Well, I’m only two thirds of a Pet these days, but you might as well call me Pet anyway. Everyone does: everyone but the vampire, that is.
Life is more unbalanced these days—cases are cutting closer to home than usual. I thought I was the only one, but there are others like me: kids whose parents were murdered just like mine. Stuff that never fit into place before is beginning fall into place.
And my psychos are getting really weird. I mean, they’ve always been weird, but now they’re getting weirder.
Why would a fae lord decide to collaborate with humans?
Why has the fae steward started sneaking out at night?
And why is the vampire reading romance novels?

I've got such a buzz from this book, I think I accidentally ingested vampire spit!
I don't know how these books keep getting better, but somehow they do. And I LOVE it! So many questions. Some answers, but mostly questions. Usually I hate that, but this series just has a way of pulling me in and making me not care how annoyed I'm getting at all the questions. And there is a certain development in this book that I have suspected for a while and am very, very happy I am right about. I feel simultaneously high from my sheer love of this book, and crushed that it's over. My own fault for gobbling it down, but I can't help myself. I always do this. To summarize: Loved it. Would absolutely give it 1,000 stars if I could. ... Is book 8 out yet? (Joking/not joking.)
Help me...
This series is killing me slowly and it's a testament to W.R. Gingell's writing that I'm enjoying the process of dying. She builds up anticipation and then doles out answers slowly with a relish that brings to mind a mischievous elf leaving little gifts scattered everywhere for the reader to find and then running off cackling. You're killing me, madam, and I must thank you for it.
Delightful
With no outside investigations currently ongoing, what better time to look closer at the mysterious Pet? Is Pet an Heirling? What really happened the night her parents died? Why is Pet so certain she's just an ordinary human? Despite these, and many other, weighty questions, this book is a delight to read. Gingell's writing style is so addictive, I end each book wanting to read more (yes, I do go back and re-read other books after). The characters and relationships are sophisticated, especially between Pet and the psychos, because they realize they all have different motivation, priorities, and emotions, yet are committed to work together. Pet has learned when and how to stand firm, when to compromise, and when to give the psychos time to adjust and grow. And all three psychos have learned some new skills that surprise Pet.
Pet and her Psychos Never Disappoint!
Eeep! This book was so good! I meant to savor it and read a little bit each night, but I should have known better. I gobbled it up during an evening, staying up as late as I dared, then finishing the last bit off the next morning. If you've been reading through this series, hoping for answers, this books gives a few answers. Sweet and terrible and suspenseful and well worth all the wait and twisty turny stuff that came before. Of course, this book doesn't give all the answers. There are still far more questions out there, and some of the answers just add up to more questions. But the pieces are falling into place for a smashing final three books of the series! It's been an amazing ride to this point, and I'm sure Pet and her psychos won't disappoint!
So much packed in this wonderful book
Some author’s lose the depth and storyline as they try to eek out more books in a series. For some they surely shook have just ended it a few books ago. Not this series. Book 7 brings about so many new and unexpected surprises that one can’t help but binge read Pet’s latest adventures and then eagerly sit back and wait for more. All the regulars are here both good and baddies and the adventure seems to just flow from page to page as it seems interests are changing and being made known around Pet the human who is just a bit more than other humans.
Love it, but... What am I missing?
I do like the series. Even the rather slow uncovering of truths because there is always something going on. And I hope a bit, that the next book will be the last one because we might be already quite close to finding out the truth. A slow pace is fine but being too slow might become too much. 🙂 Even though it looks like there will be one very unfortunate truth. But maybe, I'm just guessing wrong, I hope, and it will all turn out well, because not everything is just black or white. There is only one thing: This number 7 book starts with H being sort of in love with Zul. And then there is a story, although roughly explained, it looks like it was in the last book. But I didn't read it in book 6 and I didn't skip... So I am wondering where the story about Zul is. Also, the same problem I had in book 6 regarding the leprechaun whose story was not in book 5. What am I missing?
