Rin and his exorcist classmates are caught in a secret war against the forces of darkness. Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth—the blood of the demon lord Satan runs in Rin’s veins! Rin swears to defeat Satan, but doing that means entering the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. In the late Edo Period, a demon known as the Impure King killed thousands of people. After defeating the demon, the Knights of the True Cross kept its left eye safely sealed away on Academy grounds—but now someone has stolen it! Hearing the thief has taken a child hostage, Yukio and Rin go to help. The investigation and pursuit will lead Rin and his friends to Kyoto and involve them even deeper in a sinister plot! But will his friends’ knowledge that Rin is the son of Satan drive a wedge between them?

Review for Blue Exorcist 5

So Rin's shown the group what he truly is, that he's the son of Satan. Rin's kind of acting like nothing's happened, but you can imagine how everyone else is taking it. Oh and Rin has to pass the exorcism exam within six months and we all know how Rin is with studying. . . Yukio has an assignment and of course Rin has to tag along. Shura's keeping a close eye on Rin and trying to help him master his flame without having to draw his sword. She's also been asked by Father Fujimoto a long time ago to find Rin and teach him sword art. A thief stole the Left Eye of the Impure King from the Deep Keep, Mr. Todo's family line has kept guard over the Keep since forever. When the eye was taken from the demon lord. The eye can release a very toxic gas that in turn causes disease. Over 40,000 died when the Impure King ran rampant through the land. Yukio's been called in to assist in recovering the eye and unveiling the thief. Rin gives Shura the slip, which by judging her character isn't hard to do. He joins in to help aid his brother and also keeping a promise he made. Like majority of good plot lines/stories, something goes wrong and soon a new adventure unravels. Rin and the other Exwires are thrown onto a train headed to Kyoto, they must help the injured exorcists who helped to foil a plot in retrieving the Right Eye of the Impure King. Not to mention assist in the Keep Defenses for the thief will return to gain the other eye. Rin tries to be friendly to everyone but they're still a little shaken by how demonic Rin had turned when the sword was unsheathed for so long. The train ride to Kyoto's an interesting one for them all, and that's all I'm going to say. Oh, and we get to see our lovely Bariyon's again. There's cursing and a lot of cleavage/boob action from Shura. She rather go around baring it all then have the dreary outfits of an exorcist. I'm still loving this series and am eager to see what happens next. I love the balance of comedy, action, and violence. Hey some girls like action! On to the next book. . . Payday where are you?

:) great you should buy!

I would suggest this 100% the book and it’s condition is amazing! And the book came early then I thought so :)! 10/10 would suggest!

I bought these as a bulk order and theyre all perfect condition clean and brand new all in english and extremely well packaged

Everything is good about it

My daughter love it.

In Love!

I absolutely love this anime, and I love the manga. The fact that all of the mangas were for sale pretty cheaply online is amazing! (The stores in my area sell for $10 or more per volume.) The books came in very good condition, without a single bend or fold in the covers, and they arrived only two days after I had ordered them. The art is very well done, and there is so much more content in the books than in the anime. Absolutely love this!

Awesome book

So good!!!

This is the first volume that was not adapted in the anime, so everything here is new if you watched the anime first. In my opinion this is by far the most entertaining arc of Blue Exorcist, this is when the series starts getting serious.

Great buy

Love this series!

This series just makes me happy, even with all the violence. Definitely not for extremely young readers, but even tweens would enjoy and have some relatable moments with the characters.

The truth is out, now what?

Well, the cat’s out of the bag, and all the ex-wires know Rin’s secret—namely that he is the son of Satan. They have mixed feelings about this revelation, understandably. But no time to dwell on that, Yukio and Rin are off to deal with an emergency situation. The trouble began when someone stole the Left Eye of the Impure King from the Deep Keep. A senior exorcist named Todo, along with an elite force, pursued a masked man but he’s taken a child and is using him as a shield. To make matters worse, a terrible gas has been released, and the hostage child has received severe exposure. The child’s mother begs for help, and when Yukio tries to explain that they might not succeed, Rin rashly promises to rescue her son. The brothers and Todo and his elite force are off to the rescue! But not everything is as it seems. Meanwhile, back at True Cross, Suguro, Shima, and Miwa are concerned that they are unable to contact friends and family back home. Mephisto unexpectedly turns up in the ex-wire classroom and announces they have earned the right to go on a real mission—to Kyoto! To say that Suguro is less than thrilled would be an understatement. Rin thinks he’s being sneaky but Shura catches him practicing in secret and tells him to pack, he’s going to Kyoto. Apparently the Right Eye of the Impure King is also in peril. On the train to Kyoto, Rin discovers the other ex-wires are going as well, but nobody seems particularly happy to see him, much less sit with him. Shura tells them all to behave so she can get some sleep, but how likely is that? On arrival in Kyoto, the ex-wires go to the inn where they are to stay, only to be met with some surprising information that a certain someone would wish to remain unknown. As they settle in, they get to know the okami (female innkeeper) and her family. Suguro realizes there is a problem there. He has to take charge or two quarreling families will tear everything apart! The ex-wires are unsure how to handle their new knowledge about Rin, and it shows. Rin is becoming frustrated because he thinks nothing has really changed, he’s the same guy he was before, but how can he convince them of that? In this new volume, Rin is as headstrong and determined as ever. He’s a good boy at heart, who’s found himself in a difficult situation, and still has some maturing to do. And he’s still determined to defeat Satan one day. Also in this volume, we get some background information on Bon Suguro, which helps to flesh out his character and make him more likeable. I’m really interested in finding out more about these stolen Eyes. What’s so important about them that someone wants to steal them? Will Rin’s fellow students ever get over his satanic birthright and accept him for who he is? Will Rin ever find the courage to admit he likes Shiemi? Enquiring minds want to know! Good volume, looking forward to the next one.

