I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to know God, or who is struggling to know sobriety. Betty Jean has a way of distilling years of pain into actionable truths! It's a rare gift, and I'm grateful she chose to share her heartbreaking but joyous journey in great detail. Though the title might indicate it's just for women, as a man, husband, and father this work of art spoke to the very depths of my soul, and served as a gut check about how I treat the women in my own life. You will be very blessed for getting to know Betty Jean through this book, but you must be open to raw honesty and PG13 content.

I am so grateful that Betty Jean recommended her beautifully written book to me, although, it's not for the faint of heart! She reached out to me, when I shared pain, that she recognized. The story begins when she is a small child; describing unspeakable neglect, abuse & trauma. She began to stuff her shame & misery down w/food, at 9. I thought it was something I'd have to read small bits at a time, because my own memories came flooding back. But, she began to describe all the ways that God held her hand, bringing her into therapeutic environments w/kind & wholesome adults. Unfortunately, she'd also found alcohol & was drawn to self-destruction, like a moth to a flame. She'd take 1 step forward, then fall 2 steps back. But, God's Love for her, & her faith in Him, planted a seed in her heart; & gave her courage. So much courage! When I read her story, I was stunned by all that she has had to overcome. Eventually, she finds treatment, a faith community, healthy hobbies, & has 2 children, that she adores. She gives God the credit for her life today; of hope, healing, & redemption. Her story convinced me that God has held my hand & is leading me through, to the other side; of my broken past. I think Betty Jean's story will help U, too.

This book is a good read, but it will bring up different emotions up. I bought this book because I heard such great things. When I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I smiled, laughed, cried and was comforted all by reading this book. For one person to overcome so much is so inspirational. It showed strength and endurance to never give up and forgiveness is not for others but for you to heal. Betty-Jean helped me see some of my own hurt that I refused to let go but couldn’t because I didn’t want to forgive. If you know someone who has dealt with molestation, rape, alcoholism, abandonment issues, miscarriage, being a single mom but needs a testimony to help them see that they’re not alone and if God can do it for her than he can most definitely do it for you or someone you may know then buy this book. It’s a great investment.

This was a difficult story for me to start reading as Betty Jean’s childhood was so horrendous with sexual abuse, extreme poverty, shame, mental illness and constant trauma that led her into an alcohol and drug abuse haze for many years. Praise the Lord Betty Jean was blessed to be gradually led on a spiritual journey that pulled her out of the madness and despair and brought her eventually, fully recovered, into a full and satisfying life within her own new healthy family that brought her the love and personal success she only fantasized about during her early hellacious journey.

I personally know the beautiful author. I have known her for about 7 years now. She is always happy and spreading love to everyone. You wouldn’t know that she has been through so much by the constant smile on her face and love that pours out of her heart. This book is an must read for inspiration and a happy ending! I can’t wait to read her other books !

A beautifully written story of Betty Jean's eventual triumph over addictions after decades of abuse,fear,and betrayal from those closest to her. That she is now a happy wife and mother is a testement to her perseverance and belief that God had a better plan for her. Inspirational to the max!!!!!!

I was touched so deeply by Betty Jean's detailed depiction of her "unfolding" into the beautiful, strong woman that now she has been for many years. Her resounding theme throughout her wondrous life has been forgiveness with love. She has always placed God as her perfect protector and guide. Provided that she turns to Him, she will always learn and, thusly, prevail with good grace. I met Betty-Jean outside a Flanigans while visiting South Florida. She gave me her card and I knew this was about to be a God moment when I read the title, a divine meeting. It's about overcoming trauma (Hello!) and I knew I had to read it. She was just someone you wanted to know and talk to. God knew I needed to know her. I bought the book on Amazon and it reminded me who I belong to and who is going to restore my broken heart. How easy we forget His way when we want to do it our own way. Must read if you've lost hope, been through ANY trauma, abuse whatever. She has shared a beautiful testimony of strength, hope, perseverance and faith. We don't share the same traumas but the answer is the same, faith in God's purpose.

This book was awesome it is a must read. There are so many of us that Have had things happen in our childhood and not have been protected by our parents. We are over comers ! For many it is their relationship with God that has seen them through these difficult times. Our childhood has so much to do with who we are and the things we do however we can see our way through and overcome all the obstacles and we can be a light for so many women did have suffered at the hands of loved ones.

First of all I so LOVE the title of this book because this is what BettyJeans story is about;learning to be Loved by her ABBA Daddy,her Heavenly Father!She shows through her story of brokenness and pain how we all try to fill that hole in our heart,looking for worth and value in all the wrong places,all the things that will never satisfy!! My friend Betty Jean is a courageous strong women, but as a little girl, what she had to endure was almost beyond comprehension for such a small child. Even at 5 years old she had survival instincts and wisdom through a powerful god who she knew, even then, watched over her. I met Betty Jean during some of her most difficult struggles and her fight to trust and love again. What i remember the most about her is the loving powerful relationship she had with her son; her son was, and is everything to her. Her children, second to God, is what she always lived for. I received this book from a friend and didn't really know what to expect. However, once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. To be honest, this is a book that I , more than likely , wouldn't have ever even looked at. We all have things in our past that we feel should stay in the skeleton closet and the fact that she had the courage and determination to expose her previous life and especially the positive outcome was very brave and inspirational.Also, the fact that God played such an important role in her amazing journey speaks volumes. This is the most amazing story I’ve read to date. The honesty and openness the author puts into it is so heartwarming. I felt like I was right there with her the whole time. I’ve experienced a very similar life to the author and it gave me so much hope to hear about her triumph over so much adversity and pain. I read it in 1 sitting in an hour.
