College, Fresh Spring,
Word Count: Almost 90,000

The seventh book in the Lee Corcoran series, follows Lee Corcoran, a freshman in college during his spring semester at the University of Michigan whose life is not going totally as planned.

If you want to understand everything, reading the previous six books is the only way. The books follow Lee and his best friend Darby, a girl.

As a freshman in high school, Lee became involved in a girls cheerleading program as an advisor and trainer where he was reluctantly introduced to crossdressing. Lee found that he enjoyed the softer side of clothing. Circumstances forced Lee to wear a feminine wardrobe in more and more situations.

Spoiler alert [if you have not read the other books]

Throughout high school, Lee dated women, participated in cheerleading, was the starting shortstop on the baseball team for four years and wore women’s underwear and outer clothes virtually all the time in his senior year.

He and his friends accomplished a lot. Lee ended up being the head cheerleader.

Over time, his best friend, Darby, learned of Lee’s preferences for certain feminine attire.

Lee is attending college and dressing 100% of the time as a female student. He is active in Cheerleading and has been asked to pledge several sororities on campus. He and his best friend Darby are now a couple although they do not tell everyone on campus. Lee is living in a girl’s dormitory with other cheerleaders.

Lee and his friends are preparing for collegiate competition cheerleading while personally, he and Darby need to decide how to handle all the invitations from sororities. Later in the semester, Lee and Darby plan to play baseball. They have done a lot of modeling and surely there will be more requests for their services.

This story deals with a reluctant crossdresser who tries not to sacrifice his manhood while enjoying his unusual choice in clothing.

This book tries to deal with cross-dressing as part of a real life.

Given the ages of the characters, the story does not involve explicit sex.
Young adult readers should be comfortable reading this book.

**********

The Cheerleader series follows Lee Corcoran as he grows, matures, and experiences life from pre-high school through college. The main characters in this story will be recurring in other installments in the series.

Enjoy

The latest chapter in the lives of Lee and Darby........

This latest chapter in the lives of our two cheerleaders proves to be just as compellingly well written as the previous six. The relationship between the two continues to be strong, with new friends falling into their circle and becoming devotees of the Lee Corcoran fan club. Their relationship with their parents changes, with Lee especially asserting himself as an adult - but we’ll have to see how this plays out as their summer break begins. Will Lee and Darby be able to continue sleeping together, or will their parents continue to pretend that their relationship hasn’t reached that stage yet? But the bigger question is will Lee’s masculinity continue to erode as he falls deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of living as a woman? How will he present during the summer now that they are no longer living on campus? Has all the time he has spent with the other girls over the years, and his past nine months living as a girl at school prove to have become so ingrained in his every day life that he can no longer appear male? Only part eight will show us any of these answers.

Still a great series!

This has been a fun ride and I look forward to many more, as Lee & Darby attend college. Although I'm going to list some errors, below, these were small potatoes and the book is still 5 stars. Renee was written with 3 e's in book 6 but is almost only 2 e's in book 7 (Rene) "that were turned down by" should be "that turned down" "Mam" should be "Ma'am" "cheat cheat" (all 2-3 times) should be "cheat sheet" The college is U Mich, or the University of Michigan, not Michigan University. "Michigan football players beat again" should be "Nebraska football players..." Cut ALL commas following "as well as" [too many commas throughout] "Woah" should be "Whoa" In the first baseball game, there are 2 outs, so no reason for a double play to end the inning; the forceout ended the inning "tray of tray of" --cut one At the sorority announcement, "Erin dove into her mother" should be "Darby dove..." Sorry for blaring these errors publicly but I have no direct way to contact you. Sincerely

Best surprise this holiday season!

Yes, it was a couple days late for Christmas but I don't care! I found this book to be just as much fun as the previous six. There are a couple of things that puzzle me. One is that Lee and Darby haven't acquired four-wheeled transportation yet. Since they accompany each other most everywhere, they should have no problem sharing one vehicle. It would certainly help to facilitate their extracurricular activities such as visits home or the children's hospital. With their income from modeling, they would have no difficulty affording a good used one. However, the author has hinted that she will address that in the next book. The other thing I am curious about is: How did the high school competition cheer team do now that Lee and Darby are not there to lead them? I would presume that Lee and Darby would have attended the regional performance to support their former juniors and this was simply omitted from the story. This is not intended to be a criticism. I just think it would be fun to know. Maybe it could be mentioned in the next book in a conversation with Sylvia. This is without a doubt one of my favorite series.