Better and Better
I can't believe I am 7 books into this series and still as excited about them as the first few. Usually I give up on a series after 2 or 3 books BUT THESE JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER! I'm hooked. This particular book is exciting because we seem to learn more about Pet and her family as well as new developments with the troika. But as with all the books in this series, as soon as you learn one thing you have a dozen new questions/ideas/theories. I love it!!!
Oh!
How can these books just keep getting better!? How! But they do--the mysteries lead to more mysteries, and the relationships get more deep and complex and pet just grows up before my eyes. It's amazing. It's unexpected, this latest twist between her and the mosquito, but I could see it approaching, too. And the larger story grows, and I think one of the other psychos is going to break my (and pet's) heart. Because I have a suspicion of who the murder er is, and I hope I'm wrong. Yes I do. I missed the policeman in this one. He got a casual mention or two and that was all. But the story was full up without him. I so wish the next book in this series was out, already!
Just keeps getting better
This is one of my favorite series of all time. The characters are so finely drawn you feel as though you could reach out and poke them and they'd be solid. Especially Pet, who really *is* so darn loveable. I almost never re-read a book once I am finished with it, but I have almost this entire series. As more is revealed, it's kinda fun to go back and see a little bit more clearly how everything fits together. A whole lot to love here!
Loved it!
I'm just as naive as Pet, to think she should get to have an innocent crush. 'Zul really dissapointed me. Hmm. Now Pet feels like her 3 psychos and her are forming a nice cozy family. But who is related? I can't wait to find out. Aletheas is so sneaky. He's definitely guilty of something. Could he be the big double crosser I think he is? How did he really come to be beat up the night of Zero's brother's death?

OH MY
This is not the book to start with. Although WR is very good about filling the reader in on previous action, there's really too much back story that one wouldn't have. Questions are answered here but others are raised and as much as I DESPISE cliffhangers each of these books is complete in itself, even though questions remain and I keep trying to turn the page at the end. I ADORE this author and her books and I will be devastated when this series ends, but then there's always the next one! Simply, an author I never tire of. Too often I get to a point in a series and say Meh, enough. Not this one, not this author. Try it, Mikey, you'll like it!
Oi! Flamin fantastic!
Before reading this book, I reread all the prior books in the series and I found myself enjoying every minute of each. This one did not disappoint! Full of surprises, houses that eat people, a sweet little old lady with knitting needles... Along with uncovered memories for pet and a vampire who is reading romance novels in preparation to date a human... There was laughter and tears, this book gave me all the feels. I won't spoil it for you but I highly recommend reading this book... After you read all the previous books in the series.
I love Pet!
I think I said that in my review of one of the first books as well. She's so......cheeky. All the characters are developing, and getting more mysterious. Some questions are answered but a lot more are raised. And I learned a new phrase, "dog in a manger".Look it up. Or better yet ask the author on Instagram, that's what I did.😁
Thoroughly enjoyable torment
Questions answered and mysteries revealed! Sort of. Every new truth leads to more questions and deeper mysteries. On the plus side, the growth arcs are worth the wait.
Flaming heck!
This was a such a great book. Obviously you have to read the series in order. Some questions got answered, new questions came up. Twists and turns abounded. There was a lot we learned and so much left sitting on the edge. But the ending!!! I kinda knew something like that was coming, but I coulda used another chapter to exemplify. It just left me with a "oh my goodness", trying to turn the page that wasn't there. Definitely worth the buy and the read. This whole series has been Amazing.
Love!
Ah, at last some answers are revealed! This series really needs to be read in order, so start with Between Jobs. While the City Between books are available on Kindle Unlimited, I have bought them because they are THAT GOOD. Several people have said that, even though they are not normally in to Fantasy, they are hooked on this series. The world is complex, the characters even more so, and the plot has you guessing and second- guessing.
Listen up you Nerf-Herders!!
I have Kindle Unlimited so I read the book for free and I loved this book so much that after I was done I went and purchased it! If you are interested in great characters and amazing story telling then you've come to the right place! I'm going to check back on the book reviews regularly and if you guys have not read and rated this book 5 stars by the time I get back, Y'all gonna feel my wrath! Thanks for the great read W R Gingell!!
