LOVE IS IN BLOOM

Saeki Sayaka has always been an old soul--serious and reserved, preferring to focus on her studies rather than make friends. Until, that is, a romantic confession from another girl in middle school turns her carefully ordered world upside down. Though none of her classes have prepared her for this, Saeki must now come to terms with her sexuality in this gentle, coming-of-age novel about grappling with first love, growing up, and relating to other people.

It's about Sayaka, not Yuu or Touko

Very well-written. The visuals are amazing. Interesting watching someone struggle to describe emotions when she lacks the experience of vocabulary. Unfortunately it never occurred to me that it would be about someone I viewed as a side character. I bought the book - as I have many light novels - to fill out characters and details that can only be skimmed in the Anime or Manga. Instead giving me greater insights into Yuu or Touko, I was given an in-depth biography of Sayaka. I love the character. She helps shape the story, but that wasn't why I bought the book. I kept waiting for the story to jump into the lives of either of the main two characters. Some novels have a viewpoint that rotates through the characters and when I started reading I thought it would be interesting to see 3 or 4 people's point of view of the events. But no. Instead it was pure background on Sayaka. As I said, well-written, but not something of interest to me. Not sure why it has the same title. This feels like a spin-off. Imagine a story called "Overlord" that focuses purely on Albedo's adventures along with limited interaction with AOG? Was disappointed once I realized the view point was never going to change since I wasn't particularly interested in Sayaka's motivations. Ah well. At least the characters are well developed and the scenery colorfully described. Just don't make the mistake I did thinking it would bring you closer to understanding the motivations of Yuu or Touka. You won't be getting a peek inside their heads in either Bk1 or Bk2 - which I mistakenly bought for obvious reasons. I even skimmed the first few chapters to see if this one a series that swapped views from book to book. Nope. More Sayaka, a beautiful, sensitive and caring character who ultimately would be disappointed. Like me. A good book if you are interested in knowing her thoughts and motivations.

amazing

This is just such a raw, real coming of age story without tropes, cliches, just a girl without guidance stumbling through the road of discovering her own sexuality in a cool, detached world. So subtly emotional. Excellent translation that preserves the personality of the characters well. A gem of a story.

Sayaka's backstory

I like it. Sayaka has been one of the more intriguing characters in Bloom into You for me so it was nice to see her as a main focus in the spinoff light novels. Looking forward to parts 2 and 3.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

I’m in love with this novel series. I’m extremely happy we get to see what she has gone through & I want her to have a happy ending as well. I can’t wait for part 2!

Yuri

Well, I am in love with this series. I believe I first read the original manga three years ago, all the way until it finished last year. I have always wanted to accompany the characters’ journey for awhile more, so I am more than happy to read this book. Love it.

the books were a decent read. worth it if your may as well have something to read as you wait for 3

This review is very judgmental. The books so far 1 and 2 are good the story in them is round around the Manga. That was not what I was expecting at all whose hands were tied will show up in the 3rd book which starts in her 2nd year of college. We have a little preview I think the girl she meets turns out to be the one she talked to about Nanaimi san.

great series

So glad this Light Novel was printed for the Bloom int You series as it really helps with the story line to understand the history of one of the main characters.

Great Book!

My friend really loved the book! I bought it for her birthday and she finished it the next day. Would definitely recommend to anyone else who likes wlw.

Esta novela tiene una historia llena de tristesa y hermosura

Amo esta novela, Sayaka es la mejor y es triste que se enamore solo de personas que no le corresponden esperenme asta que compre el segundo y el tercer volumen, no me los perdere.

Excellent

I was excited to read this as just a side story to add to what I'd already read in the manga, but I didn't expect it to hold up so well all on its own. I can sincerely say that I would have loved this even if I'd never heard about Bloom Into You before. Sayaka's character is communicated very well and it's so endearing to get to see how she develops. Obviously, it's a bit of a heartbreaking read for anyone who goes in knowing what's coming, but I feel that only helps to highlight exactly how she came to be who she is. I'm greatly looking forward to the next volume.
