Love the book such Beautiful art and also a good read.

And very simply the best book of its kind -- beautifully produced, with stunning visuals by great photographers, superb art direction and, of course, Dita. She re-invents glamour. It takes a remarkable model and some great stylists to hold your attention through a one-woman "show" like this, but she does it, and looks great throughout, over the course of an unbelieveable variety of settings, wardrobe, lack of wardrobe, styles and situations. Nothing lewd at all, in fact there is no nudity in this book. It's the "teese" that keeps you interested. You will not go wrong, a very, very well done book that you will be happy to own.

If you love vintage style this book is a MUST! The other half of the book is "FETISH and the art of the teese" It makes clear what fetish is really like, brings up to light a lot of the miths and clears up the truth about fetish. It is for mature audiences, several soft core pictures and explicit written content. I recommend this book for sexual self-discovery and the love of the "TEESE"!!!

This book is beautifully written and it's a two sider! One side is a look into the beautiful burlesque relm and the other is a peek into the fetish world. Both sides reference one another and it's nice to see how the two "personalities" intertwine. I bought the book because I have an admiration for Dita and I've always loved the pin up and burlesque style and I was overjoyed when I opened up the pages! The book is deliciously narrated by Dita with a peek inside history, costumes, corsets, stories of the good old days, her attachment to the style since she was a girl and many more gems. The photography is well done and she gives tips and styles to become one with the cheesecake burlesque style and a fetish style. The fetish side of the book turned out to be my favorite of the two. Dita made it so simple to see how fetish has grown into a chamelion of sorts and it's not all about whips and gags, it can be about sky high heels and rubber outfits! There is more a desire to be the damsel in destress and not all punnishment (although it is encouraged as long as it doesn't harm you!) I reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in the culture and lifestyle that Dita is keeping alive! Drink it up!

Dita Von Teese is truly an American Aphrodite in every way. This is a hard cover coffee table book. Dita models the burlesque fashions of nearly every decade of 1900's and provides interesting commentary regarding the fashion. Other than a butt in profile, the pictures are erotic simply because Dita is a goddess.

Dita Von Teese again shows her excellent taste in her homage to classic strip tease and her fetish photos. She explores the entire range of burlesque from the 1800's through the 1950's with great attention to the details which make the looks authentic. This book reflects the pride Dita takes in her profession.

This book delivers. Turning the glossy pages was like stepping into a fantasy world. The burlesque history is tied in nicely with Dita's own experiences. My favourite parts were the makeup tips on how to look like a burlesque or movie star from the 20s to the 50s. The photography is amazing all throughout. The other side, the dark side if you will, of fetish is portrayed in a light that it doesnt often get. Nothing crude, actually no full frontal nude images. Everything is tastefully done.

I had this book before but I must've leant it out and forgot who has it. So glad I was able to find it on Amazon at a reasonable price.

The photography is superb, the layout is fantastic, the concept of two books in one is wonderfully unique. Buy this one in hardcover before it's gone and you're forced to buy a cheapy paperback later - an outstanding book and magnificently produced.

If only more Hollywood stars took some pride in their appearance and looked up to Dita for tips, Hollywood might see a return to it's "golden age". I love her hair, it's always so shiny and in place. Her clothes are to die for, she knows just how to put everything together just so. She always looks as if she just stepped off a photo shoot. Any helpful hints and suggestions I can get from Miss Dita will be so helpful as I too have a fondness for vintage clothing, shoes, gloves, jewelry, etc. Thank you Dita for sharing yourself with us. This is a great book! This is a book of larger size, full of prety pictures of Dita. The text in it is quite mixed, a bit of fashion histroy, a bit of tips on burlesque, a bit of make up construcions and a bit of personal stories. It gives a wide spectrum of Dita`s interests. It`s great as a start, gives a knowledge base you can go out of and start your personal research, but don`t expect a book that describes burlesque from the tip of it`s toe to head.

This book is a gorgeous addition to any coffee table or collection, its filled with beautiful pictures of amazing burlesque dancers and their fabulous attire! I love it!

If you are a fan of DITA, burlesque, modeling, style, fashion, or photography this is a must own. It sat on my coffee table for years, but now is art on my wall.

Dita could teach a number of them about research and writing ! The writing fit the book . It was well written for anyone to enjoyable read and her work ethic also shows in the photos . Those of us who watched Creature Feature will love the 50s page movie type photo. Only wish for a few more ...see it an you will think old movies like Them, Blob ,etc .