Continues to be pretty well done.

Series Info/Source: This is the 5th volume in the Blue Exorcist shounen manga series. There are 24 volumes published in this series right now in the US with the 25th due out Feb 2021. There are 26 volumes in this series right now with the 27th to be published in 2021 in Japan. Story (4/5): This was a more interesting storyline than the last volume. Rin tags along with Yukio to help at an incident involving the poison eyeball of the Impure King. Rin is still being alienated by his friends because of them finding out he is the son of Satan. I did enjoy getting to see what the Knights of the True Cross actually do, rather than hanging out with the students the whole time. Characters (3/5): Not a lot of new characters introduced in this volume, although we do meet some new Knights of the True Cross. The highlight of this volume is Kuro for me; I still don’t like Rin as a character that much and Shuro bugs the crap out of me. Still looking for some decent female characters in here... Setting (4/5): A lot of this story takes place in some creepy underground tunnels which was a good setting for the story. We get to start a journey to Kyoto as well which should be interesting in the next volume. Writing/Drawing Style (4/5): Not a lot more to say than what I’ve said in review of previous volumes. These are decently drawn and easy to follow. I like the fast pace and action in this manga. The characters remain a weak point of the series for me. I did like getting into a storyline with a bit more background and “meat” to it, hopefully the Impure King storyline will go on a couple volumes. My Summary (4/5): Overall this continues to be a solid shonen manga series that I am enjoying. While the drawing and storyline aren’t absolutely fabulous, this is one of the better shonen manga series I have read.

Love this series

I never want it to end

(4.5 STARS) Going to Kyoto, Beginning of a New Episode

Volume 5 of "Blue Exorcist" marks the beginning of a new chapter, namely, the "Impure King (Fujou-ou)" episode, which will be much longer than any of the previous ones of the hit series. When one of the demon Impure King's eyes is stolen from True Cross Academy's facilities, Rin, son of Satan, and his classmates are sent to Kyoto as a reinforcement force, where the other eye is guarded by the Kyoto Field office members. But now that the secret about Rin's parentage is out, some of his classmates find it pretty uncomfortable working with him on a mission that could be very dangerous. The story gets more interesting than ever with a "real" mission that takes place in Kyoto, the city where Ryuji, Renzo and Konekomaru lived as child before coming to True Cross Academy. Not much "action" takes place (there are not many fight scenes), but manga creator Kazue Katô did a very good job of giving depth to the characters Ryuji and Renzo with convincing backstories about their parents. For some fans the fifth installment is an improvement in that Shiemi and Izumo, two female characters hardly seen in the previous volume, are back. Actually, they have not much to do in the story, but at least they are given clever things to say. The fifth volume is a promising start for a new chapter of the "Blue Exorcist" series. It also shows you why Ryuji is often called "Bon" - a respectful way of addressing a boy from a rich, prestigious family, used only in Kyoto.

Where this title comes into is own!

If you are a fan of the Ao No Exorcist as it is known in Japan then this is a must. For one this cover is the best one yet. Bon is my second favorite character in a great pose this cover is the coolest one yet along with the Shima cover in Volume 6. Second this is where Blue Exorcist as a manga starts to diverge from the Anime and really comes into its own.The volume without giving much away centers on the Impure King story arch. Where Kazue Kato takes the manga as opposed to the Anime is that the emphasis is not as heavy on the relationship of the Rin brothers as in the anime but the inter-relationships of the other characters. At this point of the story the stakes are not as high as in the anime but Kato's character development and story telling is appreciated. Also characters are introduced that are interesting and that I would like to meet in the anime. The art is as usual quality. I like her lay out and design because they are easy on the eye, expressive and easy to follow. This manga has a look and feel that has an urban punk aesthetic that I like but might be kind of emo for some to really enjoy. The bonus and character profiles while not always great definitely give you a reason to do more then read the scantalations online. They are usually humorous and the character bios and profiles are great. This is for me an interesting series with a great premise. At 6 volumes it is not daunting to get into so to me is an easy recomend.

Family reunion

Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) volume 5 contains chapters 16 to 19 plus some bonus character profiles, demon guide 4 panel comics. It is rated T+ for older teen (16+) due to violence, suggestive situations and some adult themes. Rin Okumura and his twin brother Yukio are the sons of Satan but they only found out about this after the man who raised them was killed by Satan. Unlike his twin brother, Rin has special powers in the form of blue flames. He enrolled in a special school which trains exorcists and found out that his twin brother is actually a teacher there. Now he wants to become strong enough to defeat Satan and protect his friends but first he has to learn how to control his powers and master his sword. The new arc begins with news that somebody has stolen the left eye of the impure king from the deep keep causing highly toxic gas to spread. The right eye is also being targeted so the group head to Kyoto. They stay at Suguro's family's inn where we meet Suguro and Shima's families and see a flashback of their childhood. Throughout the book, in between chapters, we see Suguro's stress meter. It's a fun little addition to the book. Everything in volume 5 did not happen in the anime so if you watched that and wanted to pick up the manga, this is a great place to start. I personally think the manga's storyline is a million times better than the anime's original ending. The art is amazing. There are a lot of new characters introduced in this volume but it's easy to see who is related to who because they have similar appearances and characteristics. There's a long recap at the beginning so that's helpful. Also there are a few comedy moments in there even though the storyline is pretty serious. Overall it's a fantastic volume! I can't find anything wrong with it. Even the translation is great! They keep some of the chants untranslated and even kept in the word "okami" (female innkeeper). This is perfect for any Blue Exorcist fan or somebody who has seen the anime but wants more!
