This powerful memoir and inspirational guide shares a story of loss, resilience, and life-changing lessons found in the darkest seasons of life.

When Ashley LeMieux and her husband lost their children in an adoption battle, it sent her into a tailspin that, ultimately, taught Ashley how to soar. Most people live with constant fears, burdens, and pains that they try to hide from themselves or others. In Born to Shine, Ashley shares a message of hope for women brave enough to admit that everything is not okay. Because the truth is that even when life is in ruins, people can still shine.

LeMieux tells her story in alternating chapters, interspersed with lessons readers can apply in their own lives. It combines personal reflections and practical tools to help women shine despite the darkness, to press forward one day at a time, and to turn their most painful moments into their greatest teachers and signposts to true, deep, unassailable joy.

Phenomenal message, poor editing

I am such a fan of Ashley LeMieux and The Shine Project! I was first introduced to her story via a podcast interview and have been an avid supporter of hers ever since. I preordered the book the minute it became available and counted the days until it was shipped! The message of the book did not disappoint. It is inspiring and uplifting and will make you feel ALL the feels! My only disappointment is a multitude of typos and errors throughout the book. Further editing should have been done before it went to publish. I hope that she’ll consider this when finishing up the next one (which I will most definitely purchase & love!).

Meh

I desperately wanted to love this book. I follow Ashley on social medica and was drawn in to her story. Love her personality and how positive she is despite the hardships. I was SO excited to recieve and start this book, but I just couldn't get into it. Didn't even finish it. Gave up. Just wasn't for me.

A swing and a miss

The story of Ashley LeMieux’s motherhood journey is heartbreaking and profound, but Born to Shine unfortunately lacks the details and meat, for lack of a better term, that I had been looking forward to finally reading. It’s the same bits she has shared on social media throughout the years. Still gut-wrenching, but honestly nothing new if you’ve followed her for any length of time. I found the self-help parts to be pretty lackluster and generic, and truthfully skipped on over most of them. The constant use of “Sister” in reference to the reader made me cringe. Are men not allowed to read this harrowing tale? The foreword/introduction really could have used an editor! There were several glaring errors that even Microsoft Word would have certainly picked up on.

Wanna change your life? Start here with this book

I feel like certain people and things are placed in your life for certain reasons. I feel blessed that I somehow came upon Ashley LeMieux's Instagram that one day. I needed to hear what she had to say. I swear she could one day be like a Tony Robbins! She's amazing and she touches lives as well as hearts. I bought this Kindle version because I couldn't wait to take a step towards changing my life. Ashley had a very moving Instagram post that day that made me think and at least try to see what a book could do for me, my life, going forward, etc. I hope you take a chance too and take a step towards a better life whatever that might be for you. It's never easy to step out of your comfort zone when it's hard to see the silver lining but it's there, somewhere. Just gotta take some more steps towards it.

Are you ready to shine?

In her book, "Born to Shine", Ashley shares her absolutely heart-wrenching story of how they unexpectedly unofficially adopted two young children into their family and then lost them unexpectantly overnight when they tried to make their adoption official. Ashley shares her journey of how she discovered her inner light through her darkest time. She makes you feel like you are a part of it all as you read her story. You will laugh, you will cry, and sometimes you won't even know what emotions to feel! I really appreciated the vulnerability and realness of it all. Ashley so did not need to go as deep as she did, but I'm so glad that she did. If you are going through a hard time, this book will bring some light to your eyes. Ashley is like a big sister, friend, coach, and mentor all wrapped in one. She shares about how she has learned to embrace the hard times and the good. For she knows that the story isn't over yet. The good news is that your's isn't either! Whether you are currently going through a dark moment or not, I highly recommend this book. It will help to give you perspective on your life and the lives of those around you. You were born to shine!

Uplifting, Encouraging, and Down RIGHT NEEDED!!

This book has all the feels. Ashley has taken her pain and made it relatable to everyone regardless of our individual experiences. No matter your trials, heart ache, or pain this book is going to help walk you through your experiences and come through the other side with a new perspective, a new resolve, and a new found inner strength. Reading this book I felt like I had a friend guiding and encouraging me along. Excellent read and truly uplifting in the best way possible!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Best book ever!!