As a fan of anything and everything Dita, I had to get this book, and I'm so glad I did! Strongly recommend it. It's not just for Dita fans, and not just for people interested in Burlesque. She discusses the history of Burlesque and Fetishes, she shares personal stories and influences. It's filled with some of the most beautiful and stunning photographs imaginable. It's a picturesque trip through history as illustrated, and written, by Dita. She also has great tips on etiquette and behaviour, she discusses all sorts of fashion. It's not a biography about Dita Von Teese. It's an expansive and thorough book, artistically displayed. For those who are curious, there is nothing "offensive" in her book, not in the least. The entire book is quite tastefully presented, articulately written, beautifully photographed. It's a large book, and it has a permanent place on my bookshelf. I have read it several times cover to cover, and will continue to. In fact I still pull it out. She expresses grace and gratitude.

Fun book!

Besides being in love with Dita already this book is executed beautifully. When I purchased the book I didn't even think about the fact that she had actually put words with those pretty pictures. After reading everything she wrote it got me more inspired to get my modeling up to par and start working harder to become the vixen I want to be.

Although this book is filled with text along the sizzling photos of Dita, it took me several days to actually start reading it instead of just looking at the pictures. This is no cheap approach on the matters of Burlesque and Fetish: this is as glamorous as it gets. Dita von Teese is stunning in every single photograph!

Dita looked great in the images, as she always does. Personally I appreciated the autobiographic aspects of the book as well, as alot of her take home message is that any woman from moderate beginnings can become a glamour puss vixen. I think however, in her efforts to rehash the history of Burlesque, she missed quite a few of the more fringe performers throughout the ages, which was unfortunate. Perhaps in an effort to keep her content more high brow, I suppose. I would have loved a deeper exploration of the relationship between herself and other performers, as that would help this book seem less one dimensional. Definitely a great book for a fan, but not a good Burly 101 book, not by a long shot.

For fans of burlesque, this is a phenomenal book. The pages are thick and deliciously glossy.. the pictures even more so!

For not knowing who Von Teese was, I was really knocked back by the imagery of this book. Great wardrobe, awesome colors, and great shoots make this a must have to show and talk about with others. I bought this for my girlfriend and Im glad I did. Well worth the price.

This is a very well put together book about a very erotic and beautiful pin-up and fetish model, Dita. One of the better books I have bought about erotic sexual beauty, and yet can actually be displayed on your coffee table. A very nice addition to your pin-up model book collection, and a blast from the past.......

She tries to walk a fine line between respectable and risque and the result is not always as interesting as it could be.

Gorgeous Coffee Table book. Pictures of exotic, elaborately done costumes of an era goneby. Dita tells about her life before becoming the famous Burleque Queen who married Marilyn Manson for a short time. Had the pleasure of seeing her perform twice in New York City and autograph this magnificent book. She is an amazing artist. The other side of the book is a foray into Fetish, so there is something for everyone's tastes. Fabulous photography and such an inspiration to the glamour of old style Hollywood Burlesque.

'Burlesque and the Art of the Teese / Fetish and the Art of the Teese' is a stunning look at the history of both Burlesque and Fetish from the point of view of one of the most famous models and Burlesque dancers of today, Dita Von Teese. It has stunning imagery and is well presented, without being lascivious or in poor taste. This book is class all the way. The various sections focusing on the history of both arts are fascinating, with information you would never have considered and you can tell Dita is both knowledgeable and passionate about her art. If you're a fan of Dita or just interested in Burlesque or Fetish then this is an excellent place to go, and though slightly unorthodox, this would make a wonderful coffee table book. Dita Von Teese (real name: Heather Sweet, but to all her fans, she's just "Dita") has loved vintage clothing, sexy lingerie and burlesque all her life, and over the last decade has become the true queen of modern striptease, reviving the glories of 1940's and 1950's fashion almost single-handed (when she's not peeling it off in one of her routines!) As webmaster of a site devoted to opera gloves, I especially appreciate her love of long gloves, which feature in so many of her tens of thousands of pictures. "Burlesque and the Art of the Teese"/"Fetish and the Art of the Teese" is, as the title implies, really two books, devoted to what you might call the "nice" and "naughty" sides of Dita. Side 1 is basically a historical overview of burlesque and striptease, profusely illustrated with gorgeous color and B&W photos of Dita in her persona as the heiress of Gypsy Rose Lee. Side 2 is devoted to an appreciation of fetishism, especially as it applies to the kinkier side of fashion, and is equally profusely peppered with "naughtier" pictures of fetish-queen Dita. If you're a serious fan of Dita, you very likely already have this book, so I'm preaching to the choir. :) If you're not yet a serious fan but are interested in burlesque revival or fashion fetishism, definitely do get this book!

