portraits which, on one of the five, has Frida with deer antlers. I can see the big smile when the child grows up to see the real portrait of Frida with deer antlers. Not to take away from the Stars but the book is missing Frida's monkey. I think the One Casa Azul could be eliminated for One Brown Monkey. The color doesn't even look blue, it looks purple and it's hard on the eyes. Also, the fancy numbers, scrolls to form the digits, should just be SOLID numbers. The red 6 is horrible. So bad are these numbers, I'm knocking off 1 Star. So far, my favorite of these books is: LA LOTERIA. Didn't like the one with a caricature of Emiliano Zapata, whose artwork needed tweaking. This one is good but needs improvement.

Lovely illustrations, warm while uncluttered. Doesn't talk down to kids. I try to make my kiddie library as diverse as possible and this is a gorgeous addition.

The quilty of this book is worth every penny. The illustrations are cute and colorful. My 6 months enjoys when I really this book to her cause its easier for her to flip the pages. I can stand the book up so its a great incentive for tummy time.

Before I bought this book I knew that Lil Libros books only have one or two words on each page. I have the book Loteria, and my baby loves it! That book's theme is a bingo type game that uses pictures instead of numbers and letters. So each page is one of those pictures and then the English and Spanish word for whatever is in the picture. It doesn't tell a story, but that's okay because the theme doesn't seem to require a story line. It's just a simple first words book. My baby loved it so much that I bought Counting with Frida. I suppose because this book wasn't about random pictures, and more about a person's life I expected the illustrations to be sequential so as to tell a simple story with the pictures... but it doesn't. That being said, all the pictures do relate to Frida and there is counting... but it all feels a little random without even a simple story line. On the plus side, the pictures are cute and colorful. The length is perfect for baby's attention span. And the baby doesn't care that there isn't a story line, but it does make it less enjoyable for me to read to her.

I wish the book was a little longer but it's very cute

The Frida book is so cute. The colors are vibrant, the theme is creative, the pictures are fun and I love that it’s bilingual. My two year old loves the book and I’m glad it will last him a while. I love that I can teach him about some aspects of my culture in such a subtle and easy way.
