As each new stage of technology builds on the last, advancements start to progress at an exponential rate. In order to know where we’re headed, it’s essential to know how we got here. What hidden stories lie behind the technology we use today? What drove the men and women who invented it? What were those special moments that changed the world forever?
Dagogo Altraide explores these questions in a history of human innovation that reveals how new technologies influence each other, how our modern world came to be, and what future innovations might look like. From the electric world of Tesla and the steam engine revolution to the first computers, the invention of the internet, and the rise of artificial intelligence, New Thinking tells the stories of the men and women who changed our world with the power of new thought.

Great book, but some facts shoud have been better checked.
"Robert Noyce left Intel in the late ’70s. Today, Noyce is eighty-nine years old and thoroughly enjoys fishing." In fact, very unfortunately, Robert Noyce died in 1990 at the age of 62.
Unbiased review
Was a huge fan of the YouTube channel but I read books with an unbiased and low expectations no matter who wrote it. When I read it, it just made me appreciate my life so much afterwards, so much so that I cried in joyfullness. The book covers on how pretty much all famous inventors and some that aren't well known. This book showed that we are much more capable than what we think we are capable of.
Wonderful overview of technological development and trends
I discovered Dagogo's YouTube channel, Cold Fusion, about a year and a half ago. I appreciated the way he weaved story-telling with images and video. I was delighted to find out he would be offering a book about the history of technology. Just like his videos, his book is perceptive, engaging, original, and easy to follow. The book is a unique overview of the fascinating technological world in which we have come to live. Highly recommended for anyone interested in connecting the dots in regards to technological development and trends.
Lots of knowledge to be had in this book
Took me 2.5 days to read this book and in those 2.5 days, i learned so much about the history of technology particularly computers, of which i knew nothing about. Even though there are a few typos in the book, i would not have considered giving this book anything less than 5 stars.
Great Book
I have been watching Cold Fusion videos on YouTube for years. Dagogo is a gem. This book is great. He presents a ton of technology and some of the stories behind. I also snagged the audio book as well, I just wish he would have the author would have read it aloud as his voice is pretty rad!
It was very enjoyable!
Short and concise, if I can give it 4.5 stars I would. Since that's not an option I'll give a 5. Mainly because of some minor things like grammar and disagreement about Ripple, ripple is not a blockchain, perhaps my own opinion.
Fantastic read on technology and the world we live in!
I am loving this book Dagogo! It's a great read, just like his YT channel his writing is concise and easy to follow. He makes complex technological marvels easy to grasp for the average reader. Makes you feel good about yourself and where we are going :)
Wonderful, insightful and concise
I’m a massive fan of Cold Fusion and was looking forward to when I could get my hands on this book. I’m delighted and thoroughly enjoyed one of my favorite subjects through the lens of historical context. There are some minor details that I think might have been oversimplified but overall any fan of ColdFusion’s YouTube Channel will enjoy this read. Enjoy!
A chronology of tech's advancement
This book was a good read. It is implicit from reading it, that the rate of technologically change is increasing. And I defiantly learned somethings. Reading it made me feel excited about the future.
what a great book
I am 100% happy with the book and have told my friends and family (who are subscribed to ColdFustion) that its a must read blew me away with how fast technology advances. and Nikola Tesla was the true MVP.

Great Book, for tech minded people and teens especially
Awesome book covering the history and progression of modern technology. Would highly recommend especially for teens or anyone whos interested in technology. Like watching a YouTube video about interesting tech but a whole books worth.
Well written and organized. account of the history of technology and the immanent future.
Dagogo keeps with his high standards from YouTube to the written word. Truly a great book on the account of technology and the emerging future and the effects we can anticipate on humanity. Cannot wait to read version two on 5 years.
Interesting Read
Awesome book, and interesting topics he's covered.
A great read.
If you love technology you will love this book. I'm not a reader but when ColdFusion talked about it on one of their videos I new I was going to like it. If want to know more about the history of technology and a look into the future of it aswell you will truly enjoy this book.
interesting book
I am not through - book is interesting
Educational
I like how this book broke down technology's history.
It's easy to read and understand.
I appreciate the presentation of the Technological evolution and how that has changed our lives!
Great read!
Excellent for anyone interested in Technology. Thought provoking and insightful. I thoroughly enjoyed reading New Thinking.
A brief history of a lot of things
Dagogo's first book and I loved it. Great read and goes fast.