This book is nothing short of amazing! I’ve read through it once and plan to read it again and do some major highlighting. Ashley’s heart and compassion for others, even when she is going through trials of her own, is simply amazing. It takes a special person to share their heart and the tragedies they’ve endured, for the purpose of encouraging others and letting others know that they are not alone in their own heartache. I will always refer back to this book when I go through my own struggles. I follow Ashley on IG and she has been through more heartache recently yet she still continues to shine and spread encouragement. She’s my kind of people. :o)

Inspiring, Real, Raw, and Uplighting

Ashley has taken the most tragic thing to happen in someone's life and used it to encourage, motivate, and love other women. If you are going through loss or just don't know how to cope with all the things life throws at you, this book will guide you along the path to freedom. Everyone's story looks different, as well as their recovery from the tragedies of life, but "Born to Shine" is one of many tools that can used to help bring you out of the trenches. It's worth the read! I plan on passing it along to a friend who is currently struggling with some losses in her life. I gave the book four stars simply because there were a LOT of grammatical errors in this book, especially toward the end. As a teacher, this drove me crazy.

You aren’t alone

Ashely reminds you throughout her book that you are not alone in how you feel, how you heal or how you grow. She shares her pain with you so you know that you too can get past difficult, hard situations in life. Must read!

The only book you’ll need on your healing journey!

The best book I’ve read in my entire healing journey since I lost my mom at such a young age. I oftentimes didn’t have the words to express my grief, anger, sadness, and loneliness, but somehow, Ashley was able to articulate every single sentence I didn’t know how to. Healing yourself takes courage, but while reading this book, you’ll find that courage isn’t rushing to move on from the pain & anguish; it’s sitting in the pain & befriending it. She does an amazing job of sharing her awful, tragic story while simultaneously sparking hope in her readers. I have already read this book twice!!

Terrible editing

I was so excited to dive into this book! There are so many typos and I’m only on page 25. I genuinely hope the next book she sends to print has been thoroughly edited. I’m finding this one very difficult to immerse myself in.

It’s about all of us

Your book is so connective that I’ve been Venmo’ing people, who are going through a difficult time, money to buy this book. One girl who I haven’t talked to in ten years is going through the unthinkable trauma of loosing both her dad and brother to two separate conditions. Another, is a woman struggling with finding purpose through the darkest season of their life. Your book is about all of us - it’s about holding space for joy and pain, it’s about resilience, it’s about grief, it’s about us all having different experiences but all being connected by the ache of hard things, and most importantly it’s about hope - hope that can be found by us all joining together and finding the light even in the darkest moments. Thank you for sharing your story, and giving us a way to join together and share ours.

Bad Writing

I really wanted to like this book as I had just lost my newborn baby Girl, but I just couldn't get into it. First of all, the editing is horrible. Second, some of the stories don’t seem real. I’m not saying that what they endured wasn’t heart wrenching and life changing, but some parts just seemed made up to fit whatever affirmation she was writing about. I couldn’t even finish it.

An Act if Self Love

I first learned about the author, Ashley, through a podcast. I loved her story so much I bawled through her interview the first time then started it over and made my husband listen to it as I cried through it the second time. Ashley’s story is proof that there can be light and hope in our darkest moments. After facing devastating and life altering trauma two years ago, this book was my first act of self love to try and help me find me again. Her story is open, invitational and leaves room for you to interpret, apply and grow. The only problem is that there isn’t enough book to last forever! I highly recommend going through the chapters slowly (even though it’s so good you could easily blast through it in a day) and taking the time to truly reflect and apply the concepts before moving on. I can’t recommend it enough.

Uplifting, inspiring, cry your eyes out good!

I am near 50 years old. I do not do much social media and only recently started following Ashley on Instagram due to my sister constantly telling me about her story. I recently lost my job after 11 years and I have been feeling lost and empty. I have so much to be grateful for, and a wonderful family but I have still found myself searching for some peace. I purchased this book early in the pandemic and it took me a few weeks to read it, Once I started I cried the entire way through! Ashley writes so selflessly and her willingness to bleed her pain and loss in the pages of this book and on her social media platform has inspired me to start dreaming again about the life I want but have been to “stuck” to pursue. I want to be 100% honest in the fact that I have NEVER written a review on ANYTHING. This book compels you to want to do what this book encompasses, finding courage that is within yourself. This book is written to help people and it has truly helped me. I am thrilled I had the chance to read it and I look forward to the next book written by this amazing woman.