Yes, yes, yes!
FLAMIN' HECK! That ending! Now that I have your attention... this book is my favorite yet. I am charmed by the characters more & more every book. If you've read this far into the series, you don't need any summary to convince you to read this one & I'm not giving up any spoilers. Go read it yourself.
Loved It
Another awesome addition to the series! I loved this book, as I knew I would. It was fun watching the directions the characters' relationships took. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I'll just say I found them quite satisfying. Can't wait to see what happens from here and get a few more questions answered!
ACK!!!!! I Need The.Next Book
Not as.long as the other books in this series.but full of delightful twists and turns....with an almost cliffhanger ending. So much so I was certain my Kindle must've deleted the remaining chapters. I can't wait for the next book in this fresh, original series!
It gets better
Every book, the series gets more interesting and wild and fun! New hints crop up for the big mysteries, while smaller mysteries push the story closer to the climax, keeping you engaged with their own depth and detail as you wait.
Loved it!
I love seeing Pet’s growth. She’s so canny about many things—but not relationships. I enjoy this series and all the new insights on past books that come from this one! Definitely a must-read for urban fantasy.
Crap! That was amazing-
Woah, was not expecting that roller coaster of emotions. I absolutely LOVE this series and this latest book is a great addition. Oh boy- there are some ships worth shipping here! I am excited for the next book to come out soon- though Author Gingell, please take all the time and rest you need for it and your own life. Thank you for writing this.
Favorite book in one of my all time favorite series!
Ahhhhh SO GOOD!!! Every book in this series gets better, I adore the characters, the writing, the plot development & the action. Read in one night and now dying for the next one:)
Oh no! It finished too soon!
*Sigh* I WISH I could tell you what happens, but I’ll have to settle for saying it’s another rock ‘em sock ‘em episode of the Pet and her owners!
Always more interesting!
As we find out more about the Pet’s past, and as she grows up, the plot becomes even more compelling. Cant wait for the next book!
Excellent
This is the best one in the series yet! I love Jinyeong so much, he cracks me up. I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment!!!!
Questions answered, but more questions than ever
I love this series! If you like to think, and enjoy urban fantasy, give it a shot. Start with Between Jobs. Enjoy!
Loved it! Can’t wait for the next installment in the series
I love this author. This series has me on the edge of my seating waiting for more! Can’t wait!!! Love these characters
The plot thickens
I read this far too fast. I need to know what happens next! I really liked that we get to see more of the relationships with the 3 build up. And more about pet and what happened in the past. I hope that we get the audio books up to this point soon too, so I can experience it all again.
Unexpected Favorite!
When I first started this series I wasn't sure if I would like it. Its modern day fantasy, it has fae and vampires, and they are trying to catch a murderer. But I fell in love with this series! It is soo good! My husband and I both were so happy when the newest book came out and were fighting to see who would get it finished first.
Best of an already wonderful series
This is the best of the series so far. My heart actually started racing toward the end! The only thing I didn't like is that I now have to wait for her to write the next one.
Brilliant
Book 7 in the series continues to be filled with witty banter and captivating character development. The storyline is, as always, uniquely creative. Just do yourself a favor and buy every book in the series!
love this series
interesting world building good characters and dialogue
Left wanting more, as usual!
Loved these books since the first one, and this doesn’t disappoint - but makes waiting for the next one just as hard as ever!
Favorite book of 2020
Definitely my favorite book of this series, but I feel like I say that about every book this far! It was quirky & had bits of sass. Pet & her psychos are some of my favorite characters in my book readings. Though I need more because I'm not quite over that ending!
Between cases #7
Everyone should read these books, just reading about pet and her psychos will make your day! Also will leaving you wondering what’s going to happen in the future with pet and all of her allies as well as her enemies.