Burlesque and ... is an absolutely lovely book. I love the fact that it is two books in one. Dita von Tesse has breathed new life into an art form that some thought dead. With her incredible sense of style, amazing costumes and love of fashion, the viewer is treated to the art of burlesque and history as well. The flip side is more of a fetish feast that is done in a very fashion forward way, which I loved. Lots of rubber etc. I love this book for it's unique approach and for not not being tacky or trashy. Dita presents the art of burlesque in a classy way that is simply, well, Dita. Highly recommended.

Okay, I know I'm going to get hauled out for this from many fans (b/c let's face it, mainly Dita fans bought this book), but I found this book to be a lot more impersonal than I wanted or expected. Now, that by itself shouldn't be a problem since sometimes there are pleasant suprises when things are not as you initially expected them to be. However, as a person who has followed Dita's career from the start, there wasn't any information here I didn't already know about both Burlesque and Dita. The photos were beautiful, but I already have great Dita photos. This is basically what the book was: photos of the author w/ the author discussing the history of burlesque.Period. When the author can go about putting photos of themselves in the book whilst the rest of the book is text that requires little involvement from the author(since the history of burlesque can pretty much be handed to another writer to complete the job instead), I don't think I'm getting what I expected or what I paid for. I know many will think, "So what, it's not what you expected, but it's beautiful and has a lot of info many people don't know. Besides, what you expect from the book doesn't concern the author anyway." Well, to that I say the photos are beautiful. The book is big. Anyone remotely interested in Burlesque knows the information put in this book, and I'm pretty sure others were expecting more from this book than the text delivered, but they just forgot after they saw the pretty photos. This is a photo book.

I bought this book for the information on burlesque and it didn't disappoint. Lovely photos of Dita, good information on 20th century Burlesque and some tips thrown in for good measure. I would have liked a little more history on the stars of Burlesque but otherwise, this book is exactly as I hoped. Even the "fetish" side of the book is interesting, even if it isn't your cup of tea. Recommended.

Dita Von Teese is, without question, one of the most mesmerizing women I have ever seen. She encompasses rare beauty that is inexplicable and has style and grace that is comparible to the larger than life women that have held our attention decade after decade.... To hear many months ago that she would be penning her sem-autobiographical book (of sorts) left me panting with excitement. Upon arrival, I rushed to open it's beautiful contents, and was overwhelmed by the incredibly sexy and sophisticated shots of Dita in all of her glory. She takes the pinup style to the next level by including shots of herself in the most brilliant designer avantgarde fashion, Christian Louboutin stilettos and hand made corsets. Her fetish side include her in traditional Japanese Bondage and paying homage to Ms. Bettie Page. One of the coolest things that Dita did while putting this gem together was including her cheesecake burlesque side in one half of the book and her fetish dominant side in the other. All you must do to view both sides is simply flip the book to its backside. Would anyone expect something less from the Queen herself? Certainly not me. I really should own two copies of this phenominal book (just in case I wear the first one out).

I was on the waiting list for this book to arrive and after many months of anticipation, I was not only pleasantly surprised, I was agasp at how luxe this volume is. It doesn't dwell in historical narrative, nor does it showcase ego in her autobiography. It postively radiates elegance and mystery within the burlesque/fetish world. I love how Dita expresses herself sexually, without boundaries, yet cultured. One could pick this book up, open it at random and get engrossed immediately... most impressive.

Dita von Teese's idea of feminism is for a woman to be as feminine as possible. Music to the ears of us lumbering dinosaurs who buy our wimmen clothes to match the decor in the kitchen, and pat them on the head if they haven't crashed the car. Though how this thinking sits with the dungaree-and-spiky-crop brigade, I will never know (Under-arm hair: should they, shouldn't they...oh the agony! Oh the controversy!). 'Burlesque' is a glossy A4 hardback containing hundreds of extremely stimulating photographs of this outrageously magnificent woman. Von Teese sits, stands, lies, crouches and does the splits in all kinds of ropes, chains, cables and ribbons; and of course, this is where the 'empowerment' comes in. Knowing thousands of men will be lasciviously looking at her every artistic curve and mega-defined muscle must be satisfying to DvT...but even more so to her publishers; neo-Emily Pankhursts to a middle-aged man. If DvT's concept of feminism - to wear a tin-foil cat-suit and look vulnerable - isn't pandering to the dissolute, then it's openly urging participation in the even older womanly craft: the expertise of wallet-emptying. It would be easy for cynicism to take a hold here, and the one-star button would be aching to be pressed IF Dita von Teese wasn't so glorious and lush. You'd need the will of Margaret Thatcher or at the very least, be a damn good liar not to admit and appreciate that she's some kind of ultimate of fiscal womanhood. 'Burlesque' simply celebrates that indubitable fact. She's pushing 40 as well; God only knows what she'll release to celebrate her menopause. 'DvT on HRT' perhaps? That's something to look forward to, eh lads....!?