Amazing book
Very well written. I really liked the collection of all the ideas.
Great Read
Great read from one of the most tech-passionate individuals on the planet. Would recommend to anyone interested in how we got to this point in time.
Good One. An easy to understand tech history.
The author has narrated the tech revolutions very well. Main stories, big idea and so on. It's also entertaining just like his channel.
Amazing
From link in your YouTube video to here i Can't wait to read your next book and I also like your video on how big is samsung
Well researched and informative
The book takes you on a journey and really gives perspective of how we ended where we are as humanity
Definitely recommend this to the curious ones out there
Amazing read and I love your videos on YouTube! One of the best channels I’ve come across on the platform since my 8-9 years of using it.
Nice Work!
Just perfect! Things worth to know. Fantastic work from Mr. Altraide.
Well-written from a contemporary point of view.
Good treatment aided by knowledge of the author's in-depth awareness of current trends.
Good book, but almost too inclusive.
The reader for the audio-book version is very good. He sounds like he should narrate How It's Made. The history of WW1 felt unnecessary, at least in such detail. Its relevance wasn't really apparent. The history of Volkswagen is a little drab. So, the company got big. So what? What did that really change? And what does Hitler have to do with new thinking, especially as it applies to the advancement of technology? That wasn't really made apparent either. I appreciate the inclusion of AR/VR and 3D printers. I believe they are the future. I've believed it for many years now. As someone who studied theoretical physics for three years, I can say that the part about the quantum is wrong. I mean, what the author said is very mainstream, but I don't believe it's true or that it'll ever result in anything. Plus, Feynman is overrated. He'll fade into obscurity once it comes out that most of the mainstream interpretations of quantum mechanics are wrong. Anyway, it was a good book. I enjoyed it, and it gave me something to talk about.
Great Book with some room for improvement
This is great book that does an excellent job of showcasing the development of technology throughout the decades. The only reason I give it a 4 star is because I felt that there was something off about some of the presentation of material and I feel that there is always room for improvement. All in all, would recommend this book to anyone curious about the progression of tech and recent history. Keep up the great work Dagogo!
Where's the Dagogo Narration?
I just got this on Audible and started listening and was like who is Ron Butler? Your voice is way cooler Dagogo, been a Coldfusion TV fan for years now. Have you considered putting out a version where you narrate it? Thanks for the great read though!
Favorite new quick read book
I enjoy the Cold Fusion youtube videos on various technology companies and thought the book had a good premise. I liked the book as it has a focus on the creativity of engineering wbich is often not written about. I would recommend this book for any aspiring emgineer.
Unputdownable From Cover to Cover
I have the Audible version of “Cold Fusion Presents: New Thinking” and I must say, besides the captivating and well-developed historical content, this is perhaps the best narrated audio book I have listened to.
Selective and shallow
His manuscript needs more thorough fact checking. The book is a selective and cursory review of some of the 20th centuries more significant technological advances.
The best book I have ever read!!
It is like reading the summary of technological advancements happened in every decade.
History about technology. Amazing!
This book is awesome. We'll written and hard to put down. If you like history and technology then you need to read it.
Great book for leisure reading
Opens up my mind about the technology world we're in. Definitely a great book to read, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine times.
10/10
Dagogo is a gift to the world, a true gem. Cold fusion is my most favorite YouTube channel. New thinking is an absolute must! “Cheers guys” 10/10
Its new thinking
A book that actually got me back into reading, incredibly interesting and informative however the flow is sometimes a bit odd with the short connecting pieces however overall great book, I hope you do another
Don't bother, just watch the youtube channel...
If you watch the ColdFusion youtube channel then don't bother buying the book. Everything that is in this book is also in the videos, but the videos cover more details about each topic. If you're not familiar with the videos and prefer reading, get ready for a book that touches lots of topics without getting into much detail on anything. It is also written from a very wester world perspective. Generally very dissapointing... :(
Good read for both non-technical and technical minds.
One of my friends recommended this book to help me improve my knowledge about complex ideas and understand historical and today’s technology and innovation. It is an interesting book for a person like me who does not have much technological knowledge. The book is helpful for curious minds and the language of this book is easy enough for beginners or non-technical person to understand. The narrative of this book is captivating and brings the stories of brilliant thinkers (famous and forgotten) to inspire the reader. I recommend this book.