Santa came a few days late

But I forgive him because he brought me the latest Lee Corcoran book! His second semester at Michigan brings new and even more challenging adventures for our crossdressed hero(ine). Full of relevant and funny experiences for Lee and his friends, especially June who has become a favorite character on her own. Lee's character remains consistent and lovable. Any minute I expect Lee and Darby to break out singing the Pussycat Doll's 'Don't cha' except they are too self-effacing to do so even if it's true. There was so much going on that the cheerleading almost got lost in the shuffle. Never fear though our intrepid hero(ine) is making big inroads in his college life. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Another great book!

this is another great addition to the series! I really appreciate that the author took the time and the effort to delve into Lee’s feelings regarding his situation. I eagerly look forward to the next installment!

A new chapter

Lee starting college go to sorority to pledged, try out for cheerleaders and she not even a girl . He find out college is much like high school but much worse, in competing way. Lee might be the girl, as she appears to be.

Can't say enough good things...

Can't say enough good things about this series. The story has developed seamlessly from beginning to current #7. It is a pleasure to read and in fact, last night I found myself so engrossed in the story, it was 3am before I was forced to put it down. Thanks for writing Lee's story Diane. Looking forward to #8.

This wonderful story hasn't lost its sparkle

It's been many years since I've continued reading a multi book sorry through 7 volumes (thus far...I hope they'll be more). The steadfast friendships gained, the stubborn adherence to their principles of fairplay and hardwork continue to strike a chord of what life can be if we approach it with the correct attitude. I can’t wait for book 8!

Great

Great book After he wins you would they appoint him I guess they weren't ready for all that energy

Totally addicted

The timing of the release of #7 was perfect. I was just rereading the first 6 in the series. The only problem is waiting for #8. 7 continues improbable saga of Lee & Darby. Though improbable it still makes for a great read. Enjoy the ride.

More Lee @ Darby

This is a fun read with a little action and romance Lee @ Darby may be my favorite couple in any series ever!

Cheer for Lee and Darby

Another amazing chapter in the story of Lee and Darby, in fact the only downside to finishing this book is that now I have to wait for the next one (please let it be out soon)

Great story

You need to keep writing this story I am enjoying it Do you have any other transgender stories with multiple books?

Terrific, as long as you've never been anywhere near the real University of Michigan

I have truly enjoyed books 1-5 of the Lee Corcoran series, but in many ways the magic of the storytelling - the suspension of disbelief, the immersion in the world of Lee and Darby - is severely damaged in books 6 and now 7 by the lack of _any_ relationship between the University and town of Ann Arbor that Diane describes and reality. Many of my favorite writers place their stories in fictional places, such as Lee and Darby's hometown. When writers place their stories in well-known locales, there is richness added to the story by the authentic feel of the location. Im originally from NYC, and when a writer details the cab ride from Grand Central Station to the Upper West Side via the great sights on the way, it makes me buy into the story being told even more. But when a story is placed in a real locale, but there is NO authenticity to the author's description, it takes the reader's eyes off of the characters, their struggles, their relationships, and makes the reader disbelieve where the author is going. For instance, I happily bought into Lee and Darby's modeling work prior to book 6. But I found it an over-the-top stretch in book 7. Why? Because the authenticity of the entire story is damaged by the inaccuracies of place that stand out like a red flag. I could detail the inaccuracies, but the list is so long it would get out of hand. Suffice it to say that the geography of the place is wrong, the character of the place is completely wrong, and it is clear that there was no research at all. (I almost screamed when Lee was given a parking pass to the RED lots - there are Gold, Blue, Yellow, and Orange lots - Red is a forbidden color at UofM just as blue is forbidden at Ohio State.) I truly don't understand why Diane placed Lee and Darby in the very real U of Michigan, or why she didn't do any research. Michigan has the biggest alumni association in the world, and the number of people who have spent time in Ann Arbor is legend. You'll find UofM bars in every city in the western world. Turning on a football game on Saturday would have even helped just to hear the band and hear the crowd cheer. Michigan's fight song and cheers are iconic and easy to find online. Here are my biggest issues: At the real U of M, Lee could easily go between female presentation to male presentation without it being a big deal. The University and town are among the most liberal, progressive, accepting places in the US. His hometown in rural Michigan would be far less tolerant of his crossdressing. His trip from High School to College would be a much easier step - one in which he could be much more free to present however he wanted. Similarly, there would be no stigma at all for Lee and Darby to be perceived as a lesbian couple. See above. Why such a struggle when everyone important to the two of them (cheerleaders, family, coaches, sorority sisters) knows the truth? Is there something wrong with being perceived as a lesbian? From the way Darby is written, I don't think she would care less. Her love is wonderfully characterized as of the purest sort, and she often proclaims that love to be independent of Lee's presentation, perceived masculinity or femininity, etc. Finally, and this has no bearing on location, I'm concerned by the author's language when referring to the transgendered as potentially changing genders "on a whim." (chapter 4, from the mouth of Lee's mom) When using that language, Sally is clearly trying to help her son be OK with the idea of joining a sorority and is being supportive. But implying that the transgendered are driven by a whim is transphobic. I honestly don't think Diane meant it this way, or I'd knock my review down even farther. I'm sorry to be so strong in my opinions here. This is a wonderful series, and I genuine love the main characters and their dearest friends. And especially the love and loyalty between them. But the lack of authenticity made books 6 and 7 very hard to read. Diane - if you are reading this, please consider adding some authenticity to Lee and Darby's college experience. Or re-write 6 and 7 placing them and their friends at fictional schools.