I did't buy this book on amazon, however I saw it sitting on the shelf during my visit in Maine at a local book store. What caught my attention was the Burlesque side of the book. Dita Von Teese is truly the modern day pin up girl. This book, reversible between burlesque and fetish, is informative on both topics, has a direct link to what it is like to live this life with page after page of colorful photographs of the lady herself. A great coffee table book and something to hold on to. I've had mine for 4 years and it is in fabulous condition.

this book is NOT for people who are conservative about nudity and erotic things. it has nude and semi nude photos of dita. it describes the essentials for fetish and burlesque, it tells abit of the encounters that dita been through and it describes her life. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED IF U LIKE BURLESQUE, FETISH, DITA, OR NUDITY.

This woman really knows her business. If you are into corsets and want to learn more about Burlesque or bondage, this is the book for you. What I like about her is that she's honest and she tells you what to do and how to dress, how to wear your make up, etc. In this book you can also see how you don't have to be blonde, tall and blue eyed to be a glamour goddess, like she says, "all girls are beautiful" you just have to know what's best for you. Finally there is someone that can prove that beauty and good taste isn't just what you see on TV and fashion magazines.

Dita Von Teese not only proves her own beauty and good taste in this book, but she also displays her knowledge about burlesque and fetish fashion even back into the 1800s. She remains true to the art of the past. The printing in this book is extremely clear and vibrant and full of interesting facts and information as you scan through the many photographs provided. This book not only goes highly recommended to those that are Von Teese fans, but also to fans of true burlesque and fetish fashion.

I've admired Dita without really knowing much about her hence I bought this book. Its full of beautiful photography. If you love fetish or just pin-up then this book is for you. Its a elegant sophisticated coffee table book. Its a delightful peek into the world of burlesque and teese. Whether you do it or not, its an interesting read.

This book is absolutely beautiful. When I ordered it I had no idea what exactly I would be getting when it arrived; I'm pleased to say though that it was worth every penny. The book in itself is all very glossy and high quality paper, and even the text pages are decorative. I found this book to be over all very visually appealing as well as very interesting and informative as it peers into the history of the art as well as Dita's life and opinions. It's really a bit half and half, written like a documentary but also filled with very intimate and warm stories of this fantastic woman`s life.

A charming book! Whether you enjoy Dita as a model, performer, fashion maven, or fetish superstar, you'll love this. The pictures are gorgeous and beautifully printed. It's one thing to see them on the web, another to hold them in your hot little hands! Mrs. Dita has done it again. She has written a fabulous book. It's full of beautiful pictures, not too graphic, but tasteful and seductive. This is one of thoes books that you just like to pick up and flip through when you have a few moments to spare before dashing out. Inside the book are beauty tips, (Very helpful gals), and good advice on all things vintage from the Queen of Burlesque herself. Very fun and inforative book. Highly recommend to anyone who likes vintage movie glamor or bombshell burlesque beauty.

This book cannot disappoint: lots of stunning photos with tips and anecdotes about stripping, seduction, corsetry, fetish dressing, hair and makeup, and show business. This woman is fascinating. If you're an admirer you'd be nuts not buy it.

I really like this book. It gives you a lot to read and a lot of pictures. It is very tastefully done. I would recommend this book for anyone at all interested in learning about either side. Plus the book itself is beautiful. It is something you could leave out on the coffee table. Some people might think since one side is about "Fetish" it will be dirty or something to be put away when someone comes over, but it's not at all.

I have lots of burlesque books, but this one is such a great take on the historic facts of burlesque and gives some insight on why she is the top burlesque performer! Her knowledge and wit combined with the amazing photographs by the world's top photographers makes this an extraordinary book that fashionistas and burlesque fans alike will adore. This book is top quality, and a great price! Most books of this caliber run about three times the price! It's great to see all the fashion, pinup and fetish photos in one big colorful book.