Love it so much
Just did a reread of this book because I liked it so much to the first time I tore through it and I wanted to savor it a little more this time. I think this might be my favorite City Between book yet (which is kinda surprising, considering one of my favorite characters wasn't really in it... But I'm sure he'll be in the next book). I've really enjoyed the character development on this book and the books leading up to, particularly with Pet, JinYeong, and Zero. Pet remembers/relearns some stuff from her past--finally!--which answered some questions and raised quite a few more. She's still trying to figure out her place in the world (s) and with her psychos and juggle all the different questions and concerns being tossed about her mind. And then there's JinYeong... Sweet Little Mosquito who's trying so hard to manage all his feelings and it's actually improving. I liked him best in this book. He's a lot more obvious in his affection for Pet and it's delightful. And Zero... You can tell he's changing too, but trying not to. He's concerned for and fond of Pet but doesn't quite know how to balance these feelings with his past experiences, what's expected, and trying to keep everyone safe. (At least that's my interpretation of his internal dilemma). It's rather endearing. And Athelas... Well, I still don't quite know what's going on with him, but he's like Pet's serenely scary uncle that she can't help but love and be suspicious of. There seemed to be more focus on the relationships between this...family, which didn't leave as much room for outside characters. But though I love the less prominent characters, I was more than happy with more focus on Pet and the Psychos. (But let me just say, Vesper was a hoot and I really hope we get to see her again). The main plot in this book is Pet and the Pychos looking into peripheral murders to the cases the Psychos have worked on in previous books--since, you know, they're Between Cases..... Don't want to say too much about what happens, but suffice it to say it's verrrry interesting and definitely grabs your attention (I mean, of course it does because WR Gingell wrote the book). Anyway, I highly recommend this book and this whole series. It's one of my favorite Urban fantasy series. So fun and so quirky. I love it. :)
Engaging with the vampire and fae, rattling swords, and a skeleton or two in the closet
Pet is taking vampire spit for granted these days, along with a certain vampire. JinYeong is still “studying” romance novels. Zero is disapproving. Athelas is entertained and amused. Zero’s father is not amused. And the Harbinger is playing favorites. In this book, all of Pet’s pets seem to be becoming more human. We learn more about Pet’s past in this book and barrel along through multiple battles and a realignment of relationships. It’s another fun, fast read. If you’ve been having fun with this series, you’ll enjoy this addition. If you haven’t read the other books, STOP, go back and start with book one. And then jump on board and read Gingell’s other series. Just a lot of fun. Can’t wait for the next book!
All the feels
THIS SERIES MAKES ME SO DANG HAPPY! I kept seeing the first book popping up in my que of books that I may like, but every time I read the blurb I thought it was going to be a weird reverse harem type book. And I feel like reverse harems are over saturated and very rarely done right. Imagine my delight when I finally gave it a shot and found it to be nothing of the sort. I would absolutely love to be Pet's friend. She is such an awesome character. I have enjoyed all of the characters developments and I feel like even the minor characters are immaculately fleshed out. JinYeong is the cutest! He is one of a kind and brings a lot of great scenes to the book. I really like Athleas as well and really hope he isn't a bad guy. I don't particularly like love triangles (another played out trope), but I have enjoyed the bickering between Zero and JinYeong. Each of the books in this series have the perfect balance of giving you your fix and leaving you wanting more. A lot of of the times with a series, the story line will seem to drag on or have an absurd amount of filler just to increase their word count. That doesn't ever happen here and it makes me so so thankful. The author really does her best to make sure that she is putting out the best content for her readers and it really shows. You know you've read a good book when the characters feel more like friends and you actually care about what happens to them. I'm excited to see what Pet and friends get into next. I tried my best to make this book last as long as I could, but like always, the story sucks me in and I devour it all too soon. I hope we don't have to wait long for the next one, but I know if we do that it will be worth the wait.
Amazing! Cant wait for book 8!