The latest installment in a great series!

I have been waiting and waiting for book 7, and ... .woohooo, here it is. This book follows Lee and Darby through their second semester at college. I have started reading it for a second time, since I could wait to race through it from start to finish the first time. I love the story from the first six books. My first impressions were that I loved it. From joining a sorority to competition cheerleading (college edition), to modeling. It was all good. This book started to really develop some of their friends, particularly June, Beverly and Lauren which was great. On the very VERY slight downside, it seemed like it was a very rushed book and some detail that was evident in the first six books did not seem to be there in sections. I also noticed that there was no mention of seeing any of the high school cheerleaders during their visits home. I would like to know if they left a legacy of success behind them or not. I just felt it was a little strange that previously graduated cheerleaders came back with Lee/Darby were still in HS, but they did not. Again, not a big deal, just a curiosity. Can't wait for Book 8!!

The best Daring Diane book yet!

This series by Diane keeps getting better! In my humble opinion, this is her best work yet, and I love the first six Cheerleader books! Lee Corcoran and his best friend Darby are developing new friends and are experiencing all that college life offers. Lee is a typical college co-ed (not), who is a cheerleader and caring individual, and along with his BFF Darby, is delving into university life and much, much more. Lee and Darby are faced with opportunities to help others and along the way, find out more about themselves. Lee and Darby's modeling experiences continue and along with the company of friends and family, explore new and exciting experiences. This book contains many surprises, including family revelations that are quite unexpected. Diane brings in many familiar faces to help Lee along the way. Thank you for this exciting installment, Diane, I can't wait for the next one.

Again, a great read

I am a 76 year old male and am very pleased I took a chance at reading the first book. I am not a cross dresser and am totally unconcerned about this subject matter. What is important is reading about the wonderful relationship between Darby and Lee, their adventures in high school and college, and their relationships with their parents and friends. If only everyone in the world could be as wonderful, loving, and accepting as these two beautiful young adults. No more wars and hate!!!

Another good story,but

In some of this story, the author seems to be reporting on this story and bringing new readers up to date on the story line.If the social status of Lee and Darby continues to rise at Michigan,Lee will be forced to either tell every one that he's really a man or exchange engagement rings with Darby and say that they are a lesbian couple. If Lee graduates as a woman,he will have to consider getting realistic artificial breasts.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!! YES, I KNOW THAT I AM SHOUTING!! I CAN'T HELP MYSELF!!!

I feel like I have been waiting forever for this book. It's only been six months. I want to know everything that happens to Lee and Darby, and I need them to be happy.. They should have great adventures, great love, great lives. Can't wait to find out to see how their lives work out. I wish I could go back to college and hang out with them. Please, Daring Diane, drop everything and dedicate your every waking moment to writing this series so that I can find out more about our hero(ines) ASAP. I understand that this may be a lot to ask for, but...please? --Long time reader, first time commenter.

Am the number one can of this storyline it flows well people treating each other with dignity and respect.

This installment was a fast read but still keeps you focused on the plot. I wish more people treated each other this well instead of always being so judgmental. Life is truly too short for the petty stuff. I highly recommend this book for all reader's

The emotional roller coaster continues

This series of books is by far one of the best I've ever read and I'm continuing to hope it never ends. Granted I know it will but until then I will continue to read the series and exploits and the ups and downs. Without a doubt this is one of the best books I've ever read but don't start here start with book one.

Great series

This has been a great read and series of books and hope it continues. I kinda think some of it in these later books could use some more challenging portions but has been very good reading, I look forward to the next book

Another great year (book)

I have been following Lee's activities over several of the books. They are well written and the attention to detail is fantastic!

It is good read about good young people.

I am pleased with all the details involving the main characters snd their inaction with adults who interact with them. Adults today so not seem to accept college students accomplishments.

Another great Read!

I've loved this series since the beginning. Sometimes it makes you want to cheer, other times you tear up, but it's always an enjoyable emotional rollercoaster!.... keep em Comming please!

Very good story.

I have enjoyed reading this series of books.

Another winner

I'm loving the story of Lee. It makes me want to make some changes in my own life. He is just such a good person you cant help but root for him.