A Reminder To Go Deep

In a world in which we're so quick to judge and dismiss, slowing down to hear all the complexities of someone's heartbreak is compelling. Teachers like Ashley who share their hearts and lives on social media only have our attention for short snippets. A book is like a rich conversation, slowing our hearts and heads, to soak in what the real life shifts are. I wept through the whole book, and ended with more compassion than ever for the hard battles we all fight. For anyone walking through grief, trauma, loss or deep pain, you'll be reminded you aren't alone. Even if the details of your story, or that of your sister or best friend you're trying to relate with more, are different, you'll feel more connected to the real paths we walk through. And hopefully, inspired that through the very hardest things, somehow we can in fact keep going, and one day actually live, laugh and love again.

Life changing

If you are sad... read this book. If you are happy... read this book. If you want to cry..:: read this book. If you want to smile..:: read this book. Everyone. And I mean everyone. Should read this book. Ashley has taken her life experiences and helped illustrate some beautiful concepts and words that everyone needs to hear. I didn't realize how much I needed this book until I read it.

My New Favorite Book

Reading used to be a huge enjoyment of mine, and then school and college happened and it felt like a chore & I hadn’t finished a book, cover to cover and actually enjoyed it since high school. (Even the ones I tried to read for fun.) Anyways, it was my 2020 New Years resolution to finish a book. I follow Ashley on social media and the raw honesty, but beautifully inspiring words that she writes in her captions always catch my attention while I’m scrolling, so I decided that her book would be the first one to start my new goal with. I read every single word, and found myself crying at some parts, and cheering at others. I’ve already recommend this book to several of my friends and they’re all shocked because I don’t ever read. Yes, it is that good. Thank you Ashley for sharing your heartbreaking story & giving me a perspective and practical tools, that left my heart feeling lifted by the end. I will never forget this book.

Uplifting, Inspiring, Tough to put down

I've followed the author of this book on Instagram for a while, and she is such a beacon of positivity and hope despite some really dark circumstances in life. When I saw her book was on sale, I had to grab it. I'm so glad I did. I stayed up late just to finish this book because I couldn't put it down. Her ability to tell a difficult story in a way that grips the heart and also somehow encourages the reader is incredible. Every woman should read this book, no matter what stage of life she is in.

Life giving

To say I loved this book doesn't cover it enough. Ashley, your story is empowering. Your attitude is honest and bold. The way you've suffered yet have does so with Dignity & Grace has encouraged me tremendously. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your struggle has not been in vain, and you have shown me and so many others love. Thank you for being a good soldier of Christ Jesus ❤️

Amazing book

I have been following Ashley on Instagram for a while now and too see her book come to life after reading some of the stories on her instagram felt like I was living through it with her but just with her words. Highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good real life story and needs words of wisdom.

Soft, lovely and healing.

I loved this book. On my Instagram for healing we have a book club. I read it quickly because I enjoyed it so much. Ashley offers soft but tangible healing. Our stories are different but her perspective helped me see so many parallels in how her story could help me heal from mine. Totally fell in love with the LeMieux family while reading this book. Miriam

A Shining Light

This is a woman who has been through a river of isht* and came out clean on the other side. Is it any wonder that people want to know her secret to coping? The book has a few typos but provides unvarnished insight into the mindset that helped Ashley Lemieux survive terrible loss. I recommend.

ASHLEY LEMIEUX IS MAGIC!!!!!

This book had given my life a complete 180 I keep it on my nightstand to thumb through whenever I have a bad day. I have pages highlighted and marked. I have quotes from it written in my phone. Ashley has this amazing perspective that helps you to tear apart and break down in order to build back up. She helps you to know that it’s okay to break down as well as long as you don’t stay there. You’re human and you have to feel these feelings. It’s a beautiful book to experience and it makes you want to fight and shine not only for those you love in life but for yourself as well. Ashley Lemieux is an angel on this earth

Awesome book

Awesome read. Emotional. Encouraging. Profound. Motivating. Truth. I recommend this book to anyone who is STUCK! See your light... as Ashley says YOU WERE BORN TO SHINE. Go live. Be a beacon.