Between cases is by far the best city between book I have read yet. I have very much enjoyed reading this series. It has a rather sideways angle to viewing the world. (Pun intended) I love the variance in the character dynamics. It’s been a long time since I have read anything that brought with it so much creativity and unexpected twists. That being said, I know I am going to have to go back through and reread the entire series because there is just so much going on that you just cant put all the pieces together in one shot. However, there is one thing you should know before you read this book.... I take that back, two things you should know. One, I strongly recommend you read these books in order. Otherwise you are going to feel like Alice down the rabbit hole, just spinning around trying to figure out what is going on. Two, whether you haven’t started the series yet or you are just now getting to book 7, I highly suggest that you consider waiting to read this one until book 8 comes out. Unless you like to be writhing in literary agony. I realized around 85% of the way through the book that there was no way things were going to get resolved before the end and that had me amping up about what was going to happen. But none of that prepared me for that final few pages. Oh My Goodness. And now I am sitting around traumatized, ruined. I cant even start another book right now. I absolutely cant wait for book 8 to come out. Amazing talented author. Highly recommend. I would consider these books acceptable for teens and preteens as well.
Very much emotion - and laughter
I just finished this book for the first time. And all I can really say is that I HAVE VERY MUCH EMOTION RIGHT NOW. So much growth. All the characters I love. I'm so pleased and warm in my chest. It's gonna be rough waiting for the next one.
My favorite so far!
Oh my goodness, y'all! This was an outstanding addition to the series. It's my favorite so far. So much happens! There's some reveals and answers and, of course, more questions. It's fast paced with lots of action and tons of humor. There's even a little bit of romance! Gosh, I'm so excited to find out what happens next! My favorite part of these books is watching the ever evolving relationship between Pet and her three psychos. So much progress has been made with all of them and even though there's still a few trust issues, it seems like there's a really great friendship being built there. I want to say so much more but it would all be spoilers. I'll just end with a big recommendation for this series. If you're a fan of urban fantasy, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of these books. It's so much fun. Start at the beginning because each book builds on the previous one.
Grumpily happy about this book
I have nothing but praise for the author. Her writing is superb. She is absolutely one of my favorites and should be one of yours as well. I am grumpy because she is much too good of an author to end a book the way she did. I am NOT a fan of abrupt endings that don’t really provide an ending. I dislike the ending immensely. It’s (forgive my Victorian phrasing) just not done!! I’m not going to spoil it, but I am throwing things and stomping. Such an amazing world and revelations, revolutions and a smidge of romance, with no end in sight. Not even a semi-satisfactory summation just no more words. I will pout until the next one is published and then I will greedily devour it. In the immortal words of a cheeky street urchin “More please.”
Kill Me Now
I literally said aloud after the last page, "NOOOOOOOO!" UGH ITS SO GOOD ITS HORRIBLE. I cannot wait for the next, it's too long. Okay enough wailing. In all seriousness this book is by far the best of the series. I know it must have been frustrating to be stuck in South Korea during COVID for so long for Gingell but, I think the experience had a profound effect on fleshing out my most favorite vampire. Her world building continues to grow and become clearer. Things are beginning to tie together while also raising more questions. It's a somewhat sycophantic way to tell a story but what's an author to do when their readers are all masochists? Highly recommend.
Excellent series
I seldom leave reviews, but this series is the best I have read in a long time. So good in fact, I went back and reread the whole series as soon as I finished book 7, which I NEVER do and it was just as good as the first time. I am impatiently waiting for book 8. The writing is excellent, the story line and characters remain consistent throughout and the characters are well thought out and developed. Importantly, I think, is that the majority of the characters are likeable in spite of their flaws. While the main character is a teenager, the excellent writing makes it suitable for all age groups.
W.R. Gingell is an amazing author. She writes a story like no other. Between and Behind.
Layers of worlds here in this series that is superbly written. Between is the space between the human world and the Fae who live in the behind. A young woman is the pet of three Behind beings. She is a stubborn, intelligent young woman and has made a contract with the three. Something is causing someone to murder humans and Fae in a horrible way. It all points to the dethroning of the current King for a new ruler.
The world drags me in.
This world continues to drag me in while Pet wrestles with innocence, cynicism, growing up and finding her past. I didn’t find it as enjoyable as earlier installments but I am so invested in discovering who or what Pet is that I must keep reading. The psychos are a bit more human and Pet is a bit less as time goes on but the relationships become more complicated. This is still one of the few young adult series that entertains me.
