Birds of Pray: The Story of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Faith, Brotherhood, and Super Bowl Victory

I bought this book for my husband and I read it in 3 days. I simply couldn't put it down. The poor guy had to wait for his own book. He read it and loved it too. As a Christian and an Eagles fan, it was encouraging to read. The book discusses specific players and their relationship with Jesus and how that had and continues to have an impact on the Eagles. These guys are professionals. They play to win, but they understand everything they do on and off the field needs to reflect who is on the throne of their heart. If that sentence makes no sense to you, I encourage you to buy it and see for yourself. I love that it didn't just discuss the Eagles as Super Bowl Champs, but the legacy of Faith from earlier players. Philly is a tough town. You have to be real and this book is. I respect the writer for his own transparency.

A really good read. Not only are you exposed to the central theme of the depths of personal Christian faith for many players, but to read about the ups and downs of the decision making process that brought this team together through struggle gives the reader an idea of the intricacies of the business of football.

Good read about a very memorable and historic time in Eagle history. It’s great to read the importance of prayer and faith that these players have. This book reads like a behind the scenes view on “normal” guy’s glorifying God by playing a game. Sad to finish in current times with the current state of affairs with this team, but nice to read and look back fondly on a great life experience as an Eagles fan.

As a lifelong die hard Eagles fan, as well as a man of faith, this is an awesome book covering all aspects of the amazing Super Bowl season! I had the pleasure of meeting Rob Maaddi and his story is very powerful as well. If you're an Eagles fan, pick this book up. It's inspiring and a great way to remember the memorable run to the Super Bowl!

Great look into the magical year with the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Champions and their Faith. I believe Rob Maaddi is one of the best faith based authors I have read. All his books are Faith Based with great sports background. Football Faith, Baseball Faith and now Birds of Pray Mr Maaddi has once again transformed players stories of faith into a great read.

An intimate look inside the organization of the World Champion Philadelphia Eagles where a core group of star players built a brotherhood around their shared faith in Christ. I found it to be a fascinating read.

I wanted a football book not a religious book. I did not like this book at all. Not one bit.

I am anxious to read this book! My co-worker borrowed it and said he read the whole book in one day, which is not usual for him. He was fascinated by the testimonies of the players.

Great book

The book was interesting, but nothing earth-shattering. The truths described inside are pretty simply and straightforward, and the characters and players are fairly one-dimensional. The football stories are pretty basic - the games are more or less simple descriptions of key plays in key games. There is quite a bit of repetition in the book as well, and it seems like Wentz, Noes, and everyone else was saying the same thing over and over. It is an easy read, and you could easily do it in one or two sittings. If you are a big-time Eagles fan, I'm sure there is some goodness in here for you, otherwise it's only so-so. --------------- I noticed Amazon and Goodreads have a slightly different meanings to their 5-point scale. I thought it was odd to have a different rating for the same book on two different sites, so I came up with my own scale below. For the record, it is fairly close to Amazon's scale, but allows me to be consistent between the two sites. 5 - Fantastic. Life-altering. Maybe only 30 in a lifetime. 4 - Very good. 3 - Worth your time. 2 - Not very good. 1 - Atrocious.

Great book. Not only for Eagles fans but for those that appreciate the Eagles doing good and following God. Very inspirational bought 2. One for myself and one for my brother. He didn't believe me when I told him that the Eagles had a book about following Jesus and other inspirational things. Great read.

I finished the book in 3 days and couldn't put it down! Every chapter captured the unique and special bond that these players have and God is glorified as we read how their lives were transformed by the power of God. Author Rob Maaddi captures such sweet moments like the players baptism, and the support Wentz received after hearing he was unable to play after tearing his ACL, personal thoughts of the players and much more. The Eagles are a truly inspiring team and this book captures it all.

This book is a fantastic retelling of a miraculous season, complete with a behind-the-scenes look at how the core of Christian players on the team came together to play for a higher glory than their own; namely, that of their Savior, Jesus Christ. I greatly enjoyed reading this book and reliving the best Eagles season in recent memory.

I purchased two of these books to give a Christmas gifts. I know the two men who are getting these will appreciate it.

My 2nd review attempt of this book. I’m a Christian and a coach. I listened to this book about the Eagles players, their commitment to Jesus, leadership and their walks. What I didn’t like was the politics in the book (untimely led to me not completing the book). The author also references a ‘pastor’ in the prosperity movement, a false prophet. So lets see if Amazon posts this review. I won’t complete this book or read any more from this author.