Buy more than one

Great place to start if you are trying to recover from grief or really any trauma that has happened to you. Ashley give you opportunities to work through it while sharing her own powerful journey. I’ve purchased several copies and shared them with friends and family.

Beautifully Written

Real, raw, and beautifully written! Ashley shares her heartbreaking story to inspire others to keep going when the road gets rough. She encourages us all to use what we’ve gone through to shine a light for others as they travel their hard roads!! I read this at the perfect time! It definitely was everything I needed to hear!

How do we endure and live well in the midst of suffering?

If ever you were looking for a book about how to endure suffering, this is it! So often we want to ask the question of 'why' when it comes to suffering, but Ashley flips that question around and asks how do we endure and live in the midst of horrific suffering. Her story is one of raw and heart wrenching pain, but also of hope, endurance and thriving. You will live her suffering and be inspired to push into the things that hold you back from moving forward. As I finished the book, I was inspired to pick up my lifes' dreams and goals and to pursue them with renewed ferocity.

If you're on the fence about buying, here is your sign to buy it!

I followed Ashley on social media for some time before she released her book. I thought she was inspirational on there and then I read her book and was further blown away. I am amazed that someone would put their story out there for millions to potentially read and potentially judge. The honest way she tells her stories had me reading her book in less than a day. I just purchased another copy to give to my sister! Ashley talks about the hard things in life and we need more of that. Thank you, Ashley, for inviting us into your life in so many ways.

A Powerful Delivery of Heartwarming Energy in order to Shine

Incredibly timely! This book delivers a powerful charge of energy to propel us to shine despite what we have been through or are going through at present. The author transmits her own compassion and empathy to the reader in a simple yet very touching ways. She encourages to acknowledge and give ourselves permission to be where we are at in life and recognize that we can "trust that there is something to be gained on every journey upward"-A. LeMieux Just loved it!!

Don’t hesitate to buy this book.

Sometimes a book comes to you in the exact right moment in your life. I came to know Ashley on social media and didn’t know anything about all the extraordinary events that have happened and all the ways she and her husband continue to come through life.

Good during challenging times

I sobbed my way through Ashley’s family story. Even though I didn’t relate to the shine parts, I think it would be comforting if I were mourning something.

You will read in one sitting! I can’t wait for her next book!

Loved this book! It was a quick read and love Ashley’s style of writing. I love how she shares her heart and experiences and tries to support others. I bought another book to share with my daughters too!

Inspiring

Ashley has an incredible story of overcoming extremely difficult hardships in life. She provides unique perspectives and strategies to help you face your pain and overcome it. Her strength and courage that she displays is truly inspiring.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

This book is incredible! I’m not normally into “self help”-y type books (though this doesn’t come across as a self help book to me anyway) but HOLY COW, her positivity is inspirational. If you don’t already, follow Ashley on social media for updates on book #2!! Also buy this book for your girlfriends for Christmas/birthdays/just because.

Inspiring

It truly amazes me how inspired I felt after reading this book. Ashley’s words woke me up to the potential that was inside of me. She has been through so much and because of that she has been able to be a shining light. Darkness can be scary and uncertain but we all have a bright light within us if only we remember to turn the light on. Thank you, Ashley, for such a well-written story. Your light is contagious and it is so, so bright.

It's very raw and real !!!! Which is amazing !!

Fantastic read that tugs on your heart strings.

Just started reading it and I can't even put it down. Seriously such a good book. And I just love Ashley the author. What an amazing woman she is!

Inspiring, heartfelt. Must read!

My only regret with this book is that I didn’t find or read it sooner!! Wow! Wow! Wow! Ashley and her husband Mike are such a positive couple even during life’s most difficult times. I love the positive inspiration and motivation throughout the book! I couldn’t put it down! If you’re struggling at any point in your life or have in the past, go read now! Trust me. It’s good.

Such a great and uplifting read!

Loved every single page. Ashley has a real way with words and her sharing her heartbreaking story along with her strategy to shine was inspiring and incredible.

AMAZING!!!!

Far and away the best book I’ve ever gotten my hands on. Ashley has been through truly more obstacles than any human could imagine facing and is able to grow so much and use her pain for good. Couldn’t possibly recommend this book more, amazing for the grieving community but also just for any single person!!!

Don’t miss out on this gem!