One of the best in the series!
This series just keeps getting better and better. I love how cheeky pet has gotten and also bold. I love that a lot of mysteries were solved and that we're now focusing on pets own mysteries and past. I love the budding romance in this and am excited to see where that goes and how other characters are gonna handle it. My only 2 negatives was i was sad how things went with zul and i dont have more of this series to read. I want more!
Can't get enough of this series!
Another fantastic book in the series! Always leaves me wanting more, I so love the characters, and I get quickly attached to each new one in the stories too. I could easily see these books as a new hit series of movies like the Harry Potter books did, imagine all the CGI for all the amazing things in these books, would be so awesome! Can't wait for the next book from one of my favorite authors!
Gingell does it again
I enjoy this series more and more with each book. The plot keeps building, hints and clues become relevant, new information is unveiled, and we get to enjoy the hilarity of exasperated fey, snarky pets, and attraction-frustrated vampires. Gingell’s snappy wordplay and clever dialogue make her stories so enjoyable to read. I shant spoil anything about this book lest new readers be reading, but some super important information about Pet is revealed, umbrellas are involved, and the old mad bloke is as endearing as always. Great book, highly recommend!
Oh my
I need more and each time I read these books there’s never enough. More is revealed however in this installment, relationships grow or fizzle, and Oh my gosh it was a cliffhanger. I’d be more upset with this but the writing and characters are so well done I don’t care. Just next please. Sooner than later.
Thank you
It is so good. How do you thank someone for sharing their world with you? I will try it this way. Before I read this series I had no idea of the depth of the between. Now I am chatting to shadows about their favorite type of tea shadows and smells. I look forward to any of This authors works.
Amazing, as always
Oh man, y'all. The revelations. The romance (!?) The friendships. I AM REELING. seriously, you won't be disappointed. I'm ready for book 8 immediately.
Top 5 I have read of 2020
Funny, emotional. The characters are excellent, the plot, excellent. Usually a series starts to fade by the time you get to “7”... but, this one is just getting warmed up. I liked the conflict resolution, the seeds of distrust. I love her emotional turmoil over trust/no trust. Brilliant Book!
Fabulous
I love this series. Every book has intrigue to the overall plot and yet enough closure that it has a satisfying ending. Pet and her Pychos are in fine form and it is great to see their relationship growing. Clean, mild kissing, and hilarious. I smiled during so much of this book. Love it.
Love the series
I have read all the books in the series. They're very habit forming and I never can wait for the next 1 to come out. I love the way Pet calls her them her 3 psychos And how funny she is. Also Love how different this series is from most others in this genre. I can't recommend this series highly enough.
I'm mad. But in a good way.
Well, biggest problem is with ebooks in general and the fact that I had NO IDEA I'D HIT THE END OF THE BOOK UNTIL I'D SWIPED THE LAST PAGE. I have been waiting for this book for months and was not emotionally prepared for it to be over to the point where I'm pretty sure my mental panic and anguish of "NONONONOnooooooooo" ....definitely wound up out loud. So if you are anything like me and just can't handle. Then maybe wait until the entire series comes out. Or if you are also just like me and can't handle waiting for the next book then read them anyways, they're fantastic.
More! More! More!
These books are too flamin short. Loved it though. Not nearly as action packed as the others but sucks you in just the same.
Fun as usual and significant plot movement!
I really enjoy the characters and the writing is always witty and snappy with surprises around each corner. I like that, even after the significant discoveries, I only have around 60% confidence in where Pet and her psychos are going to finally end up.
Bring on the next book!
Not my usual genre, with the extent of the battles, but I am totally in with this series! The interactions with Pet and her “guys” are more and more intriguing. Can’t wait to find out what Zero’s father has planned, and where Pet’s relationships go.
Always a delight 😁
WR Gingell never disappoints. This latest installment was amazing. The developing relationship with Jin Yeong has been so much fun to read - as well as all the peripheral characters' reactions to it. Am eagerly waiting for the next!