If you like Dita Von Teese, the art is great in this book! The pictures are very interesting and it's an enjoyable book. However, I do wish that some of her magazine photos were in the book (the pictures were all from on stage performances and other places, but not magazine shoots). I absolutely love quite a few of the pics from tons of magazines that she has been in, and hoped that some were in the book as well. Other than that, it's a fun book to have!

As we all know Dita is an intellegent woman. But she really did her homework when it comes to burlesque. I learned facts in this book, I didn't even know about. I applaude the queen of burlesque, for her lovely photos. I also equally enjoyed her input on fetish. As a fellow Neo-Burlesque Preformer/ Feitsh Model/ Pin-up, I give Dita a pat on a the back. It's a nice adition to any coffee or cocktail table.

I was shocked at just how BIG and fabulous this book is! The price is unbelievably low for such a finely made book! Full color photos on each and every page, gorgeous graphics and what a fun read! This is by far the most exciting photo book I have seen in a long time. It's a perfect gift for any pinup, burlesque, old movie buff or fashion fan. I love that it has two sides, it's two great books in one!

Hints, history, and humor make Dita's book a very charming read. She also shares a bit of her life story, making for an all the more interesting experience. The photos are gorgeous; true art. If you aren't an admirer of Dita's already, you certainly will be after flipping thru this lovely and informative trove.

First off, let me say that the photography in this book was great, very professional, very 'Dita' with her beautiful self-applied style sense in homage to the pin-ups of old. Gorgeous stuff. I thought it was a nice little novelty having the two books in one, also, when she could quite easily have released two separate books to cash in a bit more - nice one Dita. The writing however, was slightly amateurish, pretty self-indulgent (although that can be forgiven since it's a book about Dita by Dita, so really, that's what you're in for), and very surface-skimming. I expected a bit more in that respect, but maybe I'd had a false impression that Dita was a bit deeper than she really is. I was also surprised and put off by her flippant endorsement of wearing real animal fur for pleasure. I mean, does anyone still REALLY think it's OK to kill an animal for vanity? Apart from that criticism, the writing style was of a cute, light read, much like a blog or celebrity magazine article. This is more just a really fun Dita souvenir than anything more, a little cheeky, but nothing you couldn't display on a bookshelf or leave out on the coffee table. It'd make a nice gift for a fan.

This book was a gift to me from my husband and what a great gift it was! It was very cute with a very good history lesson on the history of burlesque. After I was finished reading it I went out and bought my first corsett! It doesn't talk alot about the history of Dita however and for that I am sorry. She is an amazing artist and I would have loved to have learned more about her. I would recommend this book for those interested in Dita or burlesque.

An elegant book by an elegant icon of fetish and burlesque. In the world of pin-ups, this gentleman definitely prefers brunettes, and Dita is the cat's pajamas of her kind. I enjoyed both her writings and her very alluring pictures taken by some of this genre's slickest photographers. Just marvelous.

After waiting almost 2 years for this to arrive, i'm absolutely thrilled. This book is gorgeous, and will be a welcome addition to the book collection of any burlesque or pin-up fan. I'v been a fan of Dita for almost 10 years, and it's wonderful to see how far she's come. This book is full of beautiful photos, and the narrative is light and cheeky.

Pretty photos, but I have to agree with other reviewers who are disappointed that she wears fur, and even endorses the wearing of fur. There's so much chic faux fur out there, why make animals suffer terribly for that sort of Cruella de Ville vanity? I don't know why I thought she was more evolved, but she's not. Looked through someone else's copy to see if I wanted it in my extensive collection of burlesque books + dvd's. I don't.

Content: 3 stars, some awseome photos, but alot of 'filler' images. Layout: 2 stars, general book layout is not an excellant design and lacks an edge that would suit the subject matter and artist. Doesn't have a special or unique design layout, binding or printing that is asscoiated with hardcover editions. This is maybe the reason for the low price. Overall: 3 stars.

I have been waiting for this book for three years, and it was worth it! The quality is very nice, with photos on every page, and the text is very informative and fun to read. An absolute must have for every Dita fan and every burlesque fan!