Concise, educational and entertaining :)
Was fairly new to the YouTube channel when this was launched but I really enjoyed enjoyed it. Great read for anyone who's into science and tech. As a Product Designer, it was great to learn more about the origins of tech we take for granted and the story behind the pioneers. Not too intense, not too hard to understand, concise, educational and entertaining.
Too many errors to feel I can trust it.
I enjoy his YouTube videos and this book is written in a similar way but I think there needs to be a more thorough editing done. There's too many errors to make me believe everything I'm reading. For example it says in one point that "in 1991, movies like titanic, lion king, Forrest gump, men in black, jurassic park, home alone, the matrix and toy story were released and have all remained classics." I think this is clear that it should be saying the decade of the 90's rather than one particular year.
Great book, easy to read and understand 5/5
I have been watching Dagogo's YouTube channel for a while now and have always enjoyed the way he breaks down difficult and complex topics. The book is easy to digest and properly sourced, which is very important for a book that covers many subjects. I hope there is a plan to write another one in the future. Cheers!
OVERVIEW OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS
A wonderful distillation of the progress of technology - narrated in an informal, but informed manner. Helps to bring perspective to the rapid pace of changes in our societies.
Great read, and very addictive.
I have to say, this book is a must read for anyone that loves science and technology, I finished the book within a week. It's well written and Dagogo explains things without too much jargon. I learnt a lot not only from a technological side but for general knowledge as well. Dagogo, if you're reading this, please do a book on the great Nikola Tesla.
Light but Rich reading
Super delighted to have purchased this book from one of the most respected Technology researchers on Youtube - "Coldfusion TV". Amazing read for a general overview of history being told through technology and amazing and easy vocabulary.
Tesla the God of inventions
From past, present and to future generations inventions in depth. Many thanks.
Fascinating
A brilliant book, taking us on a journey through the years, showing how great minds have made modern life's technology happen.
Clear history of technologies that most impacted humanity
An amazing book that takes you through the inventions that most impacted humanity going decade by decade for the past 200 years Highly highly recommend !
Just buy the damn book already
Absolutely fantastic read, love cold fusion and this book is a masterpiece
Great book for one who wants to know where it all began.
Lots of respect and love to Dagogo. He impressed me with every video he ever made on YouTube. Many of us take technology and things we use now a days for granted. But if you want to know what and who built the foundations, and that lead to new discoveries that made next generation in technology possible? You better read this book. Amazing work by Dagogo Altraide. Thank you so much and keep going. We want to hear more from you.
Let's start off with what it is and what it isn't.
It is a brief, concise history - a chronology of sort - of modern technology from the industrial revolution, spanning over the information age to where present day research on quantum computing, machine learning that culminate with the author's speculation regarding the future of tech, science, its morality and impacts on our aspects of our daily lives. Central premise of the book is the allegory that we get to look farther by standing on the shoulders of the giants, that every once a while, there comes around a pioneer, a prime mover who produces something groundbreaking that's unprecedented for the time, how most of gadgets and tech of today are refinements, fine-tuning on their predecessors. Good thing is that the book does not go into very many tangents while explaining the origins, developments, less-known facts, nuances, clearing up misconceptions, so it is incredibly simple to follow. This makes it a fine addition to your repository of information. You can very easily refer back to any specific discovery, invention, gadget, innovator, when in doubt, when you need input from this book to support your debates. Now what it isn't. I lent it to somebody. He returned it saying it's simply a journey of evolution of tech. He found nothing remarkable in it. And that's what it is. It's not a sci-fi novel. It is nothing out of the ordinary. Just a factual account of progress of tech. The history of few is muddled with controversies, the author clears this up for us while opening our eyes to what was forgotten in time. The amount of inventions the author has managed to cram in, most of them are not known commonly, named among are scientists, common unlikely heros who contributed to making the present day what it is. If you are subscribed to the ColdFusion channel, now you can support the author by purchasing the book.
First book of it's kind.
I only have praise for this book because it has presented technology's impact on human society in a way that I never came across in any book or any documentary. However there are SOME NEGATIVE points as well. In the introduction page itself it wrongly presents Elon Musk as the founder of Tesla Motors which he is not and it leaves many technologies and many companies that will have a great impact on our future. After this I recommend reading "Abundance".