More pl
Oh my. I need more. Just reread the whole series, such a good time. Usually I get bored after 4 books, don't care about the characters or the plot. But this is fun and the characters are wonderfully written. So I need more.
I have so many FEELINGS
How can a series of books be so satisfying yet so frustrating at the same time? I cannot get enough of these books and this latest one is no exception. I want to know EVERYTHING, and waiting for the next one each time is torture. I enjoy every second of these books and reread them regularly. Definitely recommend.
Wowza!
This series is addicting! The characters have such depth. The world building is phenomenal, and what a world it is! I enjoy how easily/quickly Pet understands Behind stuff and non-romantic relationships, but couldn't see Jin Yeong's deeper feelings for her. I am going slightly crazy because I have to wait for the next book!
Can’t wait for the next book.
I love this series. I like fantasy fiction but so much more so if the characters are well developed. I like how the major plot rolls out over several books while solving “cases” along the way. I really love the reader on audible and I hope the newer books will be on audible soon. The flat of Tasmania is so fun that way.
Brilliant!
I love this series! This book dropped so many bombs - I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll just say that JinYeong has finally won me over and I didn’t think that was possible. When is the next book??
I hope this story never ends!
But it must be written quicker! 😂 The murderer seems to be just unknown, things are changing at home with the psychos, there is more kissing in this book...Zero's dad definitely has his own plan in the mix. Poor Pet!
Yay! Some questions are answered at last!
Great book, a bunch of things that have been mysteries have finally started to clear up. Pet is finally trying to be more honest with herself, with mixed results. Jin Yeong is adorable as always, I cant wait for the next book. We lot enjoyed it, so don't die yet W.R. Gingell lol
Finally some progress!
Not much change in the story, but some advances in stalled relationships. I love the characters, but it's getting hard to continue reading this series with all the filler.
One of my favorite series of all time
I would take vacation time whenever a new W.R. Gingell book is released, but then I'd have no way to pace myself. I'd open to Chapter One and the next thing I knew, the sun would be lower in the sky and I'd be done. You know you've found an author you'll love forever when, after every one of her books, you finish the last page and feel bereft. Have I immediately paged back to Chapter One and reread the whole book? Yes. Yes I have.
Love this series
Like riding a roller coaster, this series has twist after wonderful twist. Between the amazing characters and the exciting plotline, this series gets better with every new episode.
Best one yet!
So much new information in this installment! And now the wait begins for the next...going to hop on Audible and start back at the beginning listening through the series again...
Great read
Such fun characters ! All kinds of twists and turns with some fun fantasy fighting seems with the most unusual weapons! Can’t wait for the next in the series!
Enthralling
This is a great series. I love the snarky attitude Pet has toward her “owners”. Each book is well written and the relationships well developed. Can’t wait for the next one!
Love
Loved it. Pet’s character is continuing to develop. Something I suspected was also verified in this book. Will definitely continue reading the series.
Loved it!!
Another great installment to the series! A lot more is revealed...and romance is in the air. I just can't get enough of Pet and her psychos.
Truth unveiled
We get truth coming from different sides right now. Potential new allies potent it new enemies. The world is gearing for a change who can Pet trust?
Love the whole series
I recommend the whole series. I get excited whenever a new one comes out and I’ve enjoyed every minute of reading it. Just wish I didn’t have to wait to read more!
Has a pride and prejudice feel
Kissing Vampires for their spit is gross. Letting vampires bite you for their spit is weird. The heroine is weird. And I love her.
Between Cases
Ms. Gingell is a superb author, and Between Cases is another excellent showcase of her talent. So if you're unsure to keep following Pet's story, stop waffling and just download this book.
Wow! Wait! I need more!
Once again I was completely transported to another world. Can’t wait to see how this all untangles in the end. It will... right?
I need more....right Flaming now
This book was everything I swear!!!! We get information, and kisses and love and fights and I need the next one right now!!!!
Love this series
The Series keeps getting better with each book. The characters are growing and the Pet is starting to mature delightfully.
That ending?!?!