Although I'm not a sexually driven person by any means, I love theatrical costumes, burlesque costumes included. If you are similarly inclined, this book may be for you. If you're seeking a history of burlesque or fetish art, you should probably look elsewhere--while there are some historical details strewn throughout the text, most of the narrative is autobiographical. Dita von Teese led an interesting life, by her account, so this aspect of the book is no detriment. Even more of the book consists of full-page photographs of von Teese in various costumes: some of them dazzlingly beautiful, some of them extremely revealing, and all of them eye-catching. Almost every page contains an image of von Teese looking glamorous. She never wears the same costume twice. Furthermore, each chapter devotes a page to tips for capturing the style of a female beauty archetype from a particular decade of the twentieth century: the vamp of the 1920s, the film siren of the 1930s, etc. By the way, these tips tend to assume that the reader's skin isn't dark--she who wishes to emulate a vamp authentically, for example, must have deathly pale skin--so one may need to either modify these lists or disregard them altogether. The aforementioned narrative section is what prevents me from assigning this book a higher rating, but not because of von Teese's autobiographical focus. Her choice to write about her personal past is not a problem. The author's sexual politics are what really detract from my enjoyment of the book. In the conclusion to the "Burlesque" half, she states that some people ask her whether her act incorporates any feminist elements. Her reply is that it does IF you define feminism as she does, which is to be as feminine as possible. In other words, the answer is no. Obviously, no one was expecting her to say yes. She's a burlesque performer. Burlesque is a fantasy release, and fantasies do not necessarily take the realities of life into account. They're make-believe. Why she won't simply be honest about her line of work and say, "There's nothing feminist about burlesque, but it's still a lot of fun," is baffling and frustrating. Similarly, the "Fetish" side is also problematic. I take no issue with von Teese's preference for playing the damsel in distress in her bondage scenarios; again, it's a classic fantasy. The sentence that raised my ire was this: "I think that if we could admit that everyone enjoys seeing a naked woman, the world would be a better place." Anyone old enough to be reading this book knows that this viewpoint is patently untrue. Then again, as evidenced by her reaction to LYSISTRATA at the beginning of the "Burlesque" section, Miss von Teese doesn't seem to want to admit that some men simply aren't attracted to women, just as a few of the photographs in the "Fetish" section point toward a trivialization of female homosexuality--as in, they use lesbian implications solely for heterosexual male arousal, a concept that von Teese apparently not only finds acceptable but expects readers to accept as well. On a related note, the gay men who do appreciate women's beauty usually like to see them *clothed*. For those of you who think I've been taking this book too seriously, I invite you to look at the list of von Teese's recommended books in the "Fetish" section. It contains, among other entries, the Marquis de Sade's JUSTINE and Anton LaVey's THE SATANIC WITCH. The former, far from being a "sane, safe, and consensual" adventure, happily details a woman being tortured nearly to death dozens of times, and the latter is a second-person anti-feminist manifesto that tells women that they should welcome men treating them as sex objects. If these are the books that von Teese deems worthy of recommendation, then she either hasn't read them or is deliberately sending unambiguous messages about what she considers her own--and, by extension, all women's--proper place in relation to men. In summary, if BURLESQUE AND THE ART OF THE TEESE/FETISH AND THE ART OF THE TEESE were simply an adults-only coffee table book with makeup and costuming tips and some autobiographical tidbits, I would give it a four-star rating. As it is, I find it too offensive to endow it with a full recommendation.

'Burlesque and the Art of the Teese / Fetish and the Art of the Teese' is a stunning look at the history of both Burlesque and Fetish from the point of view of one of the most famous models and Burlesque dancers of today, Dita Von Teese. It has stunning imagery and is well presented, without being lascivious or in poor taste. This book is class all the way. The various sections focusing on the history of both arts are fascinating, with information you would never have considered and you can tell Dita is both knowledgeable and passionate about her art. If you're a fan of Dita or just interested in Burlesque or Fetish then this is an excellent place to go, and though slightly unorthodox, this would make a wonderful coffee table book. Bought as a gift but I have to admit to borrowing it a couple of times! Wonderful book with some stunning photography. Quirky to have the two halves of the book upside down to each other so you can open on the burlesque side or the fetish side depending on how the mood takes you!

I'm happy with the product accurate description of the book. However, i am not happy with the condition. It was described as a "collectable" to me this means that in tit in excellent condition the book I have received is not. Firstly the outed cover (as shown in the picture, the pink and green one) is missing. the hard back itself has some nicks and scratches. The spine of the book is barely hanging on and some of the pages are sticky with some possible water damage. I am mostly upset because I was deceived the condition of the product does not match its description.

Amazing pictures! I've recently gotten into burlesque after going to my first burlesque show. Everything about it appeals to me from the cheekiness to the music to the clothing (before it's taken off!). Dita is the modern queen of burlesque with some fantastic pictures in a book which just oozes glamour. Dita provides some of her backstory along with tales of burlesque which will inform novices like me and keep them enthralled. It's one monster of a book and worth every penny. I bought this book for myself as I am a fan of Dita von Teese. It is a beautifully produced book with great photographs. Dita von Teese gives us lots of information about burlesque. Would recommend.