Great Overview of technological progression and trends
A great read of the advancement of technology that shapes our modern world. Similarly to his videos, Dagogo Altraide does a great job in giving a high overview of a broad range of technologies and its impact in a way that is easy to follow. Reading this book reminds me of a theme in science I was once told by a teacher that our understanding of science and society as a whole is not by a single person but rather built by various people building up on each others' ideas and works to get where we are today which the author also states in the concluding chapter. "In this book, we've seen how our current world was built by those who stood on the shoulders of previous innovators". After finishing the book, there's only one slight disappointment that I have which is bias on my part which is the influence Linux has in our modern society. As a person who touches Linux Systems on a daily basis, I am sadden that the book did not mention the importance of Linux but that does not change my appreciation of the book. I would recommend anyone who wishes to know the history of technology in an overview and not be overwhelmed and boggled with the details and specifics of each technology to take a read of this book. I have learned a lot from the book and also from his Youtube channel and learned of innovators who are often forgotten by the general public.
Would not recommend
A short history of technology for beginners. The quality of the writing is fairly poor and it seems like there was no editing done at all, there are many typos throughout and subheadings that aren’t in bold while the rest are, etc... I’m a big fan of the YouTube channel and if you’re looking for information on modern or future technology there are much better books out there.
The greatest stories in existence- a story that is still continuing
This is an amazing book,it covers basically every invention and the story of it's inventors who made our life easier,a life which we take for granted.I came to know about Dagogo from his YouTube channel and when he announced about this book I was so excited. This book is not just about facts,it's told in a way that it will both educate and inspire the thinker in you.I hope a sequel to this book is released in the future.Thank you so much Dagogo.
Awesome leg replacements
Cold fusion is a great book.it tells the history of all players who invented the produces and he his life experiences and the incredible legs he invented.
Overall an amazing book from Dagogo.
Amazing book. Just love how everything is covered from the industrial revolution to quantum computer. Awesome book. I came here from his youtube channel. And both are worth checking out.
A Great Read
The book tells the about the progress of technology from past to present and a glimpse to what future holds. It starts with the foundations laid before 1900 and then the further chapters are divided into decades, describing major technological leaps that took place in each of those decades. If you are a guy who gets fascinated by technology... you will definitely love this.
Intresting Read
The author goes through how the human civilisation shaped into the current modern world in a very intresting way. Reading this book felt more like reading a science fiction novel. Although we know what is written in this book is more or less the events that shaped the current world into what it is.
A fantastic read
This book explores the history of out modern world discussing the innovations and creative thinkers who discovered and invented them. The book takes the reader from the industrial revolution through to the modern day, taking the time to touch on each milestone and the inventions that lead to it. The book won't make you an expert on Quantum computers but it will help you understand why it is important.
A log of technological evolution of recent history
A log of technological evolution of recent history with the hint of satire. May help those who strongly resist change.
A delightful book
If you’ve been an aficionado of the YouTube channel ColdFusion by the same author, then I could tell you that the book kept the same level of quality. Otherwise, this is a good way to get to know the author and his work. An amazing piece that you’d rather discover by your own (No spoil).
A must read book!!
The contents are very well chosen and the chapters feels like his voice narrating in the mind just like his youtube videos! Dagogo has done a wonderful job! Do enjoy the read!!
One of the best book I have read recently
One of the best book I have read recently. If you like science and psychology you will love this book.
Awesome
Great book, which gives you an overview about the history of technology. Great writing style
Great Book
This a great book for someone who is curious about the evolution of modern technologies. I am a subscriber of ColdFusion TV on YouTube and like his videos too.
Amazing
The history and the future of technology. In one book. It's very entertaining to read it and research more on the topics that the author has written about.
Technology
Amazing. Condenses major technological advancements and credits their contributors in a single book. Received in good condition.
Great book and well organized.
Great book.
Superb writing
Feels just like a coldfusion video in longer form. All the same objectiveness and great research.
Since the invention of steam engine, everything had changed the way world work today.
Dagogo.
Great work!
It's a must read for anyone interested in learning about the history of technology.
Informativ und gut recherchiert.
Das Buch gibt einen ausführlichen Überblick über die Entwicklungen der Industrie bis in die Neuzeit und der Digitalisierung. Gut und interessant geschrieben. Empfehlenswert.
A Cut Above The Rest.
Clearly the best and most innovative book I've read so far. Worth every rupee (or penny depending on where you're from). A must read for anybody interested in Science.
Blank pages
It a great book, but there are multiple bank pages in the book. Suggest you to purchase from another vendor.