This book is a MUST read! It doesn’t matter what you are going through- it is one of the best books out there to help you navigate any situation & come out of it shining brighter than ever before! I am SO thankful for Ashley’s constant work & amazing outlook on life despite what she’s been through. But this book now for yourself & every woman in your life. You WON’T be sorry!

Breathtaking

I couldn’t put this book down! It’s exactly what I needed to hear, no matter what I’ve did or gone through, I am born to shine and to love! I have followed the author for years on Instagram and love her sweet spirit and her message of love. Definitely recommend this read!!

The most impactful book I’ve ever read!

This book helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life. After losing two pregnancies in a row I was feeling hopeless, faithless and so alone. This book allowed me to see the light I had within me and the power to push through and come out stronger on the other side. Ashley’s words will inspire, comfort and motivate you to find your joy within ❤️ -Kaitlyn Blair

A great, positive, and motivating book!!

The author is amazing! They’ve suffered greatly but they’ve come out on top. A great message!

She is strength and inspiration

A must read!! Ashley is such an inspiration in finding the good even at the darkest times. Her passion to be vulnerable by opening her heart and soul to so many in hopes to help others is tremendous! She is honest, inspiring and SHINES! Ashley Is always willing to have the tough conversation with the hope we each come out better in the other side. Can’t wait for the next book!!!!

Very inspiring

Very inspiring! Strong confidence is powerful! There is beauty and growth in the heartache. Highly recommend.

Couldn’t put down

Such an amazing story of perseverance and how humans can really be strong and continue living after a harrowing experience. I admire Ashley for telling her story. All of us have one and many question “why me”? God won’t give you more than you can handle and Ashley is a proven example of strength and grace throughout her journey. I highly recommend.

Amazing book.

I loved this book. Ashley is an amazing person and so positive despite the hell she had to endure with losing her kids that she loved and cared about for years. I am so glad I got this book. It’s absolutely amazing.

Heartbreaking yet so very uplifting

This is a story of such heartbreak yet hope, sadness yet joy, despair yet love. Thank you for showing us how to SHINE even in the darkest of days.

Wow

This book is full of helpful, empowering tips, tough questions you've gotta ask yourself, and feels like a conversation with a best friend. I will be reading it again in the near future!!

Born to Shine indeed shines bright

I’ve been dying to read this book ever since the writer Ashley announced it and I’m obsessed. It’s a book that you will want to keep it close by to reread it when you need it. This book is for every person no matter what walk of life, and you’ll wanna order copies for everyone in your life!!

MUST READ

This book is life changing. She is so real and humble. I cried. I laughed. I healed a lot and then I got up and did something about my pain.

Wonderful reminder

This book is a wonderful reminder that you do have light and that your light shines for someone, even if you don’t see it. This book helped me to see the good I do and gave me permission to let my light shine.

Beautiful

This book hits so many different aspects of her life and shares the good in them all!

<3 So much love

This book came at just the right time for me. I immediately ordered one for a friend, which I don't think I've ever done with a book.

Must read book!

This book is a must read! It will change your life for the better! I love picking the book up and finding inspiration for my own life! I don’t even want to finish the book, because I want to just keep reading! I love it so much I got it foe my mother in law and my sister! I want everyone to read this book!

An incredible read for my incredible grief. I felt the words bring comfort and understanding. I'm so grateful for Ashley's honesty and support. She's doing the work. I can too.

SHINE

This was the most beautiful book I’ve ever read. Beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, Ashley, you’ve already changed my life and I just finished the book. Everyone, and I mean everyone, needs to read this. I hope it finds your children some day ❤️

Must read!

Inspiring!

A sigh of relief. A well written piece that will inspire you in one way or the other.

It all begins with you. This book helps to encourage you to keep going even when it seems hopeless. It is not impossible to shine. And even if you haven't encountered a breaking point in life, Ashley prepares you to take on whatever comes your way with hope through her inspiring life story.

Uplifting, genuine, inspiring

Ashley candidly tells the story of unexpected turns in life and how to navigate all of its peaks and valleys all while shining our individual light. Her honesty and the love she wants to share with her readers is apparent from page one through to the end. Great read!

Empowering

This is such a great book. It's so empowering to see a woman overcome so much pain and grief and come out the other side helping others do the same. I highly recommend it!!

So inspirational

I saw Ashley’s Instagram stories where she put this on sale during the quarantine and I was so excited! Read it in 3 days, so so worth it. So much inspiration and strength and beautiful storytelling. Loved it.