I'd gotten comfortable with Pet not truly being a stereotype or trope.....so the swing around at the end should have upset me. Oddly, it did no such thing. I'm just upset that I have a indeterminate wait ahead of me. Can't wait for the next book.
So good!
I've never read a series like this one, and I mean that in the best way possible. It was so hard to put this book down, and, of course, it left me wanting more!
Fabulous as usual!
This is my favourite series going at the moment, and one of my all time favorites and I read thousands of books 😊 I love all of the main characters, and the way they are written is just magic! Thank you so much!!
The characters leap off the pages!
Seriously, I am amazed by the vibrancy of the characters and by this entire series. The plot is intricate, the characters grow and change, and the setting in Hobart is wonderful. I now want to travel to Tasmania. I cannot recommend this book enough. City Between is my very favorite series available on KU.
Awesome!
Omg, this book was awesome. I love pet! Looking forward to the next book and the trials. I am team Zero.
The fun and intrigue continue
I love this series by WR Gingell. Every book takes us deeper into the mystery and leaves me wanting more. The main characters are a!l strong and teachable and the story is unlike anything I have ever read before. Can't wait for book 8!!
All the feels
Excellent series and in this book it really starts coming together. I heartily recommend this series. Great world building, with a dense plot and truly unique, well rounded characters who constantly surprise the reader as they develop and change as time passes.
Amazing! So worth the wait!
It was soooo good! Everything I was hoping for and more! The only bad part is having to wait for the next book! Just so so good, I absolutely love this series! And author! Gah, it was just soooo good!
I love these so much!
The characters are always so vivid, as is the scenery of the town! I read a lot and this series has always stood out to me as unique and fantastical. I love seeing how everything is unfolding and can’t wait for more! The main character is also amazing.
Incredible
Well I want more.....ate up the story in a flash... but honestly cliffhanger was so painful and wonderful. Can't wait for the next one.
My favorite so far!
My favorite of the series so far!!! Love Pet's character development, and the character development of the emotional support vampire. Can't wait for the next one!
BE PREPARED
prepare yourselves for SHOCKING REVELATIONS!
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!!
This series just keeps getting better and better! Fantastic humor, lots of mysteries, and wonderful characters!
Good stuff
I usually never read series that has beyond 4 books, Even if I know I love them, if it doesn't have an end in sight I wont touch it. But I have read everyone of these, enjoyed it, and will definitely read the next. Thanks!
😁
I cannot express how much I love these books and W.R.Gingell’s writing style that has a characters so different from many other authors
Sorry this almost killed you W.R., but when will the next one be released?!
These books are so fun and quirky. I don't even know what I'm reading half the time, but I just can't stop myself from devoring them. Which is really unfortunate, because now I have to wait how long for the next book? Things happen, some questions are answered while others are brought to the forefront. There's some fighting, some sleuthing and some personal discovery. But watching the relationships morph and grow between Pet and the three Psychos is my favorite. And let me tell ya, there are so many adorable moments between them in "Between Cases". Team JinYeong over here.
Another funny and riveting installment, complete with twists
I love this series, and highly recommend it; but this book is not the place to start. Book one (of seven and two novellas to date) was Between Jobs, and it introduced the world and the main characters and their (highly irregular) situation. This is all explained in every volume, but in vol. one it's all a surprise. Or just read the short "Cloudy with a chance of Drop Bears" to get a feel of the tone and the world... So, all you who have read the previous six volumes and are wondering, is the seventh up to snuff, the answer is YES! Pet is just as snarky and feisty as ever, Athelas as smoothly evasive, Zero as icily scary (though there are signs of a thaw) and Jin Yeong is ... Jin Yeong. The ever expanding cast of characters all get a look in (including a certain merman) and ... everyone is growing, a bit, as the situation gets more and more ominous.
moving along...
ah, things are happening; at last, we are getting somewhere...things are being explained, the field of action is expanding, we can see the final denouement approaching...maybe one more text? maybe two? a bit too much of a sloppy romance is growing...we need adventures, not teen-aged yearnings...but, on the whole, a good read, and a bit further along the story arc...not a stand-alone...looking forward to the next one...an amusing series...