Really lovely pictures and interesting insight into the lady herself. A little raunchy but very suitable as a coffee table book (I bought it as a gift, I probably would have bought something a little more risque personally)

For those of us into this . This book was surprisingly great. My Mom went to modeling school so I had some knowledge of these old actress and stuff. Most times you get a book like this it's a few well taken pics and articles any one can find on the web. Not here ! For a person who did not write journalism for a living. Dita could teach a number of them about research and writing ! The writing fit the book . It was well written for anyone to enjoyable read and her work ethic also shows in the photos . Those of us who watched Creature Feature will love the 50s page movie type photo. Only wish for a few more ...see it an you will think old movies like Them, Blob ,etc .

Brilliant Book

Got it within 2 days of ordering- expected it to take about a week. Excellent quality and it's bigger than I thought it would be! :) Bargain too

A simply stunning book, visually a portfolio of some of the best photographs ever taken of one of my all-time favorite models, erotic dance and renowned beauty, Dita Von Teese. Dita does not disappoint, any fact, relevant to the history of burlesque is included here. It is interesting, fascinating and stimulating reading, in fact I could not put this book down. It is also a 'tour de force' showing Dita's deep love of her subject and her research into it, this is no light weight essay on striptease but a fun and enjoyable read on female and male fantasy. The other half of the book devoted to Fetishism has a detailed analysis of such fetishes as stockings, shoes, feet, rubber and leather. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

For starters, this book really is a bargain price: Dita could easily have priced this at £30 or £40. It's a substantial, heavy hardback, full of quality glossy pages. The book is split into two sections- the front is Burlesque and the Art of the Teese, but flip the book over and the book is called Fetish and the Art of the Teese. Each section equates to pretty much half of the book, so there is no preference shown for one or the other. Inside, most of the full page photos are accompanied by a page of text, so it's not just a book of photos, there is also a lot about Dita herself. She reveals her style inspirations, favourite designers, how she styles herself, the history of Burlesque, her favourite dancers, her tips & techniques and some autobiographical detail. All of the photos are very artistic and there is some nudity. If you are interested in fetish, burlesque, erotica, photography, dance or just Dita herself, then I really recommend this book because I don't think you will be disappointed by the sheer scope and depth of this jam-packed book.

This book has fabulous pictures and does contain a bit of information about Dita Von Teese in both realms (back and front book) but I found it lacking information about how you yourself and become a Burlesque dancer ect. ect. This book is more about her and her life in these fields rather than a guide, which her second book 'Your Beauty Mark' is all about. Even though it's not a guide, I'm glad I have a copy anyway.

The book is loveyl but the copy I received did have some faint lining down a few of the pages. The printer rollers perhaps?. Also one page had a little print missing which is why I am giving it four. No I'm not going to return it I have grown attached to it! I think it was a great price for a book that has a cover price of £[...]. As for the pictures they are beautifully done & Dita's writing are a joy to read. For me the book is hard to put down but I am a huge fan of burlesque.

Dita von Teese's idea of feminism is for a woman to be as feminine as possible. Music to the ears of us lumbering dinosaurs who buy our wimmen clothes to match the decor in the kitchen, and pat them on the head if they haven't crashed the car. Though how this thinking sits with the dungaree-and-spiky-crop brigade I will never know (under-arm hair: should they, shouldn't they...oh the agony! Oh the controversy!). 'Burlesque' is a glossy A4 hardback containing hundreds of extremely stimulating photographs of this outrageously magnificent woman. Von Teese sits, stands, lies, crouches and does the splits in all kinds of ropes, chains, cables and ribbons; and of course, this is where the 'empowerment' comes in. Knowing thousands of men will be lasciviously looking at her every artistic curve and mega-defined muscle must be satisfying to Dita...but even more so to her publishers - neo-Emily Pankhursts to a middle-aged man. If Dita's concept of feminism - to wear a tin-foil cat-suit and look vulnerable - isn't pandering to the dissolute, then it is therefore urging them to participate in the even older womanly craft: the expertise of wallet-emptying. It would be easy for cynicism to take a hold here, and the one-star button would be aching to be pressed IF Dita von Teese wasn't so glorious and lush. You'd need the will of Margaret Thatcher or at the very least, be a damn good liar not to admit and appreciate that she's some kind of ultimate of fiscal womanhood. 'Burlesque' simply celebrates that indubitable fact. She's pushing 40 as well; God only knows what she'll release to celebrate her menopause. 'DvT on HRT' perhaps? That's something to look forward to, eh lads....!?