This book has been super helpful especially during this quarantine. I have been dealing with grief and this book has helped me get back to loving myself again and made me reakize it's ok to smile even in life's darkest moments. Definitely recommend!

Great gift

I gifted this book to my mom - she loved it!

So worth it!!

Such a great book. Took me a minute to get invested, but stick with it, and you will see what everyone raves about. Ashley has a way of relaying er struggles and strategies of coping in such a relatable way. Money very well spent!

Awesome read!

This is an awesome read! Very motivating.

A must read no matter where you are in life 💛

This book is so amazing - and a fast read. You can get through it in a weekend. It’s real and uplifting. You really feel like Ashley is talking to you. It’s a book everyone can relate to no matter where you are in life. ❤️

I loved this so much

I loved this book. I’ve never felt so much from reading something. I would 1000% recommend to any woman.

I recommend this book to anyone

I love the way this book is written. It’s so relatable, down to earth, and most importantly encouraging. Great for anyone in various walks of life.

Truth, pain, laughter and tears...

Ashley tells her story with heart, truth and hope. I cried with her, laughed with her and at the end felt like I knew her. I’m so glad this book came into my life...I’m a better person for it. 💜

A must read ladies!!

Best book ever!! If you I’m struggling with anxiety like myself or just feeling low this book is for you. It’s uplifting and the author is such an amazing woman. Very happy with this book.

Buy it now!

Amazing book and if you haven’t bought it buy it now!! I have given mine to my mom to read bc as soon as I got done I felt like I needed to share it with so many people

Would read again and again.

I absolutely adored this book. I felt like Ashley’s story resonated with me and I have such a deep respect for both her and her book. Have already bought multiple copies for friends and family.

Love this book

A beautiful and inspiring book for anyone who is grieving something. Pain and loss can coexist and this book shows how they can in a practical way

Amazing read!!

This book is incredible! Ashley has a way of writing that you feel like you're there with her on the journey. Funny, sad, emotional, inspiring. Totally worth the read!!

THE BEST BOOK EVER! I could read this book over and over again. You certainly get the feels, sadness, anger, love, joy...all of it! So beautifully written and so uplifting.

Couldn’t Put it Down

An easy and fast read. I finished it in a day, could not put it down!!

Inspiring and beautiful

Everyone has a story and I believe Ashley and Mikes story is one to be read. She hits on so many feelings that we all have but don’t want anyone to know. Highly recommend this book!

Repetitive

The book had good advice but I found it to be quite repetitive and whiney.

Must read!

A breath of fresh air! Raw and true and so powerful!

For ever woman to read #1

Self help

Motivational & easy to follow

Read the entire book in one night. Excellent read!

Good

A good read

Love this book!

Great read!

Don’t Bother

Stereotypical “self-help” book by a vapid “author.” Don’t waste your time or money.

This is a human story that will make you feel! Everyone should read it!

I love it when you read a non-fiction book that reads as easily as a fiction book. Born to Shine was that kind of book for me. I read it so quickly because I didn’t want to put it down, even though I knew what happened in Ashley LeMieux’s story. Her story is one of heart break and loss. But it’s also one of hope and faith. I love the way she was able to not only survive her loss, but thrive despite it. Through this the reader is able to learn that they too can survive and thrive, no matter what comes their way. I loved that this book made me laugh in parts, but it also made me cry in parts. It’s a human story and it’s one that everyone should read. Go grab your copy now!

You NEED this book!!!

I've always said Ashley has a way of saying just what I need to hear when I read her Instagram posts or listen to her videos, and this book goes above and beyond that. It will meet you right where you're at, no matter what you're going through, because it speaks to the universal human pain points of grief, loss, and fear. Yet she doesn't stop at being relatable . . . she actually teaches you how to move beyond those pain points and embrace what they have to teach us about shining our own light in the world. I can't recommend this book more highly!! It is a must read!!! I was on the book launch team and provided an early version of the ebook.

An Honest and Relatable Journey Through Pain Into Healing

Ashley LeMieux has painstakingly taken her experience of unbelievable loss and written a book that truly helps the reader believe they will once again be able to see light after darkness. This is a gem written from the heart, with specifics on just how real grief of any kind can knock a person down in a way that seems permanent. Ashley takes the reader through her journey, step by step, while at the same time showing how small steps lead to big changes and the ability to shine again. This is a universal, touching and relatable guide for anyone wanting guidance on finding their way out of a dark and painful time in life.

Proof of the Goodness of Humanity and the Resilience of the Human Soul

Born to Shine is part memoir, part self-help. Regardless of genre, it was hard to put down. Ashley's words were convicting, but also encouraging. The questions she asks of readers are thought-provoking. The story she weaves is spellbinding. Ashley writes with energy, even in the midst of pain, and the joy she shares is utterly contagious. Ashley and Mike LeMieux lost their children. They lost two little ones they raised and in whom they invested their lives. The LeMieux's did not lose their lives, however. They did not lose their humanity. They have emerged from their darkness humbler, stronger, and more full of light than ever before. Their story is proof of the goodness of humanity and the resilience of the human soul, even in the midst of the darkest night. I definitely recommend reading! Note: I received an advance copy of Born to Shine as part of the book launch team, but received no compensation for my review or opinions.

You have the power to SHINE through the hard & dark stuff!

I read this book (digitally) & felt so understood & empowered as I read Ashley's words. I can't wait to get my physical copy of the book next week! Her raw, real-life talk encouraged me through a particularly dark time myself; I was writing down notes & quotes as I gobbled this book up & sharing my favorites on social media! It doesn't read like a typical self-help book; there is a lot from Ashley's personal life that's so relatable. She shares practical tools for how to fight & win the struggles & battles we all face in life. I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who has experienced grief, heartache, misunderstanding, exclusion, & despair. One of my absolute favorite quotes from her book is: : "We don't get to choose what happens around us, but we do have power over what happens inside us. We can choose to meditate, not in the absence of fear, but in defiance of it. We dream of arriving at our next destination because we are not happy where we are. We dream about tomorrow while the sun sets on today."

Don’t get the hype.

Not a fan. I’m glad it helped other people though.

Ashley is a gifted writer with a beautiful soul! Very insightful and encouraging words!

"When we have done our very best, we may still experience disappointments, but we will not be disappointed in ourselves. We can feel certain that the Lord is pleased when we feel the Spirit working through us. Peace, joy, and hope are available to those who measure success properly." - Julie B. Beck Wow, Ashley is truly a gifted writer. I did ball my heart out towards the end but her resilience to choose to keep rising back up wiped my tears away! She is blessed with a sense of humor and I found myself bursting out laughing. She has a beautiful soul and through discovering how to navigate her personal life challenges, she desires to share her learned strategies: to look deeper beyond complex challenges of life and to RECOGNIZE AND VALUE THE GOOD THAT IS WITHIN. This is a spiritual strength that everyone must learn to master, to LIVE life to the fullest through the ups and downs.....to cherish the learning and the growing, within ourselves, and lift others on life's journey.

Be strong, be honest, and don’t forget your courage

The way that Ashley tells her story is the raw, real, genuinely authentic message that our world so desperately needs. It is okay to have pain, to feel everything, to lean on others, and then to use that pain to rise above out of the darkness and into a brilliant shine. I laughed, I cried, I couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait for the motivation and inspiration I know I’m about to witness in the pre-order livestream event. So grateful Born to Shine is spreading such powerful light.

an amazingly helpful real-life story

What an amazingly helpful real-life story that would be beneficial for anyone to read, especially if you are struggling with anything. It will guide you to help remember the worth you have, no matter who you are, and help you find the light within yourself ❤️ Would recommend everyone read this real-life, raw tale

Worth EVERY penny!

Best book I read all summer! Real. Genuine. Nothing held back. The author tells her story in a way that all people can connect to. If you have been through tough stuff, are currently grieving, know someone who is struggling, or just need a good pick-me-up, this book is for you. So many stories and quotes hit home for me. After reading, I walked away loving myself, my life, and my challenges even more. She gives great tips to channel your inner light and shine brightly with what you have to offer to the world. It's an absolute MUST read.

Read this book if you need to find hope

I first heard about the painful part of Ashley LeMieux's story and was prepared to read more about it in this book. She definitely told the parts I knew from her social media posts, but she also included the hope-filled sides too. She took what was so hard and felt impossible and turned it into lessons of how to move forward, have gratitude and find hope in the darkest of places. Read this book if you need to find hope in your own life or if you want to be inspired to move forward or if you want to read the words of someone who has walked such a difficult road and was brave enough to share about to help others through their own darkness.