Was in ihrem Buch geschrieben steht, ist nicht wirklich neu und mit ein paar Klicks im Internet auch zu lesen, aber die Bilder sind einfach nur schön. Wonderful Book! Truly beautiful photographs and Dita inspires the burlesque lifestyle.

For those of us into this . This book was surprisingly great. My Mom went to modeling school so I had some knowledge of these old actress and stuff. Most times you get a book like this it's a few well taken pics and articles any one can find on the web. Not here ! For a person who did not write journalism for a living. Dita could teach a number of them about research and writing ! The writing fit the book . It was well written for anyone to enjoyable read and her work ethic also shows in the photos . Those of us who watched Creature Feature will love the 50s page movie type photo. Only wish for a few more ...see it an you will think old movies like Them, Blob ,etc .

As a fan of anything and everything Dita, I had to get this book, and I'm so glad I did! Strongly recommend it. It's not just for Dita fans, and not just for people interested in Burlesque. She discusses the history of Burlesque and Fetishes, she shares personal stories and influences. It's filled with some of the most beautiful and stunning photographs imaginable. It's a picturesque trip through history as illustrated, and written, by Dita. She also has great tips on etiquette and behaviour, she discusses all sorts of fashion. It's not a biography about Dita Von Teese. It's an expansive and thorough book, artistically displayed. For those who are curious, there is nothing "offensive" in her book, not in the least. The entire book is quite tastefully presented, articulately written, beautifully photographed. It's a large book, and it has a permanent place on my bookshelf. I have read it several times cover to cover, and will continue to. In fact I still pull it out. She expresses grace and gratitude.

This book is a beautiful piece of art. Two sided/flip book with great photography quality photos. Dita von Teese feels like the glamorous girl next door.

I absolutely love Dita and this book has beautiful photographs as well as nice commentary/autobiography from Dita. Definitely worth buying.

I think this book is lovely. I am really into both burlesque and fetish and its great to read Dita's words on how she feels about both as the pretty much mirror my own thoughts. Beautiful photography, very well written, witty, interesting, insightful, with some great tips! Long live glamorous women.

I surprised my friend by giving this book to him for Christmas. He loved it. I was very happy it arrived in time too.

表紙と裏表紙は、ショーで見せるタイプの華やかな フェティッシュ系とSMを基調としたディータになって ますが、本を開くともっと色んなディータに会えます。 彼女のボディラインと肌の美しさは勿論堪能できますが、 彼女の顔のメイクも普段ショウでみるメイクと違うものが あり、一人の女性がこんなにも色んな表現ができるのか！ と感動してしまいます。ヘアスタイルも様々。 ３０００円ほどでこの大きさとハードカバーでディータ からのプチコメント付きなら十分安いと思います。 コメントは英語ですが、高卒レベルの知識と辞書があれば読めます。 ※同じ女性で彼女に惹かれてるならとても良い本です

素晴らしく美しい、素敵な写真ばかりです。分厚い表紙でしっかりとした製本で、重みがあります。 商品評価には関係ないのですが、 悲しかったのは、せっかくの新品なのに表紙のかどが潰れていたこと。 箱もべこべこで、アマゾンさんのしっかり梱包を負かすくらいに雑に扱われたようです。書籍自体が重かったのもあるでしょう。 十中八九ヤ◯トさんの扱いが悪かったのだろうとは思いますが。 余計なことではあるんですけど、やりきれないので書いておきます。

とても美しいDita。 どの写真も素晴らしいです。 NYの本屋で探して現物が店頭になく、結局、帰国してアマゾンで買いました。 大変重い本なので、スーツケースに入れて帰るのも大変だったかもしれません。

ディタには、アート性の高い衣装、構図、高級感を踏まえた色々が似つかわしいと思うので、それらがきちんと含まれた写真集でとても嬉しかったです。 BURLESQUEのページはもちろん完璧な華やかさです。 しかし、着目していただきたいのはフェティッシュのページ。 品と高級感を失わずにボンテージやレザーの衣装を纏えるのはディタならでは。本領発揮です。 60ページのゴルチェの衣装も、ディタにしか似合わないでしょう。 FETISH GODDES(写真集)のディタがあんまりにも俗っぽく、がっかりだったので、できるならこちらの11ページのディタの雰囲気のまま、緊縛や金属製の衣装、ラバーを扱った写真集をだしてほしいです。