Uplifting, short, great read.

Uplifting book, but if you follow Ashley on her social media platforms, she gives the same message. She's uplifting and has shared her story many times. I bought the book on super sale so it was worth it. I am excited to read more of her books and hope she will cover more ground. While the fostering story is sad, I think Ashley has a lot more to give. The past is the past. I look forward to see what direction she takes her next books!

When everything is wrong, it can be made right.

Born to Shine is the book everyone needs. If you have ever experienced any kind of heartache, if you have ever felt alone, you have ever needed something or someone to remind you of your worth...this book is made for you! It has helped me through some of the hardest times of my life. I have read this so many times and every time my heart is deeply touched. No matter your story, we all struggle with these common things taught in this book. Let born to shine change your life like it has mine! Go order now. You won’t regret it. -Brandi & Steven Marble

Beautiful story by an amazing warrior woman

Lovely story that’s beautifully written from the heart. It’s raw and emotional and will likely make you cry. I’ve gifted this to friends and read it as soon as it was released! It’s a quick read that you won’t regret spending your time on. Ashley is an incredible warrior woman with the strength to heal and carry on after an unimaginable loss, her love for her kids and her husband is nothing short of inspiring and leaves me in awe. The people who get to know this family personally and benefit from their love are very lucky people indeed. This book will help you shine!

Such an eye opening book, you won’t regret reading this!

I was so excited about reading this book after following Ashley for a couple years on Instagram. I will say my journey and issues are a bit different than Ashley and her husbands. But one thing you will get from this book and Ashley’s story, is that it doesn’t matter what you’re going through.. The pain and hurt that you feel, someone else also feels that pain. It can be difficult to deal with but as Ashley says, pain is a privilege. I have already read this book but I’m going back and taking my time and re reading it and letting everything sink in. Ashley’s story is so real and I’m grateful for her writing it down for all of us to read. Thank you💕✨

An emotional connection in words

Great book, well done!

This book is amazing! Ashely shows us all that it is possible to go through heart breaking experiences and find joy and peace on the other side. Even though I have never experienced what she has, I have had my own trauma and difficult situations that I have gone through over the past 5 years. Born to Shine has given me hope for my future as I move forward. The book flows really well and is hard to put down. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who has experienced difficult things and trauma in their life - which is everyone!

Read this book!

I have loved this book. I’m only halfway through, and I am already learning so much. Ashley takes a very raw and real look at the painful heartbreaks life throws at us, and acknowledges that pain while also providing practical advice of how to accept it and move on with you life!

Such a heartfelt, wonderful book!!

This book is amazing! I had been looking forward to Ashleys book since she mentioned she was writing it! The book is such a heartfelt written book. Ashely has been able to take the worest pain anyone can imagine and help others learn to get through their pain! I've cried and laughed as I've read this amazing book!! Everyone needs this book, because life is hard and this helps to show you how to take steps to heal!

A book with heart

This book is for every woman out there. It helps you understand grief, but it also helps you learn how to choose happiness REGARDLESS of your circumstances. As I read her book, I felt like we were old pals, sitting across from each other at a table eating ice cream. She speaks with heart, from the heart, to the heart.

This book will change your life!

Honestly Ashley’s story will change your life!!! It will help you get past the hurt and trauma of events and see the beauty in the pain! You have to read this and take it all in!!! Your sisters, mom, cousins, best friends need this book!!!!

Exactly what I needed to read

I stumbled across Ashley’s story on IG, started following her, and for whatever reason decided that today was the day I would purchase her book. I’m so glad I did, as I have been stuck and overwhelmed for so long; and this book has now given me hope and permission to shine. My heart breaks for her story, but I am filled with such gratitude that she has shared it with people just like me who really needed to hear it. Thank You!

Great book of strength and courage.

Loved reading Born to Shine. The vulnerability and courage in this book is captivating. Lots of tears, but also lots of hope. Hearing Ashley’s story of strength and courage was just what I needed. Leaning into hard times and growing from them is never easy and Ashley never made it sound easy, but she let us know it’s possible. The book felt very genuine. Worth the read!!
